Who are the Handmaidens?

In the Prose Edda, twelve Goddesses are listed after Frigga as Ásynjur: Fulla, Gefjon, Hlín, Syn, Eir, Sága, Gná, Vár or Vór, Snotra, Vör, Lofn and Sjöfn. Modern Heathens sometimes refer to Them as Frigga's Handmaidens. (This is a piece of shared gnosis, not an historically attested term.) For many of the Twelve, this is all that survives in the way of attestations.

What is the Project?

Gradually over several years, and more intentionally recently, I have been building a devotional cultus around these Goddesses. As part of that, I've been putting together primers on each of the Twelve on my longform blog -- detailing Their surviving attestations, Old English God-names and epithets for Them, my own personal experiences and upg, a prayer, and devotional icon art -- as well as essays and modern myths exploring other aspects of Them and my cultus to Them.

Although I use Old English names for Them and honour Them in a syncretic heathen practice drawing on influences from across the British and Irish Isles, I hope these may be useful and/or interesting for practitioners working in a Norse, Continental, or other context. Or for anyone worshipping and building cultus to lesser-known and lesser-attested Gods!

attention sky enthusiasts i have had a thought

ok so we know that sky is from zaun and like basically grew up with vikor (either as a childhood friend or just someone she knew) and they both ended up working at piltover university. And from what we can tell from all the other characters from zaun, THEY DONT HAVE LAST NAMES BUT FOR SOME REASON SKY HAS ONE???

ok so my theory is that vikor GAVE/FORGED sky a last name to help her out in the academy more, so people treated her better and not immediately clock her as someone from zaun OR TO EVEN GET HER A PLACE IN THE ACADEMY AT ALL .thats why vikor constantly calls sky ‘ms young’ even until she dies for the 2nd time CAUSE that last name is something he see as a means of protection and higher status FOR SKY. its a means for an easier life, one that isnt tied to the prejudice and hardships of zaun. LIKE DO U SEE THE IMPLICATIONS AGDHDJSJAHGA

The lack of information about Lisa, gives me some of possibilities. Sure that Dracula loved her but in his twisted way.

I don't like to see her as Dracula's dormat, but Lisa is definitely a glorified therapist for him.

The problematic portrayals of female characters.

Taking bad examples of underhanded, narrow-minded and negatively wired creators.

While I'm glad they made more females in Rise of tmnt like Kendra, box-comentator girl, Tailor Swift-alike

I can't help but think about how both Sunita and Big mama where following tricky-by-appearance or temporary ones syndrome. Idk, both females.

Separately, another problem that I had is how mutant unleashed game made a female character who's a threat who was also having that temporarily female character syndrome (1. Laird-fever as in "she was never seen again" trope (except when nobody forced you to do that, the way he had creative rights like before. To about fridge female characters like in an ugly gwen-stacy syndrome mentality, narrowminded and negative strawmen approach since the 70s)), 2. Ciro's-antifan/antishipper toxicity tendencies (treating their core fans poorly since being called out on their poor and OOC portrayals on female and minority characters. Typical.), 3. Model Minorifying or Narutifying traumatised characters, *insert a LOTR meme* smb simply doesn't like the people, that's all, that's ok, that's totally fine)

We need to get out of that mold really. This pattern to fem charas. Since 2012 irma and 1987 Mona.

Sunita can be written as a troubled girl like 2003 Quarry who really stuck as a rock-monster underground but would really want to be a human. (Or talisman has ben10ability but that's another story). Or can be an Earth-originated human alien just crazy stuff happened there so she is no longer a human.

Added with big ma and Frida. Make their dynamic not so on the surface level. And if keep the tone of the rise with pure motives and dignity. Maybe if you can't make Frida strong and independent, Lara Croft level smart and baddie maybe make ma and Fri aquintances who (falsely)have a common aim or interest.
