My fantasy world is a supercontinent, and each continent has a country with a variant of a fantasy creature, such as a dragon or unicorn. The magic system is large, magic crystals that stick out of the ground, and is the source of magic for the creatures of that world. Also, there’s a larger, longer continent north of the supercontinent that’s like the north pole. How could I make this all work?
I mean, I'm not really sure what you're asking? There's a LOT that goes into tectonic activity and land formation, so it's hard to parse what exactly you're asking for advice on. Sorry

Magpie Games is excited to bring you Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game, the officially licensed tabletop roleplaying game set in the world you know from Sunless Sea,Sunless Skies, Mask of the Rose and the original Fallen London browser game from Failbetter Games! With over a decade of roleplaying design and publishing expertise, Magpie Games has created an innovative system that brings the Neath to life in a tabletop roleplaying game.
Fallen London: The RPG includes setting information seeded with plot hooks for your game, numerous character types representing the variety of Londoners fans love from the browser and video games, a full set of conflicts and dynamic systems for departing on ventures across London, a sample venture to get you started on your journey, and much more. Delve into the Neath like never before in an immersive roleplaying experience that gives you the chance to change all of London…though the cost might be far greater than you ever imagined.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
London, 1899. Forty years ago, the city fell into a vast cavern beneath the Earth. Now Hell is close, immortality is cheap, and the Traitor Empress Victoria still reigns.
Devils and betentacled people walk the streets. The cloaked and mysterious Masters control the city’s commerce from a towering building covered in words of fire. Death, for most, has become more of an inconvenience than a finality. All the old rules that once bound the world have become flexible.
That’s an opportunity for someone like you. You crave something more than most think is possible. If it’s fame, then you want your name to live in the mind of everyone in London, forever. If it’s power, then you want the world itself to bend to your will. You want to destroy Death itself, or open the gates to the abode of the stars, or to restore London back to the surface. You want something so far out of reach, you have to change the rules or break them entirely just to have a chance at getting it.
You’re not going to be able to do all of that on your own. So you found others to share in your ambition. Together, you might be able to do the impossible. You might be able to fill the burning holes inside of you. Even if you have to burn everything else to do it.
Your concern is assembled and you are ready to act. What will become of London now? Time to find out.
Tumblr media
The setting of Fallen London is rich and well-developed, with countless stories hiding in its deepest corners. Here’s a rundown of what you need to know:
Victorian London is now located in a gigantic cavern, overarchingly called the Neath. To the east, the docks now lie on a brackish subterranean sea known as the Unterzee. There are other places and nations throughout the Neath – the seventy-seven kingdoms of the Presbyterate on the Elder Continent far to the south; the maritime state of the Khanate over the Zee; and to the west, Hell itself. Suffice to say, London is not alone.
There are many inconsistencies in the basic laws of reality in the Neath. Time and causality don’t always operate as expected, and geography can change without warning. The most well-known of these changes is to do with mortality: Death is no longer permanent for most humans. If they die, they will return to life after some time.
Many, many different kinds of people have become common in London. Rubbery Men with tentacled bodies and squid-shaped heads; Rattus Faber, intelligent and mechanically proficient rodents; Clay Men, folk of living stoneware; and even Devils, pleasantly engaging in the commerce of souls.
The city still maintains many of the old apparatuses of government, including Parliament, the Constables, and the Ministry of Public Decency. In truth, however, London is ruled by the Masters of the Bazaar –large hooded figures, each of whom claims domain over a different aspect of trade. All commerce must pass through the Bazaar now, and therefore is only legal under the auspices of the Masters.
London is sometimes called the Fifth City, even by those who don’t really know why. There was something in the Neath when London fell upon it – the Fourth City – and if London is the Fifth City…could a Sixth still be coming?
Tumblr media
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game is a brand new way to experience the setting of Fallen London. Create your own characters and play together, telling your own inventive stories of London in the Neath! The tabletop roleplaying game supports approximately 3-6 players, with one taking on the role of a gamemaster responsible for portraying the world and adjudicating the rules, and the rest taking on the role of their own individual character. The game is designed for ongoing stories, as the characters pursue their goals and face the consequences of their choices.
Tumblr media
In the TTRPG, each player creates their own character, together assembling a concern – a single group devoted to a grand ambition. Grand ambitions are the giant overarching goals of the concern, the kind of goal that no one of them could ever achieve entirely on their own. But while grand ambitions are grand, they are rarely good; the members of a concern are obsessed with achieving their ambitions for their own reasons. They might be trying to create a permanent door into the world of dreams, or they might be trying to travel to some hypothetical future. They might be trying to unseat the Masters, or they might be trying to become Masters themselves. Whatever they hope to achieve, it is a grand, difficult task, and they won’t be able to get there on their own.
The characters of a concern don’t have to be particularly friendly with one another; in point of fact, they often wind up as rivals with significant disagreements between them. But they all agree that the grand ambition of the concern is worth sacrificing nearly anything to achieve, and to that end they agree to work together.
They also have help from another source – the principal of the concern. This is a figure of some importance, a character with power and resources capable of supporting the concern in their pursuit of their grand ambition. The principal is a non-player character – an NPC – with the largest share of ownership in the concern. They don’t participate in the day-to-day operations of the concern, seeing as they’re far too busy for that. They might show up to make some demands at inopportune moments. But the other members of the concern need the principal. They need the principal’s money, or influence, or reputation, or knowledge…otherwise, they don’t stand much of a chance.
A concern can be anything from an artists’ collective to a Surface – goods importation consortium to a gang of scoundrels and thieves. So long as the group is all committed to the grand ambition for their own reasons, and they have their principal, then they have everything they need to take on the Neath.
Tumblr media
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game allows the concern to make its own choices about how to pursue its grand ambition. In particular, a concern always has a pool of opportunities and leads to work with. Opportunities represent clear, certain ways to get something the concern wants. An Infernal Smuggler is willing to sell the players a map of the old sewer tunnels buried beneath Spite – if the players will part with a crate of high-quality souls for the privilege. That’s an opportunity; the Smuggler isn’t lying about the offer! Give them the souls, and they will sell!
Leads represent facts about the world that the concern can capitalise on for resources and advantages… especially to fulfill their opportunities. Knowing that there’s a valuable shipment of jarred souls Hellbound from London might be a perfect lead to get the supply the concern needs for the merchant!
The concern as a whole debates and discusses what it wants to do, ultimately combining an opportunity and a lead to go forth on a venture – an attempt to capitalise on the lead, and to fulfill the opportunity! When the concern hatches their plan to raid the soul shipment and sell the stolen souls to the merchant for the map, they’re undertaking a venture, and now they have to deal with all the troubles of their intended thievery!
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game keeps the supply of leads and opportunities churning to ensure players always have lots of different options and ways to pursue their goals, while also reflecting how London isn’t static; if they take too long, some opportunities and leads will fall away!
Tumblr media
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game uses the Ædana System, a new game system built upon many lessons the team at Magpie Games have learned over the past decade of game design. Ædana is built for flexibility, with a simple central dice mechanism alongside more complex and intricate conflict systems to flesh out exciting moments.
You can read a lot more about the specifics of the system and how to run it in our Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game quickstart, here!
Tumblr media
At heart, Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game uses challenge rolls to resolve moments of uncertainty and tension. A challenge roll has a player pick up a bunch of six-sided dice:
Dice for an appropriate attribute, usually between 0 and 4
A skill die, if you have a Trained or better applicable skill
A die for an asset (resources or equipment), if you have something useful to the situation
A die for good circumstances that give you an advantage
Here’s an example of what assembling a challenge roll looks like:
Tumblr media
Flossie, a PC and a revolutionary proponent of rattish rights, is due to give a speech at an assembly for the advancement of rattus faber interests in London. She’s hoping to unite the crowd and draw them together…in part, to act as a distraction that keeps the constables’ attention away from their Concord Square headquarters, so the other members of Flossie’s concern can sneak in!
For the speech, Flossie’s player, Francis, turns to Flossie’s Persuasive attribute – just a 1, so Francis only takes 1 die. Then, she looks to Flossie’s skills. Expression is the skill for rallying and affecting large groups of people through art or speech, and fortunately Flossie’s Expression is Trained, giving her one more die. The situation is notably tilted in his favor; Flossie and her concern put in a lot of work to get all these rats to show up for a speech, and though the crowd is small in stature, they are predisposed to raucous behavior. The GM tells Francis that Flossie has favorable circumstances, and so Francis takes a third die. Flossie’s not really using any particular resource or piece of equipment to give her a leg up right now, though, so she doesn’t receive an extra die for that.
Francis picks up the pool of three dice and rolls!
Tumblr media
On any challenge roll, you’re looking for 5’s and 6’s, called hits.
No hits, and you get a defeat: The GM says what happens, and it won’t be good.
One hit, and you get an unstable result: you can make it a success, but only if you pay a cost or face a complication. Otherwise, it's a defeat.
Two hits, and you get a success: you get what you wanted in full!
Three or more hits, and you get a triumphant success: you get what you wanted and then some!
There’s more to explore in terms of the different advantages skills can give you, different kinds of resources and equipment you can pull from, and special abilities you might have that give you some edge…but on the whole, that’s it!
Well, except for one little piece of your Fallen London PCs…
Tumblr media
Every PC in Fallen London is obsessed with at least one thing: the grand ambition of the concern. But most of them have a few more obsessions that drive them to act, even when they shouldn’t. During play, your obsessions can help give you a boost when the dice don’t go your way, giving you a chance to turn a defeat into a success when you overcommit…but at the risk of worsening your obsession, deepening it further. If your obsession grows too big, then that’s it: your PC becomes unmoored, unconnected to their life and the people around them, consumed by their need. They become an NPC, and a dangerous one at that.
You can read more about obsessions in the Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game quickstart!
Tumblr media
The Ædana System uses conflicts to expand particularly intense moments of uncertainty. Conflicts play out a bit like minigames, with their own procedures designed to reflect the particulars of that scene. The quickstart includes conflicts for Investigation and Chases, but the core game will have many more conflicts!
Conflicts are designed to give game groups new options for surprising play, without making demands. Any moment that a conflict comes up could probably be resolved by a few simple challenge rolls instead! But a conflict really focuses and creates tension while producing surprising and deep results. A conflict can take your narrative in a direction you’d never expected!
Be sure to check out the conflicts in the Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game quickstart!
Tumblr media
When you sit down to start playing Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game, first you fill in some details of your concern as a group. You pick what you want your grand ambition to be, and the kind of concern you want to play, as well as your principal. Every PC has to be obsessed with the grand ambition, and they all have to be members of the concern, so it helps to know those pieces at the start!
Then, you go to work creating your PCs based on that starting information. Each PC is built by picking one option from six different categories:
Nature: What kind of person are you? A human? A Rattus Faber? A Rubbery Man?
Origin: What part of London or its environs do you hail from? Veilgarden? Spite? A tomb colony like Venderbight?
Profession: What skillset do you ply for your well-being? Are you a poet? An artisan? A detective? A killer? A mushroom tender?
Disposition: What is your approach to the world around you? Are you jovial? Cynical? Intense? Generous? Reserved?
Association: With whom do you spend your time? Bohemians? The Constabulary? Urchins? A criminal sort?
Twist: What in particular makes you stand out? Do you have an inappropriate pet? Have you lost your memories? Is there a tattoo in a certain fiery language inked upon your body?
Each option changes your character a bit. Perhaps it gives you some skills; perhaps you gain some resources or equipment; perhaps it provides an ability or a trait that tweak the rules for you. After you’ve made your choices, you have your own unique Londoner, ready to venture forth!
Character Attributes
Tumblr media
Skills
There are 12 base skills, ranging from Coercion to get your way through intimidation and force, to Expression to produce works of art or give speeches, to Occlusion for hiding your person and your intentions, to Scrutiny for closely examining things you can get your hands on. You can find more about the skills in the  Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game quickstart!
Menaces
As PCs suffer consequences, their Menaces rise. When a Menace rises too high, they’re going to have to face some serious trouble, likely forcing the concern to stop acting for a while and costing them opportunities and leads!
The menaces include:
Nightmares: the growing strain upon the mind
Scandal: the growing judgment of wider society
Suspicion: the growing attention and mistrust of the law
Wounds: the growing pain and damage upon the body
Obsessions
Every PC has a few obsessions with a rating between 1 and 8. The higher the rating, the more dice the obsession can provide when the PC gives into it…but if an obsession reaches 8, then the PC loses touch with themself and becomes a threat!

TRAFFIC LIGHT TRIO X READER STUDY DATE HEADCANONS [seperate + all together!]
Content: reader is gender neutral, could be interpreted as either romantic or platonic
Tumblr media
Headcanons under the cut!
RED SON:
☆ tries his best to keep you actually focused on the task at hand- doesn't let you goof off, but will allow consistent breaks
☆ but alas, once you've asked him a single question he'll derail the conversation twenty times over until he's completely off-topic and explaining something not even in your curriculum
☆ not that you mind- it's nice seeing him get passionate over topics he's into
☆ he tends to get absorbed into whatever he's working on, so study dates are a good way to get him to eat and drink water regularly alongside you
☆ I headcanon him as autistic, so parallel play is one of his favorite things! Enjoys being in your company while you each do your own seperate thing
☆ gets very easily frustrated if you're studying something not in his field of expertise [think molecular biology, literature, world geography] and you ask for his help only for him to not understand the question
☆ now it's your turn to try and keep him focused instead of going on a long-winded rant about how he's very smart and knowledgeable and this book is actually stupid and also he's-
MEI:
☆ you get a surprising amount of work done when you're with her!
☆ Mei's pretty good at balancing work and fun- she knows when to leave you be so you can focus on your studies, and when to strike up a conversation so you don't get too bored or stressed out
☆ she has a study date playlist specifically for the both of you that she updates frequently- she tries to keep her rock/metal songs out of it so it doesn't startle you and break your attention
☆ she's very horrible at explaining things- you ask her to help you with a question and although she understands the concept, she uses such convoluted metaphors and analogies that leave you more confused than before
☆ she likes holding your hand or sitting in your lap while you both work- just touching you in some way
☆ comes up with funny abbreviations for things you have to memorise
☆ gives you little pecks/kisses every once in a while, and near the end of your date when you're both burnt out, she'll give you a sleepy cuddle session while flipping through your flash cards
MK:
☆ oh boy
☆ where do I even start
☆ half of it is spent trying to wrangle MK into his desk, and the other half is spent trying to get him to open his books
☆ has a surprising amount of niche hyper-specific knowledge about various subjects, but if you ask him about the basics his mind'll blank
☆ tries his best to make the environment as comfortable for you as possible- utensils all set, cushions for your back, snacks and drinks on the table, reminders to stretch so your back doesn't hurt
☆ playing loud music tends to help him settle down and get some work done- you have to be holding his hand so he doesn't fidget around, though
☆ doodles on your notebooks/sticky-notes, usually small sketches of you or of himself giving you a thumbs up, flowers, hearts, little messages about how you're doing super well and you're super smart. It's really endearing and helps keep your morale up
☆ his attention span is very very low [I headcanon him as having ADHD], so he has to take multiple breaks in between. If you're still working while his mind is un-focused he'll braid your hair to keep his hands busy
RED SON + MEI + MK:
☆ yeah, you're not getting anything done today
☆ Mei and Mk together are a force to be reckoned with- and Red Son only adds fuel to the fire
☆ Mei and Mk'll make stupid jokes, Red Son'll tell them to shut up so he can focus, they'll make fun of him, he'll reply with a defensive and louder insult, and the cycle repeats
☆ if you ask a question, everyone'll be fighting to try and take a look at your book and help
☆ cue ensuing argument that lasts well into 20 minutes because all of them have a different answer
☆ upon googling it, you tell them that they're all wrong, actually
☆ even though you end up not doing anything, it's still a lot of fun- they're moreso just normal hangouts with the false advertisement of being productive
☆ the only time you get any work done with them is if it's the night before finals and you have to cram- the stress radiating off of you keeps their mouths shut
[Reminder that requests are open!]

You know what I think is my favourite thing about Dracula Daily having been such a hit on tumblr? (Other than everybody finally learning that what I've been saying all along about Lucy and Mina and Jonathan all being done dirty by adaptations is true and all falling in love with the characters, that is.) It's getting to see all the posts by people with different experiences or expertise or even just perspectives, and seeing what they take away from (and bring to) the novel. I have learned things about paprika, goitre, seafaring, the geography of Whitby, what an aqueduct actually looks like, Romanian folk dress, Victorian etiquette lessons, and the history of psychology that I would never have thought to look up but that have enriched my experience and understanding of this story in ways I didn't even realise it could be enriched.

The Gullah people are descendants of African slaves who live primarily on the Sea Islands and coastal regions of South Carolina, Georgia, and parts of Florida and North Carolina. Brought to the region from West Africa in the 18th century for their agricultural expertise, especially in rice cultivation, they developed a unique culture influenced by their African heritage and isolation from the mainland due to the region's geography.
Their language, also called Gullah, is a Creole blend of English and various West African languages. It serves as both a functional means of communication and a cultural link to their African roots. Gullah culture is renowned for its vibrant traditions, including storytelling, spiritual practices, cuisine, and folk arts like basket weaving, which have been preserved over generations.
The Gullah culinary tradition—characterized by ingredients like rice, seafood, and okra—is a foundation of Southern soul food. Additionally, Gullah music, spirituals, and dance have significantly influenced broader African American culture.
Today, the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, established by Congress, protects and promotes Gullah heritage. Despite pressures from land development, the Gullah people continue to celebrate and preserve their history, representing a profound connection between African and American cultures.

Hi where you around in the seventies to actually expertise these Computers first hand
Yeah so I was a tween/teen in the 70s and was definitely around. I was fascinated with computers thanks to Star Trek and Lost in Space etc, but computers were very hard to come by then, no one owned one and they were limited access.
I did get time on our PDP-8 in high school, and sometime around 79 or so built my own system from a kit and was like the only kid on the block with a computer actually in his house.
Only other time I remember using a computer (mainframe, not counting video arcade games here) was at the university of Connecticut, thanks to a neighbor who was a professor there.
He took me in to show me their IBM mainframe and told me the computer could answer any yes or no question. So I asked it is it Wednesday, our neighbor typed it on the terminal, and it immediately printed "yes" in glowing green phosphor. I was freaked out, asked if it was Tuesday, and it said "no". I asked all sorts of questions, about how many people were in the room, math, geography etc.
Yes, no, yes.. it kept getting them all right!
After becoming convinced the computer was sentient, our neighbor showed me the program he had wrote. It let you type in text, and if you started the sentence with a space, it answered "yes", if not, "no". Observers did not notice the space. Genius.
Wrote this same program many times over the years to amaze people. Less amazing now with AI on our doorstep, so sorry y'all can't go impress your friends with this one anymore.

School is keeping me from my goobers I promise I love them so much.
I wanted to redesign the hatchling architect from my fic a little bit.
I was contemplating how the architects would handle the idea of having “kids” because I wanted to explore it in the upcoming chapters I’m preparing. I’m going to yap for like 10 hours, likely just to myself but I need to yap so bad…
Biologically, I imagined they would have super expedited growth. The architects don’t seem like a society that would put up with children for 18+ years.
I have always thought that the Architects use energy from the environment to power their bodies. They are kinda like a walking chemical reaction, but that’s a whole other lore dump I have cooked up.
The hatchlings are very bad at doing this, especially from low energy substances, so they need an item brimming with react-able energy so they can easily interact with it, batteries and ion cubes being good examples of this. Adult architects can practically take energy from anything and use it more efficiently since they aren’t actively growing.
On their chest and back they have wispy projections (they aren’t spiky). These organs process raw chemical energy. They are external in hatchlings because, once again, the children suck at absorbing energy and need the quickest route possible to these structures. This does lead to extreme vulnerability in the hatchlings first couple of months since these organs are equivalent to a human heart. Luckily, they become internal over time as the hatchling grows.
Their horns act like dowsing rods, instinctively influencing them to stay near high power sources. The multiple prongs increase their detection range and serve a secondary purpose as defense if a hatchling were ever put in a dangerous situation. It is very unlikely this would ever happen, architects never leave a hatchling alone at any point in their first year of life.
The circumstances of an architects birth depends on where it is and the current state of the society. If the architect is born on the home world it will be with a brood of other hatchlings and raised with them for their entire conditioning process. If they are born on an external planet the circumstances are different and the hatchling is typically all alone.
Particularly important research colonies on external planets will build a variety of structures, including a nursery. They will typically house one in stasis architect fetus. The genetic material of this architect will be taken from the head researcher or leader of the colony and various other people of higher ranking in the group.
This hatchling is meant to function as an apprentice to the leader of the research mission. It is considered a high honor to be given a hatchling so directly, it indicates you have a high level of expertise in a particular field, whether that be in engineering, xenobiology, geography, etc. Once a planet is prepared for research it is expected that the head researcher releases the hatchling from their nursery and begins the process of conditioning immediately.
Architects produce their young through in vitro methods, extracting genetic material from themselves to use as gametes. They construct triangular “eggs” to place the fetus in, the shape simply being due to triangles being the strongest geometric shape. The “egg” is energetically controlled to provide the fetus with just enough energy to stay alive, but not enough to grow or be conscious, stasis essentially. In order to hatch a fetus an architect must provide some of their own energy to the facility’s control panel, in my fic Robin did this through her blood. A substantial amount of energy is not needed, it is only there to serve as a start signal to the facility to release a fetus.
The first few weeks of their lives are spent in one energy controlled nursery. The energy input to the room can be fluctuated to teach hatchlings how to take in energy in many environments, it is the first skill a hatchling is taught after walking. Hatchlings that don’t catch onto this skill quickly are culled. Culling occurs more often in large groups of hatchlings on the home world as each is not given direct attention at all times. Language is taught quickly after, taking a few days at most due to advanced programs.
The vessels of the hatchlings start off extremely simple, all looking identical in the first couple of weeks. External Inorganic components are sparse due to rapid growth and are added later to the hatchlings form.
The growth of a hatchling is extremely dependent on the role it’s being conditioned for. Architect’s are able to directly manipulate their form, not to the extent of a shapeshifter, but they can change structures such as their “hands,” horns, faceplate, legs, arms, and tail. It is more easily to manipulate these structures when an architect is young and rapidly growing, as their smaller vessels to not require an extreme amount of energy to morph.
An adult architect theoretically can manipulate their vessel, but it is considered crass and immature. It also takes much longer and much more energy to do.
Architects take different forms depending on their future jobs. AL-AN for example is a xenobiologist, he comes onto a new planet after it has already been scouted and colonized by other groups of architects, so he lacks any significant defensive structures on his vessel and instead had a more agile, small (by architect standards) vessel that focuses on controlling precise movements and working with advanced equipment such as inorganic limbs.
Extensive attention is given to an apprentice, it is extremely time consuming so they are rare and are almost always high ranking members of society right out of conditioning, expected to play a similar role to their teacher. Not all leaders accept the offer of an apprentice, as failing at this task is a huge stain on one’s reputation.
Large groups of hatchlings learn in a similar way, however, they are not all given the same amount of attention.
Whew…that was good to get off my chest. I’d be baffled if someone actually read all that word vomit. I fuckin love alien world building. This is all just stuff from my head that I tried to derive from the canon story.
Peace

now, i absolutely believe that it is both reasonable and not a dismissal of your concerns for anarchists to tell you they cannot individually provide you a plan for insulin production and distribution, because it depends entirely on your locale--who is in your community, what needs do they have and what skills do they have, what is the actual layout of your locale, what are the optimized transportation options for your available local resources and climate and geography, what local resources are available to create materials i.e. insulin, etc etc etc. plans for resource production & distribution are, fundamentally, not one-size-fits-all in an anarchist framework, and you cannot create those plans without some level of expertise in the relevant topics, which includes expertise in local geography, culture, and demographic makeup.
that said: i do think that, if you are a disabled anarchoprimitivist writing anprim theory through a disabled lens, it is your responsibility to write that theory in a way that encompasses the existence of people who need machines and medications in order to breathe, keep their hearts beating, digest food, and other regulatory body functions, as well as ADLs.
it is not your responsibility to lay out care plans for these people--again, this fundamentally cannot have a one-size-fits-all solution, because you do not have expertise in the needs and resources of every locale on the planet, and you should not be expected to. but your theory needs to be written in a way that explicitly acknowledges the existence of people who need colostomies, use feeding tubes, rely on CPAP machines, need solid organ transplants, people who have spina bifida or holoprosencephaly, et cetera and so on and so forth. this is because theory that does not explicitly deal with the existence of these people is not actually operating in a disability lens.
disability is an extremely broad umbrella. it is, of course, impossible to individually account for every disabled experience; again, that is not the responsibility of anyone writing theory, regardless of the theory in question. but theory written through a disabled lens needs to reckon with the multitude of disabled experiences, foundationally. it isn't a disabled lens if it isn't reckoning with the existence of those unable to breathe without external assistance, and examining what the theory itself looks like if they're centered in its implementation. a disabled lens centers disability, broadly; if an entire massive cohort of disability isn't ever once centered in your theory, even as a thought-experiment aside for a single paragraph, it's not actually engaging with disability as a broad political coalition, it's engaging with your disability or the disabilities of people you care about.

King beyond the wall jon snow or kitn jon snow?
King consort in the North Jon Snow. 😁
Lord of the Gifts Jon Snow. 😌
I am the biggest hater of the idea of King Beyond the Wall Jon Snow. 😑 The kid took an extended camping trip through the area as a 15-year-old and that's it. Are the free folk so hard up for leadership they'd need to elect a teenager from South of the Wall to help them resettle their own home country? Because he was nice to them while they were forced into exile as refugees? Do they take him home as a souvenir? Is he their new mascot? Does their time South suddenly convince the famously free folk of the benefits of noble bloodlines over actual experience and expertise? Because Jon knows the North southside of the Wall, he knows the area, the people, the history, the culture, the relationships, the geography, the social structure and the laws. But he is absolutely not qualified to be a leader North of the Wall, unless they suddenly adopt feudalism. What does he have to offer them in that position that an actual member of the free folk cannot also offer and better?
(Sorry for the rant. This theory is beyond confusing to me.)

Fanfiction Year in Review 2023
I fill this out every year. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me. Allows me to reflect on everything that I’ve written and kinda think about where I want to go next. And I like it better from the ask games because I don’t have to wait for asks to come in and can compare my answers from one year to the next. ^_^
1 List of fics completed this year in the order they were finished:
Displaced (Ladrien oneshot)
No Regrets (Ladynoir oneshot - smut)
You Don’t Have To Pretend With Me (Platonic Adrino oneshot)
Representation Reveal (S5 Adrinette oneshot)
Kisses in the Rain (S5 AU Love Square - technically multichapter, but it’s shorter than many of my one-shots)
Would Trust You With Everything (Adrino multichapter)
Just An Ordinary Girl (Marichat oneshot)
Love Remains (Ladynoir multichapter)
Spin the Bottle (OT4 with cour four - technically oneshot, but it’s longer than Kisses and has more kisses in it. Haha!)
2 Number of words written:
Written: 166,114 words
Published: 151,018 words (more than twice 2022’s number!! Go me!!)
Those numbers are incredibly close together because I haven’t been redrafting as much. Those numbers include six one shots, three completed multi chapters. And another four multi chapter WIPs saw at least one update.
And in another fun milestone! I broke a million words published on Ao3 just this last week!! (I've been writing fic since 2003 and everything I've ever written is on Ao3!)
3 Your most popular fic:
Not Part of the Plan - I suspect that this is mostly because being a teen pregnancy fic, it’s my most tropiest story this year. Haha!
4 Your personal fav:
Aftermath - This story has usurped Right Behind You as my favorite. I’ve been able to connect to the raw hurt and grief in this story, and there’s something very raw and human about it that others seem to be able to connect to as well. I think it’s some of my best work, and that is also thanks to an amazing beta in @ladyofthenoodle who has lent her expertise in more than one way in making this one more true to lived experience.
5 Your fav scene:
It’s so hard to pick a favorite!! I narrowed it down to my three favorites in no particular order.
The last scene in Ch 5 Love Remains - Chat Noir give amnesiac Ladybug a geography lesson from space. It’s got Whole New World vibes, and I just loved the imagery of it.
Ch 4 of Aftermath - I’m particularly proud of Marinette’s panic attack when Adrien tells her she doesn’t have to keep coming over. Like it feels like it comes out of nowhere, but it just totally makes sense. And how it manifests and how she soothes herself (it’s not healthy, but it’s so GOOD!)
Ch 7 of Would Trust You With Everything - The scene where Chat Noir tries to tell Nino who he is, but inevitably doesn’t. And how Nino reassures him through all that. This scene feels so raw, but so heartwarming in light of Adrien’s fears. And I don’t know - it’s beautiful to me.
6 A fic or scene that challenged you:
I really struggled with Right Behind You this year, though it wasn’t for lack of trying! I had started out the year hoping to go back to an update a month here and I only updated it three times throughout 2023.
This was incredibly frustrating because the initial drafts of scenes would come pretty easily, but I couldn’t seem to make them pop the way the earlier chapters did. The good news is I think I figured out what the issue was. Most of my writing this year has been speed writing. And a big part of that is just where I’ve been emotionally. I’m very very out of practice in editing and redrafting, which this story and Aftermath both definitely need.
I’ve only been able to edit Aftermath because I’ve had a ton of help. (Thanks Noodles!) Sadly, it’s harder to find betas for rarepairs, but I have succeeded! (Thanks@coffeebanana!)
7 A line of writing you’re proud of:
“She wanted to be there to see it. To see him.”
This line is way better in context, but I’ve made myself cry about three times with it. And I refuse to explain it because that would give its power away. Guess you’ll just have to go read Aftermath.
8 A comment that touched you:
I can never answer this question without mentioning several!!
Would Trust You With Everything - this story had a ton of enthusiastic followers - way more than rarepair work usually gets, and I wrote this story right after my life fell apart and all the commenters here made throwing this story together just that much more joyful during a time when I REALLY needed it. (I'm looking at you, @bittersweetresilience, @bbutterflies @flightfoot @coffeebanana and so many others that I don't know your tumblr name!!!) Not Part of the Plan Comments - I added sex ed lessons to the end of each chapter here because there’s so much about fertility and pregnancy that people don’t know if typical pregnancy fics are anything to go by, and this seemed to inspire so many people to share their pregnancy stories!!! And these have been so cool because I’ve learned that these stories just don’t often have an opportunity to be shared. And it’s neat that this story with its accompanying lessons could create a space for that!! Aftermath comments - lots of people who have really struggled with moderate to severe depression have apparently felt very seen by this fic. And that a story that is essentially about two characters who feel very alone and like no one can understand can help people feel LESS alone and MORE understood is simply amazing!! I love this story so much!! AHH!! Here's one from @neurovascular-entrapta that meant a lot to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9 Something that inspired your writing:
Grief and the need to feel things in a distant abstract-these-are-story-book-characters kind of way so I don’t have to feel my actual feelings as closely every moment of the day really kept me writing the whole year long.
10 Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc):
My writing has been really raw and messy this year, and I can’t keep tenses straight to save my life. But there’s something powerful about the rawness that I really like even as all the grammatical errors and the lack of effort on the technical side of most of my stories has driven me nuts.
I am proud of myself for being able to get back into the big projects in these last few months after not being able to face them from April to October. And I’ve started participating in a few writing events here and there again in addition to working on my own pet projects.
11 Do you have any writing goals for the next year?
Well, I wanted to finish Not Part of the Plan in 2023, which didn’t happen only barely! So hoping the last chapter and the epilogue make it out within the next month. Once that’s done I think I want to try and make Aftermath and Right Behind You my primary focus projects this year. And of course, I’m sure new plot bunnies and writing events will take over my brain on occasion. Last year, I said I wanted my writing to become a reliable mental health tool for me again, and I’m glad to say that it definitely was that for 2023. I hope I’m able to use my writing this year to continue my healing journey.
And maybe go and proofread all of the fics I finished in 2023 to fix all the inconsistent tense issues to prepare them for being bound eventually!
12 Anyone you would like to thank?
SO MANY PEOPLE!
@jennagrinsoverml for being one of my oldest fandom friends! For becoming a real life friend for all that we haven't actually met in person. For all the times you vented to me and listened and sent me pictures of your family and gushed over pictures of mine. I'm lucky to know you!
@ladyofthenoodle - for showing up in my DMs, For being a most insightful beta, for dragging me into a larger community over and over again, for listening to both my real struggles and my first world problems, for being my friend!!
@thelibraryloser - I don't know how to put this into words. But I very much look up to you. For your resilience through difficult times - you are role-model for how to handle this world with grace and kindness. Thank you for your stories!
@coffeebanana - for being so enthusiastic in the creation process before and after! When I have a story that is getting no attention one comment from you makes it so it doesn't matter. You give me all I need.
@bittersweetresilience and @wackus-bonkus-maximus for just being so kind and enthusiastic and supportive of any idea I happen to be talking about in any given moment. I guess for enabling me. Haha!
@blur0se and @mila-beedoodling for sharing your ideas and inspiring me to create new things!!
@asukiess, @chocoluckchipz, @sariahsue, @miabrown007 for creating so many beautiful things and for being kind and engaging in so many conversations!
And now, I'm really nervous that I'm forgetting someone because this is the first time where I feel like I've had more than three fandom friends. Haha! It's a good problem to have I suppose. In general, thank you to the miraculous community for helping me to survive this year. <3 <3 <3
Happy New Year Everyone!!
I invite anyone who wants to, to fill this out! (Or something similar because I think it can be modified for artwork pretty easily). But if you do, please tag me, so I can be a cheerleader for all you've accomplished this year!

The Kingstone(Artifact) Aura(Strong enchantment) CL18th Description:
This artifact looks like a finely-carved marble sphere with runes of gold inscribed in various languages reciting poems of kings and rulers which changes every day. The stone can be carried by anyone but only those who are worthy can use its powers. Those deemed unworthy will have the stone turned into a cursed artifact known as a Loadstone. However, should one work to find a suitable user, the stone will guide the holder toward the “Ideal King” via prophetic dreams and other means granting the power to use Divine Favor upon itself once per day. Once the stone finds the “Ideal King” it will bestow its powers upon him which includes the following: 1)The user is constantly under the effect of of the following spells: Divine Favor, Tongues and Heroism. 2)All effect of auras, inspiration and Charisma-based skills, abilities and spells double the area which they cover normally, their other effects remain unchanged. 3)Finally, if the user manages to become a ruling figure of a kingdom or to be accepted as a king, the stone allows to the user to project an illusory image of the kingdoms and it will automatically know if there are enemies in the land(such as an invading army). This effect functions as the spell Sand Table. 4)All the authority bonuses increases by +3, furthermore, the user can summon an extra Monstrous Cohort of the appropriate level that serves him once per day for 1 hour which can be divided in 1 minute increments at his request(In this case it’s a Young Silver Dragon). If the cohort is killed, it disappears and can be summoned again after 24h. The more the user becomes famous, the more it becomes closer to turn into the “Ideal King” the ruler of all nations and kingdoms whom will unite all the world under a single banner. It is unknown if this is true or just a myth, but if the holder of the stone wishes to pass the torch of rulership it must find a replacement before giving it away. Common people will come flocking under the holder of the Kingstone seeing him as the true king (Regardless, such situation must be discussed by the DM). Destruction: To destroy the Kingstone it must be buried in the ground of the material plane in a land where no kingdom/nation has been established for at least 100 years and it must stay there for 1000 years untouched. When said time has passed, the stone turns into dust. However, the gods will not stay idle and a new Kingstone is sure to reappear somewhere, somehow to find a new candidate “Ideal King”.
Challenge rating modifiers +1 advanced template, Improved stats, PC equipment.
Background: Very little is known about the one known as Cyberknife(if that is his real name). From what  little snippets of knowledge some attained, he was born in the Nether as all Piglins(Orcs) does. However, as it happens very rarely, the pig inhabitants of the red wastes will give birth to a hybrid: a Hal-feh(half-orc). Even more rarely, these hybrids becomes just better than the more run-of-the-mill gold-obsessed creatures. Of course, the leaders of the various clans will see these as “impure” and/or a danger for their leadership and will most likely try to systematically eliminate the threat before it becomes a real one. Cyberknife was one such case, but as he was about to be sacrificed in a ritual for their god, he succeeded at escaping by causing a Hoglin stampede across the bastion and escaping from an obsidian portal. Although, he did heard that if one of their kin does escape the dimension is turned into a zombie, he knew he was born DIFFERENT. As he left, he felt something change but he was fine; He found a vibrant world completely different from the lava-scarred caves he used to live. He walked the land, and although he had a rocky start(not being accepted by the inhabitants of this land) eventually things took a turn when he was accepted in a traveling circus where he discovered his talent for the bardic arts. He then enrolled into a bardic academy where he was the only one of his kind, not a good thing but he did not care for he had bigger plans in mind: He wanted to change the view the world had on the Nether and reestablish a peaceful relationships with the two dimensions. This was not an easy task but he was DETERMINED. After more years, he left the academy to look for fortune as an adventurer; and one day after a long expedition in an ancient tomb he found that stone: the Kingstone. After that day, it took him little to enroll as an advisor in a battlefield and even less to rise in the ranks and become a commander. With the glory of victory he entered the kingdom a champion, then, with the money that he attained, he founded a political campaign to promote the betterment of the kingdom. The opposition attempted to destroy him, but he was always able to thwart their efforts and won in a landslide. Cyberknife became the ruler of a nation at the young age of 22 and had no intention of stopping. After 10 years of turmoil he succeeded to quell the conflict between 3 more kingdoms and unite them under his banner. Now, from his massive palace he plans for the future… but what future?

Michael P. Hill at NewscastStudio:
Multiple sources have indicated to NewscastStudio that Allen Media Group will begin the process of “hubbing” weather forecasts for its local stations from the Atlanta facilities of its Weather Channel property. The group, which owns around 36 stations in mid-sized to small markets across the country, has already been quietly cutting a variety of jobs in recent days, including managers, anchors and forecasters. The next step, according to multiple insider sources who requested anonymity because the plans are not public yet, is to start producing weather segments for stations from The Weather Channel. Christina Burkhart, a forecaster at WJRT in Flint, Michigan, has also gone public with claims that her station’s parent company will cut “all local meteorologists company-wide.” She posted a message saying so as a public Facebook post.
NewscastStudio has reached out to a general information box for Allen Media Group for comment. The company does not list a public email address for media inquiries and its “press release” section of its corporate website is listed as “coming soon.” It’s not clear what the exact timeframe for these changes might be if they take place; there is an “on-camera meteorologist” listing on the Weather Channel’s careers page, but it’s not clear what specific role this might be for and it’s also possible the network might produce them using existing staffers. This isn’t the first time that a station group has attempted to “hub” its weather operations. Other groups, including Sinclair Media Group, have tried it in the past and some stations have also experimented with having a forecaster from a sister station handle forecasting segments on a day when no other local staffers are available due to illness, time off or staff shortages.
[...] Overall, cutting forecasters at every station would likely come in at about 100 jobs nationwide, assuming each property has at least two to three weather staffers.  Thanks to advances in remote production and work setups, the notion of producing local weather forecasts hundreds or thousands of miles a way is more feasible than ever. Computer systems already exist that allow anyone with a computer terminal and compatible software access near real-time maps, conditions and other data for any market in the U.S. Of course, creating a weather hub does mean that talent likely won’t be as familiar with local happenings, pronunciations, geography and weather patterns, though at least some of that knowledge could be transferred. It’s also likely that forecasters at the hub would be assigned to appear on the same group of stations as often as possible in order to build rapport with viewers.
Allen Media Group stations are eliminating weather departments by hubbing it out. This is a very bad sign, as lots of local area weather expertise has been jettisoned.
