Teenage Exocolonist Kids: How would they be as Jedi?
Sol: Our nonbinary icon is THE Jedi, especially after Transcendence. Goes on a long multi-lifetime journey to learn to accept there are things they cannot change and tragedies they cannot avoid is PEAK Jedi story. Definetly Master/Councilor material
Tangent/Tang: Eh, Tangent would probably not be a very good Jedi when it comes to active duty. She struggles with empathy which is a core Jedi value, but I think Jedi training would help her come to terms with her identity in a very helpful way. Definitely a more "stays at the Temple and researches/debates" type Jedi than one who goes out on active field work.
Cal/Recalcitrance: My gentle, plant-loving pacifist husband is PRIME Jedi material! Definitely head of the AgriCorps and teaches the younglings about cool plants from across the Galaxy on his off days. Man is literally great for the role of a Jedi. He's a Master, but probably not on the Council as he has no patience for politics.
Nem/Anemone: Eh... I do not think Nem would be a very good Jedi. Too angry, too attached to the memories of her loved ones. Relaly I see her more as a nat-born soldier or a light-aligned Bounty Hunter who works with the Jedi, but doesn't really get them. Not to say she's bad, but if she were trained as a Jedi she'd probably Fall at some point. However, I do think she'd make her way back to the Light eventually, with help. But, I don't see my girl as a very good Jedi.
Dys/Dysthymia: Dys would be a good Jedi... but only in certain circumstances. Definitely a Jedi Shadow, but with how he fails to get along with others I can't see him doing traditional Jedi things. However, he does have an instinctive knowledge of letting go. But, I do see his inability to feel fear as a detriment. Jedi train to overcome their fear and at in spite of it, but since Dys can't feel fear, i feel he would be missing a key piece of Jedi education. Not good.
Marz/Marzipan: Marz, actually would be a GREAT Jedi! Granted, not a very conventional one, with her love of the spotlight and drive to succeed, I see her as the Jedi's Liason to the Senate, as one of the few of the Order with a head for Politics. This lady would have the Senate and the Media eating out of her hand, giving the Jedi a sterling reputation. While she struggles with passion in some cases, I think she could easily overcome it!
Tammy/Aspartame: Did someone say Creche MasteR? Because this lovely lady is a Creche-Master! She would not only be great at caring for the Younglings, she's treasure every moment of working with them and readying them for the journeys ahead. And is Definetly secretly a Master and a badass, she actively chooses not to kick people's asses. Peace and love, baby.
Vace/Olivaceous: Not a good Jedi. At all. Too proud, too full of ambition and vainglory to hack it as one of the Servants of the Republic. Probably a Mandalorian, honestly, and a neutrally aligned one. If he were to become a Jedi he would fall. Period. He's too much like Anakin, too focused on his own glory and power to understand the Jedi Way.
Nomi-Nomi/Nomination: I'm...honestly at a loss, here. I think Nomi would make a very... weird Jedi? But a good one, probably? They're definitely kind and compassionate enough to be a Jedi, but they struggle with attachment so... probably a mid-ranked Knight who's a Smash Hit with the Younglings. Probably the first Jedi Twitch Streamer.
Rex/Basorexia: Honestly? Rex'd be a good Jedi. No in-depth explanations here, just vibes. Definitely Jedi material

something something the talent show's required stat becoming persuasion at age 15 instead of creativity being a metaphor for how creativity is valued less as you grow older and bright ideas are only commended if you're convincing enough,, sometimes something Lum and the rest of the helios adults valuing their soldiers more and berating the idea of the arts and culture by using their authority to persuade everyone into thinking the war is all that matters, which gets transferred to their children and changes the way people think in regards to even things as silly as a talent show,,
#something like that#this applies to the bot triathlon vs xeno wrangling too#being tough enough to do a fun obstacle course as a kid#vs being a strong enough soldier to hurt the animals you're taught to perceive as dangerous#i was a teenage exocolonist#iwatex#iwatx

Ouh its got a little kick 😭😭
one of the only scenes that gets me ngl like i usually save Tonin but sometimes its just not in the cards and i get this and i start sobbing because what the HELL 😭😭??
can u imagine being Sol in this situation. you're what, 11?
you're eleven years old, and you've just sneaked out through the drain pipe during wet season. while exploring, you find Uncle Tonin being attacked by a Manticore— but you're powerless to do anything. you're not brave enough, you don't know how to fight– how could you fight off a /manticore/? you either watch helplessly or you try to get help– even if you try to get help he still dies anyways.
you're eleven years old pretending to be a dying man's daughter, or maybe just reassuring him he'll see his daughter soon. you watch him die crying out for her, bloody and mauled. a month later you're talking to that daughter, trying to comfort her, so you tell her all he wanted in his last moments was to be with her. you tell her everything he had ever done was for you. and she accepts it, forgives you for not saving him, because at least you were there— but you'll never forgive yourself. not when you can still hear him crying out for her while you watch the life leave his eyes. how could she forgive you for that? how?
Especially in Sol's situation, where they've probably seen it before. plenty of times. there's always going to be lives where you don't save everyone. can you imagine?

100 hours in ..... i still have like 5 endings left lol
i seriously love this game though. it has most of what i want in games. monthly schedule? check. stress factor? check. diverse cast of romanceable characters? check. deck building? check. tons of endings? plus slight variations? double check. beautiful art? 100%. i could go on. the name is silly and definitely warded me off a bit at the beginning, and it has its flaws–every game does– but its just so cool. genuinely one of my favorite games. played for 5 hours straight when i first got it. played for 26 hours (not straight) over one weekend. bought it on switch and then bought the soundtrack and artbook later on steam. i think i have a problem

finished my 3rd run btw here's some notable things:
- sol eventually realised they had a huge crush on anemone. they nicknamed them nemo, and she was like !! ive never heard that one before. ok. only you can call me that though.
- typical falls first/falls harder trope (sol falls first. nem falls harder.)
- sol does everything to win anemones affections. they Never forget her birthday (xeno eggs ALWAYS) and anemone is surprised every time. sol gets worried she gets busier and busier
- sol um. also saved the world and made peace on the alien planet and befriended the gardeners and also killed a faceless (idk how i pulled that one off), stopped the famine, saved literally everyone who could be saved.
- um. but sol got really distracted by their lesbianism. when they were really caving into their teenage years. they joined the defense forces to keep an eye on nem, even though they weren't the biggest fan of them
- sol HATES vace. no one hates vace the way sol hates vace.
- ALSO. nem was sol's secret admirer AND gave them a databand. nem recognised these feelings but pushed them away. sol kissed nem when they were young. but fucking. vace. gets in the way
- sol confronts nem about vace. um. but i didnt have high enough empathy. so uh. i save scummed until i had enough empathy. and THEN sol confronts nem. again . 😭.
- immediately after breaking them up. sol shoots their shot. which is crazy btw.
- other notable things in this run include how i had 3 pets (named after among us maps: Fungle III the hopeye, Polus the vriki and Mira the unisaur). I also saved the world and brought peace to the gardeners and the colony. Marz became the governer, even though we weren't very close as kids we got over it. Dys was my best friend and I convinced him to stay, and he became the link between Gardeners and Humans. He eventually becomes a gardener himself. Me and nem don't have kids, but that's ok, we have each other. Also i literally kill a Faceless. idk how i did that. it said it would be impossible. But uh. No. I killed it. and Kom still died. Shit's rough.
