i adore your durge so much please share facts about him if you are so inclined
Tumblr media
omg thank you for taking interest in him... 🥺
He's a really quiet guy who takes the cult business seriously. He's got insane father issues with Bhaal and does everything he can to be his perfect son. Hence the extreme religious crisis when he met and got obsessed with Gortash to the point where he would punish himself through self-flagellation and offering more bodies to him. Self punishment has always been something he did when he thinks he disobeyed Bhaal, but it was never that bad until Gortash... hjkgfkdfg anyway..
He enjoys the killing and whatnot.. typical durge stuff. Huge ego, pretty pompous. but there were times when he'd wish more in life and question his purpose especially during the start of his fall from grace. questioning what he wants aside from killing. be with who he wants. I cant ever talk about him without bringing up Gortash hjfkff but Gortash really did ruin him because for the first time, he wants something more than the purpose his murderous father has given him. His one true equal in this world. The only person whom he has told his real name that was given to him by his adoptive family before the urges came. Yet the only way he knew how to express his love is to tell him "i will kill you on my father's altar and then myself" lmao.. just two very emotionally constipated evil people honestly.
Post-tadpole, he tries redeeming himself and ultimately fails because I think it's such good tragedy. He develops a thing with Gale but can never really commit to anything because the moment he woke up on that pod, there is a hole in his heart in the shape of a tyrant he can barely remember. So it's more of a complicated interest in gale. I am torn between: Gale makes him sane and he's truly the only person that he never wants to hurt. or someone he wants to corrupt. mostly leaning on the latter. but less corruption and more of trying to maximize his potential, is what Vanh believes he's doing anyway. he's still very much a silly fucked up evil guy with or without bhaal...
I could go on and on... he's so special to me jgdfkgkkg...
when he's not being an undiagnosed edgelord (lol) he likes the sky, he likes the ocean. he likes watching the tyrant tinker with his metals and inventions. He likes watching the wizard cook. he's very observant in an almost creepy way. He likes being alone too where nothing can disturb him.
as a cult leader, hes just a very annoying guy when he talks, honestly. he could go and on and on about his father and his unholy mission and i like to think he would be banned from fortnite lobbies 💀💀

I’ll Always Be Around-Buck/Bucky
Summary: Gale is in his head and John pulls him out.
WC: 1,326
C/W: Referenced/Implied homophobia and mentions of divorce.
MOTA Masterlist!
Tumblr media
Gale sat in his car in the driveway in silence. He didn’t know where he wanted to go besides to Johns but he hadn’t answered yet. He just didn’t want to be at home considering his parents were raging at him for getting snippy with his Grandma at dinner. She always made sure to voice her strong opinion of how she disliked John so much and said that it’s just not right that two men are together.
Gale:
You’re at your dads, right?
John:
Yeah, Croz is here though. But I think he’s leaving when Bubbles is done with work.
Gale:
Can I come over?
John:
Yeah we just gotta be quiet bc the affair baby is sleeping 🙄💀
Gale put his car in reverse as he backed out of the long driveway. Now that John's parents were divorced and their house wasn’t a war zone all the time he had started letting people come over again; Although, he basically lived with the Clevens most of the time.
Gale knew how uncomfortable John's dad’s new wife made him. Some young secretary from his office that was closer in age to them than him. He also knew how much John disliked the fact that he now had a half brother. John had pretty much became a ghost in his own house when he was home. He could come and go and his dad wouldn’t even notice. But the times he stayed at his moms it wasn’t much better. Instead of being ignored she berated him all the time.
John jumped up from the couch as he heard the knocks on the door. He and Croz had been playing Fortnite and Stardew Valley all afternoon on John's new Switch.
“Hey handsome,” John leaned against the door frame. He could see in Gale's eyes that this was not the time and he turned his silly down.
“Did you have a good day?” Gale asked, kissing John on the cheek, following John into the house.
“Yeah, it was alright, me and Croz just played with the new Switch.” John hummed.
“Oh hey, Buck.” Croz waved then turned back to the TV where he was now focusing on Stardew Valley.
“Hey Croz,” Gale toed off his converse and kinda just slumped into John's arms. John wrapped his arms around Gales' waist holding the other.
“Is everything okay?” John whispered in his ear. John was worried about him; this was not typical Gale behavior. Something in his pretty blue eyes wasn’t glimmering either.
“We can talk later about it,” Gale nuzzled his head into John's neck taking in the familiar scent of his fruity aftershave. He placed a small kiss on his neck before pulling away and finding a seat on the couch by Croz.
“You wanna hear something funny?” Croz glanced over at Gale then back to the TV.
“Of course I do.”
“No are you gonna tell him about-”
“Yes, Leo threw up all over Bucky earlier. No joke. His dad left us with the baby for like an hour so he could go to the store or something. But he just started crying and crying.”
“Who? Bucky?” Gale let a small smirk pull on his face looking over to John. he stood with his arms crossed by the couch shooting daggers at Gale.
“Yeah, Bucky was crying, but anyway Leo is crying and Bucky holds him like this.” Croz grabbed a pillow and started patting it, “So he’s trying to burp him or something.”
“In my defense I’m doing what Mrs. Brewer taught us in child development.” John held up his hands in defense referring to the week long baby project.
“Bucky shut up I’m trying to get to the best part.” Croz waved his hand at the taller, “So he pulls Leo away and is just holding him out and Leo projectile vomited all over Bucky's shirt.”
John shook his head sitting down between them and smacked Gale on the leg lightly as Gale began laughing, throwing his head back, “Oh it's funny now Gale but it was your shirt.”
“My shirt?” Gale raised his eyebrows pointing at himself now praying that John at least tried to wash it and didn’t just throw it away, “Which shirt?”
“I don’t know the one from when you played Tennis at the country club?” John shrugged, knocking his elbow into Bucks. Gale felt a wave of relief washing over him that it wasn’t one of his nicer shirts he still wore besides when John would hijack it, “I’m never babysitting the affair baby again. I didn’t even want to watch him. My dad just kinda handed him off to me and left.”
“I can’t believe neither of us died, it was a long…hour to say the least.” Croz giggled, although all of this was at John's expense it did lift a bit of the anxious weight off of Gale's chest.
Bubbles had picked up Croz and the other two found their way to John's room. It certainly was in a cleaner state than it was the last time Gale had been in here. There was some clothes on the floor but not much else besides his cluttered desks of trinkets, mostly of little unicorns.
“So I’m sensing dinner didn’t go well?” John laid back on his bed.
“No,” Gale shook his head, picking up a pink ceramic unicorn Gale remembered buying him at a thrift store. It had always been his favorite unicorn of John's seemingly endless collection, “Can I borrow some clothes, I don’t know if I’m gonna go home tonight…if that's okay with you?”
“Yeah, for sure. Probably have more of your clothes laying around here somewhere.” John snickered sitting on his knees by his closet and digging through his dresser drawers. Gale just wanted to get out of the clothes he had been wearing all night and to just lay with John. He wanted to feel his hands on him and he wanted to breathe in his smell and just be so close to him.
“Thanks,” Gale hummed, taking the sweatpants and shirt John passed him, “Grey sweatpants so you can stare at my dick?”
“Maybe?” John shrugged, pulling Gales' brown sweater off of him.
“But no dinner was a disaster,” Gale sighed, pulling off his shirt and undoing his belt.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” John directed his gaze down to the floor, John had never been good in situations like this. He never knew what to say and rather opted for something funny.
“No it’s okay I’m kinda just ranting, I can stop though?”
“No it’s fine you know I’m just bad with words.”
Gale finished changing and fought a battle with himself before deciding to just take his contacts out and throw them away. He should’ve known he’d probably end up staying at Johns tonight but he didn’t even grab anything he just left.
“Can I lay on top of you?” Gale rocked back and forth on his heels, the only light in the room coming from John's lamp. Illuminating the right side of Johns beautiful
“Yeah, come on in here.” John motioned for him and lifted up the blankets for him. Gale climbed in resting his head on John's chest listening to his heartbeat for a moment. John wrapped his arms around Gale's waist and let a small toothy smile come out, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Gale shut his eyes for a moment letting his focus be on John's heartbeat. He didn’t want to think about his day anymore; he just wanted to be with the love of his life.
“I don’t wanna talk about today.” Gale mumbled feeling one of John's hands come up and into his blonde hair, slowly carding his fingers through it.
“We don’t gotta talk about nothin’ at all, babe.” John held Gale close to him like he was a precious teddy bear.
“Okay,” Gale met John’s gaze, “Thank you for being here for me.”
“Anytime, Buck.”

so a couple days ago i mentioned my hc that serph is mute and communicates mostly using hand signals, in which gale is the only one who understands said hand signals, but given how gale does so much of the heavy lifting on the tactical end canonically (seriously we see serph do nothing outside of maybe the opening) i like thinking he’s the one actually making all the tactical decisions.
serph’s only good at combat, on the fly decision making in battle, and diffusing situations, and gale works those into the actual tactics end. anything that sounds too risky or is straight up stupid is fixed by him, which is why serph is seen as a perfect leader when in reality he really isn’t. due to how the tribes function it’s not like gale can take credit, plus i do think he does value serph as a comrade and thinks he has a lot more potential. maybe this wasn’t the case until serph’s awakening (because yes he did actually have an awakening at the beginning of 1 despite the change in eye color being next to unnoticeable), but he probably did get worse once he got actual emotions and wasn’t in 24/7 fortnite battle royale mode.

Origin Characters as Streamers
Shadowheart
Stardew Valley ✨QUEEN✨ (1000% romances either Haley, Abigail, or Sam)
Plays Minecraft on creative mode, she’s just here to make a cute house, have every animal, and frolic in a cherry blossom forest
Also enjoys cozy games like Spirit Farer, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Cozy Grove, etc.
Her and Karlach sometimes play co-op horror games like Panicore, Phasmophobia, Escape the Backrooms because everything makes her scream and Karlach laughs at her (affectionately)
Gale
Absolutely DESTROYS old men in online chess
Plays Minecraft on hard mode and also BODIES Mario Maker (he has created the most sinister, infuriating, maddening levels)
Was definitely a Sonic kid, he knows the games are terrible but they’re so nostalgic and he loves making fun of them
Always tries to have a nice time playing Mario Party with Wyll, Karlach, & Astarion and they always end up screaming at each other
On the other hand he also does relaxing Pokémon card opening streams and cooking streams with Tara (he’s totally unaware of the tiktok thirst edits of him in his apron)
Karlach
Queen of first person shooters like Fortnite and Apex Legends, her and Wyll are unbeatable in DOOM (2016)
She more so likes cute cozy games that she can sip hot cocoa and snuggle up with a teddy bear while playing
Plays old shitty ps2 games based on media that chat requests like Bratz: Forever Diamondz, Barbie Horse Adventures, and Monsters, Inc.
Loves racing games (she’s terrible at them)
Loves fucking around in GTA 5 (she’s so good at it)
Every now and then does ghost hunting streams with whoever’s available (Shadowheart’s clinging to her the whole time, Gale is giving a thorough breakdown of the history of the location, Astarion is covering up his fear by saying everything’s the wind while also clinging to her, Lae’zel is actually looking for a living person in the building to fight, Wyll is cracking jokes and isn’t scared at all until he sees a door move and him and Astarion are in the car in 0.02 seconds)
Astarion
Loves visual novel romance games like Dream Daddy, Monster Prom, Raptor Boyfriend, etc.
Like Karlach he loves cozy games that let him get in his white girl autumn mode (lights off, candles lit, snuggled under a blanket, pumpkin spice latte and apple cider donuts nearby)
Definitely DOESNT CRY when he plays emotionally charged games especially where a beloved character dies, especially if it’s an animal, no he’s not pausing the stream to cry he just has to go pee-!
His most popular stream was playing A Way Out with Gale (he’d go from threatening Gale’s life for not being in sync to making jokes about the characters being them and also gay)
Does cosplay making streams, sews all of his costumes himself
Lae’zel
Queen of survival games like Subnautica, Rust, DayZ, Raft
Loves hand to hand and melee combat games like Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon’s Dogma; specifically medieval setting games cuz she gets fully immersed and dives deep into character as a knight
She’s bad at racing games; Mario Kart with Wyll, Astarion, & Karlach usually ends with her threatening to dox Astarion
⚔️BLACKSMITHING STREAMS⚔️ most of her viewers for these streams are old men who deeply fear and respect her
Wyll
KING of first person shooters and racing games; Fortnite, Overwatch, PUBG, and Call of Duty ✨champion✨
Slays at Nascar Rumble for the ps2 he’s always got the chicken truck
Is a speed runner for sure and loves doing funky challenges like beating Zelda: BOTW without clothes or breaking the game to take Sidon to Gerudo Town (think PointCrow type challenge videos)
Also likes games with emotional plots like SOMA, Alan Wake, The First Tree, What Remains of Edith Finch, etc. and he will cry on camera
Loves playing two player games with Astarion like Shovel Knight, Snipperclips, Portal 2, and Overcooked
Does late night bedtime story streams, makes his room look super cozy and uses a special ASMR microphone to read stories; takes requests from chat and doesn’t make anyone feel bad for what they want to hear unless it’s smut
All of them at least once a week either get together for a D&D stream or do a multiplayer stream and play:
Lethal Company
Among Us
Content Warning
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Dead by Daylight
Red Dead Online
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Hi there! I’m a big CR fan but I’ve not watched much of their other content besides talks & not sure where to start - all a bit overwhelming! Do you have any recs or advice? I don’t like awnp or liam’s dm’d games & I’ve seen (& liked!) call of cthullu. Are tal’s vampire games gory/gross? Is game ranch fun if you aren’t really into shooters? Thank you!!
I’m gonna do my best here because there is a lot of CR content out there now.
TTRPG Oneshots:
As a general starting place for TTRPG oneshots, I previously made THIS POST of all the one-shots GM-ed by someone other than Matt, with a brief description of the content. I also made THIS POST linking all the one-shots Matt has GM-ed, again with a brief description.
If you liked Call of Cthulhu, you’d probably enjoy the Vampire the Masquerade 2-shot. Taliesin’s a little more gory in his descriptions than in the CoC game, but it’s a similar horror game. The VtM game does have more comedic elements than his CoC game, and is a little meta, so if that was something you didn’t enjoy about Liam’s Quest then it might not be for you.
If what you enjoyed about Call of Cthulhu was exploring a game system other than D&D, some oneshots you might be interested in aside from the VtM one include Marisha’s games of “Honey Heist,” Sam’s game of “Crash Pandas,” or the Deadlands oneshot Matt ran for a charity stream (that one’s fun, but because the game changed in an interactive way based on donations, it gets pretty chaotic and hard to follow, imo - might be better off waiting for the UnDeadwood miniseries that premiers on October 18th if you’re interested in that system.)
Ok, now onto CR content that isn’t TTRPGs:
If you’re not into shooters, Game Ranch is going to be enjoyable on an episode-by-episode basis. If you generally like Let’s Plays, I’d recommend starting with the “Overcooked” episode - it’s hilarious and is very much not a shooting game. They’ve also played “Portal 2,” “Cuphead,” and “Super Mario Bros.”
The whole Between the Sheets catalog is good if you’re interested in long-form interviews with the cast (and others). Some cast members are more open than others, but generally it gives a good insight into their backgrounds and careers.
If you’d like a more casual video game show focused on arcade games instead of consoles, MAME Drop is a relaxing show to have on in the background that features some fun banter between Taliesin and guests. I particularly like the “Laserdisc Classics,” “D&D Games,” and “Gale Force 5″ episodes.
Also very soothing and low-stakes is Pub Draw, in which Babs Tarr teaches Marisha to draw. It also has a few delightful guest episodes where the rest of the cast come in and learn to draw their characters.
One-off, EverythingIsContent streams they put out which I think are fun include:
The time they played “Dungeon Mayhem” (A D&D card game with a separate deck for each player. They get very invested in doing character voices.)
The time they built Critical Role characters in Soul Caliber VI and then battled each other (most of the stream is character-creation - they get very invested).
The time Matt and Taliesin played Fortnite and were just incredibly confused the entire time.
There you go! As this turned into a general rec post by the end rather than a specific response to one person, and I do enjoy All Work No Play, I do want to plug the Fire Spinning episode with Marisha here at the end for people who might be interested in that show.

Moving Forward (Part 2/2)
Pairing: Jaime x MC
Word Count: 2,700
Summary: After the festivities wind down, Arden finally has a chance to tell Jaime how she feels...and to get that kiss she’s been waiting for all night long.
Note: This is so cheesy and ridiculous. I’d probably apologize for it if I had any sense of decency. My only excuse is that writing these two dorks is just enormous fun.
Part 1 can be accessed through my Masterlist.
Tumblr media
The glitzy bathroom was occupied by a pair of middle-aged women who’d reached some dubious point of the drinking scale between tipsy and flat-out drunk. As they adjusted their hair in front of the mirror, Arden slipped unnoticed into one of the many empty stalls.
Resting her burning forehead on the wall, she finally allowed her facade of composure to slip. Arden swallowed a succession of deep breaths, hoping that the increase of oxygen would help to make sense of whatever misfire was happening in her brain. Her temple only throbbed against the cool tile.
Did Jaime know how she felt? She’d only just determined it for herself, but he’d been so serious. There had been no glimmer of amusement in his eyes to remind her that this was all just for fun. Had he been able to sense the change?
To be fair, Arden wasn’t entirely certain what the change was. It hadn’t exactly been a conscious decision, anyway. But over the course of the evening, all of her fears of having a relationship had disappeared. Dating Jaime no longer felt like a threat to her independence.
Besides, she tittered sardonically, he’s already an essential part of your life. If he was going to jump in and start controlling you, he’d have done it already.
Arden gnawed her inner cheek, dragging the soft flesh between her teeth with slow precision. It wasn’t as if being more than friends with Jaime would prove difficult. Come to think of it, the harder task would be removing him from her life at this stage. Such an extraction was incomprehensible, really.
There was a reason her mother had always tried to set them up on dates during high school. Actually starting something with her best friend was going to mean eating a lot of words from previous years. She stifled a groan on realizing that she’d have to admit that June’s suspicions had been correct. That woman would be insufferable for the next month.
But it would be worth it. Jaime was worth it. She’d be damned if her stupid, stubborn pride kept her from a future with him.
Standing upright once more, she crossed her arms and held onto the bare skin as some outward sign of fortitude. She had to tell him. It had taken her this long to catch up -- leaving him wondering for even a day longer just wouldn’t be fair. Besides, she’d never been one for patience.
As if on cue, giggling erupted outside the stall before growing distant. Arden knew that the laughter wasn’t directed toward her, but it still felt like a mockery. How had she been blind to the reality for so long?
Judging that she was now truly alone, Arden finally stepped out from behind the stall door. She brushed an errant fleck of mascara from her lower eyelid after consulting the mirror. Aside from that small misfortune, everything else appeared to be in its proper place. How can I still look so normal? Is this what everyone looks like when they’ve just realized they’re in love with their best friend?
In the quiet moments that she’d contemplated what this revelation could be like, she’d envisioned it happening on a moonlit stroll or in the middle of one of their adventures -- sometime when the two of them were completely alone. She certainly hadn’t imagined being surrounded by loads of partygoing strangers and a handful of coworkers.
The next two hours were going to be torture.
As the party progressed, check-ins with the attendees and entertainers took place with increasing frequency, leaving Arden with very little time to seek her own amusement. The interviews didn’t fully distance her mind from what had happened, but they did make the night pass more quickly.
She made her way to the center of the room just minutes before midnight, apprehension weighing down her every step. Soon the party would come to an end and, for better or for worse, she would finally have the opportunity to talk to Jaime.
Aside from a few outliers, all of the guests had gathered around the dance floor to anticipate the countdown together. Behind her million-watt smile, Arden struggled to keep her own thoughts straight amidst the turmoil of the encroaching crowd. Strange voices passed through, flitting by like the stations of a radio scan.
I really am going to lose the weight this year.
What was Frank thinking having so much to drink tonight? If he throws up in my car, I’m leaving him on the side of the road.
Just one more hour, then I’ll be home playing Fortnite.
And then a voice she recognized: Maybe next year.
From her periphery, Arden watched Jaime slip in through an opening a few yards away. Their eyes locked as she looked over the sea of faces, but she knew better than to linger. Still, his voice was the one that echoed in her mind.
Maybe next year.
Her cheeks flamed and she hoped with every fiber of her being that the viewers at home would interpret her flush as a consequence of the crowd rather than anything more incriminating. She could feel that Jaime’s gaze was still on her, intense for a long moment before he followed her example and raised his own eyes to the net above.
10, 9, 8, 7
She forced her attention to remain fixed on the ceiling. The last thing she needed was to provide gossip fodder to the entire city of Northbridge with a mysterious side-eye to the crowd.
6, 5, 4
Even those who didn’t chant aloud were counting down in their heads, thoughts quickly mingling with Arden’s own so that she was aware of nothing aside from the numbers descending in unison.
3, 2, 1
Next year, she promised, taking hold of her thoughts in the milliseconds of anticipatory silence. I’m kissing him next year.
“Happy New Year!” Her own voice rang out with all of the others as the balloons began their creeping descent. In spite of her preoccupation, Arden couldn’t help laughing at the expressive faces around her, with even the most reserved guests getting caught up in the delighted swell. It was the most colorful variety of chaos she had ever seen.
When the madness had died down sufficiently, she flashed a smile toward the camera and caught a balloon in her free hand. “Happy New Year, Northbridge.”
“The crew and I can take it from here,” Tony offered shortly after midnight. “You’ve got another early morning tomorrow, don’t you?”
“Sure do.” Not for the first time, she mentally cursed Alec for assigning her the interview with the fitness guru that was slated for 8:00 a.m. “I really appreciate it, Tony. See you Monday!”
“Goodnight, Gale!” He gave her a short wave before turning back to the equipment.
Should all the Quakers be forgot
And never brought to mime?
Arden couldn’t help giggling as Tony’s voice warbled on. At least I sing on key, even when the words are wrong, she reasoned, remembering Jaime’s earlier accusation.
That man was navigating between tables, discreetly swiping the toe of his loafer over scuffs on the shiny floor. Arden shook her head when she realized what he was doing, but her chest clenched with a tightness that she was just growing accustomed to. No matter if he were just a friend or something more, one thing was certain: she was incredibly lucky to know him.
“Does the do-gooder inside you ever get a break?”
His face tilted toward her at the question, mouth slanted in a crooked smile. “Not if I can help it.”
“You’re too pure for this world, Jaime.” And probably much too good for me.
He straightened and took a step toward her, casting a quick glance over the area he’d just cleaned. “Nah, I’m just doing my part. You ready to get out of here?”
The suggestion sent nerves rushing through her in an almost debilitating jolt of anticipation. Why am I nervous? It’s Jaime. Not trusting herself to speak, she could only nod in response.
“C’mon, I’ll walk you to your car.”
Their journey through the parking lot was quiet, although Arden’s mouth opened several times in unsuccessful attempts to broach the subject that had been foremost in her mind for the past two hours. But her tongue was heavy in her mouth and it grew easier and easier to let the opportune moments pass. Upon reaching her car, panic set in. She had to tell him. Now.
“Jaime?” she began with a hand on his forearm. He turned to face her, impossibly handsome under the stars and the sliver of moonlight. The attentiveness in his warm eyes gave her incentive to keep going. “About tonight, I’m really glad you were here. But I have to admit that I’m disappointed about one thing.”
“Oh?”
A pang of guilt chilled her skin at the hurt in his expressive face. “I mean, I had a wonderful time with you, but I was really hoping we would get the chance to do this...” Eager as she was to tell him everything, she was losing patience for words. Without a second thought, Arden rose to the balls of her feet and leaned toward him.
Am I dreaming?
Her kiss was all the answer he needed.
Arden’s lips met his, tentative at first from the newness of it all. A heartbeat later, Jaime kissed her back. Losing herself in his touch, a low moan rose in the back of her throat as he threaded long fingers through her disheveled hair. Even through the layers of coat and jacket, the heat rising between them was palpable.
His tongue pushed insistently against her lips, and she opened them without hesitation. Pressed between the unyielding side of the car and the supple muscles of his chest, all conscious thought abandoned her. By instinct, her arms crossed behind his neck to pull her body taut against him.
When she finally leaned back to catch a breath her pulse thundered in her ears. Wow. She was no stranger to being kissed, but suddenly those experiences all paled in comparison. I can’t believe he’s been holding out on me for all these years.
“Arden --”
She cut him short with a determined squeeze of the hand. “Please don’t say anything -- don’t even think anything.” His forehead raised incredulously at the unusual request.
Arden, I couldn’t think right now if I tried.
She huffed with exasperation. The La, la, la, la, la! technique was good in theory, but fell very short in application. “Before you respond, I just need you to know that I’ve been thinking about kissing you all night -- longer than that, actually.” Her cheeks burned yet again. “And as good as the kissing was, I want more than that. I don’t want another year to start with me ignoring what’s right in front of my face.”
“Arden, I --”
She pressed on in spite of his interruption. “I need you to know that this has nothing to do with me reading minds. This is just me: plain old Arden.” Having finally run out of breath, she paused. “I’m falling in love with you, Jaime. I have been for a long time.”
Okay, I’m definitely dreaming.
Hand still resting on his arm, she pinched his bicep gently. “I’m completely serious. I don’t want to still be playing these games next New Year’s when we could be--” her words halted as his thumb stroked her cheek. Though her lips parted, she remained silent.
“Arden, please let me say something.” She melted into his hand, the affection in his touch driving away all impulse to speak.
“The thing is, I want all of those things too. I think you already know that -- with or without reading my mind. And you probably also know that I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” A lump rose to her throat as he traced the line of her face with the pad of his fingertip. “I’d keep waiting if I needed to, but dating you is the best thing I can imagine.” Well, short of marrying you.
Her eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Sorry! That thought just ran away with me,” he rubbed his hairline instinctively, his own cheeks visibly reddening.
As much as Arden valued the ability to communicate through words, experience had taught her that some things could be articulated much more effectively with actions. This truth in mind, she tightened her grip on his torso and went in for another kiss.
I could get used to....mmmph....
Though the tone of voice suggested that he was more relaxed, Arden wasn’t taking any chances. She dipped one hand beneath his suit jacket and sucked his bottom lip as her fingers stroked the warm skin at his spine. By the time they separated, her mouth was swollen. “I’m not waiting,” she stated breathlessly. “But I don’t want you to think I’m saying that just because I know it’s what you’ve wanted.”
“I know you better than that,” he promised, his voice scarcely louder than a whisper. “You’re too stubborn to do anything of the kind. It’s probably taken all night for you to work yourself up to admitting how you feel. If you say you’re ready, I believe you.”
“I’m going to be mocked into the next millennium.”
Jaime laughed heartily. “If anyone mocks you, just call me over to give them a talking to.” He pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her with a sigh of utter contentment. This feels so right.
His reaction formed a perfect complement to her own.
Eventually, even the bliss of shared warmth wasn’t enough to keep out the chill December night. Much as Arden worked to disguise her shivering, it didn’t take long for Jaime to catch on.
“I hate to say it, but we should probably go our separate ways. It’s already morning and we can’t have you falling asleep while you’re on air tomorrow.”
“It’s only a short shift,” she attempted, but she could read his resolve plainly. “Sometimes you’re just too responsible.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing. Can you imagine all of the trouble you’d get yourself in if I weren’t?” He shook his head in mock amusement. “Let me know when you’re home safely?”
“Of course.” Grabbing him by the lapels, she pulled him through the open car door for one final, very thorough kiss.
True to her word, she sent the message almost as soon as she was through the door of her apartment: I’m home! Jinx shredded the entire roll of toilet paper again.
His response was almost immediate. Tell her to stop being such a drama queen. I’m glad you’re home safe.
Her thumbs lingered on the glass as she considered where to begin filling him in on everything that had occupied her mind during the drive back to her apartment.
Should she tell him about bursting into ecstatic laughter at a stoplight? That she had spent most of the drive reliving kisses when she should have been paying attention to the road? How could she begin to explain how freeing it was to open herself up to this kind of intimacy after years of insisting she was better off on her own? No matter what she wrote, words would never capture it correctly.
After much typing and deleting, she finally opted for simplicity: I still haven’t stopped smiling.
Neither have I. And I still feel your kisses on my lips, he replied.
You’d better meet up with me tomorrow so we can do it again.
Just tell me when and where.
The giddiness that spread through her was unreal. For a single moment, Arden questioned whether she should feel disappointed for the years that they had wasted, but she had no such inclination. Instead, she was quite focused on the present and their future. I’m talking lots of kisses. Maybe some light cuddling...
I can’t wait. For now, get some sleep, Arden. You’ve got a big year ahead.

Let’s Talk #SwordArtOnline Alternative #GunGaleOnline: Squad Jam
This brand new spinoff of Sword Art Online already has one major positive: Kirito is not in this show.
Tumblr media
Aside from that, Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online starts off on the right foot.
Tumblr media
(No Pun Intended.)
For my review of the Series Premiere, feel free to keep reading. There will be spoilers.
UPDATE (4/20): To clarify my opening line, I have previously written that Kirito is my second-favorite character from the original show. There are sadly anime fans who may not give this show a chance just because it is set in the same universe. I jokingly pointed out that he was not in this show for those who may enjoy the franchise but detest Kirito.
Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online is based on the 2014 light novel spinoff of the same name. While it is a spinoff of Sword Art Online, original series author Reki Karahawa had no involvement with the story. This anime adaptation is also not being animated by A-1 Pictures, the studio that has worked on every other adaptation of the franchise. Gun Gale Online is instead animated by 3Hz, a studio that has only worked on a handful of shows such as Celestial Method and Dimension W.
Tumblr media
The only major connections to the overall franchise are the titular setting from Sword Art Online II and artist Eir Aoi. She has previously sung two of the original show’s many opening themes and additionally sings this show’s opening theme titled “Ryusei”.
After the episode quickly recaps Sword Art Online and reintroduces Gun Gale Online, we are introduced to the show’s main protagonists LLENN and M. The former is first shown to be a little girl who notably wears pink and uses a pink gun, while the latter is shown to be a giant who has a very strategic mind. In this episode, the two are taking on several other teams in a Battle Royale match.
Tumblr media
As the first episode of a spinoff to a popular franchise, it was actually great.
Tumblr media
The episode is mostly a slice of life story about playing video games by how it centers around LLENN and M taking on the other teams in the match. It is shown as something normal for the characters in the same way for those who might play similar games such as Call of Duty or Fortnite.
Tumblr media
This episode’s goal was to show how LLENN and M work together and it was successful. M is shown to be a strategist by how he plans out ways to avoid getting attacked by the other teams. LLENN is shown to be somewhat unprepared yet easily able to follow M’s plans to perfection. The residential fight was the best part of the whole episode, especially by how LLENN surprised the soldiers by jumping out of the briefcase.
Tumblr media
As for the ending revealing that LLENN is actually a tall girl named Karen, it seems the show might try to present her real-world conflict being that of her height similar to other anime characters such as Makoto Kino from Sailor Moon.
Tumblr media
The episode’s only flaw was that it could have probably featured a cameo from either Kirito or Sinon to connect the spinoff to its predecessor. While Kirito admittedly could have taken too much attention away from LLENN and M, there were a couple of opportunities that the show could have shown Sinon such as in the introduction or being part of the match.
Tumblr media
As for the opening and closing themes, “Ryusei” is yet another excellent theme by Eir Aoi for the franchise while “To see the future” by LLENN’s voice actor Tomori Kusonoki is really good. Both the opening and closing visuals are reminiscent of the first opening and closing visuals from Sword Art Online II, such as how in the closing LLENN and Karen alternate between one another like Sinon and Shino in the latter.
The first episode of Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online serves to show the spinoff as being more than just a placeholder for the franchise before the original show returns later this year. It is a great start to what could possibly become a great extension of the franchise.
Tumblr media
The show is currently streaming new episodes Saturdays on both Hulu and Crunchyroll.
Until next time, thank you for reading!

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online - Episode 06
I should probably watch some anime today. It’s Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, episode 06! Here we GO!
-It’s February 11th, just a bit after the Squad Jam. And LLENN is in GGO, down in the cash shop where THEY HAVE A NEW P90 IN STOCK FUCK YEAHHHHHHH! P-chan, daughter of P-chan, is born! LLENN loves her submachine guns so much. It’s a wholesome love between a woman and her gun.
-And hey, there’s Eva! What’s the Boss doing in a place like this?
-Opening! You know, sidenote, I’m wondering if GGO has some level of self-identity thing going on. Like, it’s one thing that Karen and Saki each happened to get a form that matched who they wanted to be…But the entire team of tiny girls who wish they were bigger and got more respect, waking up in GGO as tall, buff amazons? On top of Karen, who wants to be cute and adorable and the little spoon, waking up as literally the smallest size the system allows? That feels a little too unlikely to just be the odds.
-The 15th. It’s the post-credits from episode one, as the whole of Saki’s crew is there watching the highlights from Karen’s performance in the Squad Jam, and seeing just how much crazy shit she pulled off before they fought her. You’re a MONSTER, Karen-san! A total BADASS!
-Karen is still trying to properly hook this gaggle of adorable schoolgirls she’s somehow befriended, to the terrifying amazons who pushed her to the brink. Saki is all huffy about how Karen is still kind of scared of Eva. Well what about Sophie, huh? Look at their gunner, she’s huge!
-Yeah but she has a gentler demeanor, as we start getting connections. So, Saki is Eva. Kana, with the bob cut, is Sophie. Mi, the blonde, has the sharpshooter Toma, and has learned to drive stick because she’s been overseas. The one with those cutesy rounded eyebrows, Shiori, is Roza the other heavy-gunner. Their second sniper is Moe, who is deeply embarrassed about how she puts on such cool airs in the game. And then there’s Risa, who is Tanya the scout, the closest to anyone’s real self…But still tall and muscled, just the sleek muscles of a runner.
-So that’s the whole gang! By schoolday, they are but the humble high school rhythmic gymnastics club. But by night, they are a vicious crew…And they’re here to talk strategy. They want to walk through the entire encounter and figure out where they dropped the ball! They’re in your care, Karen-san!
-Episode 06! “SAO Loser”
-Also they devour the snacks she gives them because they are, after all, athletic teenagers. And it turns out they’ve only known each other since last April, when they all joined the club…And they were fucking terrible. It’s actually why they got into VR gaming, to learn to communicate physically and sync up properly…After their coach got fed up and quit on them.
-As for why GGO? IT was the fact that it was so different, so far out of their usual context, that they could start from zero and not the outright negative position they were in with their actual sports. A crisp, clear goal, that they all knew they knew nothing about accomplishing. And of course, it’s just plain a good game, so they got super hooked on it!
-Which is why now they’ve got to push for victory in the next proper Squad Jam! What about rhythmic gymnastics…? That too. BUT ESPECIALLY GGO. Now, will you be in the next one?!
-Karen’s…Not so sure. This was kind of sprung on her. She’s not gonna say no, but she can’t say yes. And she doesn’t even know if M will keep playing, let alone want to team up with her again going forward…
-…Saki is sad now. But eventually, they’re all ready to head out, and Karen’s got to get ready for her big trip back to her parents’ place for spring break. Saki is still sad about not having a LLENN to war against in the inevitable next Squad Jam.
-The 24th. Karen’s back in her hometown, out with Miyu, and kind of wishing neither of those things were the case judging by the look on her face. Miyu keeps taking photos of her new look and she saw the highlight reel of you and that M guy! You kicked ASS! Tell her everything, everything! What made you want to split up from M? That was BANANAS!
-So Miyu learns everything…And yeah this Pito chick sounds like a nutter. Just make sure she never knows your meatspace identity and you’ll be fine. Oh, hey, this karaoke bar has some new Elsa songs! You wanna do one? Miyu’s gonna do one. They are gonna get that next set of concert tickets!
-A few days later, Karen’s on the plane back home, and gets a promo email saying that the second Squad Jam has just been announced for early April.
-Sidenote, these things don’t make any sense. Like, look, it was…fifteen teams to start, right? That means the absolute maximum player count in a single Squad Jam is 90 people, holding the 2-6 size limit. Both of the major battle royale centric games right now, PUBG and especially Fortnite (but especially Bart) can rack up a hundred players in…about 30 seconds, give or take. Even in their own squad modes, from what I’ve seen it doesn’t take more than a few minutes to get into a match, tops.
-Now, okay, that’s on an American game audience, with something that uses heavy amounts of cross-play and can be played on an incredible variety of devices. So I will freely admit it’s not a 1:1 comparison to VR. But unless the Japanese server only has a couple thousand people on it, tops, getting 30-90 people into a match shouldn’t be the kind of thing so huge it only happens once every few months…Because if it is, how the hell is the game able to keep running and pay for what I have to imagine would be much better servers than an ordinary FPS, to deal with the immense amount of data a full-dive VR player would be sending?
-I know I’m overthinking it, and they’re getting the feel of gaming right. It’s just…I don’t know. Kind of weird the way they’re trying to make the Squad Jams, as an entire concept, into these big Events when that’s not how this shit works. Anyways, it’s another personal sponsorship, with some fine tuned rules, and any of the top four teams are pre-seeded if they choose to enter.
-Oh, and then Saki emailed Karen immediately because WOOOOO SECOND SQUAD JAM! Also, her message is full of more emojis and text emoticons than I think I’ve ever seen in one place. Also Saki wants to eat her treats again so please invite them over sometime soon. …Shit, that kid is blunt.
-When Karen gets back to her place, she finds a guy waiting for her who gets WAYYYY too close and it’s M. So that removes one possibility I had. And now she’s twice freaked out because how the fuck did he find her? Can they go somewhere private to talk about that? Because shit’s gotten Real.
-And that’s how they end up in a little cafe area in the apartment building, I think? Hard to say. But, bluntly, M has to admit that he has no proof of any of his claims, but there’s some shit you need to know. Also, he gives a real name, one Asougi Goushi. Goushi is RIGHT UP ON HER and begging for her help because people’s lives are, for real, on the line.
-His, and Pito’s. …Oh fuck me, what is Pito doing. She’s insane, and they both know it. She’s going to participate, and form a team…And in real life, she said she intends to kill herself if she doesn’t take the gold. But not until she confirms his death.
-Karen would like off this ride now please. This is ludicrous and you should go to the police.
-But…Well, here’s the deal. You know the SAO Incident, right? Thousands of people locked in, forced to fight for their lives. Pito…Wasn’t in that group. She was a beta tester, and became obsessed with the game. On launch day, something came up. She had to delay her entrance into it for just a few hours…Enough for the lockdown to happen, and SAO to become a sealed bubble she couldn’t enter.
-She watched it all on the news. She watched everyone else go through the greatest crucible of their lives. And it broke her. That she lost her shot at entering that crucible, turned her inside out. To have a chance to burn her life out in battle…Ever since VR games became popular again, she’s been throwing every spare moment she had into them. But they don’t satisfy her yearning for the void.
-For a little while, though, things were…stable. Until the SAO Incident was solved, and the survivors started talking. Pito had to confront her ‘lost opportunity’, and learned about the player killers, who committed genuine murder inside the world of SAO. Most of the deaths, outside of those first few chaotic days, were in fact from player killers or from self-defense against them.
-Other sidenote, I don’t know if it’s just one of those Manga Things where shit gets enshrined and used and reused because it’s an easily understood story path, but Japanese gaming culture seems to have this really different attitude towards PvP and attacking other players in general.
-And Pito…Pito envied them. Their chance to put their lives on the line, to kill or be killed. To be them or to strike them down. That’s how fucking insane Pito is!
-Things weren’t so bad when she was burning of steam in GGO…But then she missed the Squad Jam, the first big script-changer event! And it’s caused a relapse. …So she’s going to try and turn Squad Jam 2: Gunfire Boogaloo into a death game. Yes, yes! So again. Why not the cops or professionals.
-…He can’t. Pito’s too important to him. If he goes to the police or psychiatrists, she’ll be killed, jailed or put in a psychiatric ward, and if they try to lock her up she’ll find a way to kill herself. She’d die, and not before destroying herself in the eyes of all the people who rely on her.
-…This is over her pay grade, man. She can’t help you here.
-KABEDON
-Goushi corners her up with the very important move that is Kaibedon, and look. He, loves, Pito! That’s why he has to find a way for this to end in her survival, so he can get her back to center! Karen’s first kabedon, and it’s to hear a guy confess his love for someone else. This is bullshit.
-So they end up sitting back down, with Goushi drinking black coffee, which he hates, but he drinks it because Pito likes it. …Dude just have a sweet drink and mellow. So, okay, talk it out. What’s your plan and why aren’t you scared like when she had P-chan aimed at your damn head?
-Because his real fear isn’t death…It’s leaving Pito behind without him there to keep her grounded. Say he dies. Hell, say Pito kills him. Then…Then what. What if she doesn’t have the will to kill herself? What if she tries for suicide by cop, or worse, what if she breaks down and her resolve cracks entirely? She’d be destroyed. She wouldn’t even have the dignity of death, she’d have a hollow life.
-And okay, explain in very small words how Karen’s supposed to help.
-Enter the SJ 2, face Pito, and defeat her in battle!
-…WHAT?!
-You are the one person who she will accept a defeat from. She made that promise to you! If you defeat her honestly, and if she knows it’s an honest fight…She’ll be stuck to her promise. She’ll have to stay alive, so she can meet you. And that’ll give him time, to pull her back to center and out of this relapse state.
-…This is insane. This is ludicrous. But…If it’s the only option on the board…Guess she’s entering.
-Credits!
-Aftercredits! Karen’s back in bed, and now has Goushi’s personal email as a way to talk…But Karen needs someone to enter with. Who the hell can LLENN rely…on…Miyu! MIYU SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP! …Miyu is so fucking down. They’re gonna rage, Karen!
I guess SAO’s gonna SAO, huh. Gotta be honest, I would’ve enjoyed this more without the death game angle. But oh well, let’s try and enjoy ourselves next time, in episode SIX of SAO Alt: GGO! Wait for it!

Pink is the Deadliest Color: The True Purpose of LLENN's Outfit
If you've ever played first-person shooters like Call of Duty or recent battle royale-style romps such as Fortnite, you're probably familiar with the core concepts behind Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online's game mechanics and strategy. You want to find and shoot the other players to win; naturally, your other main goal is to not die in the process. Given these basics, you were probably surprised when you first saw our protagonist LLENN's choice of outfit - a bright pink bunny suit topped off with all-pink guns. However, there are both practical and psychological advantages to looking like a bright plate of salmon on the battlefield.
In fact, Keiichi Sigsawa - original author of both this show and Kino's Journey - is so confident in this concept that he put himself in his own story. The in-universe Sigsawa was inspired to host the event because of how fascinated he was by Kirito and Sinon's performance in the Bullet of Bullets, which you can see in the second season of Sword Art Online. His likeness in the show is uncanny, and he even describes his own character as a gun fanatic.  Between LLENN's unique form of success and the way it utilizes Gun Gale Online's own internal rules, it's clear he's a fan, and it shows in how well he manages to incorporate such an out-there character design into a gritty world like this one.
Over the course of four episodes we've seen the practical side of our protagonist's bright clothes. When they arrive in the forest part of the map at the beginning, M recognizes this area as obviously not meshing well with LLENN's pink. However, he utilizes the way she stands out to use her as a distraction for the enemy, ensuring he can safely camp out while they are focused on the obvious target she becomes. It can work the other way around too – LLENN manages to come out on top in her first PVP encounter by hiding in plain sight, inadvertently using her pink uniform to blend in with the sand of the desert. Even the size of her guns is an unlikely asset; because they are so small, she can hide them inside her cape, and the aiming assist system of Gun Gale Online allows her to use her cute P90 from much farther a distance than would be possible in reality. These things, combined with her small size, allowed her to become the infamous “Pink Devil”, killing before her victims could even properly see her.
If that sounds too good to be true, then let's look at history. In World War II, the British Long Range Desert Group, or LRDG, allowed commanders to choose whatever paint job for their vehicles that they thought was best. There were many odd-seeming choices made for a variety of reasons, but the most relevant to understanding LLENN's success is Desert Pink. This was utilized to let vehicles like rovers blend into the desert backdrop, especially during dawn and dusk, which were considered the most dangerous times of day. They were given the nickname “Pink Panthers”, and though not all of them were painted the soft pink we're discussing here, similar rovers were still frequently called “Pinkies”. Even outside of the desert, similar reasoning was used to paint British Royal Navy ships “Mountbatten pink”, named after the first ship to use it, and the Spitfire, a spy aircraft, was painted a light pink to blend in with the clouds. LLENN's pink is a bit brighter than the shades used in these situations, but it ultimately serves the same purpose.
Of course, there are more than practical reasons to be a ricocheting pink pinball of death – the fame. As we've said, LLENN's “Pink Devil” persona is known all throughout the playerbase, and she didn't adopt it as much as earn it. It's a unique and surprising calling card, and it also manages to make her pink suit actively scary. In a way, while she chose pink for its cuteness, LLENN is returning the color to its roots; at least as recently as the 18th century, pink was a masculine color, even invoking war, which Sigsawa absolutely knew when coming up with her character. Surprise quickly turns to fear in the faces of LLENN's enemies. Whether she is hiding in a hole under a briefcase or rolling across the ground to avoid gunfire, her unstoppable skills cast a feeling of menace over her bright outfit and puffy “bunny ear” beret.
While the show goes on, we continue to see the secret power held in LLENN's cute exterior, and as history has shown us, she is carrying on a timeless tradition. Just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by its cover – or a gun by its color. Have do you outfit your character in videogames? Do you go for utility or kawaii? Let us know in the comments below!

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online - Episode 03
Oh bother, I have ants coming up through the foundation again. Guess it’s back to the kitchen and the iPad setup while I wait for the bug spray to dry so I can do another check. But even in times of crisis, anime must go on! It’s Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, episode 03! Here we GO!
-We begin exactly where we left off, with LLENN learning about the Squad Jam. Which she misheard as Squid Jam. Which...Well, her mind goes to the spread. My mind goes to Splattoon. I think mine’s better.
-Anyways, yeah it’s a battle royale format. And Pito was excited, to say the least.
-Opening!
-Episode 03! “Fan Letter”
-So, as Pito and LLENN worked on a little plan of theirs, they talked more about the specifics of the Squad Jam. As well as the Bullet of Bullets tournament seasons, where there was an interesting twist of two players squadding up to get to be the last two standing and decide from there.
-Someone here in Japan saw this live, and got the idea to make a formal squad tournament format. The idea got sent to ZASKAR, the company that runs GGO, and the guy who saw it even put up money to sponsor the whole thing himself it’s the author isn’t it. It’s the SAO Alt GGO author’s fictional counterpart.
-“Well, he’s a gun freak and a novelist. This is what you get when those things are combined.” Yeah it’s the author.
-But it worked. The first Squad Jam is a mini tournament, a testbed to see if the idea can fly, and I’ll point out that’s how we got Fortnite.
-Anyways, they already had a lot of signups at this point...But LLENN wasn’t that interested. At least until Pito straight up told her to join in. Pito, sadly, couldn’t join in herself because of real-world commitments...But she wanted to see LLENN push as far as she could!
-Of course, lacking a teammate would be a problem...But Pito knew a guy. Bit of an oddball, but good guy. And Pito also got the sense that...Well bluntly, LLENN needs this. That the girl’s dealing with something in the real world, and comes to GGO as an escape.
-Pito knew it all too well, being the same way. And that’s why she wanted to push LLENN into the tournament...And then their trap went off! A big monster had spawned in and eaten a fat explosion to the head, raging against their wall of gunfire!
-So in the real world, Karen ended up talking about it to Miyu and, sidenote, she’d picked up an airsoft P90. Which is just hanging on her coat rack.
-Actually, a lot of little details of LLENN slipped into her life. She even had a keychain of her pink P90 hanging on her bulletin board. And anyways, Miyu thought, plain and simple, that Karen should go for it.
-The one problem was that the 1st was the same day as that concert they were thinking of going to...Of course, that obviously would come to not happen.
-Karen ended up doing a bunch of research into it. Interestingly, the Squad Jam has a distinct setup from your more typical battle royale format, where you actually get to take your personal gear in with you beyond cosmetics. I’m more used to the PUBG/Fortnite model of going in bare handed and white knuckled. There’s also the radar system, and a fully randomized spawn instead of the plane/bus format.
-Anyways, later in the month, Karen passed by those gaggle of schoolgirls again, which just put a mess of anxiety and frustration into her system...And then learned they couldn’t get the tickets. So that secured it. She was going to pour all of her anger into the Squad Jam, and fucking murder some people.
-So that night it was into the game to meet up with Pito, who was very eager to see her do this. While they waited for her friend, they went over the core rules. Full friendly fire, and ten minutes of corpse persistence. And, the sneaky trick...That the scanners would only show the team leader.
-Which LLENN could immediately see the uses of...But of course, the team leader isn’t the singular lynchpin of the team, either. Everyone’s entered in ranks. Leader’s at the top, when they go down, number 2 becomes the new leader, down the line.
-So, there’s our core rules for how the Squad Jam works. Also, the team leader holds sole control over resignation. And also also LLENN would be the team leader for their strategies!
-And that’s when the biggest man LLENN had ever seen stepped into the room. Meet M. Pito then immediately bounced, leaving them stuck together in the room alone.
-At least M was as nervous as LLENN, and that helped bond them some. But also, Pito barely gave LLENN any information...
-So it was to the training field, where M ran LLENN through a mess of tests just to see how well she could use her stats, follow orders, and respond to changing circumstances. Also being Sonic.
-And how to work with his vintage battle rifle, set up to intermediate and long distances. M’s, by the way, a gun freak, and takes the game very seriously.
-There was also the question of why she was the team leader...Because he had a plan. And it all relied on being able to use an incredibly fast, small, hard to hit target as the centerpoint of attention.
-Cut to Karen’s place, where she was writing a fan letter to Elsa the singer while listening to her music. Where she admitted a lot of her problems, her height complex and the way it fed into her anxiety...All the things you can’t tell the people who know you, but you can get out in this letter that will be lost in the crowd.
-She wrote it all out, and sent it...
-And then there came the day. February 1st. The first ever official Squad Jam! Which even included a side event where you could bet on total shots fired in the tournament for a nice fat prize pool.
-So LLENN and M locked in, ready to see how far they could go...They kitted up, locked in, and M also gave her a combat knife just in case. A vicious tool for someone so small and fast, especially in a game with such accurate locational damage. Which M spoke of with a lot of terrifying authority.
-And you know how that first match went.
-Credits!
Huh. I’m starting to wonder more about who M is, now...From episode one I just figured he was a serious styled player, but he knows a lot of little details that aren’t in the core mechanics of GGO, and not warm and fuzzy details either...
Perhaps we’ll learn more next time, in episode FOUR of SAO Alt: GGO! Wait for it!
