Still mad 546 years later...

Every time I go back to read about the Pazzi Conspiracy, I can't help feeling so sad for both Lorenzo and Giuliano. Giuliano was an all around good guy, wasn't really involved in politics (maybe bc Lorenzo was worried he wouldn't be able to handle it), kind-hearted, and friendly to everyone around him. He didn't have to die in such a brutal way. Lorenzo, I can kind of understand why (don't support it tho), since most of the diplomacy and dealings were through/with him. But just imagine Lorenzo finding out that his little brother who was largely the most innocent of them, was the one killed; not him (even though, he, as the older sibling, should have protected Giuliano).

I can't imagine the survivor's guilt Lorenzo had after the whole thing. And don't get me started on how Giuliano's killers (his so-called "friends" Bernardo and Francesco) personally went to get him to come to church and even hugged/joked with him as friends do to check if he was wearing armor and to let his guard down. I mean, no shit, he thought you guys were his friends! The Medici must have known there were ppl who had a grudge against them, but Giuliano never judged those guys and still trusted them wtf

what do you think of the Tony Manero story about John? it was in Giuliano's book afair and people use it to make a convincing point on John's sexuality and his relationship with Paul. I guess what I'm trying to ask is how reliable exactly is Giuliano, and even though Tony Manero hasn't mentioned anything John already hadn't can we trust his story?

I don't trust Giuliano much, though I also don't dismiss his anecdotes out of hand. The Giuliano interviews we have actual recordings of are more valuable to me than his books, which are obviously incredibly salacious and clickbaity.

The Tony Manero story is particularly difficult to verify because so little is known about Tony himself. (him allegedly being the inspiration for the Saturday Night Fever character also makes him impossible to google lmao)

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if the story was largely true. It doesn't feel contradictory to what we otherwise know or suspect about John.

Sorry, I don't have a very definite answer here. I don't think many of these authors outright lie, I just think they care more or less about verifying the stories they're told or are prone to filling in blanks willy-nilly. That being said, I've been told Giuliano claimed to have died at 9/11??????? so. that tells you something about his willingness to lie for attention.

Izunavi: Gay | he/him | trans man | 21

Giuliano: Bisexual | he/they/star | trans man | 19

• Izunavi is Japanese and British, him and his family used to live in England in the suburbs but they moved to Florida when he was 10, his dad has an antique shop and his mom a dojo

• Giuliano is Italian and German, he was born and grew up in LA, he is pretty sure his dad used to work with the mafia. He has an older sister called Calliope, she was born in Italy and they moved to LA when she was 4

• Giuliano’s dad used to work for a personal protection agency back when they lived in LA but then they moved to Florida when Giuliano was 14 and achieved his dream of opening a bakery

• Giuliano’s mom is a journalist, his sister is a news reporter

• Giuliano and Izunavi met when they were in college

• Izunavi was studying Physical Therapy and Giuliano Communications, they both needed a job

• They both started working as bodyguards in a nightclub, Giuliano was 2 years into his career and Izunavi was 4 years into his

• Izunavi has been trained in karate all his life and Giuliano had been boxing ever since he was 10 and he also had a gun permit his dad made sure he got “you never know” he said, that just amplified his mafia suspicions, of course his dad did get him classes before getting the permit, so he actually knew how to use a gun

• They got assigned the same shifts, at first Izunavi thought Giuliano was too obnoxious but he really started to grow on him after a few weeks

• About two months passed and they both became good friends, Giuliano even invited him to hang out outside of the job, surprisingly they got along pretty well, they both liked martial arts and where both in carriers that required them to read a lot so Giuliano invited him to become studying partners

• To Giuliano’s surprise Izunavi invited him to hang out with him and his friends for Izunavi’s 21rts birthday

• Another month passed and they became really closed, and Giuliano so happened to be looking for a roommate and he thought Izunavi seemed perfect, he wasn't loud and seemed like a really responsible guy, he also just really liked him and compared to his other friends he seemed like the perfect option

• They moved in together and a month later they both quit their jobs as bodyguards, Izunavi now started working on his mother’s dojo and Giuliano was in a podcast with some friends from college and also worked at his dad’s bakery, they both just wanted more normal jobs

• After some months of living together they both started to catch a crush on each other, Izunavi had no idea, Giuliano noticed his crush but he was in denial

• After 6 months of them living together Hanzo (He is one of Izunavi’s friends in this au) pointed out Izunavi’s fondness for Giuliano and then slowly he began to notice his crush on Giuliano

• Giuliano had cero plan of doing anything, he thought it was too risky

• Izunavi wasn’t going to do anything but Bisky (One of his friend’s in this au) convinced him to at least try

• Izunavi isn't romantic at all, he has never dated anyone, and also had never thought much about his sexuality, he just knew he liked men and that’s it, so this was a challenge for him

• His friends told him to do something huge to confess his feelings, but he reassured them that with Giuliano that wasn't necessary, he knew that something subtle but honest would be enough for him

• He did think of doing it in a pretty place like a park, but that was too much for him , he wanted something private

• Giuliano and Izunavi had started to have movie nights, they had started them because apparently Izunavi “lacked general culture” Izunavi just accepted because he was down bad

• So one friday afternoon on one of their movie nights Izunavi decided to confess his feelings, it took him weeks of yes and maybes and then nos but they were finally there

• Izunavi’s confession was straightforward but heartwarming and sweet, Giuliano knew how hard it was for him to express his emotions so it felt even more special

• Izunavi was right, Giuliano didnt need any more than this, so Giuliano told Izunavi that he liked him back, Izunavi then asked him to be his boyfriend and Giuliano said yes and then kissed him

Some sketches of Giuliano de Medici. I really liked drawing his curly hair, it's the kind I'm used to lol. And yes, that cheetah cub is his pet. Considering the Medici kept exotic animals and (possibly) Giuliano is depicted with one in that Magi fresco, I thought why not? I think he would've been a (big) cat person. I wanna draw Lorenzo next.
