Why does this work so well?!

People of the Danny Phantom x DC Universe/anything Batman fandom!

Please explain to me HOW DO THESE TWO DIFFERENT FANDOMS WORK SO WELL TOGETHER?

These are two completely separate superhero properties. Sure superheroes properties in general can blend pretty well together, but I have not seen a crossover where they have blended as well as the dpxdc crossover fandom.

I don't really see as many Danny Phantom crossover fics with the Marvel Universe. And vice vera, I don't see any of the DC universe heroes really crossing over with any other superhero fandoms (besides Marvel) as well as they crossover with Danny Phantom. The only other fandom that is popular being crossed over to the DC universe is the Miraculous Ladybug fandom, and that's it's own analysis.

But Danny Phantom is a property from the early 2000s (it first aired in 2004, this show is 20 years old!) What are the chances, that these two go so well together? How did it even start?

I didn't even know this was a thing, I happened upon it when I happened upon a fic. (Bus to Nowhere, really well written story)

And this just opened up a ton of new things that the DPx DC fandom made. Especially batman!

Danny being a chaos gremlin across all of the DC universe.

Why does it work so well?

Genuinely curious here, like why don't other fandoms mesh well as this one? And how does this crossover have such awesome fics and hilarious stories?

If I were to compare it to any other fandom that could potentially work with the DC universe, like Transformers or Ben 10. (there's aliens and supervillains in those shows, they could definitely crossover in the DC universe) But I don't really see crossover fics with them. Is it the fandom? fanbase just not interested? the ideas just don't mesh well?

But for DPxDC, the ideas are abundant! Everytime I come to tumblr, I see a new prompt or fic idea for the fandom and immediately just go "that's an amazing idea!"

Not to mention the ship names!

Today we are doing something a little different… we are spotlighting an artist with amazing talent (who happens to create fantastic Jancy fanart):

To celebrate our new name, we will be holding 2 events in early 2024:

1. A fanart event, tentatively titled “We Love Jancy,” will run from February 11-14. Yes, we are ending the event on Valentine’s Day… it is Jancy, after all. 🥰

(Artists: more info, including prompts, coming soon!)

And…

2. Once our fanart event has ended, we will start our month long artist/writer collab! Meaning, we want to see all the fics inspired by the amazing fanart from our “We Love Jancy” event. We’d like to pair up writers with artists so they can create a joint masterpiece (fanart and fic). The artists can be as hands-on or as hands-off as they’d like in the process. They can say anything from “Write whatever you want!” to specifying rating guidelines, setting, etc. The only thing we ask is that the fics are Jancy centric.

We would like fics completed by March 20th as that’s the first day of Spring (new beginnings) and s5 will be bringing us new Jancy! So that gives writers a little over a month to write their fics… fics can be any length but we ask that they are at least a Drabble (100 words).

Fic writers, both new and experienced: Please be thinking about participating and sharing your talent! More info on this event will be coming soon…

Artists, as I said above, you can be as involved as you want… it’s up to you! We just ask permission to repost your art (with credit) for this event only. You can obviously also choose not to participate, ofc.

We are really excited here at Jancy Fanfic Central (soon Jancy Central!) for these two events that we hope will bringJancy shippers together to showcase all the amazing talent that lies within our community!

🎨 Kirsten’s answers to our Q&A: 🖌️

1. I first got into fanart through the Sonic The Hedgehog series, I'd look up renders and try to draw them on paper. What drew me to the fandom was seeing other peoples drawings/interpretations of the characters I liked.

2. The fandoms I’ve made fanart for are: Sonic The Hedgehog, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Undertale, Steven Universe, South Park, Attack On Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Haikyuu!!, Seraph Of The End, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Yuri!!! On Ice, My Hero Academia, Hamilton, Heathers, Ben 10, The Dragon Prince, Miraculous Ladybug, The Legend Of Zelda, Ace Attorney, Stranger Things (there's probably more but these are the ones I can remember) I don’t do fanart for a lot of these fandoms anymore but sometimes I’ll do redraws of the old fanart for the sake of comparing my progress.

3. I’m not going to do ALL the fandoms but some of my favourite characters to draw overall are Chat Noir (Miraculous), Keith Kogane and Princess Allura (Voltron), Link (Zelda), Godot and Mia Fey (Ace Attorney), Rayla and Aaravos (The Dragon Prince) Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan) and, of course, Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers (Stranger Things)

4. My muse characters are pretty much the ones listed above, I always have to sneak my favourites in lmao

5. If I absolutely *have* to get a character in I always find a way to add them into the background or do a separate doodle with said character

6. I don’t think I have a preference, actually I enjoy drawing both equally.

7. Not really, my opinions are usually based on canon media.

8. I’ve made a few OC’s, they’re usually characters designed to fit in the media I like

9. Again, I’d be here all day if i listed 3 ships for every fandom so here’s a few of my favourites: Klance (Voltron), Marichat (Miraculous), Rayllum (The Dragon Prince), Miego and Klapollo (Ace Attorney), Arumika, Yumihisu and Levihan (Attack on Titan), Gwevin (Ben 10), Sidlink (Zelda), Silvamy (Sonic), Jancy and Byler (Stranger Things)

10. I tend not to draw pairings I don’t like, the closest to this Is when I used to do OC x Canon fanart requests on DeviantArt when I was like 12

11. I’d say the main genre of art I draw is ship art/fluffy art but every once in a while I love to do a horror/creepy piece

12. Not that I can remember but I’d love to do something like this in the future

13. It’s a mix of both

14. I'll draw almost anything in terms of rating but whether I'm comfortable enough to post it is another story - the only ‘nsfw’ stuff I've actually posted is gore but even then it's been pretty mild.

15. I do use warnings bc i don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I feel like it's important to tag the usual stuff like gore, nsfw in general, any sensitive topics like abuse etc. I don't think I've had to add a warning that could be considered strange before though.

16. I don't use anything like headers or previews tbh I just post the drawings with a caption and call it a day

17. I don't title my art for the simple reason that I cannot come up with names for the life of me. The filenames of my drawings are usually just a random jumble of words or letters

18. Most of my inspiration comes from browsing random poses/references, listening to music, watching tv and movies

19. I try to get the idea sketched out as soon as I can but if not I'll just make a note of it in my notes app

21. Yes, it's usually stuff like AUs where I've gotten really invested in the idea and want to create as much of that idea as I can

22. No, the closest thing to these events is a week event for ships/characters. I don't do much of these bc I often end up procrastinating and leaving it to the last minute and then I end up stressing myself out trying to finish it in time

Arknights Crossover Prompt

With Ben 10... (yeah, I am serious)

The general ideas are simple: Omnitrix arrives on Terra (And stuff happens...). Contact with the aliens happens (Be it a single guy or the entirety of Terra). The storyline is blank from then on and can take any direction.

How it arrives is up to the writer some examples that I can offer could be:

1. Ben is transported on Terra by accident. In essence, a "what if Ben 10 was an operator in Arknights" fic.

2. The Omnitrix crashlands on Terra.

3. A character from Terra, be it an OC or someone that appears in the game, finds itself in space and gets found by the Plumbers, or someone else.

4. An object, artefact or villain from Ben 10 is found on Terra and needs to be captured. (Ex. The Contumelia Ship arrives on Terra and people take notice)

Hello, this is my first time posting on Tumblr, and the reason is that after years of reading fanfic and not writing down ideas. I finally decided to write something, specifically why these two fandoms? Well, it seemed just wrong to me that there wasn't a crossover fic for them both and, unfortunately, my main method of creating ideas is chucking something from a different fictional world to another and seeing the firework show that comes out of it.

fandom: ＷＫＭ victim: Ａctor Ｍark flavor: desperate wetting

Sometimes, when watching a film or show with Mark, his friends heard more of his opinions than they did of the actual story onscreen. This, though, was only when rewatching something, or when watching something he had little to no respect for. If he was viewing something he held in higher esteem, especially for the first time, he demanded silence and rapt attention — on punishment of dealing with Mark having taken offense for the rest of the day.

He had been away filming his own production during the release of the latest film from a top director who Mark favored more than was favored by. So, he’d say it had been scheduling conflicts that had prevented him from starring in the film, but this was somewhat wishful thinking — he’d declined the audition in the first place due to the standing conflict. So, something of a rival of Mark’s had landed the part instead. Surely, Mark would love to tear apart any perceived shortcomings in his performance, but on the first viewing, he needed to merely absorb it all — which meant he demanded silence. He still wanted companionship, though, and someone to talk at discuss with after, so his partners (Damien, the District Attorney, and Ben) had been invited to join him.

This was all well and good, really, except before the end of the film, Mark began squirming in his seat. First it was some innocuous shifting — chalked up to a simple change of position — but then it became thighs pressed together, leg bouncing, and finally, a hand shooting down to his crotch. All the while, of course, Mark hadn’t looked away from the screen, and as obvious as it was to the others that he was veritably potty-dancing on the couch, they equally well knew he genuinely didn’t notice his needs when he was too absorbed in something else, as he was now.

Ben had noticed first, and exchanged glances with the DA and with Damien as they, too, were cued in. Damien and the DA, though, were more inclined to let Mark figure it out himself than to provoke him to fuss at them about interruptions, so it was Ben who spoke up first, as well. “Master Mark?” And, when Mark didn’t react, he leaned forward, placing a hand on Mark’s shoulder. “Master.”

Mark broke his concentration with a scowl. “Whatever it is, it can wait, Ben! We’re almost to the end.”

“Sir, I’m not—”

Mark shushed him rudely, earning a sigh of annoyance that was ignored if it was heard at all.

Damien caught Ben’s eye again and shrugged, expressing a reassignment to this particular peculiarity of Mark’s. He’d figure it out sooner or later, after all. But, unlike Damien, Ben felt Mark’s bodily needs were, to some extent, his responsibility as his butler. So, he stood, moving to pause the film.

“Ben!” Mark said, sitting up indignantly.

“Master Mark,” Ben returned firmly, “I think you could do with a short break.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?!” Mark huffed. Though his concentration had been interrupted, which was often enough to reacquaint himself to his bodily needs, he’d immediately switched his focus to annoyance with the interruption, so he’d not taken stock.

“You need to use the restroom, Master.”

Mark opened his mouth, clearly planning to protest again, but now that he was forced to pay attention, he realized he genuinely was on the verge of an accident. “O-oh,” he stammered instead, hurrying to his feet. He didn’t understand why this happened to him, but in times like these, he didn’t have time to stand around thinking about it. He kept holding himself firmly with one hand, rushing out of the room. Luckily, the bathroom wasn’t too far away from the theatre room. Now that he was aware of it, his need was all-consuming — a cold sweat left him slightly clammy, and each desperate step sent little electric shocks through him.

Mark stepped over the threshold, and his need peaked — he was forced to a stop, whimpering and dancing in place just feet from the toilet. Shame flooded him; he couldn’t allow himself to lose control here — it was bad enough that he’d been just yards from the bathroom this whole time.

Mark forced himself to move, but the too-big step breached his control: A loud, hissing leak soaked into his clothes — he heard it first, piercing the near-silence, and then felt its heat, and he froze again. The delay ate up all the time he had left, though; he only barely headed off the first leak before more piss forced its way out of him. He was holding himself with both hands, now, but it did nothing to help him regain control again. He couldn’t move like this, either; he danced in place for a moment more, glaring daggers at the toilet just ahead of him. Spurts of wetness had soaked through his crotch and, as he felt piss begin to drip through his fingers, Mark gave up with a defeated whine. He let go, holding his now-soiled hands awkwardly to his sides. Glorious relief began to set in as he thoroughly soaked his pants, though Mark could hardly enjoy it.

It didn’t not feel good, though. The warmth cascaded down his legs, pooling below him. The size of the puddle betrayed how badly he’d needed to go.

When his stream subsided, he took a shaky breath, looking down at the damage. He wasn’t one for cleaning up after himself; he’d claim he wouldn’t know where to start. But he thought he should at least wash his hands, so he tip-toed out of his puddle — ineffectually, as he still tracked and dripped across the floor. The cool water from the tap contrasted with the heat still emanating from his wet pants — and his hot blush.

Before he finished, though, he heard footsteps approaching. As desperate as he’d been, he’d failed to close the door, so when he spun around to try to explain himself, he came face to face with Damien, who was holding a towel. He looked amused, but his eyes were kind as always.

Mark just pouted, pleading for sympathy rather than ridicule.

“Ben’s gone to get you some clean clothes,” Damien told him. “I brought this so that you can dry off enough to get to a shower.” This was only a half-bathroom, so Mark would have to make a trek of shame to somewhere he could clean up properly. Damien stepped around the puddle, holding the towel out to Mark, and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek when he’d handed it off.

“Thanks,” Mark mumbled glumly. He was blushing even brighter now that he knew his partners had found out — he didn’t even want to ask if they’d just assumed he wouldn't make it or if they’d heard him having his accident.

“Of course, my love. We’ll rewind the film a bit and finish up once you’re ready. …But do apologize to Benjamin, Mark, you know he’s looking out for you.”

“Yeah, I know..!” Mark huffed. He’d only needed a few more seconds… which meant he might’ve made it to the toilet if he’d listened to Ben from the start. “I-I’ll be back in a few minutes.”

This was a clear attempt at dismissal and Damien chuckled. “Not until you’re dried off — the least you can do for Ben is keep this all to one place for him to clean up.”

Mark huffed again, offended at the insinuation he might not do this responsibly, but he complied, shedding his wet things on the already-wet floor and patting himself down with the dry towel. “May I go now?” he asked sarcastically.

Damien took a long look, down and back up again, making Mark’s stomach flip with shame — and a surprising arousal — at being “checked out” after having an accident, and while still merely half-clothed to Damien’s sharp dress.

“I think you may,” Damien proclaimed with a smirk. He’d been teasing more than flirting, but made a mental note of the way Mark had reacted.

With that, Mark hurried to shower off any of the shameful remains of his accident. Ben brought his fresh clothes in while the water heated up. “Thank you, Ben,” Mark mumbled, avoiding his gaze.

Ben waited a moment, and Mark added, “and I’m sorry.” He wasn’t the best at apologies, but he was practicing.

“For what?” Ben prompted gently. (His partners were the ones making him practice.)

Mark pulled a tortured face. Ben knew already, so why’d Mark have to say it?! He thought for a long moment, trying to find accurate words. “Being, um, rude,” Mark decided on.

“You’re forgiven,” Ben said, kissing his forehead, “but please remember this next time, sir.”

This would be an unfortunately potent sensory reminder, so Mark suspected he might.

Mark kept his shower short, wanting to put this behind him as soon as possible and ensure he could still finish the film tonight. He returned to the theatre room, where his partners were talking amongst themselves.

“All better?” the District Attorney asked, shifting to allow space between them and Damien for Mark to cuddle up in — which he slid into gratefully.

“Mmhmm,” Mark mumbled.

“And did you apologize to Ben?” they asked, kissing the top of his head.

“Yes!” Mark whined, hiding his face in their chest — so he felt, as well as heard, their warm chuckle.

“Yes, he did,” Ben confirmed, again making Mark want to fuss — like they didn’t think they could just take Mark’s word.

“So, are we ready to finish the film?” Damien murmured.

Memories of everything Mark had seen thus far crept back into his awareness. He did want to finish the film — its ending, after all, was likely to influence not only his overall opinion but also his thoughts on the minutiae throughout. “Yes. Ben, could you resume it, please?” (Mark phrased his request especially politely to reinforce the fact that he could be well-mannered.)

Ben obliged with an amused smile. “Of course, Master.”

1. when the moon met the sun in the sky [reylo fantasy au | E | 71k | 20/20] — To date my proudest work, just because it was fun to try and attempt to evoke a Miyazaki-style fantasy world, and the world-building was so much fun.

"Who?" Rey asked.

She knew who. But she didn't know what else to say.

The man called Kylo Ren — Ben, her mind whispered — rolled his shoulders, a tick she'd seen before, a thousand times at least; an echo of a boy she used to know.

He seemed to notice. He took a tentative step toward her. When she flinched in response, he froze.

"Don't do that," he said, soft as a psalm. His dark eyes darted over every inch of her.

"Do what?" she asked.

"Lie."

2. Boon [reylogan heist au | E | 39k | 12/20] — This is such a niche fic in the first place because it’s a crossover between SW and Logan Lucky, but man, it was so fun and Rey/Clyde are so soft. I’d never attempted to write a heist and I obviously didn’t finish but I still have a fondness for this (permanently? IDK) on hiatus little fic.

“Your jar looks like it’s full of stars,” Sadie said, gaping at it.

“It does,” Clyde agreed. He raised his own. “Time to set them free?”

Sadie nodded, skipping into the night to release hers. As Rey turned to follow, Clyde snaked his good hand around her wrist.

“Follow me.”

He led her around the house, where the night felt denser, darker, somehow warmer. Underfoot, wild daisies swayed in the dying summer breeze.

“Here,” he murmured. She smiled at him, then twisted the top of her jar off. He followed suit. Together, they shook the little bugs free — to fly away, blinking little lights in the darkness; hazy yellow stars they might touch.

3. Crown Glass [reylo fantasy au | M | 4k | 1/1] — I love this one because it just sort of came into being; a prompt/gift one-shot that took on a mind of its own, but I got to play more with present tense and some high-fantasy elements bouncing around in my brain.

She shouldn’t be able to find it. But she does.

It stands tall, tucked away in the back of the cellar; she weaves through abandoned armor, crusted cauldrons, and shelves and shelves of spellbooks to reach it. It’s old, ancient even; she can feel that, even if she’d never set eyes on it, full-length and ringed in circles of crown glass that shimmer in the gloom.

She reaches out a hand, skimming the surface–

And then a world appears on the other side.

A room, awash in milky moonlight. A desk, buried by books. A bed…

And a man.

She draws her hand back, heart thumping as loud as the magic in her ears.

The world flickers and fades back into blackness.

4. This is the Sign You've Been Looking For [reylo modern au | E | 29k | 10/10] — My first real Reylo fic and what got me back into writing after years away, so I have to give it credit! Also my first ever AU, and Virgin artist Ben Solo and sign maker Rey were so sweet and sad but with a nice HEA.

"I'm sorry," Rey murmured, drawing close. She could only seem to look at her feet.

He pressed a large palm to her face, tilting her head up to look at him. The music filtering in from the living room was noticeably softer; vaguely, Rey recognized Elton's "Your Song" playing in the background and decided it was a good idea to rest her hands on Ben's hips.

He glanced down at her touch, swallowing hard.

"Don't be," he hummed.

5. Muse [Labyrinth canonverse fic | E | 82k | 20/20] — I have a lot of Feelings about this fic, but I have to include it even though a part of me wants to edit it into oblivion, haha. I feel like I’ve come so far as a writer since finishing this in my early twenties, but I’ll always appreciate this for how it helped me improve, for how it gave me an avenue to do more with fantasy world-building, and for the nice response it got in a small little fandom.

"Why did you give me the peach?"

He stared at her, his expression unfathomable.

"Are you going to answer me?" asked Sarah quietly.

"You know why I gave it to you," replied Jareth, "To make you forget."

"No," continued Sarah, "I know. That wasn't what I meant. Why did you give me the peach, knowing that I would never be able to leave after taking a bite?"

So I live for crossovers in this fandom as you can tell by all the dp x dc prompts I write, but there's a crossover out there that I feel is a bit underrated and deserves more content cause I'm absolutely desperate for some. This crossover is none other that dp x ben 10. I really think there's a ton of possibilities here

I mean ghosts and aliens both fall under similar categories after all. Not to mention ghostfreak is literally a ghost alien which opens up a lot of opportunities for ghostly interactions. Maybe ghostfreak is after the power of the ghost king, maybe it's just a by chance run it, maybe GiW is involved? Who knows, there's tons of room in the ben 10 timeline too they could meet in any version. Introduce the forever knights to ghosts and the Fenton's things probably get pretty spicy. The forever knights could also work with the GiW too. Ben and the crew could definetly offer Danny some help or maybe he could even become a plumber. One possibility is he could be a plumber in training since its one of the coolest ways to get to go to space!

Another possibily is taking place during the original ben 10 where they meet the Fentons while traveling through Illinois or maybe camping near the Great lakes. They all get rather suspicious of Danny cause that kid's totally acting like he's hiding something and the Fenton parents are such odd ducks. There could be a ghost attack where both Danny's and Ben's secrets come out to eachother. Both are essential superheros and they bond over this and become great friends.

Another possibility for those who love angst is Danny is hurt and on the run from the GiW things have gone horribly wrong and he has nowhere to go. So Kevin finds this scared injured teen in an alleyway and helps him. He's like Danny's new big bro! He slowly learns about what happened and Danny's big secret, gets the squad together and goes ham on the GiW.

Those are just some small thoughts tho. I just really love ben 10. If there's any content out there you guys enjoy with this crossover please send it my way I'm so desperate!

Il a un concours de cuisine à gagner contre la brigade de la Petite Résistance mais il doit aussi gérer les sautes d'humeur de son propre coéquipier, Kylo Ren, descendant d'une longue lignée de cuisiniers mythiques. Du Kylux, un soupçon de Luke Skywalker/Wedge Antilles et peut-être un poil de Stormpilot sur le long terme.

-> The fic that fanart made me think of! The author was publishing a translation in english here, it hasn't been updated in 2019 and it only goes up to chapter 6 but since you're reading in french 👀 personally I thought it might not hold up to my current tastes but I reread it like a year ago and it really did! It's great, I love it. The puns are funny, it feels like watching a cooking contest but you also get UST on top, impeccable.

-> It has been almost 5 whole years since I first read this fic and I'm still mentally ill about it (mostly in a good way). It predates Armitage as a first name for Hux and the ending absolutely destroyed me. I read it during the holidays at like a lunch with family and I was just sobbing in a corner of the room because of these two and I do not regret looking like an idiot in that moment because the emotional Moment was worth it. Absolute masterpiece. If you finish it come tell me about it even if it takes you years because that ending... listen I love the fic so very much but I won't lie that dot dot dot is (derogatory). The emotional wreckage of it was not satisfying to teen me but I'm still thinking about it with minimal prompting 5 years later and that's how you can tell the author did a great job. To be clear this is a cherished memory even if I wasn't crying with joy. There's also an english translation being worked on by im_your_hope!

• I also have good memories of L'autre con, but it's been years so they're just vague memories. It was written as a prompt fill for a fic starting with "Y'a encore l'autre con dans ma chambre", like Y'a encore l'autre con dans my chambre by Hermineuh! (that's uh, "that other dumbass is in my room again") And speaking of Hermineuh...

• Dites-le avec des fleurs by Hermineuh (30k, 6 chapters)

Hux a un secret. Rien d'extravagant ni de malsain, fort heureusement. Juste une petite passion qu'il s'est découverte il y a peu et qu'il compte bien garder pour lui. Ce serait tellement dommage si le Maître des Chevaliers de Ren venait à le découvrir. Vraiment dommage…

-> This right here is my first Kylux fic ever. I read it just after watching episode 7 (I think? or 8?) in bed when I should've been asleep. I was scrolling of FFnet trying to find something interesting, this seemed a safe bet, and then BAM surprise Kylux, and now look at me. Thank you Hermineuh for single-handedly selling me on the ship. This fic changed my life and also it's good!
