Miniroth having ugly nightmares every single night.

Visions of Glenn leaving him, visions of Rosen perishing on his blade, visions of all the Rhadorans he killed--Children and elderly included. Carnage. Destruction. Hojo's lab, his tanks, the surgical table. An endless storm of pain and guilt and anguish.

Sephiroth screams at the top of his lungs, body thrashing about in his sleeping bag. It isn't until Angeal leans over to gently wake him that he's able to finally relax. The other boy was watching him from across the campfire, panicking at the sight, now stooping over to gently rub Sephiroth's back, to tell him everything is okay, that he's safe and among friends. There's no battles to fight, no cruel scientists to deal with. No one will hurt him. He's alright.

He's safe.

The nightmares persist, of course. But Angeal is there to wake him every time. And Sephiroth comes to rely on this gesture of kindness little by little. The nights gradually become more bearable, the darkness less suffocating.

He's safe.

He's safe.

Years later, Sephiroth lays in that dark pit of his own brutal making, holding himself in the musty library, losing himself, losing time and space and feeling. Losing hope. Losing faith.

Losing whatever it was that made him human.

But he no longer remembers. And he no longer cares.

Angeal isn't here to wake him.

Adult Sephiroth's Ever Crisis design is so silly because not only is he w i d e and dorito-shaped, but he also looks??? Really sinister??? Which is all well and good for OG but then you got Sane!Seph in Crisis Core and the First Soldier flashforwards and he's really chill and nice and soft while his deranged avatar is cheesing it up plotting genocide.
