Post-invasion, Mikey sneaks into Leo’s room and when asked by Leo what the problem was, Mikey just smiles and says since he’s awake and knew Leo would be too, he didn’t want either of them alone. Leo laughs and lets Mikey stick around, both of them clumped together on Leo’s bed, watching grainy compilations of old Lou Jitsu commercials on Leo’s phone.

Technically, Mikey didn’t lie. He just didn’t explain everything that led him to Leo’s room. He didn’t explain the nightmare of his arms burning up too bright, too fast, destroyed before Raph and Donnie have a chance to help. He didn’t explain how he woke up with a wail caught in his throat, phantom pain in his arms and chest alike chasing away any semblance of exhaustion. He didn’t explain how his mind made sure he knew, vividly, that if one thing went wrong with his portal, then he would have never seen Leo again.

He didn’t explain, and he didn’t have to. Leo knows his brothers better than he knows himself, and Mikey has always been easy to read. So it’s no trouble to let Mikey know that he’s still with them, that Leo is here and alive with everyone else. And when Mikey finally regains his exhaustion and falls asleep leaning against Leo, Leo simply maneuvers him into a more comfortable position and stays by his side.

He doesn’t move, doesn’t go to sleep - not that he could, anyway. He just mindlessly scrolls on his phone, the soft snores of his little brother filling the room. He stays in place, awake, because he wants to be sure that when Mikey wakes up again it’s to the immediate sight that Leo is alive and well and home.

And, if Leo’s bring honest, that’s a reminder not just for Mikey’s sake.

I did it. but what if I didn’t.#bros the worlds best mystic warrior in part because he can do real miracles #but miracles are only thought to be so because they’re near impossible feats #and with the knowledge that he is capable of opening timelines…I wonder if a part of Mikey fears falling into one where he failed #now - Mikey is not one to get wrapped up in insecurity he really isn’t #but for something so important and such a possible fear? at the very least I can see his subconscious manifesting a nightmare or two #most likely more - he’s a kid after all #they all are #ANYWAY love this duo lol #almost positive I wrote something similar to this wayyyyyy long ago but bleh I’ll write it again idc idc

#I wanted to draw something fluffeyyyyy and this came out #if I had to put a name on this drawing it would be ‘safe. home’ because that’s how he feels when he’s in his arms #ANYWAYS. I like to give Vincent sort of corpse like details #He’s always covered from chin to toe but under those clothes he doesn’t only have the scars from everything Hojo and Lucretia did to him #while dead and then after he was revived. I mentioned he was enhanced and to make a SOLDIER scar is…well not a simple feat but Vincent is #his own kind of enhanced. He’s not like SOLDIER. He had three demons and a god-like WEAPON sealed in him so yeah.#Anyways i suppose that the first things you would notice would be the red under his eyes that looks a bit purple the more nights he spends #awake. It would give him sort of an aerie look that makes him even prettier but then there’s his hands and feet. the nails would look #blue-ish and one of his arms is terribly mangled and sort of monstrous/dead looking i supposed it was cut off and it regenerated like that #because of Chaos and company. then there’s the scars from where Hojo and Lu tore him open like a corpse and looked around his brain #cuts lacerations deep wounds they would heal normal that is why often he decides to act as a human shield for AVALANCHE if he doesn’t have #time to conjure a SHIELD to Cid’s dismay. Often if the wound is life threatening a limit break will take over and he will heal good as #new or well as he is now ha.#vincent valentine #cid highwind #valenwind #ffvii #i just love them #Cid would often cling to him if Vincent doesn’t do that first #OHHH another hc! Cid snores Vincent doesn’t BUT his lungs are not normal now so you can hear his breathing when he sleeps deeply also his #throat was cut open at some point so his vocal chords were cut and his voice sounds a bit deeper than it did before

On the Line is a dialogue-only series of sometimes-strained daily phone conversations that go down between Pete and Porsche in the month after the coup. I love the new barriers/cracks in their friendship, the paths along which it mends/doesn’t, and this shifting context they’re in many ways failing to adjust to.

Excerpt:

“So I hear you moved Arm’s bugs to the cafeteria toilet. He had to listen to three people shit before he realized it wasn’t coming out of Vegas.” “...Kind of funny though, wasn’t it?” “Pfft, fair enough. I guess you take the laughs where you can find them.” “Yeah. Yeah, I guess you do.” “So if he’s not suffering from violent diarrhea, how is Vegas?” “Why do you still ask?” “I just want to hear how he’s doing. How you’re both doing.” “Porsche. on the subject of museums though: I'm a FIRM believer that the smithsonians are genuinely some the greatest cultural heritage americans possess and I believe SO fervently in them being free to the public and accessible to all because they ARE our nation's history and tell (and ideally deconstruct) our national myths and help contextualize the natural world around us and show us the heights of human ingenuity and art. also my favorite of all of them is the national museum of the american indian and I personally think if you can only go to one smithsonian museum it should be that one

#I've only been to DC once since the National Museum of African American History and Culture opened and I wasn't able to go bc the #timed tickets for the day were all sold out :( but I'm going to attempt to go later this year #idk I feel very passionately about the smithsonians... one of my favorite childhood memories is the family trip we took there #and I walked around the natural history museum with a notebook and wrote down all my favorite things I saw that day ahaha #and the air & space museum really is just incredible. my dad has Space Race Boomer Brain but I was always really interested #in how his mind was so CAPTURED by the space race and by space exploration and him seeing the first man on the moon #and that bled into me appreciating that museum a lot #but seriously the american indian museum is just a feat to behold. just incredible.#and — I'd argue — the MOST important museum to view if you wanted to truly grasp the weight of the stories our country tries to tell itself

Unironically think that each of the bros (+April) don’t actually get how impressive their feats really are so they just do what they do and on the off chance someone comments on those feats they all react like:

#rottmnt #tmnt #rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles #no but really #I love thinking that they’re actually way more prideful about the stuff that does not even hold a candle to their other feats #like yeah Mikey can open a hole in the space time continuum but that’s nothing have you TRIED his manicotti??#yeah Leo has outsmarted multiple incredibly intelligent and capable people AND knows how to rewire AI but eh did you hear his one liners?#donnie accidentally made regular animatronics sentient but that was an oopsie check out his super cool hammer instead #raph was able to fake his own death to save the entirety of New York and then be the one to bring about his brothers’ inner powers-#but forget about that did you know he can punch like a BOSS?#and April can survive and THRIVE against a demonic suit of armor alongside literal weapons of destruction as a regular human-#but her crane license is where it’s really at #(not to mention all the other secondary talents and skills these kids all just sorta have like - they are VERY CAPABLE)#honorable mentions in this regard go moments like #donnie ordering around an entire legion of woodland critters to create a woodsy tech paradise #or Leo being able to avoid an entire crowd’s blind spots in plain sight #and also being able to hold a pose without moving a millimeter while covered in paint and being transported no I’m NOT OVER THAT #Mikey casually being ridiculously strong and also knowledgeable enough about building to help Donnie make the puppy paradise for Todd #Raph literally led an entire group of hardened criminals like that entire episode was just #basically they’re all so capable????#and at the same time prone to wiping out at the most inopportune of moments #love them sm
