Written by Delvin I want to share with you my personal story, one that proves it’s never too late to change the narrative of your life. If you’ve been struggling and feeling like turning your life around is an impossible feat, let me be living proof that it’s not true. You can do it, but it requires a burning desire and the strength to take action. Everyone’s situation is unique, and my journey…

I HATE tiktok and the Internet in general rn for the obsession with "oh this person's smellyyy" "Brother it STINKS over here" "BOO 💧🧼🧽🚿" and stuff like that. I wish I could put into words how demeaning and patronising that whole idea is and people implying anyone they don't like doesn't wash.
For one there's something grating about being insulted in a manner like we're in nursery again. But also WHY is that the go to insult. Why do you associate these things? Especially to those you deem "chronically online". Like I don't want to sound pathetic but it feels so nasty to me.
is it extreme to say this feels tied to ableism? And classism too?

Starlo's personality
I'm still confused about this man's 'true self,' gotta admit. How much of 'himself' IS there in 'North Star'?
What we know about real Star:
He's a nerd/geek obsessed with westerns; that's where he got the inspiration to build WE
He looks different than with the hat on and used to wear braces
Was shy in his teenage years around Ceroba (no idea how he acted normally) + couldn't confess to her
His mom (after killing him) says how he's never been the one to follow rules. I wonder what she meant by that. Rules, like, you're supposed to hate humans like everyone else or rules, like, no sneaking off to practice your shooting and lasso skills? Both?
Ed describes the 'old him' as a fearless leader and as a monster who could 'make his own fun in the little things' (you mean he used to be more humble but at the same time remained an ambitious risk-taker?)
Is insecure about where he comes from and what he looks like
We don't have enough info to know what he was like as a kid. I'm curious if absolutely everything about North Star is the opposite of Starlo (I don't think it is); both are kind and protective. Still, I can't help but wonder if the Starlo after Showdown, in both routes, is the real him or not. Maybe 50% yes and 50% no
Just from the end credits, the only thing I got about him was that he's kind and friendly and optimistic and charming (North Star is this way too, but more exaggerated). Nothing new
So maybe Starlo IS North Star, but more modest (aka not as exaggerated)
I'm curious about your thoughts guys.
Also I forgot to mention how he wanted to plan a PARTY for Kanako, in neutral says that the PARTY in the saloon was great (and the letter he sent was pretty charming), wants to accompany Ceroba in the Steamworks, is open about how he feels (immediately openly confronts Ceroba and calls her out; he's assertive), not afraid to get physical if it means protecting Clover & Martlet, can be pretty loud (like when he spotted Clover after sparing him in neutral, he was like "DEPUTY!!!"
I'm left wondering if all this is the real him or not. I think it is. Just maybe toned down a bit :) It's the only explanation for the fact he's been doing all this for a really long time and never showing signs of wanting to stop/that it exhausted him

thinking today about the parallel between Maximus’ motto “strength and honor” and Proximo’s motto “shadows and dust”
#and also! maximus’ little mini-motto ‘‘dust and air’’#just the way those catchphrases sum up the characters’ mindsets so well#maximus is a man who values strength as a way to survive and provide and protect#and honor as a way of life that keeps him fixed on the right path#he’s a man of unswerving devotion#he finds his indentity in those attributes#and of course he loses himself for awhile when he gives up on those values#it’s only when he hears proximo’s motivational speech that he decides to live again#he remembers his own pep talks to his men to have strength and honor#i LOVE the full circle moment when maximus says strength and honor to juba#he’s the general again and he has a new closest trusted friend#but then! proximo as the pessimistic fatalistic foil to maximus’ unswerving belief in a better way#when maximus asks proximo if he remembers what it meant to have trust UMPH#but proximo seeing men as nothing but shadows (pretenders and figments without a chance at life) and dust (doomed to die and vanish forever#he sees himself that way too#on the outside he’s a big tough gladiator trainer with a wealthy lifestyle and a famous name#but he knows ultimately he will become shadows and dust#he even says it as his last words because that’s what he’s becoming#but!! the fact that it’s worth it to him!#he believes enough in maximus’ strength and honor that his own shadows and dust isn’t purely hopeless anymore!#still fatalistic and existential but in a less depressing way#and maximus with dust and air hhhaaaahhgggh#everything is dust and air (fleeting and intangible) without his family to return to#i could write essays on this topic#gladiator#maximus#maximus decimus meridius#gladiator 2000#russell crowe#text posts

I do think Tony and Carmela are an example of the trend in most fictional narratives for male rage to come from being denied something you feel you deserve (acceptance, freedom, love, a fair shot, or in this case a family of origin that loved him and a chance at a healthy adult life), and for female rage to come from exceeding your capacity to absorb the cruelty of others, usually men.

i am going to stand on my Raph Is The Sun soapbox forever ftr. not that anyone has said not to.
i don’t mean that in an “everything and everyone revolves around raph all the time, bc he’s the most important one of them all” way. bc i’ll reiterate forever that there is no one member of this family who is the Most Important or most special, there is no member of this family who would be the most or least devastating to lose. like. if the hamatos lose anyone they’re never fully recovering.
i do mean what i say in the general sense of raph being a source of warmth and support, and in the sense that he does a lot of holding everyone together.
but more than anything when i say raph is the sun and his family is his solar system i mean like
raph isn’t the sun bc he’s the most important one that everyone revolves around, he’s the sun bc without a planetary system, a sun isn’t a sun. and i think so much of raph’s sense of personal identity and purpose is wrapped up in the roles he serves for his family so like. it just all checks out

One Day You'll Smile Again.
Kids these days cry over boys, but honestly, it's important to remember that these feelings won't last forever. What feels so important today will eventually just be a small part of your story, so keep your head up. Focus on yourself and everything will fall into place.

when will genshin give us any sort of information on the underground intelligence network? we don't even have a name for it... GIVE US A CRUMB. A SINGLE ONE, I BEG.
#like. okay they just dropped that an underground mysterious group was watching diluc go rampant around teyvat against the fatui and were#like omg slayyy and he got into the organisation and reached the upper ranks and then they dipped#who are these people?? what's their goal?? how come there's members willing to sacrifice their identity and previous lives to be a part#of it?? i am on my knees begging for something more about them 😩#if we don't find out who the msyerious man that saved diluc and introduced him to the organisation is what even is the point#seriously though how come this organisation is so vast and up to all the nation's business but so far we have NOTHING on it besides what#we know from diluc's lore??#it's kind of bonkers if you think about it actually#being anti-fatui and being so incredibly resourceful and seemingly powerful since they saved diluc's life and diluc himself is quite the#unusual person strength wise#obviously we don't know what happened but it's just so intriguing#i wonder if other characters could work for the organisation too?!#i want to know how this organisation was formed so bad#i think the motive for their existence intrigues me so much because i'm so sure the fatui and the tsaritsa aren't the bad guys#obviously they do a lot of questionable things and it's fair that people like diluc and others that have been hurt by them want to#bring justice into the world but i doubt the tsaritsa has bad intentions#i think that's also why i like the theory of crepus being the missing harbinger só much#i would pay so much for diluc to have a realisation moment in regards to his father and the fatui#i just think that sort of character exploration would be so much fun#but regardless of that i am gnawing at hoyoverse front door pleading for more on the underground organisation#truly one of the things i'm most curious about in genshin

Speaking of all that i am finally sorting more things out for the War of Flies in my lore. Originally i was just going to have it be a territory dispute but i think im going to make the clan that Phrauge fought discover things that they Shouldn't have about phrauge.
Trolen has a GIANT labyrinth type situation SUUUPER deep underneath plague and theres various ways to access this labyrinth. The burrow market namely has a tunnel system that leads to it that Phrauge has heavily guarded. I'm thinking that the clan that phrauge sniped has a bigger/safer access point to this labyrinth, and was threatening to reveal it given that Trolen Hoards Dead Imperial Bodies To Play With Like Dolls (make emperors out of). Despite Phrauge belonging to the god Anura, Trolen has ties in the private council, so when the pc discovered that this clan had this information, they immediately went to stifle it.
Ofc other clan retaliates, which leads to a several year long war w a LOT of tensions bc news cld slip at any moment. U kno. But phrauge digs up stuff abt the opposing clan and at one point it turns to a stalemate where one side is just Waiting for the other to try and drop anything.
The other clan finding a way to blast the citizens of phrauge with the information regarding the labyrinth (which was previously forbidden from the public per the dragons of vermin), info regarding the pc, etc. etc. Is what leads to phrauge straight up decimating the other clan with the help of Trolen & Pentes, & those two perform what is called the Erasure. Aka they wiped everyones memory of the events and replaced it with the regular ole territory dispute war. But it only reached a certain amt of distance, and for phrauge citizens who were out of the country, they still remember what the dispute was originally about.
Anura is trying to reverse the erasure especially as those who remember are starting to become more & more confident, and the general public is starting to question like. WHY theres no dragons left of the other clan. Let alone why theyre not even allowed into the territory theyve supposedly won. Bc while the malignant redwood IS dangerous, phrauge born citizens (pre war) know how to navigate the forests bc they were previously allied with the opposing clan, and were on decently good terms. Esp in regards to the sciences & study of the redwood. So its like. Why would the clan suddenly decide to take over this territory when they had access to it, and why did they go as far as to wipe out the entire clan. And why is there no documentation of the war. Why can no one remember what they did to the clan. Half of the soldiers who fought in the war dont even remember going through the clans cities let alone remember the battles after the 3rd year of the war. How does an entire army not remember anything past a certain point.
Etc

Have you read ACOTAR? I’m reading them currently and can’t decide if I like them or not
nope, i started it a couple of years ago but didn't like it, so i dnf pretty early into the book. sjm and i simply don't click. her stories and her writing just aren't really for me, i guess. i heard that the second book in that series is pretty good, so maybe that will sway your opinion?

I know every agent after the class story makes that joke about how they're jobless and homeless, but it only settled in for me how Eight feels about it after I finished Secrets of the Enclave as well.
He was definitely bouncing between masters and jobs, with the latest being the SIS and the CEDF (mostly Saganu), which I like to joke that Saganu is like his foster stepdad who lets this delinquent crash on his couch with an open-door policy when he gets fired from his job or his latest adventures don't pan out despite being 10 years older than him max, but he's on the fence about whether either of these places are really where he wants to stay. I also like to picture Eight laying down on a fancy chaise lounge like he's seeing a shrink whenever he visits Saganu who is also sitting in a nearby chair and tiredly asking what he wants to do with his life from here, lol.
The SIS...has been lackluster. It's been interesting getting to work for them and better with encouragement from Theron, but he can't see himself doing it long term and he's already pissed off every Sith in 2 square miles after about 2-3 jaunts in Imp space. The war was never very meaningful to him, and he gets the sense that it'll die down soon if it gets left alone without him fanning the flames.
The Chiss are home too, but that's complicated, and he knows he's not one of them. He'll never be despite all that he's done for their people. Theirs is a proud race and even if Saganu and Nosta swear House Miurani will always hold him in high esteem, he sticks out like a sore thumb amongst their populace and the intricacies of their society elude him. Not to mention someone with such a violent past as his doesn't quite fit in their non-confrontational policies, and he only does private hits to get around loopholes for Saganu. (I'm still livid I didn't record the stupid little blaster twirl and grin he did after shooting Syndic Zenta point blank as if he didn't just kill somebody in cold blood. Stop showing off.) As much as he could peacefully eke out his days in their service, it's dull to him and neither he nor Nosta have gotten over their psychological traumas enough to face each other fully.
The Alliance in his storyline is also effectively disbanded immediately after the Traitor Arc, so he has no home there in the first place-- along with mostly negative connotations. Lana and Theron will always nab him if given the chance, but all three of them need space after the garbage fire of an alliance they made.
So what is he doing now besides having an identity crisis?
This doesn't help the growing list of random jobs he's hopped on and off, but I actually feel as if...he could be recruited by the Imperial Reclamation Service. By temporary contract of one Talos Drellik, because if there's one thing those archaeologists are in short supply of, it's muscle. Eight would be shocked too when given the offer: "do I look like a researcher to you?" and Talos would cheerfully deflect by pointing out his thirst for understanding Sith like Jadus and his own affinity with the Dark Side, to which Eight has no rebuttal.
It's true; he does secretly dream of a world where everyone can communicate and connect with one another through the Force, or non-Force users can co-exist with Force-users without being shut out from one another. Jadus' protection allows him to be incorruptible from places steeped in the Dark Side, and he's a rare and capable agent who would be better protection than a Sith who would most likely steal artifacts for their benefit rather than help the Service reclaim them.
And, Talos would add, you might find that preventing and safekeeping relics of untold power is not unlike saving the galaxy from conspiracy, my friend. The Reclamation Service battles entire legions of separate armies in a relic arms race each day! You'll never want for excitement and bloodshed, if that is your calling.
Eight would harumph, but he'd cave; he's rather weak to the thrill of adventure that means something to him for once. And if it helps him reconnect or eventually reunite with Jadus, who is out there somewhere...well, he'll take any chance.
