Continuing with speaking to the void, hello void!! I am here to ramble about Casper again. Simply because it's still buzzing through my head, and I love building concepts and hcs. Only this time, I'll also mention other characters and their relationships with our familiar spectral.

(Note: Felt like I should mention that this is my own spin on the characters. So... yeah. Just needed to mention it cause my last ramble about Casper didn't specify that. Anyway, back to the concepts.)

-Casper doesn't scare because he can't. He most certainly can. And be great at it due to his imaginative mind, but he chooses to be honest and polite upon approach.

- However, let's say that who he's speaking to is outright mean spirited and rotten? Okay. He'll give them a fright and run them out of his home. Though admittedly, since he doesn't scare too often, he exhausts himself and will often lay down for a power nap. Do NOT disturb him.

-He sees Kat as a sister. Primarily an older sister cause he's still in the mindset of a young adolescent as opposed to her. Who works and goes to college as a young adult.

-Casper has made other friends throughout the past. And the best ones he could ever have now are monsters like him! A demon and a witch. The witch in question is named Wendy

-The demon, however, didn't have a name, but together, they came up with a name. Inferno. He seemed to like that name. It's a lot better than HotStuff, yet he uses both titles cause those are the first names he's been addressed as.

-To simplify their relationship with Casper. Wendy is like a good influence, whereas Inferno is the bad. Kind of an angel and demon on your shoulder type deal. It can be a little funny to watch if you're his uncles who want their nephew to do something dastardly and goofy.

-Inferno has a terrible time with holding back his fire abilities. Just with one touch, an object is sent ablaze. Conveniently, the things set on fire are often times undesirable to most. So he accidentally does good without realizing it.

-Opposite of Inferno, Wendy is far more than just advanced in her magic skills. She's been claimed in recent centuries as the greatest witch to live yet. What makes her achievements more sweeter is that she is one of few witches to have interacted and befriended monsters of all shapes and sizes.

-With Wendy and Inferno as his friends, they have taught him one very important lesson for his eternal afterlife. Stand up for yourself when no one will. It's a lesson that seems obvious to do, but the two really try to nail it down as Casper doesn't vocalize his true feelings.

-If a ghost were to find a place or object that seems familiar to them, something in their minds will click and send them back in time. When they were alive, experiencing the moment all over. Sometimes, it's a good feeling. Although it's a mixed bag depending on how a person lived.

-Despite being dead for a long time, Casper does have moments of discomfort. Such as looking at cliffs or frozen lakes. Naturally, he avoids them if at all possible. Something like this could be a link to how he died, but that's something he's not willing to investigate. Not if he has to relive all that.

-Casper won't say it, but he does have a favorite uncle. But to say who is immensely debatable. And something he refuses to bring up at all.

-If you've ever wondered if monsters dream, then good news! They do, in fact, dream. But one thing I'd prefess is that monster dreams are so intertwined that many beasts end up meeting each other before ever meeting in person. It's a trip that very few humans have the pleasure of participating in

-This goes with no context, but this is a list of who would kill for Casper with no arguments:

They'd do happily if something or someone really hurt Casper. To say he'd be thrilled is, uh... well, who knows, really, cause I don't!

-The only time Casper joins in on the spooking is when it involves wannabe ghost and/or monster hunters. Cause most of them do, in fact, suck at their job and are real snobby jerks who disrespect property

-Deep within the manor is a hidden room closed off from all spirits and magic users alike. In this room is a book explaining all things Casper's father had discovered about monster life. As well as things he valued when it came to his own family that were simply irreplaceable. No one in the manor has discovered this room yet.

One thing has been haunting me for a while now as I read Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo for the first time—what has Tetsu been eating??

I'm all for Count D getting less murderous. It seems like his experiences with Leon and Chris have made him want to help out at least some humans and nudge them in a better direction, rather than setting people up for karmic animal deaths as a matter of course. He's helping a little, rather than judging and condemning and scaring quite so often. Or at least he's relatively neutral toward people while he tries to mess around and help out the local animals. He still ends up setting people up for self-defeat sometimes, but Tokyo has featured way fewer stories with that angle. And that's a nice character beat! I wish we'd spend a little more time on his introspection in-manga, but I can see what the creator is going for with this direction.

However, there's still a totetsu in the pet shop. There's at least one "pet" that eats humans as the center of his diet, and there's very likely more than just the one. D specifically got Tetsu to come stay at the pet shop by offering him food! Even if he's gotten less gung-ho about killing people, the fact that we've seen him/his pets cause the deaths of hardly anyone at all feels almost like a plot hole. Is there a list of missing persons in Kabukicho lining Tetsu's stomach, and we just don't know because Lau Wu Fei doesn't ever suspect or get involved with that side of D?

I'm all for character development, but in my heart D isn't D unless he's feeding the occasional creep and/or asshole to his menagerie.

Jonathan Crane, the Scarecrow, the Master of Fear, former professor and licensed psychiatrist known by everyone here in Gotham City, has a few work-related needs sometimes, that's why he recruits people as his more or less volunteer experiment subjects. He couldn't finalize his experiences or obtain efficacious results for his toxin fluids if he doesn't test his products on human guinea pigs.

These were one thing. Jon kept everything in 'the lab', his own office hideout he worked at, two stories below Edward and him's shared apartment of the past three months. Eddie did the same, he rents a studio in their modest-sized building where he pins his schemes, formulas and high-tech material.

They were in a profitable financial phase, they could afford two spaces turned into their respective offices on top of their loft in order to, as much as possible, keep work from invading their private space. Ever since they started living together, it became evident they both have a tendency to spread chemical vials, blueprints mapped with riddles, experimental formulas, pieces of what will turn into robots and question-mark shaped gadgets, prototypes of fear toxin weapons, pictures of Batman covered of green paint to connect the dots and figure out his identity...

And so on and so forth. If they were not careful, they'll end up submerged by a wave of Scarecrow-and-Riddler products.

After a fierce argument between the pair when Ed accused Jon, again, of putting dangerous products in the kitchen including in the FRIDGE next to their FOOD and Jonathan replied, just as furious, that Edward scribbled riddles on the bedroom WALLS with INDELIBLE MARKER, they concluded they need separate places to store 'work stuff' outside their common space.

That became an important matter if they wanted to preserve their relationship.

Now... regarding the Scarebeast. Edward had been categorical: he doesn't want Jon to turn into his monster self when they're together.

And then, one morning he woke up next to... a massive ball of fur that purred loudly when Ed absently scratched its cat-like brown ears. The Riddler had sighed that day, defeated but... then he smiled fondly at the creature.

The first time he saw the monster, he had been frightened. Afterwards... since it's a transformation Jonathan controls, not a dissociative identity or a werewolf-like curse, he slowly got used to it.

He slowly realized the Scarebeast is beautiful, like everything else about Jon.

Physically speaking, the strong, muscular monster is covered of a brown fur with lighter beige straps on the sides, the flanks, the upper arms and the thighs. The thing mostly walked on two legs albeit he could run on all four to go faster. He was a mainly feline hybrid: the rear paws and the tail resemble a lion's, so do the ears and he actually has a mane, of this same beige shade, that circles the brown head. The face doesn't look like any known animal's, maybe aside from the reptile-like shape: it is elongated, the jaw reveals a myriad of sharp teeth and the eyes in the fur are these of a crocodile. The front paws are peculiar too: they bend like a human's and the five long fingers can be used like a man or an ape's hands... if that man or ape carried knives in place of nails. The long black claws might be sharp, Jon perfectly controlled them: he never cut Edward the times he stroked his pumpkin orange hair under his monster form.

Yes, Eddie's boyfriend turns into a beast.

No, he doesn't especially want Jon to hang out under this... appearance, when he is in the flat, but the process is not 'fast': when he morphs to his creature self, he has to maintain it for a bit. Sometimes an hour, sometimes longer depending on his energy, he cannot get back to his human skin after merely a couple minutes of transformation.

Yes, this is a nightmare for the Arkham staff, as one can imagine.

No, nobody found the Scarebeast 'nice', 'lovely' or 'adorable' at first sight. Edward and Selina might be the only ones who came to this conclusion, as they both have a soft spot for CATS. Harley finds him cute too, even if she is more of a dog person, as attested by her pet hyenas Bud and Lou.

And yet... someone managed to call the beast a beauty, and to find him adorable in his own way over their first encounter.

An exceptional little girl.
