today i was driving to this park where i walk goblin sometimes. nick called me from california. he stopped at starbucks the same time i did, except i live in massachusetts, so we are technically ordering 3 hours apart from each other. we both order the same drink, just to say we split it. it is a tuesday, and i almost cried.

the crossing guard is in all green. neon green, like a sour lime. head to toe. neon green shoes and neon green leggings and a big neon green shirt. neon green glasses and a hat. i guess the crossing vest is more yellow than green, but i'm colorblind, so be nice.

the car in front of me pulls to a stop. a woman jumps out from behind the wheel. for a second, i am worried about the man and if he is safe. sometimes people are mean. (this is an understatement. i live in boston. masshole drivers are actually all running from a felony conviction. i know this because i am one.)

but the woman is in a beautiful pink outfit, like the inside of a seashell. a bathtub pink. her hair is pink too. pink nails and pink pants and a pink blouse and pink jacket. she is laughing, and does a little spin for him. he laughs and spins too, his hands over his head in a round imitation of a ballerina. (i am a ballerina. it does not offend me. i like that his arms become a little heart frame overhead. how cute!)

it is a quick moment, and the woman is back in her car, and i see the driver on the other side of the road laughing, and then i am moving again. i wave at the crossing guard, who is still smiling. he waves back. i tell nick i love people.

today i am wearing a monochrome outfit. just for fun. sometimes you need to do stuff like that, you know? to remind yourself the world is so big. someone out there already loves you. i know this because i am one.

im obsessed with the oneiric pearls. what a delightfully weird little bit of worldbuilding; sometimes zailors just develop pearls in their stomachs, that's just a thing that happens. Strange sensations that get in your head at zee made bearable to the body only by tangibly coating them in dream...

anyway samuel has sort of a chronic oneiric pearl problem on account of spending way too much time at zee, and since he sometimes stays at Peter & Jack's place when the nightmares get bad, it seems like, these things could combine awkwardly,

The very obviously disguised as Interviewer-Paparazzi comes closer and closer towards him, „Please, just one question!“ Dream rolls his eye „I‘m not supposed to speak with strangers… But alright! I‘ll bite! What‘s your question?“ the ‚interviewer‘ gets out a notepad and pen, the moment dragging on into annoyingly endless territory, then comes the question; „Do you have a father?“ The room goes quiet is an understatement.

*finally comes up for air* hello i opened my sketchbook three days ago intended on coloring pre-existing art and now i have an entirely new piece i didn't mean to make!! whoops

my beloved bee <3 y'all may get more context for this later ;)

item explanation and symbolism under the cut!!!

this piece is designed to look like a clock, with marigold's time slowly ticking down.

the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o clock positions are red honey spoons used by the princess and @thedeafprophet 's jamie! the things marigold was served up on, and the closest they get to people anymore

1 is a honey (or blood) stained glove. from the princess. the only item which breaks the inner ring

2 is an unfinished piece of lace. before marigold was the Love-Sick Captive, they were once the Encoded Lace-Maker

4 is the princess' old perfume bottle

5 is one of jamie's pens

7 is a flower locket, one of marigold's few things from their old life

8 is jamie's bowtie

10 is a raven feather. the one who sent them to the protest, who told marigold to allow themself to be captured

11 is torn out pages of jamie's journal scraps. marigold can't see the handwriting, let alone read it, but that doesn't matter. what matters is that they belong to jamie. they know the words by heart

and of course, the item in marigold's hand is some of jamie's own hair. the only item fully inside the inner ring

marigold's normally pristine bow is beginning to look ragged here
