the hero as a captive on the villain’s ship: opportunity for rope burns, sea sickness, crippling sunburn...

hero’s crew being captured by the pirates. the hero is forced to spend their captivity as the villain’s pet, while their crew is subjected to brutal torture in the brig.

hero discovering that the monarch/kingdom/government they work for isn’t as righteous as they believed. perfect opportunity for the villain to turn their pawn into their own loyal subject.

hero being seduced into joining the villain.

or reverse, the villain being seduced by the hero. they don’t mind throwing other pirate crews under the bus if it means the hero will stay by their side.

the villain seeing the hero as their “treasure” to claim.

2,000-Year-Old 'Pizza' Fresco Discovered in Pompeii

Italians are known for their love of pizza – and now archaeologists may have discovered a painting which depicts what might be its precursor in Pompeii.

Italy’s culture ministry said the flatbread depicted in the 2,000-year-old fresco ‘may be a distant ancestor of the modern dish’.

This is because it lacks the classic ingredients to technically be considered a pizza, with tomatoes and mozzarella not available when the fresco was painted some 2,000 years ago.

Tomatoes were introduced from America a few centuries back, while stories of the origins of mozzarella vary. Some historians suggest its genesis dates as far back as 1000 A.D. when it was invented accidentally, while others claim a much later discovery of mozzarella in the 1700s led to the invention of pizza in nearby Naples.

The fresco was found in the hall of a house next to a bakery during recent digs this year at the site in southern Italy.

The skeletons of three people were also found near the oven in the working areas of the home in recent weeks, a culture ministry statement added.

The discovery was made during new excavations of Regio IX in the centre of Pompeii.

Archaeologists say the flatbread in the picture may have been eaten with fruits such as pomegranates or dates, or dressed with spices and a type of pesto sauce.

Pompeii director Gabriel Zuchtriegel said it shows the contrast between a ‘frugal and simple meal’ and the ‘luxury of silver trays’.

‘How can we fail to think, in this regard, of pizza, also born as a ‘poor’ dish in southern Italy, which has now conquered the world and is also served in starred restaurants,’ he said.

Alongside the fresco, the skeletons of three people were also discovered in the working areas of the home in recent weeks, a culture ministry statement added.

Pompeii was destroyed in the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

The sudden and deadly event left much of the structure intact, embalmed in volcanic ash, and the site is now a major archaeological project and tourist attraction.

my first was... (going to make most people here feel old) pokémon alpha sapphire! my favorite things to do were... contests, pokémon amie, and making pokeblocks! but yes i actually need to replay it sometime, but that was my first!! i had a lot of fun with it!

Pokémon headcanon:

Instead of regular swear words or using the Lord’s name in vain, characters in the Pokémon use curses that feature Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. They also do this for blessings as well, or any situation where you would want to swear.

Examples:

“Arceus” : catchall curse. (“Dear Arceus” , “I swear to Arceus”)

“By Dialga, I hate changing time zones.”

Of course these curses and blessings can also vary by region.

Today I learned the highly saturated coloring on all of the gen 1-2 Sugimori Pokemon art was only like that because of shitty quality scans somebody made over 20 years ago that then got circulated all over the net. Tauros’s art for example actually looks like this. What the fuck.

It started out with wanting to create a mascot and now it has morphed into a group of cuties I’m calling Studio Darlings! The first of course is Sunny, a Prickly Pear Cactus Cat! She likes naps in the sun, playing in the rain, chocolate chip cookies, listening to music. and growing flowers. She hates the cold, scorpions, and getting her flower petals wrinkled. Next is my second little Darling, Bonnie the Boba Turtle! She loves swimming, sunbathing, and trying new milk teas and boba flavors. She’ll occasionally combine flavors to create something new. She hates storms, sharks, and being rushed around as she prefers to take things slow and think things through. The next cutie is a pup named Rika the Ramen Poodle! Her favorite ramen is any of them, and she also loves trying on new bowls as hats, sleeping on your pillow, painting with paw prints, and fetching chopsticks. She hates baths, unless their steaming hot, getting her fur brushed, and heights. Last is my latest and one of my faves honestly, Usagi the Matcha Bunny! She loves grooming her fur, sipping tea while having long conversations with good friends, reading, and eating mochi. She hates getting dirty, the rain and rudeness as she’s all about being kind, polite and dignified. What do you think? Who is your favorite?
