I'm someone who makes a lot of effort to see the good in everyone. But propaganda is involved and clarity is necessary, just like with the Syria situation and all its authoritarian parties.

It's important that people don't mistake the exhaustion of the will to harm, for virtue.

These protests are about how Hamas failed Gazans in destroying Israel, and as for me, the honesty in its humanitarian potential begins and ends with how much the anti-Hamas movement can be measured in pro-hostage actions.

Right now, hundreds of people in north Gaza are protesting against the war, some even against hamas.

You probably won't hear about it in the news, because, as was proven so many times, basically every journalist in Gaza is either also a terrorist or affiliated with hamas, and they refuse to cover the protests.

Personally, I'm not optimistic about the protesters. I know most if not all of them didn't mind at all when hamas invaded Israel and massacred Jews. They just want to end the war because now it's affecting them (they are evacuating because hamas shot rockets at Israel from their area).

But. Realistically, this is how change starts. Before we can make people choose peace, they need to really, really not want war.

Anyway. All the so-called Pro-Palestine people I have looked for in the "gaza" and "palestine" tags are either calling the anti-Hamas protests an Israeli psyop or claiming that if you are pro-Israel, you are required to have an answer to the question of what Gaza and Palestine should do next and it can't be "dropping bombs" (fuck me what is wrong with you people).

I have no quick answers for what Gaza and Palestine should do after these protests. Undoing a multi-decade terror regime is not something I have experience in. I don't think it's wrong to be hopeful for the people fighting back without having some magical solution to problems I have no direct experience with. No one demanded I have answers for the Arab Spring or any other popular uprising. Kind of seems like the people making these demands want to continue to act like they give a shit about Gazans and Palestinians while still wearing their antisemitism on their fucking sleeve.

The double standard of believing Jews are people strikes again.

You can tell how little so called “Pro Palestine” activists actually give a shit about Palestinians when the people of Gaza have very courageously taken to the streets in their hundreds to protest against Hamas and it’s absolute radio silence. They don’t love Palestinians, they love Hamas.

The very least you can do for people you supposedly care oh so much about is to stop simping for their oppressors and calling them “freedom fighters.”

Incredibly brave ordinary people risking their lives to take to the streets and demand better from their so called governing body, who have brought them nothing but destruction and suffering. This is what fighting for freedom actually looks like and useful fucking idiots here in the West fall over themselves to show themselves up as nothing but self righteous, patronising “saviours” of those poor brown victims of “colonialism and white supremacy” while completely ignoring what they’re actually saying.

This is 74 year old Canadian Israeli Peace activist Vivian Silver.

Silver dedicated her life to promoting peace. she co-founded Women Wage Peace, an interfaith grassroots organization, and was a board member of the human rights organization "Bzelem". she volunteered in "On the Way to Recovery," accompanying cancer patients from the Gaza Strip to hospitals in Israel. she was co-CEO at Ajik - an Arab-Jewish organization working since 2000 to support Bedouin society in the Negev and promote shared life for Arabs and Jews throughout the country.

When asked about her aspirations for the future of her grandchildren, she said, "May they have Arab friends, Palestinians. May they not be afraid."

On October 4th 2023, Silver helped to organize a peace rally in Jerusalem which attracted 1,500 Israeli and Palestinian women.

The last connection with her was on the morning of october 7th, when she hid in a closet and texted her son. she wrote "well, the terrorists are in my house". he wrote "i'm on your side". "i feel you" she answered.

She was believed to be kidnapped, but today, 38 days later, her body was identified.

May this kind soul rest in peace. The mind can't comprehend that this was her fate. Thank you for everything you did. May we will get to witness something of your aspirations come true in our lifetime.

Got an Ask about this. A brief note of explanation:

Since the protests started in Gaza, it's been more important to amplify Palestinian voices for peace than do anything else here.

This isn't, campus Hamasniks, an Israeli PsyOp. This isn't, dear paranoid among Jews, a trick from the people of Gaza.

It's a genuine uprising against Hamas. That's extraordinary and deserves our attention.

It is hopeful, it is important.

I don't have any illusions that the protesters have suddenly become fans of Israel, but they're so sick of war that they're risking being massacred by Hamas and openly, in an organized manner, calling for a political solution.

If peace can be built, it can only be built on that sort of foundation.

It deserves our attention.

Since the MSM is doing a shit job of following the Gaza protests, I'm following closely and re-sharing what Palestinians like Ihab Hassan and Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib share about it.

I urge you to try to spread this information, particularly to "Pro-Palestinian" westerners.
