Yet again, I will never be patient enough to let a king retire naturally and I have crowned a new one. I got bored of my previous appearance so I decided it was time for a full change!

Wild Wild West - Wild Horses of Alberta by Georgie Alexon Via Flickr: This family of wild horses was standing beside a country road in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The young foal was standing in front of his mother who has her head resting on his back. There are about 900 wild feral horses in Alberta. - Equus ferus

SNIPPET SUNDAY #13
Checked to see how many I've posted, and its been about 13 :3
This one was for funsies. Haven't really gone through yet to edit it, nor fix much dialog but its just a fun little short I did in the car
---
The air was heavy and tense, and the guest starred his Crown down with a deep set anger. Mav noticed how the magistrate’s fist shook on the table and how he gritted his teeth, but the famously arrogant young man feigned ignorance.
He leaned back in his chair, tossing his boots up into the table as he lounged. His eyes squinted as he smiled and tilted his head.
“Real shame,” Mav sighed, rolling his wrist and gesturing with his palm up.
“You already owe from last year, Ferus. And the year before… and the year before……. If your people’s yields aren't up to our standards, then that is not the Aeraki’s fault. Maybe Pinna is displeased with you? They should pray more, offer more to Lord Pinna.”
“We’ve given what we can, my Crown. We’ve prayed! We’ve knelt to statues and held both celebrations and vigils to honour our Lord.”
Mav turned his hand up and began examining his nails, picking at the red and gold polish with his other hand.
“All other canton’s have provided beautifully this year. The winter ended early, it rained just the right amount this year… this issue is not some whim of luck. It's clear that either your people need to give more back so this debt can be settled, or you have a debt with God. Higher tax or further prayer, Whatever it may be, it's not my problem. Figure it out, or the Aeraki will have to do some unfortunate cost cutting.”
Ferus slammed his fist on the table and rose from his seat.
Mirka, who posted behind Mav’s plush chair, stood at attention. Being not only his lover but his personal knight, she did not let her attention waver during these meetings. Especially not when it came to desperate aristocrats facing the consequences of failure.
Her hand was eager, rested on the hilt of her sword. She tightened her grip on the handle and her pinky slid against its holster to lift it an inch from its home.
Her foggy grey eyes locked into Ferus’ and she tilted her head as Mav had done.
She didn't need to open her mouth and speak to ask him if making his point was worth losing flesh and teeth.
The magistrate did not sit, but his posture did shift into a sulking submission.
Mav looked up through his eyelashes and frowned at him while he watched his inferior shake in frustration.
“My Crown- the-”
“Ah-ah ah ah-!” his Crown interjected with a hiss, “I refuse to repeat myself again.”
“You know the war has been rough on us… A lot of land is left unattended t-”
Mav's expression soured and his nose scrunched, “I really hate repeating myself.”
“I just need you to understand that we are a very small population in the first place. Most of our income has been halved at best… with these tariffs, we’ve lost an extreme amount of revenue as Midonia no longer sends their trades through our ports. Our farmers, boatmen and fishers have gone to fight.” He seethed, shaking his head, “You’ve screwed us, Aeraki. You’ve screwed us and yet still expect the same taxes from my people.”
Mav rolled his eyes, crossing his arms and staring at Ferus until Mirka placed her palm on her husband's shoulder.
She broke her silence, “We understand. What you’ve sent is enough.”
Mav shot a look up at Mirka as well, offended and confused.
Ferus’ mouth twitched and he looked to Mirka cautiously.
“What?...”
“So long as you’re comfortable with your people racking up debt. We can make arrangements… We can keep interest manageable.”
Mirka stepped closer to the table and moved her hands to rest her knuckles on the table.
Ferus stammered, “I know damn well that the interest the Aeraki would impose is NOT MANAGEABLE.”
“Do not test it, Ferus. We’re extending a hand to you out of good will.”
Ferus raised a pointed finger to Mirka’s face, opening his mouth then closing it.
“Good will?! Good will would be bringing our men and women home. Good will would be forgiving our debts. Good will would be preventing this whole issue in the FIRST PLACE.” Ferus gained his confidence back, inhaling and puffing himself up.
“Good will is giving you something when my husband would rather see you face down on the floor. Good will is letting you leave, old man.”
Ferus shook his head in disbelief, sitting up from lean over the table and walking over to raise his chin at the woman. She raised her own in turn, standing up straight and pulling her frown into a grimace.
A spark ran down Mirkas arm as she reached to grab the collar of the Magistrates shirt.
Mav shifted in his seat and watched with a cautious glint to his eyes.
Ferus looked away, holding both his hands up palms out. He surrendered… He looked tough, but he knew better than to tangle with a woman like Mirka.
Mirka let him go, and he turned to walk out.
Mav, returning to picking at his nails, chimed before his guest crossed the threshold,
“I expect some decision by tonight. Accept your debt and the interest, or have your people make up for the missing taxes.”
Ferus whispered, tone full of defeat. “...yes, my Crown.”

You all feel the breaking of something as you go your separate ways. But not everything is forever. Not every story gets ground down to a bitter end. Most of you left standing, scattered across the world, to start telling new stories.
