Guys I just realized. William James Moriarty from Moriarty the Patriot, Johan Liebert from Monster and Ash Lynx from banana fish could be the blonde crime genius suicidal buddies. They have so much in common its ridiculous. All of them do crime, and are 'crime lords'. All of them and hot and blonde. All of them are geniuses, generally very smart. And all of them have some level of suicidal tendencies or self-destructive behaviours. Johan clearly doesn't care if he dies, and he asks Tenma to shoot him. I haven't watched the whole Mtp show yet, but judging from the opening where William holds a gun to his head he's also suicidal. And Ash says that he isn't scared of dying, and that many times in his life death sounded comforting, which mean he is or was at some point suicidal!

The final Holmes story published by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1927, this forms part of Case-Book. Doyle would write a number of other works, including two Professor Challenger stories, before his death in July 1930.

"Halt-on-demand" stations are those where passengers have to request the train stops there either via informing the guard in advance if getting off, or by other methods if getting on, like holding your arm out for a bus, although electronic methods are in increasing use. Historically fishing was a major source of food for poorer rural families. From 1865, you needed a licence for salmon and trout fishing, although not for other fish. About pointing a loaded gun at his own head, about flinging his revolver into a river, etc.

I do have a slight problem with it though: Watson's revolver might produce a similar chip in the stone, but it definitely won't produce one 'of the exact size and shape of the first'. That would require Watson's revolver to be coincidentally the exact same model as owned by Gibson, which I find highly unlikely.

Holmes does ask the sergeant to get Watson's revolver back though, probably because he turned around to see Watson murder-glaring with intentions of making him swim for it.
