Fic authors self-rec! ✨ When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers ❤️
Thanks for the tags @bad-surprise and @wyrd-syster
Mine are all from other fandoms, but just in case any Reylos still follow me or your sexual awakening was also Jareth the Goblin King 😂, I'll share my 5 favorite fics that I’ve written w/ all the old shit I made for them:
1. when the moon met the sun in the sky [reylo fantasy au | E | 71k | 20/20] — To date my proudest work, just because it was fun to try and attempt to evoke a Miyazaki-style fantasy world, and the world-building was so much fun.
"Who?" Rey asked.
She knew who. But she didn't know what else to say.
The man called Kylo Ren — Ben, her mind whispered — rolled his shoulders, a tick she'd seen before, a thousand times at least; an echo of a boy she used to know.
He seemed to notice. He took a tentative step toward her. When she flinched in response, he froze.
"Don't do that," he said, soft as a psalm. His dark eyes darted over every inch of her.
"Do what?" she asked.
"Lie."
Tumblr media
2. Boon [reylogan heist au | E | 39k | 12/20] — This is such a niche fic in the first place because it’s a crossover between SW and Logan Lucky, but man, it was so fun and Rey/Clyde are so soft. I’d never attempted to write a heist and I obviously didn’t finish but I still have a fondness for this (permanently? IDK) on hiatus little fic.
“Your jar looks like it’s full of stars,” Sadie said, gaping at it.
“It does,” Clyde agreed. He raised his own. “Time to set them free?”
Sadie nodded, skipping into the night to release hers. As Rey turned to follow, Clyde snaked his good hand around her wrist.
“Follow me.”
He led her around the house, where the night felt denser, darker, somehow warmer. Underfoot, wild daisies swayed in the dying summer breeze.
“Here,” he murmured. She smiled at him, then twisted the top of her jar off. He followed suit. Together, they shook the little bugs free — to fly away, blinking little lights in the darkness; hazy yellow stars they might touch.
Tumblr media
3. Crown Glass [reylo fantasy au | M | 4k | 1/1] — I love this one because it just sort of came into being; a prompt/gift one-shot that took on a mind of its own, but I got to play more with present tense and some high-fantasy elements bouncing around in my brain.
She shouldn’t be able to find it. But she does.
It stands tall, tucked away in the back of the cellar; she weaves through abandoned armor, crusted cauldrons, and shelves and shelves of spellbooks to reach it. It’s old, ancient even; she can feel that, even if she’d never set eyes on it, full-length and ringed in circles of crown glass that shimmer in the gloom.
She reaches out a hand, skimming the surface–
And then a world appears on the other side.
A room, awash in milky moonlight. A desk, buried by books. A bed…
And a man.
She draws her hand back, heart thumping as loud as the magic in her ears.
The world flickers and fades back into blackness.
Tumblr media
4. This is the Sign You've Been Looking For [reylo modern au | E | 29k | 10/10] — My first real Reylo fic and what got me back into writing after years away, so I have to give it credit! Also my first ever AU, and Virgin artist Ben Solo and sign maker Rey were so sweet and sad but with a nice HEA.
"I'm sorry," Rey murmured, drawing close. She could only seem to look at her feet.
He pressed a large palm to her face, tilting her head up to look at him. The music filtering in from the living room was noticeably softer; vaguely, Rey recognized Elton's "Your Song" playing in the background and decided it was a good idea to rest her hands on Ben's hips.
He glanced down at her touch, swallowing hard.
"Don't be," he hummed.
Tumblr media
5. Muse [Labyrinth canonverse fic | E | 82k | 20/20] — I have a lot of Feelings about this fic, but I have to include it even though a part of me wants to edit it into oblivion, haha. I feel like I’ve come so far as a writer since finishing this in my early twenties, but I’ll always appreciate this for how it helped me improve, for how it gave me an avenue to do more with fantasy world-building, and for the nice response it got in a small little fandom.
"Why did you give me the peach?"
He stared at her, his expression unfathomable.
"Are you going to answer me?" asked Sarah quietly.
"You know why I gave it to you," replied Jareth, "To make you forget."
"No," continued Sarah, "I know. That wasn't what I meant. Why did you give me the peach, knowing that I would never be able to leave after taking a bite?"

A Second Shot ~ Logan Howlett x Fem! Reader
Content - Worst! Wolverine needs to take a break from the chaos of the apartment and goes to find a bar. Lucky for him he walks in to the one you work at.
A/N - Thank you so much for the love already. All the likes, comments and reposts have been so encouraging. I'm gonna go ahead with writing a full series. Like I said before this will be more adult 18+. Ya know sex, violence, swearing. All the good stuff 😂 stay tuned ❤️❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Hi 👋 this is my first fic. Please comment if you like or have improvements. I have an idea to make this in to a full series that would be more 🌶 adult. Let me know if any of you are interested in reading that. Warning: Slight swearing
Logan needed to get out of the apartment. Wade and Peter had started to brainstorm the rebirth of X-Force 2.0, which Wade promised would be at least 40% less lethal than its predecessor. And for unknown reasons the ‘brainstorming’ included multiple whiteboards and creating a practice plane to ‘stick the landing unlike last time’. The ensuing DIY project caused Laura to barge out of her room, screaming at Wade about the noise. The merc with the mouth then thought it was wise to make a ‘menies’ joke. Not surprisingly Laura launched herself on the man, claws out.
I’m too sober for this.
That was enough for Logan to grab his leather jacket and head for the door. Logan walked down the busy New York streets. It was late September, the night was chilly with light rain splattering on the sidewalk. Logan was surprised by how lively the streets were for the time of night, before remembering it was a Friday. He wondered how long it had been since he was sober enough to remember the day of the week. He continued down the street, silently taking in the bustle. Taxi drivers were hitting the horns like they were paid by the noise. Young couples were making out in darkened alleys, lost in their own world. Logan smirked to himself. God when was the last time he did that? He shook the urge to wander down memory lane. He passed a few bars, neon lights flickering invitingly. He peered in. Bachelorette party. Could be fun but he just wanted a quiet drink tonight. Another. Karaoke night. Logan winced at the off tune, drunken singing. Heightened hearing had its downsides. Every bar and pub seemed packed with drunken revellers, ready to enjoy their night and invite the weekend with a killer hangover.
Logan was ready to give up and head back, knowing full well that Wade and Laura had probably destroyed the apartment, when he glanced across the street. A small bar, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the street. ‘Sammy’s Bar’, adorned the sign above the door. Logan focused his hearing. There was definitely people in there but it sounded quiet enough. He crossed the road and walked down a few steps to the wooden door, before pushing it open.
He stepped inside, the smell of hard liquor wafted in the air. The place was a decent size, something you wouldn’t be able to tell from the street. The space was dimly lit, a few old looking sconces dotted the far left wall above booth seating. A few people sat there, engrossed in hushed, alcohol soaked conversations. Small round table seating were dotted around the open middle section of the bar, their patrons loudly arguing over politics as the few ancient looking chandeliers above swayed slightly with the roar of traffic outside. On the far right stood the solid wood bar with a few high stools lining it, with a couple of people sitting watching a boxing match on the TV in the right corner. The bar had a few beer taps, the usual stuff and a few European beers. Logan rolled his eyes before catching the well stocked liquor on the wall. This will have to do. Logan walked to a vacant stool by the bar, next to a greying older man nursing his drinking and quietly reading a book. Shrugging off his jacket and lightly shaking off the droplets of rain that clung still to it.
“Be there in sec.” called a voice from one of the tables. Logan grunted in response as he sat at the bar. He propped his forearms on the worn wood, interlocking his fingers. Bar must’ve been here a while judging by the wear of the wood. His eyes began to trace the scratched names on the surface. “Josh was here”, “For a good time call Chloe” “Kenny hearts Lisa. He heard the hurried footsteps of the bartender rounding the bar to stand in front of him.
“So what can I getcha?,” came the cheerful voice.
Logan lifted his head, “A double of..” His voice caught in his throat as his eyes widened slightly. You stood there with a bright smile adoring your face, head slightly cocked to the side. You looked to be in your late 20s, early 30s if he had to guess.Your hair was up in a high ponytail and you wore a black t-shirt that hugged your figure. Logan glimpsed your slightly loose jeans. Comfortable for working in a bar.
“Ahem” Logan cleared his throat. “A double of Jamesons, neat. Thanks.”
“No problem. Coming right up.” You flashed him another stunning smile.
Oh fuck.
You pulled out a small step to help you grab the whiskey from the shelf. Your t-shirt riding up slightly showing off the small of your back and waist. Logan wondered what it would feel like to grip your waist as he-
“Pipe down old man” Logan mentally scolded himself. You hoped for the step stool, whiskey in hand and began to pour his drink. You chatted with the, what he assumed to be, regulars sitting beside him; laughing and commenting on the match they were watching.
God, even your laugh was beautiful.
“There you are”, you said as you placed Logan’s drink in front of him.
“Thanks.” He managed to muster without his voice cracking like a kid whose balls hadn’t dropped. He took a slow sip, letting the warming amber liquid melt his day’s stress away.
“So I haven’t seen you around. We don’t get many new faces here.” You offered idle chat as you cleaned the bar around you.
“Urm no. Not been here before.” Logan offered in response.
“New in the neighbourhood?”
“Yeah you could say that” You have no idea.
“Well, welcome to our neck of the woods. Umm?” you asked.
“Logan. Thanks. Sammy?”
“Oh no.” You laughed, placing your hand on your chest. “ No Sammy’s my boss and owner of this fine establishment. I’m [Y/N]” you offered your hand to shake. Logan took it, his giant hands enveloping yours. He could have sworn he heard your breath hitch slightly at the contact and feel your heartbeat a little faster. You quickly retract your hand, Logan smirking slightly at your sudden awkwardness.
“Well Logan I’m happy you found us.”
“Yeah, most of the places ‘round here got too many people. Way too loud.” Logan said as he took another sip of his drink.
“Yeah. That’s why most of the old timers like it here…” Your hand flew to your open mouth as you realised what you had said. “I mean not you obviously.” you stuttered as you tried to recover your accidental insult. “I mean like the older guys like a quieter ambience you know like Leonard is always complaining about how those places you can’t hear yourself think” You are tripping on your words as your brain goes into overdrive. “Not saying you have the same issues as a 65 year old man!” Logan couldn’t help but laugh at your attempts to salvage your blunder.
“I’m older than I look, darlin,” he says with a coy smile, glass still hovering at his lips.
“What? No you can’t be much older than me. Definitely under forty!” you stuttered out, still frazzled.
Logan's smile spread into a toothy grin. He was enjoying how flustered you were.
“Hey [Y/N]! Another one when you’re done flirting with the new guy.” A man on the far side of the bar shouted, holding his empty pint glass.
“Shut up Leonard!” you yelled back. The man, Leonard, laughed in response. “Well I think I’ve embarrassed myself enough. I’ll leave you to your drink, Logan.” You gave a quick embarrassed smile as you hurried off to see to the other patrons.
Logan let out a small laugh as could hear you scolding the man he presumed was Leonard.
“What the hell is wrong with you?”
“Oh come on I’ve never seen you get all jittery before. Besides, you looked like you were drowning out there. What the hell did you even say to him”
“Nothing! Just drop it or I’ll tell Martha you were here last Thursday when you were ‘working late at the office’.” you snapped back, glaring at the man. Leonard put his hands up in surrender, quietly conceding.
[Y/N] quickly glanced over at Logan to see if witnessed the exchange. Logan kindly dropped his head, pretending to be fascinated by his glass. You let out a small relieved sigh, before leaving the bar to clear some tables. Logan lifted his head back up, making eye contact with Leonard across the bar. The man gave him a wide smile, lifting up his glass in a silent cheers, clearly enjoying how flustered he made their favourite bartender. Logan mirrored the action with his whiskey glass before taking another sip.
The old man in the stool next to Logan began to stand up, closing his book and placing a few dollars on the to pay his tab. Grabbing his coat, he called out to you, “I’m off now [Y/N].”
You turned, smiling at the man, “Okay Kenny. You take care. Bring Lisa next time, I miss her.”
“I will. Night” The rest of the bar called out their goodbyes to the man as he finished putting on his coat. He began to walk past Logan before he stopped. Logan shifted slightly in his seat toward the man.
In a hushed tone “She works here most nights.” He flashed Logan a knowing smile and wink before donning his flat cap and walking out the bar.
Logan couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. Yeah this will definitely need to be a regular spot, especially if it means being served by a certain beautiful bartender.

Hi, I was reading some of your writings, and instantly fell in love, especially the btas penguin ones also Gotham, so I was wondering as a request, how would the BTAS Dork squad + Oswald and Harvey propose to their S/O+ What their wedding would be like (Bonus if there were some chaotic/ funny shenanigans happening.) if you don't mind. Love your work!!!!!
A/N: Aww thank you so much! I'm glad you love my writing! That means a whole lot! and omg…the timing of this is impeccable lol. I just got done with the third wedding in a row of a family member (literally only months apart from one another rip) so this will be fun! I won’t be doing Harvey, I know I’ve done him a couple times, but that was more for friends and to keep a certain writing pattern going for a request I did... I don’t mind Harvey, he’s a close favorite but I just…don’t feel comfortable writing for him? Also sorry there weren’t any choatic or funny shenanigans lmao I got way too wrapped up in the sentimentality and intimacy of it, I hope you don’t mind!
BTAS Dork Squad + Penguin - Wedding Headcanons
Tumblr media
BTAS Riddler:
Engagement:
- Obviously, Eddie is going to make a game out of it.
- Whether it’s a series of riddles he asks on a dinner date
- Or a small little intimate scavenger hunt
- Or a short and sweet video game on the computer.
- Maybe even a trip in virtual reality where he takes you down an actual trip through memory lane…
- All options lead to him getting on one knee before you.
- He makes it known that you’re the answer to the riddle of his own life, just when he thought he would never find one.
- Edward won’t admit it, but he was extremely relieved when you said yes, always slightly worried it was too soon or too late to ask.
Wedding:
- It’s somehow simultaneously both grand yet intimate.
- Only a few close friends or family of yours show up (if at all given his reputation)
- Edward ensures to only invite a few of his colleagues that won’t cause a total commotion.
- He really only invited them to show you off anyway.
- Of course the colors have to contain green in there somehow.
- It’s fairly a traditional wedding, everything is serene and just perfect.
- It’s rare to see Edward cry, but he definitely was shedding a couple tears or more
- When he first saw you, when you walked down, when you spoke your vows.
- He can’t believe just how lucky he got.
BTAS Scarecrow:
Engagement:
- As the Master of Fear, he knew better than anyone that he was absolutely mortified.
- Jonathan knew it was only a matter of time, and after so many years…it was the proper order of things.
- You two have even spoke in hypotheticals on marriage, and when your eyes glimmered at the prospect he knew what he had to do.
- It did nothing to calm his nerves though, worried that just one slip up could utterly ruin the foundations you two have built.
- He gulps down his fear and bravely gets down on one knee on the porch before you too head back into your home after a date night.
- Jonathan is so relieved and overjoyed when you said yes.
Wedding:
- Autumn colors, autumn colors, autumn colors.
- No doubt takes place in either late October or early November.
- It’s small and intimate, only a few close relatives or friends.
- Jonathan didn’t even invite Harley, Edward, and others but they somehow found out and joined anyway.
- Harley self-appointed herself your maid of honor (if you didn’t have one already, so just roll with it, she’s so sweet)
- Jonathan finds you breathtaking in your outfit.
- He surprises himself as he finds himself getting choked up sometimes.
- Watching you smile, laugh, the ring on your finger almost seems to genuinely glow from your love for each other.
- He looks back on this day fondly, a memory that would light up even his darkest of days.
BTAS Mad Hatter:
Engagement:
(I lowkey actually did a scenario where he proposes to reader albeit it was in lieu of a friend but still works)
- This man’s love for you knows absolutely no bounds.
- Never one to shy away from any extravagant displays of affection.
- The engagement is no different.
- Whether it be the conclusion to a small hedge maze you conquered together.
- A sweet surprise at the bottom of your tea cup during a tea party.
- It’s thoughtful, it’s clever, it’s adorable, and it’s 100% Jervis
- You couldn’t ever say no.
- Jervis is just as excited as you are when you say yes.
Wedding:
- LOOKING GLASS THEMED DRESS/OUTFIT REVEAL
(Sorry, sorry, but that idea has never left my head. I sat through with my sister looking for themes for her reveal photoshoot and just had the biggest lightbulb moment)
- He’s confused at first of the two way mirror, yet when he slowly sees you appear on the other side you absolutely take his breath away.
- Your overall wedding theme is Wonderland, because of course…
- It’s full of beautiful colors, every since of the décor is in reference to the Carroll novels
- White roses haphazardly painted table center pieces, stacks upon stacks of tea cups and saucers of different shapes and sizes, playing card themed napkins…
- Okay I’m making myself jealous of an actual fictional wedding hang on…
- Practically everyone that you two knew that adores you two is there.
- Which means a handful of the Rogues gallery and any friends or family that support you.
- Jervis is overwhelmed with elation that you’re finally his in every since, to where there’s an actual physical representation of it in your rings.
- Wonderland is no longer a fantasy, but a reality of waking up to your love each day.
BTAS Penguin:
Engagement:
- Oswald has thought about this moment…longer than he cared to admit.
- He honestly had been thinking about it since the whole year you two had been a couple.
- That was the longest anyone had been with him.
- When a year, turned into more and more years well…much like Jonathan, he knew it was a matter of time to properly ask for your hand.
- Doesn’t make him any less of a nervous wreck about it.
- Oz takes you out on a date, he doesn’t want to make it too obvious but definitely pulls out all the stops.
- Your favorite restaurant, your favorite place to stroll, your favorite activity…it’s all about you.
- He does his best not to fumble as he gets down on one knee and finally asks the burning question.
- He feels like the weight of the world is lifted off his shoulders and is relieved by pure joy when you say yes.
Wedding:
(I know technically BTAS Oz doesn’t own the Iceberg Lounge but his TNBA version does so we’re kinda overlapping canon here rip)
- The Iceberg Lounge serves as the perfect venue for your wedding.
- Oswald takes some joy in not inviting or allowing any of Gotham’s social elitists into the venue.
- Yes, yes, only a certain amount of people are allowed to see who is being betrothed to the Penguin.
- Everything is pretty formal, a black-tie affair all around.
- You don’t have flower girls, more flower birds as they swoop in and toss the petals along the aisle.
- Oz is in awe of you as your presented.
- He’s worried he will wake up and you and all of this would be a dream, a fantasy.
- Everything is real as you exchange vows, and he tries not to cry.
- The evening continues without a hitch, well except for some of the birds accidentally making an oops on some Rogues, particularly a clown that wasn’t invited.
- Oswald is thrilled to begin this new chapter with you. A chapter he thought he could never write in his life, but now thankfully he has you to help him write it.

Take a Lap
Tumblr media
Photos are not mine. They are courtesy of Pinterest/Google.
Pairing: Billy Russo x F! Reader
Warnings: Some swear words, frustrated Billy, fluffy, some smooches, PG-13 for the most part.
Word Count: 5.1K-ish
Summary: Reader is a swim instructor/lifeguard at a pool. Billy is training for a triathlon but he needs a lot of help in the swimming area and reluctantly asks her for help.
A/N: Part 1 of 2, maybe 3. I’m not sure yet. Writing this brings back a lot of happy memories for me, I absolutely loved my job teaching swimming lessons, lifeguarding, helping triathletes. It was very rewarding, a lot of fun, and I miss it. It just didn’t pay the bills. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
5:30 am. The odor and warm air hit you as soon as you unlocked the door. The chlorine must be high today you thought to yourself as the early morning swimmers filed in close behind you, hot on your heels. They were quite impatient. You swore under your breath because the night guards forgot to put the lane lines before they left again. Putting them in was going to cut into their lap time but they helped you so it didn’t eat up too much of their time, they had a schedule to keep.
After tightening the lanes, the morning crowd started their workouts and it was time for you to test the chlorine level and it was a little high, just like you thought because of how strong the scent was when you walked in. The color of the water inside the tester would normally be a light pink, today however, the color was a bright magenta. It was a little too high and by the balminess in the pool area this morning, the temperature of the water was probably on the warmer side also.
Pulling the thermometer out of the water, you closely looked at the lines past the 80 degree line. It read 84. The water was slightly warmer than it should be for lap swimming. It was definitely too warm for you when you swam laps but you were working this morning not swimming so you decided not to worry too much about it because the morning crowd would worry enough for you.
As you sat in your chair, drinking your coffee, one of them called out to you.
“Water’s a little warm today.” She said.
Making sure she didn’t see you roll your eyes, you glanced down at your coffee mug before answering back. “It’s different every day, Sandy. I don’t have any control of the temperature but if you want, I can let the pool director know it’s too warm.”
Smiling at you, she asked. “Could you do that please, y/n? It gets really hot when you’re swimming laps.”
It’s not like you didn’t know how warm it got while swimming laps, you weren’t just a lifeguard. You had swam competitively, you were an instructor, a swim coach, and a lifeguard instructor. You knew your way around a pool and have always been very comfortable in the water.
“Anything for you, Sandy!” Only a hint of sarcasm in your voice but she didn’t seem to notice.
“You’re the best morning guard we’ve ever had, y/n!” She said.
“Well you know I aim to please.” You replied.
The morning rush ended around 9 am and then it was time for water aerobics, followed by pre-school swim lessons and lap swimming resumed around lunch time. While you were cleaning up from your lessons with the preschoolers, a tall, very handsome man with eyes as dark as obsidian, walked through the locker room doors.
His onyx colored hair was dripping wet from the shower, he had a well-groomed beard and in his hands were a pair of goggles and a swim cap. You noticed he had several scars on his body, a few of them were about the size of a bullet. Maybe he was in the service?
Your arms were full of kickboards and pool noodles as he walked toward you. He smiled at you, oh he had a perfect smile, and you felt yourself starting to blush. “Ya need some help, miss?” He asked.
His voice was smooth and incredibly sexy. Your cheeks were suddenly very hot and you struggled to get the words out.
“Oh, I’m fine, thank you though. Swim anywhere you’d like, all the lanes are open.” You told him.
He occupied the last lane, closest to the wall.
After you put away the equipment you used for your lessons, you took a seat in your chair once again, watching him intently. He looked the part of a swimmer, putting on his swim cap and adjusting his goggles, he was even built like a swimmer.
When he pushed off the wall, it was very clear that he was NOT a swimmer. He had the basics down, he obviously knew how to swim but the technique was lacking…severely lacking. His stroke was atrocious and instead of turning his head to breathe, he lifted his head which caused his legs to drop below the surface of the water. He was, for lack of a better term, a mess.
It was tough for you to watch. The way he struggled to stay on top of the water, or halfway down the length of the pool, he’d grab on to the wall gasping for air. You kept a close eye on him, in case duty called.
You hated to watch him struggle though, he clearly needed help but you didn’t like to offer pointers if you weren’t being asked for advice, no one likes that. That’s not your place but a walk around the pool deck couldn’t hurt, there was stray equipment that needed to be picked up anyway.
When he reached the shallow end, he started to cough. It wasn’t a surprise, he probably sucked in a lot of water. It was clear he was unsure how to breathe while swimming.
You decided to ask if he was alright. “Hey are you ok? You can’t drown while I’m on duty, I don’t need you messing up my perfect record.” You joked.
Finally, his coughing subsided and he was able to answer you. “Yeah, yeah I’m fine. I’m training for a triathlon and swimming is not as easy as it looks.”
You’ve heard that before. “Well you’re not the only one who has thought it looks easy. It’s actually the hardest part.” You said.
He pulled his goggles away from his eyes and rested them on his forehead so he could look at you. “And why is that?” He asked, his tone sounded like he didn’t believe you.
Of course you had an answer. “Because swimmers have a greater lung capacity than someone who just bikes and runs. So if you practice the other two and dismiss the swimming part, it’s going to be incredibly difficult for you to even finish the swim.”
He stuck his tongue out to lick his lips, the water dripping off of his beautiful body was making you feel things you shouldn’t be.
“Well…do you have any advice for me?” He asked, looking up at you.
A sly smile stretched across your face. “I do…you need a coach.” You said.
He brushed the water out of his eyes. “I’m not sure I like that idea.” He told you.
“Well then you’re gonna end up drowning in open water. Have a nice day, mister.” And you started to walk away when he reached out to touch your hand. His touch took you a little by surprise and butterflies immediately stirred in your stomach.
“Ok, well do you have any immediate advice you can give me?” He asked, reluctantly.
You crouched down so you were eye level with him, which was a big mistake. His impenetrable brown eyes gazing into yours almost caused you to stumble over your words. “Turn your head to breathe, don’t lift it. Your legs will stay at the surface. Do a full exhale underwater, inhale when your face is out of the water.” You slowly walked back to your chair, you felt his eyes on you the entire time, and he pulled his goggles over his eyes to try again.
You could tell he wasn’t used to getting advice from other people, he seemed like the type that was in charge, he told people what to do not the other way around. He pushed off of the wall, and as he surfaced, you watched him turn his head to the side to breathe instead of lifting his head in front. He was already improving but he had a long way to go.
After swimming for about an hour, he exited the pool. His swim trunks clinging to all the right places, he was a terrible swimmer but he sure was attractive. Instead of going into the locker room, he headed straight for you.
Oh no. The butterflies were back.
“Look at that, he survived.” You said with a chuckle.
He laughed a little. “Yeah, I—uh wanted to tell you thank you. Your advice seemed to keep me horizontal in the water instead of sinking.”
Glancing back and forth from the pool to the black pools that were his eyes, you softly said. “You’re welcome. You’re still going to need a lot more training though, contrary to what you may think, I DON’T want you to drown.”
“Maybe I’ll look into it.” He said. “I’m Billy, by the way. Billy Russo.” He extended his hand.
“It’s nice to meet you Billy, I’m y/n and I am your humble guardian while you swim, if you wanna call what you were just doing ‘swimming’.” You said, making air quotes with your fingers and extending your arm to meet his.
He chuckled again. “It’s nice to meet you too, y/n.” He glanced down at the wet tile floor and back up to your face. “I guess, I’ll see you around.”
“Have a nice day, Billy. Don’t drown in the shower, I’m not allowed to leave the pool deck.” You said with a slight smile.
He turned to head toward the locker room but quickly turned back. “Ok look, I really would like to do well in this triathlon so I could use all the help I can get.”
“What exactly are you asking me, Mr. Russo?” You knew what he wanted to ask, but you just wanted him to say it out loud.
The look on his face said it all. He REALLY didn’t want to ask for help but he knew if he wanted to survive the triathlon, he would need your help.
“Y/n, guardian of the pool and keeper of swim knowledge. Will you please help me not to drown and train me for this triathlon?” He begged.
A smile tugged at the corners of your mouth. “Awwww, you’re cute when you beg. Alright, I’ll help you. But it will be easier for me to help you if I can get in the water with you so you’re gonna have to come when I get off.” You said.
Billy chuckled.
“When I’m done with work, funny guy!” You were blushing again. “Tomorrow, 3 o’clock or 1500, I know you service guys talk like that.”
He looked surprised. “How did you know I was in the service?”
You bit down on your lower lip and shied away from him a little. “Well it was just a guess…but your haircut for one but I, um…I saw your scars. They look like—shit I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought that up. I’m so sorry.”
He gave you a warm smile. “Y/n, really it’s ok. Maybe I’ll tell you about them sometime. I gotta go, but I’ll see you tomorrow.”
He gave you a wink as he walked away. This was going to be tough, you were crushing hard on Billy Russo and you thought maybe he was crushing a little on you too.
That night when you arrived home, you went to work right away on putting together workouts for you and Billy to do. You typed up drills that would improve his stamina, they would make him stronger, and faster.
It was difficult to get Billy off your mind though, you could only imagine the stories he has. His eyes were beautiful but they looked sad, and distant but looked like they had plenty to say. You snapped back to reality and remembered he wants you to train him not date him.
“Snap out of it, y/n. So what if he’s the hottest man you’ve ever seen, you have work to do.” Those words danced around in your head all night, it was difficult to fall asleep and you needed sleep if you were going to work AND train tomorrow.
The morning flew by and as it got closer and closer to 3 o’clock, you started to get nervous because you knew he would be coming in soon. Your swim cap and goggles were in your hands, ready to go when you heard the locker room door open and Billy walked out onto the pool deck, right on time.
He smiled as he walked toward you. “Ok, y/n. I’m ready to learn.”
Billy noticed the papers, they were inside a clear plastic folder so they wouldn’t get wet. His expression softened and he pointed at the paper in your hand as the two of you walked over to the last swim lane. “What are, uh—what are all those numbers on that paper?” Now he sounded a little nervous.
“Oh this?” You held up the paper in front of his face. “These are our workouts. You scared, Russo?” You asked, taunting him just a little.
“Uh, yeah maybe a little. Those are a lot of numbers.” He said.
“In the water, soldier. Let’s go.” You said as you jumped into the shallow end.
You had to hand it to Billy, he did pick up your lessons very quickly. You explained that one length of the pool is 25 yards so anytime he saw 4 x 50 on the paper, he knew he had to swim two lengths of the pool, four times. Or if he saw 4 x 100, he had to swim four lengths of the pool, four times, and so on. You’d give him periods of rest also, not as long as he wanted but he could keep track of his rest times on the pace clock.
“Ok, I just have one question. What’s a pace clock?” He asked.
You tried to hold in your laughter but you couldn’t. “The pace clock is that GIANT clock on the wall, at eye level Billy.”
After his short sprints, his rests of ten seconds infuriated him and he would get very angry with you. “Why do I only get to rest ten seconds, y/n?!!” He yelled, trying to catch his breath. People stopped to stare. “It’s not enough time!”
“You need to build your lung capacity and endurance, Billy. That’s the only way you’re gonna be able to do this!" You yelled back, you weren’t intimidated by him even though he towered over you. It kind of turned you on if you were being honest with yourself.
Every day for 8 weeks, you worked with him, giving him different work outs and working on various speeds and distances. He was getting better but still frustrated with himself and you were pretty sure it was because you were better than he was. Billy had to be the best…at everything.
Concentrating on certain areas of the body, sometimes you would work on just using your arms with the assistance of a pull buoy. “What do I do with that?” He asked.
“Stick this in between your thighs and pinch your legs together, it keeps your legs in place and afloat so you can just concentrate on your arms.” You said. “And after that, we can work on your kicking using the kickboard.”
“You’re gonna kill me, ya know that?” He said. “And how many times do I have to do this?” He picked up the plastic sleeve to look at the workout. “2 x 250’s?! Ah, come on y/n!”
Trying to hold in your laughter, you covered your mouth so he wouldn’t see you smiling. “Calm down, Russo. I’m not asking you to sprint, I want you to work on your form. These should be leisurely swims, you don’t have to go fast.”
Billy looked up, you were standing near the ladder ready to watch him and critique his form if you needed to when he asked. “Can I see you do it first?”
Narrowing your eyes at him, you snatched a pull buoy from the basket and jumped into the water. “Ok, I’ll do a 250 so you can see what I’m lookin’ for, just walk along the pool deck and watch me while I swim.”
His eyes widened, he seemed excited he would get to watch you from above instead of swimming alongside of you.
As you came up for air after pushing off the wall, you could see Billy walking next to you while you swam. Your arms stretched out in front, pulling in an S-shape under the water, gently brushing each thigh with your thumb as you pulled the water underneath you, your elbow the first to break the surface and extending your arm past your head, close to your ear before placing your hand back in the water in front of you and repeating the movements.
He watched you with great intensity, if he had a pen and paper in his hand, you were sure he would have written things down and the flip turn you did at the end of the first 25 yards, you swore his eyes left his head for a minute. He was so surprised, his eyes glued to you at your every move.
“That was…amazing.” Billy was almost at a loss for words. “How did you do that turn?!! With the flip!”
A wide smile stretched across your face. “Ah, that takes practice, I’ll teach you but not now. In the water, come on. Longer swims will help with your endurance too.”
Billy got back in the water with the pull buoy and placed it in between his legs. “So I just hold this here and…”
“It will keep your lower half at the surface while you work on your arm technique.” You said.
After Billy finished his longer swims, you had plenty of compliments for him. He was definitely improving, his form looked better and he wasn’t as out of breath after completing a workout. You did, however, have a small suggestion for him.
“No, no, no. No way! Why do I need to wear a speedo?!!” Billy asked.
Again, it was really hard not to laugh in his face when he had reactions like that.
“To cut down on drag, Billy!” You said with your voice raised to match his.
“What the fuck is drag?!!” He asked.
You didn’t mean to but before you realized what you were doing it was too late. Your hand dipped below the surface of the water to grab a hold of his swim trunks, near the side pocket and you gently pulled on the fabric.
“THIS, Billy! THIS is drag. You’re not moving as fast through the water as you could be if you were wearing a different suit, you can get ones that look like bike shorts. You don’t have to get the little underwear ones anymore.” You said, still holding onto his trunks. It was a good thing your cheeks were already red from the workout so he couldn’t tell that you were blushing.
Realizing you were still holding on to his bathing suit, you released the fabric from your fingers, crossed your arms across your chest and shied away from him, slightly embarrassed. You just grabbed AND pulled down on Billy’s swim trunks.
“Wait…I don’t?” His voice was back down to a normal volume.
You pinched the bridge of your nose and squeezed your eyes shut. “No, Billy…you don’t. Do you have to fight me on EVERYTHING!? Or do you think I would suggest it just to see you in a tighter bathing suit?” No, you did not just say that out loud.
You looked around the pool area, the two of you were the only ones left aside from the lifeguard cleaning up the pool deck.
A cunning smile spread across Billy’s face. “Well…do you?” He asked.
“Do I what?” You asked.
He continued to smile at you, sometimes you hated that his smile was absolutely perfect.
“Do you want to see me in a tighter bathing suit?” He inched closer to you, closing the gap between your bodies, his liquid brown eyes gazing down at you, and your heart was beating right out of your chest.
You swallowed hard, looking up at him through your lashes before turning to get out of the water. “I think we’re done for the day, Russo. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You could feel his eyes on you as you walked around the pool deck toward the locker room. Quickly, you glanced over your shoulder to take one last look at him before going inside. He was biting down on his bottom lip and he winked at you as you opened the door and headed inside.
When the door closed behind you, a long exhale escaped your lips and you couldn’t take another step. Your legs were shaking and it wasn’t because of the intense workout you just had, it was because of Billy.
The man was incorrigible, questioning everything you were teaching him, asking why you wanted him to do certain things but eventually, reluctantly giving in to what you demanded from him. He wanted to be better, so you were making him better. He drove you crazy but he was also…driving you crazy.
You thought about Billy constantly, while you were working, while you were at home, everywhere you went, his face was in your head and it made you smile. He made you laugh, sometimes you laughed with him but also, although you didn’t mean to, you laughed at him because you couldn’t help yourself.
He wasn’t the first person you’ve trained for the swim portion of a triathlon but he was definitely the most challenging and you found it thrilling. You challenged him but he was also challenging you as an instructor, thinking he could get his way just by flashing that perfect smile at you. You weren’t a pushover, you didn’t even let three year olds walk all over you, let alone grown adults, and you certainly were not going to let Billy Russo walk over you.
And the more time you spent with him, the feelings you had for him grew but also you knew that after your training sessions were complete, you would have to say goodbye to him. But you didn’t want to, there was a dull ache in your chest every time you thought about it. He had no reason to keep seeing you after his sessions were finished but you were definitely falling for him.
The hot water from the shower pelted your skin over and over again, you closed your eyes and let the water run all over your body. Washing the chlorine out of your hair, you remembered how close Billy was to you, feeling the warmth of his breath against your eyelids, and staring at the droplets of water trickling down the long, lean muscles of his torso. It was hard to concentrate on anything else.
Once you finished getting dressed, you walked out of the locker room into the hallway and saw Billy leaning up against the wall. Suddenly, your heart was in your throat again and all of your words were trapped inside.
“Hey, there she is. I almost didn’t recognize you with all your clothes on.” He said sarcastically as someone passed by.
Somewhat embarrassed, you couldn’t help but crack a smile. “Very funny, Russo. What are you still doing here?” You asked.
“I thought maybe I could walk you to your car.” He said.
You held up your finger. “Ah, well I would say yes if I had a car here. Parking and driving in this city is a nightmare so I’ll just take an Uber or the train.”
Billy shook his head. “Absolutely not. May I drive you home, please? Please? It’s the least I can do for you having to put up with me. I know I can be a little…difficult.”
His offer surprised you and his eyes looked a little different from when you first met him. They looked…happy.
“Oh…well…I…I guess I don’t have a reason to say no so yes, thank you Billy. That’s very nice of you.” You said.
Side by side, you walked up the stairs and exited the sports club, talking the entire time. Talking with Billy was easy, mostly because you did a lot of the talking, he listened and asked questions. He asked what made you want to be a swim instructor, a coach, a lifeguard. Growing up, your backyard was the ocean, it was your happy place. And according to your mother, you loved the water from a VERY early age. Swimming came very naturally to you so why not teach something that you love to do.
Billy asked how you got into training triathletes so you told him the story of one triathlon you were working and you nearly had to rescue a swimmer because he didn’t do enough training in the water, he came to you looking for help and mentioned he concentrated more so on the biking and the running and almost zero time on the swimming.
He asked if you would train him so you agreed and when all was said and done, he had shaved 15 minutes off of his last time which made you feel extremely happy that you were able to help him like that.
“Oh, let me get that for you.” Billy said, opening the car door for you.
You climbed into the car and he closed the door behind you. Holy shit, this is a nice car. You waited for him to get settled before asking him. “Billy, can I ask you which triathlon you’re training for?”
“Oh it’s the Niantic Bay Triathlon. I read it’s a good one for beginners.” He said.
Your heart skipped a beat when he mentioned Niantic because it was close to your hometown in Connecticut and you volunteered to work that one every year.
“Niantic Bay? As in Niantic, Connecticut?” You asked.
Looking slightly confused, he asked. “Yeah…you know it?”
“Niantic is close to where I grew up.” You said. “And I volunteer to work that triathlon every year.”
“Seriously?” He asked with a smile spread across his face.
Excitedly, you answered him. “YES!!”
During the car ride to your apartment, you couldn’t stop talking about your hometown, how much you loved growing up there, the sights to see, the places to visit. And Billy, hanging on your every word, listening and smiling while you talked. Before you knew it, you were home but you didn’t want the car ride to be over.
“Thank you for driving me home, Billy. I really appreciate it.” You said.
The two of you stood outside your downstairs door, you felt like every nerve ending in your body was firing, and you were really hoping he couldn’t tell that your knees were shaking. He was standing very close to you, like he did earlier before you got out of the water.
“You’re welcome, y/n. Like I said, it’s the least I can do.” He said.
You turned to unlock the door when Billy stopped you. “Why did you run away?” He asked, sharply.
His question surprised you. “What?”
“Earlier, we were standing close like we are now but you ran away, why?” He asked again.
The keys in your hand started to rattle because your hands were shaking slightly and it was hard to look him in the eyes, but you tried to play it off.
“I didn’t run away, our time was up, Billy.” You said softly.
He chuckled, gnashed his teeth, and did not take his eyes off of you. “Ok, now try telling me the truth.”
“What if I’m afraid to?” Your voice hitched.
“Try me…you might be surprised.”
You let out a long exhale and closed your eyes, remembering all the times in the past that you’ve been hurt by ex-boyfriends, guys you’ve dated that turned out to be assholes, you didn’t want to put yourself in that position again especially with someone like Billy. He was handsome, sweet, funny, CEO of his own company. He could have any woman he wanted, what would he want with you?
But you confessed anyway. “Because I don’t want to say goodbye after our sessions are over, ok? I—I have feelings for you, Billy. And look, I know that you probably—“
Before you could finish, he cut you off. His strong hands suddenly cupped your cheeks and his lips crashed against yours, your gym bag hit the ground as you entangled your hands in his ink like hair. You could still taste the chlorine on his lips, with a little hint of peppermint as his tongue gently pressed against your teeth, silently asking permission for his tongue to dance with yours.
You didn’t deny him as you devoured each other in the doorway of your apartment building, your back flattened against the wall and Billy’s lean hard body pushed against yours. He nipped at your chin and peppered kisses up and down your neck, managing to find the spot on your neck that made you weak in the knees.
His hands traveled down your torso before stopping to rest on your hips. Lifting your t-shirt slightly, his agile fingers brushed the soft skin of your stomach, causing goosebumps to erupt across your body and the ache between your legs to grow.
With each kiss he placed on your neck, you let out a sharp gasp and you couldn’t believe that this was actually happening. It seemed to make him hungrier for you as the soft moans of his name escaped your lips.
Before going any further, he pulled away slightly and rested his forehead against yours, both of you breathing heavily. A smirk played across his lips.
“You taste a little like chlorine.”
The two of you started to laugh as he lightly kissed your forehead.
“And I have feelings for you too y/n. I have for—“ He stopped, it was difficult for him to say how he feels, you could see it in his eyes and all over his face.
“Billy?” You whispered.
“I have for a while and I had a feeling maybe you did too. When I saw the way you were looking at me earlier—I“ He stopped again and ran his fingers through his hair. “I REALLY like you and I just have a hard time—“
Your fingers ghosted his lips. “Hey Billy, look at me.”
He stared off to the side, almost as if he was scared to look at you before finally meeting your gaze with his own.
“I REALLY like you too. But you don’t have to say anymore right now, ok?” You grazed his beard with your thumbs and carefully leaned in to him. His body was a warm, firm cradle for yours and you kissed him. His body loosened under your touch and you could tell he felt more at ease.
“Well how is this going to work for our professional relationship now? I don’t know if I should be making out with my swim coach.” He joked.
With your hands resting on his chest, you rolled your eyes, kissed him one more time and said “Relax, Russo—don’t make it weird. We still have a lot of work to do.”

Hi, thanks for making this post! It’s always fun getting to read your thoughts. I’m the anon that originally recommended 159 and sublimation and I agree with so many of the choices you made. There’s so many good fics written for this fandom, sometimes it’s easy to forget until you lay it out nicely like this. I’ve read every story on here except for like two so it was a walk down memory lane for me.
There’s so many good ones that I could go on forever, but I’ll just mention a few. I was surprised when you recommended “the ocean you gave my heart” because I haven’t seen anyone mention it, but I think about it often. “Heart’s Departure” is one of my favorites but yeah, it’s gut wrenching and idk if I could reread it. I love “Coral and Bone” is soo good and definitely a great read for the summer time. And “Night Changes,” I love when Makoharu talk to each other, they’re re so gentle with the other. I also want to mention “Under a Starless Sky,” by tonfea, because I am obsessed with that and think about it all the time.
Also we can’t talk about fics without a recommendation or two.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/5796496
This is a cute and short story about Makoto and Haru getting together through the power of a anime watch night.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/3197597?view_adult=true
This is about pro Haru returning from a tournament and spending quality time with Makoto, with a little bit of introspection. It’s a smut too.
Hiii!! YAY it’s fun to sit down and revisit different stories from over the years, seeing even in vastly different universes how the viewer’s perception of characters and their core motivations carefully evolved. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed a lot of the same stories — so many great ones out there but these journeys were some of the best imho 😌
YEAH YEAH YEAH big love for tonfea and their idol AU 💚💙 The drama! The stakes! Trying to build tenderness in their whirlwind life together because if they’re sure of anything anymore it’s their longing and devotion!!! It’s another one of those stories that aches to read with the all of the building tension but hooks you in for better or for worse anyway (which speaks to how well it’s written). Great rec, thanks for bringing it up 👏🏻
Your other two recs I hadn’t read before but WOW I’m glad you sent them!! I loved how “Inviolable” by noobishere weaved together tender moments I didn’t even know I wanted to see between Makoto and Haru until the scenes came up. It’s so fun to watch a non-linear storyline come together, seeing what beats and little details you focus on when jumping back and forth. Definitely one I’ll enjoy revisiting to watch those dorks have fun together. ALSO “warmth kept in the palm of my hand” by fio is spicy (good smut, for those looking for it) but I’m particularly intrigued by their end conversation. It’s wild to see older future fics talk about where everyone ends up and compare it to what direction canon went with. The way Makoto and Haru talk about the future here is short and sweet, but feels almost more fleshed out than what we saw in FS, if that makes sense?? Like, you could argue the difference between (spoilers ig) arriving at a decision pre-burnout versus crashing into that option during/post-burnout, but even then, you’d almost expect to see more conversations and unpacking happen with the latter. Anyway, I liked what they did with the idea of a reunion and some exploration into what a future would look like for mh if they continued to take those steps hand-in-hand.
As always, your taste is 🤌🏻 impeccable

February 3rd, 2035
Tumblr media
Auther's Note: I promised no angst (ish) story to the DL story. So here it is.
Available in AO3
Hakon helps J with setting up the place. The foundation is all set and there was just a few more things before they could get the place up and running!
“His dreams… I want to make that happen.”
Hakon was on his way to the building where his best friend Quinn and his partner Iskander used to live. A simple trip down memory lane as he carried a bag filled with building materials in his old but trusty bag—which has definitely seen better days at this point—and other things he is currently tasked to do. He remembered running around the buildings of Central Loop, around the apartment, to see who was the fastest.
Obviously, he would win all the time.
Even though he'd met the craftsman a few years ago, he'd grown quite fond of the Harran man. His crafts were the best that he knew, and not only that, he was a great guy. It's fun to chat with him or even hang out with him while he does his work.
It’s heartbreaking to know that Hakon wouldn’t be able to see those faces anymore. But that doesn't mean their legacy will be carried on by someone else.
J.
The adoptive son of Iskander before the fall, Hakon watched the kid grow from when they moved to the Fish Eye to work closely with the Nightrunners. He even remembers the day where J would spend a lot of time in one of the two places: The Workshop, where Iskander would always work, or the Range (truthfully, it’s just a platform where people can target practice at the infected below), where Quinn could be found practicing his archery.
Always a bundle of joy to be around.
Something bright for this dark apocalypse.
Though, not every bright star will always shine brightly.
Sprinting across the green shrugs that grew on the roofs, he boosted himself off one of the ventilation shafts with the front of his legs, aiming for the safety of the other side. After precisely jumping across the gap that the vast emptiness filled, Hakon lands with little effort. Freerunning has turned out to be a blessing in disguise; the ability to move from building to building to avoid the infected has been a valuable asset for any survivor.
Simple to learn and effective to use.
Hakon reaches a fenced area, UV lamps armed and ready for the night. Keeping the Volatiles away and any wondering bandits away from the building. He reaches for an opening as he calls out. “Hey, Ender. Where do you want these?”
Hakon chuckled at the name.
Ender.
“Awesome, you got the last things! Thanks a ton, Haks. Could you put them by the rest? I need your help with this.”
Coming from the door, J held a piece of paper in his hand, not paying attention to his surroundings.
“Oof-” J says, walking into a pile of boxes that he had left right outside the door.
The ex-nightrunner watches the kid catch himself the moment he trips over the box filled with stuffed toys. They scavenged toys from the storeroom, which they will later donate to schools in the Villador area.
Or, actually, Hakon would.
J had developed…
In any case, J felt more comfortable when he remained close to his apartment. He feels most secure somewhere. Hakon didn’t want to force him to experience another round of panic; it took them ages to get them from Alberto back to his apartment.
The safe zone is rather just an extension of J’s apartment, built with the help of the people back at the Fish Eye—Hakon tends to avoid them when they do. Taking advantage of the open space roof that was one floor below, they connected them with a stair from the balcony to the top of the newly constructed workshop. Other than that, the building itself matches that of the Fish Eye, only smaller. Maybe you could compare it to the bar area? That’s just the front bit, at least.
“Watch your step, kiddo.” Hakon chuckled, set the supplies down by the wooden stack, and approached the younger man.
It’s been almost a year since Iskander’s disappearance and Quinn’s death, and the situation has definitely improved over time. Hakon remembered how much of a mess things were a few days later, and it broke his heart to see how close J came to death.
Fortunately, even in the post-apocalyptic world, there were people who aided his recovery greatly. Despite his best efforts to pay him a visit at Alberto, Hakon needed to deal with that bastard Waltz.
He hated working for the man.
He knew J would be on the radar, just like Lawan.
Hakon needed to play it safe and keep his distance until things cooled down whenever he had a job to do.
Oddly, this period seems to be much quieter, as his presence with the Renegades was almost second to none. Giving the chance for the ex-nightrunner the chance to spend some time with his best friend’s son and be the uncle he deserves.
“Whatcha need help with?”
“This weird-shaped thing.” J pointed at a rough drawing on the wrinkled piece of paper. It has seen better days, but for what they are worth, they are worth a lot to the craftsman. They were plans drawn by Iskander’s very own hand before they were put away to collect dust on some shelf.
Iskander always wanted to open a shop—not just that but also a place where people could come together.
Right under their home.
Sure, they had the Fish Eye, the Bazaar, the PK ship, and all that, but he wanted somewhere that J could somewhat grow, learn, and love.
His very own place of work.
Although there were some difficulties in reading the language it was written in, the best they could decipher was through the crude-looking drawings that the master craftsman had. If they had someone who could read the Turkish language, then it could have made everything much easier. J always had trouble learning another language; the native tongue of Villador was the closest thing he could muster, to some extent.
But for now, they’ll only have to assume what the details are saying based on observation.
“I don’t know…” taking the paper into his hand to study the drawing, “Are you sure that’s not a doodle of a fish?”
“Honestly, I’m starting to think it is.” J would take a deep breath and pull out a notebook from his pockets, attempting to clear his mind of the tasks that needed to be completed. Taking the paper back, neatly folded it into one of the pages. “Okay, we’ll worry about that later. But…”
Hakon followed him closely as they entered the building.
“But…?” Hakon would take a wooden chair, placing it in front of him as he sat with his chest against the back. “Kiddo, you need to stop with the pause.”
Rising to take a seat at the counter, grabbing a water bottle beside him, and tossing it at the Frenchman who caught it. “Are we rushing this?”
“What makes you think that?” Tugging on the top of the bottle, he squeezed the bottle to let the precious liquid flow into his mouth.
Water, at last.
All that carrying made him thirsty for the substance.
“Be realistic. It’s almost a year.” J quietly said, staring at the ground. “I can’t even leave this place without being.. You know.”
Hakon paused, lowering the bottle.
“I’m still getting nightmares about that day.”
“Kid…”
“Don’t kid me, Hakon. I feel like this whole idea is just a way for me to cope with my loss, what if I’m not ready? What if I fail?”
“J–”
With his hands under his head, J was about to have another round.
“It’s going to happen again. It’s going to happen to you someday and I won–”
Hakon stood from his seat, approaching the panicking Filipino with both his hands on J’s shoulders for reassurance.
“Joseph.” He said.
“I–” J looked up from his hands, staring at Hakon’s dark iris, before looking back down at his hands to realise what was happening. He hasn’t heard his name for a while now, he always hated being called by his first name like that. Hakon watched as J began scanning the black fabric over his arms, muttering, “I’m sorry—” clenching his fist before taking a deep breath.
“God dammit…”
“That’s it. Just take a breath, that’s all.” Hakon ruffles his hair as he takes a seat next to J, holding out a small oat bar he had gotten from the Fish Eye’s canteen. “Here, I’m not hungry anyway.” He lies. It was the last one in stock before it would go out of sale, so he took the chance to get it for a deal. It’s not like he’ll die without it, so what harm would it do if he gave it to the craftsman?
“Haks, you’re bad at lying but…” J takes the offering, taking a bite out of the bar greedily. “Thank you.”
Of course, when it comes to the kid, Hakon couldn’t hide everything from J. No matter how much he tries to hide, there are always subtle hints in his actions. However, the only thing he managed to keep strong was his collaboration with Waltz.
The best-kept secrets are those that are never spoken of.
And he intends to keep it that way for his safety.
“That you are, with a keen eye as always.” Hakon smirked happily as he chugged from his bottle. “You’re getting better at managing those attacks.”
After bringing the young craftsman to the bazaar, where Alberto had agreed to care for him for the next few months, it was preferable if he were somewhere Hakon could visit without being discovered by the Renegades, especially since Alberto was a close friend of Iskander when they lived there. They also managed to find someone who could help manage J’s panic attacks, encouraging him to find ways to cope with his trauma.
A few months later, his recovery was exponential.
His love to craft things and help others was his motivation.
Just like them.
It was less than a month when J returned to the Central Loop and back to his apartment, though the journey was trickier. Getting him between distant locations was more difficult than bringing him to the bazaar in the first place.
“This is what I mean, Hakon. Is it even possible for me to manage something like this on my own? I’ve barely recovered, and even the little things trigger them.” J inquired, his head resting on Hakon's shoulders.
“Things take time, even some wounds will take longer to heal. And you’re a strong person. Despite the stress you're burdened with, you've still pushed through, despite it still dragging you back…” "...and do you really want to back down now?" Hakon says as he sets the bottle down. We’re very close to getting the doors opened, and my back would appreciate not carrying any more things back and fourth.” He jokes.
“Hakon, seriously.”
“I kid. Of course you’re ready.” The Frenchman smiles as he pats J's head, much like a proud parent would. ”You’ve practised a lot with your old man, and I have full confidence in you.”
“Without him?”
“Trust me, you’ll do fine. I’ll be hanging out just to give you moral support.”
“You mean to flirt?”
“Kiddo, you know me too much.”
“Is this why people call you a whore?”
“Hey–hey! Who taught you that word?”
“That’s a secret.” J hopped off the counter, turning back to look back at the old man with a gleeful smirk written on his face. "Break's over, Whore-kon. Get your ass moving, we still have some hours left till dark."
“I–” Hakon stared blankly, hearing the term "Whore-kon."
That’s new.
And he hates it.
Hakon glances at the kid from the corner of his eyes as he grumbles.
At least he’s happy.
So he'll admit defeat for now.
“Sir yes sir…”

Minors try not to interact! <3
Tumblr media
Age is just a number, so surely, there's nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed of, right?
There's no reason for you to not fall for the friendly neighborhood bachelor, well not so bachelor bachelor, since he does go around asking people who knows of his marriage to pretend it never took place.
Johnny's hot, super hot. Has the build of a supermodel. Has the face that one can only imagine belongs to a greek god, as you'd jokingly tell him how he seemed to be god's favorite and how you loathe Aphrodite for showing favoritism (which would always end up with you getting a very sultry, teasing look from the lad)
Johnny has the type of personality that women can only wish the entirety of the male species would possess. He's an absolute sweetheart, life of the party, definitely the center of attention wherever he goes. And oh god, does he have an immaculate fashion sense.
But Johnny's also the father of Donghyuck. Your best friend.
More than being ashamed about the fact that you actually fell in love with a man who has a child of your age, it was the fact that you had to fall for Donghyuck's father of all people.
Donghyuck is a sweetheart, definitely got his personality from his father but he's also got that glare that could creep the Lord's of the darkness from his father. He's got so much from his father that the resemblance is uncanny.
You'd not want to get onto hyuck's bad side since you've gotten first hand experience at stopping him from almost committing homicide to someone who spoke shit about his friends, more specifically, you.
But Hyuck's not in town. So a little fun with Mr. Suh wouldn't hurt anyone, correct? After all, you're still only a human with desires and the want to take risks.
You'd always not so subtly drop hints at Johnny and he'd always give you that look that would have slick collecting itself between your thighs. A warning look.
A look that said, "cross the line and you'll get it"
But that's the thing, you want to get it and will do anything to get it.
Tumblr media
"Y/n."
You'd ask yourself less than a million times if you want to do this or not.
Sure, you weren't this hesitant when you decided to sext your best friend's father knowingly when he was in business mode to irk him up but that's one thing.
And having to confront the same father who left a message smaller than a sentence that completely disregarded all the obscene text and images to show that he's not the slightest bothered or suprised by your behavior for that matter was another thing.
"Tomorrow at mine."
It's almost as though he deals with hormonal teenagers one as such as yourself on a daily basis and that thought kind of backfired at you considering the whole 'Let's piss Johnny off so that he'd finally give me what i want' agenda.
Ironic, huh?
"Mr. Suh." you start hesitantly, unsure of what to call him, scared of what his reaction would be after your inappropriate shenanigans last night.
Your stiff demeanor broke down a little with just a hint of shiver passing down your spine as you watch his features contort into a subtle but cocky smirk, "So now you're being all formal,"
"Well, what else would you like me to address you as?" you inquire, feigning oblivion to his tone and what he's implying at. "You tell me, doll. You seemed to have a lot of names to call me last night," he takes a step forward, prompting you to walk a step backwards, further into the corridors of his apartment and away from the actual location.
"I do not know what you're talking about.. " you let your voice shrivel towards the end, eyes wandering around the complex, finding interest in every small detail as you avoid Johnny's teasing gaze.
"You don't?" Johnny takes another step forward, latching his hands onto your forearms to prevent you from stepping further away, "You must have had a heavy sleep to forget all that you did last night," his voice drops dangerously low as he begins to walk backwards and back into the safety of his apartment, all the while keeping his gaze fixated on you.
"That won't do, would it? How about we take a walk down the memory lane? And see if that rings any bell?" He brushes your hair away from its static position on your shoulder, allowing him to appreciate all those fine details of your shoulders and neck that are exposed from your selection of clothing, an off shoulder.
"How about we don't...?" You ask with skepticism, jolting slightly when you hear the door shut behind you and at the new intrusion of personal space by the lad.
"Why are you acting all shy now, Y/n? Weren't you the one so eager to get into her best friend's fathers pants? Just be the whore you are, darling. Your facade's fooling no one." okay you definitely didn't see that coming.
Johnny's expressions morph into that of mischief as he watches your eyes grow wide and mouth fall ajar, "Am i not correct? Are you not a whore?" he asks with an eyebrow quirked up in a questioning manner.
You don't reply, almost as though the question was meant to linger in the open and that it was a rhetorical one. What you didn't expect, however, was for Johnny's hands to find pursuit around your neck, not necessarily applying pressure, but there as a warning.
"Answer me."
"I'm not.." you answer with a feeble voice, internally cringing at how squeaky you sound which only added to Johnny's amusement.
"Really? Because I don't think good girls go around drooling at a divorced man, her friend's father for that matter and definitely do not send lewd images and voice out their fantasies to a guy twice their age, still want to pretend you're innocent? Or you admit it and we cut down the chase?"
"Yes, I am." you breathe out when his fingers tighten around your neck, a triumphant smile making its way onto his lips. Yet, Johnny felt the need to keep pushing,
"you're what?"
"I am what you said I am," you speak, trying to avoid looking at the scrutinizing look on his face which seemed futile as he had his arms wrapped around your neck, keeping your head in place.
"I want to hear you say it, doll. I need to hear you say it." At this point Johnny's intent was to get you into a flustered puddle in his hold and it sure as hell was going in that direction, seeing how you can't even hold his gaze for more than a few seconds in a shot.
"I am.. I am a who-"
The sound of a phone ringing loud cut you off midway through your sentence, to which you were absolutely relieved. Johnny only seemed to grow annoyed the more he heard the phone ring. With a loud huff, he lets you go, not before giving you a stern look, "Go to my room." he instructed, making his way to the study.
You let out a breath you've been holding in unknowingly the moment he steps away from you. You watch his figure retreat from you with awe, only now realizing how messy you felt between your legs and how your knees keep buckling.
"Oh Hyuck!" you hear Johnny exclaim into the phone the minute you step forward to follow his command.
Your best friend is on call with the guy you're about to fuck.
Your blood runs cold as you shakily make your way into the apartment and towards the bedroom, shrugging off your sling bag, hanging it behind the door as you place your phone on the bedside table to wipe your hands dry from all the sweat that had accumulated at the palm of your hands.
"Yeah, I'm fine, about to eat to my dinner actually" you hear the moment to make yourself comfortable at the edge of the bed, looking over to the door where Johnny stood with his arms across his chest, the other holding up the phone as he leans his weight onto one shoulder, leaning into the doorframe.
You take the time to really appreciate his appearance. He adorned nothing more than a simple grey sweat and tight black tee but he seemed ready to walk down a runway at any given moment now. His long hair, slightly disheveled looking almost intentionally messed up, compliments his features. And oh his features.
The everlasting smirk stayed still on his lips, moving as he exchanged words with his son.
You only come back to your senses when Johnny snapped his free hand in front of you, gaining your attention. He points at his own shirt, then points at you, mouthing 'off' while he listens to Donghyuck speak about whatever he's speaking.
"Really? Jeno said that? Tell him I'm more than willing to welcome him as my gym partner, the lad seems strong" Johnny makes a quick move to remove the gadget from his ear, before holding it in front of him after placing the call on speaker mode
Your eyes widen the moment you hear the disturbance in the background and Donghyuck's voice resonate through the room. "no?? Why would you want to work out with him? He'll only make you feel old, you know?"
"Says the one who still can't beat me at arm wrestling. If anything, i think Jeno would make the perfect gym buddy for me," Johnny raises an eyebrow at your defiance, cocking his head towards the side, staring down at you with a predatory look, "Hyuck, you know, Y/n-" you scramble to take your shirt off at the mention of your name on the call, "-stopped by earlier" he lets out a silent laugh of disbelief.
"Oh? Oh yeah! I'd told her I'd give her book back before I left but I forgot, did you perhaps give it back to her?" Donghyuck questions.
"I figured you must've forgotten so, yeah i did." Johnny replies, pushing himself off of the doorframe, now walking towards you.
"Man, I miss her! I might facetime her after I end the call with you," Johnny sets down the phone beside you on the bed, leaning down, placing both his hands on either side of your lap, finding comfort at the crook of your neck,
"I remember her mentioning something about her cousin coming over? Maybe wait for an hour or so before calling her" his lips graze against your neck each time he spoke, you let out a tiny whimper at the so longed feeling, only to earn yourself a small bite at the earlobe, immediately accompanied by a hand over your mouth, "you need to be quiet, doll. Or my son would find out how much of a slut his best friend is," he whispers in your ear.
"Yeah? Did she mention which one?"
"No, not really, she kinda just stormed out after getting what she wanted" Johnny creates a trail of kisses all the way from your neck to your shoulders, down the collarbone while one of his hand worked to unhook your bra, "Yeah, she's weird like that," you hear Donghyuck let out a chuckle as you whine into Johnny's palm, your figure slightly trembling from the fear of getting caught all the while being excited about the risky situation he's put the two of you in.
"Anyways, I'll call you tomorrow? The boys are coming over now so I got to go! Night, dad!" Donghyuck speaks up again, "Night, Hyuck."
You hear the beep indicating the call has ended. Johnny let's his hand drop from your mouth and makes its way towards your hair, brushing through the strands before pulling at it with a firm grip, "I had my son on call and here you are making all these sweet noises, you wanted to get busted, doll?"
"It's not my fault! You-"
"ah-ah! Don't talk back, angel. You're already in deep trouble, don't want to add onto that now, do we?" He makes a swift move to have you lying on your back, your torso completely exposed to him while he remains clothed.
"But Johnny-" you whine, jolting when you feel his hands caressing the soft flesh of your inner thighs, "How do you think Hyuck would feel about this?" his hands travel further north, cupping your heat from underneath your skirt. "fuck, you're drenched"
"Now tell me, pretty girl, what are you supposed to be calling me, now?"
"Johnny-, tha-that was a joke! I don't have daddy kin-" you try clenching your thighs close from the sudden attention your core was receiving. Johnny wholeheartedly lets out a laugh at your attempt to hide your true feelings, making a quick act of disregarding your soaked panties somewhere behind him.
"Darling, the more you deny it, the longer we keep going at it-" his thumbs at your clit, applying pressure but making no move to quench your needs. You let out a sigh of bliss at the feeling, your back arching off of the sheets at the sensation.
In any other situation, you'd be embarrassed at how sensitive you'd gotten just from all the dirty talking and looks Johnny passed you. But that's the catch, he's Johnny, the only one who can get you this sensitive while doing the bare minimum.
"Say it, Y/n."
"No, Johnny! It's-it's embarrassing.." you plead with your eyes, grinding your hips against his fingers, earning a satisfied, dirty look from the lad.
"Very well.. I'll just draw it out of you"
Without warning, Johnny with little to no resistance, slides two slender digits into your wetness, setting a pace fast enough to draw loud chains of cries from your mouth.
"You hear that, doll? You hear how fucking wet you are? Hm?" he growls animalistically, the thumb that remained on your clit now moving in circles with a motive to get you undone in seconds.
"Johnn-..!" you whine out, feeling your orgasm growing so close that you could almost taste it, "Still going at that, angel?" he questions, not really expecting an answer as he soaks up the pleasured look on your face. "Johnny- I'm close.. -" you fail to notice the mischievous grin growing on his face as he speeds up the movement of his fingers.
"Of course you are, doll" He feels you clench around his fingers, back coming off of the mattress as you ready yourself for your release, waiting until the last minute to draw his finger out.
"Why would you-? Johnn-I was so close!" you cry out as you sense your core clench around nothing, whining about the incomplete orgasm. "Why would I give you what you want when you wouldn't comply, baby? That's not how this works." He shrugs, licking his fingers clean of your essence, moving up from the bed to remove the shirt that seemed to be suffocating now.
"Johnny, please!" you whine louder, rubbing your thighs together to create some sort of friction, all unsatisfactory as it did not meet the same intensity as that of his fingers.
"Please what, doll?" He smirks, knowing the ball is in his court and that you'd had to give in any moment now. Johnny leans down once again, drawing lazy circles at your clit, using his other hand to hold himself up above and close to you, his minty breath which had a hint of coffee fanning your face as you whimper, finally feeling your high building itself up again. "Spit it out, princess, you know you want to." he speaks in a soft voice.
"Please..please" you beg for nothing in particular, getting all worked up again, "The begging's lovely, doll. But you're starting to anger me here, will you say it? Or should I leave you hanging again?"
You mutter prayers under your breath, hoping he wouldn't actually leave you hanging again, "Fine-" he moves again to remove his fingers from you to deprive you of pleasure all over again when you finally latch onto his wrist, keeping his hands in place blurting out, "Daddy! I'm so-sorry.. There, daddy, please make me come" you give in, the name, the feeling and look of pure victory on his face as he grins like a cheshire cat only intensifies the heat growing at a rapid pace at the pit of your stomach.
"Final fucking ly, princess. Daddy will make you feel good" He reinserts his fingers in, drilling it with desperation to see you come undone as he draws rapid circles on your now sensitive clit with the other hand, watching you squirm under him.
"Joh-Daddy i'm coming..!" you cry out weakly as you feel your orgasm hit you with much force, easily driving you into over sensitivity. Johnny's patient in helping you ride out your orgasm, not stopping until you let out a throaty sob and plead him to stop to allow yourself some room to breathe.
Johnny, however, makes no move to stop, only speeding up his fingers, his gaze fixed on where his fingers disappeared inside of you while his other hand held you down with a vise grip, "Give me one more, doll. I know you've got one more in you. " he pants, the feeling of his girth in confinement only throwing himself to sensory deprivation as he feels himself twitch inside his sweats painfully.
You shake your head, tears now flowing elegantly down your cheek, your lips puckered into a slight pout, your eyebrows drawn together as you let yourself melt into the pleasure Johnny was providing you with. "Daddy.."
You whine, feeling your second high reaching you ridiculously quick as you see Johnny's face contort in concentration,
"I need to get you nice and wet for me, princess, you're doing so well. Give daddy another one" you coaxes you with his sultry tone, words and actions, inevitably having you come undone under him for the second time that night.
You let out a choked moan, finally having enough as you curl upon yourself the minute Johnny removes his fingers from you, full fledged crying at the overbearing feeling of sensitivity.
Johnny groans at the sight, leaning down to press a soft peck on your sweaty forehead before getting off of the bed to remove his pants alongside his boxer at a slow speed, granting you some time to recover.
"Condom?" he asks, readying himself to reach into the drawing when he notices you shake your head a no as a reply, "I'm on pills.." you mutter weakly.
You hear him curse out at the thought of doing you raw, flexing his muscles before climbing on top of you again. He takes his time to gently turn you back onto your back, pressing his tender lips against your irritated one for the first time that night, his hand ever so slightly moving to play with your clit once again, making you jerk, "Daddy!"
"Sorry, doll. Daddy just needs to make sure that princess is ready to take his cock"
Your whining intensifies at his words, wiggling your hips to move closer to his own, "But I am ready! Look, daddy! I'm so wet and ready for you!" you whimper, earning a chuckle from the lad.
Just like all the other times that night, he aligns his cock at your entrance without a warning, the tip ever so slightly pushing through your walls, "Alright, big girl. Show daddy how much of a slut you can be for him."
Suddenly, Johnny detaches himself from you, moving further away as he leans by the edge of the door, smirking at you whining at the loss of contact, "Patience, angel"
He grabs hold of your hips, manhandling your body into all fours as he enters you completely with no trouble once he's got you where he wants you to be.
Something about having to take Johnny from behind was so sexy that you could almost immediately feel your orgasm grow, "Fuck baby, keep clenching around me like that and i won't last long," he grunts, moving in you with a steady pace,
"I never expected my son to befriend such filthy sluts like you, Y/n. Look at the mess you're making on my sheets" He grabs a fistful of your ass in a tight squeeze, the sudden shift in his demeanor only serving as a whiplash as you feel yourself growing closer and closer to the sweet orgasm.
"Jesus, doll, you're so fucking tight i can barely move" Johnny growls, talking to keep himself from coming too fast.
"Daddy.. I'm close. M-I'm so so close" you cry as your arms give out and you fall face first onto the mattress, the new stretch in your back only encouraging his cock to hit you deeper, finding the sweet cushion that serves as extra pleasure for you.
"Me too, princess, me too.. '' You hear him let out a whine, his thrusts growing sloppier as he does you slower but deeper.
He reaches around your body to find pursuit at your clit for the nth time that night, rubbing rapid, messy circles to go with his deep thrusts, "Daddy!" you reach your high with a high pitched cry of his name.
Johnny comes not too long after you as he couldn't resist the constant tight clenching of your walls around his cock. He thrust slowly to ride out his high as you twitch helplessly, face scrunched up in too much pleasure.
You feel your body being manoeuvred onto your side as he whispers sweet nothings which pass right through your ears as you feel him softened inside you, the feeling ridiculously soothing for your used up walls,
"You did amazing, darling." he kisses your temple, not making any move to remove himself from within you, which you silently thanked him for.
You both lay in silence as you turned your body towards him, earning a hiss and a playful smack from him as it added pressure onto his sensitive member. You wrap your arms around his torso, about to nuzzle into his chest and just drift away to dreamland when you hear the familiar ring of your phone from the table beside the bed.
You feel Johnny's body shift to reach out to get your phone, looking at the caller ID before handing it to you with a smirk that you knew meant that he was up to no good. "Oh! It's hyuck" you exclaim in shock, quickly accepting the call and placing it near your ear, moving to get away from him.
But Johnny seemed to have other ideas, as he latched an arm around your torso to keep you from moving, "Hey-" you begin, immediately feeling Johnny experimentally thrust into you again, making you whine, "Y/n! I miss you~-oh hey, are you okay?" you hear Donghyuck's voice from the other side,
You look at Johnny with a pleading and warning gaze to which you earn yourself a toothy grin from the lad,
"Of co-course! Just a little.. peachy,'' You turn around to place a hand on his chest to halt his movement, "You don't sound just peachy.. I've heard you like this before!" you hear Donghyuck make those noises he makes when he's thinking as Johnny keeps thrusting lazily the more you look at him, you see him open his mouth to speak, "Oh fuck! You're getting laid, aren't you???"
"Tell Hyuck daddy says hi"

Kinktober Day 2: Floor Sex
Kinktober Masterlist | Regular Masterlist
Pairing: Lucy Boynton x Reader
Words: 1947
Warnings: slight dom!reader and sub!lucy, mommy kink, reference to anal play, reference to sex toys, vaginal fingering, scissoring.
A/N: highkey i have missed writing Lucy. This was fun to write.
The movers you’d hired had managed to cram just about everything you owned into their truck, minus a few boxes of necessities you wanted quick access to which, thankfully, fit snuggly into your car. They’d left about thirty seconds ago, rumbling off with all your possessions towards your new house where Lucy’s mum was waiting to supervise the unloading. Youd arrive only a little after them anyway but you were glad Mrs Boynton was there to help manage things all the same. Moving was a daunting task. But also, an exciting one.
Lucy took your hand in hers as you wandered through the empty apartment, ostensibly checking for anything that might have accidentally been left behind, but really so you could say goodbye to the place you’d called home for so long.   You squeezed her hand as you looked around the kitchen, made slightly unfamiliar by its decluttering, “I’m honestly so excited to have a whole house of our own.” Lucy laughed, the sweet sound enough to make you smile, “Same, but I’m kinda going to miss this place too.” “Luce, you didn’t even live here, it was my apartment.” “Well I practically lived here for at least a few months. Half of the shit we just put in the truck was mine.” You rolled your eyes, “Yes but you don’t know how annoying this place was. I mean the kichen counters alone.” “What’s wrong with the counters?” “Never enough room.” “That’s just cause you like to make a mess when you bake. And because I like to sit right next to where you’re working to watch you.” “Good thing the new place has bigger counters then.” Lucy laughed again and pulled you out the doorway.
Even in the hallway Lucy was able to find something to reminisce about and, to your bemusement, she managed to pull you down memory lane with her, even if more of your memories were coloured by roomate drama and structural problems Lucy had never had to deal with. But, upon entering the dingy bathroom you were struck by a particular memory that made you giggle. “Remember when you beat me home that one time and caught Billie with that random guy?” “Oh god don’t remind me. Water coming out from under the bathroom door and the worst noise imaginable. I thought for sure the shower had broken and was flooding the place, so I open the door only to be greeted by his asshole as she spread his cheeks! Took me a week to get it out of my head and you’ve just gone and put it back, thanks very much.” Your giggle turned into a cackle as Lucy recounted the incident. As much as she might pretend to have forgotten it, you knew it was a frequently told story. Lucy had it down to an art with appropriate hand gestures and just the right inflection to put you in stitches.   “I’m just glad I interrupted before she started fingering him.” “She’s still embarrassed about it,” you managed to say around your laughter. “Maybe that’s why she moved out so quickly. Just lucky timing the lease was up.” “Thank god she never walked in on us. Think we must have done it in just about every room of this place.” That made Lucy snort, “At least we kept anal stuff in the bedroom.”
As you moved back into the hallway Lucy pointed back at the kitchen, “We definitely fucked in there - counters weren’t too small that night. And I’ve lost count of all the shower sex.” From then on the reminiscing took on a thoroughly adult tone with Lucy seemingly determined to point out every corner of the house the two of you had ever canoodled in. With each memory she seemed to press herself just a little closer into you and by the time you made it back to the living room and the very last boxes that needed to go out to the car, she was practically hanging off your arm, her bottom lip between her teeth. “Well, we should probably get a move on, get this stuff loaded and hit the road.” you said, jabbing a thumb at the boxes.   “Wait,” Lucy said, letting go of you just so she could block your path, “We should give this place a proper goodbye first.” Out of habit you glanced to the wall your old cuckoo clock had lived on, frowning when you realised it was already halfway to the new place, “what do you mean? Burn some sage or something?” Lucy didn’t respond and when you turned away from the wall you realised why. She was already down to her underwear, a lilac coloured bra and blue boyshorts.   “Really Luce? There’s not even any furniture left to fuck on.” “We don’t need furniture,” She said, reaching for your hands, “Plus, mum’s going to stay to help us unpack which means she’ll stay for dinner and then we’ll have more unpacking to do tomorrow when the boys come over to help move the furniture around and we probably won't have much chance for at least a couple of days. And we might be too worn out from everything else by then.” She paused, letting all her arguments sink in. And then she brought out her big guns, pouting prettily as she said, “Please Mommy.”
“All very good points,” you conceded, already moving to peel your own shirt off, “But we can’t take too long or your mum’ll wonder where we are.” Lucy smiled and agreed as she dropped to her knees, reaching out to help remove your pants.   You combed your fingers through her hair and let her do the work, the sight of her kneeling for you always a pleasing one, until she’d tugged your pants down enough that you could kick them off. After that you commanded her to lay back as you hastily removed your undies and dropped to pull hers off too. By the time you’d straddled Lucy’s naked hips she was near panting, her chest rising rapidly within the confines of her bra. You loved how excited she got at just the thought of her touch and decided it’d be fun to tease her, just a little. So you leaned down to kiss her, softer than she was anticipating. Your lips brushed lightly over hers as you grabbed for her wrists, pinning her arms over her head.   Lucy whined though you weren’t sure which action was more to blame. Either way it was entertaining. You rewarded her with a firmer kiss, finding her lips parting as she silently begged for more. Her breaths quickly turned to near panting as you broke away and sat up again.   She looked almost dazed as she lay there, hands remaining above her head even as you dragged your fingers down her arms. You let your fingers trail towards her chest, feeling her arch into your touch as you palmed her breasts, teasing her nipples through her bra. It was impossible to feel anything but desire and without thinking you rolled your hips, seeking your pleasure.
“Sh-shame the dildos packed up,” Lucy said, her voice airy and breathless, her attempt at teasing you just as effective on herself.   “I know,” you cooed, “my poor angel won’t get to ride mommy’s cock the way she loves. But I did say we have to be fast remember, and you get so eager for mommy to fill your little cunt that she can’t help but want to fuck you for hours and hours. My fingers will just have to do for now.” You repositioned yourself, spreading Lucy’s legs wider and moving to hover over her thigh so you could watch your fingers slide along her slick lips.   She keened at your touch, trying to raise her hips to meet you as you teased her hole, dipping just the tip of your finger inside. “But I promise, as soon as everything is unpacked and we’re alone in our brand new house, mommy will give you all the cock you want.” Lucy nodded and whined out a, “yes mommy,” but it was her expression that gave away just how badly she wanted more. And you felt pretty desperate yourself. Between watching Lucy writhe under your touch and imagining all the ways you could have her without worrying about a roommate interrupting, you were well and truly wet. You couldn’t stand another second of build up. You needed he now.
Moving quickly you pulled your hand away from her cunt, taking hold of her thigh to push it up and slightly to the side. She didn’t even try to fight the movement, letting you position her how you wanted. Shifting her leg made her pussy more accessible and you angled yourself so that, as you lowered yourself down, your cunt lips brushed against hers. Her other thigh was under your ass as you rocked forward, your slick mixing with hers so make humping her so much easier. It didn’t take you long to find a rhythm and a pace that allowed your clit to rub against hers as you leant over her, pleasure shooting down both your spines with each pass. She moaned quickly, already a little more worked up than you. But you weren’t too far off and the grinding of your cunt against hers soon had you moaning too.   Lucy was nearly senseless with desire, but you were still cohesive enough to marvel at how stunning she was as she whined and moaned and begged in a series of half words.   Seeing her like that, skin flushed, hair fanned out over the floor, lips parted, made you want nothing more than to fulfil her desires, to see her cum the way she so obviously needed to. It spurred you on more than anything, your pace becoming faster, your strokes shorter. You could hear how wet you both were, could feel when Lucy tried to grind up into you. Her hips would rise off the floor a little but you kept her mostly pinned in place so you could be the one to get her off.   “Close,” Lucy mewled. You wanted to kiss her, wanted to lean down and feel your nipples press against hers as you caught her lips and swallowed her sounds. But you were worried that if you did you’d lose the rhythm you’d built, that you’d ruin what you were rapidly hurtling towards.   And then Lucy came, her breath catching in her throat as you pushed her over the edge. She stiffened and shuddered beneath you, lips widening in a silent moan. You kept rocking above her, wanting to prolong the feeling and the sight of your girlfriend cumming under you. But you were close too, reaching the precipice as Lucy’s subsided.   She was watching you in wrapt attention, though you didn’t see. You’d let your eyes close so you could focus on reaching your release. But you heard it when she called you mommy again, the word half pleading, and you felt it when she grabbed your thighs, encouraging you to keep humping her. It all quickly grew to be too much and you came, biting your lip.
Lucy was the make a sound, her quiet giggle becoming a full laugh that was entirely too charming and contagious.   “Don’t know what came over me,” she said, her cheeks and chest still stained with blush as she redressed, “The floor was maybe a mistake, I wish we’d had something soft to put down first.” You snorted but pulled her in for a kiss, “It was worth it though I think. ’Spose we should probably give the floor another mop though.”

Memory Lane
Pairing: Adam Ruzek x reader
Summary: Y/N gets severely injured on the job, and throughout her time in and out of consciousness, she recalls the memories that she's shared with Adam throughout the years
Requested: No
Warnings: slight swearing, mentions of getting shot
Word Count: 1,718 Words
Tumblr media
One minute, I was fine. The next, I was on the ground, clutching at my shirt which was stained dark red with blood. It wasn't supposed to go down like this. It was a simple exchange, money for drugs, but everything went sideways when a patrol car intercepted the meeting. That was especially bad news for Adam and I seeing as neither of us had on bullet proof vests.
"Y/N!" Adam shouted and hooked his arms under my armpits before dragging me behind our car. Gunfire echoed around us, but the only thing I was trying to focus on was Adam. "5021 Ida. I need an ambo to the south block of Union. We're in the abandoned lot near the factories. My partner's been shot."
"Copy that 5021 Ida. An ambulance is 3 minutes out," the dispatcher replied.
"Adam," I murmur.
"No, Y/N, don't talk," Adam ordered and pressed his hands onto my wound, which caused me to wince. "Save your strength. Everything's gonna be okay."
"I've been shot in the stomach and I'm lying in a pool of blood," I whisper and clutch Adam's arm. "It's not cool to lie to me when I'm dying."
"Hey, you are not going to die on me. Not here, not now, now ever," Adam said. I nodded as my vision started to blur slightly, and I began to lose my strength. My grip on Adam's forearm loosened and my hand fell slack to the side, hitting the rocky gravel pavement. I could feel my conscious fading away, and it took everything in my power to keep my eyes the slightest bit open. Adam noticed my sudden silence, and when he realized that my eyes were staring to close, his face was flooded with worry. "Keep your eyes open, darling. The ambulance is almost here. You can do it."
I wanted to be strong for Adam, but it was getting hard to stay awake. My brain was begging me to close my eyes and get some rest, and I fought the urge to lose consciousness for as long as I could, but that didn't last forever. I felt my eyes flutter shut, the last thing I saw being Adam's distressed face. It was weird though, being unconscious. Everything was black, and there was no light in sight. That's when the black disappeared though, and suddenly, I was reliving the time Adam and I first met.
Flashback
"Here are the papers you requested Trudy. All 26 of them," I declare and place the stack of papers on the front desk.
"I'm impressed," Trudy confessed. "I didn't think you'd get it done in time."
"Hey, we may be short in the bullpen, but that doesn't mean I can't get my own work done quickly," I say.
"Speaking of being short on people, Al's brining in the new recruit now," Trudy spoke and nodded behind me. I turned around just as Al bounded up the front steps with our new rookie trailing a few steps behind him.
"Hey, Al," I greet my co-worker. "Who's this?"
"Y/N, this is Adam Ruzek. He's going to be our newest team member. And Adam, this is Y/N L/N," Al introduced. "She's one of the members of Intelligence."
"It's nice to meet you," Adam admitted.
"Yeah. You too," I reply.
"So, are you gonna be my partner?" Adam questioned.
I laughed softly. "Sorry, but I'm partnered up with Antonio. You're stuck with Al."
"Oh. Al was telling me about you on the ride over so I just figured..." Adam trailed off, a slight blush rising to his cheeks.
"He's cute. I like him," I tell Al.
Al chuckled. "I figured you would."
"Well, Adam, it was nice meeting you, but I've gotta get back upstairs and finish some more paperwork. Al, would you mind buzzing me up? My print hasn't been working lately," I explain.
"Sure. Ruzek, I need you to stay here and fill out some paperwork with Sergeant Platt. She can let you up when you're done," Al said.
"Got it. Again, it was nice meeting you, Y/N," Adam voiced.
Flashback Ends
When I slightly regained consciousness, my eyes cracked open the tiniest bit, just enough for me to know that I was in an ambulance. I could hear the sirens echoing on the street outside and feel the bounce of the wheels as they drove on the concrete road. I could also feel Adam squeezing my hand as a paramedic tended to my wound. But all of that disappeared in a matter of seconds as I slipped away for the second time that afternoon. This time, I was brought back to our first kiss.
Flashback
"No way! That never happened," I object and laugh.
"Yes it did. I swear. My dad walked in on me and my girlfriend at the time making out," Adam claimed.
"That must've been so embarrassing. I would've hid from my parents for a month if that happened to me," I say.
"Yeah, well, I was a teenager, and they provided me food and shelter, so I couldn't exactly avoid them," Adam joked.
"Well, this is me," I murmur and gesture to the apartment building a few yards up. Adam nodded and pulled to the curb, parking his car to let me out. Just before I could exit the car, Adam stopped me.
"Let me walk you up," Adam spoke and climbed out of the car. I shook my head, a small smile playing on my lips, and exited the car. I slung my purse over my shoulder and joined Adam on the sidewalk, and together, the two of us walked up the stairs of my apartment complex and stopped at the front door.
"I had fun tonight," I confess and turn to face Adam. "We should do this again sometime."
Adam nodded. "Definitely. But uh, before I go, there's one more thing I have to do." And with that, Adam leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. I smiled against his lips and moved my hands up to cup his cheeks, which caused him to wrap his arms around my waist and pull me closer. I could taste the faintest bit of beer on his lips, and it went surprisingly well with the wine flavor that was still occupying my tongue. The kiss only lasted for a few seconds, and I was a bit upset when we pulled away from each other. "I couldn't leave without giving you a goodnight kiss," Adam admitted. "Goodnight, Y/N."
"Night, Adam," I reply.
Flashback Ends
This time, when I came to, I was being wheeled into the ER at Chicago Med. I had an oxygen mask over my nose and mouth to help me breathe, but that didn't help much with my labored breathing. Through my squinted eyes, I could make out a few people hovering above me, but I couldn't seem to hear what they were saying. Along with Adam and the paramedics, I saw Dr. Rhodes, who was wheeling my stretcher in the direction of the elevators. I didn't stay conscious for long, and when I drifted off, I was seeing another memory.
Flashback
"Y/N, can we just talk? Please," Adam pleaded. I ignored his pleas from where I was seated on the floor against the bathroom door, and leaned my head back against the wood. Tears fell from my eyes and slid down my cheeks, but I didn't even bother wiping them away. "Y/N? Come on. Let me in."
"I don't want to talk to you right now," I murmur.
"Y/N I..." Adam trailed off for a few seconds. "I'm sorry, okay? I know that it was reckless of me to jump in front of that bullet but-"
"You could've been killed, Adam," I interject.
"But I wasn't," Adam countered. "And I'm not even hurt. The vest stopped the bullet. I'm okay."
"I get that, but what if you weren't?" I propose. "What if the vest didn't protect you? What if you had been seriously hurt? I can't live without you, Adam."
Adam sighed from where he was standing on the other side of the door. "You will never have to live without me. I'm never gonna leave you, Y/N. I love you so much."
My breath got caught in my throat at Adam's words. We had never said 'I love you' to each other before. I sniffled and stood up, using the back of my hand to wipe away the tears that had remained on my cheeks, and then I opened the door. Adam was standing a few feet away from the door, and he looked up when I exited the bathroom. I took a few steps forward and hugged him tightly, burying my face into his shoulder.
"I love you too," I breathe out.
Flashback End
My eyes opened slowly, and I cringed at the brightness of the room, closing my eyes again. After a few seconds, I opened my eyes again, blinking a few times to get used to the light. A small groan slipped past my lips as I tried to move to a more comfortable position, and that alerted Adam, who was sleeping in a chair next to my bed, that I was awake. He rubbed his eyes and sat up straighter, his hand automatically gravitating to mine.
"Hey," Adam muttered, his voice laced with sleepiness. "How are you feeling?"
"Well, I hurt everywhere," I reply. "But I think I'll be okay."
"You uh, you had me worried for a bit," Adam confessed and squeezed my hand softly.
"Don't worry. I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon," I admit. "But I do plan on taking every measure to make sure I don't get shot ever again. It hurts like hell."
Adam chuckled. "I will do everything in my power to keep you out of harm's way."
"You know what else you can do? Get me a cup of Jell-O from the cafeteria," I tell him.
"Deal," Adam said and stood up. "But I'm also gonna grab Dr. Rhodes on my way back so that he can check up on you."
"You're the best boyfriend ever," I exclaim. "I love you."
"I love you too," Adam responded and leaned down to peck my lips.

close to you. | part. Ⅱ
Tumblr media
a/n: i am beyond grateful that i’ve got requests for a part two when i initially didn’t plan for this to be a series. i also don’t know what you’re expecting from the previous ending. i can make it spicy if that’s what you want (if you wish for part three), but i’ve no experience in writing gn!reader smut (so it’ll be f!reader instead). so, yeah. drop me something. it’ll really help. if not, i’ll just end it here.
word count: 3.2k
genre: fluff
warnings: n/a
pairing: catboy!kuroo x gn!reader
← read part. Ⅰ
Tumblr media
“w-what do you mean?” you reply, refusing to look at him in the eyes as you speak.
“you know, give me a kiss like you always did.” he purrs. “i kind of miss it, to be honest.”
your mind walks you down to memory lane where you always cradled him and gently kiss him on his wet nose. it was one of your favorite things to do and you swore you would’ve given him so many kisses on the nose but he always ended up squirming around and ran away.
then you thought of kissing your cat in his human form and your cheeks start to warm when you realize how embarrassing it would be. you know he’s still your cat and all but it’s a bit different now, right?
“don’t be ridiculous, kuroo.” you sneer, crouching down and over his arm to step away from his silly enclosure like you’re a mouse that he managed to corner. he looks at you dejectedly, ears plopping down but perks back up the moment an idea pops in his head. from the look of his face, you can already tell that you hate it already.
“how about we play hide and seek?” he suggests, golden irises glinting with playfulness. you know he’s stubborn and you can’t do anything but give in.
you sigh, “and what’s the catch?”
“if i catch you, you’ll have to kiss me.” he claims proudly as he puffs out his chest, hands on his hips and you regret asking in the first place.
“what?!” your jaw almost drops. this game would only benefit him. you’ve played with him plenty of times before and you’re aware that he’s damn good at it. he’ll find you in a jiffy with the help of his strong sense of smell.
“but that’s not fair! you already know where–”
“ten, nine, eight...” kuroo completely ignores you as he closes his eyes to begin the countdown. although being completely forced into this game, your mind is already fumbling to figure out where would be the best spot to hide as you run away from the male.
certainly not the closet– it would be too obvious.
under the dining table? too easy.
under the bed? nah, that’s where he usually hides from you.
you don’t have much of a choice so in the end, you choose to hide behind the thick curtains in the corner of the living room. maybe if you hold your breath and sink in your stomach, you’d appear flatter and blend in with the curtains.
“one!” he chirps before you start to hear his footsteps become louder and fade into the distance. just as you thought, the bedroom is the first place he would look into since that’s where the closet is located. you can hear the door open and a startling ‘boo!’ from him that almost makes you giggle before he closes it back again.
it makes you anxious when you hear echoes of footsteps pacing back and forth as he walks to the bathroom then to the kitchen before they suddenly become quiet again and you think that he probably stops walking around the house. kuroo probably realizes that the sounds from his feet are making quite the noise in that form unlike when he was walking on his paws.
“gotcha.” you squeal in surprise as kuroo yanks the curtains away and pulls you into his hard chest. “i immediately knew when i passed the living room but it wouldn’t be fun if the game ended so soon.”
“oh, shut up. you knew you would win anyway.” you huff in frustration.
“you’ve picked the worst place to hide,” he smirks and leans down to whisper in your ear, “or was it on purpose?”
“you wish i was.” you roll your eyes, ignoring the shiver running down your spine when you feel his hot breath fanning your ear.
“of course you didn’t.” chuckling, he then looks at you dead in the eyes. “and my reward?”
“i didn’t agree to anything.” you internally curse at yourself when your heart makes a skip over how close his face is to yours, only separated by just a few inches.
“but you played, didn’t you? you could’ve said no.” he purrs, hazel eyes flicking down to your lips and back to your eyes.
“yeah– y-you didn’t give me a choice.” your breath comes out short as you realize he’s closing the space between you. “kuroo, stop.”
“don’t want to.” he cups your face gently to hold you still. you close your eyes as you nervously wait for his lips to crash onto yours and you can feel his bangs tickling against your face.
however, kuroo abruptly pulls away as a ‘pang’ sound reverberates throughout the room followed by an odd, stinging pain on his cheek.
“ow?!” he yelps, his hand reaches his cheek and his eyes are blown in bewilderment. it feels warm, but it’s not the kind that he likes. it doesn’t feel anything like your body heat when he curls up on top of you despite the fact that it does heat up because of you.
“sike!” you laugh triumphantly but the man only looks at you in dejection.
“you’ve never hit me before.” the corners of his lips tug into a frown and his tail curls around his waist for comfort.
you ponder for a moment, “true. but i find it easier to slap a man instead of a cat.”
“then you’ll kiss me if i turn back into a cat, right?” his ears perk up as a sign of piqued interest.
you roll your eyes, “not necessarily.” you stretch your arms as you walk away to your room. “well, i’m beat. goodnight, kuroo.”
“coming!” he catches up to you but the door slams into his face before he can enter your room.
“no!”
Tumblr media
kuroo ended up sleeping on the couch that night. he’s not entirely happy about it and you can see his attitude switches up the next morning. weekends mean you get the chance to laze around and steal the opportunity to wake up later than usual, and living with you for years means kuroo is also familiar with your schedule.
unfortunately, an unwanted noise disturbs your slumber.
and he is scratching the door.
“go away, kuroo!” you groan, rolling to your side with a pillow between your head as you cover your ears in hopes to block out the racket right outside your bedroom.
yet, kuroo is persistent, and you both are aware of that. whatever he wants, he will get.
well, almost.
jumping off the bed and stomping your way to open the door, you look down to see the roguish cat grinning up at you tauntingly.
“what?”
kuroo meows as a reply and strides to the kitchen, glancing over to you to see if you’re following him before he stops and sits straight next to his empty bowl. you reach for the fridge to take out the fish for him and put it in the sink to let it thaw.
kuroo jumps on the counter to scrutinize his food before looking up at you again, tail wagging in annoyance with wide brown irises surrounding his narrow pupils.
“that’s for misbehaving. i’m revoking our ‘truce’.” you sneer conceitedly with intent to show who actually holds the power around the house and him.
kuroo only growls lowly, his ears pushed back in irritation but you only laugh.
“that’s right. i can. i’m your master.” you say, before emitting a long, audible breath when you realize something. “but then again, i’m the one who has to work my ass off to feed you.”
kuroo only observes you in silence and curiosity– he thinks you look sad as you’re suddenly lost in your thoughts but you smile at him again and boop his little wet nose, making his heart flutter because it reminds him of the generous kisses you used to give him. if he knew it was going to turn out like this, he would’ve never struggled to escape when you cradled him into your arms.
“but it’s okay. it’s all because i love your annoying ass.” you mindlessly mumble, almost forgetting the fact that kuroo is able to comprehend your language very well, and embarrassment washes over you once your mind becomes fully aware of it. even when he doesn’t speak, his pupils dilate in astonishment and he is utterly pleased.
“i- uh, i mean– i have to give you credit where it’s due!” you say a little too loudly out of awkwardness, looking around anywhere except his gaze– you can already picture his stupid, smug grin in your head and you just wish for the ground to swallow you whole right now.
“anyways! i have to run to the grocery later after i feed you.” you quickly change the topic and run towards the bathroom to take a shower (or hide), leaving poor kuroo baffled on the counter.
this time, he thinks that maybe he doesn’t mind having tuna.
Tumblr media
kuroo lounges on the couch alone, watching the clock on the wall ticks by as he waits for you to come home. he’s getting anxious– you’ve been out for a while now and it doesn’t help the fact that he couldn’t read the time no matter how hard he stares at the numbers. but that one thin line seems to move fast and it already made multiple cycles. so that surely means something, right?
his ears perk up at the sound of your footsteps and jingling keys and his gaze quickly shifts to the main door but he decides to act cool, turning on the tv (he knows that one since he has seen you do it plenty of times) and pretends to watch whatever is playing.
“kuroo, look what i found!” you chirp happily as you open the door, but his sharp nose has already figured and it’s something he’d definitely won’t be too pleased about.
putting your grocery bag down on the floor, you skip into the living room and show him the calico cat you’ve found on your way back home. you hold the cat by his armpits, shoving the poor thing in front of his face.
his eye twitches at the sight and his tail fluffs up in annoyance, “hah?!”
you cradle him protectively against your chest and the cat meows almost too quietly as his bright golden eyes look up at you. “don’t shout, kuroo. you’re gonna scare him.”
“w-what– you can’t–” he gets up on his seat and glares at the calico that’s practically clinging back onto you.
“oh, yes i can.” you laugh. “no nails on the couch, kuroo.” you simply say before turning around to pick up your grocery bag to the kitchen. he’s fuming and he doesn’t even realize how hard his hands are clenching down on the couch. to make it worse, kuroo doesn’t miss the dirty look that the cat throws his way when you walk to the kitchen and boy, it makes him want to kick him out of the house immediately.
you quickly notice the intimidating vibe from the male as he observes you and your newfound friend, making you feel a little bad. “i’m just kidding, kuroo. i already asked if anyone wants to adopt it so i’m just gonna let him stay here for a while before my friend picks it up tomorrow.”
so you’re not entirely betraying him and he’s a bit relieved to hear it, but his territorial nature couldn’t stand the fact that he’s forced to go through one night with another feline in the house. kuroo could just leave the house for the night but then again, he’s the one that lives here so why should he? you may be oblivious, but kuroo can tell that there’s something malicious about him and it’s definitely not because he’s jealous.
“are you hungry, kenma?” you coo, ignoring the feeling of kuroo’s intense gaze burning holes from your back as he looks at you in disbelief after hearing the name you call him.
“k-kenma?! you already gave him a name?!” he yells and he’s so close to shredding the cushion underneath him.
“mmhmm, i think it’s cute and it fits him.” you giggle as you watch the calico devour his food like he hasn't gotten a meal for ages. “or maybe kyanma is cuter?”
“ew.” kuroo tears his eyes away, no longer able to stand the sight of you smothering– (he can’t even bring himself to say the name) kenma despite being in his presence. first, the stupid blonde guy and now this? you’re breaking his little heart.
Tumblr media
“don’t look at him like that.” though your eyes are glued to the screen, you can feel his piercing gaze from the other couch as you lie down with kenma sleeping and purring peacefully on your chest. it’s such an eyesore for kuroo and he just hopes you’re not going to sleep in bed with him tonight.
kenma’s eyes flutter open to glance over the older feline and his lips twitch into a victorious smirk before snuggling back on your chest to sleep again, causing kuroo’s jaw to clench in vexation.
but what gets on his nerves even more is when he suddenly hears the sound your lips make as you kiss kenma on the nose.
his ears are blowing steam right now and in his head he’s already throwing stupid kenma away to sit on top of you and yell at him to stay away from what’s his and that he’s unwelcomed here. he wants to do it, but he knows that you wouldn’t like that and he fears that he’ll be the one to get kicked out from the house instead of his competitor.
alternatively, he tries to get your attention.
“i’m hungry.” he whines as he looks at you with his innocent and pleading eyes in an attempt for you to melt into them.
“but i’m going to wake him up if i leave.” you answer, genuinely feeling bad if you start to move away from your seat.
“he’s not sleeping.” he quickly replies and kenma’s ears perk up when he’s aware that he’s on the topic.
“but–”
“trust me, i know.”
“hmm, fine.” you gently caress the cat and kenma mewls when you put him down on the couch to leave for the kitchen. kuroo watches you from his seat and turns to kenma once he’s confident that you’re distracted from preparing his food for him.
“listen here, you little shit.” he growls intimidatingly before bopping his head up to peep at you to see your back facing him, “i know what you’re up to and don’t you dare think that you’re running this place because you’ll be gone first thing in the morning.”
“kuroo?” you call from the kitchen and he immediately stands up and pretends that nothing has happened as he skips happily to his plate.
“feed me, pleaaase.” he shamelessly requests, but you only look at him weirdly and repulsed.
“but you already know–”
“pleaaaase?” his lips feign a pout but you roll your eyes.
“don’t be ridiculous, kuroo.” you wave your hand to disregard his plea and walk back into the living room and take kenma to sit on your lap before his head rubs on your hand to ask you to pet him.
kuroo only sighs and takes a mouthful of his meal into his mouth.
Tumblr media
morning has finally arrived, though later than kuroo expected. he couldn’t sleep a wink knowing that you were having kenma together with you on your bed while he had to settle for the couch again. he said it was either you bring him with you or leave kenma with him in the living room. but you couldn’t possibly leave the two together in the same room, even if you were there and asleep. kuroo was literally on his knees and begged to come inside the room with you, yet your answer was resolute.
but it’s fine, you can say goodbye to kenma now and you’re going to be stuck with him until the end of his life.
your friend comes with a cat carrier in hand and they just fall in love with the calico as soon as they lay their eyes on him. you’re a bit sad since you’ve grown attached to the little guy over the short time, but your friend assures you that you can stop by their place anytime if you wish to see kenma. they think that maybe you can bring kuroo along so they can play together, but you just laugh at the idea– knowing kuroo doesn’t like him and you only kept kenma close to make sure he wouldn’t be too distressed. and well, they’re not dogs either.
as soon as you close the door for your friend, kuroo wraps his big arms around you and sighs in relief.
“that was mean of you.” he whines softly.
“you’re being dramatic.” but kuroo holds you tighter and your cheeks start to get warm.
“no. you keep on picking up nasty scents from others. first, your ugly friend and then… then...” he nibbles his lip, as if uttering the name would cause him to vomit.
“atsumu and kenma?” you giggle, causing kuroo to grunt when he hears the names.
“but now that i have you like this, you can’t run away nor slap me again.” he purrs, leaning his chin to rest on your shoulder.
“i don’t get it.” you reply coyly, as if him rubbing his cheek against yours isn’t clear enough to tell you what he wants to do.
“look at me.” he orders, and you nervously turn your head to him. although there’s a shit eating grin plastered across his face, it only makes him look even more gorgeous especially when he is only a couple of inches away.
there’s a sparkle of mischief in his umber eyes as he stares into you, “close your eyes.”
and you do. his hot breath prickles your skin when he closes in the gap and he finally plants a soft kiss on the tip of your nose.
your eyes flutter open once he pulls away. “is that it? is that the kiss?”
“mmhmm.” he nods his head a bit too proudly and lets you go.
you burst out laughing when you’re reminded of a pure, curious child that knows absolutely nothing of the world.
“then, you missed.” you chaff, turning to face the clueless male.
“w-what?” kuroo blinks in confusion and his ears and tail plop down dispiritedly. he’s pretty sure that he did it right. besides, that’s how you’ve always kissed him when he was a–
oh.
you take a step closer to him and get on your tiptoes before cupping his face to pull it closer to yours. it must be the waves of endorphins rushing in your veins or the look of his handsome yet dejected face after thinking that he has accomplished something great– but you found the urge to kiss him properly on the lips, leaving kuroo stunned and wide eyed as he relishes on the new feeling of your soft lips pressing against his before you pull away all too quickly.
“that’s how you kiss someone.”
well, maybe you shouldn’t have taught him that because now, he’ll just might want more.

Let Me Be Myself Chapter 3: Memory Lane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: this was written for @daydreamingatnight209 for Pom’s server swap.
Summary: Spencer and Reader take a trip down memory lane courtesy of their inquisitive kids.
“Hey, Mom, how did you and Dad fall in love?” My daughter asks Y/N. I snort, remembering that it started with a dare. Y/N snorted herself. “Aunt Emily said it was ridiculous.”
I glanced at Y/N, wondering what she was going to say. This was the first time any of our quints had shown any interest in how they came to be. “It started with a dare.” Y/N finally says. “Mine, to be accurate.”
“Yours?” Our daughter echoes in disbelief which makes her siblings start listening in as well. I'm surprised Emily actually said anything on the matter.
“Yes, mine.” Y/N said with a chortle as I remember.
----- Memory Start -----
“Come on, Einstein, it's just a prediction! Most often, they don't come true.” Y/N tried to convince me as I doctored my coffee. I snorted.
“You expect me to walk into there for something I know won't come true?" I hissed. My dearest wish has never happened. I wished last year on my birthday that Y/N would finally see that her current boyfriend was an asshole. “Wow, that's actually a new low for you.” I took a measured sip of my coffee. “Why won't you take Reginald?”
She sighed. “I tried, Spencer. Every time he makes up an excuse as to why we can't go.” I rolled my eyes as I made up my mind to go with her. Reginald's continued excuses are the reason I’m going with her. I’m also her best friend...though I wish I weren't friend-zoned.
“I’ll go but Reginald’s still an asshole.” I said as I added a bit more sugar to my coffee. What can I say, I like it sweet.
“Thank you, Spence!” she exclaimed and kissed me on the cheek. I blushed and thankfully, she didn't notice that my face had gone as red as my cardigan sweater. “I don't know what I would do without you.”
“Let’s hope you never find out.” I muttered before taking another sip. “Is Reginald working late tonight?” Y/N nodded miserably. He was probably cheating on her, the bastard. I’d seen him making out with his current receptionist the other night. “Come over to my place. Let's finish the Tenth Doctor tonight.”
“As much as I would love to, you and I both know he hates our Doctor Who nights.” she replied. I hated knowing that I’d be a healthier choice for her to have a relationship with than Reginald.
“Actually, who names their child Reginald? Even Elton John had the sense to change his name!” I exclaimed as we went out into the bullpen.
"Not everyone is Elton John, Spence." Y/N wearily replies as she sits down at her desk across from mine.
----- Memory End -----
“You had to coerce Dad into going?” Our first daughter asked, bringing me back into the present. Our other kids were laughing uproariously at Y/N’s recount of convincing me. “I thought coercion was wrong.”
“Honey, your mother didn't coerce me. There's actually a difference between coercion and persuading, which you’ll find out the definition of in a few years.” I said, smiling at the memory. “Besides, I got what I wanted in the end.”
"And what was that, Dad?" One of our two boys asked.
"I wanted your mother and by extension, you." I simply said as I squeezed Y/N's hand lightly to let her know I loved her. She gave me a smile and leaned her head into the crook of my neck.
----- Memory Start -----
We walked into the fortune teller’s tent. I was still highly skeptical about it. I still believe that most fortune tellers prey on human emotions, it’s a profiling turned carnival trick and that it’s not adequately rooted in science. She took one look at us, rose to her feet and bluntly asked, “When’s the wedding? You two make a lovely couple.”
Awkwardly I answered, “We’re...not together.”
She smirks at me and says, “Yet. Fate wants you two together.” I blinked in surprise at her declaration that we were supposed to be together.
After telling her that we weren't interested in a full session, we walked out of the tent. Suddenly, “Oh shit, tonight’s date night!” came out of y/n’s mouth. I raise my eyebrows at her. Twice a month, our team held Date Night, which gave established couples a chance to relax and have fun. I always volunteered to babysit Henry and Michael on those nights because I didn't want to see Y/N with Reginald.
The fortune teller came out and said, "Mr. Reid, a quick word before you and your friend leave." I nodded and went back into the tent, while Y/N went shopping since our task was completed. “You need to go to date night tonight. I'm sensing that this is the chance that you've been waiting for all year.” I blinked in surprise again.
“It’s Doctor and how did...” She pointed to my FBI ID Badge. I had forgotten to take it off when we left work.
----- Memory End -----
“But how did you two get together?” our three daughters ask in unison. I laughed. Whenever the kids were inquisitive, they were my kids. “And how did you know this would be your chance to sweep mom off her feet?”
“A gentleman doesn't kiss and tell.” I stated.
“In Dad speak that means you think we're not old enough.” Said our second son. I could see the disappointment on my children's faces. I wasn't going to share everything about what the fortune teller had said to me that day.
“No, it means I haven't told your mother how I knew.” I calmly replied. “And there are some things I would rather keep to myself.”
----- Memory Start -----
I had totally spaced on Date night. I found a sexy number that I had gotten for my birthday and hadn't worn (as Reginald hated it) in the back of my closet. It was a rose-gold colored knee-length bodycon dress that showed a healthy, tasteful amount of my cleavage (which wasn't much, thankfully).
“You are not wearing that tonight.” Reginald said as he walked by my room. I frowned, bristling at the imperious demand.
“I will wear whatever I want.” I replied, deciding on the dress in that instant.
“You look like a skank in that dress.” He said and then left to make his own preparations. I ignored him and put on the dress. The moment he saw me in it, he refused to speak to me. When we got to the bar that the team was at, JJ raised an eyebrow.
“And here I thought Reginald wouldn't let you wear that.” JJ remarked.
“It looks good on you!” Penelope gushed. “Spencer chose well.” I looked at her, shocked. “Wait, you didn’t know Spencer got it for your birthday? He saw it and knew it had to be yours.” I shook my head.
“That's why he refused to put a gift tag on it.” JJ explained. “He knew Reginald would never let you wear it as we all did. How...” I grinned, emboldened by the knowledge that Spencer had gifted me this dress.
“I told him I would wear whatever I wanted.” JJ and Garcia both beamed.
“Good.” both women remarked as they took sips of their drinks. I was drinking a piña colada and despite Reginald being an ass while ignoring me, I was having fun.
He seemed to be getting into an argument with Prentiss and Rossi when I looked for him. I frowned since that likely meant he was drunk. He'd pick a fight with Bigfoot, if Bigfoot existed, while he was drunk. “Where’s Spence?” I asked. After he had finished speaking to the fortune teller alone, I tried to get him to tell me what she’d said and my best friend immediately clammed up.
“He’s here somewhere.” JJ remarked as Reginald came up to us. This surprised me as Spencer preferred sitting for his godsons rather than come to Date Night.
“We’re leaving.” He growled. “Doctor Noodle Boy is here.” Again I bristled, this time for the nickname he gave Spence.
“No, we just got here. If you want to go, go. JJ and Penelope...” I started with tears threatening to fall. Why had I not heeded Spencer's warnings about Reginald?
“I said we're going.” he restated, raising his voice.
“Let me go to the bathroom first.” I said. He nodded and I ran to the bathroom, intending to cry my eyes out but before I got there, I was pulled into a warm, minty embrace. It was Spencer.
“Spence...” I cried into his shirt. He lifts my chin and tenderly wipes away my tears.
“F*** him.” Spencer said. “Leave him and be with me. I don't know when I'll have another chance to convince you.” Spencer murmured before kissing me on the forehead.
On a preserving whim, I decided to leave Reginald. I pulled Spencer's head down, stood on my tiptoes and kissed him just as Reginald stomped towards us. “You wore that for him, didn't you?” Reginald snapped. I gathered my courage which was boosted by Spencer standing behind me.
“We’re over, Reginald.” I said.
“We’re over when I say we're over.” he growled, forcefully grabbing my arm. “We’re going, NOW!” However, Spencer looked at him.
“I’ve been very tolerant of you up until now for Y/N’s sake. Get your hands off her before I break your fingers.” Spencer said coolly.
“Make me, *Pretty Boy*.” Reginald challenged.
“Don’t touch what's no longer yours.” Spencer hissed and broke Reginald’s wrist, ignoring his howl of pain as he escorted me away. I looked back to see cops escorting Reginald outside. When we got back to the dance floor, ironically, ‘You Shouldn't Kiss Me’ was playing. “I knew that dress would look gorgeous on you.” he whispered as he led me onto the dance floor.
We danced to song after song like we were the only two in the room. “I hate to interrupt,” Rossi said coming up to us some hours later. “But the bar’s closing.” Spencer gave me a final twirl.
“Now, how about that Doctor Who marathon?” he murmured. I beamed at him in response and nodded my head. He intertwined his fingers with mine and we walked to his car.
“Thank you.” I murmured, holding onto his hand tightly.
“For what?” Spencer asked.
“For everything. You were right. He was an asshole.” I said, twining my arms around his neck.
----- Memory Start -----
Our kids were laughing uproariously at Reginald’s wrist being broken and my admitting that Daddy was right. “It wasn't that funny.” I mumbled.
“Y/N, you rarely admit you are wrong so yes, it is funny.” Spencer said as I rolled my eyes. I was waiting for the kids’s bedtime to break some welcome news to my husband. I was pregnant again.
“What happened next?” Our kids eagerly asked in unison.  Spencer’s lips quirked into a small smile.
“Your mother broke her foot while we were on a case.” he said with a chuckle. “Not to mention the fortune cookies with dinner that same night.”
----- Memory Start -----
I fell down, my gun falling from my hands as I heard a loud crack. I tried getting up but couldn't. Prentiss directed Spencer to carry me before cautiously going into the house.  I groaned as Spencer lifted me up, held, and carried me bridal style. “How is it that now we're finally a couple, odd things keep happening?”
“The fortune teller said Fate wanted us together.” Spencer replied as he carried me to an SUV. I groaned at his answer.
“How can you be so...blasé about all of this?!” I exclaimed as he drove to the emergency room. What happened to our man of science?!
“I knew from the moment I met you that you were the woman I’d love for the rest of my life.” My eyes widened. I hadn't expected that answer out of him. “You know, I want kids.” He said as he drove.
“Where did that come from?” I asked. Spencer said nothing. “So do I.” I admit as I keep my eyes on the road to distract me from my pain.
--
Thanks to my foot being broken, I had to hobble on crutches which meant I couldn't fly. It had something to do with what Spence had done before I was hired, apparently. Prentiss arranged for me to have a ride home with JJ as I lived in the same general area. “Could you drop me off at Spencer's?” I asked, seeing Reginald on my doorstep. JJ nodded and turned around. I slowly made my way up to his apartment after she dropped me off and knocked on the door.
When he answered, he said, “What's wrong?” as he let me in.
“Reginald is waiting for me on my doorstep.” I replied. Spencer made a disgusted noise before kissing my forehead.
“When is that guy going to learn?” He mumbled. Then he brightened. “I was just about to order Chinese, want some?” I nodded in agreement. While we waited for our food, Spencer asked, “Doctor Who or Star Trek?”
“Star Trek.” I said as I realized I didn't have any clothes. Fortunately, Spence was one step ahead and had earlier bought me a change of clothes besides pj’s from the store. He also handed me a hoodie sweater.
“This is yours now, Y/N.” I unfolded the sweater to see that it was his Caltech hoodie. “I figured that bastard wouldn't give up.” he said as we settled down to watch Star Trek Voyager. We only had to pause it once in order to get the food and we ate in companionable silence.
When I took our dishes in, I saw a hastily written note taped on top of a couple fortune cookies. It said, ‘Doctor, these are for you and the Mrs.’
Mine read, ‘A good marriage requires falling in love many times — all with the same person.’ I agreed with the sentiment. Spencer’s read, ‘If I know what love is, it is because of you.’
“That is so true.” he murmured.
----- Memory End -----
“It’s still true.” Spencer replied as he looked at our kids who were making faces at us for kissing.
“Don’t I know it.” I replied.  “Not a day goes by without me thanking the Lord that you were there when Reginald tried to force me to go home.”
“Me too.” Spencer said, kissing me on the forehead, like he had been ever since that first night.
“Moom!” Our daughters said, embarrassed. Our sons groaned.
“Our love only grew stronger, Y/N.” my husband reminded me. I smile at the five kids, soon to be six. I couldn't keep quiet any longer.
“Come December, there's going to be a new Reid.” I announced. Spencer’s eyes widened at my news. The kids looked delighted.
“That’s wonderful!” Spencer exclaimed, hugging me. Then in my ear, he whispered, “Remember that time we had to share the same bed on a case?” I chortled.
“How could I forget?” I replied.
----- Memory Start -----
“I'm sharing a room with who, Prentiss?!” I exclaimed in shock. Prentiss had just informed me that I'd be sharing a room with my new boyfriend.
“There aren't enough rooms, so you're rooming with Reid.” Prentiss repeated, “I didn’t expect any protest considering he is your boyfriend.” She shrugged and I followed Spencer to our room. But I received another shock when we entered the room. There was only one bed. Thankfully, there was a couch.
“I’ll take the couch.” I said, not noticing that Spencer was behind me.
“We can share the bed.” he murmured. When I started to protest, he added, “We’re only sharing a bed, it isn’t the end of the world.”
“I thought to save it for my husband.” I absentmindedly said.
“Oh, so you think I won't be your husband? Don't worry, I’ll behave. I'm only joking.” he promised.
“I know you will. I trust you with my life so I can trust you with my virtue. Okay, we can share the bed.” I agreed. He put his arms around me. I leaned into his embrace.
----- Memory End -----
“You were the one that didn't behave.” he reminded me quietly. I grinned, remembering the rest of that night. That had been the night that the quintuplets were conceived.
“You could have said no.” I replied. I felt his chest rumble with laughter.
“I should have made you promise to behave too.” He mumbled. I laughed as he kissed my neck.
“Mom, what happened next?” Our three daughters asked.
“I nearly lost your father.” I said.
----- Memory Start -----
Tears fell down my face. I was pregnant with Spencer's child after two months of marriage and he was in the hospital in Texas with another neck injury, this recent injury courtesy of Reginald. “Hey, you okay?” JJ asked.
“What if he doesn't pull through? I can't do this without him.” I sobbed.
“Do what?” JJ asked again.
“I’m pregnant, JJ.” I said, still sobbing. “I can't raise this kid without him. Diana won't be much help...”
“Y/N, the doctor wants to talk to you.” Emily called out before JJ could say a word of reassurance to me.
Reginald’s bullet narrowly missed Spencer's carotid artery and hit Spencer a few inches below it. I didn't need to worry about him, since he went to prison for assaulting a federal agent. I was told I could visit but was warned to not excite him as he needed to rest. Angry, I went to visit Reginald.
“To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?” Reginald asked smugly.
“Your stunt. You could have killed him, Reginald. If he dies, you better believe I will be pushing for you to go to Death Row.” His eyes widened.
“I only wanted you back,” he explained.
“How does killing the man I lo-” I pause, considering my words carefully. “How does killing the man I love get me back?” I demand. “Let me tell you something, Reginald, if you ever loved me, you will let me go. Never contact me again.” I left after that. I went home, cried, ate ice cream, cried and went to sleep.
Three weeks later, I was beginning to show when Spence woke up. The funny thing was JJ had to drag me to the hospital because I did not want to see him unconscious again.
I entered his room to see him sitting up, animatedly chatting with Luke. Luke smiled and got up. “I’ll just um...” he left.
“Spence...” I breathed in relief and kissed him. “If you ever...”
“I know, I know. You’ll kill me.” he murmured softly. His fingertips brushed the curve of my growing belly. “Are you...” he asked excitedly.
“As of yesterday, ten weeks pregnant.” I answered, just as excited as he was.
“Um, love, you don't look ten weeks pregnant.” Spencer said. “You look thirteen, maybe fourteen weeks pregnant...”
“Shut up.” I muttered.
----- Memory End -----
Our kids were howling with laughter at my telling daddy to shut up.  I laughed too because it had been funny.
“I was right after all though.” Spencer said as he held me in bed after we’d gotten the kids to bed. “Five children...”
“I’d never been more terrified in my life than I was at the moment we found out I was pregnant with quintuplets.” I muttered. Well, that was a lie. I had been so petrified at the idea of raising Spencer's child on my own if he died. There was no way I could have raised all five on my own.
----- Memory Start -----
“Ready to see our baby, Einstein?” I asked Spencer the day of my second ultrasound. Spencer smiled at me and nodded as he tenderly tucked a lock of my hair back into place behind my ear. I noticed Spencer’s enlarged eyes and shocked expression first before hearing the doctor’s words.
“That would be babies, Mrs. Reid.” the doctor dryly stated as he looked at the ultrasound screen . Both Spencer and I stared at the screen in shock.
“Babies?!” I repeated dumbly, seeing a pair of fetuses on the screen.
“I was only joking! Do twins even run in your family?” Spencer exclaimed and then asked. In fact, yes, multiples did tend to appear on both sides of my family.
“They do, Spence.” I said softly. “At least they’ll have each other growing up.”
“Looks like quintuplets.” the doctor informed us. Both Spencer and I paled. That meant a high risk pregnancy.
----- Memory End -----
Pulled out of my reminiscing by Spencer's lips on the top of my head, I took a look at the ultrasound photo. “Seven, Einstein. There's possibly twins in here.” I said as I pressed his palm to my still flat stomach.
“I’m glad I accepted your dare, Y/N. Happily married to the woman I love and adore more than my own life with seven kids to boot.” We were both wrong. Later, we would find out, much to JJ’s and Garcia's amused delight, I was pregnant with triplets so we had eight energetic, bright, and happy children.
“Now will you tell me what the fortune teller told you?!” I asked in exasperation. Spencer smiled. “And don't give me that ‘A gentleman never kisses and tells’ shit you gave the kids earlier.”
“She told me that I needed to attend Date Night the night that we got together.” Spencer said, shocking me as he drew patterns on my tummy with the pad of his finger. “Why, do you regr...”
I put a finger to his lips and remarked, “If you love me, Spence... don't ever finish that sentence.”
“Your wish is my command.” Spencer said, kissing me tenderly as one of our babies kicked.

Mistletoe
Pairing: Jamie Benn x Reader
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: swearing, fluff, a little bit of sad Jamie, a lot of teasing Tyler
Summary: Tyler is tired of his two best friends dancing around their feelings for each other and takes matters into his own hands by deliberately placing mistletoe above them.
A/N: This is day 11 of starduststarkey’s 12 days of Christmas fics. Check my masterlist for more!
Tumblr media
“Dude, what are you doing?” Jamie asked, watching as Tyler attempted to hang a bundle of mistletoe above the front door. “Are you serious? Take that down.”
“It’ll be funny,” Tyler laughed.
“No it won’t. You’re tricking everyone who probably doesn’t want to be together into being together with that thing. And what happens when you get two people under it who aren’t a couple? Don’t you think they’re going to be pissed at you?”
Tyler rolled his eyes. “Lighten up, Benn.”
Jamie narrowed his eyes at Tyler. Lighten up. Yeah. How was he supposed to lighten up after being dumped two weeks before Christmas? He had already gotten her several gifts, already told his parents she would be joining him this year and was so excited to bring her home. He had the whole thing planned out. And then 6 days ago he came home and all of her things were gone and he was left with a note that said she couldn’t do this anymore, that they were moving too fast and things were getting too serious. But he should definitely lighten up.
“Sorry. Forgot,” Tyler mumbled, remembering the entire reason Jamie was here helping him decorate in the first place. Tyler took the mistletoe down from above the front door, stashing it back in the box of decorations.
Jamie knew he should apologize too. He didn’t need to go off on Tyler like that. Tyler was just trying to make the night fun.
Jamie gave a half hearted apology that Tyler brushed off and when he grabbed another piece of decoration he picked up the mistletoe with it, deciding to leave it in the main room for people to use for their own enjoyment.
You rang Tyler’s door once and then again, something you’d always done when you’d stopped by, a little trick to let him know it was you. The party wouldn’t start for another hour and a half but you made sure to bring enough food for double the entire Stars roster and then some.
“You’re a lifesaver,” Tyler said upon opening the door.
He nearly gasped seeing the container of cookies you had brought. “You even made cookies!”
“Of course.”
Tyler grabbed a few of the bags, closing the door behind you.
“Jamie’s here too, by the way.” Tyler said, wiggling his eyebrows at you.
“He is?” Your heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name and you tried not to sound so happy. “How’s he been since… you know.”
“Mopey. But I’m sure he’ll be happier when he sees you.”
You rolled your eyes, but couldn’t deny the butterflies in your stomach when Jamie came to the kitchen and lifted you into a crushing hug.
Jamie couldn’t stop staring at you as you set up the kitchen. He was still helping Tyler with the living room area and the gaming area but kept turning around and smiling as you moved effortlessly around.
“Dude,” Tyler said, punching his arm.
Jamie’s cheeks turned red. Tyler was like a big brother to you. When he moved to Dallas you had moved in with him, going to school, working part time, and watching the dogs when he was gone. With the amount of time Jamie spent with Tyler, it wasn’t a surprise the two of you had grown close as well.
“Tell her,” Tyler whispered.
Jamie shook his head. “I don’t think she sees me like that.”
Tyler raised one eyebrow at him. “Uh… yeah. She does.”
“Really?”
Tyler looked in your direction, catching you staring this time. You turned away quickly, pretending you weren’t just caught.
“Yeah,” Tyler laughed. “So you should tell her tonight.”
“I… I’ll think about it,” Jamie said
You barely noticed the party dying down; people slowly trickling out. All the while you were on the loveseat with Jamie, both deep in conversation about holiday plans, that had slowly drifted down memory lane.
“Nothing will ever beat playing Winter Classics on new years day though,” Jamie said.
“That game was amazing,” you replied. “I still don’t know how I’m going to repay you for getting me tickets.”
“You’re not,” Jamie laughed. “Well unless…” he began but trailed off.
“Unless what?” You asked. Seriously if there was any way for you to repay Jamie for those tickets, you would.
“Nothing. Never mind,” Jamie said, shaking his head.
“Jame!” You swatted at his arm and begged,“tell me!”
“Okay… those cookies you made tonight. If you make me some, that’ll be payment.”
You didn’t believe that was the original thing he was thinking of. But you weren’t going to press it. “When do you leave for home?” You asked.
“Tuesday,” he said.
“I’ll bring some by on Monday. Then you can take them with you.”
“Really?” Jamie gasped, wrapping you in a hug. “You’re the best ever!”
Mid hug you heard someone clearing their throat. You jumped away from Jamie, turning your head, and finding Tyler behind the couch.
Tyler’s eyes averted to above you and Jamie. Attached to the end of a fishing pole was a bundle of mistletoe.
Although you couldn’t see it you knew your face was bright red. You could feel the warmth radiate from your cheeks, to the tips of your ears and down your neck.
“Tyler,” you started.
“What?” he laughed.
“I told you to put that thing away,” Jamie said.
“Yeah, funny story. I clearly remember putting it away, but then I found it on my coffee table. So obviously someone didn’t want it put away, or else they wouldn’t have gotten it back out of the decoration box and left it on the coffee table.”
It was Jamie’s turn to blush.
Tyler sighed. “Look, I’m so tired of the both of you playing this just friends game. You both like each other. And don’t deny it because I know. I’ve heard the way y’all talk about each other.”
You looked toward Jamie. Although you had your suspicions before, they went away once he got together with his now ex. Your crush on him never went away though. You felt destined to always be just friends, that your feelings would never be reciprocated.
Jamie had his bottom lip between his teeth. Your heart sunk as you started thinking that maybe your suspicions were right. Maybe he didn’t actually like you and what he had told Tyler was a crush that he had gotten over.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked suddenly, putting a halt to your wandering thoughts.
You nodded. The next second his hand was cupping your cheek and his lips were on yours. You had completely forgotten about the party and where you were, and about Tyler behind you two until he started whistling.
It was a quick kiss, but nothing short of amazing. You’re sure it would’ve lasted longer if Tyler wasn’t being obnoxious in the background.
“I took some pictures for ya,” Tyler beamed. “So you’ll always remember your first kiss.”
You rolled your eyes, although you were incredibly happy. You couldn’t wait to see them.
Tyler grabbed the fishing pole he had rigged up, finally moving the mistletoe out from above your heads. You glanced around the room, noticing that it was just you and Jamie left. You wondered what time it was, and how lost in conversation you and Jamie had been.
Jamie didn’t say anything, simply rose from the couch and held his hand out to you to help you up too. Panic coursed through you again. Maybe this was just a one time thing. Maybe he only did it to get Tyler off his back.
“Do you need a ride home?” Jamie asked.
You shook your head.
“Well… can I walk you to your car then?”
You nodded that time, heading to Tyler’s coat closet to collect your stuff.
“Bye Ty!” you called, finding him in the kitchen.
“What? You’re not gonna help me clean up?” He whined.
“Nope,” you laughed. You gave him a hug as he stepped closer to you. “Have a good Christmas.”
“You too.”
“Good?” Jamie asked when you had walked out again.
“Wait. You’re not staying either?”
Jamie laughed at Tyler’s disappointment. “I’ll be back. Just gonna walk Y/N to her car,” he said.
Tyler shot him a wink, making him blush once again.
--
“I’ll bring you those cookies on Monday,” you said once you had reached your car. “Want or need anything else?”
“Actually, yeah.” Jamie kicked at a rock that was next to his feet, averting his eyes to the ground before back up at you. You gave him a questioning look, waiting for him to continue. “Come early. Have coffee and breakfast with me.”
“Like as a date?” You asked.
Jamie nodded. “Yeah. Like as a date.”
“Will there be mistletoe?” You teased.
“Do I need mistletoe to kiss you?” Jamie asked. You shook your head. “Good,” he said. “Because I wanted to do this, without Tyler being a paparazzi.”
Jamie placed both hands on your waist this time, bending down as you stood on your toes. The second kiss was even better than the first and knowing Tyler wasn’t there to interrupt or take pictures or tease made it better.
It could’ve been thirty seconds or it could’ve been five minutes you weren’t sure but you were definitely breathless by the time you both pulled away.
“I’ll see you on Monday,” Jamie whispered, pecking your lips again.
“Monday,” you said between another kiss.
“Drive safe.” Another kiss.
“Okay.” Kiss.
Clearly you both were making up for lost time. You laughed between kisses, tried to say your goodbyes, all the while neither of you made an effort to actually leave.
“Okay. Tyler. Needs. You,” you said, punctuating each word with another kiss.
“I. Need. You.”
You placed your hand on his chest after another long kiss, keeping the both of you separated.
“Monday. We can continue this on Monday.”
Jamie nodded, taking a step back from you despite not wanting to.
“Monday.”
You couldn’t wipe the smile off your face as you climbed into your car. Jamie waited in the driveway, watching as you pulled off the lot.
As you watched his disappear in your rear view mirror you had two thoughts:
1- You were so thankful for Tyler.
2- You couldn’t wait for Monday.

HELLO apparently July 28th is the release date for Down to Earth therefore in honor of its 42nd birthday I wanna do a ranking of all the songs based on my personal preference of course.
(I’m only doing songs from the original studio release sorry no Bad Girl or Weiss Heim but they’re both sexy ;))
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwCsMQWkN3g
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7YOM4gx3RE (spark don’t mean a fire aka the alternate version don’t worry it’s beautiful)
8. No Time To Lose:  Starting off this list we’ve got the second song off this record and it isn’t bad in anyway.  In fact, it’s very upbeat and energetic, especially with Graham’s absolutely stunning vocals.  However, compared to the rest of the list I feel it falls just a bit short.  The lyrics themselves are actually pretty dark looking at them with examples such as, “It ain’t no lie, you’re hurting and you don’t know why.”  Don’t know what Roger or Ritchie were going through but damn, anyway, musically the song is also very strong.  The guitar riff is addicting but I feel it’s the combination of, again, Graham’s vocals and Cozy’s monstrous drumming that gives this song so much energy.  Not bad at all from a song that’s at the bottom of a list.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P17ct4e5OE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v0bDfZytwk (Russ Ballard version, it’s really good)
7. Since You’ve Been Gone: Listen, I know many may judge this choice but I didn’t put this song at the bottom because of one, the sentimental value it has, and two, it’s not a bad song at all.  Okay, it’s not the best as well but Russ Ballard made a beautiful song about heartbreak that is only made greater by this glorious lineup.  I’ve actually listened to Ballard’s originally version and while it isn’t bad, I feel that Graham really helped cement this song and really put Rainbow on the charts.  I especially enjoy the interlude section that drops into a sweet ballad type tone before dropping back into the chorus.  Graham’s versatile vocals are well-equipped to amplify this song to a new level and not only that but without this song I probably would have never started listening to Rainbow.  Although very commercialized and maybe too light to many, this song holds a special place in my heart and I do love it dearly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2XDORONuuY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmQBKq0d_-I (Cozy Powell mix, yes it’s exactly what you’d think it would sound like if the drummer was the producer)
6. All Night Long: The second real commercialized song on this album and honestly the last.  However, where it differs from the other is that this song still has big traces of that hard rock attitude that Rainbow had emerged into.  That simple yet beautiful riff that gets stuck in your head, Cozy’s powerful drumming, Graham’s powerhouse vocals, I mean what else do you really want from a song.  Just from that opening riff you feel that rush of just pure hard rock energy shiver through your body.  It really is just a fun hard rock song that, although may not be anything too complex, isn’t bad at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeVFTeXs1o8
5. Danger Zone: Danger Zone always stood out to me as a very interesting and different song.  Don is absolutely phenomenal in this song, especially his keyboard solo which Ritchie follows up upon to make a beautiful instrumental section.  I’d be remiss to not mention Graham who hits at some of his highest parts here.  This song really showed off the prowess of his full vocal abilities, hitting high notes with all the strength you’d expect from a hard rock singer.  The actual lyrics of the song are quite beautiful as well I believe.  Parts such as, “Don’t understand when you’re looking for a dame but it’s only a heartbreak away.  And you’ll learn, faking has no return.”  Really suspecting some mental instability from either Roger or Ritchie at this point...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8FcrH1lDeY
4. Eyes of the World:  Many may be surprised why this song isn’t higher up the list but trust me, I have good reasons.  Eyes of the World is definitely a highlight piece in this album and really is a final goodbye to the Dio era of Rainbow.  The subject manner is very of that era and really feels like it could have been sung by Ronnie.  I think to many this song helped alleviate the fears that Rainbow had gone fully vapid with it’s material (though we’ll see how that sentiment drags on throughout the next few years)  Don Airey truly deserves the limelight here for that incredible keyboard intro that just sucks you into that dark world of evil.  He really makes this song something truly special.  Cozy Powell is phenomenal throughout all these tracks but especially in this track where he’s at his home environment and just listen to the interludes between the chorus and verse, just incredible.  Then to our man of the hour, Graham Bonnet, he just absolutely kills it here.  He puts so much passion and emotion into the vocals that I find it strange how anyone could possibly still doubt him as a suitable vocalist for the band.  Ritchie’s solo here as well is probably one of my favorites off of this album just really makes this song something truly special.  I often like to compare this piece to the Gates of Babylon or Tarot Woman to Down to Earth with an incredible keyboard intro and other-wordly themes of evil and darkness that make it a classic Rainbow tune.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU__fm6QFvk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzQZoOvzzNo (Ain’t A Lot of Love In the Heart of Me, it’s brilliant and honestly parts are somewhat better than the final version lol)
3. Love’s No Friend:  I remember reading an article that talked about this song being Rainbow’s Mistreated.  That description always had stayed with me and while I partially agree with the statement, I also think this song is very different from the former.  Yes, both deal with heartbreak and emanates a grandiose sense of grievance from that sentiment however it differs in how that sentiment is delivered.  Mistreated, as stated by Blackmore, is really just a guitar song.  The relies both on David’s great bluesy voice that can conceive that anguish in his voice like no other vocalist can (love ya Dave) and Blackmore’s just heart-wrenching solo at the end which is probably one of the most emotional guitar solos I’ve ever heard.  With Love’s No Friend I find that it’s more of a complete package having all elements of the band contribute to the piece.  Not that but the lyrics are much more refined in this song.  I often find Mistreated’s lyrics very stale and boring since they’re basically just “I’ve been mistreated, I’ve been abused,” and the only reason they get away with that is because of David’s incredible vocal performances.  Trust me, Graham’s an incredible performer as well but these lyrics have much more substance to them and I feel just stands taller as a complete song.  Speaking of Graham, this is probably his strongest performance in the album.  You know what part I’m talking about if you’ve listened to this song but THAT part is just wow, that solidified him as one of my favorite vocalists of all time.  The entire song is really just a masterpiece and really just stands as one of the best Rainbow tunes in my opinion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1LvViMLKNo
2. Makin’ Love - Oh this song, how can I express my love for this song in ways that I haven’t already before.  Well if you didn’t know before, I put this as #5 on my top 5 Rainbow tunes and I still stick to it.  Let me just say, this is one of my favorite intros to any songs ever.  Don Airey is just magical in this entire album (and his entire career) but he especially shines here.  The simple yet beautiful little touches he adds throughout this song really makes it so much more profound.  That, once again, addicting Blackmore riff that just goes on throughout the song making the listener feel as if they’re going through a lonely yet sentimental walk down memory lane.  It kind of almost reminds me of one of my favorite Rick Springfield songs, Written In Rock, in that manner.  I guess I’m just a sucker for a pretty love ballad but man does Graham make it even better.  The man just had the perfect voice for these types of songs (please listen to Will You Be Home Tonight as an example) and he’s able to convey those vulnerable tones in his voice while maintaining that strong hard rock attitude like I’ve seen no other singer be able to.  I didn’t even mention the sudden shift during the pre-chorus that’s complimented with Cozy’s ferocious cymbal playing.  Overall, I’m just a sucker for a nice love song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRLHHftZEJA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eRLQyXzZ1Y (the live Alcatrazz version because Yngwie is a cocky little piece of work and gets his guitar unplugged for 1 minute of the song, Graham is a beast here)
1. Lost In Hollywood - The magnum opus, probably not only the greatest Rainbow song but one of the greatest songs ever written and produced.  I’ve already gone into detail about this song in my overall album review but just on first listening you can definitely tell that this song is something else.  The energy, the tempo, is almost seems rushing like they’re running out of time on the record to give everything they wanted to show to the listener.  The lyrics sort of remind me of Super Trouper (the Deep Purple one okay) if Super Trouper was an overdramatic and grandiose love ballad.  It’s obvious that the song is talking about the overbearing nature of becoming famous and the sacrifices one has to make to get to the mantle.  One of my favorite song lyrics of all time perfectly exemplify this through, “I’m gonna lose control, if I’ve been losing you to pay for rock and roll.”  They’re lost in Hollywood, not just the actual place but the lifestyle that befits every star.  I still think that Super Trouper as a song is a more profound piece on the effects of stardom as a whole but this song as well is beautifully written to talk about those themes in maybe not so personal manners.  The song really is just a beautiful showcase of the talents that were the Mark 4 lineup of Rainbow and stands in my eyes as one of the finest pieces of music ever created.
Yeah, I’ve probably over exaggerated enough.  Once again, I’m very biased here but I’m also speaking with my own tastes and experiences in mind.  Despite the constant lineup changes, Blackmore always seems to find the most top-notch musicians and I believe this lineup truly exemplified that.  It’s a shame that they couldn’t continue on but at least we got this album as a glorious reminder of what 5 musicians can do with enough talent and probably alcohol.
Also, the hallmark of all live performances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5VPzJlUKVc

surprises (aaron hotchner)
request: “imagine the reader goes to visit her family in south carolina. While she is there Hotch and Jack come to surprise her. One night they take a sunset beach walk and Hotch proposes to her on the beach. Hotch x reader. Love your writing so much”
a/n: I made some of the details a little less specific to make it more reader-friendly. I really hope that I’ve done this amazing request justice. It’s not my favorite of my fics, but I really hope that you enjoy it. (also not edited because I cannot stand to read my own fics)
about 2k words lol
warnings: none really, there’s a proposal which isn’t really a warning but um yeah, there's on slightly suggestive (but not really) joke and that's it.
gender-neutral reader, but let me know if I made any mistakes with that please!
masterlist
It was one of the first weekends off that you’d had in a while. Your boss was most definitely taking advantage of the fact that you were a semi-good worker, making you work almost as much as your boyfriend, Aaron Hotchner.
With that rare weekend off, you decided to pay a visit to your hometown. The reason why is unknown even to you. You voluntarily decided to spend almost 3 days with your parents. Sounds like fun, right?
After a very long (but also short) plane ride, you arrived in the airport that was near your hometown. By near, you mean over an hour away, but it was a small town, so what do you expect.
Once you got to your parents house, it was a flurry of hugs, lectures, and playing catch-up. You stole some time away to get settled in your room (just the same as you had left it many years ago, diaries and band posters included). The only thing that snapped you out of your visit down memory lane was shouting coming from downstairs. Worried, you ran down to find your parents crowded around the front door. You didn’t want to be nosy, so you hid behind a wall and eavesdropped, naturally.
“-just about to set out dinner-” You heard your mother say.
“-nice to finally meet you-” Came from your father. The person at the door had no chance to say anything with how fast your parents were talking, so you still weren’t sure as to who it was.
“-so adorable!” Your mother exclaimed, talking in the same voice she talks to her dog in.
“Thank you.” You heard a little, shy voice reply. Though, you recognized that voice. It sounded so familiar, but there was no way.
A polite chuckle brought you out of your thoughts, and there was no way you could mistake it. You had no idea how it was possible, but you knew you were right about what you heard. So, you stepped out from behind the wall to confirm your suspicions.
Standing in the doorway, looming over your parents, was that familiar head of dark hair, another chuckle coming from them. The people standing at the front door were yet to notice you, but you soon made your presence known.
“Aaron!?” You shouted, causing the four people standing there to turn to you. Sure enough, there stood Aaron with little Jack hiding slightly behind his Dad’s leg.
A smile split open on Aaron’s face, and your Mother immediately sprung into action, inviting them in and running into the kitchen to grab every drink they possessed, and probably a tray of crackers as well.
Once inside, Aaron walked right up to you, pulling you into his chest although it had only been a little over a day since you last saw him.
“What in the world are you doing here?” You asked, your voice muffled into his neck. You were confused, but so very happy to have him here with you, it was something you never expected.
“We wanted to visit you.” He replied, and that's when you became aware of the little monkey clinging to your leg. You pulled away from Aaron and hauled Jack into your arms, giving him a kiss on the cheek that he immediately returned.
“How did you even know where my parents lived?” You suddenly asked, knowing that it was something you hadn’t really ever mentioned.
“Y/n, we have a Garcia.”
Right, you thought. You should’ve known. Garcia could probably pull up the results of your first dentists appointment if she wanted to.
The rest of the day was spent acquainting Aaron and your parents, while Jack played with some toys that they kept out for your little cousins in the living room. It was safe to say that your boyfriend had won over both you mom and your dad within the first 10 minutes of meeting them, which is something you weren’t initially very worried about, but you were very relieved that they liked him.
Your parents prepared an amazing meal, and the whole night went very smoothly. After dinner, Jack was passed out on the couch, his head in Aaron’s lap. You smiled at his back from the other room, where your parents and you were sitting.
“He’s a good guy, y/n.” Your dad said, and you couldn't possibly agree more.
“He’s very handsome too,” Your mother commented, earning a teasing poke from your father. Aaron had his head turned, watching the interaction from the other room.
“Good genes.” She whispered in your ear, winking at you.
“Mom!” You pouted, but you couldn’t hide your laughter.
After Jack was put to bed, your parents forced you and Aaron out of the house, and you were glad to have some alone time with him. You were sitting, waiting in the car while Aaron was lingering in the house, telling you he wanted to speak to your parents about something. You really hoped they weren’t sharing any embarrassing stories, because you knew Aaron would never let you live them down.
Finally, Aaron joined you in the car.
“Where should we go?” You asked him, trying to think of any places that would impress him.
“It’s your hometown, y/n,” He said, setting his hand on your leg and smiling at you from the passenger seat, “Take me to your favorite place.”
You didn’t even have to think, immediately following a route that you had driven many times before. You knew the perfect place to go.
The ride there was short, but it was filled with a surprising silence. It was comfortable, sure, but Aaron had a weird vibe rolling off of him that you couldn’t place, and it made you slightly uneasy. His pointer finger was rapidly tapping on your leg, something you didn’t even think he realized he was doing.
Finally, you pulled up to your absolute favorite spot in the whole world. You jumped out of the car, excited to share the spot with the man you love.
“I probably spent more time here than I did at my own house.” You commented, leading Aaron down a little path through some trees that were more overgrown than you remembered. Aaron was walking behind you, gripping your hand tighter than usual.
“Don’t worry darling,” You laugh, “If you fall, I’ll catch you.” You state dramatically, expecting a laugh from Aaron. (You don’t get one).
“What?” He says, confused, and you are reminded of the weird vibe your boyfriend was still giving off, starting to slightly worry you now.
Once you cleared through the trees, you took a second to just soak in the sight you hadn’t seen in so long. Trees and rocks framed either side of a short, sandy beach. The calm waves lapped up against the shore, and the classic beach smell filled your nose. You took your shoes and socks off, signalling Aaron to do the same, setting them down on a nearby rock. You kicked playfully at the smooth, cool sand. The sun was setting on the water, reflecting a beautiful array of colors.
“Well isn’t this place suddenly romantic.” You joked, pulling Aaron down towards the water. You dipped your toe in, expecting it to be cold and being delightfully surprised when you found it was still warm. The second surprise you had experienced today. You and Aaron strolled on the beach, connected arms swinging between you. You were both quiet, soaking in each other’s presence.
After one particularly aggressive swing, your hand brushes against his leg and you let out a surprised noise.
“Is there something in your pocket, or are you just excited to see me?” You joke, but Aaron just stops in his tracks. You quickly turned to him, growing more and more concerned as the seconds passed by.
“Actually-” He clears his throat, and you can tell that, yes, something is definitely wrong, “actually, there’s something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about.” He stops, thinks for a second, and then goes on, “Something I’ve been meaning to ask you.”
You wait, clearly seeing that he needs a few seconds. You squeeze his hand that is still holding yours, feeling the breeze coming off of the water as it blows through you and Aaron’s hair. He isn’t looking at you, choosing instead to stare at his feet, the gears in his head turning.
After what you're sure is over a minute of silence, you bring your free hand up to Aaron’s cheek, and he automatically nestles into your palm. He takes a deep breath, and finally brings his head up and meets your eyes.
“Y/n-” He stops, pausing for a second before mumbling, “I really don’t know how to do this.”
“Y/n.” He starts again, trying to fill his voice with more confidence. It was not often that you saw Aaron Hotchner at a loss for words, but here he was, staring down at you with so many emotions unconcealed in his eyes. His feet in the wet sands with water lapping up onto them, the sun falling lower and lower beneath the water.
“Y/n, I just don’t even know where to start,” He smiles at you suddenly, and you unconsciously smile back, “When we met I was in a really low place in my life. You pulled me out of that. You stood by me even when I tried to push you away. You helped take care of Jack, and you helped take care of me, too. You became the light in my life, the sun.”
There's a feeling deep in your gut, like you know where this is going. Instead of thinking further about it, you nod at Aaron and continue to listen to his words.
“I don’t even know how to convey how much you mean to me, how much I love you. You make me so happy,” There are tears that start to gather in his eyes, and his smile grows wider with every word. He takes both of your hands in his, looking deep into your eyes.
“I think I should stop stalling and get to the point.” He mumbles, and you both let out huffs of laughter. Your fingers are shaking, and you can feel that his are, too. You notice that you’re also tearing up, listening to the love of your life try to convey everything he feels about you.
“I just can’t even put it into words, y/n. I’ve tried, but I just can’t.” He whispers through his smile. You nod frantically, squeezing his hands tighter.
“I know, Aaron, I know.” You tell him, because you do. You feel it every time you’re around him. How much he loves you, depends on you. How grateful he is for everything you do, everything you are.
He clears his throat one last time before beginning, “Y/n, will you-” He stops suddenly, and quickly drops to his knee, making you both laugh.
Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a little black box, opening it for you. You glance at the ring inside, before looking right back at him.
“Will you marry me, y/n?”
You’re frozen. You knew what he was about to say, and yet you were still standing stock-still, your breath knocked out of your lungs by his words. Every single cell in your body was screaming yes, pulling you closer to the man you love. The tears are falling freely from both of your eyes now.
You realize with a start that you had yet to respond. You can’t even get the words out, instead frantically nodding your head at him. He slips the ring on your finger and you immediately throw yourself into his arms, both of you falling down into the sand.
“I love you, I love you.” He whispers in your ear, stroking your hair.
“I love you too, Aaron. So much. So much.” You say, trying to sniffle away the tears.
You had many surprises that day, and all of them were unexpected yet welcomed with open arms.
Aaron Hotchner, the man lying next to you on the sand, watching as the last rays of sun slip behind the horizon, the man that makes your life so much better, the man that loves you so much, and that you love, is the man that you are going to spend the rest of your life with. Your soon-to-be husband, and your forever soulmate.

Totaled
You accidentally total your Dad’s precious car, but that’s not what he’s worried about.
-
“Be careful,” your dad told you as he handed you the keys to his precious black Audi. It wasn’t the first time he was letting you drive it, but it was the first time he was letting you drive it alone. You’d had your license for over a year and he still barely even let you get something from the inside if you left it. But you’d literally begged him, just this once, to drive it to the movies. And he’d finally agreed.
“Thank you!” You said, throwing your arms around his waist. He chuckled.
“If you crash this car, you will literally never see another set of keys as long as I’m alive.” You nodded.
           “I’m not a bad driver.”
“I know you’re not, ‘cause I taught you how. I’m just messing with you, alright?” You let go of him and took the keys from his hand. “Really, though. Drive safe, sweetie. I’ll see you tomorrow if I’m not up when you get back.”
“Okay. Good night.” He watched you as you went to the couch and grabbed your favorite fuzzy blanket, your wallet, and your phone. And then he watched you get into the car, set your phone up with Bluetooth, and drive off. He turned toward the dog on the couch, sat down with him, and turned on the TV.
He wasn’t lying, and you weren’t either. You were a good driver. He’d trained you well before letting you get your license – one of the first times you drove he had forced you to go up Mulholland. That had terrified you, but you were prepared for anything after that. So he didn’t feel bad about letting you have the car for the night. Besides, your own was there if he needed to go anywhere. It was just the fact that you were seventeen – it was less scary than sixteen, but not quite old enough yet to be on your own. And it was also the fact that you were going to the movies, at night, with a friend, on back roads that were hard to navigate in the dark. But you could handle it, he kept telling himself. He had to let go every once in awhile. This was one of those times.
You made it to your friend’s house, pulling into her driveway and getting out. You did a mini-photoshoot with it, just to send to your dad to make him laugh, and it got a few chuckles out of him. And then you were on your way to the movies.
“Dude, it’s fuckin’ creepy out here,” your friend said as you drove through the state park. You were going to the nicer theater a town over, and you were actually a little surprised your dad was okay with it. But your friend was right. It was creepy. The road was unfolding in front of you in a set of headlights, foggy as hell, and there were the occasional times your headlights would catch the bright red eyes of a deer. But you had it under control.
“Yeah, I know,” you said, adjusting your leg and bringing it up to rest in the seat. “Maybe next time we shouldn’t try to make a 10 PM showing.”
           “It’s more fun, though.”
“Oh, definitely.” You made it through the park and to the theater. Nothing bad happened there – you grabbed popcorn, chose your seats, took pictures of your tickets, and watched the movie. It was good, but there were a few things you wanted to remember to tell your dad later.
Movie is over! You texted him. Heading home!
           See you soon!
You walked out of the theater and threw away the last remaining bits of popcorn and soda, waiting for her to come out of the bathroom. And then you started the way home. The town was smaller than the one you lived in, but you knew it pretty well, and you took the back way out of the theater so there was less traffic. You were determined to make it through the night without crashing your dad’s precious car.
“Here we are again,” you said as you entered the park. This time it was darker and even foggier, but there were no jumping deer or drunk drivers. Everything was fine. You and your friend talked and laughed about the movie, turned your music down so that you could focus better, and just enjoyed being with each other. You didn’t get to see her much in the summer because your dad usually dragged you out to California, but the past few weeks you’d been back in Boston and trying to spend every minute with your friends.
You dropped your friend off at her house, still reeling from how tense you’d been driving through the park. You checked your phone – your dad hadn’t sent you anything to indicate that he was going to bed, so you assumed he would still be awake to talk a little bit about the movie. Your house was only ten minutes away, but you know what they say – most accidents happen when someone is ten minutes away from home. You took the neighborhood streets, the same streets you’d grown up on. You would know them with your eyes closed in a thunderstorm. And you knew that the entrance to your neighborhood required a U-turn. You slowed down and got in the correct lane, putting your signal on, and waited for a few cars to pass. There was a Camaro, one that was loud as hell, coming toward you, so you waited. But the car started veering away from their lane and into yours, and, oh, shit. You looked in your blind spot and tried to move, but the Camaro made it to you before you could.
You didn’t quite know what happened at first. Where the other car hit you. Later on you’d find out it hit the front of the car and they were drunk as well as going 70 in a 35. You could feel pain in your leg first, and then you felt the wheel hit your chest. Your head crashed into the airbag, but it wasn’t working right, it couldn’t have been, because the last thing you felt was a crack before your head hit the back of the seat. You tried to breathe, but in those few seconds all you wanted was your dad.
Your dad was still up, waiting for you, honestly. He wanted to see what you thought about the movie, but he also wanted to say goodnight. You always waited up for him, so he tried to do the same for you. He looked at the clock, and then back down at your text. You should have been home for about ten or fifteen minutes, and he knew you weren’t going to go anywhere that you weren’t supposed to go because he trusted you. He opened the tracking app and checked your phone, seeing that you were sitting at the neighborhood entrance. You probably just got caught in traffic, he thought.
Ten minutes later and you hadn’t moved. You were still not home. Something was wrong, your dad could feel it, and he decided to just call you. Usually he didn’t call you if you were driving, but he wanted to know where you were. His call went unanswered and he stood up, grabbing the keys to your car to go out and find you because maybe the transmission had shot again and your phone died or something, but before he could, he got a call.
“Hello?” He asked, looking out at the driveway to see if you would pull in while he was on the phone.
“Hi, are you the owner of a black Audi with the plates AZL-X32?” Chris hadn’t exactly memorized his plate numbers, but he was definitely the owner of a black Audi.
“Yeah, but my daughter should be driving it. Is everything okay?” He was sure you’d just gotten pulled over or something. Like he did, you sped just a little bit, but cops tended to go harder on kids than they did with adults.
“Unfortunately I’m at the scene of an accident involving the vehicle.” Chris’s heart dropped. “Another car hit hers head on while they were speeding.”
“Is she alright? Is she okay?” He asked. He started walking out of the house, locking the door, and climbed into your car.
“She was unresponsive when they pulled her out, but they’re speaking with her now. They’re taking her to Boston Memorial, is that alright?”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“Can we get her name and date of birth? And is she allergic to any medications or have any conditions?”
“Yeah, her birthday’s March 13th, 2003. She’s not allergic to anything that we know of besides peanuts. Her name is Y/n.”
“Thank you. I’ll be there at the hospital to get some more information from you.” Chris started driving toward the hospital, tears in his eyes, freaking out.
You were freaking out, too, only a different kind. Your entire body was bloody when you looked down. Your head was swimming and the only thing you could do was throw up when you realized where you were. You could see your cracked phone in the cup holder and wanted to reach for it, but your arm was in so much pain. You were in so much pain. Your head was hurting, your leg was hurting, and you could feel liquid dripping down. You knew it was bad. But suddenly a rush of air came toward you and someone was lifting you up.
“Dad?” You asked, wishing it was him. Your eyes were glazed over, unable to focus on anything. You saw the night sky.
“What’s your name, sweetie?” A voice asked. It was a woman’s voice.
“Y/n,” you said. “I want my dad, where’s my dad?”
“We’ll call him, honey, don’t worry. I’m gonna give you a mask and check over you, alright? Don’t fight me, I know you’re scared.” You were. You were terrified. You didn’t even really know what happened. But you could smell burning rubber and oil and blood. It only took you a second to come to the conclusion that you’d totaled your dad’s car because someone else had veered into your lane. You tried to say that, out loud, but the woman put a mask over your face. You felt the soft bed of a stretcher and then a clanging noise. You were in the back of an ambulance. The lights were what made you finally pass out. They were just too bright.
“I’m looking for my daughter, Y/n Evans, she was in a car crash, she would’ve been brought in half an hour ago,” Chris said hurriedly as he walked up to the front desk, nearly slamming your car keys down.
“She’s being looked at right now. If you could fill out some papers and consent forms, that would be the most helpful thing right now.”
“Of course.” Just as long as you were alive, he thought. But they wouldn’t be talking like that if you weren’t okay. So he sat down, filled out a shit ton of papers, and gave them back to the nurse. He called the neighbor, asking if they could lock the house up and make sure Dodger had some water because he was sure you’d be there all night and there was no way he was leaving you.
They finally let him in to see you half an hour later, when they’d moved you over to the pediatrics wing. He had to walk the entire length of the hospital, but at least they were letting him see you. He strode over to the front desk, asking for you, and they told you that you were the first door on the right and they’d send a nurse in to talk with him. He was quiet as he walked in, trying not to spook you, and sighed when he saw you. He couldn’t help but almost start crying; there were scratches on your face, a huge bruise on your neck, your leg was wrapped up but your wrist already had a cast on it, and most of all, he could see dried tears in your eyes. There was an IV giving you blood and that was what nearly broke him. You’d lost so much blood that they had to give you more.
“Hey, y/n, honey,” he said softly, walking toward you. He laid a hand in your hair, kissing your forehead. Your eyes didn’t quite open, but your hand started moving and he took it.
“Daddy,” you murmured. That actually made the tears fall from his cheeks. You hadn’t called him that since you were twelve.
“I thought I was gonna lose you, sweetheart.” He was incredibly gentle as he pulled the covers up over you when he saw the chill bumps on your arms. “Do you know what happened?”
“I was trying to turn and this car just came over into my lane. I tried to move, but I was too late.” He sighed. So it wasn’t your fault. That was good. But he was about to sue the shit out of somebody. “Don’t go all papa bear on me,” you murmured as if you knew what he was thinking.
“Hey, I get to go all papa bear on you.” You opened your eyes, finally, and he smiled at you. You couldn’t do much, but you wanted to be closer. You needed to be closer. You did what you could do scoot over into the corner of the bed, right next to where your dad was sitting. A nurse walked into the room and asked your name.
“Yeah, that’s us,” your dad responded. He squeezed your hand, looking down as your eyelids shut again.
“She’ll be just fine. Her ankle is fractured, she broke one of her wrists, and she lost two pints of blood from a cut on her thighs. But she’ll be perfectly fine. We can’t let her go home tonight, we need to monitor everything, especially the cuts and the blood transfusion.” Your dad nodded.
           “Thank you.”
“I’ll be around to check for her vitals every half an hour for four hours, and then we’ll change to once an hour if things are getting better. How does that sound, Y/n?” The nurse asked. You didn’t really answer. You just stuck your thumb up.
“Thank you,” Chris said with a smile. The nurse started checking you over and left a few minutes later. Chris sat in the silence for a few minutes as you slept, only able to hear the ringing of a telephone and a siren down below. He got up, making the rounds and calling the insurance company, then calling the police to get access to the crash report for insurance, and then calling your grandparents to tell them what happened. He must have been on the phone for a few hours because the nurse only started coming once an hour and the sun was finally starting to rise. You woke up with it, opening your eyes and looking around the room.
“Dad?” You asked. He turned his eyes toward you and walked over, sitting back down in the chair.
“Hey, honey,” he replied. “How do you feel?”
           “Awful.”
“A car accident will do that to you, huh?” His voice was soft and his eyes lit up when he watched you. They always did.
“I’m sorry I lied to you.”
           “What?”
“I told you I wouldn’t crash your car.” He chuckled.
“That wasn’t your fault, hon. None of this is.”
           “But I crashed your car.”
“Cars can be replaced, sweetie. You can’t.  But there’s no way in hell I’m ever letting you drive it again.”
           “Yeah, I ruined that didn’t I?”
“Maybe. Are you hurting at all? We can get you some more pain meds if you are.” You shook your head. He brushed your hair out of your face, his thumb rubbing against a cut on your forehead.
“I’m just tired. And I wanna go home.”
“They need you to stay for a few more hours and then I can take you home, alright?” You just nodded this time. “You can go back to sleep if you want.”
           “Where’s my phone?”
“I don’t know if they found it or not, we’ll get you another one if it’s messed up.”
“I wanted to watch Netflix.” He chuckled and handed you his phone, pulled up to Netflix. You laid down on your side, as close to him as you could get, and started watching your favorite show. You fell asleep half an hour later, right before your grandparents called to check in. Your dad gave your forehead a kiss before standing up to answer the phone.
“How is she doing?” Your grandmother asked right away.
“She’s alright, she’s sleeping right now,” Chris said softly, letting go of your hand to walk out into the hallway so he wouldn’t wake you up.
“That’s good. We’ll come over and let the dog out and feed him. And we can bring you both some clothes and chargers.”
“That would be amazing. Can you bring me her laptop, too? She can’t find her phone.”
“Of course.” His mom paused. “You’re doing so well with her, Chris. You always have. We’re so proud of you.”
“She’s doing it all on her own. I saw a picture of the car last night. It’s hard to believe anyone made it out of there, much less her.” He saw you waking up. “Hold on, she’s waking up.” You were just stretching, but it nearly gave him a heart attack. He really needed to get some sleep or he just might go crazy.
“You okay?” He asked you. You didn’t answer. You were asleep.
           “Is she?” Your dad sighed.
“She’s asleep. She was just stretching, I think.”
“I’ll let you go then. I’ll see you soon.”
“Bye, Ma. Love you.” Chris hung up the phone and walked back over to you, sitting down again, and took your hand. There were two things he was absolutely sure of; he was staying with you, and he was never, ever letting you drive his car again.
A/N: I hope this was fluffy enough because I am in overload right now! Thank you for the request because I loved writing this one!
