Woah, the Guys are getting their Apocalypse Christmas after all!
Doing the tagging rq: @xpau-official / @kuuuuro
I had a great time drawing these guys on this card base, and it's great to see that xpau is continuing on the legacy of cpau! Glad I stumbled across the account!
Other notes that I'm holding under here:
These guys are Dust, Geno, and Reaper, but from my lil au called Ec-4o.verse! Their universe has been in an odd robotic apocalypse for decades, and they're some of the few monsters who actually *remember* what Christmas is besides the robots w/ history files. It's a plot-point that there's a 'snow' and they decide to show their younger members of their survival group what Christmas was ā™”
Also, these sweaters were designed by @satsukidoodles404 my wonderful partner in crime for the Ec-4o.verse project! Last year they drew these three in Christmas outfits, and I never had the chance to doodle them! (And Dust's Dino pants were a suggestion from @/neonsix67, my roomie, cuz I felt like Dust would wear Christmas pj pants too.)
I was gonna add in Blue and Horror (the two who would be the most enamored by the idea of a holiday) but I didn't have the energy lmao-)

Hi, new to the WOT fandom here! What are the production issues from season 1 that you keep referring to? Thanks!
I'm so glad you're wotching!!!!!!
So when amazon commissioned the show, they originally slated the first season to be 10 episodes. After the team had written the entire season's scripts, Amazon pushed them to do rewrites on certain things and shortened the episode count to 8.
The first episode was supposed to be two episodes, probably ending episode 1 with the start of the trolloc attack and then episode 2 would be them choosing to leave the two rivers and emond's field (their hometown), and they had to shorten that to 1 episode, so the pacing in the first episode ends up really wacky and fast. I'm pretty sad about this because part of what makes the first book effective is the contrast between the sleepy pleasant small town life in emond's field and how that peace is destroyed when the plot intrudes. And I think the change made it harder for new fans to attach themselves to the main gang properly.
They also, after amazon's rewrite requests, changed Perrin's early plot significantly. Originally he was going to accidentally kill his blacksmith master, Master Luhan, and after the rewrites he was given a wife who isn't in the books who gets fridged immediately. I guess amazon thought people would only understand the emotional significance of killing a lover and not a mentor. I really didn't like that choice when I first watched it, but I do think now they're going to do something interesting with the aftermath of the dead wife stuff in Perrin's s3 arc.
The shortened episode count also impacts the pacing of the end of the first season, which also got crunched together a bit. The end of the season also had further problems because covid happened, and the last two episodes were interrupted and had to be filmed after a hiatus and with new covid protocols in place, so the characters can't touch during some key scenes at the end. They had to rewrite the scene where Nynaeve and Egwene almost burn out during the battle of Tarwin's Gap on the day of shooting, and I think the scene is less effective as a result.
Also, one of the main actors was unable to return after lockdowns for possibly covid related health reasons, Barney who played Mat, so that's why it was changed and edited so that he doesn't come into the Ways with them in episode 6, and they also had to rewrite the last two episodes to accomodate his absence and then recast Mat for s2.
As a result of all this, episode 1, 7, and 8 in season one are all a little rough around the edges and a lot of book fans, including me, didn't really like the first season when it was airing. I like it more now upon rewatch now that I can see all the stuff they did manage to set up really well for the long haul of the story, but the first season had a difficult reception when it aired, and I think a lot of people let that less than stellar first impression color their opinion of the show as a whole. Which is unfortunate, because almost all* television shows improve as seasons go on and the team behind the show gets into the groove with it, and this one definitely improves each season.
Season 2 was written with the knowledge that it would only be 8 episodes, and they didn't have any interruptions during filming, so it's significantly better in its pacing.

I've always found the idea of using lofty titles like Duke and Deo for baby names hilarious, primarily due to the beautiful image of little baby Warlord smashing mashed peas up his nose at the dinner table, but am I funny enough as an unimpressive 5'3" dumpster-diving transmasc to name myself something as cringingly, lavishly grandiose as "King"?
we shall see

"We are here on a very important day, before a very important election and we are here, more than anything, to speak about protection of an election, making sure that the election that occur tomorrow will be free, will be fair and it will be final," [Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner] said.
He said that the task force, which, Krasner, a Democrat, noted was operating on a non-partisan basis -- "We do not care who gets your vote. We care that you get to vote," he promised -- would be on the lookout for any election concerns throughout the day.
Though they don't believe there will be issues, Krasner said the task force will be looking out for "people working in polls or close to polls who will bring frivolous challenges to voters."
"Anybody who thinks they are going to play those games in Philadelphia, you're going to do it in bad faith -- I got no problem with doing it in good faith -- but, if you're going to do it in bad faith, there is an election court, there are judges, they have orders and, those orders are going to say, in essence, 'get out of the polling places,'" he said. "Anybody who doesn't get out, you're going to be arrested."
And, he warned that anyone who think it's will be fun as they plan to interfere in Tuesday's elections, they might find out otherwise.
"You can have your fun in a jail cell, cause that's what's coming," he said.
In fact, Krasner took a moment to superficially warn anyone who has any plans to interfere with the city's electoral process -- like the two men who came to the city and were arrested after being found with weapons outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center when votes were being tallied there in 2020 -- would simply 'F around and find out."
"Anybody who thinks it's time to play militia, F around and find out. Anybody who thinks it's time to insult, to deride, to mistreat, to threaten people, F around and find out," said Krasner. "We do have the cuffs, we do have the jail cells, we do have the Philly juries and we have the state prisons. So, if you're going to turn the election into some form of coercion, if you're going to try to bully people, bully votes or voters, if you're going to try to erase votes, if you're going to try any of that nonsense, F around and find out."
