Ravi being the one to tell Buck that Eddie has been offered a job that will make it even less likely that Eddie will return to LA - because he has now got a house he owns, his kid back and will be back doing a job that he loves and is good at - making Buck feel even more abandoned than he already is.

I love the way the show is using Ravi to explore and deal with Bucks abandonment issues!

but now Bobby - his father figure - has died and Buck has no idea how to deal with his grief but he’s been holding it together the only way he knows how (with all his online tests and using charts and numbers to determine everyone else’s grief so he doesn’t have to deal with his own because he doesn’t know how and cant let himself break because Bobby told him the others were going to need him and he can’t fail Bobby and his last words), and now he’s discovered Eddie has a job offer in El Paso - something that will take Eddie away from him forever (in his mind).

Eddie’s presence back in LA - in the house (even if its Bucks furniture in there and Eddie is on the couch) has been a safety blanket that Buck has been clinging to and it is now going to come to an end. Eddie’s going to go back to the new life he’s been building in El Paso - that Buck isn’t a part of (physically) leaving Buck abandoned

Sanji and Usopp during The Sabaody Incident™ won't leave my mind.

Usopp standing in front of Sanji protectively because he is wounded and he can't fight, so Usopp will do it for him ("I'll do what you can't do").

There is just something about Sanji's expression when he realizes he might actually lose Usopp. This is my interpretation, at least. He is literally frightened.

Usopp helping Sanji stand up to run away. This is crucial for something I want to point out later: Sanji needs help to stand up. (Also, Brook disappears trying to protect them both and saying he will do anything to save them even if it costs him his life. I am feeling sick).

Sanji being self-sacrificing and blaming himself for not being able to protect them/act sooner is not new. But he does manage to gain the strength to fight when Usopp is the only one left with him and the possibility of losing him is even more real now.

The thing that I love the most about this is not Sanji sacrificing himself for Usopp, because he does that. He is like that. But Usopp not running away or moving in the slightest because he refuses to leave Sanji on his own.

Something I'd like to point out too is that Sanji actually touches Kuma before Usopp disappears. He tries to fight and protect him and Kuma could've easily sent Sanji to Momoiro Island right away, and yet Sanji was just sent flying far from the scene and forced to see Usopp disappear in front of him.

And I am not saying that "not being able to protect both Brook and Usopp (especially Usopp) is needed for Sanji to realize he has to become stronger and find more reasons to go back with the crew" but not being able to protect both Brook and Usopp (especially Usopp) is needed for Sanji to realize he has to become stronger and find more reasons to go back with the crew.

Not to mention that we can't deny (right after Water 7/Enies Lobby) that Usopp is one of Sanji's strongest bonds within the crew. This specific scene focusing on them both is more than enough to prove it.

Remember what I said about Sanji needing help to stand up seconds ago? Well. This is him the moment Usopp disappears. What adrenaline and the power of love do to a mf.

The Spoogle Calendar

A/N: A little one shot inspired by @jedi-starbird’s post about how the Chancellor’s plan is foiled because Obi Wan’s social life has gotten out of hand enough to need a calendar and a spreadsheet. Anakin had actually had enough sleep for once in his entire existence and that was probably why he was feeling a little more happy than normal. He had been assigned to protect the Chancellor on a routine day, just attending a few meetings and hanging out in the office, so he was fairly checked out, thinking of his nice soft bed back at the Temple and if he might have time to sneak in a holovid with Ahsoka before dinner. He’d seen Padmé earlier and she had whispered that she’d have the day off tomorrow, so he was also trying to figure out if he could call in sick to work as the Chosen One to see her, which was why he didn’t hear the Chancellor at first. 

He looked up, cracking a half grin. “I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” If Palpatine looked slightly taken aback by Anakin’s cheerfulness he quickly recovered. “My boy, I’m afraid to report that Master Kenobi is very likely sleeping with your wife.” He frowned. “He was seen leaving a certain senator’s residence at an ungodly hour of the night.” Anakin paused for a moment, thinking, his eyebrows drawn together. Palpatine tried to lay a comforting hand on his shoulder, but he shook his head rapidly and stood up. “That doesn’t make any sense.” Palpatine stood from behind his desk and came over to him, looking sad. “I’m sorry, Anakin, I wish-“ 

Anakin stopped in his pacing and looked at the Chancellor, confused. “… where is he finding the fucking time???” Palpatine paused, the crease between his eyebrows deepening. “I’ve heard from several reliable sources…” Anakin waved a hand dismissively and stood up. “There’s no way.” He went over to the holo table in the center of the room and turned it on. “Do you mind if I use this?” Palpatine blinked at him, but nodded his assent, and Anakin went about pulling up the spoogle calendar and the attached spexcel spreadsheet, muttering under his breath about unreliable sources. Then for good measure he found his and Padmé’s spoogle calendar too. He stared at all of it for a minute, double-checking, but no, that looked right. “Your Excellency, that’s just. Not logistically possible.” 

Palpatine came up beside him, just a little bit of fear showing in his eyes. “What is all this?” Anakin gestured to the shared spoogle calendar. “Well, you see, Chancellor, Obi Wan’s, uh… social life, is ungodly busy, and he’s only on the same planet as half these people for a few days at most, so Cody started a calendar to keep track.” He pointed at one of the days last week. “See here, in the morning he was with Quinlan but then that night he was with Cody. That sort of thing happens a lot, it’s a slow day if he’s with one person.” Anakin poked at the other calendar. “And of course, Padmé’s a senator, so she’s just as swamped, so we came up with our own spoogle calendar so we can know when we’ll be able to meet up ahead of time.” He grinned. “She’s got the day off tomorrow, actually, I had better add that.” Because he was pressing buttons he missed the look of annoyance and possibly a bit of horror on Palpatine’s face. 

Anakin glanced over at him, frowning pensively. “You should maybe be worried about unreliable sources, Your Excellency.” Palpatine blinked a few times. “… why are you keeping track of Master Kenobi’s social life?” Anakin shrugged, frowning at a time slot on the spreadsheet. He was supposed to be taking Obi Wan and Ahsoka (and hopefully Padmé!) for lunch tomorrow, but Ventress had just stolen his time slot. He moved it back and sent her a text in the group chat. “At first, I wanted nothing to do with it, but Cody added me so I knew what was going on and didn’t interrupt. But that kind of morphed overtime in helping to administrate because otherwise Cody would monopolize all of his downtime and it’s got to be fair or everyone else never gets to see him.” Anakin sighed. “Also I need to keep track of which comm to call in case of an emergency, he’s started muting me on date nights.” 

Palpatine squinted at the calendar, looking increasingly intimidated. “Does that say Ventress, my boy?” Anakin sniffed. “Yeah. She’s supposed to see him next week but she keeps stealing my time slots. It’s going to start a fight, I just know it, but I let her know in the group chat that she needs to cut it out.” He poked at the calendar, putting in the lunch date. Maybe they could go to Dexter’s. “We try not to have two Sith in the same week, so they take alternating Thursdays.” Palpatine gave him a side-eye. “There’s more than one?” Anakin grinned. “Maul and Obi Wan meet up every so often to have mortal enemies hate sex, it’s ridiculous. But there’s a pact going that no weapons or murder are allowed on date nights, on pain of death from everyone else involved. It works pretty well.” He rolled his eyes. “If we could get people to cooperate this easily about anything else we wouldn’t be fighting a war, but oh well.” 

Anakin looked over the spoogle calendar again. “Look, see, the only time Obi Wan and Padmé have been free at the same time in the past month was three weeks ago at 2 in the afternoon, and I was there for that. We got ice cream.” He scrolled forward on the calendar. “And they have tomorrow off, but I’m taking everyone for lunch. Tomorrow Obi Wan’s pretty busy, actually, Boil and Waxer have him in the morning and then Satine is picking him up at three.” Palpatine was slowly inching backward away from the holo table, although whether in horror or awe wasn’t clear. “… you’ve certainly got this well-organized.” He’d spotted the name of Jedi Master and valued advisor Luminara Unduli in a block of green on the weekend and was trying to figure out if he was horrified by that or not. Anakin caught where he was looking and grinned. “Oh, yeah, Master Luminara had to add herself to the schedule too because she can never get a hold of him either. I think they wanted to visit a new natural history museum that opened up on one of the mid levels.” 

He checked his comm, only to find a small explosion of messages, mostly from Ventress. She was probably sending threats again. He ignored it and turned back to the Chancellor. “Your Excellency, I think you really should be more careful where you’re getting that information. False information campaigns can be really damaging to military campaigns.” Palpatine nodded slowly and sank down in his desk chair, blinking slowly. “…right.” He waved a hand vaguely. “You can go now, my boy, I’m sure you have other things to attend to.” Anakin mentally did a little happy dance. Now he could go find his Padawan! Maybe they’d even have time for a bit of sparring. “Thank you, sir! Have a good day!” He turned off the holo table and practically skipped out of the room, happiness radiating from him in waves. Palpatine made a disgruntled noise of Dark Side frustration and sank down lower in the chair. He couldn’t believe that his plans were foiled by a fucking spoogle calendar. There went that plan. 

A Bonus: The Group Chat! 

A-Skywalker: Ventress, stop stealing my time slots. You’re on for next Thursday and that’s it. 

The-V-Girl: Insufferable child. I will do what I want. 

A-Skywalker: I am the administrator, bitch, I will remove you entirely. 

Codester: Technically I’m the administrator. 

A-Skywalker: You got that privilege revoked when you tried to steal him for two straight weeks. 

Obi Wan: Please stop fighting over me, I’m really not that worth it.

Satin-and-Shine: If that were true, we wouldn’t need the spreadsheet. You ready for tomorrow afternoon, honey? 

Obi Wan: Definitely! See you then! 

A-Skywalker: Oh, that reminds me. Hondo, If you’re going to kidnap him again, do it this weekend after 1 on Saturday because if Master Luminara doesn’t get to talk about the new rancor skeletons in the museum exhibit she’s going to explode. Also, we have a campaign coming up on Tuesday so he’ll need to be back by then. 

H-Ohnaka: Wonderful! I thought we might go dancing! There is a wonderful new place I just discovered on one of the moons. 

A-Skywalker: I don’t need to remind you of The Rules, right? 

H-Ohnaka: Perhaps just one more time, for everyone’s benefit. :) 

A-Skywalker: No murder, no maiming, no drugging, no injuries of any kind and if you do not return him to where he’s supposed to be on time I will come after you with a rocket launcher. 

Obi Wan: I would have sworn that I was the Master here, my very young apprentice. 

A-Skywalker: You’re the one that decided to get involved with Sith Lords. 

H-Ohnaka: Message received, my friend! I will be careful! 

Maul: not if I hijack your whole operation 

H-Ohnaka: I’m not scared of you. You need validation from Kenobi. 

A-Skywalker: Do I need to remind you of the consequences of breaking the rules? 

A-Skywalker: They involve blocking, removal from the premises and murder. 

Bail-O (Personal): Excuse me, Knight Skywalker, could you remind me of the current schedule again? 

A-Skywalker: You’ve got him next Monday morning. And then I think you set aside time for the three of you, too? 

Bail-O (Personal): Ah, yes, thank you! 

Breha-Of-Fresh-Air: Wonderful! We’re looking forward to it, I’ve got a new recipe I need feedback on. 

Obi Wan: You know, I could probably just do this myself, Anakin. You wouldn’t have to. 

A-Skywalker: Look, no offense meant but Madame Jocasta once threw you out of the Archives because the notes you were making were completely incomprehensible. 

Quin-for-the-Win: I remember that, actually. She never trusted him again. Obi Wan: I’m not that bad. A-Skywalker: I’ve seen your datapad, you are absolutely that bad. 

A-Skywalker: Also, you’re going to lunch with me, Padmé and Ashoka tomorrow and there will be no arguments. 

Codester: I was going to take him to lunch.

I just think Tallulah gets to be upset about this. “It’s not Wilbur’s fault” “He’s not a bad dad” “He loves his daughter so much” yes! These are all true! And it’s not his fault! But he’s still not there. And Tallulah has gone through so much and still hasn’t seen him, the one time he was around was the one time she wasn’t, and all she has are letters and “I’m thinking of you always” and things that used to be theirs together, but he’s still not there. She’s waited and she’s been patient and she’s loved him all the same, and he’s still not there. Like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, from the happy milestones to the traumatic events, he’s still not there.

She knows that it’s not his fault, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s absent. That in and of itself just adds to the sorrow, because she knows why he’s gone, and she’s been told time and time again it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care, she knows this - it doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting, that it doesn’t hurt, that she doesn’t yearn for her father to be there more than anything in the world, and he’s just not there.

So yes, she gets to be upset, and be caustic, and stomp her feet and write bitter messages, and be angry and vitriolic, because she’s a little girl missing her father, who feels things with her whole heart and soul - and that means she gets to feel the ugly parts of it, too.

A Defense of Benny Gecko

Benny is more of a capable leader and person than people give him credit for.

Seeing as no one challenged his position as head Chairmen for 7 years and even then he only loses the position if he’s caught, killed or forced to leave. Yes, it’s also likely House wouldn’t have allowed him to be killed but he sure as hell would of found a way to remove him if he was causing too much unrest within The Tops power structure. Even Swank and Tommy don’t outright dislike him and more so are concerned with his recent secretive and shady behavior, emphasis on recent.

Taking all we know into consideration, Benny likely knew the future direction that he wanted to take Vegas but was so caught up in the plans to acquire Vegas that he didn’t think of how to make his dream a reality. Something he admits to in canon. I see this being used as the main argument that Benny doesn’t know what he’s doing at all but I see it more in the same vein as you can’t really plan something from nothing. The transformation of Vegas is a sensitive thing that he can’t really work on until he has it. The only reason he ran to the Fort prematurely is the Courier who was causing so much of a stir he would’ve likely been found out much faster, making all that planning for nothing if he didn’t take that chance.

Benny is careful (well a lot more careful than he is regularly depicted in fanon), the Courier being able to trace him was dumb luck on their part and his hair being noticed at the Fort is a realistically small oversight that even Caesar is disappointed in because he admits Benny got farther than he should’ve been allowed by his legionaries. The fact he can plan an ambush on the Courier or tries to quickly and concisely clean up lose ends that don’t lead back to him shows he’s not just acting on impulses or in the moment decisions. Or rather he’s quite good at thinking them out, whether they work depends on how you play really. This is all to say it’s 100% believable that Benny could lead an independent Vegas (house was basically setting him up to do that). If he had known explicitly that House was setting him up to replace him, he likely would’ve bought more time by getting in closer, learning more of the system to then flip House’s edge to his favor. Again something he was doing already but likely without the knowledge of House’s feelings on him personally.

No matter what, Vegas’ future was tied to Benny; House’s plans for him, having to get the chip and if he had somehow succeeded. It’s also interesting that of all the people vying for control of the dam/Vegas, Benny’s plans are the only ones actually oriented towards a new future, not a recreation of something long past.

I’m hanging out alone in my house with Sasuke while everyone else does what the hell ever and it’s been so eventful. First night we get a really strong storm with ???? whatever but really really strong winds. I managed to grab my silverleaf tub to shelter it on the porch but the tomatoes got knocked over real good. Sasuke looked like “!?” a few times during the peak though he thankfully didn’t freak out. I found out this morning there was a lightning strike only 3 houses worth of distance from My House. Cool that explains some of the sounds. Glad it hit the shitty golf course and not anyone’s house

Following morning. Naturally, our trash bins have been blown away. Shame on me for remembering to put them out I guesssss. I spent a full hour at 7 am going up and down the street looking for them amongst everyone else’s trash bins as it was trash pickup day. I found our recycling bin ELEVEN HOUSES downwind, and only after the second lap around. Later in the day I went back and talked to the homeowners and found out that they had actually woken up to five extra trash bins piled up around theirs and they had one last mysterious trash bin left unclaimed so idc if it’s actually ours at this point I just went and adopted this one as our new trash bin.

Sasuke himself is chilling pretty much all day but! He recently had another dose of anti inflammatory shots for his arthritis and he’s clearly feeling real good bc I keep seeing him contemplating wether he can jump over obstacles he’d long given up on before the shots. I do need him not to do it because he’s Going to eat shit but it’s really good he’s feeling that well. Also he will eat gabapentin pills without hiding them in the slightest. What a good fucking dog he is. Everyone tell my brother he’s a good boy
