i do not know who needs to hear this but if you or your family or a friend willing to lend a login has a costco subscription use it to buy movie tickets. it is the only way i can afford movie tickets and it has changed my life. you go through the costco website and you get 2 ticket codes plus a gift card to use for snacks and online service fees, for less than the price of what just 2 tickets might cost, especially if you live in an expensive city/are seeing a newer movie not at a discount theater/time. and u can use the gift card it gives you to buy ANOTHER ticket like for a friend or if you’re taking a kid with you. if you’re using it with AMC, it works on the AMC website not on their app, and you can even just bring the ticket vouchers and buy the tickets at the theater in person to save on service fees. if you wanna see like dolby or imax or 4dx you just pay a couple dollars extra. it’s not cheaper than a senior or child ticket usually, but for regular adult tickets this shit changes LIVES

I mean I get that’s it’s not the only contributing factor, but I’m curious exactly how much of the shelter dog over-population problem is actually due to poor dog ownership/management vs the housing crisis and economical stress. I’d be willing to bet by investing in social programs that give people the resources they need to care for their pets (cough cough affordable and free housing cough cough) that the amount of pets in shelters would dramatically drop. We can all sit here pointing fingers and screaming at each other until we are blue in the face, but if the owners basic needs are not being met, how can we hold them to a basic standard for their pets?

The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. Katara had her Oh moment before exchanging a word with Jian Li, and while she gets over it in time (or, at least, convinces herself that she's not embarrassed by her initial reaction to him) this quasi-interaction haunts her for the first couple of days of their stay in Kyoshi Island.

It's just not fair that the place is full of gorgeous people! Or that he's not only beautiful, but also kind and awkward and respectful and dorky and—oh, La—she's in trouble.
