anyways thoughts on new breed: I don’t mind them that much! they’re a bit boring and I keep thinking they’re ancients / expecting them to have line breaking genes lol but idk, not a bad boring. i love the hatchling pose and the F pose is nice. I kind of despise the M pose because it has the same issues as undertide M / aether M / auraboa M to me (that negative space man…), but the F pose more than makes up for that to me so i’ll probably get a few

Sketch of my second progenitor! She is a Fae turned Gaoler through magical means. In FR lore, fae dragons express tone via their frills, and as such they speak in very monotone voices, making them hard for other breeds to understand. My thought on the humanization equivalent of this (it's a stretch) is her appearance became totally different and also she totally lost the muscle memory to use a form of fae sign language; it's a trade she did not take lightly when she agreed

In lore PlanetaryFizz (name given to it by the head scientist) is the largest

It's a transdimensional entity that infiltrated the Aether Orbiter and assumed the appearance of the Aethers inside. It's not malignant, but it's not overly friendly. You could approach it but it's very dangerous to, it could kill you in an instant.

It's held in some sort of cell in the laboratory and is being studied. The head scientist, Hollunuo, has appointed himself the task of understanding this... Thing.

It's driving him mad though. At first he thought the cell actually contained the entity, but he quickly realized that no. The entity is staying in there willingly. It can leave whenever it wants to.

PlanetaryFizz' true size is unknown, but after the Orbiter returned to Sornieth and the entity was taken to the lab it grew in size. Significantly. It's about the size of a 3–4 story house currently.

malleus draconia. mortality, humanity and grief.

Malleus will never know grief before you.

He thinks of grief as a concept made by humans, their time on this realm so fickle and small; a painting of his mother and father in the colours of Lilia's mourning garment, an absence of which he as a child struggled to understand. He grasps at the idea of it, cradles it in his tiny palms like a flickering firefly. The curious fae-child dreams of loss, but no sort of magic can conjure the ache of something he never had.

He cradles the firefly anyway, watches its light flicker and die out. When you call his name and he looks up to see you — youthful, vibrant, mortal — Malleus wonders if the same fate will befall upon you.

Malleus tries to borrow the grief from the part of him that will exist in decades time. Grasps at that dying light in a future he cannot imagine, a future without you. There is something morbid here, he understands— a fixation on the concept of grief, mourning, mortality. He will never understand it, he thinks. He tries anyway. But grief is a painting he cannot capture when you are still living and breathing beside him, your light candescent in the perpetual dullness that Malleus himself never realised his life was stuck in.

He cannot imagine it, this— this life without you. That one day he will look upon the stars and you are not somewhere in the same realm, looking up at the very same constellations. It is not a matter of refusing to acknowledge it, no— Malleus simply cannot fathom the very real possibility that one day he will be here and you will be gone.

Malleus wonders what Lilia sees when he looks at him with you, what makes his eyes soften and the mourning weigh less on his shoulder. As a growing child, Malleus had thought that Lilia's grief grew smaller as the centuries passed— he understands now that the scope of Lilia's life has only grown around it, no longer twin wounds in the gaping maw of his chest, but hands cradling the grief as Meleanor might have done to Malleus, had she lived long enough to see him hatch.

"They will die one day," Lilia told him once, hovering by Malleus's perch on the balcony as they watch you walk down the stone steps of Diasmonia. "You understand this, don't you?"

"Of course I do," Malleus had said, even when he did not. A life without you did not seem to be much of a life at all, only some far-away dream, one that Malleus finds himself not indifferent to, but certainly unaffected by— for now, at least.

"You will grieve them for the rest of your days."

"I know."

"Do you understand grief, my boy?"

Malleus is quiet. He looks to Lilia, this man that has raised him since he was but a hatchling, who had once loved his parents and grieved for the absence of them in his life that Malleus had never

"No," Malleus confesses.

"You will," Lilia says softly, his voice not unkind, but full of pity. He knows what it is to grieve, but he had lived centuries with Meleanor and Raverne— you will pass long before Malleus is a Fae fully-grown; your life is but a drop in the ocean of his. "By the Seven, my boy, you will."

"Hey... We aren't trying to take your omega" Lilia said softly to his ward, Malleus holding (name) close in his arms in the depths of the dorms, (name) unconscious in his arms as the Fae prince kept him safe in his hold.

His green eyes practically glowed as he growled at his guardian "I know, he's your mate... But he needs help" (name) had bruises, having been attacked by another student when Malleus was passing by, they understood protecting him but he was treating (name) like he was his mate.

Lilia sighed as he looked at the other whom he considered his pup "your omega is injured pup, let me help" his voice soothing and calm, a tone he used when Malleus was just a hatchling and it seemed to resonate in his brain, the feral fae prince allowing Lilia to come close and inspect the Omega he claimed as his mate "good hatchling" Lilia said to his adoptive son, Malleus grunting as he watched carefully "you did so good protecting him, he only has a few bruises" nothing magic couldn't fix after all.

Malleus preened under his adoptive sires praise, fully feral as he pulled (name) back into his hold "why don't you show him your hoard? Keep him safe" Lilia said softly, watching the other take (name) into his walk in closet, the dragon fae pleased to have (name) amongst the hoard/nest.

The teachers made quick work to remove the problem student as word got around about the incident, a few witnesses seeing it, reporting it to the staff immediately.

And now they could only wait for the prince to snap out of it for the safety of (name).

When (name) woke he was surrounded by warmth and the smell of spring and campfire, sleepily snuggling into the chest of--

Looking up his eyes connected with emerald eyes, shrouded by long black strands of hair, horns stop at the base of his crown.

"H-hi?" He was confused and startled, his last memories being pinned against books and nearly assaulted "mate" Malleus said simply as he scented the Omega, nose brushing his neck lovingly. (Name) didn't know what to do, his omega soothed by the gestures that the other showed "were you the one that helped me?" (Name) asked knowing he wasn't going to get a response as he adjusted himself to look at the other clearly "thank you Malleus" he whispered and the others lizard brain slowly processed the praise and rumbled before gently nipping (name)s cheek as a form of kiss.

(Name) was thankful for health class, learning how to get an alpha out of a feral state though it was easier said than done with his nerves.

Gently he took his face in his hands and kissed him "please come back..." He was awkward as he tried to seem submissive to the other, pumping out calming pharamones to convince the other.

It took an hour before the lights turned on behind his eyes and he inspected him "thanks for helping me... Sorry I made you go feral"

"You're my mate, of course I would" Malleus said as if it were an obvious fact and (name) was confused "what are you talking about?" They weren't mates? They hadn't even spoken before this "I could sense it" malleus held (name)s hand and mumbled an incantation, the closet glowed slightly as a flower bloomed on each of their hands, identical to one another "Fae magic allows one to see their soulmate through flowers" malleus explained and (name) was in awe as the flowers disappeared like bits of shattered glass before fading out of existence "so... You want me?"

"You are my mate, why wouldn't I?" Malleus spoke like it was obvious "you will return with me to the briar valley" he said assuredly and (name) smiled "you will have to take that up with my brother" (name) said softly and Malleus tilted his head but just held him close.

Lilia smiled at his ward, weeks had passed and Malleus was giving (name) very fae like courting gifts, plants and magic items and (name) in return gave him food and scented items.

It was quite cute but (name)s older brother wasn't a fan, Leona glaring at the relationship but didn't say anything, knowing his brother was happy, the Omega having multiple sources of scary dog privileges.

And with one of the most powerful mages as a mate. Leona didn't have any particular worries.

People found it funny how (name) could be carried by his new mate, Malleus a few times draping himself over the short lion who in turn soaked up the warmth.

You stated in previous chapters / answered asks that some monsters are open to sharing the Human darling with their comrades. How would the dynamic of those harem / poly pairings work in the future where their mated / married / bonded to her with children? Is there a primary significant other among them? Are they all referred to as some variation of dad, or are non bio-dad(s) called uncle / something else? How hands on / affectionate are they with children they aren't related to biologically? If their Human specified an amount of kids, as well as the order she'd want them to get her pregnant (like having a pup with Sebek first since he's the only one that can knock her up with needing a c-section) would they respect or would there be coercion / guilt trips to change her mind?

In terms of Malleus and his Hoard, he is the one who is the primary mate to the Human, everyone in the hoard knows this and respects it. As far as having a hybrid from the different Hoard members go, Lilia will fight to the death to be the primary caretaker and few are willing to challenge him on that. Fae are notorious for stealing and obsessing over Human children and Lilia is no exception with these Hybrids as many share the Human traits considered to be so cute. Of course, he wouldn't encourage any child other than those officially his own to call him 'Father' or some variant of, he still won't discourage it either.

Malleus is insistent that he be given the right to actually breed the Human first as Dragons take quite some time to grow and develop and Briar Valley does need an heir to the throne once he takes over for his Grandmother. He will try to ensure the egg is safely delivered with very minimal damage and hopefully without the Human needing a c-section. After that, other Hoard members are welcome to mate the Human so long as the Human is willing to bear more children for the Hoard. Lilia will likely be next due to general ranking in the Hoard and Lilia wants a whole hoard of children to raise. Provided the infant isn't too large to damage their wings, they can be delivered without a c-section. It's only when the infant is too large that they need to be removed for the safety of the mother and the infant. Silver and Sebek would be next provided the Human is alright with bearing them young as well. It is less of a need for them as it is for Malleus- for his own sake and the sake of Briar Valley- and Lilia- who is obsessed with having his own hybrid child. They would happily take up the mantle of father if given the opportunity though.

Silver and Sebek are perpetually stressed parent figures who are honestly glad Malleus and Lilia are stepping into the fathering roles. They will show affection and act as co-parents to the herd of children, but they are nowhere near Lilia's level of parenting. Lilia is taking over a parental role regardless of whose child it is ultimately. Malleus will immediately add all children born to his Hoard to his Hoard officially. They are all his treasures and though he doesn't know for sure how to be the parent he wants to be, he will try to do it for his new Hoard members.

The group of some half and some full siblings would actually get along rather well. You can certainly tell who takes after who most but the children are siblings on their mother's side so they would actually play nicely together. Lilia will make sure there is harmony among the children and does a good job at keeping them peaceful with one another. Any conflict is resolved quickly.

Vil and Rook would be able to share the responsibilities of parents so well they both are Dad (Vil) and Papa (Rook) respectively. Each chick and hatchling will just be convinced they have three parents. Rook has a large family himself, so he will be happy to raise Vil's chicks with his own hatchlings. Vil will ensure the entire family is supported through his acting and will be vicious to any paparazzi looking to harass his mates or his children.

Rook is as much Vil's mate as the Human's mate and the Drider will fight to protect his mates. It doesn't really matter to them who the Human chooses first, so long as they both get an equal shot. Vil is the stricter parent where the Human is the more lenient one. Rook often plays mediator to try and placate the different parenting styles and keep peace among his beloveds. Both men would share duty as parents and lovers with grace and equity.

The Harpy chicks actually prefer their Drider half-siblings over one another as they will be in conflict and direct competition with one another first and foremost by instinct alone. The Drider babies are usually competing with one another as well, so it would be ideal to have one Harpy chick per Drider hatchling. Not every egg hatches but it more likely there will be more drider babies than harpy babies based on egg number alone.

Azul, Floyd, and Jade would have a very unbalanced sharing of parental duties. Most of the infancy tasks would likely fall to Jade and the Human as Floyd would flake out when he doesn't feel like it and Azul won't really get what to do at first. Eventually Azul's many tentacles will come in handy to keep the infants calm while he works and give the main two parents a break.

Jade and the Human will likely have the closest bond out of the four as they cook together and rear the young together, but Floyd makes it clear he needs his time with the Human as well. Azul is more the sugar-daddy of the group, but he is still happy to spend an extended time with the Human and the many infants. Floyd is fun-dad as decreed by the shoal, or as he calls himself Daddy. Jade is Father to the shoal and is the one the kids go to when they need help. Azul is either Boss Azul or Octo-papa. The Human is the one and only Mama of the group and is the main comfort and support of the family for all three fathers and children. Basically the keystone that keeps Jade and Floyd from trying to kick Azul out of the family or eat him as both eels are fond of eating octopus. The group is in harmony with the Human among them.

The Eel children will easily forget they don't share the same fathers and odds are both Floyd and Jade will be putting their eggs in the Human around the same time, so even the parents don't know who belongs to who. They just assume the more mild-mannered ones belong to Jade and the lackadaisical ones are Floyd's. The octo-babies will put themselves in octopus pots to avoid the teasing of their Eel siblings as they are far less rough and tumble than the Eels. Azul will show favoritism to the ones that are too afraid to leave their pots early on in life as he was also quite fond of hiding in his own octopus pot as a child.

from the fae novels i've read through thorough researching of fae age... the most i can decipher from malleus and lilia's mental/human equivalent age is that, divide their current age to 10 human years (fae age/10). so, in this case 1 fae year = 10 human years.

/SPOILERS BEYOND THIS MARK

lilia was 300 years old during the war so that makes him 30 years old, fairly young and mature enough to literally be a soldier.

malleus is currently 178 years old, divided by 10 human years, he's 17.8 technically rounding off to 18 years old. which is just accurate enough for both his mindset and body + his currently year in nrc. lilia did say he's still young and growing, and that he is a still a child. his draconic species specificied that at 200 they are a hatchling, a teenager at 500, and a full-fledged adult at 1000 (lilia said it himself).

mal should've been born when lilia's 302/303 years old since lilia said that mal should've hatched by 2-3 years. theoretically speaking, present malleus should've been around late 30s to early 40s by now (397 years old). but alas, he was delayed.

now, present lilia says he's nearing 700 years old. he's nearing 70 years old so that's around 68-69 years for humans. considering his speech and mindset while still having the slow ability to adapt to the present world, it's just....right.

now if mal is 178 and lilia's 700, look at mal being 18 and lilia is 70 in human ages. silver is 17, sebek is 16. just clicks right in my humble opinion.

this is all just hypothetical analysis since the fae worldbuilding concepting in different forms of media is complex. however, this is the closest i could decipher to how we see them in a mortal light. now i shall rest my brain i hate math.

TO SUMMARIZE

fae age ÷ 10 because 1 fae year = 10 human years

lilia is 70 years old (700/10), 30 during the war (300/10)

malleus is currently 18 years old. (178/10)
