I first heard Kendric Lamar almost 10 years ago, when I had an apprenticeship with this one sculptor who was personally interested in afroamerican culture, so when we had music on at the background while working, it'd be anything from old classic New Orleans jazz to more modern stuff they were not playing on finnish radio in 2018. This has nothing to do with anything currently happening at the moment, I just happened to remember it. Just two whitest motherfuckers on the planet sitting quietly in a room together, not talking, listening to To Pimp A Butterfly while gluing together ice cream stick seats for a miniature swimming pool.

Finnish Christmas online radio is here again, available for 3 months all around the world! Choose from 8 totally different Christmas playlists:
Jouluradio plays all sorts of Christmas songs, from classics to jazz. It gets more versatile the closer to Christmas we get. Songs in Finnish, Swedish, English and Estonian. A good place to listen to famous Christmas songs in Finnish :3
Julradion plays Swedish Christmas songs only. Great if you're studying Swedish!
Kauneimmat joululaulut plays the most beloved Christmas songs, both in Finland and over the world. This is the classic Christmas online radio for everyone.
Lasten jouluradio plays Christmas songs for kids.
Popjoulu brings you all the beloved pop and dance Christmas songs. Plays mainly songs in English, as pop Christmas songs aren't a big thing in Finland.
Rouhea joulu plays only heavy metal Christmas songs - probably as the only channel in the world! Heavy metal Christmas songs are very loved in Finland. If you've fed up with the joyous Christmas songs, then this channel is worth of checking!
Klassinen joulu plays very melancholic, slow and occasionally depressing Christmas songs - exactly what we Finns love and call as the classic, traditional Christmas. Plays also lots of hymns and instrumental songs. This is a channel for those who hate happy-go-lucky Christmas songs.
Happy Holidays plays all sort of happy Christmas songs, also old classics from the golden decades.

A book that left you disappointed?
This is gonna sound like an odd answer because it’s a children’s book but it’s the only one I could think about atm. This one:
It’s originally finnish, I just know the swedish translation.
Anyway, it’s about these two dudes who has won a trip to a large water park, with cool water slides, big jacuzzis, all that jazz. But instead they accidentally go to a daycare with a similar sounding name! How silly!
But even little baby me got disappointed because I so badly wanted them to actually go to a water park. Like, going to a water park is SO much more fun than going to a daycare. Why can’t I read about that instead?
Honestly as a kid, and still today, I just love to be in water, so I really hated when characters in books had the opportunity to go swim in pools or water in general and they didn’t do it. There was another children’s book about a girl who was with her parents at a resort and she didn’t like to swim in the pool and rather wanted to look at little sheep and 5yo me was like ”this is the most unrelateable character I’ve ever encountered”

About Me
Hello! My name is Biehtár, and I am a fully Nonspeaking Autistic person from birth. My Instagram is @nonspeakers.r.us and that's where I mainly post! I am new to Tumblr, I'm still learning my way around. About me (Autism Related): -Nonspeaking, full time AAC user -Level 3, High Support Needs -Borderline Intellectual Disability -Diagnosed at age 3 -Visibly Autistic
About me (non-Autism related): -I am Indigenous (mixed Sámi and Inupiaq) and grew up with both of my cultures -I am Visually Impaired -I love Star Wars, exotic pet care (animals that aren't dogs and cats), and jazz theory!! -I love love reptiles and birds -I am a jazz and sometimes classical contrabassist and pianist -I speak Swedish, Finnish, Northern Sámi, Inupiaq, and English! Things to Know: -I use support needs terms, and occasionally the term "low functioning" to describe myself ONLY and nobody else. -I prefer "Nonspeaking" rather than "Nonverbal" when referring to me -I do NOT reclaim the r-slur, but I do not take place in slur discourse either. -I am very new to Tumblr. I am still figuring my way around.
Happy to meet everyone!

Hi, the Finnish Duolingo course has the phrase, "this band/song grooves like a moose" (Tama bändi svengaa kuin hirvi). Is that a common phrase in Finnish?
Tämä bändi svengaa kuin hirvi.
I personally have never used it and barely ever heard it, but it is technically a real phrase at least. I don't know where it comes from, though. I found an "ask anything" library service saying it comes from the Finnish dub of Disney's The Jungle Book, but somebody has commented below the answer that this cannot be the case because music magazines had used it at least 12 times before the film was released in Finland. He suspects it's an inside thing from jazz circles (because an album review basically says so) and that somebody translating the film had heard it.
In Europe, we usually speak of elks (from British English) rather than moose.

8/25/24.
Thanks again to Monorail Music and their emails that regularly bring diverse and amazing sounds my way. A recent email highlighted the Finnish label Ultraääni Records. Many of the releases tend toward jazz, but Ville Pirinen Combat School is a Finnish psych-rock gem.
Think Goat or Dungen combined with the melodies of Per och Olof (one of my favorite releases in the past several years - I go back to this one all the time).
As a bonus, you get some really cool artwork.

Hi! Today I'm planning to draw five Käärijä fanarts while watching Centaurworld with Finnish dub, and also write a letter to Käärijä to be sent via Warner's fanmail address. I'm slightly worried what will be the state of my mind at the end of the day lol but the whole fandom seems deceased after this week so I won't look that out of place, right?
Also my keyboard finally got updated and now I have easy access to such hit emojis as 🫡 or 🥹
ALSO one of my first thoughts this morning was "Paidaton Riehuja jazz cover"
