#Gai proved him wrong time and time again

Gai was his most consistent support. His presence never faltered in Kakashiâs life even when he was in the trenches of hell and experiencing the atrocities that he subjected himself to because his guilt was so heavy he didnât believe he deserved to live.
Gai loved him before that, Gai loved him during it and Gai loves him after. I believe with my heart and soul that if Gai died Kakashi would shatter in a way he never could come back from.
Love Gai and Kakashi's friendship in canon with all my heart and soul. Yes, they are soulmates in every sense. Best friends. Rivals. In many ways, Gai was closer to Kakashi as a person than the entire Minato team. I think Gai would have been the final straw that would have broken the camel's back. If Kakashi lost Gai too, Kakashi would 100% commit suicide. There's no way around it. And that's the reason Obito didn't kill Gai. Obito was determined to make Kakashi suffer and all, but he also wanted Kakashi to live in that hell with him. Yes, Gai's death would make Kakashi suffer, but it would also drop Kakashi into the abyss of death.
#thereâs a reason Kakashi tried pushing him away during his anbu days#he believed anyone and everyone around him would die#Gai proved him wrong time and time again#showing Kakashi that heâll fight like hell to live and he believes him#imagine if after proving kk wrong for so long that he finally ends up being killed and proving kk right?#he would die. Window Crashinâ
WandaNat x Spidey!Reader
Summery: Crashing into the wrong window at night proves to be the best mistake youâve ever made.
Warnings: Very OBLIVIOUS reader, straight up stupid I canât lie. Gay panics all around. Fluff
Word count: 1.6k
A/n: my first time officially writing for Nat and I think Iâd like to continue so expect separate fics of her sometime soon.
Kraven had become an incessant thorn in your side, his relentless rampage ever since he announced âThe Grand Huntâ in the heart of Central Park felt like a never-ending nightmare. One that persistently dragged on as the weeks floated by, each day a new form of tinnitus growing in your eardrums at the echoings of his horn. Falling once again into his endless game of cat and mouse.
Or in your case Kraven and Spiderâwith Kraven playing predator and you, the elusive Spider, trying to lure him away from innocent civilians roaming the streets of New York.Â
Which wasnât as easy as one would imagine, but you made do with what you had, brains over brawns. Clinging onto the hope that eventually, Kraven would grow tired of chasing and resign for the night, with the promise that heâd return. And so the cycle goes on.Â
There were other options you could resort to, but those were last resorts, ones you only used if you were certain you couldnât handle Kraven or in case of an emergency. In all honesty, youâre avoiding involving the Avengers, itâs really the last thing you want this to come to. A couple of broken ribs wasnât an Avengers level threat.
You could handle Kraven by yourself perfectly fine, and nobody got hurt at the end of the dayâexcept mainly your sleep schedule.
And now, as you swung through the thick chilling air on route to the compound; you were struggling to stay awake, the bruises littered across your body only making it harder to keep swinging. It wasnât that sleep had ever been your strong suit, but now, it seemed like a distant luxury. The sacrifice of a hero came in many forms, and sleep deprivation was yours.Â
Tony had sacrificed half his company in pursuit of a heroic lifestyle, hell, even Steve froze himself to save humanity. If humanity needed you to suffer from fewer hours in bed, then so be it.Â
You fought relentlessly to keep your eyes from drooping and it only took the honking of a truck for you to jolt awake, merely missing out on the experience of being rammed by one.Â
Shaking your head, you muttered words of encouragement to yourself, living on a prayer of making it back to the compound - in one piece.Â
As the familiar building came into view, you let out a breath of relief you didnât know you were holding. Taking a moment to gather yourself, you swung around towards the left block and homed in on your window, only to face-plant straight into it with a resounding thud.
You groaned against the pavement, pressing your hands on the wall to steady yourself before you could slide off. Silently thanking that radioactive spider for granting you the ability to stick to surfaces as you adjusted yourself, what the fuck?
A miscalculation on your partâor at least you pictured. Pushing yourself back from the wall, your eyebrows crinkled. Huh.
You always left your window openâhad one of your teammates closed it off?
Assuming one of the guys mustâve closed it off, you didnât question much, missing your bed and running on pure exhaustion to really assess the situation seriously. Gripping the sides of the window, you tried to pry from the outside, and after a couple of difficulties; you managed to unlock it, budging it open with a click.Â
Finally, home sweet home.Â
Your body toppled into the room first before the rest of your body crashed onto the floor, reaching an arm to shut the window behind you. With a sigh of relief, you picked yourself up, stretching your arms above your head, eliciting a satisfying âpopâ from your back, feeling all the pent-up tensions of the day leave your body.Â
Pressing the button on your chest, making quick work of discarding your suit. You struggled more than youâd like to admit, having to hop on one foot to wiggle your feet out of the padding.Â
Amidst your squirming, you failed to notice the crimson warps seeping from your bed, freezing mid-movement as the lights flickered on by themselves, looking like a deer caught in headlights.Â
âJesus fucking Christ!â You screeched, scrambling up to your feet, firmly clutching your uniform in a poor attempt to cover yourself from the two women on your bed, equally startled.
âY/nâŚ? What are you doing here?â Natasha says after a beat of silence, her eyes furrowing as she lowers her gun and the arm protectively wrapped around her girlfriend. Wanda mirrored her actions and let the red wisps fall before she turned to you disconcertingly.
You shrunk under their gaze, feeling your heart pick up. It was too late to salvage any attempts at running for it, so you turned away, ignoring how affected you felt by their disheveled appearances.
Instead, you focused on why they were inside your room in the first place. Not that you minded having two beautiful women in your bed but at this hour?Â
âWhat are you doing in my room? I just got back, whatâsâŚâ Your voice trailed off, slipping on your suit, as you looked towards your dresserâŚwas it always that color? And why was there a photo of Wanda and Natasha on your nightstand? Sure, you were hopelessly in love with the two but never to this extent.
Barely bordering on those lines.Â
âDetkaâŚthis is our room,â Wanda said slowly, as to not startle you.Â
You cursed under your breath, realizing your mistake. âAw fuck, I mustâve crashed into the wrongâwall-side thing,â you explained messily, picking yourself up for what felt like the hundredth time tonight.Â
âCrashed?â Both of the girls shouted and you winced, scooting off awkwardly to the side, feeling even more like an intrusion.Â
âYeah but itâs okay though, thatâs nothing compared to Kraven's fists, trust me.â You meant to reassure them, but judging by the worried looks they exchanged, it had the opposite effect. Taking their silence as an opportunity to leave, you stepped back.
âAnyways, sorry for interrupting your night.â You mumbled apologetically, reaching for the window handle. âIâll see y'all tomorrowâ son of a bitch.â You grunted, banging your head against the glass for the second time this night. You were really starting to resent these things. Â
And Wanda bit her bottom lip, âMalysh, itâs late and youâreâŚnot doing well, why donât you stay here tonight?â She suggested softly, her voice coming out as sweet as honey and you almost dropped dead there.
âHere?â You blurted out, feeling a mixture of surprise and uncertainty. âLike, with you and Nat?â
Natasha and Wanda shared an amused look, before nodding in unison.Â
Your face crinkled, not really understanding what the looks were for but you assumed it was all in your head. Sparing one last glance at the two, you confirmed this was okay, searching for even the smallest bits of hesitancy or discomfort only to find nothing but welcoming smiles.Â
With a small nod, barely audible, you murmured a hesitant âalright,â as you settled into the chair beside their bed, placing your feet on the small wooly ottoman.
Had your eyes been open, you mightâve noticed the way their faces dropped in disappointment. After months of obvious pining, not-so-subtle flirting thrown your way, you were choosing to sleepâŚnot with them but on a chair.
A brief silence lingered, and you shifted in your seat. Even with your eyes closed, you could feel their eyes piercing and you were starting to sweat.
âSorry,â You mumble, heat rising up your neck in embarrassment as you removed your feet off the ottoman, fearing you had overstepped. Still, their gazes remained unwavering and you rubbed your arm unsurely, âIs the chair offâlimits too? I can take the floor if thatâs better.â
âDorogoy, weâre inviting you into our bed,â Natasha chuckles disbelievingly, fingers tracing the covers as to tempt you with the invitation.Â
âMhmm, yeah no. Iâm not sure thatâs a good idea.â You shook your head, stumbling over your words. âI donât do well in confined spaces with pretty women, I meanâ no wait you are, both are super pretty but thatâs notââÂ
Thankfully, Wanda interjected before you could embarrass yourself further with a giggle. You swore your stomach flipped. âCute, but wonât you get cold?â She suggested, Natasha nodding and lifting the covers, adding, âItâs much warmer over here.â
Again, you waved them off and they were starting to get fed up with your excuses. âOh nah! My suit has thermal heating installed, pretty cool right? Tony helped me insulate itââ
âY/n, just get in the bed.â
Before you could protest further, you felt those warm red tendrils wrap around you, coaxing you into their bed, and you couldnât even remember why you were fighting this in the first place when their arms wrapped around you. Not when their sheets were so warm, and their bodies warmer.Â
Resistance be damned, as Natasha's hand ran gently through your hair, you relaxed into it, and both girls smiled. This was how things needed to be, always.Â
Still, your heart was beyond nervous to even enjoy the moment but they were pushing at your shoulders to tuck you in further, getting settled themselves. They tangled their limbs with your own and it was official; there was definitely no escaping this.Â
Pressing a kiss to the corner of your mouth, Wanda murmured a couple of words and you felt more comfortable clothes encase you. Natasha pressed a tender kiss to the shell of your ear before bidding you a good night.
You repeat her words back and they tighten their grip, closing their eyes.Â
With exhaustion finally catching up to you, your eyes drooped helplessly again, fluttering shut, bones begging for sleep, and you finally surrendered to its embrace. Allowing yourself a moment of rest with the two people you treasure most in the world.Â
And suddenly, crashing into windows didnât seem so bad after all.

Just pointing out that Mike didnât even technically join hellfire himself. Eddie straight up tells us that he saw Mike and Dustin (probably Lucas as well) sitting at an outsider table and knowing that Theyâll be the future of hellfire. Eddie took them in so Mike didnât even actively seek this. Wouldnât be bad if he did though.
And something rather ironic is that the non-conformist club has a uniform lmao. The hellfire club members are still conforming, just not to societal standards. Theyâre confirming to Eddieâs standards. Mike is forcing himself to conform just as much in hellfire as he is anywhere else. Mike isnât really finding himself again, heâs still very much trying to blend in with the crowd. Still trying to be normal and conform and overcompensating so much on that that heâs leaving his individuality behind. Mike is shapeshifting this season. Heâs pretending. He is Not yet accepting himself at all. And I think his aversion to popularity is not so much about him not caring what others think of him, but actually exactly about what others already think of him and how he just tries to blend into the crowd that others have decided on being the place where he belongs (I have an unfinished post about this thatâs been rotting in my drafts for months lmaoo).
One thing I see on bylertok way too much is people pointing out that even though Will told Mike itâs ânot possibleâ that heâd ever join another party (replace Mike), Mike still went and joined Hellfire after he told Will to grow up and move on from D&D in S3 (which Will ended up doing)
It takes everything in me not to summarize the situation every single damn time I see someone mentioning it as if itâs proof that Mike âdoesnât deserve Willâ or something because itâs so frustrating that people just donât understand anything about Mike and try and cling to any bit of âfaultâ in his actions to justify why Byler wouldnât work and why they donât ship it
Because this whole ordeal had nothing to do with Mike and Willâs friendship, it was bought about in the first place by Mike and Elâs ever incompatible relationship
Mike loves D&D, he loves writing, he loves being DM for the Party, he loves being with the Party. He never stopped loving these things, he stopped pursuing his interests because he was so over invested in being ânormalâ, which in his mind means ditching his friends for his girlfriend. El doesnât like D&D, she doesnât share Mikeâs interests in his favourite things and because of that, Mike dropped all of it in favour of making out with El. Because thatâs what youâre supposed to do in a relationship, and so thatâs what he did
Of course, none of that is Elâs fault either; El is learning the world and will eventually learn what she likes personally when she befriends Max whilst Mike is lost in juggling between what he should like vs. what he actually does like
All that is to say;
Mike dropped D&D because of El
(again, not Elâs fault Iâm not trying to blame her for anything it just is what it is)
So circling back to the ânot possibleâ moment, I wanna point out that Mikeâs insecurity in that moment specifically is Will leaving him emotionally because Will already is physically leaving and Mike blames himself. Heâs mentioned himself obviously that heâs afraid of losing Will but heâs also made it clear many times. After their fight, Mike just wants to know that Will would still choose him and Will assures him that he wouldnât be replacing Mike. Will placed no expectations on Mike when he said this, he just wanted to reassure Mike that theyâre okay and that theyâll be okay which is exactly what Mike wanted
After Will and El left, Mike joined Hellfire because he could focus on doing the things he liked again without having to devote himself to being Elâs boyfriend. I was happy for Mike to have D&D back when I first watched S4 and I know Will would be happy that Mike is finding himself again. And while weâre on the topic of Mike finding himself, since heâs joined Hellfire heâs started slowly accepting himself and accepting that he doesnât care anymore if he fits into the standard or not. He doesnât care about popularity or people liking him. He is growing and heâs been getting his character development
Anyway thatâs all I just love analysing Mike itâs so interesting, but in this case I donât think it even needs to be analysed. Mike isnât himself around El and thatâs got nothing to do with Willâ thatâs just Milevens relationship dynamic
#even when mike refused to pursue his interest in dnd he never acts like he genuinely doesnât like it#and heâs never shown to be insecure about being a nerd Unless it comes to El#thatâs when heâs insecure about that stuff#generally he just isnât#and he also never pretended like he genuinely lost interest in dnd#instead he says that heâs not in the mood to play rn#or literally that he will be there to play with will#but he very openly states that he feels like this is something he Had to let go of since heâs growing up#like#yâall know what i mean??!#the theory that mike is super insecure about being a nerd#is solely based on the line âone day sheâll find out iâm just some random nerdâ#while the rest of the show very much shows us that Mike is Only insecure about his nerdy interests infront of el#Not generally#i think getting back into playing dnd after s3 is something mike did#because he realized that being gay wasnât just a phase tied to childhood that he would overcome once he grows up#which is why he leaves his childhood behind as he thinks his gayness is tied to it#but again#heâs proved wrong at the end of s3#so if he just IS gay#meaning his gayness never had anything to do with his childhood#meaning leaving his childhood doesnât change anything#doesnât make him like girls#what is the point in not pursuing dnd then?#so thatâs why i think mike still plays dnd again#even though he doesnât accept himself for being gay yet#even though he doesnât accept himself for Who He Is yet#time for lenoraâs opinion

I have an x reader request for Lucifer (you write him so well!!) with a mute!reader. Bonus if you make it gay, but gender neutral is good too. ty đ
Lucifer Morningstar x Mute!Reader
Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ęâ˘ĚŤÍĄâ˘Ę
⢠Lucifer loves to talk. Initially he thought a conversation with you couldnât be worth havingâ heâs so fucking grateful to be proved wrong! Youâre his favorite person to share things with
⢠Smiling when youâre enthused about something isnât enough, you clap or take his hands and jump around with him. Sometimes he canât help himself, scooping you up and taking you for a flight to share in your infectious joy
⢠When you donât appreciate something he says but heâs so worked up he doesnât notice your gestures to stop, you flick his hat. The first time you did it, he reeled. Itâs an effective method
⢠If that doesnât work, you ground him by holding his shoulders. Looking into your eyes tells him all he needs to know
⢠âAre you reading my mind right now?â
You shoot him a playful glare
⢠Thanks to you, Luciferâs become fluent in body language. This helps immensely when you donât have energy to communicate in your regular ways
⢠Physical touch can be a challenge when the King of Hell is as sensitive as he is. He appreciates when you tap the back his hand before taking it as you please
⢠Has paper or something to write with in every room on the off chance you misplaced your phone. He keeps a pen of your favorite color in his coat pocket
⢠On that note, Luci keeps everything you write on. Itâs a bit ridiculous, thereâs a file cabinet dedicated to past, present and future notes you write (even if theyâre not for him)
⢠During Charlieâs karaoke night, Lucifer is your biggest fan! Heâs cheering like youâre putting on the show of your life as you mouth the words to your favorite song

Okay, takes out pitch notecards, so the line about not being a psychic in the TVLine article. It gave me ideas.
Tommy Kinard is a psychic.
Not a Carrie or Firestarter psychic. Not a Jean Grey or Professor Xavier psychic.
No.
More of a That's So Raven psychic.
Sometimes, he can see the future. Not a lot of the future;l mere glimpses of the future. Usually, they were terrible - unhappy endings or bad moments that involved Tommy. Especially when he met new people.
Every time Tommy introduced himself to a new person, he would see a glimpse of the end of his relationship with that person.
A falling out.
A fading friendship.
A death.
All Tommy's life, he tried to ignore them. Tried to push down the notion that he could see any part of the future. That he would know where this will all go. But well, it was hard to push away that part of himself after Abby. He had finally accepted that he was gay. Why not believe in the fact that he could see the future? Definitely made his job easier.
Because.
Sometimes.
Just sometimes.
Tommy could stop a terrible thing from happening. He had never been able to do so with an altercation. He had never stopped a relationship from falling apart. But he had stopped disasters before, and well, people had proved him wrong in the past. When he had first met Howie, after all, Tommy had seen himself dying in that mall alone. Howie had been the first person to prove Tommy wrong.
That his visions, while he hadn't fully accepted them at that point, could change, if only in life or death situations.
So, it was odd.
It was supremely weird that when Tommy introduced himself to a certain Evan "Buck" Buckley, well, he saw nothing.
Nada.
Zip.
He literally saw no future. And that wasn't even to say that Tommy hadn't foreseen something that involved Evan. He had, after all, had a nightmare about a helicopter in a hurricane right before Howie had called him for help.
But Tommy had never met someone with literally no future with Tommy.
So, Tommy thinks, Okay. Maybe my presence in this man's life is so inconsequential that there's literally nothing for me to see. Which feels like a shame because Evan seems like such a nice guy. And they have a pretty good conversation on the way back from the cruise rescue. And maybe if Evan wasn't straight, well, Tommy would have loved to have asked Evan out for a beer at the very least.
But no future was no future. Tommy didn't try to think anything of it. After all, he seemed to have an okay vision for once in his life when it came to a friendship with the other new face he met, Eddie Diaz. And who's to say friendships aren't just as important as crushes?
So, Tommy focuses on that. Focuses on a new blossoming friendship with Eddie.
Until.
He gets a call.
From Evan Buckley.
And that was weird. Tommy hadn't expected that. How could he? He was seemingly so inconsequential to Evan that he had no future with the man. But there Evan was, rambling until he got to what had to be the point of the call - that Evan wanted to see Harbor Station again.
And.
Okay.
Tommy could show Evan around the station. It probably didn't matter in the end. After all, Tommy had no future with the guy. Why not spend a little time with him if he got the opportunity? It wouldn't hurt, right?
So, Tommy agrees to the tour. Despite knowing that this would make Tommy like Evan more even no future with him. Which felt a little bit like torture late, but Tommy never felt that way when Evan was around. He just liked hanging out with the guy. Getting to know him. Getting to see him.
Just.
Being with him.
Tommy feels bad when he realizes that he didn't quite schedule everything in a way where he could spend more time with Evan. That he has the fight in Las Vegas with Eddie.
And well.
It wasn't as if he and Evan had a future.
So, Tommy tries not to think about it. He focuses on the fight; on Muay Thai; on fixing cars; on karaoke trivia night. And he's having fun with Eddie, so that's nice at least.
Then.
Tommy sees Evan again.
At pickup basketball.
And it would feel like serendipity if not for the fact that Tommy knows there's nothing there. That there's no way for something to be there. But he's happy, nonetheless, and he's excited to play basketball with Evan.
Well.
Until Evan sprains Eddie's ankle. Which makes Tommy wonder if he was messing something up here. If he was jamming up some cogs of fate and doing something to impact this person's fate because Tommy hadn't exactly predicted that ankle injury.
Tommy decides to apologize. To hopefully course correct whatever was happening; maybe disengage from Eddie so that whatever Tommy was doing to hurt an already built friendship wouldn't come to pass any longer.
Except.
Evan's the one who apologizes. And talks about insecurities and jealousies. And well, Tommy finds himself talking about his own. He finds himself explaining how all he wanted to be was part of them. Part of the family Howie and Hen had at the 118 now.
And.
Well.
Tommy finds himself reading something; in the way Evan comforts him; in the way Evan talks about his feelings toward Tommy. And - fuck it. It wasn't as if there was a future there. Couldn't hurt to kiss the guy, especially if this might be the only opportunity to do so.
And.
It feel so right.
It feels so perfect that Tommy's scared that opening his eyes will lead to everything crashing; would lead to him realizing just how wrong the kiss was.
But it wasn't.
Evan seemed to like the kiss.
And Tommy finds himself asking Evan out despite himself because, well, Tommy could cling to whatever time he got with the man even without a future to perceive, right? Just meant any time with Evan was a bonus. Some strange loophole that Tommy had found himself jumping through.
And the first date goes poorly. And there's a huge fire that he has to go to when the wedding happens. And it feels as if fate itself is trying to push Tommy away from this man, this Evan Buckley. And somehow, the more fate tries to tear Tommy away from Evan, the more Tommy tries to fight it.
Because he loves Evan.
Despite everything, he does.
And okay.
Maybe Tommy has succumb to the will of fate at the moment.
Maybe he's folded.
It's so hard to fight fate, after all. How could he when fate finally sent him a sign - sent him a vision that he wouldn't be Evan's last.
But, well.
Despite knowing full well that there was no way to stop it. That it would be selfish to keep Evan to himself. To love him how he does. Tommy still feels himself wanting to text back.
Maybe.
Wanting to be with Evan despite what his visions have told him.
But that was selfish, right?
So, Tommy lets the text go.
But.
Still.
Maybe he should fight for this.

Frat Parties Suck
Description: It's basically that episode of SLOCG where Leighton and Alicia kiss for the first time but reader replaces Alicia.
WARNINGS: leighton being a gay mess, reader getting beat up, love confessions, fluff
leighton was extremely nervous.
not for her brother or his fraternity. no, she didn't really care about them. she was nervous because the girl she had been pining over for the last two weeks was going to said frat to "inspect" it.Â
she met y/n after she got assigned community service for underage drinking and vandalism (that she thinks if she doesn't remember it happening, it didn't happen). the president of the school didn't take too kindly to that and sent leighton to the campus women's center.
her and y/n butt heads the second they met. leighton thought she was too good for the women's center and tried to bribe y/n but the girl wasn't having it. by the end of their first conversation, leighton was storming out of the building pissed off and turned on. y/n was hot as shit.Â
the weeks went by and somehow some way, the blonde managed to kinda weasel her way into y/n's life. she had been making y/n smile more than yell so she thought she was getting somewhere.
and then the frat party came up.
while going through clothes they were going to donate, towa brought up the plan of the group going to a drag brunch, leighton politely declined, stating that theta was throwing a huge party. the group went silent and leighton looked confused. she smiled at them. "why is everyone so quiet? did i say something triggering again?"
y/n spoke up. "i get that your brother is in theta, but frats can be extremely sexist, toxic nightmares. we have been campaigning to get rid of greek life for over a year." leighton sighed. i know frats get a bad rep but theta actually does good. they just finished a construction project in mexico." y/n scoffed. "yeah, for the bar that they burned down."
leighton sighed again. "okay, maybe they aren't perfect but have any of you actually been to a frat party?" silence. the blonde grinned. "so we're making a judgmental assumption?" leighton smiled at y/n who smiled back. "you're right. i mean we shouldn't be judging theta until we go to one of their parties." leighton nodded, satisfied with how the conversation went.
"so maybe we should all go tonight."
leighton shot it down instantly. "no! you guys have your super fun....plans." y/n shook her head. "no, we are going to give theta a chance to prove us wrong. send me the invite." y/n crossed her arms and leighton shamelessly stared at the girl's biceps.Â
i wonder how they would feel around my ne-
"leighton, you still with us?"
the blonde nodded. "yup. invite. i will send it."
leighton stood next to her brother, impressed with how fast theta changed gears for the party. "we got rid of any and all triggers." the blonde smiled at nico. "yeah, it looks good. i don't think there's anything that the women's center will hate." speak of the devil(s), ginger, towa and the rest of the women's center crew walked in, sans y/n. nico offered to show the girls around as leighton let out a breath, sighing deeply.
then, like something out of a movie, y/n walked in, sighing. leighton felt like she was going to pass out at how hot the girl looked. she wasn't dressed too fancy, a hoodie and some jeans, but leighton felt like she couldn't breathe. y/n smiled at the girl, walking towards her. "so, tonight is going to be a shit show isn't it?"Â
leighton laughed. "oh yeah. um, do you want a drink?" y/n laughed. "oh, i already pregamed in the driveway but yeah, let's keep drinking shall we?" leighton giggled and led the way to the drinks.
tonight was going to be a long night.
nico was in the middle of explaining how parties worked at theta before y/n cut him off. "you can calm down nico, i know you think that i'm some big, scary lesbian protester or something." nico laughed a little. "i did not know you were a lesbian. it would be rude of me to assume that." leighton rolled her eyes. "nico. less. please." nico straightened up as y/n laughed. "dude, i'm just here to have a good time. now, will you please hold my feet for a keg stand?"
nico looked shocked and then smirked. "only if you hold mine afterwards." both girls looked at him blankly before he whispered. "equality." leighton shook her head before spotting cory. "oh look, it's cory, i'm going to go and talk to him." she left without another word as y/n and nico went to the keg.
after dominating all the games with nico, y/n found leighton outside nursing a drink. "hey." leighton looked up and smiled at y/n. "hey. heard you and nico kicked ass. congrats." y/n chuckled. "all in a day's work." y/n glanced behind her and saw a trash can overflowing with sombreros. "uh, why are there so many sombreros in that trash can?" leighton winced. "i think that they ditched some of the more problematic elements of the party when they heard we were coming and by problematic i mean deeply, deeply racist."Â
y/n laughed as leighton saw kimberly frantically waving at her from behind y/n. "um, i will be right back, it looks like my roommate needs me for something." y/n nodded. "i get it, i'll be here." leighton smiled shyly and headed toward kimberly.
leighton wasn't gone for five minutes before nico came running towards her and her roommates. "nico? are you good?" nico was panting. "you gotta come with me. it's y/n. some dude called her a dyke and she said something back and then he just started beating the shit out of her."
leighton's heart dropped to her stomach. she took off running in the direction nico came and found the group of people that had gathered. she pushed through the crowd and gasped at the sight of y/n. her face was covered in blood thanks to the gash above her eyebrow. it also didn't help that her nose was bleeding. leighton could already imagine the shiner y/n was going to have tomorrow.
she rushed to the beaten girl's side, gently cupping her face. "y/n? can you hear me?" the girl softly groaned, covering leighton's hand with her own. leighton sighed in relief. nico kneeled on the other side of the girl, ordering his frat brothers to get rid of the guy. "leighton we have to take her to the hospital." that's when y/n spoke. "no..no hospital." it was slurred but leighton was able to make out what the girl said.Â
leighton sighed. the best thing would be to take y/n to the hospital but she also didn't want to go against the girl's wishes. she stood, making a decision. "no. we're taking her to my dorm."
an hour later, thanks to nico, leighton and y/n made their way back to the blonde's dorm. the girls had gone out to get some stuff to help maintain y/n's injuries since the first aid kit kimberly had wasn't going to be enough. leighton was grateful that her and y/n had some alone time. thanking nico for helping her, she grabbed a washcloth she had in her room and a water bottle, using it to wet the towel.
she gently began wiping the drying blood off the girl's face, being careful of the cuts that littered her skin. y/n groaned a little before leighton gently shushed her. "shhh, you're okay y/n. you're safe." y/n groaned again, grabbing leighton's hand that was cleaning her face. "mmm..leighton. my face hurts."Â
the blonde's heart broke and she took a risk. she gently kissed y/n's forehead, letting her lips linger. "i know, the girls are getting you some stuff to take care of that okay? they'll be here soon." y/n moaned in pain as leighton began to gently wipe her face again.
the girls soon returned and allowed leighton to finish cleaning y/n up. they all checked in on the girl before bela went to hang out in kimberly and whitney's room. leighton sat next to a cleaned up y/n, running her fingers through the girl's hair. y/n smiled at the contact. she pulled the blonde to lay next to her. "you know, i hear cuddles from a pretty girl are the best medicine." leighton giggled before making herself comfortable on y/n's chest.Â
the two laid in silence before leighton spoke up. "i was so scared. seeing you like that. i didn't think you were going to get up and there was so much blood and-" y/n shushed her, pulling the blonde closer to her. "i'm okay leight. i'm here aren't i? i have the hottest nurse taking care of me too." leighton laughed before sitting up and looking at y/n.Â
y/n noticed leighton's eyes shining in a way she hadn't seen before. it was like y/n hung the moon and the stars. she couldn't stop herself from gently cupping leighton's cheek, rubbing the girl's cheekbone with her thumb. leighton couldn't take it anymore. she leaned down and slowly placed her lips on y/n's.
fireworks went off in y/n's head as she kissed the girl back. all this time, she thought leighton was straight. just a common, cis blonde woman. boy was she wrong. the two kissed for a little longer then leighton pulled away. y/n looked shocked. "woah. i was really wrong about you." leighton chuckled before leaning in again.Â
"shut up."

She thought that coming up the hill would be the hardest part, but that proves to be wrong once sheâs at the top.
Max hadnât had the courage to visit by herself. Hadnât wanted to experience the awkwardness of being both alone and un-alone, talking to someone and no one.
Most likely no one.
She thought about buying a Ouija board, but Robin very narrowly talked her out of it.
This seemed like a better alternative anyway.
Of all the birthdays she knows her brother spent alone, held up in his room with no gifts or cake because he claimed to not care about that shit, she figured that he shouldnât get to choose this time.
So, thereâs a blanket spread out on the grass with an unopened cake from Melvaldâs on top, and a bouquet of flowers.
âMan, he wouldâve called this gay,â Steve muses.
He leans against his hand, legs semi-stretched beside him, admiring the inscription on the headstone like itâs nothing more than a rock with writing on it.
And maybe, to him, it isnât.
Max huffs a laugh, but itâs clipped near the end. Heavy, when her throat bobs, and she nods as tears slip down her cheeks.
âHeâd call me a shithead and probably still try to steal a slice when nobody was looking,â Max says with a chuckle.
Steve huffs amusedly and shrugs.
âHe was a funny guy.â
His gaze wanders off as he tugs some blades of grass up from the ground, snapping and sprinkling them into a small pile at his side with his free hand.
The finality to his words has Maxâs brows drawing together.
She often wonders if, maybe, she and Steve never clicked for a reason, and if she probably shouldnât have invited him up here when Robin suggested it.
Trust me, she had said. Take Steve, if you take anyone.
âGuess so,â Max murmurs.
Her eyes wander down to the cake sitting between them, blank, just as it was on the shelf. She wipes her eyes and thinks about reaching out to pop the plastic lid off when Steve shifts.
âWasnât really big on sweets,â he says.
Max blinks at him.
âWhat?â
âBilly,â Steve says, glancing over at her and gesturing vaguely to the headstone. âHe didnât like sweets.â
She stares for a long moment, searching her mind for a protest. Comes up blank when she tries to think of the two of them getting ice cream or something together, but she canât recall him ever ordering anything for himself.
Across the blanket, Steve hums amusedly and smiles to himself, fiddling with a single grass blade between his fingers.
âHe liked the apple pie at the diner, though. With a scoop of plain vanilla ice cream.â
âYou guys went to the diner together?â
Steveâs face flushes a light pink and he shrugs again.
âYeah? Quite a bit, actually. I think they still have his senior photo up by the register. Guy could demolish a burger.â
Maxâs eyes mist over again, but she chews her lip and nods. Pushes a hand through her hair and turns her gaze down toward the blanket.
âI always thought he was, like, out partying or something.â
âWe partied,â Steve admits. Shifts and lays down on his side, propping his head up in his hand. âBut we usually⌠found somewhere quiet and just talked. Sometimes at the diner, sometimes the quarry, I think even the pool once or twice.â
He suppresses a grin as he thinks to himself, lightly nudging his sneaker against the stone. Like heâs unaware that itâs even there.
The line between Maxâs brows deepens.
âIf you guys were so close, then why werenât you at his funeral?â she snaps.
Immediately, she cups a hand over her mouth, eyes widening as Steve glances at her again.
His brown eyes grow bigger for just a moment.
âI donât know,â he confesses. A new heat rises to the surface of his skin, eyes becoming glassy. âFelt like maybe I wasnât supposedâŚâ he pauses to clear his throat before continuing, âI, ah, visit a lot, though.â
âYou do?â Max blurts.
Steve nods. Nudges the slightly older, more brittle bouquet lying next to the fresh one with the tip of his shoe.
âWho do you think leaves the flowers?â
With her hand still clamped over her mouth, Max stares at him again.
âHow often do you come here?â
âOh, just⌠whenever,â he says. âMaybe like three or more times a week?â
âThree or more times a week?â
Now, Steve sits up, brows drawing together.
âWhatâs your deal? If I knew you were gonna freak out and yell at me about everything I say, I wouldnât have agreed to come up here.â
Max holds her hands out in front of her.
âOkay, no, youâre right, Iâm sorry,â she says. Sighs and rubs a hand over her face. âI guess I just⌠I dunno, we were never close, but I kinda always thought I knew him best. Now Iâm finding out you guys were apparently linked at the hip, and he never⌠I didnât even know he didnât like sweet stuffâŚâ
Her skin grows hot and her eyes well with tears again. Chapped and boiling over.
Steveâs expression relaxes, and he drops his shoulders.
âHe wasnât just secretive with you. Most of what I learned about him was just by observing,â Steve reassures. Then chuckles. âHe was always calling me these stupid nicknames, and the one time I called him something back â angel face â he flipped and yelled at me. No idea why.â
Max sniffles and wipes her eyes with her palms, accepting the small bundle of napkins when Steve passes it over to her.
âAngel face?â she asks.
Suddenly, Steve looks away bashfully.
âDunno, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing I said. He hated it, so I never used nicknames again.â
Max shakes her head, which earns a puzzled look.
âHe didnât hate nicknames,â she says. Glances briefly at the headstone and then away again. âAngel face is what his mom called him.â It feels like a betrayal, to say it out loud, and Max winces. âI overheard Neil mention it in their arguments once or twice.â
She fiddles with her pant leg in her lap for a moment. Looks up to see Steveâs eyes nearly overflowing with tears, staring at the headstone.
âOh,â he croaks.
The sight, the sound of his voice has Maxâs throat going tight.
She shifts in place. Watches as Steve takes a shaky breath and reaches up to wipe his eyes with the heel of his palm. Then, sheâs pushing herself up and shuffling across the blanket on her knees, reaching her arms around his shoulders.
At first, he doesnât react. Then thereâs an arm stretching around her back.
Hugging him is exactly like she thought it would be. Like heâs comforting her, and not the other way around. Steady, grounding, like she knows him to be for others.
She makes a mental note to thank Robin later on.
âHe really was a funny guy.â

Well Iâm deprived and seeing these old gay men made me come out of writing retirement.
Enjoy 18+
Inho is laying under the bunks, trying to get as much sleep in as possible but is awoken by a laugh, wait no there's two people laughing. He's curious at who would be awake other than Gihun who volunteered to keep watch. He finds himself shifting slightly to get a view and he sees Jung Bae sitting rather closely to Gihun, both with big smiles on their faces as they reminiscent about their pasts together. Inho knows he shouldn't care, should just look away but he can't, a nasty feeling gnarling away at his chest. He'd be lying to himself if he said that he wasn't jealous and he can't help but be upset for even allowing that emotion to overcome him.
When he first saw Gihun those 2 years prior at the games he was nothing special, just another player until the games progressed and he proved to be different. The way Gihun held himself, the dedication, commitment to helping others even when his own life was at stake, he was truly human but instead of wanting to reward it he wanted to tear the man down. Finding out that Gihun had spent so much time and money to find him made his heart skip a beat, he was sick for wanting Gihun to find him, for letting him find him but he could careless. He remembers the way he held his breath when Gihun entered the car before the start of the new game, how eager and determined he was to go back in not knowing that he was entering THEIR new game. Inho was already one step ahead and Gihun already lost.
He laid there silently waiting for the telltale sign of Jung Bae getting up and heading to his bunk before soft snores are heard. Inho slides himself out from under the bunk and walks silently up to Gihun and puts a hand on his shoulder a little more firmly than necessary making the man jump slightly before smiling up at him. "I'm going to take watch, you should get some sleep." Inho says quietly and all the other man can do is nod before standing up and making his way back to his own top bunk where he settles in quietly. Inho can't help but get lost in his thoughts while keeping watch, still simmering on the jealousy from the two friends fondness of each other, he tries to distract himself from it but can't help when he finally boils over.
-
Gihun lays in his bunk, the room oddly quiet besides a few snores as he finds himself drifting to sleep until he hears someone climbing to ladder to his bed. He sits up ready to strike until he sees who it is, Inho staring at him, faces merely inches apart before he chuckles at him. "You scared me, what're you doing up here?" But Inho doesn't reply, doesn't even so much as smile. The man continues to fully pull himself onto Gihuns bed before shoving his back down onto the bed forcefully and stares down at Gihun who just looks back up dumbfounded. "Inho, what's wrong? Did something happen?" He's looking up at him frantically, a cold chill going down his spine at the emotionless look he's still getting back. He goes to sit up and shove Inho off of him but is met with two hands grabbing both his wrists and pinning them to the bed and his body straddling him fully so he's unable to move. "Did I do someth-" He's cut off when a soft pair of lips roughly slam into his own, he's stunned and doesn't reciprocate at first but soon gives in.
After what feels like a decade Inho pulls away but doesn't move to far, he stares down at him again and takes one of his hands away only to rub it down Gihun cheek in a almost sickly sweet manner but roughly grabbing ahold of his throat, tight enough to cause some panic but loose enough for him to breathe shallowly. "Youre so beautiful like this, so pliant, letting me use you like some whore." I know I should be angry at the words but all they do is send heat straight into Gihuns cock and he finds himself trying to grind into Inho. "Oh, you like that? Fucking slut, are you desperate for every mans cock or just mine?" He lets go of Gihuns throat so he can answer properly. "Just you, only you please help me." He still continues to try to grind into the man on top of him til he's met with a slap across the face, the feeling making him stop completely. "Then why are you strutting yourself around to Jung Bae, huh? Think I wouldn't notice that shit. Should put you in your place."
Gihun looks utterly perplexed, "No, he's just my friend. Promise it's just you please, need you so bad, don't stop." He all but whined. Inho feels his chest swell with pride but shuts it down quickly to focus on pleasuring both himself and the man underneath him. He allows himself to grind his own hardness and the erection that his been pressing into him the whole time and he cant help but groan. "Gonna make you mine forever, you're mine, always gonna be mine." He says possessively but leaning down and lightly biting Gihuns neck before fully baring his teeth into him. He cries out at the feeling knowing skin was definitely broken. He continues thrusting up until he feels himself getting close, "gonna cum, please let me cum" he says pathetically. Inho takes pity on him, also feeling himself approaching his end, he slams his lips against Gihuns roughly, sliding his hand down to pull the mans sweatpants down and his own to let theirs cock rub together. After a few more rushed thrusts Gihun moans lowly as he starts to cum, the feeling of him pulsing against Inho and the warm sensation sends the other man over, he grunts.
Inho rolls onto his back, both mens breathing slowing down and they both just stare at each other. He knew this changed everything now, knew he wasnt ever going to let Gihun leave him ever again.

I have a BuckTommy idea/prompt:
Tin foil hat time
What if Chimney was trying to get Buck to date again so he could tell Tommy and get Tommy to realize what heâs lost?
So Chimney sets Buck on a blind date with a super hot gay guy, but itâs all apart of his plan. He knows Tommy well enough to know what restaurants he frequents and what nights.
But before Buck arrives, the guy finds Tommy sitting at the bar in the restaurant and starts flirting with him. Maybe the guy even mentions that he has a hot date in a few minutes with this bisexual guy.
Once Buck shows up, the date gets up and greets him, and makes sure Buck doesnât notice Tommy.
Tommy, however, sees the whole thing, and panics because he didnât expect Buck to start dating again so soon, and Buckâs date is an asshole for flirting with Tommy before Buck showed up.
So Tommy is stuck between letting the date happen and probably progressing, or he can be honest with Buck that his date was flirting with him until Buck arrived.
Tommy calls Chimney in a panic, and Chimney tells him âyou should definitely let Buck know that his date is a flirtâ.
Tommy is torn on what to do, but Chimney gives him that final push. Instead of confronting them, Tommy texts Buck âyour date was flirting with me before you showed upâ.
Buck gets the text is excited to see itâs from Tommy, but then he reads it and goes bright red.
Meanwhile his date asks âis something wrong?â
Buck says âYeah, you were flirting with my ex-boyfriend before I showed up.â He looks around for Tommy and sees him leaving out the front door.
Buck ends the date and follows Tommy outside to confront him.
Heâs nervous but is happy to see Tommy again, but heâs also a brat and gets snarky with Tommy and calls him a coward for leaving him twice.
They start arguing about their breakup, and Buck says âIâm in love with you, asshole, thatâs why I asked you to move in. I wanted a future with you. It you didnât want one with me.â
Tommy is stunned and starts to cry, but Buck is not having it.
He starts asking âWhy am I not good enough to fight for? Why did you leave me? You wanted to protect your heart, but you destroyed mine.â
Tommy says, âIâve been through this enough times to know when itâs time to go. Youâre still new to things. It wouldnât have worked out between us.â
Buck says, âIâm not those other guys! Iâm me, and you keep dismissing my feelings as if I havenât been in a relationship before. Just because youâre my first boyfriend doesnât mean my past relationships donât count toward dating experience. Do you not love me, is that what it is? Iâd rather you tell me the truth so I can move on.â
Tommy whispers, âIâm in love with you too, and Iâm scared youâre going to leave me. Iâm sorry, I should have been honest with you from the start or even before we made it to six months. I just wanted to enjoy myself for once and not think about the future , but I fell in love with you so hard and unexpectedly that I didnât know what to do.â
âDo I need to propose or something to convince you that Iâm serious? Hell, should we drive to Vegas to get married to prove to you that Iâm in this for the rest of my life? What do I need to do to prove to you that youâre my last?â Buck asks, crying now too.
That of course spooks Tommy again, but Buck isnât allowing him to leave this time.
âTell me, please,â Bucks says between sobs.
Tommy kisses him. He lets his hand wander through Buckâs curls, and pulls away when he needs oxygen.
âI love you so much, it hurts,â Tommy says.
âThen stay. Talk to me. Letâs try counseling or something. There has to be a better way than just ending things,â Buck suggests and Tommy nods.
Buck has a huge grin even with the tears. He kisses Tommy, and they just hold onto each other while crying.
Chimney gets a text the next day from Tommy, âyouâre a dick, but it workedâ.
End scene. What do you think?

honeysuckle: how our love unites enemies
honeysuckle:
scream okay i just edited some of airport au before getting these so it was rattling around in my head. and this ask made me think it would be funny if casey stoner showed up. so here. bad comedy. for those who do not remember last we left marc âthe weirdest rumor i ever heard about myself was that i was gayâ marquez, he had just had a sex dream about valentino rossi, who has recentlyish decided to be his friend again. as you can imagine heâs a bit confused about all this:
Marc decides that he should probably avoid Valentino for a while, after a dream like that. Get some distance and get his head on straight.
The problem is, Valentino apparently very much does not want to avoid Marc.
Itâs in the chaos of the flyaways, that long slog at the end of the season, and Marc doesnât have anything to prove at this point except for all the different things that he does, and itâs Phillip Island, a track where he can make a difference. He knows he has an opportunity where he can really sink his teeth into something here.
All said, itâs his favorite track, heâs looking forward to the weekendâ and heâs really looking forward to approximately 9,000 miles between him and Valentino Rossi and his long fingers.
Which of course means that when he wheels around a corner on his scooter that Friday, he doesnât expect to see Vale standing next to the media center with a day old scruff decorating the cut of his jaw and Casey goddamn Stoner bitching away about aero at his elbow.
Marc, shocked and in his raincoat, applies the brake to his scooter in an acute fashion and skids a little, motocross style.
Vale, under his neon yellow umbrella and always attracted to the sound of screeching rubber, sees him.
He starts walking.
Horrifically, Casey follows.
Marc smiles.
âIâve been cornered.â
âPut your hands up in the name of the law,â Vale says in a terrible imitation of a cowboy, and then greets him. âAh, you are ready for tomorrow?â
Marc nods before he can tell his neck what to do.
âLooks like no practice today, and more rain,â What would he normally say to Valentino. Well, normally he wouldnât say anything. So thatâs probably not a viable strategy.
âThatâs good for you, yes?â Vale says, blue eyes intent on him, like heâs genuinely interested. He steps close to Marc, including him under his umbrella, and Marc tightens his fingers hard on the handlebars of the scooter. âLess practice for others and thenâ with the rain, easier to catch? A left-hand circuit, so you have more room to outpace the factory bikes.â
Casey, walking slowly, arrives in time to catch the tail end of Valeâs statement, and his eyebrows twitch up, gaze ping-ponging back and forth between them.
Marc waves.
Vale, though blunt, is not wrong, and Marc will take a win in the wet of it comes to that, but the forecast clears as the weekend progresses, and the thing heâs really missing so far this year is a clean win. No wet, no sand, just him and the motorcycle and everyone else behind him. The GP23, despite being unequivocally weaker after he exploded in Indonesia and they removed his improved flywheel, is still a bike that he has enough experience on that he can use his style a bit more and manipulate it the way he needs to, so the parts change hasnât made too much of an impact on his pace. Plus, this is also one of Peccoâs more mediocre tracks, something he knows that Vale knows but will never say to Marc. Honestly, if itâs not for Pecco or the floundering VR46 team squad (unlikely), he has no idea why Vale is here. Maybe Casey invited him to do some dirt track.
He opens his mouth to twist all this into something shiny enough that it can be outwardly verbalized to two other world champions when Casey, so far neglected by Vale, speaks.
âWow. You know, I really didnât believe it.â
They pause.
âThat you two had made up again, I mean,â He throws a thumb Valeâs way. âI thought this one would take it to his grave, heâs good at that.â
Marc hits him with a weak smile and Vale doesnât even look over, eyes still on Marc and whatever he sees on his face.
Casey seems to notice, and a divot appears between his eyebrows. Marc scrambles to find something to say that will make this interaction end in the next ten seconds.
âUm, so what convinced you that he wasnât evil?â Casey asks. So much for that dream.
âSame thing that convinced me that you werenât,â Vale quips.
âJuryâs still out, then?â
Vale puts a hand on Marcâs shoulder and laughs at Casey beatifically. âAh, no. Maybe he is just prettier than you? Better in bed, you know.â
Marc laughs, high and shrill, and Casey and Vale both turn to look at him.
âOkay, Marc?â Casey asks, and Marc nods. Itâs a normal jokeâ itâs the kind Valeâs made before. About him, about Jorge Lorenzo, probably about Casey. If 20 year old Marc were here right now, he would just be thrilled that Vale was teasing Casey and using Marc to do it. That idiot would sit here and smile and think about women when he went home to jack off and go on with his day. No such pleasures for 31 year old Marc.
He swallows. He hasnât responded quick enough. Valeâs eyes narrow, and Marc feels horribly exposed. Heâs gotta get out of here.
âYeah, yeah. Something in my throat, you know? Gresiniâ uh, they need me in the box, I have to go over something. For tomorrow, the sprint. So. I should go. It was nice seeing you both, Iâll see you laterâ â
He punches the gas, and as they scramble away from the scooter to avoid getting any toes caught in the crossfire, he zooms away before he can hear their responses.
When Valeâs hand slides off of Marcâs shoulder as he accelerates, the places where his fingers touched Marc burn all the way back to the garage.
#vale imitating a cowboy call that a spaghetti western#motogp#callie speaks#asks#did this answer your prompt no not really. but casey is like what is UP with those guys lmao#vale is not there to see casey btw. if that wasnât obvious. he is stalking marc 9000 miles away bc he likes him like a CHUMP#i have an anon message abt this world that is in my drafts⌠i will get to u i WILLâŚ#rosquez#my fic#prompts#airport au

Red Wave Rapture
Inspired by the work of @transform4u and his #RedWaveRapture series
Logan slouched on the couch, idly scrolling through his phone. His uncle, Don, stood in the doorway, a familiar expression of exasperation and disappointment on his face.
"Look at you," Don said, shaking his head. "Eighteen years old, just graduated, and doing... nothing."
"Iâm figuring things out," Logan muttered, not looking up from his screen.
"Yeah? Figuring out how to waste your life?" Don retorted, stepping into the living room. "You donât have a job, you donât have a plan, and frankly, you donât have any direction. Youâre living in my house, eating my food, and playing activist online. Thatâs not going to cut it, Logan."
Logan groaned and put his phone down. "Here we go again. Youâre mad because Iâm not living up to your big, conservative expectations."
Donâs face hardened. "Letâs get one thing straight: Iâve tried to be patient with you, but your whole âIâm gay and proudâ thing? I donât get it. Never have, never will. And this whole aimless, rebellious phase of yours isnât helping anything."
Logan glared at him. "My âphaseâ isnât going anywhere. You can be disappointed all you want, but Iâm not changing who I am."
Don smirked. "Youâre right; I canât change who you are. But maybe discipline can. Letâs make a bet. Youâve got one month to find a job and stick with it. If you canât, youâre enrolling in the police academy. Maybe some structure and pride in something bigger than yourself will do you good."
Logan rolled his eyes. "Yeah, like Iâd ever wear one of those uniforms. Deal. But when I win, youâre going to drop this whole cop thing and let me live my life."
"Fine," Don said, offering his hand. Logan shook it, determined to prove him wrong.
Four weeks later, Logan sat in the passenger seat of Donâs car, his arms crossed as they pulled into the police academy parking lot.
"Guess what?" Don said, his tone smug. "You didnât get a job, so now itâs time to face the music."
"This is stupid," Logan muttered. "I donât belong here."
"You belong somewhere, and right now, thatâs here," Don said firmly. "Who knows? Maybe youâll surprise yourself."
The academyâs orientation was every bit as rigid and overwhelming as Logan had feared. The other recruits were clean-cut, driven, and eager to prove themselves, while Logan stuck out like a sore thumb in his skinny jeans and rainbow wristband.
By mid-afternoon, the recruits were herded into a dimly lit auditorium. A commanding instructor addressed the room.
"Recruits," he began, "this is the beginning of your journey. The video youâre about to watch is a core part of your orientation. Itâs called Red Wave Rapture, and it will help you understand what it means to be one of us."
Logan stifled a groan as the lights dimmed and the projector flickered to life.
The video began innocuously enoughâmajestic images of American landscapes, stirring orchestral music, and a deep, commanding narratorâs voice.
"Strength. Honor. Duty," the voice intoned. "These are the values that define us as officers. These are the pillars upon which our nation stands."
Logan smirked at the blatant patriotism but found himself strangely unable to look away. The imagery shifted to officers walking proudly through their communities, citizens cheering them on.
The narratorâs voice seemed to grow louder, more insistent. "You were born for this. To protect. To serve. To stand as a beacon of integrity and strength in a world that needs heroes."
Loganâs smirk faltered. A strange warmth spread through his chest, and his breathing slowed as the words seemed to penetrate his mind.
"Let go of doubt," the voice continued. "Let go of weakness. Embrace your destiny."
Loganâs gaze fixed on the screen as the images and words washed over him. The rainbow wristband on his arm caught his eye, and for the first time, it felt out of place.
"You are no longer an individual," the narrator declared. "You are part of the Red Wave, united by duty and honor."
Logan felt a strange, undeniable pull, as though the words were reshaping him from the inside out.
The images on the screen shifted to young recruits stepping into their uniforms, their expressions proud and confident. Logan could almost see himself in their place, wearing the uniform, standing tall, and exuding pride.
"Rise," the narrator commanded. "Rise and become who you were always meant to be."
Loganâs body tensed as a surge of energy coursed through him. His thoughts swirled, and his resistance crumbled under the relentless rhythm of the narratorâs voice.
When the lights came back on, Logan blinked, disoriented. He glanced down at his wristband, removed it without a second thought, and slipped it into his pocket.
By the end of the day, Logan had changed in ways that startled even him. He volunteered for every exercise, pushed himself harder than he ever thought possible, and began forming bonds with his fellow recruits.
That evening, Don met him at home with a curious look.
"How was your first day?" Don asked, sipping his coffee.
Loganâs posture was straighter, his expression more serious. "It was... eye-opening. I think I was wrong about this place. Itâs exactly what I needed."
Don raised an eyebrow, pleasantly surprised. "Well, Iâll be damned. Maybe thereâs hope for you after all."
Logan hesitated, then added, "And, uh... about the other stuff. You were right about that, too. It doesnât really fit who Iâm becoming." He took his rainbow wristband and threw it in the trashcan.
Donâs face broke into a grin. "Now thatâs what I like to hear."
Over the following weeks, Loganâs transformation continued. He excelled in his training, adopted a clean-cut appearance, and fully embraced the academyâs values. His once vibrant and outspoken personality gave way to a disciplined, no-nonsense demeanor.
More than that, his priorities had shifted entirely. He no longer identified with his old self, instead finding pride and purpose in his role as a recruit. His previous liberal and rebellious views seemed laughable now, relics of a misguided youth.
Graduation day arrived quickly, and Logan stood tall in his new uniform, his badge gleaming on his chest. Don stood in the audience, beaming with pride.
After the ceremony, Don pulled him aside.
"Look at you," he said, shaking his head in amazement. "Youâre everything I hoped youâd become."
Logan smiled, his stance confident and assured. "Thanks, Uncle Don. I couldnât have done it without you."
"And I wouldnât want it any other way," Don replied, clapping him on the shoulder.
Logan posed for a photo in front of a big American flag, standing proudly in his uniform. As Don looked at the image, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
His nephew was no longer the aimless, defiant gay boy he had taken in. He was now a man of discipline, duty, and conservatismâa man Don could be proud to call family.
And for Logan, the uniform didnât just represent his new role. It represented his transformation, a testament to the strength and pride he had discovered within himself.

Pieces of media my mom has seen and the popular MLM ships in them that she doesn't think are gay:
MCU - Stucky (note that she does get a kick out of Stony stuff and she believes wholeheartedly that those two hate fucked in a not-filmed scene of Avengers 2012 so this is not about her thinking "oh Captain America is so straight-laced because he's the ideal American man" or anything)
MCU - Poolverine (she's fully aware and accepting of the fact that both Logan and Wade are canonically queer characters but she thinks all the flirting Wade did with Logan in the newest movie didn't necessarily mean anything because "he talks like that to everyone". Side note though: while she believes Wade should be with Vanessa, she does think that Logan can and should shoot his shot with Wade after Vanessa inevitably dies since he and Wade are both immortal. It's just that she thinks Wade should get his happy ending with Vanessa first.)
MCU - Lokius ("Mama have you ever seen a man fix another man's tie like that" "No but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen! I wouldn't know though; it's been like 15 years since I worked a corporate job.")
Sonyverse/Marvel - Symbrock ("They literally have a symbiotic relationship. That doesn't make them gay." So I showed her the comics where Eddie calls Venom "love" and gives birth to Venom's babies and she said "Fine you win but please never show me alien man birth ever again."
Supernatural - Destiel ("They're like Steve and Bucky! They're brothers in arms! They've been through hell and back together!" Note that she only watched through season 5 but she does know about a lot of their later interactions because I told her about them)
House M.D. - Hilson ("Dot I watched that whole show and they were never anything more than good friends" "What about when House admitted to thinking about Wilson during sex? What about that whole episode where they pretended to be gay for each other to prove a point to a neighbor and Wilson proposed? What about that whole episode where Wilson had to furnish the apartment and House told him not to let a woman tell him what to do but Wilson let House tell him what to do? What about the whole ending?" "Why can't two men just be close enough friends to joke about that stuff with each other?"
Real life - Me and my best friend of the same gender orientation who I've kissed multiple times and have had a requited crush on for years that neither of us have ever persued for logistical reasons (I literally used me and this friend to try and prove my mom wrong about Stucky and Destiel. I asked her if she thought me and this friend were like brothers and she said yes with a straight face)
Sherlock - Johnlock (to be fair this is the BBC ship name, but she doesn't think any iteration of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are the slightest bit gay. "They're business partners and roommates.")
Our Flag Means Death - BlackHands (Should go ahead and say that I'm not really a BlackHands shipper myself; we both really enjoyed Stede and Ed's romance in the show. BUT it takes so much away from Izzy's character and his development if you don't acknowledge that he was jealous of Stede and in love with Ed, at least a little. My mom thought Izzy was just an extremely loyal first mate.)
Also, for the record, I'm not trying to call my mom out as homophobic. I'm queer and so are two of my siblings and she's very supportive of us. There are gay romcoms she enjoys like Our Flag Means Death and Red, White, and Royal Blue. The reason I'm making this list is because I think it's really funny how she doesn't understand the concept of queerbaiting (not that all of the above listed ships are queerbaiting). She thinks things are either explicitly straight or explicitly queer (whether it's gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc) and cannot comprehend the idea that some character relationships are deliberately pushing the boundaries of straight friendships into queer relationships to get more minority viewers and I think her explanations are funny.
#she definitely understands what shipping is though#she literally has shown me nine x rose fics and storm x wolverine fics she wrote back in the early 2000s#lmfao#dot says#stucky#lokius#poolverine#symbrock#destiel#hilson#johnlock#blackhands

⌠if you want to read my essay on how gay Nick Carraway is itâs under the cut
Until recent years, very few authors had the courage to express homosexuality in their work for fear of institutional punishment or negative social reaction. With stories like that of Oscar Wilde, writers were accurately terrified to explicitly explore the diversity of the sexual and romantic interests of their characters. Despite this, they were not stopped and authors chose to implement their gay characters with artistic subtlety. F. Scott Fitzgerald's most well known novel, The Great Gatsby, homes one example of this type of character. Although he does not live in a time period where he can be open about it, Nick Carraway is a homosexual man and this fact is crucial to truly understanding his self and his relationship with Jay Gatsby.
Perhaps the most damning evidence of Nick's sexuality is the fact that the only sexual encounter he is implied to have had is with Chester McKee after the party in New York (28), but it is not all. Nick's homosexuality is most casually clear in the descriptions he gives of the people in his life. Although he does acknowledge past romantic relations with women, he does not read as particularly interested in them. When questioned about a rumoured fiancĂŠe out West, Nick remarks that he is very opposed to "being rumored into marriage," (15) and in his first meeting with his supposed love interest, Jordan Baker, Nick compares her to a cadet (an exclusively male occupation at the time) and points out her most masculine features as ideal including her small breasts and erect carriage (8). In comparison, Nick's descriptions of the men around him are rich with intrigue; Nick notices how Tom Buchanan's eyes establish dominance in his face and the way his muscles move under his clothing (5). When Nick speaks about the train conductor on the hottest day of the summer, he critiques people who think of kissing flushed lips and laying with a partner in the heat despite no one else in that scene expressing those feelings (87). The suddenness of this flustered complaint implies that Nick is reacting to his own desires; desires he wishes he did not have.
While Nick is at least vaguely attracted to multiple men in his story, there is one he is consistently interested in throughout: Jay Gatsby. From their first meeting where Nick goes on about how pleasant a smile Gatsby has (36) onwards, Nick is very fond of Gatsby, going so far as to emphasise that he is the only rich person he did not end up disgusted by (2) and that all of the East was haunted for him after Gatsby's death (137). In Gatsby's life, Nick even expressed his affections to him in whatever ways he could. For example, when Nick agrees to reintroduce Gatsby and Daisy, he does not allow Gatsby to reimburse the favour (62). Also, after Myrtle's death, Nick only leaves Gatsby's side because he feels like he is intruding (112), returns to a bed he can not fall asleep in, and takes the first opportunity available to meet Gatsby again at dawn (113). Nick listens to Gatsby's story then (114), something nobody else would do in favour of spreading scandalous, borderline slanderous rumours.
Nick claims he is not a judgemental person, but proves himself wrong as the novel progresses in regards to every person he has met but one. Despite remarking that he disapproved of Gatsby "from beginning to end" (118), he was equally endeared to him. Nick also claims to be an honest person (44), which he proves not entirely true either. Realising Nick's true feelings for Gatsby reveals the intricacy of his character and calls into question the reliability of his narration. Although his intentions are always sympathetic, Gatsby is by trade a bootlegging criminal and yet even after meeting Meyer Wolfsheim and being told about his business (54), Nick plays ignorant about Gatsby's involvement. To Nick, the idea of Jay Gatsby is related only tertiarily to the idea of "Wolfsheim's men". Nick makes this clear every time he visits Gatsby after Wolfsheim's men begin working at his house by how suspicious he always is of them, even describing one's face as âvillainous" (86). Nick does not judge Gatsby as the same as these people nor the Buchanans despite not being so different in truth because he is already in love with him and truly wants to believe he is a good person at heart. Even Tom Buchanan is aware of this on some level, showing his cognisance after Gatsby's death by telling Nick that "(Gatsby) threw dust into (Nick's) eyes just like he did in Daisy's" (138).
To ignore Nick's sexuality is to intentionally misunderstand his character and The Great Gatsby as a story. On his surface, Nick Carraway is a single objective voice in a world of desires and deceit, but as much of The Great Gatsby does, his character requires the reader to look below to his own human biases if they intend to comprehend him.

Die With A Smile: A Sonadow Oneshot
Notes: My friend challenged me to write Sonadow karaoke. This is the result. Very crackhead. Much gay.
Summary: Shadow loses a bet with Rouge and has to attend a karaoke party. Shenanigans ensue.
Rating: T for language
Start:
Shadow has got to stop placing bets with Rouge.
Itâs his own fault, really. His ego is too big, and his need to prove himself as the Ultimate Lifeform in every possible way is far too strong. Rouge? Rouge knows this and takes advantage. Every. Time.
And as it has been many times before, her cons came in the form of a bet.
Walking over with a towel, she fiddled with it in her hands as she spoke, âSo you coming to Amyâs Karaoke Spectacular??â
âIâve already answered this. Seven times,â Shadow grumbles as he washes dishes, passing one off to Rouge to dry. This is their routine. Theyâve been roommates for a little over eight months now, and the deal is whoever doesnât cook has to wash the dishes. Tonight, thatâs Shadow.
Rouge gives him a little pout, placing the dried dish on the rack and waiting for the next one, âAw come on, Shadow.. Not even for me?â
âWhy on earth would that make a difference?â Shadow questions with a quirk of his brow and teasing little smirk.
Rouge rolls her eyes at him with a huff, âOkay then. What if I said âpretty pleaseâ??â
âThe physical appearance of the please doesnât matter,â Shadow says unbothered, handing the next dish to her as he then begins scrubbing at the pan the chopped potatoes had cooked on, âAnd begging doesnât suit you..â
âHmph,â she growls a bit, placing her hands on her hips a moment before then growing a slow smirk, âWhat if we made a bet??â
Shadowâs ear twitches at that, looking at her out of the corners of his eyes a moment. She has that mischievous glint in them. He knew it was trouble, and still he-
âIâm listening..â
Rouge moves the pan Shadow is working on out of the sink, Shadowâs brows furrowing questioningly as he watches her instead place the towel sheâs been holding in his hands.
âHereâs the bet. I lose, Iâll cook and wash the dishes for three months.â
Shadowâs brow raises at her, looking at the towel in his hands a moment before back to her, âAnd if I lose I have to come to the karaoke spectacular??â
âAND sing a song of my choice,â Rouge adds with a wicked grin.
Shadow is immediately handing the towel back to her and shaking his head, âAbsolutely not.â
âOh whatâs wrong??? Got a case of the stage fright??â
âNo. I just refuse to lower myself to such insolent and ridiculous standards as singing cheesy songs that no one asked anyone to cover,â Shadowâs arms cross.
Rouge shrugs, âFine. Guess I just didnât expect the Ultimate Lifeform to back down from a challenge so easily.â
Shadowâs eyes narrow at her with a scowl.
Rougeâs narrow with a challenge.
â...We have a deal?â She asks, reaching her hand out to him with a knowing grin.
Shadow growls a bit, already mentally scolding himself for falling for this shit again. But he still finds his hand reaching out to shake hers, nodding with a firm, âDeal.â
Rouge giggles a bit giddily, âGreat!â
âSo whatâs the challenge?â Shadow questions as he retracts his hand, realizing now he probably shouldâve asked that before making this bet.
Rouge hands the towel back to him again, Shadow watching as she moves his hands into position under the tap of the sink. Shadow holds an end of the dish towel in each hand, arms outstretched and spread as wide as the towel goes. Rouge then reaches to turn on the water, the tap flowing in the space between his arms, himself and the towel.
She crosses her arms then, nodding her head to him with a simple, âMove the towel without letting go of either end or getting it or your arms wet. And NO chaos control.â
Shadowâs brow raises at her. Crimson eyes roll at this, smirking confidently with a scoff, âThatâs it?? I expected more from you-â
He looks back down at the towel and his brain freezes.
He stares at it a long moment, the gears in his head practically groaning and creaking with how he tries to find the solution. He could move it to the left, but then his right arm would get wet. Same with the right getting the left wet. He canât simply move it towards him because then itâs wet. His brain begins to hurt. Rouge canât help but let her grin widen as he successfully allows himself to get overwhelmed and overthink the entire puzzle.
His teeth grit, growling low as his body starts to tremble.
Rouge just leans against the counter and waits, examining her nails as if she has all the time in the world.
They stay like that for a solid sixteen minutes, which is terrible for the environment to let the water run that long. And then Shadow groans and growls out, âI canât! I donât get it! What the hell am I supposed to do!? Tell me!! Tell me or Iâm gonna destroy this damn sink and rip the towel to shredsâ!â
Rouge simply takes the towel from him, moving her arms into position while holding the towel. She then moves her hand while still holding the towel to simply turn off the water, successfully retracting the towel back to her body without getting it or her arms wet.
Shadow just stares dumbfounded and feeling smaller than a pathetic worm.
âBut you canât justâ youâ thatâsââ
âSee you at karaoke~,â She coos as she playfully rolls the towel up to whip and snap his tail, making him jump about two feet with a yelp.
And thatâs how he ended up here. Standing outside Amy Roseâs front door with nothing but shame for whatâs going to happen tonight. He can hear music coming from the backyard, what sounds like an agitating rendition of âWe Built This City On Rock and Rollâ being sung.
He could run. He could chaos control somewhere far away, and no one could ever force him to socialize or sing or any of it.
But he canât.
He made a bet and promised Rouge heâd come.
And he always keeps his promises.
Taking a deep breath, Shadow collects his dignity while he still has it and lifts his hand to ring the white doorbell next to the pink door.
Breathing out the breath he had just taken slowly, he hears footsteps approaching from the inside.
The door opens to reveal Amy standing there with a wide grin that only seems to get brighter the second she sees itâs Shadow who had rang the doorbell.
âShadow!â she beams, her voice reaching octaves that shouldnât be possible for most Mobians. Heâs always like Amy, though, so he tries not to seem too agitated by this.
He offers a tired sort of smile in return, not quite reaching his eyes but still trying to be in good spirits for his hostâs sake, âHello, Rose.â
Amy quickly reaches to grab his wrist, dragging him inside and shutting the door behind him, âCome in! Itâs chilly out there..â
âIsnât the party outside??â Shadow asks with a quirk of his brow. Amy giggles in response with a sheepish, âWell, yes, but we have a bonfire going and everyone is toasting marshmallows and hotdogs and thereâs a chili bar with hot cocoaâ I even made some coffee in case you showed up!â
Shadow hums with a soft look to his eyes at her thoughtfulness. âThat was kind of you.â
âIâm so glad you came!â Amy grins, bouncing on her toes as she leads Shadow to the kitchen where Cream and Miss Vanilla are helping her whip up some more chili since theyâre running low outside, âRouge has been saying youâd be here, but I honestly was doubting her.â
Before Shadow can respond, another squeaky voiced girl is wrapping her arms tight around his torso and squeezing for dear life, âMr. Shadow! Iâm so glad youâre here!â
Shadow looks down at the rabbit hugging him, chuckling a bit as his hand rests between her ears and pets there tenderly, âNice to see you too, Miss Cream..â
Cream giggles at how he addresses her formerly, looking up at him with those big, starry eyes he canât help but have a soft spot for, âMiss Rouge said you were coming, but I wasnât sure she was being honest.â
âWhy would Rouge lie, Creamy Dear?â Miss Vanilla says as she approaches, âHello again, Shadow.â
âMiss Vanilla,â Shadow nods to her politely before looking back to Cream, âUnfortunate for all of us, Rouge is right most of the time.â
Cream giggles at this, letting go of Shadow and moving to tug on his hand, âCome with me, Mr. Shadow! I have a free seat next to me just for you!â
Shadow smirks a bit and allows himself to be towed behind the little one towards the backyardâs door, giving a small wave to Amy and Vanilla as they stay back in the kitchen.
Maybe this wouldnât be so terrible.. Shadow does enjoy seeing Cream. She reminds him so much of the time he spent on the ARK taking care of Maria.. That and the little rabbit has never once looked at him with any sort of judgment or fear in her eyes. She always looked at him as though he had all the potential in the world to be nothing but good. And he couldnât ever say why that meant so much to him, but it did.
If Cream ever looked at him with disappointment, heâd lose his mind.
Upon entering the backyard, he looks around at the decorations. Amy really is the best host for gatherings. She never misses, always hits the nail on the head perfectly and seems to enjoy seeing everyone have fun and appreciate her hard work.
The yard has fairy lights dangling all around, circling a bonfire in the middle that is in the center of a stone firepit. Thereâs wooden seats around the firepit for those who get a bit chilly, though most are empty currently. Only Espio sits there, not seeming too keen on the cold weather. Thereâs a coat rack just to the right of the door with complimentary, hand-knitted gloves, hats and scarves. Next to it along the porch is the coffee, hot cocoa and chili bar Amy had spoken of along with a little basket with long, metal skewers sticking out of it and a chalkboard dangling from the front that reads âFor your Hot Dogs and Marshmallowsâ. There were hot dogs and marshmallows stacked into little pyramids on a table, ready to roast. Amy even had a vegan option..
To the far left is a stage pressed against the wood fence surrounding the yard, white curtains providing a backdrop behind it and spotlights hanging from the bottom of the stage to provide good lighting.
On the stage bouncing far too energetically up and down was none other than the dynamic duo themselves: Sonic and Tails.
Sonic is jamming on his electric guitar he seems to have brought for himself and Tails is singing next to him with laughter in his voice. Sonic is banging his head so aggressively that Shadow wonders if heâll still have all his quills by the end of the night.
Rolling his eyes at the ridiculous display, Shadow looks back down to Cream who leads him to the coat rack.
The rabbit lets go of his hand to ponder the choices of winter weather clothes for a moment before she reaches and pulls off a deep blue scarf, turning to him and holding it out for him to take, âI think this one will look nicely with your eyes!â
Shadow looks at the scarf as he takes it into his hands, observing it a moment. Amy really outdid herself making all these for everyone.
He canât help but look at it and think ofâ
âThank you,â he says with a gentle smile at the little girl, wrapping it around his shoulders and then tying it secure but comfortable around his neck, âI like your light blue one.â
Cream giggles at this, beaming at him as she rocks back and forth on her toes, âWe kind of match!â
âI believe we do,â he says with a wink, offering his hand to her again which she takes with pride.
Walking them towards the stage, Cream Explains her seat is in the front row. She likely chose this spot due to her short size, but Shadow really dreaded being near the front like this..
As they approached the stage, Shadow took notice in who all was there.
Vector was DJ-ing, of course. Charmy was sitting on a speaker near him, watching Vectorâs hands move over the sound system as if he was taking notes. Rouge had Knuckles cornered near the back of the seats, leaning towards him a little too close for Knucklesâ comfort if how red his face was was anything to go off of. Omega was stood behind them, seemingly ignoring them with his robotic eyes locked towards the stage. Sticks the Badger was there. She was a relatively new member of the group that Amy had apparently taken quite the liking to. And Shadow trusted Roseâs judgment.
Big the Cat was sitting in the front swaying side to side in his seat with his frog in his hand as if this was a slow song, not at all matching the upbeat momentum of it. Even Silver and Blaze were there, to Shadowâs surprise. Itâs not every day one should break the time stream just to come to a party.
He doesnât dwell on this, though. Moving with Cream towards the front to find his seat just as Sonic and Tails finish up their number. The group hoot and holler for the two, applauding as Sonic gives a dramatic bow and Tails sheepishly grins and rubs the back of his neck. They exit the stage and Vector announces the next song,
âAlright everyone! That was a pretty sweet song, gonna be tough to follow up with that! Next on the song list is another duet! âClub Canât Handle Meâ by Flo Rida! Letâs see who our duetists are!â
Shadowâs eyes watch Sonic as he walks off the steps to the right of the stage, high-fiving Tails as they go. Theyâre both laughing and saying something to each other that Shadow canât make out, but itâs probably dumb anyway.
Sonicâs whole voice is dumb. And his dumb face and his dumb smile and dumb eyesâ
Heâs looking at Shadow.
Shadow quickly looks away, feeling his cheeks heat up a bit as he dips his head down in hopes his scarf will mask it some. Was he staring?? No, he wasnât- he just got lost in his thoughts of how dumb that faker is..
His eyes are on the ground as Vector pulls two random names from a hat and announces it will be Blaze and Big performing this next song.
âWoo! Everyoneâs favorite purple felines teaming up for the win!â Sonic yells supportively, Shadow flinching slightly at how close he sounds.
Oh.
Thatâs because heâs close.
Bright red, signature shoes appear in his line of sight, crimson eyes trailing up Sonicâs form to find emerald looking right back.
Sonic smirks. Shadow scowls.
âWell looky here. Didnât expect to see you here, Shadow!â the blue hedgehog beams, wearing a red scarf that matches his shoes. His has a tiny âSâ on the end of it, Shadow notices. Amy mustâve made one especially for him.
âI try not to make a habit of social gatherings,â Shadow gruffly replies, looking away as if to take in the event except itâs really just to escape that gaze..
Sonic chuckles at that, hands moving to his own hips as he speaks, âWell, maybe you should..â
Shadowâs eyes return to him at that, eyeing the blue hedgehog questioningly which seems to make Sonic blush a bit as he quickly gestures to Cream.
âLooks like youâd make a certain little rabbit real happy if you came around more.â
Cream beams at that, standing on her chair to try and be as tall as Sonic, âI would be, Mr. Sonic!â
âSee??â Sonic grins, looking at Cream now, âWho could say no to that face???â
Cream giggles, bouncing on her toes to which Sonic reaches over and picks her up to toss her up then set her back down as she laughs excitedly. He bends down as she speaks to him.
âCan I make you a âlittle-bit-of-everythingâ chili dog, Mister Sonic?!â
Sonic winks at this, giving her a thumbs up, âYou make the best ones, Cream.â
She nods with a determined face, dashing off to the chili dog stand as if sheâs on a mission.
Sonic watches her with a chuckle, rubbing under his nose as Shadow looks at him..
Sonic looks at Shadow.
Shadow looks away.
Sonic smiles a bit at this, moving to take a seat next to Shadow as Blaze and Big start their performance. Itâs quite a comical one. Blazeâs raspy and shier voice paired with Bigâs own off beat and tonedeaf one. She definitely looks uncomfortable but Silver is giving her thumbs up in the audience so that seems to motivate her.
âSo what made you come?â Sonic asks after a moment, looking at Shadow with a tilt of his head.
âRouge,â he mutters, looking over at the bat who is still pestering that poor echidna, âLost a bet.â
âAh,â Sonic immediately answers with a grin, âSheâs a trickster for sure.â
âMm..,â Shadow nods in agreement, his arms crossed over his chest.
Thereâs a long moment of silence.
ââŚSo how have youââ
âIâm getting coffee,â Shadow interrupts, standing from his seat and leaving Sonic behind. Sonicâs ears droop a bit, watching Shadow go with a quiet, âOh. Okay. See ya.â
Shadow walks quickly towards the coffee bar, grabbing a cup once he gets there and working to fill it up with his heart pounding in his chest.
Anxiety is a bitch.
He takes a long shaky breath as he pours the drink, watching the steam rise from it. Black. Just how he likes it.
He cups it in his hands and blows on the top before taking a sip and immediately feeling his shoulders slouch and some tension fade. His sighs slow and takes another sip, swallowing down the lump that felt like it had been forming in his throat.
He hated he got like this. It always made him feel so weak. He didnât do well in groups.. he always felt out of place or like he has nothing to contribute to conversation.
And that hedgehog⌠that damn blue hedgehog.
Sonic always seemed to make Shadow lock up even more than usual. Made him feel like his defenses were both down and up all at the same time. Like his walls were crackling apart and thus making Shadow panic to rush to build them higher and stronger.
He thought it would get better with time, but instead, it just seems to get worse.
He does fine on assignments or missions with Sonic, whenever theyâre required to work together for the greater good. Itâs easy to speak to him then. They work well side by side, a power that canât be beat. But in casual conversation??? Sonic is.. intimidating.
Heâs so quick witted and talkative. He always knows what to say and how to say it. Shadow admires this and hate it about him. Itâs overwhelming.
Just like his dumb face.
After a moment to gather himself, Shadow moves to instead approach Rouge who sees him coming and snaps up with a grin, âYou came!â
âIâve been here,â he grumbles with a roll of his eyes, noticing how Knuckles seems relieved her attention is elsewhere.
Shadow canât help but wonder if Knuckles feels the same way about Rouge as Shadow does about Sonic. Two painfully charismatic people talking to two painfully awkward people.
Except with Knuckles and Rouge, itâs flirting and bickering.
Thatâs not what Sonic and Shadow do.
Well.
They bicker.
And Sonic might be naturally flirtatious now and then.
But itâs not the same.
âOh. Sorry, Iâve been busy with Knuckles here,â she smirks, gesturing to Knuckles who offers a small âsupâ to Shadow, Shadow nodding back before returning his gaze to Rouge.
âHow long do I have to stay??â
Rouge blinks, âButâ you just got here?â
âIâve been here for about ten minutes, actually. And thatâs plenty long, I think.â
âDonât be dramatic,â she rolls her eyes at him, placing a hand on her hip as she juts it out all sassy-like, âBesides, you still have to sing your one song.â
Shadow had been hoping sheâd forgotten about that.
âThen can we just get it over with so I can leave??â
âNo way!â Rouge huffs, poking his chest with a finger as she narrows her eyes at him disappointedly, âYou are going to stay here and socialize and be happy about it! And when I decide you can sing and leave, youâll sing and leave.â
She crosses her arms, sticking her nose up a matter-of-factly as she closes her eyes with a âhmph.â
Shadow blinks.
He looks at Knuckles for help.
Knuckles just shrugs at him, âShe scares me too, dude.â
âWhat did you say?!â Rouge glares down at the echidna who flinches immediately with a âNothing!â
âOh Iâm scary, huh??? You know whatâs scary is an echidna whose only friend is a rock!â
âOh yeah?! Wellââ
Shadow leaves before he gets a headache.
He looks at the spot near the front that Cream has saved for him.
Sonic is still sitting there eating his chili dog and talking to Cream and Tails and now Amy as well..
He turns on his heel and makes his way to the bonfire where Espio sits alone. At least he can depend on Espio to not try and spark a conversation with him.
He sits in one of the wooden chairs, leaning back in it with a sigh as he sips his coffee.
Espio, in fact, does not try to talk to him. He keeps his eyes shut in silence a few seats away from Shadow. Honestly, Shadow thinks he might be asleep.
His eyes flutter shut, holding his coffee in his lap as he sighs and lets the karaoke going on fade to the background.
He surely wonât actually be able to sleep Like Espio. Heâs use to silence in his slumber. White noise. Like when he was in the tank on the ARK..
But he might be able to look enough like heâs sleeping that no one will disturb him.
He stays like this a long time.. at least three or four songs are performed as he sits there unbothered.
âDonât Go Breaking My Heartâ performed by Silver and Cream.
âFireworkâ performed by Amy.
And âAnything You Can Do, I Can Do Betterâ very ironically performed by Rouge and Knuckles.
The next performance is Tails singing âCount On Meâ when Shadow hears footsteps approaching.
He doesnât open his eyes, hoping whomever it is will take the hint and leave him be.
His ear twitches at the sound of the wooden chair next to him creaking with someone being seated in it. The person takes a breath as if theyâre gonna speak and then stops.
Shadow expects them to get up and leave.
Instead he hears some fidgeting and movement. And then he hears the quiet sound of guitar strings..
His eyes slide open just slightly to peer over and see Sonic sitting there with his guitar in hand picking a quiet and relaxing melody..
Itâs⌠odd to see.
Sonic who is chaotic and fiery and adventurous and always loud and obnoxious and canât sit still..
now sits there picking one of the softest and quietest melodies heâs ever heard.
And he looks content while doing so. His face is soft with a smile on his muzzle, humming quietly as he plays. Like a lullaby.
Shadow watches him a long moment.. and then his eyes drift over to the fire. He watches it burn as Sonic plays, finding himself almost hypnotized by the moment. The calm of it. The warmth and the lull of the melody..
He sips his coffee. Sonic doesnât bother him.
Itâs nice. Shadow wasnât even aware Sonic played guitar before tonight, if heâs honest. He never thought the hedgehog could even sit still long enough to learn such a thing.
And without much thought, he voices this, âI didnât know you played.â
The strumming stops a moment, Shadow seeing Sonicâs head lift out of his peripherals to look at him. Sonic starts playing again and shrugs as he does so, âYeah, I have since I was a kid. Use to be in a band, believe it or not.â
âI shockingly can believe that,â Shadow says with a small quirk of his brow, eyeing Sonic as he sips his coffee to which Sonic chuckles at in response.
âI donât play a lot anymore. Only when I need to clear my head some or am at events like this. Sometimes both..â
Shadow turns his head a bit more towards Sonic at that, eyeing him a moment as Sonicâs own gaze returns down to watching his own fingers move.
ââŚHas something been on your mind?â
Why is he asking that??? Itâs not his business and he doesnât careâ
âMm..,â Sonic shrugs, âJust been having trouble sleepinâ..â
Shadow hums at that, âCanât say I relate fully. As the Ultimate Lifeform, I donât require sleep.â
Sonicâs head lifts a bit at that, looking at Shadow with a slight tilt of his head, âSeriously??â
âMm,â Shadow nods.
âThen what do you do most nights??â Sonic asks curiously, his picking on his guitar never stopping.
âIt varies..,â Shadow says, not planning to elaborate but seeing how Sonic is leaning in tentatively, he keeps going, âSometimes I read. Sometimes I do research for work.. sometimes I watch the stars or go for a run.â
Sonic smiles a bit at that, seeming to relate to that, âSo you never sleep at all??â
âWell.. occasionally. For the sake of the pastime. Or for the sake of simply resting for a bit.. shutting down and not having to think for a period of time can be therapeutic.â
âI canât imagine not sleeping,â Sonic says with a chuckle, âIâm a professional sleeper, Iâll have you know.â
âWell what kind of professional sleeper has trouble sleeping?â
Sonicâs cocky demeanor falters at that, looking at Shadow with a faded smirk before he looks back down to his guitar and mutters, âIâve been having nightmares is all.. theyâll go away, though, and when they do, Iâll be a shooinâ for the Snooze-lympics.â
Shadow watches the blue hedgehog deliver the joke with a little grin, but he sees how it doesnât meet his eyes..
He knows about nightmares.. he has far too many of his own.
âDo.. you want to talk about it??â Shadow asks after a moment, holding his now nearly empty coffee in his hands as he shifts his body a bit more towards Sonic.
Sonic hums a bit, looking up from his guitar to the fire instead. He seems hesitant. Reluctant. Shadow wonât push him if he is made uncomfortable by the conversation. He shouldnât have asked in the first place, frankly.
ââŚYou know.. in all my years of heroing and what not, Iâve rarely not been able to save someone,â Sonic says after a long pause, Shadowâs brows furrowing a bit at the subject change but he doesnât interrupt.
â..So I guess when I fail, it would haunt me.. huh?â
Shadow purses his lips, not liking the way Sonic guilts himself but understanding the toll being a hero can take, âMakes sense..â
Sonic nods.
â..Itâs the same dream. Over and over. Reaching and not being able to grab it. Not being fast enough.â
Shadow feels a sense of uneasiness grow inside him, his heart starting to rise into his throat again. He grips his cup a bit tighter and raises it to sip to try and swallow the feeling back down.
âI watch it fall like a star.. out of my sight. I try to get to it, but itâs like I canât move. I feel so helpless..â
Shadow swallows the last of his coffee but keeps the cup to his lips, eyes staying on Sonic.
ââŚWhy didnât you let me save you, Shadow??â Sonicâs eyes lift to Shadowâs then and Shadow feels his chest hurt.
When did Sonic stop playing his guitar??
The only sound now is the crackling of the fire and the distant karaoke performance currently happening on stage.
Shadow doesnât answer. Just watches Sonic in a long moment of silence. Sonic doesnât push. He just waits, leaning his elbows against his guitar in his lap and chewing on the inside of his cheek.
The ebony hedgehog lowers his cup after a moment, clearing his throat before speaking at last, âI-⌠donât really remember much of that event.â
Sonic doesnât seem too convinced of his answer, so Shadow tries to add, âAfter the fall, I simply remember waking up and not knowing anything anymore.. Iâm not sure what was going through my headââ
âYou remember,â Sonic says. And thereâs such conviction in his voice that Shadowâs mouth immediately shuts. Their eyes stay locked as if a challenge.
Shadowâs crimson orbs glare for a moment longer before Shadow huffs and pushes himself to stand from his chair. Sonic watches with his ears sinking back a bit.
âIâm leaving. Tell Rose I appreciated the hospitality.â
Sonic stands then, moving his guitar out of his lap and setting it on the chair, âShadow, waitââ
âAlright! Next up is a special request from our belovedly devious Rouge the Bat!â Vector announces from the stage, Rouge standing beside him with a wicked little grin. Shadow is making his way to the door with Sonic not far behind him.
âOur two performers will be..,â Rouge whispers in Vectorâs ear and Vector seems a bit stunned, âSonic and Shadow???â
Thereâs immediate silence and whispers among the group, Shadowâs attention brought to the stage upon hearing his name and his eyes widening at realizing heâs being summoned.
Sonic too has paused, staring at the stage and then back to Shadow and then the stage again.
Shadow doesnât spare a glance to Sonic, defensively crossing his arms with a stubborn, âI was just leaving.â
âOhhh no you donât, Grumps,â Rouge immediately protests, leaping from the stage to glide over to Shadow and tug at his arm, âYou promised me a song of my choice. Itâs your turn to perform.â
âNow is not the time, Rouge,â Shadow growls under his breath to which she shrugs unbothered.
âNot my problem,â she pulls him to the stage and pushes him towards the steps, âNow knock âem dead, Shadow! Metaphorically, of course.â
Sonic has walked to the stage now as well, seeming very off-put by this but also seeming as though heâs resolute.
Shadow watches him approach the mic on the stage, refusing to join him as he stands at the bottom of the stairs. He looks out at the small intimate crowd staring at him expectedly and then back to Sonic and then to Rouge andâ
âFuck this-â he huffs before quickly making his way towards the exit again, Rouge standing from her seat to follow him.
âHey! Shadow, hold on a second!â
The music starts playing.. emerald eyes watching the black hedgehog making his escape. Sonic swallows hard, moving a hand to hold the mic as he keeps his gaze on Shadow.
A surprisingly angelic âooohâ coming from him as he warms up to the song. Shadowâs steps falter a bit at this, not expecting Sonic to actually perform. Rouge stops behind him, her attention turning back to Sonic again, and then Shadow who is now standing still with his hand on Amyâs backdoor..
âI.. I just woke up from a dream,â Sonic sings with a slight sway on his feet, trying to loosen up some but his eyes stay on Shadow, âWhere you and I had to say goodbye..â
Shadowâs brows knit a bit, turning to look towards the stage again and seeing Sonic standing there watching him.
âI donât know what it all means..,â Sonic sings with a small shrug, averting his eyes a bit shyly now as he continues, âBut since I survived, I realized..â
Shadow steps away from the door.
âWherever you go thatâs where I foooollow. Nobodyâs promised tomooooorrow.â
Sonicâs eyes shut as he grips the mic a bit tighter and gives his all, âSo Iâma love you every night like itâs the last night- like itâs the last night!â
Everyone watches as Shadow approaches the stage between the chairs, Sonic singing his heart out quite literally into the mic with an undeniable amount of emotion and earnest.
âIf the world was endinâ, Iâd wanna be next to youuuu! If the party was over, and our time on earth was throuuuuugh.â
Sonicâs eyes open again to look up at the stars now, reaching a hand out to them as if to grab, âIâd wanna hold you just for a while..,â his hand returns to his mic with shut eyes, âAnd diiiiiie with a smile!â
Everyone is in absolute awe of whatâs happening. Sonicâs voice demands attention and captures them with its feeling, but so does the fact it feels like a very intimate moment between Shadow and Sonic..
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be next,â Sonicâs eyes open again, âto you..â
Sonicâs eyes widen a bit when he looks for Shadow but doesnât see him, a quiet breath escaping him as he immediately backs from the mic and begins to leave the stage to the right to look for him whenâ
âOoooh lost..â
Sonicâs eyes widen as he spins on his heels to see Shadow has joined him from the left side of the stage and is now holding the second mic singing into it..
He seems shy.. quiet at first, but his voice is so.. enchanting. Smooth like silk and mesmerizing.
âLost in the words that we scream..,â Shadow sings with a knit to his brow, cheeks rosy as he glances to Sonic from the corners of his eyes, âI donât even wanna do this anymoooore.â
Sonic quickly moves to his mic and joins in to harmonize as they both sing.
ââCause you already know what you mean to me!â
âAnd our loveâs the only oneââ
âWorth fighting for..â
âCause wherever you go thatâs where Iââ Shadow turns towards Sonic then, point down at the ground as if to make a damn point and Sonic just smiles and steps towards him a bit.
ââFooooollow.â
âNobodyâs promisedââ
ââtomooooorrow.â
Shadow and Sonic are now gripping their mics tight, and itâs as if the rest of the world has faded away.. Shadowâs stage fright gone as it feels as though theyâre both confessing to one another right then and there.
âSo Iâma love you every night like itâs the last night! Like itâs the last night!â
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be next to youuuuu! If the party was over and our time on earth was throuuuuugh!â
Shadow gives an ever so small smile as he sings,
âIâd wanna hold you..â
Sonic harmonizing with him with a heart melting grin, âJust for a while..â
âAnd diiiiiie with a smile!!â
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be next to you..â
Sonic smiles as he steps closer to Shadow, âRight next to youu..â
âNext to youuu..,â Shadow coos with a slight tilt of his head, taking a tiny step closer as well.
âRight next to youuu..,â they harmonize, Sonicâs hand moving to touch Shadowâs only for Shadow to reach and place his hand on the small of Sonicâs back. Holding him there, he pulls him close so their chests bump together.
Sonic beams at this, face going red as he tosses his head back and lets out a howled, âOoh-Oh!â
And then Shadow is yanking Sonic in as the music reaches its climax, planting a hard and firm kiss on his lips to which the crowd of friends screams and cheers at excitedly. Whistles and applause but all of it is drainage in their ears as they share their kiss. Sonicâs free hand lifts to hold Shadowâs quills tight, fingers curling there as he holds himself to him and feels his heart soaring. Pieces of him mending that have been broken a long time..
Shadow feels whole in that moment. Complete. And not alone for the first time since he can remember..
Itâs euphoric. Itâs cheesy. Itâs straight out of some corny chick flic and neither of them give a damn.
They eventually part a bit reluctantly, Shadowâs eyes staying shut as his forehead presses to Sonicâs with quiet pants for air. Sonicâs eyes open all half-lidded and dopey as he lifts his mic in the small space between them to sing,
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be next to youuuu..â
Shadow smiles at him a bit dopey as well, opening his eyes as he lifts his hand to lock their arms and sing into his own mic, âIf the party was over and our time on earth was throuuuugh..â
âIâd wanna hold you..,â Shadowâs hand lifts to cup Sonicâs cheek, âJust for a while,â Sonicâs head tilts to nuzzle into his palm.
Both of them then tossing their heads back to sing with their whole chest, âAnd diiiiiie with a smile!â
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be nextââ
âTo youuuuuu!â
âIf the world was ending, Iâd wanna be next to you..â
Their foreheads touch again, noses nuzzling as they melt into one another.
âIâd wanna be next to you..â
Their eyes lock as the music fades, Sonicâs grin wider than ever and a soft little smile on Shadowâs own face..
He leans in to kiss him again only to be snapped out of his daze by the wolf whistling and applause their friends teasingly and knowingly give them.
A mix of âabout timeâs and âcongratulationsâ were shouted at them as Shadowâs cheeks heat up beet red,
He turns his head away from them towards the back of the stage, trying to hide from the group. Sonic chuckles at this and moves to crouch slightly and tilt his head up to put himself in Shadowâs line of sight.
His hand moves to squeeze Shadowâs. And Shadow smiles and squeezes it back.
âIn their defense,â Sonic teases with his thumb rubbing The back of Shadowâs hand, finally able to reach him..,
âThat was super gay.â
