Comments: have recently completed the gesture drawing part of the first month or marc brunets learn to draw in a year challenge, I think there are a few with somewhat decent anatomy that show the gestures okay especially towards the end of the 30, but throughout I had significant troubles with proportions especially of the legs, 15 and any ones with legs bent in a similar way caused alot of difficulty in the legs as i just couldn'tbget it too look correctly which i think means i gotta improve my legs in perspective, I also took the full 5 minutes on each one, as well as some having questionable anatomy

Future action: I think in future I need to focus on reducing the amount of lines per drawing so I can cut the time down to 2 minutes as well as working on getting the proportions more correct and getting limbs to look like they're actually bent in perspective properly

Rest of month: all that's left for this month is to do some basic anatomy and then some line art based artist studies

been following Marc Brunet’s “learn to draw in 1 year” study guide aaand this is my portrait for March (was meant to colour it too but eh). I struggled at first with the proportions and then the HAIR was a whole thing, ugh. but I got through it! took an hour and 40 minutes to complete. doing this made me realize I’ve not done a proper shaded portrait since 2019 😨

STUDENT LOG 4: February 1st, 2025

Hello! I am finally posting my Week 3 work! A lot of new things this week --- new pen control exercises, introduced gesture, and artist studies! Digital gesture drawing sure takes getting use to. I only managed to get one artist study done so far (see the last image). I decided to do a piece by tacodemuerte. Their art has such amazing gesture and stylization! Their lineart is great too. I tried not to spend too much time on the art, so my study isn't entirely accurate, but I enjoyed deeper analyzing the piece. Week 4 introduces perspective, and I finally get to move on from the tracing exercise (thank God)! I'm going to spend two weeks on Week 4 and catching up on the Week 3 studies.

Finally done with this. Drawing landscapes are fun but drawing cities…not so much. There’s just too much for me to draw and I can’t focus. Anyway on to March! Hopefully it’s a bit easier. I'm following a study guide set by Marc Brunet for the year of 2023. For February 80 2 minute gesture drawings is part of that. Here are my first 20. (The second 40 will be male.)

I am feeling myself finally getting into the groove of this again and am realizing this needs to be something I do often for warm ups.

It's invaluable as an exercise.

Completed the basic perspective part of marc brunets 1 year drawing plan, just did 1 point perspective for this month since the plan doesn't call for 2 point perspective until month 3, I watched a few videos and took a few notes on some of the key things for perspective, on the top of the second perspective page I tried to use a grid that was shown in one of the videos but I didn't vibe with that method quite yet might try again at somepoint, overall I found the perspective for this month fairly easy as I have done the learn to draw in 1 month challenge so have done basic perspective before.

All I've got left to do for this month is the line art studies, I haven't done any drawing for a bit because uni has been kicking my ass but I'm trying to scrape back the motivation to continue, I'm not sure if I'm going to post the line art studies since it involves copying and I don't know how I feel about posting art that I've copied even if it's just for a study

so marc brunet's 1 year study schedule said to do some character design studies, and so i chose @greekceltic's Herman! (ive always loved the horns so i couldnt help myself)

but i specifically did the version thats a dragon, but the version of dragon Herman with no wings, and also no clothes

i feel like i learned a lot but i dont know what ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
