Atla episode reaction part 6: OKAY OKAY I watched episodes 8-13 today and omggg Zuko finally joins the gaang! I have so many thoughts rn OMG. Zuko standing up to ozai?? Zuko doing everything he could to earn the gaangs trust? Him doing impersonations of azula and iroh? Him going "why am I so bad at being good?"
This season is Zuko's season OMG. I love the dragon dancing episode? It was so cool!! I also like that toph was the first person to give Zuko a chance yknow? Defending him and stuff.
She understood the impact of inconsiderate family environment because she's been through the same. She had to run away from her parents aswell. I love the whole segment of katara going "we should give him a medal, the 'not as much of a jerk as you could've been' award 💀😭 hilarious
I love how aang is just a lil bro to Zuko almost immediately :( the seeds of their friendship was easily planted during season 1 when aang asked if they had met before they'd be friends.
ALSO KATARA CAN BLOODBEND. SHE CAN BLOODBEND YALL. HOLY FUCK.
Ugh only 8 more episodes :(( I'm sad the series is coming to an end so damn quickly, I'm still trying to watch it as slowly as possible to stall and extend my watch lol but today I crossed my episode limit (I have this unspoken rule that I should only watch 3/4 episodes a day but I watched 5 today). It just got way too interesting for me to NOT watch c'mon.

One of my fanfic pet peeves is when people try to write Orihime as a bad cook, which is to say, the food she makes is disgusting or makes people sick. I could pull out receipts from canon about how in truth she is just adventurous and enjoys off-beat combinations of things, but I really just want to talk about this absolutely genius creation from Bleach 330:
oh. my. god. I would eat the hell out of that.
You may be thinking, hmm, it's kind of like a dessert pizza, eh? Well. Maybe. Kind of. I feel obligated to point out that there is spicy mayonnaise mixed into the chocolate. But on the other hand, mayonnaise is a legit cake ingredient (it's just an egg/oil emulsion, right?) and chocolate tastes great with a bit of heat.
Chad and Ichigo are skeptical, but they are teenage boys and also WRONG.
Here's the real verdict:
Nozomi knows what's up, and so do Ichigo's sisters.

Nicholas Foster Close being an ordained universal life church minister despite also being a demon
scary going insane from the doodler and reverting back to being a preppy soccer teen
hero forcing normal to set her up with Taylor AND Link, rapidly osilating between her crush on either.
the bit where the characters get sent back into space everytime they anull the marriage, only allowing them to pop back to earth when they recognise in their heart that the marriage is real and true
Anthony fucking up by accidentally having hermie anull the marriage and getting him sent to space
the teens petitioning red bull to send them space suits by doing stunts they hope will go viral
the anulled marriage bit coming BACK when link uses it to get sent to space for his red bull stunt petition
Taylor ALMOST having a really poignant moment with his dad, both of them floating in the vaccum of space with Taylor having to push his dad further away to save him.
normal anticlimacticly banishing nick to hell, immediately removing the danger and stakes and saying "he has two weeks he'll figure it out 🤷🏼♀️"

#mp answers#i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏#if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is#an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it#the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues#to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane#if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on#from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless#there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second#saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later#even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like#it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!)#it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters#and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!!#it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others!#its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man#of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and#im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid#like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat#or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already#good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive#to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil#i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better#but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because#it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak#and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but#come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and#makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality#i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was#IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall#AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think#plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS#a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason#im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your#audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small#thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small#its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers#i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang#anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and#rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz#netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub#no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same#ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me#i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing#yapping

"Stan favors Mabel and Ford Dipper" WRONG!!!
#We see them interact less due to their personalities.#Mabel is attracted to Stan much quicker#due to her nature of getting on other's good sides and wanting to be friends#as well as outgoing.#While Dipper was still unsure about his feelings of this for all intents and purposes stranger#Mabel would have squeezed her way into his life already. Dipper is not good with people#and insecure#so he takes Stan's jabs seriously just like he does with Mabel. Mabel and Stan have a love language#that include a few insults that have no real feelings in it.#He wouldn't catch on and participate or (depending on when) tell him straight up he doesn't like it.#Dipper is in it for the mysteries and locks himself up while focusing on it. It's on his mind the entire show.#Ford wasn't meant to talk to the kids. He was even avoiding Dipper until an accident happened and he got caught up in the game of ddmd.#Not to mention that the episodes almost always contribute to the story#even filler ones. They may not progress the plot but they will reveal sides of characters or show them growing or changing.#Ford was in it so little that they needed to squeeze the most out of the time which led to little Mabel and him filler.#He didn't have any problems with Mabel unlike how Dipper had some problems with Stan so that wasn't an issue to address#they love each other ur honor#gravity falls#my ramblings

rewatching LoK, i'm being reminded how much I dislike the.... the brothers, mako and bolin, yanno? they're such underwhelming characters on basically every level. it'd almost be impressive if they weren't in every episode and didn't annoy me so much ugh
#bean talking into the void#also this show in general is very flawed lol#cool things about it but the choice to structure it more like a#prestige tv show#as in each season follows One Story#is... i wouldn't say it was a bad choice but i feel like you can see the growing pains#switching over from the episodic structure of ATLA#s1 while flawed is solid#it knows what it's trying to do even if it doesn't always stick the landing#season two feels like a season-long filler episode LMFAO#which is hilarious because a lot of world-building stuff happens#but tonally it's all over the place#serious political plots interspersed with the B Plot following Tenzin and his family#on vacation???#so fucking random#but anyway back to roasting the brothers#i find bolin just annoying in general his brand of comedy totally doesn't work for me#but at least he has like#a personality that's consistent#mako is sooooooo blah#the writers have no idea what to do with him and he comes across as having a strikingly boring personality#with no defining traits other than being wishy washy (and a boot licker)#it FEELS like he was meant to remind viewers of Zuko#at least in appearance if nothing else#another broody pretty boy to latch onto#but he has literally nothing interesting to actually get invested in#sure he's got his tragic backstory and he's the 'older brother who took care of his younger brother after their parents died' boo hoo#but that's all just exposition and it's barely shown in a way that feels illustrative or emotional in any way that matters#(other than him comforting bolin in s1 after he KISSES THE GIRL HE KNEW BOLIN HAD A CRUSH ON lmfaoooooo)#(what a good big brother lmfao)

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

chainsaw man makes you think its a sick action anime where a horny guy made of chainsaws murders a bunch of guys and gets a sorta fucked up found family along the way, but then you watch it and its actually about a 15 year old boy getting groomed and everybody hates everyone else but theyre mostly busy hating themselves and then everyone dies

#i just want to be able to talk about msq with good faith criticism again.#endwalker patch content breaking the trend of not being as good or better than base expansion was a fluke right?#we're gonna address the several elephants in the room of rushed plotlines that DT fumbled hard right?#we're gonna put in fun unique duties for u to play in instead of just making it all cutscenes right? cuz it's a game and therefore#an interactive medium right? u can even let me play as The Character Whose Name Summons Hellfire that's fine! that duty was fun!#and i love getting to see characters' unique strengths like that in gameplay!#some of my favorite story moments are from getting to FEEL the struggle of characters who aren't the wol! it's always impactful!#and we did not get enough this time.#all of her trials should have been interactive.#how cute would it have been to have to play as her trying to catch a llama? the spit gets on u and gives u heavy debuff.#how much fun to actually have to remember what ingredients went where and when they came in for a silly cooking mini game?#how RAD would that train scene have been if u had to play a duty to defend it with turrets and not just a cutscene!?#other expansions would have done this! this is why people were bored! half of it was low stakes non-interactive filler that didn't matter.#and the other half had no room to breathe and threw out insane shit with huge leaps in logic and felt contrived as hell bcs it was rushed.#just... be a cute beach episode but still be a fun game to play! or be the epic feelings jrpg but give shit time to marinate! pick! I was on board for the season 1 nostalgia circle jerk (ily Seven ❤❤❤), I could even overlook the Interesting "put him in a scifimagic flesh & blood android body that will have zero further consequences to either Picard's personal journey or the greater scientific reality of such an invention" choice, but season 2 skywalker family legacy "Picard's ancestor is so important that she needs a secret time agency body guard thatfornoreasonlooksliketheladyhehasawilltheywonttheywith" baloney is not doing it for me. The entire season so far coulda been a TNG Q/time travel shenanigans 2-parter. Best part is the toxic yuri between Borg Queen and doc "we've got bad Marvel one-liners at home" jurati, otherwise I'm sadly getting pretty bored with Picard.

ok so today i watched episode 393 of shippuden. and i find it SO FUNNY how they're doing this. left off with a Massive cliffhanger (oh no!!! theyre both gonna die!!!!) in order to do a fucking Twenty Episode Long filler arc. which actually im excited to watch it so i can see more of Fu, but it's still SO FUNNY to do it like that. like these episodes came out one per week. can u imagine what it mustve been like for anime-only fans who had to wait like Five Months before they saw more???? it'd be Agonizing!!!!!!! lmfao.
also tho, in rambling about this to the group chat, i also went looking thru all the episodes to the end of shippuden & noted whether they were filler/backstory or main plot episodes based on what it looked like on crunchyroll previews, and. results under the cut.
394-413 is filler arc

And then *427-458* is circumstantial filler (as in it's technically caused by the main arc, but has no actual relevance to it besides that) and/or more backstory.

And that's the end of the main story.
480-483 is backstory
484-488 is sasuke side story

of the last 107 episodes of naruto, only 17 are actually directly focused on the main plot. which really makes the inflated episode count make sense lmao. like i do love the added character context that filler and especially backstory episodes have, but also. *wow* it gets to be a Lot of lore dumping in these last episodes, it seems.
AND ALSO!!!! (major spoilers for the end ahead)(also copy-pasted from the server lol)
in 459 they introduce this alien princess who was ACTUALLY at fault for all of this (just trust me bro). 460-462 is backstory for her?? I guess?? 463 they're fighting her 470 they're prepping to seal her 474 they manage to seal her. Everything in between those is backstory and/or filler. WHICH IS TO SAY. This ~Secret Big Boss~ who is ACTUALLY at fault for everything (just trust me bro) is only actually around for 7 episodes, 3 of which were backstory?????
naruto sure is a fuckin show.
#speculation nation#fanny watches naruto#if any of these judgements arent actually correct Uhm sorry lol i was just lookin at the previews. havent watched them yet.#i Will be watching all of the backstory stuff and prooobably most of the filler? i'll have to see how important it actually feels.#i enjoy some filler episodes. especially filler arcs that give added screen time to otherwise ignored characters (like Fu!!!)#some filler episodes can be downright stupid. like why even watch it lol. so i tend to just kinda skim thru those.#get an idea of what it's doing but skip all the boring repetitive fighting and whatever. god i hate filler episode fights.#anyways it's actually wild that im 107 episodes from the end of naruto.#which that might sound like a lot for some but im technically Approximately 528 episodes in? combining shippuden with naruto manga canon#aka i havent watched past naruto episode 135 lol. maybe someday. but not for a while.#so yeah over the past half year ive watched a good deal of episodes. just 107 more!!!! it'll pass by before i know it.#especially when it gets to the very end of the main story... im so so so excited to finally experience it for myself...
