The master shouldn’t be brought back for a couple seasons and not every big bad should end up being him
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
You know not all is right when you sigh in relief at the showrunner saying your fave has been appearing too much lately. Because maybe, just maybe it means he recognises there's more to them than the main soprano in the "Psychological Colonoscopy of the Doctor" cantata? Like, I don't think it's just the matter of quantity but quality as well here. Again, the Master's been forced into a linear story that absolutely doesn't work for them! Either resolve their issues or fucking kill them for good, because this masochistic orgy of "behold exactly what's wrong with them, but no, of course we're not going to just deal with it" works for fanfiction (artistic expression I fully admire, but there a production issues), but not a neverending tv series that people get paid for creating. Of course, this is the same issue that's plopped on the Doctor, too, and I doubt it's possible to go back to adventures with occasional angst format that's a lot of Classic Who fans' holy grail AND THAT'S GOOD! This more introspective poetic works! But there is such a thing as too much good and I think there's something that makes them less suitable for villains than heroes? Like, with a villain, there has to be a solid fatal flaw that doesn't get patted on the back in the end, and there are very few such flaws that can be used over and over. Desire for power or survival work here, because they're both extremes of end-of-the-day common not to say healthy drives, and the beauty of thoschei is how those drives, though usually in a more measured level, aren't absent from the good guy. Complexes, abandonment issues, and all the rest of the diagnoses that get dumped on the Master lately... look, I understand those are things many people live with and never fully resolve, BUT THIS IS A STORY, IT NEEDS A FREAKING CONCLUSION.
Like, I really get the impression when Moffat came up with the redemption arc for Missy, and then arrived at the "ideal" way for how the Master's story should end, he. maybe wasn't naive enough to think future showrunners won't bring them back, but he really expected it to be at least a couple of seasons? Because there, I ended a linear story. Take a moment to go back to it. But then Chibs needed an exposition device for his Doctor apotheosis and that required the Master to be as historically rooted as possible.
Also, don't get me started on the "the Master always just comes back without an explanation uwu" thing, yes they do come back in the same regeneration, but when there's a new body THERE'S USUALLY BEEN A WHOLE EPISODE DEVOTED TO HOW THIS HAPPENED (all hail the Tooth plot).
As for the revelations... I'm a bit more on the fence with this one, because a) dress ups are the Master's thing and b) I think they're the perfect SEASONAL big bad, they just don't work as an overarching villain. Not in the least because they work best with the Doctor when they do have to unite against a common enemy. Point: people sometimes do good things for selfish reasons. Inventing the specific scenario where the only choice is between participating or not in an expanded altruistic suicide (that won't really do much difference from individual altruistic suicide) isn't the dramatic hit you think it is.
Bottom line: LET. THE MASTER. BREATHE.
#sorry of this turned into a general rant 😅#thanks for the ask it was fun#the master#the master meta#dw meta#tw: negativity#thoschei#doctor x master#tw: sui mention

this is an angry post but
it is unforgivable that I was allowed to suffer years of misdiagnosis. Over a decade of misdiagnosis. GI disorders are so prevalent and under-diagnosed.
I am permanently damaged from years of having to seek emergency care for my vomiting and stomach pain episodes. I've had so many IVs in my lifetime, so many blood draws, several vein blowouts and infiltration episodes that I now have to get another possibly permanent medical device in less than a year.
And I am terrified of getting a port! Like legitimately petrified of complications. Sepsis is a very real consideration and I just. Monday is quickly approaching and I am so overwhelmed
I should not have gone years without a GES. I shouldn't have gotten several diagnoses that are supposed to be diagnosis of elimination. Endoscopy and colonoscopy doesn't always find everything.

TW: Medical Devices
Just got out of my endoscopy/colonoscopy and it went super well! The new team and nurses are really nice. So far nothing wrong with my esophagus and stomach nor colon! So as far as we know my Crohn’s is not active right now unless it’s in the upper intestines.
Still have to do MRI, abdominal ultrasound, bone density scan and blood work - but both me and Johnny feel tons better after moving (almost immediately), so it really could have been a toxicity issue aggravating my ability to function, at least partially.
Also we took a fun picture of my hands bc I obviously have Raynaud’s or some circulation issue 😅

I saw your post about whump tropes/ characters waking up and I wanted to ask do you ever get people laughing when they wake up? Iv seen it happen with shock to others (and myself, whoops) and I was wondering if people cry do they laugh?
absolutely!
in the initial stages of emergence, we tend to more commonly see a discomfort response because of the surgery and because patient’s emerge with their airway device still in situ as we cannot extubate until we know they’re breathing on their own and responsive.
with ETTs, these are removed in theatre (unless they’re going to ICU) and the airway is suctioned then we sometimes see patients laughing and sticking their tongue up against the yankaeur, biting it, etc. (they are sent to recovery with LMAs in situ)
once the device and been removed and their LOC increases slightly, we observe other responses. we also assess for delirium.
laughter can also be a response to discomfort, it can also be a response to some of the drugs we’re giving. i’ve seen quite a few people giggling immediately after or hysterically laughing out in recovery.
i’m sure you’ve seen videos of people acting strangely after anaesthesia, it happens a lot, and like how people crying hysterically for no reason, people laugh too. (they also say some really random shit)
other responses as well can be specific to the procedure, i see people fart very often after a colonoscopy.
a good rule of thumb as well is if someone is anxious prior to induction, they emerge anxious.

When i learned i would have to get an EMG (electromyography) my dad and aunt both told me i would hate it cause they stick needles in your muscle to see how to responds. I react poorly to IVs and blood draws, but i have two tattoos and get every vaccine i am allowed to. I wasn’t really sure what to expect because my dad said it was a weird test and he hated it. And i thought, well i’ve had plenty of weird medical tests, i mean barium x-rays and colonoscopies both force you to drink copious amounts of terrible liquid — but nothing. Nothing is as weird as an echocardiogram where they are looking to see if you have a hole in your heart. You learn at some point in your life that air in the blood is bad for you and can kill you, and then one day you’re lying on a hospital bed with a doctor sitting on the bed next to you so she can manipulate the device they hooked your iv up to as she explains how they will be putting air in your blood to look for a hole in your heart. it’ll be safe, she says. It is safe. But you will feel that air the whole trip from the iv entry to your heart.
anyway. So i go to the hospital at eight in the morning and the nurse sticks goopy stickers on my foot and ankle and puts a device on my leg that shoots an electric current through my nerve to see how it responds. It responds! Rejoice. Then the doctor comes in and he tells me he will be putting a needle in three of my leg muscles and i explain about the needle issue and he tells me it is like an acupuncture needle — and i’ve had those once weirdly coincidentally hooked up to a minor electric pulse in physiotherapy years ago. So he sticks my leg and makes me flex my muscle and i learn you can hear your muscles working. Tap tap tap taptaptaptap. My muscles are fine, my nerves are fine. The forgetting my legs problem is not a problem with my legs.
The doctor did tell me when he asked if i had any other medical issues aside from stroke, that having chronic migraines increases your stroke risk. I was diagnosed with chronic migraines about eight years ago—no one has ever informed me of this. But he also has chronic migraines and also let me know i probably shouldn’t do hormones cause, again, increases stroke risk.
a lot of information for pre-nine am.
#Medical story#Medical talk#stroke posting#cw medical stuff#cw blood talk#I do not know how to tag for talking about air in the blood#But! Anyway after that test idk is anything really weird??#I have to call my neuro and interrogate him now

Bidet attachments: to squirt or not to squirt?
Below cut for TMI
As promised, here's my thoughts on what it was like to get a bidet attachment!
There are a lot of them on the market, some much more pricey than others. Here's the one I chose, and I've been very happy with it.
What's a bidet, anyway?
A bidet is usually a separate device from the toilet. It squirts water up into your nether parts to clean them after you go to the bathroom.
A bidet attachment is a little device that gets installed in your toilet.
Ugh, isn't the water dirty?
Nope! It hooks into the pipe that goes into the toilet and takes the water from there, not from the toilet bowl. The water is as clean as the tap water in your sink.
Don't you end up overflowing the water in the toilet?
No, you only need to squirt for a second or two, which doesn't add very much water to what's in the bowl.
How does it know where to squirt?
You got me! My spouse installed it. It seems to have pre-positioned angles that just work. I have to lean forward a little to get it in the right place, which is no big deal. There's also a nozzle for my front parts, but I've never used that. Supposedly that's really helpful for pre-menopausal uterus-havers.
Isn't it cold?
I got one that doesn't hook into the sink's warm water, because my toilet is in a separate little room from my sink and it wouldn't have worked. Those warm-water kinds are available if you want to be fancy. But I've found that the cold tap water isn't shocking or upsetting! It's quite doable.
Doesn't it get on your front parts?
Sometimes there's a little collateral spray, but it's clean water so I just blot it off. It doesn't spray bad stuff from the back onto the front. This was something I was really worried about and no one talked about it!
Is it hard to install?
Well, my spouse did it? And he's not too handy. I think if you're able to turn the water off at your toilet, it's not a very big deal. We didn't need to get a plumber to do it.
Am I glad I did it?
You betcha! Boy colonoscopy prep is going to be so much easier next time. (I did half-prep this weekend, and while I did end up in horrible anal pain by the end, it still wasn't as bad as when you're wiping over and over and over and making yourself raw.) Now I'm trying out Linzess, which is lots of diarrhea, and I am again very glad I can just squirt out the bad and then have one nice clean wipe just to dry off. If all your poos are super-clean one-wipe poos, then you probably don't need this. But if you deal with a mess in the bathroom, this could make your life easier.
Got any more questions? I'm happy to try to answer!

Gastroenterology Specialty in jaipur
Physicians who specialize in gastroenterology focus on the digestive systems of the human being. This is not just the stomach as some people may think. It is also the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, small intestine, esophagus and the colon. These doctors work to prevent and diagnose diseases as well as to offer treatments.
Testing often utilizes endoscopic equipment which is less invasive than other methods. Tubes and tiny cameras are inserted into nose, mouth and rectal areas in order to find out what is going on within the digestive tracts. Endoscopic procedures include the relatively common colonoscopy, and the less well known enteroscopy, ultrasonography and photodynamic techniques. Best Gastroenterologist in Jaipur
The colonoscopy is one of the more well-known procedures and has been recommended for patients over the age of 50 as routine screening devices. This procedure is no fun for the patient, that's for sure. But it does beat the alternative of undiagnosed disease. The preparation for this screening experience begins the day before. The patient will need to be on a "liquids only" diet with no solid foods eaten. Then the patient will have to drink a gallon of prep drink which is often flavoured with an artificial lemonade powder. Every twenty minutes or so, the patient will need to swig a glass of this concoction. It doesn't taste great but a person can drink just about anything for one day. It helps to chill the jug of juice and drink each glass rapidly. A person must be prepared to remain in the bathroom for a good portion of the rest of this day while the gallon of lemony liquid does its magic work of cleaning out the intestinal tract.
On the morning after this portion of the prep has been completed, it's time to head to the hospital. The patient must have a driver with her or him to drive them home after the colonoscopy has been completed. After arrival, the patient will be called back to a dressing room in order to disrobe and be readied for the operating table. Clad in a hospital gown, the person will be given a sedative intravenously and will then be fully ready for the procedure.
The individual will not be put under general anaesthesia but rather will remain in a twilight state. A camera and tubing will be inserted through the intestinal tract so that the doctor can inspect the region. The gastroenterologist will make certain that no suspicious lumps or bumps are present. Biopsies may be taken in order to be checked out further by the laboratory technicians. If everything is A-Okay, the patient will be given the thumbs up and released that same day. If suspicious findings are evident, further testing and treatments will be required. Gastroenterologist in Jaipur
Many gastroenterology screenings can save lives. Cancer of the pancreas, esophagus, liver and other digestive regions are often aggressive carcinomas and require rapid treatment after they've been identified. Other non-life threatening maladies treated by these specialists include Crohn's disease, colitis, IBS, malabsorption issues, swallowing difficulties and more. The intricate systems necessary for eating and nourishing one's body are complicated. If a person experiences problems in these regions, a competent gastroenterologist should be able to sort them out.

4K USB Cameras for Medical Devices: Setting New Standards in High-Definition Patient Imaging
When it comes to healthcare, precision is everything. From diagnosing conditions to monitoring patient progress, the clarity and accuracy of medical images can directly impact treatment outcomes. But what if we could elevate this standard even further? Imagine medical devices that not only offer sharp, high-definition images but are also seamlessly integrated into existing systems for ease of use and efficiency. Enter the 4K USB camera—a game-changing technology for medical imaging that’s setting new standards in patient care.
Why 4K USB Cameras Are the Future of Medical Imaging
Medical professionals are often under pressure to make quick, accurate decisions. Whether performing surgery, conducting diagnostics, or simply evaluating a patient's condition, the need for precise, high-quality imaging is critical. Traditional camera systems in medical devices can sometimes fall short, especially in complex or delicate situations where fine details matter the most.
This is where 4K USB cameras shine. Offering four times the resolution of Full HD cameras, 4K USB cameras deliver stunning image clarity, which is crucial for applications such as dermatology, ophthalmology, and even endoscopic procedures. The enhanced resolution allows doctors to see finer details, making it easier to identify potential issues that might be missed with lower-resolution systems.
Addressing Pain Points in Medical Imaging
In medical imaging, there are several key challenges that healthcare providers regularly face, including:
Poor Image Quality: Many medical devices still rely on outdated camera technology that struggles to provide the level of detail needed for critical diagnostics. A blurry or pixelated image can obscure important information, leading to misdiagnoses or delayed treatments.
Complex Integration: Integrating new imaging technology into existing systems can be a daunting task. Many medical devices are difficult to upgrade, and a lack of standardization between different devices can complicate workflow and reduce overall efficiency.
Cost and Maintenance: High-end imaging systems, while powerful, often come with a hefty price tag. Additionally, maintaining these systems can require frequent service and calibration, which can lead to unnecessary downtime.
Portability and Convenience: Medical practitioners often work in environments where they need to move quickly or perform assessments at the point of care. Traditional systems may be bulky or difficult to transport, limiting their versatility.
4K USB cameras tackle these pain points in ways that older technology simply cannot. By offering ultra-high-definition image quality in a compact, easy-to-integrate format, these cameras provide significant advantages in terms of both performance and usability.
Superior Image Quality
One of the biggest selling points of 4K USB cameras in medical devices is their ability to provide crystal-clear images. This level of clarity is invaluable in specialties such as:
Dermatology: When examining skin lesions or other visual symptoms, dermatologists rely on high-definition imagery to accurately assess and diagnose conditions. A 4K USB camera ensures that no detail is lost, helping practitioners make more informed decisions.
Ophthalmology: Eye care professionals need precise imaging to evaluate the health of the retina, cornea, and other critical structures. With a 4K USB camera, they can capture ultra-clear images of the eye, improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
Endoscopy: During procedures like colonoscopies or laparoscopy, surgeons need to see small, subtle changes within the body. A 4K camera attached to an endoscope provides unrivaled detail, enabling more precise maneuvers and reducing the risk of complications.
The enhanced resolution of 4K USB cameras provides a higher level of confidence for medical practitioners. The improved image quality helps them detect minute anomalies, ensuring that no detail goes unnoticed.
Seamless Integration for Greater Efficiency
Another common challenge in healthcare is the complexity of integrating new devices into existing workflows. The introduction of a new imaging technology can disrupt a hospital's or clinic's operations if it requires major overhauls of current systems.
However, 4K USB cameras are different. Thanks to their plug-and-play USB connectivity, they can be easily integrated into a wide variety of medical devices, from microscopes to surgical instruments. This simplicity means healthcare providers can quickly adapt to the technology without needing extensive training or system upgrades.
Additionally, many of these cameras are compatible with popular medical software platforms, further streamlining the process. The convenience and ease of integration allow medical professionals to focus on what matters most—delivering quality care to their patients.
Cost-Effective Innovation
While high-resolution imaging technology traditionally came with a steep price, 4K USB cameras offer an affordable alternative without sacrificing performance. These cameras provide the same superior image quality as more expensive options, but at a fraction of the cost. This is particularly beneficial for healthcare facilities that may be working with limited budgets but still want to provide the best possible care to their patients.
Moreover, the low maintenance and long-lasting nature of 4K USB cameras help reduce long-term operational costs. Traditional medical cameras may require frequent service or recalibration, whereas USB cameras tend to be more robust, requiring fewer repairs and offering greater reliability over time.
For healthcare providers looking to upgrade their imaging systems without breaking the bank, 4K USB cameras offer a practical and cost-effective solution.
Enhancing Portability and Flexibility
Medical professionals often work in dynamic environments, requiring imaging technology that is flexible and easy to transport. 4K USB cameras are compact and lightweight, making them perfect for point-of-care applications. Whether a doctor needs to examine a patient in the clinic, perform a mobile assessment in the field, or document a procedure in real time, these cameras are up to the task.
In comparison to traditional imaging systems that may be bulky and require complex setup, 4K USB cameras can be plugged into a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer for immediate use. This portability makes them ideal for a wide range of healthcare settings, from emergency rooms to telemedicine consultations.
Real-Time Sharing and Collaboration
The integration of USB connectivity in 4K cameras also enables real-time sharing of high-definition images. This feature is particularly valuable in telemedicine, where remote consultations are increasingly common. A doctor in one location can share high-quality images with a specialist or team, ensuring that collaborative decision-making can happen efficiently.
Moreover, the ability to stream live images opens the door for medical training, allowing medical students and professionals to observe procedures in high-definition, regardless of their location. This fosters a learning environment that is both interactive and immersive.
Moving Forward with 4K USB Camera Technology
The advancements in 4K USB camera technology are revolutionizing the medical imaging field. Offering superior image quality, seamless integration, cost-effectiveness, and unparalleled portability, these cameras are poised to set new standards for patient care. By addressing the key pain points faced by healthcare professionals—such as poor image quality, high costs, and complex integration—4K USB cameras ensure that medical practitioners have the tools they need to provide the best possible care for their patients.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Medical Imaging
As healthcare continues to embrace technology, the role of high-definition imaging will only grow. With innovations like the 4K USB camera, the potential for more accurate diagnoses, better patient outcomes, and streamlined workflows is limitless. The healthcare industry is on the verge of an imaging revolution, and 4K USB cameras are leading the way.
