ok someone please correct me if i'm wrong but am i weird for thinking those 'audiobooks don't count as reading' posts are ableist as fuck????

#ramble #my first thought was like: how is this even a debate what about blind people. not every book comes in braille but MOST have an audiobook #or dyslexic people #you still enjoyed the book!! you still absorbed it!!! you got EXACTLY the same thing as people who read the words!!!#how does it not count????#i guess you miss out on the 'learning new vocab' you get through seeing the words but also #i don't really do audiobooks but i do a lot of podcasts esp fiction podcasts #and i have ABSOLUTELY picked up new stuff from there that helps with my writing #someone please explain how this is even an argument of COURSE it counts????#idk in my opinion finishing a book means 'i put the words in my brain and i thought about them and i enjoyed a story'#not 'i held a stack of paper in my hands for a bit'#i'm v lucky that i do have time to sit and read. and whenever i commute anywhere it's public transport so i CAN bring a book with me #but if i didn't have the free time or had to drive for hours everywhere i would be STOKED to still get to enjoy books #it's been REALLY bothering me lmao idk why i feel so strongly #for some reason it's giving the same energy as like. being told you can't take a comic or manga from the library bc it's not a 'real' book #of course it's a real book it's a story somebody wrote down #i can see this spiralling into 'if you have a kindle you aren't reading'. you have to sniff the paper. feel the papercuts

happy purim y'all!! a few weeks back i got to be in a lecture with jordan gorfinkel where he spoke about his project of creating graphic novel adaptations of the tanakh, and showed some examples from the development of the illustrated megillat esther. the amount of research, dedication and hard work that went into it is incredible. have some photos of the finished thing

#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 616 #Phases of the Moon Knight #Moon Knight comics #latest release #Moon Knight #Max Coleridge #this is slightly embarrassing but to be perfectly frank (but not the Punisher un/fortunately)#so much went down in Moon Knight (Vol. 9/2021) no. 25 I had forgotten Waxman was free #so I turned the page here and briefly went HUH how’d he get out of all that concrete???#needless to say I figured it out hahaha #but anyway it’s fascinating how this story highlights varying approaches to justice #which I guess considering how pivotal justice is to being a fist of Khonshu you think would be discussed more thoroughly already #Dr. Sterman already introduced the concept of rehabilitation in relation to Marc’s many crimes #but in contrast Max is demonstrating a bit of preventative measures #moving beyond broken window theory to its natural conclusion of punishing people for their past and/or how they look #a very «might makes right» sort of mentality #which the title might be alluding to (in addition to being one of my favorite books ever for a little unnecessary op lore)

I think the universe just hates me personally (can't find my scooby doo comics)

#WHERE ARE THEY #i own like 5 individual issues split between SD WAY and SD & batman adventures and i cant find like 4 of them #this is important bc i just got this new app where you track which comics youve read and i need to be accurate bc yay lists and just aaaggh #also sidenote i think ive found my soulmate this one person leaves a review on each and every WAY comic and they EVEN AGREE WITH ME #literally they said they hated over the boardwalk and i was literally like 'i think im in love'#also i know you guys almost certainly dont know what that is. i have an insanely unporportional hatred of that story especially compared to #its relevancy to scooby comics much less scooby doo as a whole #however i hate it so fucking much its unreal. like pure rage. its worse than scooby apocalypse to me <<<<absolutely nonsensical opinion #anyways feel free to ask me about it (i dare you. i dare you to do it) because i WILL fume with rage and i think that must be heard #but i will not go into a scooby comics rant unprompted. because before i subject you to that i need to know that at least 1 person is #remotely interested lol #also to properly form my rant id have to make myself read over the boardwalk again 🤢🤢🤢 <<<again nonsensical response #and i wont do that for me but id do it for any of you in an instant #ANYWAYS WHERE ARE MY COMICS. Had to be around people with no hobbies or passions today. I feel sick

#Hanging out with friends is not a hobby!!#Go read or draw or bicycle or bake or sew or literally anything #I used to be hesitant to call gaming a hobby #But I've made up my mind #Gaming is as much of a hobby as reading #And at least those obnoxious 11 year olds that obsess over fortnite do SOMETHING #Like I was hanging out with some people my age and they said they just go on social media in their free time #PLEASE PLEASE pick up a book or bake a cake #You'd be surprised by how much fun you have doing fulfilling hobbies instead of nothing at all #I have like 8 different hobbies so I feel weird asking people what they do in their free time and they just say they go on tiktok #Take my hand. I'm going to show you the beautiful world of a search engine. Let's find a book you'll like together #Do you like romance? Comedies? Horror? True crime? Fantasy? Heck wanna read a comic book??#Girl please I'll help you find something. Please just do something with your free time #I say reading as my main suggestion for hobbies #Because there's something for everyone #There's like 4 million books published EACH YEAR #You're bound to find something you'll love #There's even short stories if you don't quite have that long of an attention span. It's okay you can actively work to make it longer #Like of course no one is going to read war and peace or a long series like pjo immediately #But there's lots of shorter books that wrap up in just a hundred pages #This post is not about people who lack motivation due to mental illness. That's another problem entirely #pie won't shut up

A little thank you to all the people who took the time to check out my mini comic Prom Night this weekend for Free Comic Book Day! I wasn’t expecting such a warm reception, but I got so many sweet comments and messages from old readers of my comics and new ones who don’t know these characters yet! My heart is full!

If you liked Sully and Carrie and want to know more about them, you can read my free webcomics Seemingly Dark and Mil-Liminal on Webtoon and Tapas. In both comics they are all grown up, using the names Johnny and Caro respectively, a lot of life has happened in between Prom Night and their current story arc, but you can follow their reconnection as they learn who each other has become over the last seven years and fall in love all over again. They are side characters with important arcs in Seemingly Dark, but I loved them so much I gave them their own story in Mil-Liminal!

Fun fact: yes these are the cuties from my detention piece! And also most of the art on this blog, you just see masculine Caro much more often then their teenage femme counterpart.
