to put this in context, I have an aunt who deals in non-verbal autistic (or other non-verbal) children to help with integration and dealing with normal society. I had to live with her for a year. She decided based on some of my behaviours (being a teen suddenly dumped on my aunt) that I must be autistic too. She bypassed me and told my mother.

on my next visit to my mother, she took me out for a lovely lunch, then approached it as "we think you have a problem"

It was kind of humiliating and angering. It was like she felt I was deliberately "being autistic" to make life more difficult, as opposed to being dumped in a drastically weird situation without any reason that made sense to me, and being treated as a troublemaker.

It hurt. it still hurts. I haven't forgiven that aunt, and I lost basically all my respect for my mother (which has never been regained). I know I have several behaviours looking into it on my own, but the idea that both adults treated me like I was now a non-functional person, vs the human who had managed to rig up the majority of electronics in her life, had been looking after herself for the last 5 years because of parents who always worked late. A child who since 10 years old had been walking alone at night to school events.

Mum now at least seems to at least understand that sometimes I will hate things because of sensory issues... but god damn.

if you're designing a security system and your backup security questions don't allow me to type in a custom request to my future self I hate you personally.

I can't remember the exact way I typed out the name of the street I grew up on or my primary school even though I know the answers to those questions so I'm locked out of my fucking workforce australia account and have to either delete my account and relink everything or wait two hours and try to do this again with every possible way of typing out these two simple facts I know about myself.

my monthly jobsearch requirements are a part of being too disabled to be employed but not disabled enough to get on disability benefits and it's a cross I don't mind bearing or whatever but I hate when the systems fuck me over and I get no leniency for it.
