So, as you can probably tell from the six whole years of complete silence, Frameshift kind of.... fell by the wayside. Despite my best intentions at the time, i simply couldn't keep up the creative momentum for this undertaking. I've had plenty of ideas and concepts for where a few lines could go, but there were so many that I just could not work out (the middle forms of the Oraquill line, in particular, proved elusive in both name and appearance), and my ability to actually generate proper art seems to have wibbled on and off - and while I made several attempts to get back into Frameshift, I never could quite recapture what I've previously done with it, and I think I have to face the facts and admit that I... likely won't, at least in the foreseeable future. Not going to say I'm never going to revisit this little project - but for now, I may as well close the book on this particular endeavor and let it quietly pass into the sea of daily-pokedex-drawing-challenges that never made it.

But before I do, I have two last Frameshift 'mon to share - creatures that I actually succeeded in conceptualizing and drawing years ago, and were simply waiting for their evolutionary predecessors that, unfortunately, never took shape. These are Oraqueen and Oraking, the Psychic/Ice type equivalents of Nidoqueen and Nidoking. Oraqueen, the Seer Pokémon, forms orbs of ice which she can use as a scrying focus in order to divine patterns that can be exploited in her foes' attacks or weak spots in their defense, to better support her allies in combat. This in contrast with Oraking, the Warlock Pokémon, whom uses staves formed of ice as a focus for a channeling the elements and amplifying their power - and is the more offense-oriented of the two.

Fun bio things

My coworker and I were fighting for our lives in the last 30 minutes before winter break (we're off at noon today) trying to hand-translate genomic sequence like we were back in second year biology so we could figure out how to merge an insertion and a deletion LOL

It was an insertion of a GG (shifts the frame +2) and a deletion of an A (shifts the frame -1) that were two separate calls, but we were trying to combine them. The insGG caused a stop codon at position 43, and the delA caused a stop codon at position 42, but the combined frameshift (+2 - 1 = +1) didn't make a stop codon, so we were like...okay then what's the new notation...

I'm pretty sure the new notation is something like fs*? (a frameshift but you have no idea when it makes a stop) but this is me digging in my brain for second year biology and even then I don't think we learned this HAHA

Dusted off the Diamondback Explorer since the Anaconda is over kill for ground missions in Elite. It's soooooo much more nibble and responsive than the Anaconda, which shouldn't be suprising since the Explorer is a small ship and the Anaconda is one of the largest ships you can buy.

Also upgraded the frameshift drive to the Pre-engineered on I got for contributing to the final Titan's destruction. And it went from a 33ly max range per jump to 60ly per jump. It'll definitely be my goto ship for traveling around the bubble now.

Hellooo, chapter 2 of Frameshift is up. Snake and Otacon get a bit of a clearer picture of what’s happening, and Snake starts to see the upper limits of his impulse control. This one contains blood and gore, nerdy mission and tech details, and some delicious psychological horror.

I'm alive! I've just been swallowed by uni work! But I've been missing drawing the girls so much, so here they are being cute and wonderful guh I love them. Hopefully I'll have time for more sketching soon :)

Having one of those days where nothing is going right. NCBI is telling me my GenBank upload is full of frameshift errors when I sure as hell know that it isn't. My vet office had an internal miscommunication and my cat's meds aren't actually ready for pickup and we have to reschedule her appointment. Publix says my pick up order was never received despite having a confirmation number.

My brain feels like it's on fire from trying to handle and manage everything today, and my long term fosters are going to their forever home today and I'm grieving their impending absence in my home and in my life. All this when in reality I should be focusing solely on writing my dissertation. It's just a lot.
