#Ever Crisis Spoilers

I've been thinking about Sephiroth's having a tendency in Ever Crisis First Soldier to put his hand on his chest and that it seems to have made it into Rebirth as something he does.

The revelation that he used to wear a locket with his mothers picture there really does change the gesture meaning. I think he's reaching for for that. The idea he's still reaching for her roughly a decade after losing the locket really breaks my heart.

EVER CRISIS / FIRST SOLDIER SPOILERS AHEAD

Hojo wasn't in control of Sephiroth's project until 1983-1984, after Gast left, just before Lucrecia tried to kill herself and wound up in the cave through means unexplained in canon.

We don't know when Hojo gave Sephiroth the photo, but he must have had it for years before that point, because he and Lucrecia clearly weren't really interacting outside of work after Sephiroth was born.

So Hojo kept this photo of his wife for years and then, at some point, gave it to their kid, told him honestly that it was a photo of his mother, and then lied to that kid's face about who she actually was.

Sephiroth shutting down baby rookie Angeal is so damn funny. He's not wrong, they do live different lives but Angeal wouldn't let that stop him. Sephiroth having a teenage ugh reaction to a rookie is HILARIOUS. It wasn't on my bingo card but holy shit if you think you can outbrat a friendship with Angeal, he's got a redhead you should meet.

Seriously though, I can't wait for Oct 16th.
