Long time no see!

This was supposed to be a longer post, but my decision to return to my preferred brush and taking a bit more time in how I approached certain panels slowed me down quite a bit - the next pages will be finished next weekend.

I do love the Dr Pine puppet AU, what's the story behind it?

Oh my God were you not here for Science Time with Dr Pine?

Okay so here’s the quick version

After Stanley Pines gets kicked out of his home at 17, he jumps from job to job all over the country, and eventually lands a gig with an up and coming kids TV show centered on puppets, called Poppy Avenue. (This is a knockoff, gravity falls version of Sesame Street)

Stan, in a brilliant moment of inspiration and missing his twin, creates a puppet character named Dr Pine, a lovable scientist puppet who teaches kids about the joys of science, all while being supportive and sweet, just like Ford used to teach him when they were kids. The puppet has glasses like ford, a lab coat, the whole nine yards, it’s very clearly a play on Ford. Stan starts his own segment on Poppy Avenue called Science Time with Dr Pine, where he talks through scientific concepts and runs basic experiments for kids

The show. Takes off.

Science Time with Dr Pine hits it off big with the youth, and soon Poppy Avenue is off the ground sprinting, gaining momentum as literally the most popular kids show on television

And one day, while Tate and the Mcguckets are at his house, Ford catches an episode. He overhears a very familiar voice, one he hasn’t heard in close to ten years.

It’s Stan. Stan, the voice behind a puppet that looks just. Like Stanford. Dr. Pine.

Ford becomes utterly enraged.

How dare Stanley make a mockery of him so blatantly? How dare his twin brother (lovingly) create such a (accurate) visage of his image, and use it to (educate) slander something so close to his name on TV? CLEARLY this is all a ploy to get back at Stanford, to make fun of him, and this will not stand.

Ford absolutely despises Dr Pine. But, no one else knows that it’s STAN, his brother, who’s voicing the puppet (Stan is using a fake name at the studio) and Ford certainly won’t be the one to tell their FAMILY, so what to do?

This AU basically is all about Dr Pine, a puppet created to uphold in memory the childhood Stan lived, with someone so invested in science, and How much Dr Stanford Pines, the person the puppet is modeled after, HATES THAT DAMN PUPPET.

Au but like nothing changes except waddles is a slightly deeper shade of pink, and that somehow causes a butterfly effect so hard it moves gravity falls to Florida and bill Is just insanely confused

Au, where Stan doesn't break the science project but Ford still loses. Instead, Stan's shitty project 'footbot' gets him into West Coast Tech. He accidentally created a new element when it explodes or something.

Filbrick wants his millions, so it's college or the streets. Stan goes to college expecting to flunk out, but he keeps passing his assignments

This is because Ford moves in nearby and is seething in the bushes, but he wants to help his brother, so he helps him a bit. He's too good to actually cheat for Stan, so instead, he keeps him from falling behind. Like he throws rocks at Stan's window to make sure he gets up for his tests or signs him up for tutoring when he struggles in a subject. (Definitely not Ford in disguise) Plus Stan isn't dumb so he actually starts to learn.

Stan is trying his best to fail but can't because Ford is literally creating Rube Goldberg machines to aid his brother.

I haven't really been keeping up with the Dr Pine AU but I did read the post about Ford "choking" Dr Pine, AKA Stans wrist, and can't help but think about Stan, Ford, and Fidds meeting up a while after The Incident to maybe have lunch or something so they can talk and tease Ford about what happened and stuff and Ford is acting all grumpy until he notices Stan has some bruises forming on his wrist and Ford immediately knowing why and feeling super guilty

15 minutes!!! Oh my goodness, Ford is gonna be mad about that one for a while

I nearly died laughing at your Science time with Dr. Pine au and couldn't help but draw something for it.

Also, has anyone ever compared Dr. Pine and Dr. Pines? Like one of those internet side by sides. I'd imagine users would be making jokes about it left and right.

First of all, i LOVE your art, your lines are so?? Silky and delicious, and i love that Ford's chosen weapon for puppetcide is a knife. Its so old fashioned and barbaric and totally something he'd use

Secondly, BOLD of Stanley to think that, by the time the internet rolls around, Ford ISN'T on every forum and fan site dedicated to Dr Pine out there. That man sees any and all comparisons between him and Dr Pine in HOURS, if not minutes.

I love the idea that Dr Stanford Pines, PHD extraordinare and generally a pretty respectable man in many fields, will legitimately go fucking insane over the internet (and in real life) over a puppet. Its a surefire way to get the man mad enough to make a spelling error, which to Ford is like getting mad enough to set a trailer park on fire.

I like to think that like. Post 90s era, remember Stan and Ford probably made up early 90s? Late 80s? Ford is pretty well known. He's had his research published, he's been on television a few times (going after that news anchor was a big one, no one has attributed him trying to strangle the puppet to HIM) and is generally liked and respected. Think in levels of fame as slightly less than Neil degrass Tyson.

Which makes it all the more INSANE that he will actually respond on online forums and whatnot if you mention the similarity between him and Dr Pine, the puppet.

You could be in the most secluded, unpopular place ever on the internet, but if you even ELUDE to the mere IDEA that "Hey Dr Stanford Pines and Dr Pine share some similar traits! Isnt that funny!"
