the worst parent poll made me realize just how many ppl in the fandom are willing to jump straight into abuse apologia. bc on one hand you have ppl dumbing down crow's abuse to "him just being mean" and on the other end you have ppl saying that curlfeather didnt abuse frostpaw because she sacrificed herself and frost + her siblings love her so she couldnt possibly be an abuser. truly mindboggling stuff take these serious topics away from the fandom asap.
Part of me feels like it's because many in this fandom have a feeling that if a character's actions are abusive, it means you're "not allowed" to like them. Like there's an impulse where if you liked a character, it MUST mean they weren't THAT bad, because you'd personally never like "an abuser."
As if it reflects poorly on your own morality, as a person, that you connected with An Abuser. Understood them, even. Even if it was just a character.
If it's immoral to Like Abusive Characters, of course your reaction is going to end up being abuse apologia. To enjoy something isn't logical, it's emotional, so you will get defensive about it when questioned. When you do, it's not going to be based on logic because you didn't reason yourself into that position in the first place. It's an attack on you as a person.
I feel like that's often the root of abuse apologia in this fandom, and sometimes the world at large; "If I admit that this character/person IS abusive, it means I was doing something bad by liking them, so I have to prove to everyone else that they weren't or it means I'm bad too."
And to that I say... That's a BAD impulse! Grow up and admit you resonated with a character that did a bad thing! If that's an uncomfortable thought, sit with it!
Sometimes abusers are likeable! They usually DO think they're justified in their actions, or doing it for "a good reason," or were just too preoccupied to care. MOST of the time, people who commit abusive actions are also hurt or traumatized in some way. You might even empathize with them. None of this means their actions have to be excused or downplayed.
"Abusers" aren't a type of goddamn yokai, they're people just like you and me. You don't help victims of abuse by putting the people who hurt us in an "untouchable" category.
In fact, all it does is make you less likely to recognize your own controlling behavior. You're capable of abuse. People you love are capable of it, too. People who love YOU can still hurt you.
In spite of how often people regurgitate "It's Ok To Like A Character As Long As You're Critical Of Their Actions," every day it is proven to me further and further that no one who says it actually understands what that means.
All that said; I think it's no contest which one's a worse parent, imo.
They both mistreated their children, but Curlfeather did it through manipulation without verbal or physical abuse. She politically groomed her into a position of power so that she could use her as a pawn. It can be argued if this counts as child abuse-- but it's firmly still under the broad category childhood maltreatment, which is damaging.
(though anon I'm with you 100% at seeing RED when "but she sacrificed herself" is used as an excuse. Curlfeather's death does NOT CHANGE what she did to Frostpaw in life. I think it's a valid point to bring up when comparing her to another terrible parent for judgement purposes, such as in the context of this poll, but I really hate the implication that redemption deaths "make up" for maltreatment.)
Crowfeather, meanwhile, is textually responsible for putting Breezepaw through verbal AND physical abuse, as well as child neglect. His motivations include embarrassment from a hurt ego, revenge on his ex, and being sad because of a dead girlfriend. This abuse drives Breezepelt towards radicalization in the Dark Forest.
You could argue Curlfeather is a worse person for Reedwhisker's murder, but as a parent? It's not even a question to me. Crowfeather's one of the worst dads in WC.

Frost: My crush isn’t picking up on my hints.
Twig: What hints have you given them?
Frost: Well, I think about him a lot.
Frost: And sometimes I even think about talking to him.

Boulgram thoughts on Boulder being shrunk down and kissing is cool but also just realized that Graham can cup Boulder’s face/helm with one hand and it must’ve been an odd feeling because he’s so used to Boulder cupping his head/face but Boulder be so happy they could do this now and leans into his hand and enjoying the fact he can feel Graham’s warmth so much more (instead of only small spots) and gently holding onto his cupping hand with his shrunk down digits but very gently because he’s so used to being careful/treating everything around him as mega delicate/still fear he might break something but he’s just so happy in the moment, and and and-
(Oh my Lord the pre-sleep brain worms.)

Episode 46 spoilers
I mean god fucking dammit. Its past 5am i stayed up to watch 45 and 46. I cant imagine how it must have felt watching this shit live.
I dont even know what to fucking say. Gricko hearing his daughter die. Him telling hootsie to run away only to hear her die like a minute later.
Kremy having like a second or two to look at gideons corpse before he gets attacked. Kremy with this strong motivation of having a good afterlife, just dying while looking at the corpse of the most important person in his life.
Torbek crying and trying to do anything jesus christ. AND FROST. The way derek was describing how panicked frost was was so uuhggGhEAGGHHHHH it broke my heart i cant fucking do this anymore??? When he tried to shield all of them, when he begged to get spared while trying to protect kremy and gideon, WHEN HE THREW HIS BACKPACK. Im sure that frost, like gideon and kremy, doesnt have anyone outside of this group. That was IT for him he looked at all of this and decided its worthless to even try to stay alive god fucking dammit.
Idk i mean someone is gonna save them. Idk who or what but theres more episodes. But that doesnt change the fact they all watched each other die in the span of about 2 minutes. Im just not fucking okay. Remember when they did a drag show? That was fun.

When I first started watching Danny Phantom, I thought Danny's "ghost sense" came from the fact that many accounts of spirits and other paranormal phenomena report an extreme drop in temperature when such entities are present. So I was like, yeah, that makes sense. Danny's "feeling" ghosts. I thought he was just extra sensitive now, that he was noticing the cold before anyone else, or that the cold ghost energy was condensing around him.
Tumblr media
The idea that the coldness was coming from within Danny, and that it was a side effect of his freeze abilities, perplexed me when it came up in Season 3.
Frostbite: Now, then. Lesson one: stop shivering.
Danny: I-I-I c-c-can't.
F: This is because the cold is contained within you, and ever since you acquired your ghost abilities, you have only been letting it out in small amounts.
D: Like when?
F: Every time you sense a ghost is nearby.
D: My ghost sense? That's been a part of this freeze power all along?
It makes me wonder if Danny's ghost sense originally started out like I suspected, then the writers decided to change things 6 episodes from the end of the show and give him ice powers for the express purpose of defeating Undergrowth in this episode.

NICO: WE SHARED THE LIFT THIS MORNING! I WAS GOING TO THE POOL TRAMPOLINE WITH MY TWO DAUGHTERS AND HE WAS GOING TO THE RACETRACK. PINKHAM: VERY DIFFERENT LIVES YOU'RE CURRENTLY LEADING.
#that line from nico is like /the/ modern brocedes thesis to me#like this is their happy ending!!! it is not the one they dreamed of all those years ago in greece but is a happy ending.#it's not multiple shared championships or racing against each other for years or anything their 13 year-old-selves would've dreamed up but#it is them achieving their dreams. lewis has 7 wdcs and is aiming for an 8th. nico has a loving wife and 2 daughters he'd die for. they are#both doing the things they love. would it have been nice if those dreams included each other? yeah. would it have been nice that when ppl#mention their names it would be to talk about what great friends they are instead of how they tore each other apart? absolutely! but they#were doomed from the start. so maybe it doesn't matter that they didn't get their traditional 'happy ending'. at least they had a happy#start and a semi-happy middle. at least they have the lift to see each other. at least nico's daughters get to keep lewis in their lives in#a way nico will never get to again. they will never share a bowl of frosties again but at least their roots are so thoroughly tangled#together that they can never look back without haunting each other. at least they still have that.#anyway for all the non-americans who reblog or like this. the poem is 'the road not taken' by robert frost. very famous in america#every middle/high schooler has to analyze/read this poem at some point. i don't know how popular he is outside of america so i thought id#leave a note ig.#anyway. i am going crazy and i need to lie down. that 2nd line was sooo hard to find a photo for. wth does 'hence' even mean???#brocedes edit#brocedes#f1 web weaving#f1#nico rosberg#lewis hamilton#f1 edit#nr6#lh44#web weaving

do you think matilda would like shadow&rouge fusion more or less than either of them individually? 🤔 i know the originals are always better in the sense she probably wouldn't choose to REPLACE them, but what do you think her opinion would be?
I think at first she'd feel like she wants to see them all the time cause she thinks its SO COOL, immediately goes to "CAN I DO THAT?" and wants them to show her. She sees them fight with mastery of both shadow and rouge's fighting techniques and she's in awe. But I think rougeshadow's personality would rub her the wrong way real fast. I can see them being really condescending and have an edge to them that theyre individually able to supress more when interacting with matilda, but mashing their personalities together brings it out full force so they can come off as quite mean. So having two people you're close to suddenly act like a different person (which they are but matilda doesnt grasp the more complex side of fusing yet) doesnt vibe with her to the point where she'd probably avoid them outside of a fight until they unfuse. She'd much rather have her friends individually than have them replaced with someone she doesn't recognize

I know it’s been a while since I’ve came on here and no one probably knows about the horror game Mouthwashing (which I heavily recommend if you’re okay with that sort of stuff/ain’t squeamish). On this page/for my followers, I mean.
That aside, really wanted to get some sort of rambling out my head regarding the ending, spoilers ahead.:
Admittedly I only watched a play-through and have yet to play the game myself (especially since I’m not the biggest gamer), but while Jimmy apologizing and putting Curly in the cryopod could be read as him truly regretting his actions, him really wanting to make amends… if we’re being very pessimistic, then we could say he did it for selfish reasons.
Sure, he could’ve went in there and leave Curly behind while making excuses like why he deserves to be the one alive and Curly is pretty much better off dead. But what if he did it only because he feels like he can’t live with the guilt, and him ‘saving’ Curly is more him attempting to make himself feel better for all the atrocities he had committed, a “I did one good thing, that was at least one thing I did right before I’m going to die”.
Curly already got put through so much suffering and for goodness sake, Jimmy had cut off pieces of him when he already has body parts missing from the crash. Him being placed into a cryopod can’t even guarantee his survival/rescue, and what happens if he does get found? Continuing the pessimistic view, his rescuers could easily see him as someone beyond saving, and see putting him out of his misery to be the best course of action (maybe because they don’t see the point of ‘wasting resources on someone who’s this damaged’). Not to mention Curly simply can’t have a say in the matter even if he wants to live. He could finally get hopes of rescue, only to be crushed about having no choice but to still die, and he can’t do anything about it.
I have so many thoughts about this game, but the thought that Jimmy’s so-called ‘last act of kindness/owning up to his mistakes’ could possibly be him doing it simply to lessen the regret he feels before inevitable death than to live on carrying such a massive guilt on his shoulders is truly chilling (and shows how he’s despicable to the very end, even when outwardly he looks like he’s ‘doing good’).
