I bought Exocolonist over the winter sale and they're my favourite character.

My first ending was destroying the Array lmao, Things were kinda crazy.

Teenage Exocolonist Kids: How would they be as Jedi?

Sol: Our nonbinary icon is THE Jedi, especially after Transcendence. Goes on a long multi-lifetime journey to learn to accept there are things they cannot change and tragedies they cannot avoid is PEAK Jedi story. Definetly Master/Councilor material

Tangent/Tang: Eh, Tangent would probably not be a very good Jedi when it comes to active duty. She struggles with empathy which is a core Jedi value, but I think Jedi training would help her come to terms with her identity in a very helpful way. Definitely a more "stays at the Temple and researches/debates" type Jedi than one who goes out on active field work.

Cal/Recalcitrance: My gentle, plant-loving pacifist husband is PRIME Jedi material! Definitely head of the AgriCorps and teaches the younglings about cool plants from across the Galaxy on his off days. Man is literally great for the role of a Jedi. He's a Master, but probably not on the Council as he has no patience for politics.

Nem/Anemone: Eh... I do not think Nem would be a very good Jedi. Too angry, too attached to the memories of her loved ones. Relaly I see her more as a nat-born soldier or a light-aligned Bounty Hunter who works with the Jedi, but doesn't really get them. Not to say she's bad, but if she were trained as a Jedi she'd probably Fall at some point. However, I do think she'd make her way back to the Light eventually, with help. But, I don't see my girl as a very good Jedi.

Dys/Dysthymia: Dys would be a good Jedi... but only in certain circumstances. Definitely a Jedi Shadow, but with how he fails to get along with others I can't see him doing traditional Jedi things. However, he does have an instinctive knowledge of letting go. But, I do see his inability to feel fear as a detriment. Jedi train to overcome their fear and at in spite of it, but since Dys can't feel fear, i feel he would be missing a key piece of Jedi education. Not good.

Marz/Marzipan: Marz, actually would be a GREAT Jedi! Granted, not a very conventional one, with her love of the spotlight and drive to succeed, I see her as the Jedi's Liason to the Senate, as one of the few of the Order with a head for Politics. This lady would have the Senate and the Media eating out of her hand, giving the Jedi a sterling reputation. While she struggles with passion in some cases, I think she could easily overcome it!

Tammy/Aspartame: Did someone say Creche MasteR? Because this lovely lady is a Creche-Master! She would not only be great at caring for the Younglings, she's treasure every moment of working with them and readying them for the journeys ahead. And is Definetly secretly a Master and a badass, she actively chooses not to kick people's asses. Peace and love, baby.

Vace/Olivaceous: Not a good Jedi. At all. Too proud, too full of ambition and vainglory to hack it as one of the Servants of the Republic. Probably a Mandalorian, honestly, and a neutrally aligned one. If he were to become a Jedi he would fall. Period. He's too much like Anakin, too focused on his own glory and power to understand the Jedi Way.

Nomi-Nomi/Nomination: I'm...honestly at a loss, here. I think Nomi would make a very... weird Jedi? But a good one, probably? They're definitely kind and compassionate enough to be a Jedi, but they struggle with attachment so... probably a mid-ranked Knight who's a Smash Hit with the Younglings. Probably the first Jedi Twitch Streamer.

Rex/Basorexia: Honestly? Rex'd be a good Jedi. No in-depth explanations here, just vibes. Definitely Jedi material

Hmm it’s been more than a month since I was regularly playing I Was a Teenage Exocolonist and I am just now appreciating the aro&ace characters being beacons of passion and empathy under a violent regime.

Were there any characters you were surprised to see nominated?

There was a Katniss Everdeen submission BEFORE there were any Primrose submissions which was wild to me. Sol from I Was A Teenage Exocolonist was also a pleasant surprise, shoutout to the singular IWATE fan that seems to be following me I'm blowing you a kiss. "Any character introduced in a prequel that doesn’t exist in the first installment". Lonan, who is my OC and not even the one I'm putting in the tournament. Ganondorf from The Wind Waker, not one I ever expected but whoever sent that was so right actually. The entire cast of Bad End Theater.

Pre-Redemption Round Nominations

Hi! Vi'm back again with tournament updates.

The (maybe first) Redemption Round will add 8 characters to Round 3. The characters competing in this Redemption Round will be the 32 who lost in Round 1, and everyone will get a chance to nominate who they think should continue on.

In addition to this, vi will be adding one additional character to the available choices for nomination. This character will be chosen from the characters who were submitted to the tournament but did not make it in.

Vi have already chosen nine of the characters you will get a chance to vote on, based on either evidence or strong support of the headcanon. Vi have not chosen the tenth one yet though. The poll below shows the characters vi did not choose for possible nominations. One of them will join the other characters to possibly be able to enter the nominations for the Redemption Round.

All that being said, here are the characters who have a chance to join the polls to decide which character will be added to nominations for the Redemption Round. Sorry if this is all confusing ha ha 😅

Competitor Reveal!

I had initially only wanted to include around 64 characters but with all the submissions I got I wanted to try to include as many as possible and as many different kinds of nonhumans as I could! But I also kept it to 3 characters max per media/franchise and also tried to include both popular and lesser known characters/media. I still ended up with a bigger bracket than I intended-- I'm very sorry if a character you nominated didn't make it in! But I hope you'll all still enjoy the competition and maybe even discover some new characters/media you haven't heard of before! Here is the list of the competitors! Creating the actual bracket and the graphics will take me longer so please be patient with me! so i've been writing a looooot of exocolonist fic that probably won't get published as like. longer stuff? but some of it is really fun so i wanted to throw it at least on here for some people's viewing pleasure wwwww

so have this dys+sol/nomi! a little bit of dys>sol but this is mostly just abt kids being stupid and also friends! please enjoy >:) mild spoilers for nomi's romance route

“Dys.”

Sol’s face is deathly serious, which means whatever this is about is going to be stupid as shit. He always looks delighted whenever he’s talking about the Gardeners or the Array -- seriousness is reserved solely for bullshit colony drama. “Dys, I’m going to ask you a question, and I need you to not laugh at me, okay?”

“Fine,” says Dys. In his heart he’s out on the Ridges, sitting with Sym under the stars as they talk about anything and everything. In reality, unfortunately, he’s here. “What.”

Sol whips out his holopalm. “Okay, so you saw Nomi’s post, right?” He’s whispering, leaning his head in, and despite himself the crush Dys has been trying to bury for years wiggles a little from under the dirt. “Do you think…. Did the other person in it look like me?”

Dys very heroically does not roll his eyes as Sol dumps a shovelful of dirt on Dys’s feelings himself. It’s not so hard to get over someone who's this obviously in love with someone else. Still, in the spirit of friendship and also getting Sol to leave faster, Dys dutifully opens his own holopalm up to squint at the picture again.

The photo Nomi took of the drawing isn’t great. The lightning's off and the angle’s weird, which means Dys can only make out two figures: clearly-not-Sol and maybe-Sol-maybe-not. “I dunno,” he says, but at Sol’s pleading look gives it another closer squint. “If it’s not you, who else would it be?”

“Rex,” says Sol, instantly, face falling a little. “And I get it, y’know? He’s nice and cool and they’ve been friends forever, but… maybe I have a chance anyways, right? I mean, they, y’know, danced with me on my birthday and everything…?”

In the most embarrassing display Dys has ever seen in his life, yeah. Both Sol and Nomi had seemed happy, though, grinning at each other as they did their weird noodley wiggles. Another shovel of dirt, there: if Sol expected him to do that Dys would just die instead. He gives the picture another squint. “I’d say it’s more like you than him.”

“Really?” Ugh. Dys needs more dirt; the smile Sol gives him is small and unsure and brilliant despite that, red dusting his cheeks. “That’s… that’s good. Okay. Yeah. Yeah! Alright, I’ll, um… I’ll talk to them about it, I guess? Thanks, Dys.”

Sol reaches out and squeezes his hand. Dys really needs more dirt. “Okay,” says Sol, and then stands up, punching his hands in the air. “Okay! I’m gonna… I’m gonna do it! Okay!”

Stars above. This is kind of embarrassing to watch, which is good for burying his feelings and bad for his mental health. “Good luck,” says Dys, who means it mostly earnestly but also a little because he’d like this whole thing to be over as soon as possible.

“Thanks!” says Sol, without looking over, still red as he looks down towards where Nomi’s no doubt standing with Rex. “I’ll see you later, Dys, thank you for the help!”

With that he’s off, striding back down into the colony with a determined look on his face. Cute, Dys thinks, but not in the way that hurts. It’s just sort of… nice. To think that Sol and Nomi might date. That they might make each other smile like they did last Quiet, two idiots together who he does, despite himself, care about.

Well… maybe it's a little lonely, too. Dys sighs, flips open his notebook again until he finds a blank page. Too bad he's not on expedition for another few days: he wants to be out there again, walking with Sym through the wilderness. For now, though, he'll have to content himself with memory. 

He clicks his pen and presses it to the paper. Nomi’s kind of nuts but he can agree about one thing: there's something sort of cathartic about drawing your feelings, and so alone on the hill, as below him Sol finds his happy ending, he contents himself with sketching Sym’s face.
