There is something really, uh, telling, about how Jimmy Carterâs presidency was widely considered to be a âfailure,â and he also is INARGUABLY the U.S. president who has done the most to promote human rights around the world.
Itâs extremely telling, about the U.S. nation-state as a political project and institution, about the federal government as a structure, about the nature of imperialism.
To reference a friend of mine, he was the only U.S. President alive in our lifetime who could avoid the International Criminal Court.
#rest easy Jimmy#Georgia lost a good one today#but also he was 100 and did an immense amount of good. so I am not actually that sad.#american politics#us politics#political#politics#jimmy carter#georgia#Georgia politics#imperialism#colonialism#anti colonialism#anti imperialism#anarchy#anarchism#anarchist#anti state#anti nation state#nation state#fuck the nation state

You walked with your girlfriend and Magda around the field after the Lioness vs. Sweden game talking to Magda when G stopped taking some pictures with fans and signing some stuff. You and Magda stopped about three steps away from Georgia when you heard something you couldn't quite place. So you went over to the area Magda right behind you as Georgia looked absolutely lost
âWhat's the matter?â you asked trying to act like a normal staff member since no one knew you and G were in a relationship âEverything okay?â
âYeah... good... we just... benchâ your girlfriend said stressed already pushing you back a little
âG... what's going onâ you mumbled as she pushed you in front of her
âMAGDA!!!â Georgia yelled signalling the swede to follow âGive me a minuteâ
Your girlfriend pushed you quickly into the tunnel where she waited for Magda to catch up
âI need a phone... or a tablet or something connected to the Wi-Fiâ your girlfriend looked around quickly and you saw how distressed she was
âBenji... tabletâ you quickly said as one of the tactical staff members passed.
He quickly handed over his tablet to you and you passed it on to Georgia who immediately tried to unlock it just to hand it back to you groaning
âBabe pleaseâ your girlfriend groaned getting more and more squirmy
âHereâ you handed the unlocked piece of electronic back to her looking confused when she quickly pulled up one of the other teams game
âMind telling us what got you so freaked out??â you asked raising your eyebrows
âOne of the fans I took a picture with... she said she's sorry about what happened to Lena and she hopes that she's okayâ Georgia mumbled pulling up the live ticker to look when what exactly happened
âObi?â you asked âDidn't they play... who was it? Italy?â
âAustria... still playing... 68'...â your girlfriend mumbled concentrated âAnd yes... Lenaâ
âWhy am I here?â Magda asked now confused looking onto the tablet her head coming out between yours and Georgias
âFuck me!â Georgia suddenly exclaimed her hand quickly covering her mouth
âJesusâ Magda exclaimed shocked
âWhat?â you asked looking back down on the screen as you were quickly distracted by one of the Swedes passing the trio of you.
But in that second you saw Lena on the ground clutching her knee before the replay was played. You saw how Lena went in for the block and how her right leg was planted into the field. You saw how she moved her upper body to the left and then it happened â you immediately saw how the patella quickly plopped back into place and how Lena collapsed to the ground
âLucy!!â you yelled running back out onto the field scanning it quickly before you spotted your sister down at the corner flag smiling up at some fans signing Jerseys and stuff
âLUCY!!!â you yelled again already taking off in her direction when your sister head snapped towards your voice
âWhat's wrong Bubs?â Lucy came running meeting you just short of the middle line
âI need a flight to... wherever Germany played today... somewhere in Germanysâ you panted
âWhat?â your sister asked confused
âI need a flight to Germany... long story short... I need your Credit cardâ you breaths coming out laboured
âWhat are you talking about?â your sister asked firmly
âLena Oberdorf... she got injured today... I need a flight to Germanyâ you quickly explained
âAnd why exactly...â your sister started to question you curiously
â... I know Bayern... they'll want her back in Munich...where she has basically no oneâ you interrupted Lucy quickly
âCome on Bubs... you can't just fuck off because of... I don't know... a sprained ankleâ Lucy rolled her eyes
âIt's not the ankle Luce... it's the kneeâ you said quietly looking your sister straight into the eyes
âThe knee??â your sister looked confused until she got your hint âFuck... the KNEE??â
âYeah... she has no one there you know...â you nodded grateful your sister got the point
âTalk to Sarina... I'll book you the first flight out tomorrow morning...â Lucy said â... and before you argue... you can't do anything tonight anyway... you know it yourself â they put her on drugs and ship her out tomorrowâ
âYeah I know...â you sighed defeated accepting the open arms and sank into your sisters embrace â... thanks Luceâ
âAlways Bubs....â your sister smiled pressing a soft kiss to your temple â... you got a heart of gold you know that?â
âI just know how it feels...â you mumbled against her shoulder â... not the being alone part but the ground getting ripped away from under your feet... I can't imagen how it must feel knowing that no one will be there waiting for you when you get the diagnosis or waking up aloneâ
âGo talk to Sarina Bubs...â Lucy said softly â... you know she'll let you go but you can't just piss off okayâ
âYeah...â you said quietly â... need to talk to G tooâ
âBubs.. you need to calm down....â your sister said tiredly next morning when you entered London Heathrow airport â... it's too early... I can't deal with your nervous freak out at the crack ass of dawnâ
âKeira offered to take me...â you grumbled still being tired yourself â... you said you wanted to take me... Keira would have me calm by nowâ
âThat's why I came separatelyâ Keira suddenly said behind you holding two coffee cups pushing one of them into your hands
âWhere is my coffee??â Lucy asked upset
âStill in the coffee machine at Starbucks...â Keira deadpanned while you thanked every coffee god in this universe for Keira Walsh
âYou're so mean...â your sister grumbled at her ex â... that Austrian changed youâ
âJust like that spaniard changed you... never heard you complain so much about the english weather â you grew up hereâ the blonde shot back making you snort
âYeah well... the warmer weather is better for me old bonesâ Lucy tried to defend herself pouting
âMhm...â Keira just smirked taking a sip from her coffee
âLeave me alone...â your sister grumbled as she just took Keiras coffee out of her hand â... it's too earlyâ
âCan you two get divorced later... I have a flight to catchâ you said immediately getting nervous again
âYou'll do good Bitsy... you're a pro nowâ Keira said softly guiding you to the security check â... it's the same routine every time... security... find your gate... get on plane... get off plane... don't get lost in city you got off plane okay?â
âG wrote me down the way to the Bayern trainings centre...â you said confident
âI'll get you the number from someone who's there... I'll arrange a pick upâ Keira said knowing how well Georgia works with directions and navigations â not well at all. Georgia and navigating someone normally ended up in a disaster
âThank youâ you smiled tiredly â... I didn't have the heart to tell her since it took her half the nightâ
âNo problem...â the blonde smiled back
âYou need to go Bubs...â Lucy gently nudged you forward and you recutlanty took a step forward
âGo on Bits... you're a regular flyer by now...â Keira smiled encouraging â... we seriously need to think about getting you into the mileage programâ
âYeah well...â you mumbled â... I already ticked the mile high club boxâ
âEXCUSE ME?â Lucy spit out her mouth full of coffee looking at you shocked while Keira bursted out laughing
âI need to go now...â you quickly said speed walking into the security area
âBUBS!!! COME BACK HERE!!!â your sister yelled after you âIMMEDIATLEY!!!â
You turned your phone on the second the plane came to a halt at the big Munich airport. The flight was surprisingly relaxing and you have to give it to Keira â she was right. You kinda got the flying thing down now. As soon as your phone connected with the Airport Wi-Fi your phone exploded with messages from Lucy, Keira, Georgia, Magda and surprisingly Pernille who asked you to keep her up to date considering Lena. You answered Pernille first since she had send the calmest message from all. Next was Keira who just wanted to know if you landed and if the flight was okay or if you had an anxiety attack again. After Keira you texted Magda who just asked you if you could water her cactus and you just answered with a middle finger emoji. Then you texted your girlfriend that everything was fine and you were about to leave the plane. Lucy came last since she send about 20 texts in the 85 minutes you were in the air. You just copy pasted the text you sent your girlfriend politely ignoring her questioning about the mile high comment.
As you exit the plane Keira texted you back that she organized Franzi Kett to pick you up and attached the forwards number. You tried your best to text in the little german your girlfriend taught you just for Franzi to answer in english. She told you exactly which way to go and where you two would meet up and by god â so much better than Georgias directions
âHey Franziâ you said quietly when trying to not attract any attention
âHey y/nâ the young blonde smiled back friendly âYou had a good flight?â
âG already briefed you?â you chuckled
âThat too yeah...â the blonde chuckled â... but also I thought you might want to have small talk?â
âHow's Lena?â you asked as you followed the blonde to the parking lot
âI don't know... I honestly don't knowâ Franzi said shrugging her shoulders apologetic
âDo you have any kind of information?â you asked hopefully getting into the black sleek Audi
âI know she'll be flown in today... I don't know when tho...â the blonde said as she quickly exit the car park â... where should I let you out? Gs apartment?â
âMind driving me to the academy?â you asked trying not to flinch as Franzi got on the motorway speeding up quickly
âNo problem... Alex should be around viewing some of the second teamâ Franzi smiled as she quickly cut to the right lane taking the next exit
âGirl I swear you drive like a lunaticâ you panted out as the car slowed down stopping at a red light
âWhy? I drove good?â the blonde looked at you confused
âSo fast and so unapologeticâ you huffed
âIt was just 160...â Franzi shook her head
âYou seriously are mentally not stableâ you said but then squeaked when the car shot forward as the lights turn green
You quickly talked to Alex getting all the information you needed before recuting Franzi as your taxi driver again. The young player was happy to chauffeur driving safely through the Munich traffic driving you to a better looking neighbourhood parking the car
âWhat are we doing here?â you asked confused as you got out of the car
âThere... that's the clinic you told me to go toâ Franzi pointed at a bigger building behind you
âTHAT'S a clinic?? You Germans don't have normal hospitals?â you exclaimed shocked
âWe doâ the blonde deadpanned â... that's a private clinic... very expensive... very exclusiveâ
âDamn girl...â you looked around when you entered the building â... it's like exploring a different worldâ
âNice isn't it?â Franzi asked
âSĂâ you mumbled not even noticing you switched to spanish
âHi... wir sind hier wegen Lena Oberdorfâ Franzi smiled nicely at the receptionist
âEntschuldigung aber ich kann Ihnen keine Auskunft ĂŒber Patienten gebenâ the young lad answered and your head started to hurt already having to listen to them speaking german
âWir wollen keine informationen...â the blonde said her voice still friendly â... aber wenn Sie vielleicht organisieren könnten dass sie weiĂ das wir hier sind... Franzi Kett und Y/n Bronzeâ
âGeben Sie mir eine Minuteâ the lad smiled grabbing the phone
âWhat the hell??â you mumbled
âWhat?â Franzi looked at you a little concerned
âSince when do you speak fluent german?â you asked forgetting that Franzi was German
âI was born here... I lived in lower Bavaria my whole...â the blonde looked at you like you're having a stroke
âOooooh riiiiiight...â you slapped your forehead â... I always forget thatâ
âEhrm... Tschuldigung??â the receptionist perked up â... Ich hab oben bescheid gegeben und wenn ihr versprecht kein Blödsinn zu machen lass ich euch hoch in den Wartebereichâ
âOh vielen Dank...â Franzi sighed out and you figured it was good news when she turned to you âCome on... we're allowed to wait upstairsâ
âDid you see that??!!â you whisper yelled as you exit the elevator and Franzi laughed quietly â... they had a whole ass Fanta machine... different flavoursâ
âYes I saw....â the blonde laughed as quietly as she could
âI need one of thoseâ you said seriously
âYou won't be able to pay for themâ Franzi laughed as she sat down on one of the comfortable looking chairs in the waiting... lounge
âBeanbags??? They have beanbags in their waiting area???â you exclaimed bewildered âI'm gonna move in here... or steal one.. two... G needs one tooâ
âJust sit down.... this will take a whileâ the young blonde rolled her eyes as she snatched one of the magazines laying around
âI'm going to get a Fantaâ you said already turning around
âNoâ Franzi jumped up quickly blocking the exit â... I have strict orders to not leave you out of my sight... and honestly... I'm scared of Pernilleâ
âUgh... fun sucker all of youâ you rolled your eyes falling back into the beanbag
âSeid ihr hier fĂŒr Lena?â a nice looking nurse asked a while later
âJa... ich bin Franzi... eine Teamkollegin...â Franzi jumped up smiling
âAgain with that German... worse than all them spaniardsâ you mumbled
âOkay... so only one of us is allowed in her room... so I told Nadine over here you'll go... if you need me to pick you up text me okayâ the blonde said
âBut you...â you started confused but Franzi immediately shook her head
âNo... I have a feeling you'll be more use hereâ
âThank youâ you smiled but it was a sad one before you followed the nurse down the hallway
You carefully entered the hospital room â not a normal room. The colours where friendly â a light green and yellow with accents in light blue. The interior was in a light wood. All in all it was just light and airy and beautiful and calm.
âHey Walmart for poorâ you said quietly as you slowly approached the bed wincing slightly as you saw the big cast covering Lenas leg
âWhat do you want?â the new Bayern player said coldly
âJust was in the neighbourhood and thought I stop byâ you shrugged your shoulders pulling a chair over as the brown haired woman turned her head looking away from you
âI don't know why you're even here... I don't have anything to tell you... they're still looking over the picturesâ Lena mumbled
âLesbi-honest here... both of us don't need any confirmation or pictures...â you sighed deeply â... I know it and you know it tooâ
âMaybe it's just twisted very badlyâ Lena said quickly but you heard her voice break a little at the end
âLena...â you said softly grabbing her hand
âYou don't know how...â the dark haired snapped at you making you snort
âI'm probably the only one who knows..â you snorted
âHow could you understand?â Lena said and you knew her leashing out at you was a normal reaction
âI had three... that's why I'm not playing... that's why I'll never stand in Wembley at a Euros final with the three lions on my chest or representing my country at a world cup... I can walk... I can kick around a little bit but my knees won't be able to hold the pressure of a professional careerâ you said blankly â... so I understand how you feelâ
âI didn't...â the brown haired woman looked at you shocked
âNot many people know... but that's not why I'm here...â you said seriously â... I'm here because you'll need a support system... You have your family yes... but you'll need people around you who know what you're going through... you're going to struggle... big time I promise you that... and I don't even mean the physical struggle... I mean the mental one... you'll have days and nights where suddenly thoughts pop up that scare you â they make you being scared of yourself. But you need to trust someone and talk to them. Also... rehab is going to be a bitch â but I promise I'll be there... and with me you have all the top players behind you... and if you even THINK about giving up I'll tell on you at Alexias and believe me... she has way to much fun at kicking asses to let this opportunity go to wasteâ
âAre you sure?â Lena asked and you knew what she asked
â99.9%... the way your patella snapped back... the angle your foot was planted into the pitch versus where your upper body was and the movement you made...â you looked straight at her and suddenly she turned your head away from you her free arm came up to cover her eyes and you heard that chocked up sob
You didn't talk or trying to make a joke. You just held her hand letting her cry all the bottled up emotion out. It took a while but she suddenly grabbed your hand harder and you squeezed back in a silent understanding and support. A little bit after that there was a low knock on the door and Lena called out breaching herself for the ânewsâ
âSo we're going to take a part of your hamstring and replace the ripped ligament with it...â the Surgeon explained and you snorted what make Lena look at you questioning
âThat might work for the Anterior work but what about the knee ligament....â you questioned the Doctor
âWe use a artificial tendonâ the surgeon looked at you a little grumpily
âAnd how do you want to fix it in there... you need to screw the prosthesis for the artificial to the bone and theoretically the inner would run straight over it... but if you put an artificial in her body could either reject it or it rubs over the prosthesis and rips again as soon as she's ready to start playing again OR you already plan on a second surgery in about 6 weeks what would throw her recovery back... so you go back out there find an acceptable solution and THEN you come back and present it to me... otherwise I have no problem to get my own surgeon here so I'm sure she gets the best possible treatment and I'll also make sure the high dogs in the Club will hear about itâ you went all out on him knowing what he tried to sell to Lena was absolute bullshit
âEhrmâ the surgeon looked at you shocked as you pointed towards the door
âDoor is there... if you don't come up with up a solution by tonight I'll get my surgeon here... she knows what she's doing... fixed me three times... so... what to you Germans always say? Zack zackâ you said coldly and the middle aged man stumbled outside
âWow... what...â Lena looked at you shocked as you pulled your mobile out holding your finger up
âTeddy... you have plans tomorrow??â you said as soon as the call connected âYeah... hi... nice to speak to you... I'm fine... you too? Great.. so... plans tomorrow..... day off? Perfect... I have a present for youâ you grinned at the german player
âI'm scaredâ Lena looked up at you her bed right in front of the OR
âI know...â you said smiling a little grabbing the hand that she reached out to you âBut I promise you... Teddy is the best out there... I mean she had a lot of practise with meâ
âYou're horribleâ Lena snorted
âThank you.... normally people call me a bitchâ you grinned back
âI call you Christmas presentâ a female voice behind you said and you looked up to look into your surgeons smirking face âEvery time I open you up there's something new to exploreâ
âYou better not fuck this up or I'll find someone new to scrap me ligamentsâ you threatened her smirking back
âPff... as if anyone would take your broken body on their chartâ the dark blonde waved off before entering the OR âLast minuteâ
âI'll be here when you wake up okay...â you promised Lena when the OR nurses came to push her inside â... and I'll take a lot of embarrassing videos of you being high as fuck and blackmail you with them laterâ
âYou wouldn't dareâ Lena said shocked
âIt's family traditionâ you smiled as the young player got rolled into the OR and as you were about to leave Teddy stuck her head through the door
âYou want to watch from the other room?â the surgeon asked you âIt's gonna take around three hours...â
âI trust you Teds... her and G are friends... and that makes her my friend too....â you said seriously â.. I'll be at that Fanta machine if someone looks at youâ

The Ruins of Us: Chapter 8
Summary: You're getting ready to officially leave for college, when a familiar truck pulls up outside your house. When you go to say goodbye to your best friend, there is more tension than you expected. Flash forward to the immediate aftermath of the explosion, and you stand up to Shane once and for all.
See notes at the end, as they contain spoilers for this chapter.
Warnings: mentions of smut, but still SFW.
You were nervously packing your thrifted backpack with the half used notebooks and pencils from your room, head spinning with the list of things you needed to buy for your first semester at Georgia State University. You were lucky you had some student grants to help you with things like your dorm room costs and buying new bedding for the new bed youâll have. But the costs of textbooks, extra clothes that werenât tattered with stains and holes, and --if you found one good and cheapâa laptop were looming over you. You heard a honking outside your front door that pulled you away from your mental list in your head. You zipped up your backpack and hauled it over your shoulder along with the duffel bag with all your other belongings. You were headed out to the bus stop anyway, managing to find a couple bucks under your momâs mattress while she was out today. You figured youâd find out who was honking outside on your way out. When you opened the front door, you froze in the doorway, half turned around to close it behind you. There was a glossy black truck in your driveway. You slowly brought the door shut behind you. Looking around the street to see if anyone else was nearby, you dropped your things on your porch and walked down to the driverâs side door hesitantly.
âHey,â Shane says in a hoarse whisper, leaning out the window.Â
âHi,â you say simply back. You stood a few feet away from the car, waiting for him to say something, and he looked lost for words. He pushed his hand through his long black hair that sits piled on top of his head in a neat tousled style. His beard was growing a bit fuller now, and you stopped yourself from trying to think of what it feels like to the touch. The way Shane acted the last time you saw him was still fresh in your memory. You reached up to your neck unconsciously before bringing your hands back down to your sides.Â
âListenâŠâ Shane finally began, âIâIâm sorry. About everything. I was such an asshole, baby. I shouldâve known better,â he said nervously, âYou are everything to me, Y/N. I hate the way I treated you that night. I havenât stopped thinking about you. I miss you. I know what I did was wrong andâŠIâm sorry. Iâm so sorry.âÂ
You took a deep breath, processing everything he was saying. On the one hand, you wanted him to feel as hollow as you had the past couple weeks without him. You were glad to hear heâd been hurting from the way he acted the last time. He had left bruises on your skin, but what hurt you the most was that he wouldnât even listen to you. He completely disregarded your words, let alone how terrible you were feeling that night. But at the same timeâŠgod, youâve missed him too. After a long while, you come to your answer. Your mind is screaming to you that you shouldâve said no, but your heart managed to answer first.
âOkay,â you whisper. He looked up with you, his puppy dog brown eyes full of hope.
âOkay? You forgive me?â he said. You nodded with a small smile.Â
âI love you, Y/N,â he said, getting out of his truck to hug you tight to him, âyouâre everything to me, truly,â he whispered into your hair as he held you against him. He felt warm and muscled under his officer uniformâhe mustâve just gotten off of work. You pulled back from him, and looked into his eyes, searching for sincerity.
âYou mean it?â you whispered.
âYeah, of course I do,â he says, reaching down and pulling you for a hard kiss. He captures your mouth possessively, holding your face to his with his large, rough hands. His tongue plunges into your mouth with fervor. You hummed in satisfaction and he pulled you into the truck, sitting you on his lap. As he sat back in the driverâs seat, he ran his rough hands down your arms, making you shiver. You straddled him, knees deep in the seat as he pulled you closer. âHow âbout one more time, before you have to go,â he teased, pulling you into him for a few small, wet pecks to your lips.
âI have to get going, Iâm going to miss my bus,â you said, your arms around his neck.
âIâll drive you, I donât want you on that nasty public bus,â he said with a playful hint to his voice.Â
You hesitated. You were planning on seeing Daryl on your way out, to say goodbye. You werenât moving far, but the chances of you being able to afford bus fare and come back to see him were few and far between.Â
âItâs really okay, I donât mind,â you insisted, pulling your arms away from his neck. You went to press them on his chest but he reached up, holding your arms in place. âIâll take you to see âem,â he said knowingly. He rubbed his hands down your arms again, comforting you. His voice was quiet and soft. Gentle, even. Your eyes widened in confusion.
âReally?â you asked.
âYeah, âcourse. But first,â he smiled coyly, ââŠIâve missed you,â he said, squeezing your ass in his large hands, making you grind your hips onto him. You toppled forward onto him, his lips finding your neck, kissing and biting you.
âOkay, okay,â you giggled, âmake it quickâthen I really have to go,âÂ
âDeal,â he said, grabbing your hair and pulling you further down into his lap.
x
You breathlessly pulled your shirt back down to cover yourself and zipped your shorts up when you climbed out of the truck a few minutes later.
âI gotta go get my bags,â you began, buttoning the last fastening on your shorts, âAnd I think I forgot something,â you said with a big smile, going up to your house for the last time. You run to haul your bags over your shoulders, dashing inside.
x
You had thought this was a good ideaâShane dropping you by Darylâs on your way to leave for school. But the closer and closer you got to his house, the faster your heart beated against your chest. As Shane put the truck in park, he pulled your chin to look at him and brought you in for a long kiss before releasing you.Â
âGo on, Iâll be right here,â he said gently.
You smiled and pushed open the door with one hand, a cupcake in your left. When Shane offered to give you a ride, you suddenly had remembered you made one vanilla cupcake for today to bring to Daryl. You were going to miss his birthday that weekend, but still wanted him to know you remembered.Â
When you shut the truck door behind you, you stopped dead in your tracks. Daryl was perched on his front porch railing, smoking a cigarette. You looked back into the truck to see Shane staring him down now. Had he pulled you in for a kiss because he knew it would be in front of him? Shane wouldnât be that petty--no. But as you watched their stare down continue, you werenât so sure.
Daryl wasnât looking at you as you approached the house, but staring hard at the vehicle in his driveway. When you made your way up onto the porch, he finally turned his head to look at you, his glare still glacial on his face.
âI came to say goodbye,â you said quietly to him. You held out the cupcake to him, âand to say happy early birthday,â he looked down at the cupcake, and back up at you. Without saying anything he just looked back out at the truck, eyes narrowed.Â
âDaryl, please,â you plead to him, lowering the cupcake. You donât know what else to say, so you stood there, just waiting. Daryl brought the last of his cigarette up to his lips, still watching the truck. Once he had let out a long puff of smoke out to the sky, he hopped off the railing, putting the cigarette out on the wood, and walked right past you into his house. He made sure to slam the door behind him, the bones of the house shaking. You stared wide eyed at the door for a long moment, not sure what to do. You felt your face flush with heat, and before you would allow any moisture to gather in your eyes, you sat the cupcake down on the cigarette butt littered table by the door, and ran back out to the truck.
x Flash Forward x
By the time you and Daryl had made it back to your truck, there were pieces of ash and debris falling out of the sky already. He had gotten up off of you once the explosion had made its initial blow, bringing you up to your feet, only to turn and run to the cars at breakneck speed. So now, youâre finally reaching the truck door and swinging open the passenger side as he throws his crossbow and gun in before hopping in himself.
âYou idiot! You absolute idiot! â he was shouting at you, âthe hell were you doinâ in there? You nearly exploded with the whole damn building!âÂ
He is shaking with rage as he waits for some sort of explanation from you. When you both turn to see Dale and Andrea make it to the RV, he reaches down to turn the key in the ignition. He rests his hand on the wheel, waiting to start moving, and looks over at you expectantly.Â
âSo did you!â you yell back at him. âI was only in there âcause I was lookinâ for you after I didnât see you come out with us!â his red face is livid, and spit flying as he yells. You are taken aback, sitting against your seat. With your hesitation, Daryl continues, âWhat the hell were you even doin? Forget a magazine âer somethin? Lip gloss left behind?â He starts moving ahead, behind the rest of the group's cars. His hands are white knuckling the steering wheel.
âOh screw you, Daryl. I was looking for you , asshole.â you narrow your eyes and point an accusatory finger at him. Now itâs his turn to look stricken, so you continue, "I didnât see you. I didnât see anyone when I came out of my room. I had toâ" you pause, trying to find the right words, "I couldnât leave without⊠knowing for sure where you were." Your voice drops to a whisper. "I just needed to make sure no one else was in there," You end quietly, but with a sense of finality. You know what you really wanted to say, and hope he could read between the lines without making you say it out loud. âWell donât do anythinâ like that again,â he says quieter, â Stupid. Itâs stupid to risk your life for me, Y/L/N,â he says even quieter, almost to himself.Â
âBack at you, Dixon ,â you say with sarcasm, folding your arms over your chest in annoyance. Rickâs voice suddenly comes over the radio on Channel 40 after a long stretch of silence between the two of you, and you reach down to turn up the volume.
â--gonna pull over here by these houses,â the bad connection breaks up his voice, â--some vehicles we can siphon some gas,â his voice is crackling from the static, but youâre able to make out the important information. Daryl pulls the truck up on the dirt driveway and looks over at you.
ââm serious, Y/N. Never again.â he says seriously. You almost roll your eyes but think better of it, and just ignore him. Hopping out the passenger side, everyone is grabbing the gas cans, ready to see what they can find from the abandoned vehicles left behind.Â
Shane is approaching both you and Daryl, and you stiffen, âWeâre gonâ need to ration the gas we can find,â he says with authority to Daryl, âyou okay with drivinâ the bike to save gas, we can take whatâs left in the truck and use it for the RV?â
Daryl just nods, moving to the bed of his old beaten up truck to start unstrapping the motorcycle. You stand in front of Shane, who has his hands on his hips, looking down at you.Â
âListen Y/N,â he breathes, but you shake your head.
âLetâs just forget about it,â you say, whispering to him and shaking your head, âI donât want to know whatâs going on with you and Lori. Itâs not my business,â
âOkay, but Iââ he begins, but you hold up a hand, stepping directly in front of him to shield anyoneâs prying eyes.
âBut if you ever touch me like that again,â you seethe, your eyes filling with fire, âI will not hesitate. I will tell every member of this group whatâs goinâ on and what you did. And I happen to know two people who would have a real problem with that information,âÂ
He stares down at you, his eyes hardening.
âYou and me, Shane, whatever this is, whatever it was, is no longer. I canât do it anymore. You crossed a line. A really fucking big line. I ainât your âplaythingâ anymore. Iâve had enough,â you finish, quoting his words from last night. You step away and turn before he can say anything else. Rick is watching the two of you, and when he looks over your shoulder, he nods to Shane, maybe in question, you canât tell. You donât care anymore.Â
Daryl is sitting on Merleâs bike now, engine roaring to life. He walks it up as he sits, pulling in front of you, cutting off your path. He just shoots his head over his shoulder gently, waving you on. A silent understanding that he was done being mad at you. Without a word, you hop on, and grab him by the sides of his tattered sleeveless shirt. You look over to Shane, who watches Lori and Rick before Dale calls him to get into the RV. So, you have only three vehicles now: the RV, the hatchback, and the bike. You suppose the guys mustâve funneled the fuel they found and conserved what they could from the other two you had to leave behind. Until there was any chance of finding a camp, resources had just become very, very scarce.
You hear the RV start behind you, and Daryl leads the newly minimized caravan ahead to the highway.
Notes: yes I'm annoyed at the MFC too for getting back together with that asshole. But she must! For the plot!! She doesn't know any better! She's never had a father's love! yes it's a short chapter, I was emoshie over Daryl and you, okay??? and can we just have a moment for that pic of young Daryl????
Chapter 9 is here

THE PARTY TOLD YOU TO REJECT THE EVIDENCE OF YOUR EYES AND EARS. IT WAS THEIR FINAL, MOST ESSENTIAL COMMAND.
TCinLA
Oct 07, 2024
Brian Beutler described this perfectly this morning:
When Donald Trump started telling conspicuous lies about the federal response to Hurricane Helene, all of MAGA understood the assignment.
His supporters understood they should spread rumors or fabricate anecdotes consistent with Trumpâs claims. They should portray their own confusion as government malice or incompetence. They should claim to have witnessed FEMA abandoning Republican-heavy regions and illegal immigrants walking away with relief money first hand. They should even use artificial intelligence technology to fabricate images that reinforce these lies.
Elon Musk and Trumpâs other ultra-wealthy supporters understood it as their solemn duty to draw as much attention to these lies as possible.
Its also a trial run for the chaos they intend to sow through the election.
David Simon expressed disgust on behalf of many: âFor the chance to gain some political advantage, the Republican nominee for U.S. president is willing to lie, and in doing so, actually impair the ongoing efforts to help the Americans made vulnerable by this hurricane. That level of sociopathy simply astonishes.â
(The old astonishing has been astonishingly surpassed by the new astonishing.)
From The Hill today:
SPEAKER JOHNSON CALLS FEDERAL RESPONSE TO HELENE âA MASSIVE FAILUREâ
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) called the federal response to Hurricane Helene a âmassive failureâ and pointed to the hundreds of people still missing.
âAt the federal level, this has been a massive failure. And you can just ask the people there on the ground. I have been there. I was in Georgia. I was in Florida, where Hurricane Helene made landfall, there on the coast. And then weâll be going to the hardest hit parts of North Carolina on Wednesday of this week,â Johnson told Shannon Bream on âFox News Sunday.â
Johnson said the federal government had advance notice of the hurricane and should have been better equipped to respond.
âWhen you talk to the people who are directly affected, they will tell you this has been an abject failure. FEMA has lost sight of its core mission, I think, in so many cases, and the administration has not shown that they were prepared for this, this eventuality, and this terrible disaster.
âThey had more than a weekâs notice of this, and yet we still have people who have not been served and even rescued,â Johnson added. âIn North Carolina, it is a heartbreaking, tragic and infuriating situation to have the federal government fail, as they have well.â
The remarks come as Republicans have sharpened their attacks on the federal response to Hurricane Helene, just one month ahead of Election Day.
The federal government and other local and federal officials have fought back against claims that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is inept.
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said recently that he was impressed with the federal response, noting North Carolinaâs impact was not expected to be as severe as it was.
âFor anybody who thinks that any level of government, anybody here, could have been prepared precisely for what weâre dealing with here, clearly are clueless,â Tillis said. âBut right now, Iâm out here to say that weâre doing a good job.â
The federal government has also sought to dispel rumors about the lack of federal funding available to residents affected by the national disaster.
FEMA has set up a designated ârumor response pageâ to fight misinformation and inform residents of available funding.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates responded to Johnsonâs criticism by pointing to âa wide range of leaders in both parties and from every affected stateâ who âhave praised the bipartisan response to Hurricane Helene.â
Bates pointed to Tillisâs remarks, as well as to comments made by other GOP officials, including South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, who called the federal response âsuperb,â and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who said he âappreciatedâ Bidenâs offer to âcall him directlyâ if the governor needed further assistance.
Bates also quoted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who said, âThis is an incredible experience for me. So, to President Biden, thank you for coming. Thank you for paying attention to our needs. We have had a good working relationship between the federal government.â

While perhaps it's too early to call it a "masterstroke", Joe Biden stepping aside for Kamala Harris will probably turn out much better than any Democrat would have predicted a month ago.
Kamala Harris will likely be the next president of the United States â and thatâs overall good news if you care about democracy, justice and equality. Joe Bidenâs decision on Sunday to bow out of the presidential race clears the path for the country to elect its first woman and first woman of color as president.
For people who need a historical reminder...
[M]ost people in this country typically choose the Democratic nominee for president over the Republican nominee time and time again. With the sole exception of 2004, in every presidential election since 1992, the Democratic nominee has won the popular vote (Biden bested Donald Trump by 7m votes in 2020).
Now for more recent events.
If, in fact, support for Democrats among people of color is the principal problem, then putting Harris at the top of the ticket is a master stroke. The enthusiasm for electing the first woman of color as president will likely be a thunderclap across the country that consolidates the support of voters of color, and, equally important, motivates them to turn out in large numbers at the polls, much as they did for Barack Obama in 2008. The challenge the party will face in November is holding the support of Democratic-leaning and other âgettableâ whites, especially given the electorateâs tortured history in embracing supremely qualified female candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams. (The primary difference between Abrams, who lost in Georgia, and Senator Raphael Warnock, who won, is gender.) Sexism, misogyny and sexist attitudes about who should be the leader of the free world are real and Democrats will have to work hard to address that challenge. One critical step to solidifying the Democratic base is for all political leaders to quickly and forcefully endorse and embrace Harrisâs candidacy. Mathematically, it is likely â and certainly possible, if massive investments are made in getting out the vote of people of color and young people as soon as possible â that the gains for Democrats will offset any losses among whites worried about a woman (and one of color, no less) occupying the Oval Office and becoming our nationâs commander in chief.
We shouldn't forget that the VP's mom was born in India. A number of people in the growing South Asian community in the US who may not be especially interested in politics will be tempted to pause their disinterest and vote for Kamala. India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have all had female prime ministers â so there's not exactly a taboo about women in power.
One way to measure enthusiasm for Kamala is to look at how much money is being raised by ActBlue. Not all the money ActBlue raises goes to the national ticket. I donated to a US Senate campaign in June via ActBlue. BUT the timing of recent donations leaves little doubt what the cause of the recent spike is.
For context, first some recent weekly totals (source)...
Week of June 30 through July 6 â $65,220,920
Week of July 7 through July 13 â $48,669,913
Week of July 14 through July 20 â $61,349,601
As of Noon today (CDT): Week of July 21 through July 27th â $150,042,360 and the third day of the week is just a little over half over. In the previous hour alone, roughly $2.44 million was raised.
These are small donations, not like the $45 million per month promised by multi-billionaire Elon Putz to Trump. So grassroots Dems are stoked and are out for a win.
ActBlue is fairly no-nonsense, it's not exactly Amazon in layout. So people are not drawn there by flashy graphics.
Kamala Harris â Donate via ActBlue

Comments on Falsettos recording describing people's experience with pre-revival casts & being gay in the 80's and 90's
for @holdwinetosky
âI lived in Manhattan in 1981, met my husband that year. We lived through the AIDS drama of real life on the Upper West Side. This show speaks to me on So many different levels.
Saw this production on Broadway shortly after it opened. Crazy, Intense, Wonderful .
Just like it was in 1990 as Falsettoland at the Lucille Lortel, and when it first moved to Broadway as Falsettos in 1992. Saw the original casts of each, and each production multiple times (1 time with Mandy Patinkin as Marvin), saw the road companies that came to Philadelphia........etc...lol
Freakin Love this Show."
@ rugby8-PhiladelphiaÂ
âSaw a traveling company which came through Phoenix, AZ. I left Manhattan in '81 as numerous friends were getting ill and shortly thereafter died. This show made me laugh out loud AND cry out loud!â
David Helmstetter (@ davidhelmstetter6661)
âThank you. You signed my program when I was a kid. I waited by the stage door. My Mom didn't want to see the show at the time. She turned into the most accepting woman and this musical changed my life. xoâ
@ castChicagoactors
âAn absolute perfect moment in theater... this opened in nyc in 1990!!!!! We all had just lost lovers and friends and it was still raging without any meds. Vowing to "buy the farm arm in arm" was and still is the most moving loving words to hear so beautifully sungâ
Jeff Schecter (@ jeffschecter4543)
âI saw Falsettoland at the Theatre De Lys in the Village shortly after my brother Marty died of AIDS, and I have never cried so hard in my life as during "What More Can I Say" and "Unlikely Lovers." I cried so hard that in part of my brain I thought someone might escort me out of the theatre, but there was nothing I could do about it, Michael Rupert you gave voice to everything I felt and there was no stopping it. Thank you thank you thank you. Of course saw the short multiple times on Broadway and afterwards in various productions and I will just never forget this song and that moment until every brain cell I've got has given up and every memory is erased because this is the such an honest statement of what love is all about. To all of you in the show and William Finn I am forever grateful.â
David Fleischer (@ davidfleischer455)
âThanks for posting, Michael. Today, after 29 years together, my husband and I are legally married in our state of Georgia.â
@ theBestArts
âI have seen many Broadway musicals in my day. Over one hundred original and first run shows since 1980. I can honestly say without heistation that Falsettos in 1992 is the best musical I have ever seen in NY. The ensemble cast, simple set, lyrics, and use of character to tell a story is a perfect example of theatre art. Every theater lover should have seen this one, it is a masterpiece. Chip Zien and Barbara Walsh shine in every performance they give.â
@ muscled57
âI saw March of the Falsettos in 1980 and marvelled at it's musical brilliance and ended up seeing it half a dozen times. Then I saw Falsettoland a decade later which devastated me with it's sensitivity and humanity. Years later I saw a regional production of Falsettos which is the combination of the two shows and was enchanted and remain grateful to Mr Finn for writing such a masterpiece of musical theatre that I could see again and again.â
@ donovan3535
âI was fortunate enough to be reach up and touch Mr. Patinkin at the Golden Theatre in February, 1993, during his run with this amazing show. Those who don't think he made a good Marvin: I have to disagree with you completely. The man is one of the best American talents alive today and gave an amazing performance, in my opinion.â
@ dyabolykyll
âI can't believe I've never seen this before. I've sobbed all the way through the second act. Such strong memories of my dear friend Sammy, who died in 1993. The last time I visited him with my kids, he asked if he could change my daughter's diaper, and afterwards he cried because I wasn't afraid.
 It hits so hard for those of us who were young adults when AIDS came on the scene. People were afraid to be in the same room with someone who had it, much less to touch them. It made hand holding and hugs mean so much more."

IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS YESTERDAY THEN TODAY WOULD BE A GOOD DAY TO LEARN THIS.... "All stories don't have a happy ending"
In 1866, one year after the 13 Amendment was ratified (the amendment that ended slavery), Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina began to lease out convicts for labor (peonage). This made the business of arresting Blacks very lucrative, which is why hundreds of White men were hired by these states as police officers. Their primary responsibility was to search out and arrest Blacks who were in violation of Black Codes. Once arrested, these men, women and children would be leased to plantations where they would harvest cotton, tobacco, sugar cane. Or they would be leased to work at coal mines, or railroad companies. The owners of these businesses would pay the state for every prisoner who worked for them; prison labor.
It is believed that after the passing of the 13th Amendment, more than 800,000 Blacks were part of the system of peonage, or re-enslavement through the prison system. Peonage didnât end until after World War II began, around 1940.
This is how it happened.
The 13th Amendment declared that "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." (Ratified in 1865)
Did you catch that? It says, âneither slavery nor involuntary servitude could occur except as a punishment for a crime". Lawmakers used this phrase to make petty offenses crimes. When Blacks were found guilty of committing these crimes, they were imprisoned and then leased out to the same businesses that lost slaves after the passing of the 13th Amendment. This system of convict labor is called peonage.
The majority of White Southern farmers and business owners hated the 13th Amendment because it took away slave labor. As a way to appease them, the federal government turned a blind eye when southern states used this clause in the 13th Amendment to establish laws called Black Codes. Here are some examples of Black Codes:
In Louisiana, it was illegal for a Black man to preach to Black congregations without special permission in writing from the president of the police. If caught, he could be arrested and fined. If he could not pay the fines, which were unbelievably high, he would be forced to work for an individual, or go to jail or prison where he would work until his debt was paid off.
If a Black person did not have a job, he or she could be arrested and imprisoned on the charge of vagrancy or loitering.
This next Black Code will make you cringe. In South Carolina, if the parent of a Black child was considered vagrant, the judicial system allowed the police and/or other government agencies to âapprenticeâ the child to an "employer". Males could be held until the age of 21, and females could be held until they were 18. Their owner had the legal right to inflict punishment on the child for disobedience, and to recapture them if they ran away.
This (peonage) is an example of systemic racism - Racism established and perpetuated by government systems. Slavery was made legal by the U.S. Government. Segregation, Black Codes, Jim Crow and peonage were all made legal by the government, and upheld by the judicial system. These acts of racism were built into the system, which is where the term âSystemic Racismâ is derived.
This is the part of "Black History" that most of us were never told about.

Next stop... Manchester
a/n: I had to rewrite it but it's okay. Feedback is really appreciated by the way
*Not my PIC*
Pairing: Chloe Kelly x LĂ©on!Reader; Mapi LĂ©on x sister!reader; Ella Toone + Georgia Stanway x Female!Reader (besties)
Summary:
Type: Fluff
Warning: nothing
words count: 3334
--------
London - Manchester. Manchester - London. Whatever the direction, it became a usual trip for you during those recent years. Well, dating a Citizen player while you played for Chelsea, and let's not talk about the fact that you played for Spain and her England, meant you had to make compromises sometimes.Â
You came to the WSL in the 2017-18 season; you played for Everton after some good seasons at Athletico Madrid. There you met Chloe; everything was new for you, so she helped you install yourself in the country. She showed you a lot of places, and you met a lot of people who'd become part of the England squad. At the end of the 19/20 season, you moved from Liverpool to London, where you signed a contract with the Blues.
At Chelsea, everything was good except when you had to play in the Champions League finals against your sister and her team. Unfortunately for the London club, you got injured in the semifinal. Without one of their best defenders in their squad, the Blues lost against FC Barcelona. Except that the other worst moments was when you played against your girlfriend; you know how good she is, and it's really difficult for anyone to defend against her (except McCabe, but she's not really defending).
After three years in the capital's club, you received some interesting offers from different clubs: Bayern, Wolfsburg, Real Madrid, and even Lyon, but you decided to join another club in blue, well, sky blue. But your girlfriend is totally unaware of that, like almost everyone else, because you wanted to surprise her.
~~~
Today was a particular day; the Lionesses should take a flight to Australia the next day, and your girlfriend decided to spend her free time with you. It was still early in the morning when your phone started buzzing next to you. It was disturbing, but you didn't want to wake up yet until the woman next to you groaned.
"Y/n, I swear if you don't tell whoever texted you to shut up, I'll throw your phone through the window." Chloe said with her head pressed harder against the pillow.
"Calmate hermosa; I'll check that." You said before grabbing your phone to see a lot of messages from more people than you expected.Â
Maps[yesterday]:
ÂżVienes a casa para vacaciones?(Are you coming home for vacation?)
Leila[8:30 a.m]:
The girls know
Ella[8:40 a.m]:
Please tell me you don't join the wrong side
Lauren[8:42 a.m]:
are you really coming?
I need to tell Chloe
Niamh[8:43 a.m]:
Sam and Guro are still pouting
Mama P[8:44 a.m]:
Jessie is still crying you need to do something
Mama M[8:44 a.m]:
Don't forget your sunscreen
Mama P[now]:
Magda reminds you to not forget your sunscreen
"Who are they?" The blonde was a little more awake than earlier.
"Just Magda and Pernille...and Niamh and Mapi." You replied before quickly texting, 'don't tell anything to Chloe; it's not official' to Ella and Lauren.
"Okay, now come back to sleep with me." The winger said, but you reluctantly declined the proposition.
"I really want that, but the girls are coming for lunch and I need to cook something," the Mancunian groaned and grabbed her phone.
"It's only 9 a.m."
"Yeah, I know, but I also have to call my sister and make our breakfast." You informed her and kissed her forehead before leaving the bedroom.
Chloe wanted to go back to sleep, but she couldn't without you, so she just checked her notifications and saw a text from Lauren.
Lauren[8:43 a.m]:
I have a big surprise for you
Chloe [8:57 a.m]:
???
Lauren[now]:
I heard someone say that we will pair together for the world cup
Chloe[now]:
Like alwaysđ
Your girlfriend knew there was something that her friend didn't tell her, but she didn't want to push her. When the winger finally came to the kitchen, she saw you cook with one of her Manchester City training kits. She approached you carefully, wrapped her arms around your waist, and landed her head on your shoulder.
"How can I help you?" She asked you.
"Just sit and look pretty." You commanded.
A few minutes later, Chole was sitting on the kitchen counter scrolling through TikTok while you were cooking. Everything was good until she found a tik-tok talking about the departure of Ona. It was not surprising at first, but the video caught her attention when the person behind it started to speculate about your possible departure to join Barcelona too. Of course, some fans had theories about you coming back to Spain after a lot of years in England.
You were too focused to not burn your breakfast and texted your sister that you hadn't noticed your girlfriend looking at you suspiciously; honestly, some theories started to gain her attention. She knew that last season you denied the offer of a Spanish team that wanted you, justifying it by the fact that you wanted to finish your contract with the Blues, but now what is keeping you in England?
"Babe? What do you think about going to Barcelona?" The winger asked you.
You took a moment to think about it. "Uh, I don't know; we need to schedule for the next season and wait until you come back from Australia, hopefully with a trophy, and I also need to ask Maps if it's good for her to let us stay in her apartment." You explained, totally unaware of the true meaning behind this simple question.
"Oh, okay." There was a little silence; she continued to scroll on her phone until you finished your episode. You turned your eyes off your phone and made your way to the blonde, leaving some kisses on her face, making the English girl giggle. "What are you doing?"
"I'm hungry." You replied.
"But you're cooking."
"Yes, and I finished it, so let's do something together." You finished your sentence with a trail of kisses from her lips to her neck.
"Babe, the girls are coming in 2 hours." She stopped you.
"I know."
"And you just cook the breakfast."
"I think I can do something in a little more than an hour, so let's have a little time for us." You said lifting her from the chair made her yelp and almost let her phone slip.
"Twenty minutes." She whispered firmly, just a few centimeters away from your lips.
"Twenty minutes." You agreed before leading her to the bedroom.
~~~
Twenty minutes later, you were both in the bathroom taking a bath, and she was sitting in front of you with her back against your chest. You were playing with her hands and the water, trying to steal some kisses between her giggles.
"Did you finish packing your things?" You asked, and she hummed to reply. "Are you sure? Did you pack some tissues? Alana said it was really cold there during this period of the year."
"Yes, don't worry. I checked everything twice." She replied, you wanted to say something, but she cut you off. "No, I'll not unpack everything to let you check." She prevented you.
You sighed and landed your head on her shoulder. "I'm just worried, mi corazon. The last time you flew somewhere without me, you almost forgot your passport." You reminded her, and she chuckled.
"Yes, but don't worry, Lauren will not let it happen again." She joked, and you nodded.
"Okay, I love being here with you, but we will have a lot of hungry girls in one hour, and I need to start to cook." You said getting out of the bathtub.
"How can I help you now?" Chloe asked again.
You thought a moment before replying, "Nothing; just stay there and look good for me." You said and gave her a little on her forehead.
"There is someone who's really looking good right now." She replied with a flirtatious tone.
"Pervert!" You shot just before taking your towel and leaving the room.
~~~
An hour later, you were finishing a paella request by almost every girl while you were making conversation with the citizen until someone rang at the door. When Chloe opened the door, she was met with none less than ten girls chatting loudly. You smiled when you heard the noises coming from the living room. You didn't have time to go to the kitchen before hearing two voices enter the room.
"Y/n!!" Georgia called you very excited.
"Why do you always look surprised to see me, knowing I almost live here?" You asked and accepted her hug.
"I missed you." The midfielder said.
"Me too, pequeña soldadera (little warrior)."Â
"You still use this Spanish nickname?"Â
"Always." You said with a cocky smile before walking to the other girl in the room. "Hola, I didn't think you would come." You said to Leila, your national teammates, well, not anymore because you were one of 'The 15'.
"Where do you want me to be? I mean, I'll never say no to free food and cooking by the best Spanish cooker in Manchester, no, in England." The older defender said.
"You say it because Ona came back to Barça?" You asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Maybe." She replied, almost questioning herself; you gasped and playfuly slapped her arm.
"Don't worry, Y/n, you're still my favourite Spanish cooker." Georgia said while the three of you were joining the others in the kitchen.
"You say that because you don't have any Spanish teammates in Munich." You replied, and the girls laughed.
In the living room, there were more guests than you planned. There were Ella Toone, Alessia Russo, Maya Le Tissier, Katie Zelem, and Mary Earps, your Manchester's players friendsâwell, it was no longer valid for Alessiaâand there were Chloe's City's teammates: Alana Kennedy, Lauren Hemp, Alex Greenwood, Laila Ouahabi, Laia Alexandri, and Esme Morgan. And some pluses: Keira Walsh and Lucy Bronze were here because they were ex-city players; McKenzie Arnold, who was brought by Alana (you always liked her, so why not); and of course your best friend Georgia Stanway, who brought Leah Williamson to complete their famous trio.
"Now that I see it from here, it's a lot of people." Laila said.
"You even invited some people who don't play for Manchester." Georgia commented, referring to McKenzie and Leah. You and the defender just looked at her before exchanging a confused look.
"A veces me pregunto cĂłmo se hicieron mejores amigos. (Sometimes I'm really wondering how you two became best friends.)" The older woman said to you.
"¿Por qué? técnicamente no es falso. (Why? Technically, it's not false.)" You replied before a body crashed against you. "Wow, calmate Ella." You said laughing a little.
"Please tell me you'll choose the right Manchester." The offensive midfielder whispered to you with a big pout.
"Uh, yes? I mean, yeah, but why do you ask?"
"The girls find an article saying that since Ona made her comeback in Barcelona, you could leave too." Alessia informed you. In the corner of the couch, almost no one noticed, but Chloe tensed when she heard what Alessia saidâalmost no one because Laia wrapped an arm around the winger to ease her mind.
"Okay, I don't know what you're talking about, but let's eat because it'll get cold." You avoided the question, and that didn't go unnoticed by three players.
After eating in a very good atmosphere, you spent all your time cuddling Chloe and making jokes with Leah and Laila about the fact that you weren't selected for the World Cup. Some girls decided to watch a movie, and you happily agreed. You were in the kitchen making some snacks when you heard someone clearing their throats. Before hearing some footsteps, you turned around to see Ella, Georgia, and Laila exchanging looks.
"Are you alright, girls?" You asked a little confused.
"Y/n, can we talk?" The Red Devil asked a little shyly.
"Yeah, I just need to give this to the girls." You said referring to the plate of snacks in front of you.
"Yes, of course, we will wait." Georgia said you noticed something strange in her tone, but you didn't question it. Only two minutes later, you were back in the room with the three women.
You sat beside Ella in front of Georgia and Laila. "Is there something wrong?" You asked when none of them spoke.
"Y/n, we've known each other for a long time now, don't we?" Ella asked, and you nodded.
You clearly remember the day you met her for the first time and the time you became friends. It was during the season 17/18, you just left Athletico Madrid to try your luck in England at Everton. There you met Chloe for the first time, and it instantly clicked; it was love at first sight. For Tooney, you met her the first time you played against her, when she was playing for the other team in Manchester.
For Georgia, you met her in the street of the city before you saw her again on the pitch, but she was very kind with you, and for someone who had been in a new country for only a few months, you were very grateful. She helped you progress in English, and she even gave you some advice with your girlfriend when she was just your crush.
And for Laila, you met her for the first time while you visited your sister in Spain while she was playing for Barça. When you made your first step on the senior national team, she helped you (with your sister, Jeni, and Alexia, of course) with everything and every question, and you both play as defenders, so you trained together. When she came to Manchester, Mapi made a promise to take care of you, even if it was you who helped her the most when she was still installing.
"Yeah?" You replied, a little unsure of where it would end.
"So can you be honest with us? So about earlier, you know we will not be angry if you leave." Laila reassured you.
"Yeah, I know it's just that everything is complicated, and I don't want to leave Chloe." You said. Talking about her, your girlfriend was about to make her way in the kitchen, but she stopped when she heard her name. She knew it was very bad, but she couldn't help herself.
"Is it Barcelona?" Georgia asked, and you nodded, making the midfielder grumble, "Why do they want you when they already signed Ona?"Â
"Because we didn't play at the same position." You said. "But they're not the only ones who made offers. There are also Wolfsburg and Paris Saint Germain."Â
"Why don't you come with me to Bayern?"Â
"No, if you need to leave, you should come to Manchester City."
"Or you can join me here."
"Okay girls, let's forget about it; they gave me until the end of the month to accept it or not. Now, let's just watch a movie and chill until you have to leave." You stopped their debate. Before you could see her, Chloe quickly came back on the couch beside Lauren, and you sat on her other side.
The rest of the day, your girlfriend seemed preoccupied by something, but she refused to tell you what.
The lunch was very cool; everybody was happy, and the girls didn't split anything. The next day, the girls had to leave, and you had a flight to Spain that you couldn't miss.
~~~
Your holidays were pretty good; you were just enjoying life with your sister, but somewhere you were missing your girlfriend. Because the World Cup was in New Zealand and Australia, you weren't awake at the same time.
On the other side of the world, Chloe was missing you, really missing you. She could handle every time you spent your holiday in Spain with your family, but now it wasn't a holiday for her, and you should be here with your national team. Unfortunately for her, every time she thought she couldn't miss you more, Lauren James, and Niamh were talking about you.
For you, after a week and a half in Spain, you had to fly back to England before going to Australia. You arrived in Australia between two matches of the Lionesses and, more importantly, just two days before the public training.
Knowing you would come to their training session, Lauren Hemp and Ella couldn't stop teasing Chloe about how much she missed you.
At the training, everyone was more focused knowing that it was public. You successfully found a place not so far from the ground as to not be immediately recognized. Chloe nailed it pretty well; she had only one thing on her mind: finish this and quickly come back to the hotel to call you.
When training finished, the citizen stayed behind to talk with fans and take pictures. She was not alone because Georgia and Ella were following her and, most importantly, looking for you. Stopping in front of a group of girls, the three started to do as usual until something caught Georgia's attention.
"Hey, look at that," she said to Ella, holding a Manchester City shirt someone gave her.
"It's the new one." Ella commented, and the Red Devil turned the shirt to find a big surprise. The two midfielders exchanged a confused look before looking at the crowd and finally seeing you.
"No way," Georgia whispered.
"It's a betrayal." You saw Ella mouthing Being too focused on you, they didn't see their teammates coming until the shirt slipped out of the Bayern player's hand.
"Where did you find that?" Chloe asked, but she didn't wait for answers before starting to sign it. It was just after she finished that she decided to look at the back. She paused for a moment. She thought it was a mistake or just a joke until she heard someone speak.
"I hope you like my surprise." You said this after you noticed she was too stunned to speak. Hearing your voice brought the winger back to reality; she looked at you, more surprised and happy than she ever was.
She didn't wait too long before she trapped you in a bone-crushing hug. You stayed like this for a few seconds until she pulled away, immediately closing the gap between you with a lovely kiss.
"I missed you too, mi corazon." You said after you pulled away when oxygen was needed.
"But what are you doing here, and most importantly, what is this?" She asked and showed you the shirt she just signed.
"Let's just say that I have a new team, and I wanted to announce it to you before you see it on the internet." You replied.
"So it's not a joke? We'll really play together next season?" She asked like it was the most unthinkable thing in the world.
"Yes, we will." You confirmed.
"But, Barcelona, and your sister?"
"Well, yeah, I'm really impatient to play with my sister again, but I think it can wait a little longer. And technically, I'm more related to Athletico Madrid than Barça."
"I don't know what to say. It's incredible; I would never believe that this day would come." She cupped your face and pressed her lips against yours just before being interrupted by her teammate.
"Traitor!" Ella yelled, making you laugh.
"Don't worry, I have another one for you." You said before throwing a shirt at her. She made a fake disgusting face, making you laugh again.
"I only keep it because you're my best friend." The United's players informed you.
"Yeah, yeah, but don't forget you also played for them."
"Sorry, I can't hear you." She said with her hands pressing against her ears.
"Okay, now I think you need to go, but don't worry, I'll come stay there to hopefully see you lift the trophy." You said to your girlfriend before giving her a last peck on the lips.
"I already miss you." The blonde striker said.
"I know; now go and win this for us."Â
"I promise."

Reader pov:
The following weeks are quite uneventful. We are sent on a few minor missions, all of which are successful, and are in a state of immense boredom. You almost want a war to break out at this point. But one late January day, your father calls everyone to the debriefing room. Anticipating a new mission, possibly one with more excitement, you and the 141 are practically bouncing on the balls of your feet with anticipation. One by one, you file in and sit down at the familiar long wooden table. knees bounce with expectation under the table.
Price walks in, everyone draws a breath.
Oddly, price has no folders in his hand, no loose papers, nothing. He walks in silently, clears his throat, sits at the head of the table and clasps his hands. He pauses before speaking.
"We're going to a wedding," he puts bluntly.
everyone exchanges confused glances.
"Well that was anticlimactic," Soap blurts.
Everyone breaks into chatter about the event before Price raises his hands to quiet the room.
"It's a good friend of mine, we served together. Names Bill,"
ohhhhh uncle Bill, you thought to yourself, happy for him and his soon-to-be wife.
Everyone nods and discusses the dress code, "Wait, wait, wait... am I going to have to wear a suit?" a voice from the corner of the room speaks up.
You turned toward the sound and saw Ghost, obviously peeved about having to dress up.
"Yes Ghost, your going to have to put on a suit," Your dad rolls his eyes.
The chatter continues as everyone files out of the room, the wedding was on for tomorrow evening, and you needed a dress. You contemplated returning home to get something out of your closet, but your overused sundresses just wouldn't cut it. You needed something flattering and mature.
That afternoon, you got permission to drive into the city to shop. The nearest mall was an hours drive from the base. Plugging your phone into the aux, you drowned out the hum of the road with an upbeat playlist for the drive.
You soon found yourself in a gorgeous, modern yet classy store. Elegant dresses lined the wall, from ballroom length to cocktail, there was no shortage of styles. Time, however, was of the essence. As you wandered aimlessly through the endless racks of dresses, an employee noticed your distress and walked over to introduce herself.
"Hey there! my names Georgia, how are you today?"
You give her a relieved smile. "Lost," you admit.
"Oh, happens to everyone, no worries. come with me, i'll get you measured and we'll find your perfect match!" Georgia says cheerfully.
She walks you over to an area near the fitting rooms, a plush ottoman and a soft rug are on the floor in front of a tall mirror. Georgia grabs her measuring tape and notes a few things.
"So, what occasion is this dress for?"
"A wedding, distant family friend."
She hums, "Okay so, like stunning... but like not steal the show stunning."
"Oh well I hardly think I could steal any of the spotlight from-"
Georgia cuts you off, "Nonsense! your absolutely enchanting!"
You give a weak smile at the complement as she goes and finds multiple dresses in various styles and colors. She goes through a quick but in depth fitting and analysis of each. Within the hour, you find one that you fall in love with. You can't help but grin as you look at the way the fabric showcases your body perfectly. You take it to the register and pay, bidding Georgia goodbye with a wave and a thank you.
That night, you do your best at an attempt to sleep. Your efforts remain futile as you toss and turn thinking of tomorrow. Catching up with old friends and family, dancing and drinking, but best of all...
Ghost gets to see you in a dress, The most flattering and gorgeous dress you've ever picked out. Finally, you find yourself drifting off slowly with those exciting thoughts.
-timeskip-
You arrive at the reception with your father, the rest of the group has their own rides. You try to let loose a little by grabbing a drink and catching up with friends and family, but you find yourself eyeing the door constantly, waiting for your masked comrade to walk in.
"Watching for danger eh? can't escape them habits the military drills into ya," The groom comes up behind you and ruffles your hair. You half smile and turn towards him.
"How ya been kid?" he asks.
The two of you chat for a few minutes before he goes off to find your father, you return to watching the door, thankful that he thought it was military instinct.
About an hour goes by and you down a few drinks, you were slightly buzzed but your mind was still clear. You still keep an eye on the door, waiting for Simon. You hardly notice when an old childhood friend of yours snakes an arm around your shoulder.
Startled, you flinch and raise your fist, but then you realize who it is and drop your arm awkwardly.
"Oh... uh... sorry Jake," you mumble.
"Ha! You musta had half a mind to think I was some kinda creep," Jake smirks and pulls you in for a hug. You try to pull away, but he has a vice-like grip around your shoulders.
You and Jake had been neighbors as kids, he was always over keeping you company after your mom left. The two of you had grown up like siblings, that's how you saw it at least...
Around your teenage years, you had started to experiment with boys a bit. Jake HATED all of your boyfriends. At first, it seemed like a protective older brother type thing, but after a while Jake got possessive. He followed you on dates, stalked the social media of all the boys you talked to, he scared people off and you hated it. This marked the beginning of the end of your friendship. Once you graduated and went to basic training, you talked to Jake less and less. Seeing him here was startling to say the least.
"Oh uh... yeah... didn't recognize you I guess," you said awkwardly, avoiding eye contact.
You scanned the venue for a familiar face to start a conversation with so you could get away from Jake. He seemed to notice this and tilted your chin up so you were looking at him.
"You here with anyone," Jake asked.
"Just uh... my dad," you decided to leave the 141 out of it so Jake wouldn't get angry and try anything.
"Mhm, how about I buy you a drink then?" he suggested.
"Uhm no... I've got one already," you gestured with your half empty glass. plus, you wanted to keep a clear mind in case Jake tried anything.
The night went on and you finally broke off from Jake. You floated in-between conversations, still no sign of Ghost, but you had seen Gaz and Soap briefly. In the midst of your search for the Lieutenant, you found yourself on the dance floor. Unfortunately, Jake found you too.
"Ah, Y/N, thought I lost you there,"
You chuckled uncomfortably, trying to keep it polite. The song switched to a slow dance and Jake reached for your hand.
"Seeing you here has brought me back," he whispered in your ear. "You've matured since high school" He places his other hand on your waist and you try to wiggle away.
"Jake stop"
"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners. May I have this dance?" He smirked.
"No. No you may not," You didn't know if it was the alcohol or not but you suddenly gained the courage to push him away, leaving all formalities behind.
"Y/N come on... we're made for each other, I know you better than anyone," Jake's voice grew more stern and threatening as he pulled you closer again.
"I...no...n-" your voice squeaked.
Suddenly, Jake's face turned pale, his eyes widened and you felt a hand on your shoulder.
"She's taken," Ghost says bluntly.
You are shocked at the turn of events and spin around to see Ghost, which causes you to fall a little off balance, but ghost places a strong hand on the small of your back to support you.
"I've gotcha, this prick won't bother you anymore," he says softly to you. His voice becomes more menacing when he faces Jake, "are we clear?"
The three words from Ghost are all it takes for Jake to give a quick nod and make his exit. Ghost gives a quick grunt "An old friend?"
"Yeah, something of the sort..." you breathe, watching him go.
Ghost clears his throat, "Sorry i'm late."
"It's no big deal, you came just in time."
"Yeah, just in time to dance with you."
Your heart rate quickens as you process his words. Is he joking? there's no way...
Soon enough, the two of you are whisked into the whirlwind of couples, Ghost dips and spins you with great care, as if you are a fragile porcelain doll. You've danced with men before, but this man makes you feel like a princess.
"You look gorgeous by the way," he says softly.
Okay, no way he's actually saying this, i'm dreaming.
"You look uh... good... er handsome yourself," you say breathlessly.
Come on liquid courage! do something other than make me tipsy!
You continue to move fluidly all over the floor, "You've got some experience I see," you joke.
"Mmh... maybe I just did my research beforehand," he smirked.
The song ends and the two of you take a seat. You take him in, his suit, which shows off his biceps and seems perfectly tailored to him. His balaclava, which he exchanged for a plain black one instead of skull print.
"You clean up nicely, trying to impress someone?" You say teasingly.
"I guess you could say that," he shrugs nonchalantly.
Now that's an answer you weren't expecting.
You sit in silence for a moment before Ghost speaks up. "That guy back there, was he trying anything on you?"
"To dance with me, yeah."
Ghost furrows his eyebrows, "and you know him?"
"Yeah... long story."
"Hm."
More silence follows until Ghost speaks again. "Seeing you with him, I didn't like that one bit," he looks straight ahead, not at you.
"Jealous?" you smirk.
"Yeah I uh... I guess you could say that," he sighs, still looking ahead.
Silence again
"You know what, fuck it," Ghost says slightly louder. "I didn't like seeing you with whatever his name was because I like you." he says matter-of-factly.
Your breath catches "I...I-you...me..."
he did not just say that
"I like you a lot and I couldn't give a fuck what our ranks are or who your father is, I just want... no, I NEED you to be mine," He continues.
"I...I uh... yes," You are embarrassed at how much of a nervous wreck you are right now.
"I'm taking that as a you like me back," Ghost says.
"Y-yes," you breathe.
You slowly get more comfortable as the night drags on, you never leave the side of your new boyfriend as the two of you bask in each other.
"All I want to do right now is dote on you and love you, show you my caring side," Ghost says at one point.
You giggle, "is the alcohol getting to you? Are you going to regret this in the morning?"
"Nope, completely sober, wouldn't want to forget this night with you."
The rest of the night is like a dream, you can't help but picture how the following days will be with this new relationship. hopefully this hangover won't be a smack in the face in the morning.

Hey guys, it is @wildflagsure birthday today and last night she demanded I make a "really good" post for her for her birthday. She can't help it, she's from Greece but lives in the UK and what I have heard is immigrants there are always coming in and demanding things, it's why as a country they decided to set their economy on fire, because if you make your little island completely unlivable then no one will want to move there. Not that tactic I would have taken but then I try not be a hateful bigot, so who am I to talk? Anyway, besides blaming @wildflagsure for all of England's problems (and like⊠where was she when they lost the Empire? She can't account for her whereabouts) I do want to celebrate her birthday. By talking about myself. I mean, it is my blog, I tagged her twice, I am not sure how much more giving a person can be. I'll drive literally tens of people to her dead blog. Anyway, my favorite thought about Andi, which I will call her from here out because first I am tired of tagging and second I think it looks cooler with the E not on it but also it's short for Antigone and I can change a T to a D for a friend but I'll be dead and buried before I leave off the apostrophe if you insist on shortening Antigone to Anti'e. Anyway, my favorite thought is when she was doing a small radio show live (and doing it wrong, rather than use the service that paid for the songs rights they just played shit off of spotify because literally no one cared) I used to listen every week cause it was fun to support her but also she likes good music. There was a listener request form and I used to submit requests. I did this for a few reasons. One, I learned on tumblr every single person in the world wants more asks. It is exciting and makes them feel special. Also, by sending multiple requests or messages a show it meant they would seem very popular to other listeners and you know, fake it till you make it, that way everyone else would go, "Wow, these guys must be more famous than I realized. I should tell my friends to listen and also send in requests". And then, obviously, I like to control women and tell them what to do, so it was a real rush to send in a song title and then make her do it. Anyway, there was a time when the person she did it with referred to me as, "Our fan". And that got a snap back of, "Actually, is MY friend". It was very defensive and I appreciated that in part it came from the fact that her cohost was trying to diminish me in a way that person liked to do and Andi was willing to stand up and protect me even though honestly, I didn't care. She did, that mattered. I mean, there was a lot going on there because her cohost was one of those lowkey monsters you meet in your late teens and early 20's who you find compelling because you are too young to know better but also because you are insecure and the fact that they have absolutely no moral center is appealing because it sure must be nice to not be insecure and upset and worried about things all the time. Andi eventually moved on, don't worry. Actually, it's really cool to see that she has matured into just a totally cool as fuck lesbian bad ass. I mean, she was always those things but now she has the confidence and a really cool life that she always was going to have but I bet she was unaware of. Like, she has her own place, she has a hot girlfriend, she eats cool meals, and she can get you any drugs you want. It's pretty cool.
Anyway, today I am posting Georgia Ellenwood because in my experience Andi loves Olympic Athletes. She always goes on that she's glad someone is honoring Zeus properly. Now, sadly, Georgia Ellenwood is not going to the Olympics this year because she is still recovering from an injury. That kind of thing is always sad, athletes only have so many chances but I think she has a good future ahead of her even outside of sports because she is charming and friendly and well⊠looks like she does. It's not hard to imagine her being successful doing other things. And even if she felt like a good pick today because even if she isn't going to the Olympics I am willing to bet @wildflagsure would be willing to burn down a second island nation to sleep with her. Today I want to fuck Georgia Ellenwood.

Y/n Pov
She woke up with an aching headache, luckily it was the weekend. She turned on the tv taking her braids out letting her natural hair breathe.
soon she got up to washing n blow drying her hair, her mind full of thoughts. She styled her hair, cleaned up her room going back to rest in her room.
Damn. These two days were a lot she thought to herself running over the things that happened in two days. Am I just forgiving shuri for doing dumb shit to me? Im just letting her walk over me at this fucking point. you sighed, getting on her for being a playgirl and tryna control her from fucking people when we aren't together, fuck do I look like acting pussy crazed? you made a face while watching your favorite tv show.
You sat there thinking, lost in your thoughts deciding to get your shit together. You can't be out here in ATL crawling on all fours for shuri. You got dressed in a presentable fit, putting jewelry on, fuck I forgot to brush my teeth. You sighed brushing your teeth and putting makeup over the hickeys.
you left your phone at home going next door to the Udaku household you knocked once and Tâchalla answered, there were people in the back. And your brother. âShuri isn't here,â Tâchalla said closing the door but you stopped it with your hand. âNot here for her. thank you.â you said staring up at him âErik is- ânot for him either nigga damn. Where is your mother?â you said getting annoyed with him.
âShe's out back but aren't you too dolled up to be in a garden,â Tâchalla said raising an eyebrow and trying to get smart with youâ boy I don't have the time or energy to deal with you today, either you move or im climbing that bigass fence out back, â you said being deadass serious, they never took you seriously till you got pissy with them.
â ight ight chill ma damn,â said Tâchalla letting you in. You see a woman with locs, she smiled and waved at you, a skin-bald woman focusing on talking to a man who looked like he lived breathed, and worshiped the gym, he made eye contact with you and you shivered walking faster to the back.
You opened the door to the garden seeing Ramonda drinking tea, she was waiting for you. âWhat's wrong umntwana wam?â(my baby) when you got to her table you sighed sitting down.
âI'm just so lost ever since we left Georgia.â You said holding her hand âwell I'm here to listen, tell me everything, whatever you don't tell me I know already, honesty is key.â Said Ramonda smiling softly but being dead serious, ever since you were little she knew everything that happened as if she had eyes everywhere and you didn't know.
You took a deep breath and Ramonda nodded. âWell ever since we were moving here so fast without me being told this I've been so stressed. Because the day after I didn't go to school, Tâchalla and Erik cut connections with each other at 14, and for 3 years we kept fucking moving from school to school and then we came here??â you sounded so fucking confused â And I was so happy to see shuri, I even ignored how I felt when I was with her because she made me feel so happy and good, then when I spent the night we did something, and I couldn't even wake up next to her I woke up in my room, no note no nothing just a text telling me to dress pretty for her like I'm some fucking dollâ you expressed your frustrations while Ramonda watered her plants. She was listening, no matter what she did, she told you to continue either way.
âThen she smacked my butt? Idk why she keeps doing that I never understood the shit. And when I yelped because it hurt Erik and Tâ just acted weird telling me not to scream or they're gonna make sure someone stops breathing?? Like and they were reaching for something too ?? Were normal highschoolers I don't get why it's like this Maamâ you said face planting onto the glass table. âumntwana wam, don't do that it'll bruise your pretty face.â she went behind you taking care of your hair while you spoke to her about what happened.
â And in school, these girls approached me at Gym trying to tell me to avoid shuri cause she's a playgirl, they call me fat like being fat is a bad thing? Then proceed to flirt with shuri in front of me and I guess shuri was âlost in the moment â you said doing air quotes causing Ramonda to make an mm-mm sound . âand said hurtful shit and I didn't know what to do so I did what I did at other schools when I'm overwhelmed, I went to the bathroom but then ran there when the girl's friends ran after me to just give me a panic attack by yelling things and banging on my doorâ you said huffing you felt Ramonda braiding your hair but she was gentle and made sure not to hurt you.
âAnd then the girl I met when I was going to class with Shuri OH NO ABOUT THAt. Her name is Riri, right? She was so nice to me for some reason and we clicked instantlyâ you smiled at the memory âshe helped me hide the gifts.. Shuri leftâ you rolled your eyes and Ramonda smacked your head, you hissed in pain âow!â you say â if you keep rolling those eyes you're gonna roll them to outer space,â she said, â continue.â
You continued â then this weir- I mean odd white boyâ Ramonda never liked the word weird, she doesn't find people weird she finds them misguided. âhe kept staring at me, then the teacher Ms. Romanoff was digging for information out of me, I was so confused because normal teachers don't fucking do that?? And Riri and Shuri already were shaking their heads no, even though I didn't know how to respond. nothing interesting about my family they are just farmers and accountants" she sighed " and then peter, that's the white boy's name btw, he was saying I don't know shit I should, Riri and shuri told him to shut up and just told me to hurry up to gym" you said confused as hell " Peter is right you don't" she said nearly finished with your hair, she was so relaxed while listening, a bird even landed on her shoulder.
"and that led to what I said at the gym, but I ended up crying so hard I threw up, and then Riri offered to help me fix my makeup or make it better, and she did." you smiled again at the bonding moment," she said she was gonna 'air this bitch out ' if they don't leave me alone whatever that means," you said shrugging, the motion made the bird leave.
"then yk the three musketeers came in looking like riri killed someone even though ik she wouldn't, that's illegal and only bad people do it.â you said confidently from what your âmother,â told you.
â then they overwhelmed me, especially Erik trying to question me when I was already WAYY too overstimulated,â you said rubbing your temples while Ramonda did your edges. âI went to the library to fall asleep, I only wanted to skip through lunch, but I skipped 2 whole periods.â you said in a confused manner not knowing you were that tired â Dont do that again, skipping is harmful to your grades.â she interrupted, showing care for you.
âand then shuri for some reason even if she was mad laid her head on my lap, and we ended up doing that. And I forgave her for some reason... That's all Maamâ She nodded sitting down but yelled for Nakia, the girl with braided hair came out â Yes ma'am? â she had a nice voice, and she was pretty too..â could you take this set inside? We're done with our teaâ Ramonda asked not breaking eye contact with you.
âOf course Ma'am" she nodded taking it inside not batting an eye at you. "so before I get into it and be honest with you, I want to meditate with you to make sure you're calm," Ramonda said, getting up placing two mats in the grass. you got on your mat sitting down crisscross applesauce style, Ramonda doing the same.
She guided you throughout the meditation with deep breaths and clearing your mind, you closed your eyes Repeating the steps and doing what you were told.
Tâchalla pov.
I don't know what the fuck her problem was when she came but I kept my cool.
I locked the door closing the blinds, everyone's phone was in a basket with their locations off.
âWho was that? â Mâbaku said, with a smile on his faceânunya damn business nigga leave my sister aloneâ Erik Gave a stank face to Mâbaku, that dude always was a straight up weirdo to him.
âor what ??? You ainât touching me" M'Baku said knowing it was the truth. Erik rubbed his temples " NIGGA SHEES GAAAY." Erik said tired of this beefy ass man. "oh" M'Baku said adjusting himself. Okoye bursted out laughing as Nakia chimed in laughing their asses off. "HAAA HE WAS GONNA TRY TO FUCK ON A GAY GIRL" Nakia laughed wheezing so hard she sounded like she was on life support.
When the two were done laughing like hyenas, the tv turned on as T'challa was presenting " So wbk gang and plug business that's how we thrive here." Everyone nodded some going like mhm, yea. " Recently our shipments have been going missing when in manhattan"T'challa had shown photos of 8 people A Man that look like he was freshly 50, with brown hair and a small beard, a long mustache, at the first incident with the touch passing through Greensboro, North Carolina. the truck driver was shot and the goods were taken.
then a woman that looked like Y/n's teacher, in a black jumpsuit, skintight. The truck was just barely through Charlottesville, she appeared in front of it causing it to crash off the course and blow up.
another one played, this one was familiar to Erik, it was the silhouette of his classmate peter parker. âTâ where these people from?â Erik looked at Tâchalla who looked at Nakia, she came back from outside putting the tea sets on the counter. â They're from manhattan New York, working with Stark industries under stark directlyâ she turned on her computer and connected it to the tv, clicking on google docs.
âThese docs are 67 pages in the counting of the information I collected on them including employee information. and ally information" Nakia said, her voice sounding like candy.
âGet to the point,â Mâbaku said, growing impatient with this talk, okoye rolled her eyes tired of this sassy ass man.
âI messaged you all your targets as the district leaders, you know what to do, quick, clean quietâ Nakia ended her presentation sitting back down as the lights came back on Tâchalla came back to the center.
âDo not by any means involve bystanders that aren't mentioned. â Tâchalla said â Tâchalla I don't get it, if the Kid was born into this why isn't she involved,â Okoye asked leaning against the wall and staring at the 6-foot man, Okoye definitely wasn't for this babying nonsense, she's grown, time to put her work in. â shes soft, sheâd fuck up,â Said Tâchalla deflecting her statement.
âLike Erik hasn't fucked up? He fucked up taking territory, and shipment deals ain't that why you petty ass niggas ain't friends no more because of that? But * she mocked Tâchalla babying y/n* âoh she's just a babyââ Okoye rolled her eyes to mars and back âif it's too much on her then that's that but you need to see her as a grown ass woman, not a childâ Okoye said clearing Tâchalla
He looked at Nakia for help and she shrugged him off âshe's right, shuri literally controls a districtâ Nakia seconds Okoyes point âbut you do need to stop.â Nakia and Okoye sighed in unison â But as you said don't involve bystanders right? Don't involve her in thisâ Nakia said, it was a threat to Tâchalla, and she didn't wanna see that kid in the business they were in.
Y/N pov
When You and Ramonda finished our meditation she sat me down explaining everything.
âyou had to move from your last home because Erik had messed up a deal, he accidentally left the backpack full of the goods he was selling, and you know how that goes.â Y/n looked at Ramonda, not believing her, this shit sounded like the stuff thatâd be in the movies. âYou moved because it was trouble and would threaten your life since you hung around the customer, and they knew where you livedâ she said "Don't believe it? read "
she tossed the newspaper to me and y/n read it. she couldn't believe it all when she got done reading she looked at Ramonda. "Is this gonna affect how you see us and your family?" Ramonda looked at her, hoping the girl wouldn't have said the wrong answer. âNo. I know you guys aren't bad. But I have a questionâ Y/n said causing Ramonda to raise her eyebrow â have any of you killed anyone?â Y/n said and Ramonda nodded.
âJustified in our eyes, they killed our members so we killed theirs.â Ramonda sipped her drink â you won't be involved due to your heart being soft, and your little entanglement with shuri.âRamonda said, wanting to avoid problems and issues in her business "oh, and about shu- "don't put all your peas in the pod, and shuri is just misguided and confused as are you, find your path." Ramonda interrupted "Oh and go to the store with The kids and their friends yeah? Here's the list. Use the car too" Ramonda handed me the list, wow that's a lot to unpack.
when I went in the house shuri was in the kitchen, she smiled at me, I wasn't gonna ignore her, I smiled back at her" Cmon Ramonda said we need to go to the grocery store" everyone turned their heads to me as I said that, T'Challa came over to me grabbing for the list but I smacked his hand. âI'm not a baby, don't baby me. I can get the stuff too, I'm a grown-ass woman Tâchallaâ you snapped, stored anger coming out âShe told me to drive too so cmonâ you said walking through the living room and heading outside, the crew near the couch and shrugged not caring who drives. Everyone had come out with masks n hats on, shuri too.
You saw how good she looked, biting your lips and looking her up and down, but you shook your head not giving in to the temptations of that woman, Okoye, M'baku, and nakia hopped in their cars. you used the keys to unlock the car hopping in, shuri hopping in next to You, the two boys that were left sitting in the back.
âMa, can you not crash this car ? We need it â shuri said to you joking âbefore we drive im saying this to all of youâ they looked at y/n confused as hell. â Dont baby me. The shit is weird and im grown Aight?im not little anymore, babying me makes me uncomfortable, so treat me seriously" you said starting up the car , you drived infront of the other three, them following behind.
"What makes you think we baby you Y/n?" Erik said geniunely not noticing. " you treat me like i cannot handle my own situations, do everything for me and not let me do anything, when i want space you invade it and comfort me like im a child throwing a tantrum. dont do that shit anymore, this includes you shuri" you said with a monotone voice finally setting boundaries.
Erik nodded looking at T'challa, he also nodded accepting what y/n said. Shuri nodded slowly kissing her teeth.
You loved the sight of her being pissed off, she doesn't like being called off on shit she did as a mistake. you parked in front of nakia got out of the car taking the keys.
you hummed getting a cart, "wait get inside it" shuri said to me, with a smile on her face. "hmm.. alright ill go with your idea." You said hopping and sitting in the cart.
Shuri, pushed the cart with me inside, T'challa had split the list up for us to split up and get the items so they weren't in this store for long.
First me and shuri went down the dairy isle, we picked some things out , mainly eggs, then she span me around fast causing me to grip the cart tight. she giggled looking at me " stop taking everything seriously, have a little fun"
shuri said playing with my braids "mmmh my mom did this?" she tugged on it causing me to smack her hand.
"yeah she did and I look pretty." you took her advice and improved, you felt so free now, Shuri would grab seeds tossing them in. "I'm still mad at you though," you said, shuri kept going saying mhm â because every time I'm upset you comfort me and we end up fucking, like I enjoy us fucking but when I need space I expect you to give it, and ill do the same." you looked back at her and she gave a kiss on your lips.
"im sorry my Nkosazana, ill take note of that to make your experience with me better." she gently strokes your face causing you to melt. "mmh hate when you just do that" you crossed tour arms pretending you weremt affected, you werent gonna let her she the affect she has on you. "what its just a kiss? am i not allowed to do that now mami?" Shuri smirked putting more stuff in the cart.
"Ah my legs are asleep, i wanna get out." you got out the cart with Shuri's help, wobbeling abit since your legs were asleep for 5 minutes. Shuri cackled at how you wobbled getting some ideas for later.
"Not today satan!" you said walking away from her as you heard her say so damn loud the entire store good hear almost " damn i love to see you go but hate to see you leavee.." she said without any shame in the world.
you walked faster bumping into Riri at the store, shuri was behind you but Riri wasnt paying no mind to her.
"Oh thanks for redoing my makeup i needed that yesterday" You said smiling at riri. "oh no problem, youre the world to me so id do anything to stop a friend crying" Riri smiled.
You gave her a hug, Riri's head laying in between your breasts, when you finished the hug she raised an eyebrow. "god damn i almost got suffocated between them bitches." Riri laughed causing you to laugh so hard you hold your stomach " god damn Ri your laugh is fucking contageous " you Sighed feeling eyes on you, you turned to shuri and man she wasnt happy, you dont know how but you wanted her to feel like how you felt yesterday.
"byee riri, oh wait! "you put on red lipstick, dark from your bag. "stay still f'me " you crouched, Riri taking offense to it, looking you up and down but her eyes wandering to your breast, then her eyes moving to shuri whose eyes were burning through her skull watching Y/n kiss her forehead.
âDamn Y/n thats all the love i get? I see now you js dont love your new bestie then.â Riri said, she was smart enough to know what you were doing, you planted kisses all over her face before going back to shuri, at this point your lipstick was off.
"okokay im done now lets check out!" you said with a smile,Shuri remained silent,moving to checkout. The cashieer didnt look at Shuri neither did the bagger. you hummed helping them , you looked at shuri seeing her text someone, you shrugged going outside.
You used the keys to T'challas car to unlock the trunk safely putting all the goods inside, closing the trunk.
LATER
You took a shower at shuri's, for some reason Ramonda told you to stay the night, out of curiousity, You sat on shuri's bed wearing a big T-shirt,no panties.
Shuri came in late, your eyes were on the tv hearing her close and lock the door,in this house when doors are locked no one goes upstairs, especially when its Shuri.
"Oh? how was your little buisness trip?"you looked at her with a innocent smile"buisness trip? ma i didnt go on no damn trip." Shuri said looking at you, she was already frustrated and upset yet you pushed further.
"oh dont lie to me i already know , your mother told me, so how was it." you looked back at the tv hearing shuri get close , her sweat going past the chains she waas wearing.
"do i need to teach you to mind your fucking buisness?" she gripped my jaw roughly turning me to face her,her eyes staring at me like i lost my damn mind " who are you talking to because it isnt m-" before you could even finish, her hand moved to your throat, turning your pussy into a pool. she was nearly choking you if she didnt have restraint.
"Say something smart and i will fuck you till you cant even think of some smart shit to say t'me, im most deffinently not the one bitch. you already pissed me off and im not in the moods for your games" She said, her accent coming out as she looked down at me as if i was a mere pet to her.
" takes a bitch to know o-" Again i couldnt get a word out, Shuri would let go of my throat and jaw flipping me over to where im on my stomach.
She got ontop of me whispering in my ear. "give me your verbal consent and ill pleasure you better then no woman can. ill have you wishing you were mine. ill even have you knowing who this pussy belongs to yeah?" She said in my ear, her accent turning me on. I'd nod and she yanked my hair back causing me to look up "Verbal.
I don't do that nodding shit." she said spitting venom at me â Y-yes..â I whimpered out âyes what? Am i gonna have to teach you proper manners?â She said tilting her head, id only know this from the mirror she's forcing me to look at. âYes mommy,â I said the shame leaving my body.
âatta girl. I wanna try somethinâ newâ she unhooked my bra with one hand âsit up.im gonna get something right quick.â You sat up, your body acting against you once more.
You heard the Drawer open, looking at the stuff shuri pulled out, yet her back was blocking you from seeing, she left the room coming back with a clean strap on, rope and a blindfold.
âShuri i dont thi- âi know you dont think, speak when youre told to.â She said
Tying you up making sure all you could move was your lower half.
Shuri blindfolded you tying it around you,you felt something graze against your skin, something sharp, you were scared yet aroused. "I dont get it Sthandwa.(my love) you know damn well im better than every bitch you could be with" she said, her eyes following your body. "You trying to make me jealous with Riri is crazy. You know damn well that girl cant do what i do." she kissed down your body, you felt the pretty marks she left.
"You aint catch what i said last time.." she whispered in your ear biting it gently, she left kisses and hickeys everywhere, every corner and area was covered.
she pulled me closer to her, flipping me onto my back facing her. i kicked her back putting up a challenge, she moved catching my leg. " i hope you dont fight this messy, you'd get your ass beat baby" she went to my wet pussy putting two fingers in, slowly thrusting them, I arched my back moaning, the way she thrusted and curled them made eyes roll back.
The squelching was heard causing Shuri to give a seductive 'mmh.' in response, she thrusted faster causing me to rock my hips with the thrusts my eyes watering , "ffuck im gonna cum soon Shurii.." Y/n moaned.
Shuri stopped towering over y/n, a frown over her face "Forget the name you know me by." Shuri demanded " when im pleasuring you, when im making love you, you will adress me as Ma'am, mommy, daddy wtv." She stared at me, you knew what she wants you to say, you dont wanna say it though. and yet my body yearns for her touch"Please Mommy . please can i cum from your fingers?" you whined out for her, soon enough she inserted her cold fingers back into your pussy abusing your G spot.
You arched your back to gour best abilities, unable to do it as well as you wanted due to the velvet ropes on your your body.
Your fluids went all over her fingers, you panted as your chest heaved up and down "mmh you look so pretty right now" shuri coo's tracing my figure with her knife.
" i dont 'preciate you kissin on other women baby." she frowned mocking me.
HOURS LATER.
You were shaking, your fluids dripping down youd legs after youve been edged so much. you could barely even think about anything, your words slurred as you were a moaning mess.
Shuri turned off the vibrator as soon as you were so close to cumming.
"now who are you thinking of hm? is it me? Sthandwa" (my love) she smiled at you, gently caressing your face.
"My brain is only full of you Mommy, please,I wanna cum" you begged and whined grinding against nothing, your fluids leakinf on her silky white sheets.
Her strap teased your folds as you whined "say the magic words." She said with a chuckle. "please fuck me, I deserve it, I deserve it so much" you wanted to reach for her but you couldn't, maybe if you weren't bratting, you wouldn't be tied up.
Shuri entered you slowly causing you to bite your lips, âit hhurts dont mmoveâ you whinced in pain â âs okay baby, tell me when i can. Ill be gentle with you , for a short amount if time of courseâ she said, after a while the pain was gone â you can move now i promiseâ you said nodding .
She thrusted slowly inside of me. Keeping the Rythm, she knew what she was doing, You wiggled in your restraints wanting to touch and hold her desperately.
â Aww y/n wanna touch? Too bad. Maybe if you kept your lips to yourself this wouldn't have happenedâ she hissed out, she thrusted faster pleasuring you, her fingers circling your clit.
Your stomach turned into a knot as you bit your lips moaning louder, your sweet moans echoing throughout the house.
âGonna cum again baby? Go ahead, ill let you ride your highâ she set faster turning your brain into mush, you squirted uncontrollably as you twitched, panting,your senses were so overstimulated yet so deprived.
Shuri untied you ,gently removing your blindfolds,she picked you up carying you to the bathroom sitting you in the bathtub, once the bath was full, and (y/f/c) with (f/f) petals in it thanks to shuri.
âmmh. That was... A new experienceâ Y/n said sinking into the tub,âwhy dont you get in shuri, its big enough for two of us.â You said with a tired smile.
âMmm.. Nah im good, jusâ let me take care of you maâ Shuri said dismissing the idea of being taken care of. âMmm please mommy?â you said smiling .
â Le intombazana izoba kukufa kwam.â she said looking up to any god that was left to help her. (This girl will be the death of me ) she undressed what left she had on, getting in.
LATER.
The two girls laid in bed together cuddled upon eachother, ofc y/n was the little spoon.
âWhy cant i have you?â Y/n said looking up at shuri, she yawned trying to keep her eyes open. â were both not ready yet. â shuri said kissing my head. âShit we havent had an actual kiss yet and you want us to- You interrupted her by kissing her passionately on her lips. Shuri kissed back moving y/n to ontop of her.
âY/n if you want me take your time with yourself and me. Do you even know if you like me?â Shuri said, pulling y/n close and hugging her.
âI dont know... I dont even know what liking feels like.. Im too tired to think right now...â y/n said falling asleep.
shuri looked at her shaking her head.
âI'll give you all the time in the world.â shuri kissed her head before shutting her eyes.

MADELINE GRIMES sat on a log at the edge of the camp, her damp hair clinging to her back as the warm georgia sun beat down on her. she had just gotten back from the quarry that was just a short walks away which was her only option to clean herself. ever since society had fell and the dead rose, basic things like having a shower or washing her hair were extremely limited.
her gaze drifted to her younger brother, carl, sitting at a makeshift table with a math book in front of him. his brows were furrowed, and his tongue stuck out between his lips, and it almost made her laugh. he was good at math, but that didnât stop him from protesting. after all, why did he have to do math when school wasnât even a thing anymore? but her mother, lori, as always, just ignored his complaints and insisted he do his homework.
madeline was grateful to be sixteenâold enough to avoid sitting with the younger kids and doing homework. besides, she was a straight-A student before everything went to hell. top of her class in nearly every subjectâexcept phys ed. she hated sports. but everything else? easy Aâs. she didnât need to be sitting with the kids and working on fractions.
lost in her thoughts, madeline didnât hear shane approach from behind until his hand landed on her shoulder. shane had been in her life since she could remember, being her dadâs best friend and all. she jumped, immediately scowling as she turned to face him. she hadnât liked shane since her dad died. he had this hero complex, always trying to step into rickâs shoes. he claimed he was just protecting their family, but madeline wasnât stupid. she saw the way he acted around loriâthe way theyâd sneak off into the woods together. they acted like rick had never existed, and it made her sick.
âhey, maddie,â shane said, sitting down next to her. she dropped her gaze to her shoesâher beloved converse. at least sheâd gotten them for christmas before everything fell apart. âyou doinâ okay?â he asked, his brown eyes full of concern for the girl, but she never believed it was genuine. there was just something different about him now. far from the shane she used to know.
madeline wanted to ignore him, but she knew better. her mom would just get mad and remind her to be politeâhe was âuncle shaneâ after all. that didnât stop the uncomfortable feeling in her gut. âiâm fine,â she muttered, inspecting her nails. she really didnât care how they looked; she just hoped shane would leave her alone. thatâs all she wanted nowadays; to be left alone.
he sighed, and she had to fight back a smile. she knew she got under his skin when she barely spoke to him. it was one of the few small joys she had left: annoying shane.
âyou eaten today, kid?â he asked, removing his cap to run a hand through his hair before putting it back on. madeline nodded, a small âyepâ coming from her lips, keeping her answers short. she hoped heâd take the hint and leave, and, after a moment, he did. âalright, well⊠let me know if you need anything, âkay?â with that, he got up and walked back toward the camp.
her gaze lingered on him for a moment as he walked back towards the rest of the group, specifically her mother. the cocky swagger in his step was prominent, but you could also tell he was stressed. everyone was. and she did feel bad, but he just tried way too hard in her eyesâ making himself the self proclaimed leader of the group, and everyone seemed to go along with it just because he had been a cop.
since learning about rickâs shooting, and the beginning of the apocalypse, madeline had withdrawn from everyone. she would constantly replay those moments in her mind; her mother sitting at the kitchen counter in their house, waiting for her eldest child to come home from school to break the news to her sixteen year old that her father was in a coma, and they didnât know if he would wake up. and then she remembers a few weeks, maybe a month, later when lori had come into her room, telling her to pack her stuff because they were leaving nowâ without her dad. it had felt like a punch to the gut. shane had gone back to the hospital during that time too, later âconfirmingâ rickâs death, claiming heâd checked for a heartbeat and found nothing. ever since then, madeline barely spoke to anyone.
it wasnât just their family and shane at the atlanta camp either. other survivors had joined them. there were the peltiersâed, carol, and their daughter sophia, who was close in age to carl. then the morales family: morales, miranda, and their two kids, eliza and louis jr. the harrisonsâ with andrea and amy. t-dog and jacquie, known as the douglas family, were there too.
glenn, dale, and the dixons also made up the group. madeline liked glenn; he was always kind, and they bonded over movies. he was a little older than her, only in his early twenties. dale let her borrow books from his rvâthough most of them were boring, she appreciated the gesture from the older male.
as for the dixons, lori and shane didnât want her or carl speaking to them. not that she was planning on it. merle pissed her off the most, especially when he called her âgirlie.â daryl, on the other hand, wasnât so bad. he didnât talk much anyway.
deciding sheâd had enough of the sun, madeline stood and made her way toward the rv to find a new book, considering she had finished the copy of âto kill a mocking birdâ. most of daleâs books were old classics she had already read, but beggars couldnât be choosers. once she was halfway there, she heard the c.b. radio crackle to life.
âhello. hello. can anybody hear my voice?â
it was a manâs voice, but the static made it hard to understand. madeline watched as amy, dropping the sticks she was carrying, scrambled to grab the mic. she knew finding other survivors was important, but why bother? it was just going to turn to shit for them in the long run.
if there was a long run.
she furrowed her brows at the commotion but kept walking. dale had given her free rein to the rv, and she appreciated the quiet escape it offered. once inside, she looked through the stacks of books and grabbed a copy of the catcher in the ryeâ another classic she had already read, but she didnât mind it.
as she stepped back outside, book in hand, she spotted shane now trying to respond through the radio.
âhello, hello. is the person who called still on the air? this is officer shane walsh broadcasting to person unknown. please respond.â
madeline rolled her eyes. shaneâs insistence on clinging to his cop identity annoyed her. it was like he craved the authorityâ the respect. and it worked on everyone else but her.
she used to be kind to himâ hell, she used to love him, she really did. sometimes heâd pick her up from school in the patrol car when her parents had to go to the school for carl, or heâd always make sure to pick up a new barbie doll for her, every single birthday, but things were different now. and she resented him.
âheâs gone,â shane said, glancing up at the group gathered around himâlori, carl, dale, amy, and a few others.
âthere are others,â lori said softly, âitâs not just us.â
from the doorway of the rv, madeline watched. she didnât care much for the conversation anyway. instead, she turned back inside to sit at the small table and opened her book, letting her head rest on her hand as she read.
lost in her own little world as she read the angsty words of holden caulfield, she hadnât noticed carl make his way into the rv until he was interrupting her.
âmaddie?â carl was one of the only ones that called her maddieâ besides her parents of course. usually, she preferred âmadsâ, only because growing up she had been bullied by a girl called maddie, but she didnât really care anymore. the other maddie was probably dead now, anyway.
âhey, buddy. whatâs up?â she asked, folding the corner of her page and closing the book. she probably shouldnât fold the pages of other peopleâs books, but she didnât have a bookmark.
âmomâs mad at shane,â he whispered, sliding into the seat across from her, his chin resting in his hands as he pouted at her. âshe wanted to put signs up on the highway to warn people about the city, but shane wonât let her.â
madeline sighed, nodding as she stood up. she could care less if their mom was mad at shane. if it kept him away from her, let her be mad. âcâmon, letâs check on her,â she said, ruffling carlâs hair before following him to their tent. she noticed the tension between her mom and shane. she had noticed it ever since she had realised that shane had a thing for her mom, but she never said anything, because lori had never acted on it. not until now, that was.
âmom?â carl called as they approached, and when shane stepped out of the tent, madeline almost scoffed.
âwhatâs up, bud? sheâs inside. go on,â shane said, ruffling carlâs hair before walking past them, his gaze lingering on madeline.
making her way to the opening of the tent, lori smiled at them both. she knelt in front of carl, holding his hands. âdonât worry, your mamaâs not going anywhere, okay?â her voice was soothing, playful even, like when madeline was younger. she nodded reassuringly at carl. âyeahâyeah?â she smiled as carl nodded back. âgood, now go finish your chores.â
madeline stood silently, arms crossed, watching her brother run off. then she turned to her mother. âso, youâre sneaking around with uncle shane now?â she narrowed her eyes, seeing the guilt wash over loriâs face. âreal classy, mom.â
âmadeline, itâs not what youââ but madeline wasnât listening. before lori could finish, she turned on her heel and stormed off toward the quarry, arms crossed tightly over her chest.
the gravel crunched under her shoes as she hastily made her way towards the quarry, her arms still tightly crossed over her chest, jaw clenched as she fought the growing knot in her stomach. she could hear footsteps behind her but she didnât slow downâshe already knew it was lori.
âmadeline, please! wait!â lori called out, but madeline ignored her, making her way to the edge of the quarry. she stopped by the water, staring out over the still surface, her back stiff and unyielding. she just wished she could keep storming off, wanting to just keep walking until she dropped dead, but the water in front of her prevented that.
lori finally caught up, her breathing labored as she approached. âmaddie, you canât just walk off like that.â
madeline didnât turn around. her voice was cold, distant. âwhatâs the point in staying? so i can watch you and shane pretend like dad never existed?â
loriâs face crumpled, the words hitting hard. âthatâs not what weâre doing,â she whispered, trying to hold on to her composure. âyou donât understand⊠this world isnât the same anymore. heâsââ her voice cracked. âheâs gone, maddie.â
âyeah, and you just moved on, didnât you?â madeline spat, turning on her heel to face her mother. âdad wasnât even dead before you started playing house with shane. how could you do that to him?â she knew she was being harsh, but she was speaking nothing but the truth. and if the truth hurt, then so be it. lori needed to know.
loriâs eyes glistened with tears, guilt etched into every line of her face. âmaddie, shane was just trying to helpââ
âhelp?â madelineâs voice rose, anger spilling out in every word. she wasnât one to get mad like this, not at her mom anyway. but she had been on edge since everything happened. she was finally bursting at the seams. âheâs not helping us. heâs helping you. youâre both acting like dad never existed, like he never mattered!â
âthatâs not true,â lori said, stepping closer, her voice trembling. âyour dad mattered. he mattered more than anything, but we didnât have a choice. we had to survive.â
madeline scoffed, turning away again. âsurvive? by running off into the woods together? thatâs how you survive?â
lori shook her head, her own anger mixing with grief. âit wasnât like that, mads. you donât know what itâs been like for me, for us. i had to make decisions. i had to keep you and carl safeââ
âsafe?â madeline snapped, cutting her off. âdonât pretend this is about me and carl. this is about you not wanting to be alone. you didnât even try to hold on. you didnât wait. you just gave up.â she knew she was being mean, but she couldnât help it. madeline had given up, herself.
loriâs breath hitched, tears slipping down her cheeks. âi never gave up on your father,â she whispered, her voice shaking. âi loved himâi still love him. but heâs gone, madeline. what was i supposed to do?â
madelineâs eyes filled with tears she refused to let fall. it hurt her, listening to how she was making her mom cry, but madeline was angry. âyou were supposed to remember him. you were supposed to wait,â she said, her voice breaking.
the silence between them was thick, suffocating. lori took a tentative step forward, reaching out to touch her daughterâs arm, but madeline flinched away, pulling her arms around her body, as if trying to protect the pieces of herself that still ached.
âmaddieâŠâ loriâs voice was soft, desperate. âiâm trying. iâm just trying to hold this family together.â
madelineâs eyes burned with unshed tears as she turned to face her mother. âyouâre not holding us together. youâre replacing him. and you donât even care.â
loriâs face crumpled, her heart breaking at the accusation. âi do care,â she whispered, her voice barely audible. âi think about him every day. i miss him every day.â
madeline looked away, back to the water. her voice was softer now, but the hurt was still there, raw and exposed. âyou donât act like it.â
lori swallowed hard, wiping at her tears. âi canât bring him back, maddie. i wish to god i could, but heâs gone. and weâre still here. we have to keep going, even if it hurts.â
madelineâs silence stretched on, the only sound the soft ripple of the quarry. she didnât respond, her face set in that same defiant expression that had become her shield since her fatherâs death.
lori took a deep breath, realizing she wasnât going to get through to her, at least not today. âiâm here, maddie,â she said quietly, her voice full of emotion. âwhenever you want to talk, iâm here.â
madelineâs eyes stayed locked on the water, her expression unreadable. âyou can go back to shane now,â she muttered bitterly.
lori opened her mouth to say something more, but the weight of madelineâs words silenced her. she turned slowly and began to walk back toward camp, her footsteps heavy as she left madeline standing alone by the quarry, lost in her anger and grief.

A Childhood of Clownery
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing an older lady who had clowns in her childhood. As we all know, keeping clowns as personal pets is a rather new phenomenon. Previously, only traveling circuses could afford to keep clowns permanently, and most of the older generation could only afford to rent a clown for special occasions, like birthday parties. This is what made this interview that much more interesting!
Without further ado, here is the interview:
Clorvismaximus: I'm delighted to announce that we're here today with Dorrie, a storyteller from the heart of Dixie, ready to share tales of growing up with a special friendâa clown named Doodles. Now, Dorrie, tell us, what was it like having a clown as a childhood companion?
Dorrie: Oh, it was a hoot and a half, I tell ya. Doodles the clown was a Southern gentleman of the Homo Ridiculus varietyâhis rainbow hair and outfit brighter than a Georgia sunrise.
C: Sounds like he was a real character. Can you walk us through some of your favorite memories with Doodles?
D: Well, sugar, every day was a page out of a country song. Doodles had this way of turnin' the everyday into somethin' magical. Imagine balloons bein' gateways to pretend worlds and confetti showers just 'cause it's Tuesday. His bag of tricks was like a treasure chest, holdin' surprises that kept my heart twirlin'.
C: Doodles certainly knew how to bring the joy. How did your relationship with him evolve over time?
D: Doodles wasn't just a pet; he was kin. We'd sit on the porch, talkin' 'bout triumphs, heartaches, and dreams as the fireflies danced. As the years rolled by, he stayed the sameâa source of joy in a world that was gettin' busier by the minute. Our home became a haven where human and clown mixed like cornbread and collard greens.
C: Sounds like a special bond. Any down-home wisdom Doodles shared with you?
D: Absolutely. Doodles had this knack for droppin' nuggets of wisdom. Lessons 'bout findin' joy in the little things and the power of a simple smile. He wasn't just a pet; he was like a Southern granny sharin' the secrets of a good, happy life.
C: It's clear Doodles left a mark on your heart. How did his final journey impact you?
D: Oh, darlin', when Doodles set off on his final journey, the streets of Whimsyville got a mite quieter, and the sky lost a bit of its charm. But as I think back on them good ol' days, my heart's filled with gratitude for the memories we cooked up together.
C: Well, thank you, Dorrie, for sharing this heartfelt tale of Doodles and your childhood. It's been a delight to hear your story.
D: My pleasure, sweatheart. Sometimes, the best stories are the ones we live, and Doodles was the star of my favorite chapter.
I hope you all have found this just as fascinating as I have. Clown care has evolved considerably since Dorrie's childhood years, yet I can see the beginnings of what we have today in Dorrie's memories. I teared up hearing about Doodles departing on his final journey. All clowns must migrate, as we all know, but us clown owners can't help but feel heart broken when it's our clown's turn to start their final journey.

Parallels: Con Char stuff WOOHOO
Just a bunch of random tidbits for The Merricks and Cris! Also included some doodles based off of Pinterest studies of the father/daughter duo for a lil something extra ;D
Harper's mom was born in Georgia, so she's got a Southern twang that Harper has as well. Harper's accent only comes out when she's upset, excited, tired, or if she goes back to the Southern States. It isn't very noticeable nowadays due to her and her dad moving around so much and living in different States.
Brent is from Florida, which is where he met Harper's mom, Crystal. This is a recent (see: today) epiphany I had since I can now officially call him a Florida Man đ
Christina is from Ireland, and still has a very strong accent despite being in the States for several years. She uses a lot of slang and can be difficult to understand at times (when she's angry), which Brent will tease her about. She only becomes more indistinct when he riles her up.
Brent has a younger brother who was successful and became a doctor, and is the only one in contact with their dad (mom died when Brent was in his late teens). His brother and dad don't know about Harper or the marriage with Crystal that lasted for a whole two seconds, and Brent prefers it that way. He'll contact them around holidays but via very short phone calls or texts to let them know he's alive (maybe not well) and not in jail đ
Crystal didn't consider herself to be the best mother, but she did what she could with Harper until the girl's powers started to manifest. She had no idea what was going on since a lot of really unlucky things (or just uncanny/creepy things) kept happening to her whenever Harper got upset; she isn't the sort to believe in curses, but she did think something was Wrong with Harper (and probably a little scared of her), which is why she was so insistent on reconnecting with ex-husband Brent and giving custody of their daughter to him. She wasn't sure if the next "accident" would be something that she wouldn't walk away from đŹ
Christina only works for Farran, the CEO of an up and coming pharmaceutical company geared towards superhumans, because she owes him. She won't say why or how (it's a very touchy subject for her), but she feels like she's indebted and won't be free of him until he says her debt is paid in full. She hates her job, but she's stuck, so she'll do it to the best of her ability.
Harper knows a lot of nifty card tricks and con games from her dad; she would play the shell game with her school peers and tricked them out of their lunch money before someone snitched and she'd be confronted by a teacher. She's also learned to be perceptive so she can spot little tells in others. She's very good at doing this with Brent, much to his frustration since he's the one who taught her to look for tells in others, just not him!
Brent's tychokinesis comes with a trade off; ex. he could get shot, but he'd be lucky enough where it wouldn't hit anything vital (though it'll still hurt like heck and he might have lost enough blood--but just enough!--to survive and get back on his feet in a week). He didn't realize this at first and was confused on why his luck seemed to run out or turn sour after long streaks of fortune. He can also "transfer" it to others around him, so he might get the brunt of the blow of "bad luck" while they walk away unscathed.

Even though you didnât technically ask for it, hereâs a three word prompt!
Brenda/Sharon (obv): âitâll be funâ
Thanks for the ask! This is only a snippet of the story (because I am long-winded and cannot help myself lol). For anyone that wants to read the whole thing, please feel free to check it out on AO3:
âOh come on, itâll be fun. âspecially now that itâs dark and all the lights are on!â Brenda batted her eyelashes at her girlfriend.
âAm I in the Twilight Zone? Iâve practically had to drag you on every roller coaster in this park today. Why âWonder Womanâ? Why now?â Sharon asked, stupefied.
âWell, sheâs my favorite of all the superheroes, and you know I always call you my own personal Wonder Woman. So I gotta try this ride at least once.â Brenda smiled at Sharon with stars in her eyes and the goofiest of lovesick grins.
The brunette chuckled then leaned in and whispered in Brendaâs ear. âYes. I remember the first time I found that revealing little Wonder Woman lingerie number waiting for me on the bed the night we moved in together. You had a lasso lying there and everything.â She laughed again.
Brenda gulped, remembering. âYeahâŠthat wasâŠthat was a good night.
So how about it, pretty lady? Just one more ride for the road?â
Sharon raised an eyebrow. âWell, I was ready to go home and offer to take you on another kind of ride, one where you wouldnât have to wait in lineâŠâ
Brenda swallowed hard again.
ââŠbut I wouldnât want to put a damper on your enthusiasm. Still, I never would have thought Iâd see the day.â
âOh pffft, Iâm sure you and all of Major Crimes never would have thought youâd see the day Iâd come back to the L.A.P.D. to take your old job as head of FID after you took mine, but here we are!â Brenda laughed, and Sharon shook her head. Her dear girlfriend did have a point.
So the couple got in the very long line for âWonder Woman Flight of Courageâ and waited for their last ride of the evening. Sharon watched as Brenda bit at her nails, chewed on her lip, and whimpered like a scared puppy, more and more with each minute that passed and every step toward the loading platform they took.
The Wonder Woman themed coaster was by far the tallest and fastest coaster at the park, and Sharon was aware that Brenda knew it was her favorite ride of all time. But she also knew that Brenda didnât just randomly volunteer herself to go on roller coasters, even with Sharon. Although Brenda typically ended up enjoying herself in the end, her anticipatory nerves would usually get the better of her as the pair would advance in line. Once the women were in the coaster car ascending up that first big hill, Brenda would often fall apart, either by going radio silent and eventually squeaking in fear, or if the coaster was a particularly intense one, bursting into tears until the water works quickly evolved into a cackling joyous laughter. If it was a group outing, one of the guys would have to dare her or instigate a challenge to get her on the ride.
Sharon smiled as she remembered the exchange between Brenda and Lieutenant Provenza when the group of friends were all at the park the month before: âI see things in the South havenât changed much since the Civil War huh? âYâallâ are a bunch of yellow-bellied wimps. They should call you Georgia pansies, instead of peaches. No wonder you lost the war!â
Brenda was very transparent when she was aggravated. She scrunched her face and puckered her lips. Staring straight ahead she would not make eye contact with the lieutenant, refusing to take the bait.
âWe all know your lady is the wicked witch, but YOUâRE the cowardly lion, thatâs even worse in my opinion.â
Brenda had known Provenza was purposely trying to get a rise out of her, but Sharon watched and knew the instant the chiefâs body ignited from head to toe with fiery rage.
âThose are fightinâ words, and youâre gonna eat them!â
For the brilliant manipulator Brenda was, she was also very easy to manipulate in certain situations. And that was all it took for her friends to get her onto the roller coaster âFull Throttleâ that day.
But back in the present, Sharon was flummoxed. There had been no begging, no daring, no teasing, or undue influencing. Brenda was actually asking Sharon to go on this ride with her, and not only that, she was asking one of the operators for the front seat! âŠon this ride of unmatched intensityâŠthis ride that as much as Sharon enjoyed it, was the only roller coaster in the park that Brenda had NEVER been on before. Something was wrong here.
And when something was wrong, Sharon would always take it upon herself to get down to the heart of the issue and resolve it right then and there. But today was an exception. Today they were having too much fun together for Sharon to ask one too many questions and potentially talk Brenda out of the whole thing before they even got on the ride. Today was her and Brendaâs first anniversary since they had begun dating, and there was no way she was going to do anything that might cloud the celebratory spirit of their special day.
Finally, it was their turn. Sharon looked over at Brenda as the gates opened and the operators beckoned the pair over to their seats in the very front car of the train. She had never seen anyone smile and cringe so profoundly at the same time. The blonde looked crazed, and Sharon worried she might faint before the ride even started.
The pair sat down and strapped themselves in. Operators on either side came by to press down on the harnesses to make sure they were safely secured in their seats. Before the young man on Brendaâs side of the aisle could fully pull away, she yelled up at him desperately:
âDo me a favor and give it one more tug, will ya?!â
âOh Brenda Leigh.â Sharon couldnât help but giggle.
 The older woman looked around at their surroundings and wondered briefly why the boys hadnât joined them on this particular escapade. They had spent the day together as they often did now that they were all palsy with one another â all of the men being rather enthusiastic about thrill rides and amusement parksâŠwell, all of them apart from Buzz. But the other guys could talk poor Buzz into just about anything. Sharon laughed again when she remembered his futile shout into the empty California wind about âneeding to find new friendsâ as they all plummeted down the first steep drop of âTwisted Colossusâ earlier that day.
But where were they now? Why hadnât Brenda asked them to join them on âWonder Womanâ? Surely, sheâd want the boys to witness her conquering her fears on the biggest baddest ride in Magic Mountain. This was her chance to really stick it to them, especially Provenza.
But Sharon didnât have any more time to worry about the boys. She was too worried about Brenda. The ride started to slowly wheel them out to where they would be suddenly jettisoned up the 210-foot hill. The entire track, the two Ws logo, and the various surrounding areas were all lit up with gorgeous shimmering red, white and blue lights. Â
At first Sharon thought the clicking sound to her left was part of the rhythmic clanking of the chain lift pulling them along the track to their launching spot. When she realized that the sound she was hearing was actually her girlfriendâs chattering teeth, she was immediately consumed with guilt for all the times she had seemingly pressured Brenda into joining her on rides like this one. It was obvious to Sharon now that these experiences were more scary than enjoyable for her.
âBrenda honey listen, I feel just terrible, I donât want you to think you have to do things like this to make me happy. You make me happy, YOU. On the ground. Not being hurled around in the air or falling down a 90 degree drop at 100 miles-per-hour. And believe me, Iâm more than satisfied if the only place Iâll ever hear you scream is in our bed.â She looked over and smiled lovingly as she squeezed her girlfriendâs hand. âAnd donât you worry, I wonât ask you to join me on another roller coaster ever again.â
âOh Sharon, as much as I loved hearinâ you say all that, âspecially the screaminâ in our bed part, believe you me, I wanted to ride this coaster with you, and every other one you ever asked me on. But more importantly, I got somethinâ I wanna ask YOU right nowâŠright this very second before itâs too late.â
Suddenly Brenda lifted her arm into the air, her left hand and fingers fixed in a thumbs up gesture.
Facing the woman she loved, she smiled and pointed forward with her right.
âLook!â she exclaimed.
Sharon gazed forward and there on the illuminated pedestrian bridge that extended over the piece of coaster track about forty feet in front of them, were all their friends â Provenza, Julio, Mike, David, Andy, and Buzz â lifting up giant poster boards over their heads. Brenda raised her right hand now and gave another thumbs up. The men looked at each other, and then all at once the boards lit up in a spectacular display of red, white and blue lights. Each board showcased a different word in a different color to spell out: SHARON RAYDOR, WILL YOU MARRY ME?
Sharon couldnât believe what she was seeing, and soon she really couldnât see it anymore because her eyes were filling with tears that were spilling out onto her glasses and blurring her vision.
No one had ever done anything like this for her. And now this wayward, wonderful, beautiful little blonde woman âthis woman who at one time had worked overtime at being the bane of her existenceâwas the one to do it, to make her feel like she was the queen of her universe, the most cherished woman in the world, to make her feel whole for the very first time in her life.
âSo, whaddaya say, Wonder Woman?â asked Brenda, waggling her eyebrows.Â
Sharon opened her mouth to answer, but in a millisecond the train surged forward at lightning speed sending the couple hurtling up the hill and then careening down it at 120 miles per hour. Sharon had never heard another human being scream like what she heard come out of her girlfriendâs mouth, although as usual, once they were halfway down the first big hill Brendaâs shouting transformed into bellowing laughter. Sharon joined her, with the addition of happy tears sliding down her cheeks. The pair maneuvered so quickly around corners and over mini hills that her tears were carried away by the wind, and Sharon figured the two of them must resemble cartoon characters in the extremity of their expressions that materialized through the course of the ride.
Once their train made it all the way back to the loading station, Brenda remembered she was indeed alive and was still waiting for an answer to her question.
âWell?â Brenda asked with a shaky timbre and a lopsided grin. Her body was still feeling the effects of the coaster ride.
Sharon opened her mouth to answer and happened to look over to her right. She realized not only had their friends made it back to the platform with their signs and were now watching their interactions, but the whole crowd was almost entirely silent, staring intently at the women, seemingly hanging on their every word.
Sharon took her girlfriendâs trembling hands in hers.
âYou went through all of this for me, the least I can do is marry you.â She leaned in and passionately captured Brendaâs lips with her own.
The boys, the crowd, and even the ride operators clapped and cheered. Sharon opened her right eye amidst their kiss and watched Mike, Andy, and Julio pick up their lit poster boards and turn them around. She broke the kiss to laugh when she saw they now read: SHE SAID YES!
