Okay so Stan getting kicked out WAS NOT FORD'S FAULT and I'm tired of people blaming him for it. It was Filbrick's fault for actually being the one to kick Stanley out. Ford was only at fault for being a fucking teenager and listening to authority around him and internalizing that shit (kinda).

After Stan is kicked out, I think Filbrick spun it so that not only was it a good thing that Stan was gone, but that it was justified. The little he'd say about it was that Stan was never going to amount to anything and that he was just dragging Ford down, so thank God he's gone.

And though it hurt, I think Ford tried to internalize that (and mostly failed). He tried to tell himself it was justified because if it wasn't then what happened was horrible. And he did nothing to stop it. (He wouldn't have been able to stop it anyway.)

It's basically him wallowing in guilt and using "no, this was justified" as a really, reeeeally bad defense that he clings to for years and years afterward, to the point of him even saying so in the journal. He clings to it hard, and it's only after Stan's sacrifice in Weirdmageddon that he's able to finally go ".......no wait".

Like, without Filbrick (and later Bill) constantly telling him that it was justified, and a good thing, and don't worry about him he's FINE, I think Ford would have forgiven Stan on his own WAY earlier. It might have taken a few years, but it wouldn't have been over a decade.

And Bill never would have been able to tell Ford it was justified if Filbrick hadn't done that first.

A random dream I had last night

So you know this?

Well, in my dream, it was raining SUPER hard and Stan ended up fainting due to the cold. I was talking a walk outside (with full rain gear and an umbrella ofc) when I saw his small body curled up on the sidewalk and idk some sort of maternal rage went through me. I walked over to him and checked his pulse before taking off my yellow raincoat and wrapping him in a blanket burrito. I picked him up, whispered soothing words to him, and kinda just…walked away with him. So yeah, I pretty much just kidnapped Stan. It’s okay, I’ll come back for Ford later.

Here's a thought to fuck y'all up

Did Mabel and Dipper's dad even know about Stan? Did Shermie? And I don't mean Stanford I mean Stanley

Did Shermie know he had another brother? Did Mabel and Dipper's dad know he had another uncle?

Did Shermie ever think it's weird that his brother that he was probably told has twelve fingers and then when he meets him he only has ten? Did Shermy ever think it's weird that his super smart brother isn't actually as smart as his parents said?

Can you imagine how painful that would be for Stan? Sure it's easy to pretend to be somebody you're not in front of people you don't know especially if you're a con man like Stan

But in front of your family? To pretend to be your twin brother that's stuck in another dimension because of a fight that you two had and now you have to assume his identity and act like you never existed because your parents didn't think you were worthy to be mentioned because they saw you as some big screw up who will never amount to anything?

That's really fucking depressing man

EVER SINCE I FOUND ALL THE STAN CONTENT ON THE WEBSITE I'VE BEEN LOSING MY MIND OVER THE BILL/STAN PARALLELS AND BILLS BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS HIM IN GENERAL SO I'M JUST GONNA LAY OUT WHAT I NOTICED HERE BEFORE I EXPLODE.

Stan and Bill were both mama's boys, with very loving and concerned mothers, while their fathers were nowhere near as kind to them. (This is an inference on Bill's part, as his father is never mentioned and all we get is his name, while his mom is mentioned multiple times in a fond manner)

They took their father's hats with them when everything fell apart, as seen from the explicit mention of 'his father's fez' in Stans poem and one of the parent cutouts in Bill's family photo having a tophat.

They were looked down upon unfairly despite not doing anything wrong (Stan failing academically and not living up to his parents expectations & Bill being able to see the third dimension and getting seen in a negative light because of it).

They lost their homes and families because of an accident they themselves caused.

They turned to unsavory practices after losing everything.

I dunno, I just think all these similarities as well as how intensely Bill projects on Stan (likely seeing himself in him) when he goes into a rage from clicking 'how he beat me' multiple times is probably important to some extent. This has to mean something, please tell me I'm not the only one hyperanalyzing all this-

Thinking about an AU where Stanley actually did make it big. He's still living out of his car when some music agent hears him singing to himself or playing guitar or something, and they offer him a chance.

In a matter of weeks, he's got a song made (he goes for a rock/metal genre) and he drops a single. By a stroke of luck, it explodes. Suddenly he's handed a check with more zeros than he's ever seen. He's practically handed a nice apartment and an entire team of people to help him make more music.

Stan throws himself into it. He crafts a whole rocker persona, starts calling himself Knucklehead because it sounds cool. He's half convinced it's all a dream, half sure this is his greatest ruse yet. Soon he's released another single. Then another. Then an album. Then they're asking if he wants to do live shows.

His music plays on radios, on TV. There's posters with his face on them (he keeps his mullet for the scruffy rocker look). He hears people rave that his songs are raw, are real (they are; they're all about past mistakes and fighting for survival and being a disappointment).

One day, Filbrick Pines gets a letter in the mail, from the son he's seen on TV the past few months. It's a check, for exactly one million dollars. "Told you. -Knucklehead" is all the message says.

Stanford, who is still in college, has watched from a distance as his brother rose to stardom. He's proud of him, and one day he gets a letter in the mail, too, which is just Stan gloating for three pages before he asks if they can catch up, admits that he misses his brother. Stanford packs up and goes to him immediately.

Idk where this all goes, but I've been unable to get @pinkchup 's art of Stanley playing guitar out of my head since I first saw it. Just- Stan getting a chance to get on a stage, scream sing his feelings, and prove his dad wrong. Yeah.

(OH and years down the line, when Stan's retired, Dipper and Mabel discover that one of their favorite classic rock/metal singers, Knucklehead, is actually related to them when they find a box of Stan's old merch in his office. O.O)

The grand family tree of the Pines! A commission from Maxiluna!

משפחה זה לא רק יתרון בשבילנו, זה הכל ויותר.

"Family is not just an important thing for us, it's everything and more."

I attribute the original English quote to @mymanyfandomramblings, on her take of her next-gen Pines family tree. It is subsequently translated into Hebrew by @thegoodduckfan.

So, this is my take on the family tree, which also includes many of the unseen family members such as the Pines parents (Sarah and David), Sherman and his wife, Wendy's Mom and the other Northwests. Perhaps I would have added Abigail Northwest (an ancestor who appeared in The Book of Bill), but that's a couple more generations I would need to pay more for.

In my next-gen series, Dipper married Pacifica and they have their adorkable triplets. Meanwhile, Mabel married Kevin Corduroy and both have a pair of redhead twins.

And now to the individual portraits.

Filbrick and Caryn

The Grunkles! And Mabel knitted for them a larger Hannukah sweater!

Shermie and his wife, Michelle Pines. I headcanon that Shermie is the elder of the Grunkles, and he had gone to the Vietnam War for a time, which explained his absence during the flashbacks of A Tale of Two Stans.

The Pines parents David and Sarah! For David, it's based on the Tumblr "stemboification" post, since Hirsch mentioned he works in IT. For Sarah, I headcanon she's a museum curator. At the point of this commission, I haven't considered the possibility they might be divorced, but still, I believed they have sorted out their marital issues when the twins were away during the summer.

The Northwests and their "better lifestyles than ours". Though there's a price to pay for carrying their legacy...

Auldman was mentioned in Journal 3 as Preston's father. I haven't thought much of Adeline, though she might be also from a family of equal status. I headcanon that Priscilla was an actress, or at least a child of one.

The Corduroys! There's nothing really definitive for Wendy's Mom, besides that she isn't "present in the series", although some speculated she could have died in service as a soldier. Shannon Corduroy, Dan's wife, has black hair, which is also a throwback to the design of Pilot Wendy.

And then to the newest generation of Pines-Corduroys! Or is it Corduroy-Pines? I have Mabel and Kevin married earlier than Dipper and Pacifica. I attribute the idea to the ship to J_COTW, who wrote his take on a dipcifica next-summer series A Return to the Falls. The ship also inspired me to write an April Fools fic introducing this pair of mischievous twins.

And Dipper, Pacifica and the adorkable triplets Nita, Nilam and Taka! As we can see, the dorkiness really runs in the family.

So I know some of the more current theories is that Stan didn’t need glasses until he was much older or that he only wears them to look more like Ford, but can I offer:

• Stan needed glasses around the same time Ford did as a child, but Filbrick wouldn’t budget for them because “he wouldn’t use them anyway” or “he would just break them”

• This is the real reason Stan always copied off of Ford. Because his brother’s desk was closer than the chalkboard and therefore easier to see.

• Additionally, Stan didn’t want to admit that he needed glasses and his family (supposedly) couldn’t afford them, so he quickly just embraced the “slacker” persona

• When Ford disappears into the portal, Stan finds an old pair of his glasses and tries them on out of curiosity. They aren’t a perfect match to his prescription, but the difference is enough that he either keeps wearing them or scrounges up enough money from the Murder Hut to get his own.

• This made reading the journals a little easier for him until he realized that he actually retained a lot of that information he’d copied from Ford. Had he had the resources and support to continue his education, he probably would have done quite well if he only had some glasses
