I’m so proud of people living with chronic health conditions. That shit is HARD. Idk who needs to hear this, but if no one else has said it: I’m proud of you. You’re sticking it out through so much pain and grief. That’s no small feat.
Every small thing you do for yourself health adds up. The grief is heavy and it comes from a place of love. The grief knows the pain is wronging you.
I’m proud of you. I hope on the good days you can be proud of yourself.
Keep going.

Market Overview: Colonoscopy devices are used for the diagnosis and treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders. These devices allow physicians to examine the inner lining of the colon and rectum. The advantages of using colonoscopy devices include early detection of colorectal cancer, removal of polyps, and diagnosis of various gastrointestinal conditions. The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer and gastrointestinal disorders is driving the demand for colonoscopy devices. The need for accurate and early diagnosis is also fueling market growth. WHY DOES IBS AS A DIAGNOSIS EXIST?
So, if it doesn’t make any sense, why does it still exist and why do a whole bunch of smart people still use it everyday? Well, the simple answer is: we gravitate towards labels to reduce perceived uncertainty and fear. Translation: it feels less scary to be told you have IBS (along with 10% of the population) rather than “we’re not sure what is wrong with you”. As the man credited with creating the IBS label, Walter C. Alvarez, said in 1947: “The great thing in handling these persons is not to reinforce their fear that there is something seriously wrong with the colon” (4). A label can also allow patients to feel their condition is understandable, that there is research on it and that they are part of a community. It means a person suffering with IBS is not alone or unique, but rather has a condition that others have been able to manage. IBS has historically been known as a diagnosis of exclusion (3). That is, “we haven’t been able to find a specific cause for your symptoms, sorry”. However, because the unknown element of this diagnosis provided little comfort to many sufferers, attempts have recently been made to make the term a ‘positive diagnosis’. That is, a single condition diagnosed with the Rome IV criteria, rather than the ‘wastebasket’ diagnosis of unknown cause/s. But while a label might make this group of symptoms easier to talk about and provide comfort to sufferers in the short term, it actually does little to empower an individual to find a long-term solution to their symptoms. And I am here to tell you, it is VERY likely that there is a solution.

Help a disabled person 🚨
Hi, I’m Hannah. My birthday is in a few weeks, but I will be spending it with appointments all this month. I have two procedures (colonoscopy and endoscopy), a barium swallow test, another GI appointment, a neurology appointment, and an MRI. My copay for the MRI alone is $150. Both the endo and colonoscopy are also $150 each. All I want for my birthday is to be able to pay for it all. If possible, please share this. Thank you.
Also linking proof of my testing scheduled!

Tried a new restaurant yesterday and got burned. 🫠 But at least I can show y'all what I do for flareups. Part of why I like having tinctures on hand is because it makes it easier to grab something when I feel bad.
I hope this helps y'all next time you have tummy troubles!

so ive been having a flare up for 3 whole weeks now, symptoms include:
intense upper abdominal pain after eating
vomiting most solids*
intense back pain at the same height as the stomach pain but at different times
headaches
fevers
dizziness
fatigue
weight loss
*this has lessened since i went to the hospital a week ago and they gave me a new round of pantaparazole (which ive been on before because i have a gerd diagnosis)
ive had flare ups before with similar symptoms but this level of vomiting is new and its never gone on this long. the hospital confirmed its nothing viral and nothing super visible like a stomach bleed or something with my kidneys. does this seem familiar to anyone?
i should note that my doctor is adament its not crohns or colitis because of the stool tests shes done. ive had a colonoscopy, a gastroscopy, and a ct and the only thing they found was enlarged lymph nodes in my large intestine and acid reflux burns in my esophagus.
#im sick of my doctor saying its anxiety so im outsourcing#chronic illness#gastrointestinal#ibs#ibd#crohn's disease#ulcerative colitis#chronically ill#chronic pain#disability

So the pelvic floor therapy is going really well. My period usually triggers really bad constipation that can incapacitate me but I've been experiencing very little constipation and it's only a small amount that's easy to ignore. I really wish I got this (and a goddamn endoscopy) sooner instead of having to pay what will probably total almost a thousand dollars of PT. I really appreciate both the nurse practitioners, the nurses, and my physical therapist for being so kind and understanding and respectful of my boundaries and also my PCP for going through the effort of finding a specialist that wanted what I wanted: answers not just pills shoved in my face. It's really helped me heal not only the celiac damage but also the trauma that I experienced from ten other doctors who couldn't do what my current team did.
PT has also seen a few issues that could be addressed by my PCP for what's potentially causing pain in other areas which is above and beyond what other HCPs have done for me in the past. Hopefully this is all a step closer to me being able to wear regular underwear.
Please send me recommendations for comfy undies as motivation to keep doing my exercises because these exercises are KILLING ME (in a good way).

spoonies with GERD or other gastro issues can someone help me out?
this may just be a result of living with binge eating disorder but sometimes at night even after i've eaten i get this extreme hunger feeling that causes a tightness in my throat and heavy nausea with an almost painfully hungry feeling in my esophagus and pains in my chest
i also struggle w chronic acid reflux and have been living off tums as of late, so i figured it might be a gastro issue, but i also have slightly low blood sugar on many of my lab results, so maybe it's some sort of issue related to that? google isn't helping me at all, i just come here to ask because i want to be pointed in the right direction so i know what to talk to my doctor about it
