Nathaniel: How are you talking to us then?

“Sorry man, but this is as far as I can go right now.” Ron said as he nervously waded around in the murky, slimy water of Lake Wannaweep while watching as Gill merrily circled him like a shark.

      “Hey, Gill, no! I see that smirk in your eyes!” Ron warned. He wanted to trust him not to splash him or try to pull him in further, but as he spoke edged a little closer back to shore.

      Gill noticed. The ominously gleaming red eyes narrowed and a low rumble made the water around his neck ripple lightly.

      “Rargh!” Gill snarled as he leapt from the water and pounced him. Or, at least, at him. Ron jumped back as best he could while being waist-deep in muck, but only one leg ever rose high enough to escape it as he curled in on himself to brace for whatever impact was coming.

      Water droplets fell over him like a sudden rain, but nothing else came.

      Carefully, Ron peeked open one eye and saw Gill just sort of standing there. Staring at him, all annoyance and odd uncertainty. He was breathing a bit hard.

      “Gill?” Ron asked. Gill growled low again in the back of his throat and the side of his mouth flapped a little as he pushed his breath through it, his gills vibrating. Then he sank back into the water after the moment passed and got a curious look to him.

      Ron squinted, slowly lowering his guard. He wasn’t sure if that was supposed to mean anything but wasn’t given the chance to investigate since the mischief was back and Gill rose back up in a flash, bringing armfuls of water with him. Ron shrieked— shrieked— as he was drenched in stinky water and trace amounts of watergrass.

      “DUDE!” Ron yelled. Gill probably didn’t hear him though, too busy flipping back in the water and swimming in gleeful circles to himself as the sound of his gurgling laugh filled the air. Ron sloshed and spat and shook himself to try and get at least some of it off but ultimately gave up and glared back at the swamp monster. He was certainly in his element, the unusual look he’d had all but gone in the revelry of his successful prank.

      Ron grinned, but quickly hid it.

      “Oh, come on, you got my hair all wet! And— eww!— I think I got some in my mouth!” Ron grumbled and spat as he paddled back to shore.

      Gill’s happy noises dissipated the closer he got and he slunk closer again. He watched from the shallows as the camp counselor shook himself off on the sandy-dirty shore by the dock and looked every bit like he intended on leaving the camp’s— his— territory.

      But then his expression changed from that odd one to surprise as Ron turned just beyond the tree line and booked it back toward the lake, barely able to hold back his laugh as his footsteps thudded over the dock and flung himself from the pier straight at Gill.

      The look of mild alarm that Ron managed to catch a glimpse of was worth the trouble of subjecting himself to that nasty lake, and the fact he’d be smelling of it for a good while after this. He grabbed Gill as gravity pulled him down in a cloud of bubbles. He could hear his startled gurgles and felt uncommonly satisfied.

      “What’d you do that for!?” Gill snapped when t hey finally breached the surface again. Ron sputtered and shook his hair and squeegeed the water from his eyes with the heel of his palm, still laughing too hard to answer for a good few seconds.

      “Aw, come on buddy, what’s a couple of pranks between friends?”

      Ron was still chuckling, still smiling, but soon he realized how intently Gill was staring at him.

      And that he was barely having to work to keep himself afloat. He shuddered when he noticed the claws around his waist.

      He swallowed inadvertently, the taste of bog water bringing his attention back.

      “You... think I’m your friend?” Gill’s gravelly voice was uncharacteristically quiet, and suddenly Ron was confused. It must’ve showed, since Gill mirrored it.

      “Well, yeah? I guess so.”

      I guess so. Ron repeated it in his mind. Even as he cursed his halfhearted and lame way of putting it, Gill looked to the water swirling between them thoughtfully. Then he grunted.

      Before Ron could say anything else, he felt himself being pulled along back to the edge of the lake. Gill let him go when he could stand on his own and, standing as well, hunched an arm’s length away.

      The atmosphere was kind of... awkward.

      A smallish burp rushed from Ron and interrupted it.

      Gill looked up at him with one eyebrow raised high, the other nearly a flat line over his other eye. Ron couldn’t help himself, he chuckled.

      “Sorry, must’ve accidentally swallowed some bog water,” he offered, rubbing the back of his sticky neck.

      A slow smile spread on Gill’s face and it eased Ron’s nerves a little. Before long, they were both laughing at the stupidity of it all.

      Friends, I guess, huh? Ron thought. That’s a decent way of putting it.

Majo your love for both nevermore and Castle swimmer is SO FUNNY bc it's literally every yaoi vs yuri stereotype where the boys are 💫 talking about their feelings 💫 and 💞 being emotionally vulnerable 💞 and 🥺 healing from their traumas 🥺 and the girls are trying to fuck nasty while covered in blood as someone screams into the distance

Castle Swimmer and Nevermore somehow both scratch such different itches for me yet simultaneously hit that perfect sweet spot that makes my mind go completely feral.

When it comes to the main couples, you really hit the nail on the head on their vibes and how they’ve dug themselves so deeply in my brain. Although there is clear conflict set up for Kappa and Siren that they will have to work through together in the rest of season three, these two are running CIRCLES, fucking marathons, around White Raven in terms of communication and stability. Meanwhile White Raven are in the middle of their messy, messy divorce, with Lenore having her joker moment during the public break up of their secret relationship while Annabel has a panic attack, all because Annabel didn’t seem to consider Lenore’s reaction if she found out Annabel trapped one her of closest companions behind a wall and left him to die. The two couples have such different vibes and yet both of them share that overwhelming devotion, wanting to do anything to keep the other safe. That despite everything the universe keeps throwing at them that stands in their way, they will keep on fighting for each other because they gave each other a new drive in life that they lost/didn’t have before. It’s all so *chief’s kiss*

Well…that and one humorous detail that I’ve suddenly realised while thinking/writing about this. While both Kappiren and White Raven are both equally smitten with their respective partners, their reactions to each other’s affection clearly differentiate.

Siren and Lenore, while they have their moments, are more easily flustered when it comes to respective partners. Kappa saying or doing the right things will get immediately get Siren completely red in the face and a utter mess, and Lenore is not better as soon as Annabel starts with her flirtations. The two of them are also very gentlemanly/princely in their affections for their partners, with the main example that comes to my mind being hand kisses.

Kappa and Annabel on the other hand…lord are they down bad and they are not shy about showing it. When it comes to Siren, Kappa is downright shameless with his flirting and will take any opportunity to see Siren blush. Two days into knowing him, Kappa told Siren that he thinks his teeth are sexy. He openly admits to Siren when he offers to give Kappa his bag back that, and I quote ‘I like that my stuff is strapped around your hot body’ without batting an eye, while Siren has a mini heart attack in the background. He knows exactly what he does to Siren and loves every minute of it. Then there’s Annabel, who despite coming up with the plan to pretend being rivals to divide the school, is FULLY ON blushing and basically moaning in PUBLIC when Lenore pins her against the walls, too focused on how hot she thinks her wife is getting properly into the role as enemies that she doesn’t that Lenore is genuinely fucking furious with her and is about to pull out the divorce papers and a gun. She saw Lenore in her ‘Leo Vandernacht’ fit and it immediately altered her brain chemistry. The girl will allow her hands to wander when she is alone with Lenore and she enjoys every second of it

Some character designs I created for my uni course last year as part of a “trope smashing” brief! I really enjoyed how these guys turned out - I see them as a private investigative pair in a fantasy victorian-esque setting, with perhaps some sci-fi elements. And yes, they’re husbands.

I'm losing my fucking mind.

In the last years, my university has been tagged multiple times with racist and neo-nazi symbols. The local of our union against racism and pro lgbtq+ was destroyed multiple times. Nothing was done, but a bit of paint to cover it up. No investigation. No punishment. And when I vocalised my discomfort, I was told it was nothing, just "immature young people trying to get attention".

Last year, the prefect of Paris authorized a Neo-Nazis' protest. Neo-Nazis walked in Paris, freely, as if it's not illegal to express racism or nazi rhetoric in this country. People weren't happy, so the prefete said it would not happen again.

Well, for the 21st of April, multiple protests against racism were organized all around France, and, they were not authorized by the authorities. The same prefect that let, a year ago, Neo-Nazis in the street of Paris, refused to let a protest against racism walk those same streets. He said "It's antisemitic. They support Palestine, they are antisemitic.". Yeah, take us for idiots, the protest against racism is going to be too antisemitic but not the Neo-Nazis you let walk around (and we know he would do it again).

And now, we have Sciences Po, one of the most reputable universities in our country, joining the movement the USAmerican students have started. The Sorbonne, another reputable university, followed. The French gov and media cried about it, called them "terrorists", "uneducated", "revolutionaries" (this one is crazy and really shows the fascism behind it all. We are in France, being revolutionary is NOT a bad thing in our culture. Wtf would you use "revolutionary" negatively in France, unless you are an oppressor?!!!) Students who are calling for the end of Genocide and just sitting on the ground! The cops were sent and dragged them out. For information, the cops CANNOT intervene in an university in France without the authorization of the president of this university. Not even the gov can make the cops enter an university, it's illegal. When students protest inside an university, people don't like seeing the cops being send after them. Two reasons: 1- students have often protest and help for the quality of life of everyone in French history, 2- WWII's trauma, Nazis stormed French universities because they were hiding Jews and resistants. Like, they are straight up acting like the Nazis, again. And the city of Paris wants to cut the budget they give to those two universities to punish them for not keeping their students in line. So, freedom of speech? GONE.

Students are protesting against a massacre, and they are calling them antisemitic. People standing against racism is antisemitic. But not the people branding Neo-Nazi symbols and chanting Neo-Nazi slogans. They don't move if you are branding a swastika, which is illegal, but will if you are branding Palestine's flag, which is not (yet). They let a political party founded with a SS go around and act nice, but the ones asking for the end of a massacre are the Nazis. Make sense.

So, I'm fucking pissed. I'm fucking pissed because I was told to "calm down" when I couldn't stand the antisemitism paint on my university, when I couldn't stand being friendly with the students that did or support that (because I did meet one). I was told to ignore antisemitism and I refused, and now, they call me antisemitic for standing with Palestinians?! How dare they when they tried to gaslight me so I would ignore the antisemitism in front of me?!

They don't care about jewish people! It's not about jewish people or the jewish faith, it's about white supremacy!

The people have already planned to protest during the Olympic Games, because the French gov is going full fascism lately (everyday, we wake up to more bs), and I hope with all my heart that we ruin the event at least (which would harm them financially), and at best, we get rid of the government and this 5th republic.
