“People are inherently terrible” no!!! Have you ever seen a child wait for their friend while they tie their shoelaces? Have you ever known someone who would bring hurt squirrels and rabbits and mice to the nearest vet just so it doesn’t suffer? Have you seen someone grieve? Have you ever read something that hit your heart like a freight train? Have you looked at the stars and felt an unexplainable joy? Have you ever baked bread? Have you shared a meal with a friend? Have you not seen it? All the love? All the good? I know it’s hard to see sometimes, I know there’s pain everywhere. But look, there’s a child helping another up after a hard fall. Look, there’s someone giving their umbrella to a stranger. Look, there’s someone admiring the spring flowers. Look, there’s good, there’s good, there’s good. Look!!!!

Something Something, Joker’s whole thing in DC is that he does irredeemable, awful bullshit, which he always minimizes by calling it a joke, regardless of how critical the damage is to people around him and never takes accountability for it, something something literally the plot always tells you he’s an absolute loser for that and aspiring to imitate that behavior makes you a loser, something something comedy should be an outlet for laughter and pain, not taking joy in hurting someone else

i love being horny about corruption. it’s like a skill tree for perversion
when i bought this insertable toy, it absolutely did not fit. i couldn’t even wrap my fingers around the widest part of it
but i love being stuffed full and stretched so it hurts
and today i got it to fit! this massive, grub shaped silicon, unyielding and agonizing, shoved into my cunt.
the best part? after a few forced orgasms, i then got the absolutely horror of pushing the damn thing out of me! stretching me wide again as i soaked along the sides of it.
corruption, progress, two sides of the same coin. i’m a very happy fuck toy today

iwaoi timeskip thoughts.
iwaizumi doesn’t want to make leaving anymore difficult for oikawa, and oikawa doesn’t want to make iwaizumi feel any worse about the fact that they’re going separate ways.
the distance between them is only growing more and more noticeable, but it’s not the sort of gap that’s miles long — it’s small, easily breachable with hardly a half step forward.
but it’s a gap nonetheless. a wall.
and neither of them will take that step forward.
iwaizumi knows that he might be able to convince oikawa to stay, to pursue his professional career in japan, where he’ll always be in reach. he’s thought about it before, what it’d be like if the two of them attended the same university, were able to play on the same team, get lunch together whenever they wanted — to just be with each other like they’ve always been.
oikawa knows iwaizumi won’t ask him to stay, even if he himself has practiced over and over again in his mind what he’d say to his childhood friend to convince him he has to go. he’s been set on this since the beginning. his next step has always been going abroad. for a long time they’ve both known that their paths would split — and isn’t it cruel to attempt to shake his resolve at the very last second?
but iwaizumi will never ask him to stay. and oikawa will never deny him that request.
iwaizumi won’t even walk him to the gate even if he agrees to drive him to the airport.
it’s a just in case measure to prevent any sort of opportunity for him to say something that might rattle his best friend.
minding the distance, acknowledging that gap.
oikawa won’t say anything unnecessary either. their goodbye is just as heartfelt as it needs to be. as simple as it needs to be.
for two people who felt comfortable enough to be their whole selves around each other their entire lives, they’re doing a lot of hiding from each other the moments before they’re set to part.
but why not play along, keep things light? they’ll still call. they’ll still text. it’s not like their friendship is disappearing, it’ll just be different. so there’s not even a need to say, I’ll miss you.
— It would complicate things.
It would be crossing a line. That minuscule amount of distance that they forbid themselves to cross. even if it’s true, the two of them can’t verbalize it, or it’ll become nothing more than a weight in the pit of their stomachs.
because it’s already difficult enough for oikawa to be going overseas. it’s already hard enough to accept that iwaizumi won’t be right by his side, calling for the ball before smashing it down. it’s already hard enough to think about what might change once they’re no longer within arm’s reach of one another.
what’s more.
this sort of goodbye — this lukewarm parting — is an acknowledgement of sorts.
of the strength it took for iwaizumi to let oikawa go as easily as possible.
of the herculean effort it took for iwaizumi to send his friend off with a too-hard pat on the back and a wry smile that was practiced countless times in front of a mirror to ensure that it won’t betray any hurt.
of the agony it must be for iwaizumi to acknowledge that his path alongside oikawa ended with their final match in high school
of the truth that iwaizumi doesn’t ask oikawa to stay because he’s afraid the other will say no without hesitation, without looking back
selfishly keeping the request to himself, minding the gap because he doesn’t want to cross it and find nothing on the other side
and on oikawa’s end, a struggle that’s similar but ultimately different.
that small part of him that wants to take iwaizumi with him, that wants to question why - why won’t you follow me?
a question that sometimes turns into why won’t you fight to stay by my side?
a question that becomes why won’t you fight for me?
conflicting feelings that would only turn to bitterness are ignored, swallowed down. the desire to start an argument just to hear iwaizumi say he cares — is denied with several difficulties.
it wouldn’t be right to do something like that, to him of all people.
furthermore.
the two of them are constants in each other’s lives to the end, friends who understand each other, who consistently do what’s best for each other — to the point where they become dishonest with each other.
it’s not a dramatic goodbye like in the movies, there’s nothing like a fuss at all. theirs is a simple parting lacking in heaviness. they don’t say more than what’s necessary. their gazes don’t linger and they don’t turn back to look at each other.
they deny themselves the satisfaction of that tearful goodbye because it’d be too difficult.
they deny themselves one another because right now they can’t have each other.
they let the other go because that’s what you’re supposed to do — as an adult, as a good friend, as someone in love who can’t say it because, they know better than anyone how crushing that feeling can be.
the two of them coming to taste the bitterest form of love in the form of a lukewarm goodbye.

vows and vengeance spoilers (not sure how people are tagging that yet, but be aware)
it feels very obvious that the ritual went as intended, right? this would not be the first time Solas pretended to be trustworthy in order to convince someone to do what he wanted, regardless of collateral. I find it VERY hard to believe that he would track down the Eye and know so much about its history and how it reacts to magic and not be prepared for what would happen
(and also I’m tired of the conceit being that his plans keep getting interrupted or something unexpected happens. it makes him seem incompetent lol)

A big part of the Haikyuu rewatch is watching the characters interact and worrying that I fandomized their relationships too much in my head, particularly with the Karasuno first years because Hinata and Kags keep Yamaguchi and Tsukishima at arm’s length for so long. But then I remember. Oh wait the squad is literally Hinata’s phone background by the end of the story. You don’t put a picture of just some dudes in your after school club as your phone background.

#ane discovers character development takes time who wouldve thought#personally I think wthe change happens when Yachi and Tsuki start tutoring them#It’s around the time that there’s a shift in their bickering so that it’s more. ‘familial’ isnt the term I’m looking for but like#the kind of razzing you can only do with someone you know#Tsukishima for example starts bringing up specific things they studied together to dunk on Kageyama not remembering any of it#And another subtle thing I noticed- cause again I started going like ? did I fandomize my entire perception of Tadashi too much?#cause for the first season he doesn’t interact with ANYONE but Tsuki. Like practically not at all except to brag about Tsuki to others#But I have a sneaking suspicion that this starts to change around the time that he starts getting on the court more often as a pinch server#Probably because it gives him more courage#Cause I remember him having a lot to say in the Shiratorizawa match#and I remember him getting along with Yachi! So like I’m keeping an eye out for those changes#haikyuu!!#Also my favorite part about rewatching Haikyuu is how the reveal of Kag’s backstory really does affect. Your entire perception of him#Like I know its probably cause he’s my fav but I always feel so frustrated when people assume the worst of him and so sad that even Oikawa-#who knew him back when he was a very happy and shy kid- doesn’t even question why his personality had such a sudden shift#but then I realize that the only reason I’m so aware of these changed is because Kageyama has ‘opened up to me’ as an audience member befor#Furudate waited hundreds off chapters to tell us that he’s been grieving a loved onesince a little before the very first scene of the manga#So that it would feel like we earned it#Idk how to explain it like when you meet someone who’s hurting it takes a lot of effort and patience for them to tell you why#in the same way bc we stuck by the story for so long and watching Kageyama learn to be more open#we got the privilege of learning why he was closed off in the same place#but Kageyama didnt give anyone at his old school the chance to stick around- not Kindaichi or Kunimi or anyone#So it makes total sense#kageyama tobio#hinata shouyou#yamaguchi tadashi#tsukishima kei#yachi hitoka#karasuno first years#my post

FFXIVWrite2024 Prompt 4 - Reticent
characters: Hien Rijin, Y'shtola Rhul rating: G | word count: 1216 words notes: Hien clears up some misconceptions about his relationship with Corisande. Slight spoilers for the Stormblood patches.
When Y’shtola arrived in Doma, Hien greeted her personally. On the advice of Corisande—a small aside in a letter sent ahead of Y’shtola’s arrival—he kept the meeting short and to the point, inquiring about her work and offering his assistance, as needed. He’d provided her with an apartment, if she chose to accept it, and access to his limited staff as she desired.
She’d accepted his hospitality with appreciation, and Hien had left the encounter with a slight swell of pride at having done well by the Scion so highly spoken of by the Warrior of Light. Over the course of her stay in Doma, while their relationship did not grow so warm as the one she seemed to share with Yugiri, he was happy to say they were rather amicable.
Or so he thought. But now, walking beside her on the Azim Steppe, he could feel a chill wafting in his direction.
Corisande had run slightly ahead to speak with Cirina, leaving Hien and Y’shtola alone together as they followed. Unsure of how long the moment of privacy would last, he cast about for some way of broaching the topic—and confirming his suspicions—and settled on, “Corisande has been a great help to the people of Doma. Our restoration efforts would not be half so far along without them.”
“I am sure they would be happy to know their efforts are making a difference,” Y’shtola said evenly, without looking in his direction.
“They spoke very highly of you, on our journey together,” Hien continued, trying his best to be nonchalant. “Quite effusively, if I might add.”
“So you have said.” The response was just short of terse, and he was certain she had started walking faster, though her lack of height gave him the advantage.
“You spoke as effusively of them when first we met.” Hien paused, and glanced at her before he spoke again. “I admit I didn’t quite grasp the depth of your friendship until the three of us began to work together.”
Her expression remained as smooth as a river-worn stone. It hardly surprised him. In the short time of their acquaintance, she had shown herself as a self-possessed woman, difficult to ruffle.
Y’shtola’s reply was short, in length and tone. “We are close.”
Her reticence amused him. Had he not spent the last few days with the both of them—had she not grown cool toward him with Corisande’s presence—he might have left her to her secrets. Instead, he said, “I didn’t think you were one for obscuring the truth. We both know that is quite an understatement.”
Even that was putting it lightly. He had borne witness for days now to the ways Corisande and Y’shtola gravitated toward each other. Always half-turned toward the other, as if a private world existed between the two of them. They seemed able to communicate full thoughts with only a look, despite the limits of Y’shtola’s vision, and they worked in perfect tandem together, often anticipating what the other would ask or say before they even spoke.
Perhaps that could be explained with a deep friendship, were it not for how often they seemed to forget he was there, providing him with an unobstructed view of the warmth in their gazes when they looked at each other—when they lingered long after the other had turned away.
Ahead of them, Corisande was deep in conversation with Cirina, oblivious to the exchange happening behind her. Hien leaned slightly into Y’shtola’s space, whispering conspiratorially, “Though I am not sure Corisande quite realizes it yet.”
“I am not obscuring anything,” Y’shtola stopped just short of snapping at him. “There is nothing to hide. Though you may be unable to engage in a conversation with Corisande without flirtation, she and I have no need to partake in such behavior.”
Hien fought a smile at having his suspicions proven correct—the occasional flirtation peppered in the easy back and forth of his conversations with Corisande was the cause of her distance. He did not think she would take kindly to even minimal gloating, so he kept the victory to himself, and said, “No need, perhaps, but the desire is there. You need not deny it—neither of you are as subtle as you believe.”
“Your conclusions are ill-informed,” Y’shtola said, a sharp edge in her voice. He was not quite sure, between the two of them, who it was meant to cut. She turned to him with narrow eyes. “If our familiarity has been as overt as you suggest, it is simply a result of the gratification of our reunion.”
“Besides,” she added as she turned away, seemingly as an afterthought, though Hien guessed it was more of a calculated risk than any carelessness on her part. “Corisande’s attention is held elsewhere.”
It did not take an academic of any caliber to puzzle that one out. He laughed, and she shot an irritated look in his direction. “If their attention is elsewhere, it is certainly not on me.”
Hien only flirted with Corisande because it made her laugh—she never responded in kind, and he never wished for her to do so. Any hope of romance between them had long diminished, almost before it had even begun. “Did she tell you of the kiss we shared on a hill not far from here?”
Y’shtola looked away again, her jaw set. “I know of it.”
An interestingly vague answer. She’d learned of it, but perhaps not from Corisande. “Then you should also know that it ended in disaster. And enough tears to drown any budding romance.”
“If their grief was enough to deter you,” Y’shtola said, and this time there was no mistaking the recipient of her ire, “perhaps the romance should not have been pursued so casually.”
“I will not argue that,” Hien said, with a twinge of shame in his chest. It had not been his proudest moment, though he was sure that the conversation that followed the short-lived attempt at romance had made way for the friendship they had now. “I knew very little of their past at the time. The feelings were new and not so deep rooted as—” yours “--those of others.”
Y’shtola studied him, her eyes narrowed. “You are becoming quite the diplomat.”
“I’m certainly learning,” Hien said, with a smile. “You should tell them, and spare the rest of us all the longing looks at each others’ backs.”
Y’shtola laughed quietly, and he was grateful that the conversation was ending on a pleasant note. The chill he had felt from her had evaporated.
He stepped forward, walking backwards so he could look at her as he spoke. “Or perhaps you need a challenge to motivate you? I can resume my efforts, if it will inspire you to speak up.”
Hien had barely enough time to dodge the stream of air she aimed at his head. She wore an impish smirk when he looked at her, and pushed her way past him with a bump of her shoulder. He watched her catch up with Cirina and Corisande, the latter of whom immediately looped her arm through Y’shtola’s as they walked.
Corisande looked over her shoulder at him, smiling brightly and gesturing for him to catch up. He jogged after them, falling into step next to Cirina with a smile.
