This was so fun to make! Digital collage for September ♥️.

I associated September with the color gold at first and then I saw that beautiful image on the top left, ( illustrated by French Designer, Jean Dunand ) and it just pushed that association further. I then saw the Frida Khalo illustration & I loved! the lace, so I found some on canva and threw in that gorgeous bronze lace in the back. I just had so much fun doing this. I just let my mind run & it feels so good looking at it. It makes me happy.

The quote is the energy I want to call in for September and honestly, for the rest of my life.

Reminder from the Office of the Rules Public Defender that lycanthropy is classified as a curse and therefore can be removed by remove curse (a third level spell that is available to clerics). In other words, if FRIDA doesn't want to be a werewolf, Deanna or FCG can remove lycanthropy no later than first thing in the morning.

Germany have selected their act for Eurovision, and thank goodness they went for Lord of the Lost with Blood and Glitter!!! I was getting nervous after those Jury points, but despite all worries the Televote actually came through! Will Church might be a good singer, but Lord of the Lost easily had the best performance in my opinion, the show was great despite the small space, and the lead singer has a great metal vocal. I'm so excited to see them amp this up for Liverpool, I'm expecting more of everything - more pyrotechnics, more glitter, more drama! The song itself is great, sure it's lyrically very repetitive, but it's all it needs to be for the three minutes. I don't know how well this will do at Eurovision, even with a male band heavy lineup I expect it to stand out, but I don't know how polarising it will be for voters, both jury and televote. However, from my point of view I think it's a great addition to this years set of songs!

Description

Like many paintings by Frida Kahlo, Self-Portrait Dedicated to Leon Trotsky focuses on a particular event in the artist’s life. It commemorates the brief affair Kahlo had with the exiled Russian revolutionary leader Leon Trotsky shortly after his arrival in Mexico in 1937. In this painting, she presents herself elegantly clothed in a long embroidered skirt, fringed shawl, and delicate gold jewelry. Flowers and coils of red yarn adorn her hair and adroitly applied makeup highlights her features. Poised and confident in her stage-like setting, Kahlo holds a bouquet of flowers and a letter of dedication to Trotsky that states, “with all my love.” Interestingly, Clare Boothe Luce, the American playwright, socialite, and U.S. Congresswoman, donated Self-Portrait Dedicated to Leon Trotsky to NMWA in 1988.

Kahlo, like many Mexican artists working after the Revolutionary decade that began in 1910, was influenced in her art and life by the nationalistic fervor known as Mexicanidad. The artists involved in this movement rejected European influences and favored a return to the country’s native roots and folk traditions. Kahlo often wore the distinctive clothing of the Tehuantepec women in southwest Mexico; she also looked to pre-Columbian art and Mexican folk art for forms and symbols in her paintings. The compositional elements of the stage and curtains, for example, draw upon Mexican vernacular paintings called retablos, devotional images of the Virgin or Christian saints painted on tin, which Kahlo collected.
