I just realized the Cats The Musical and Ride The Cyclone have a similar musical style:

starts with some establishing songs saying this is the world. This event is the catalyst of the show. This is who we are as a group.

very powerful being says that he'll pick one of the characters to have a special fate

the tragic character is somewhat ostracized from the rest of the group, and is continually treated as lesser, different, and is insulted subtly and not so subtly

a bunch of people(/cats) singing "I am" songs to try and convince the magic guy and their companions that they deserve to get this new chance at life

a very tragic character laments the loss of their former self in what is probably the biggest ballad of the musical. This starts to lead the others into thinking, "Oh dang the tragic character is kinda tragic. we should dial down our malice" the malice is not fully gone, as that character is still other-ed, but it isn't as extreme as the begining

a few more "I am" songs, but the underlying mood has shifted to more be contemplative and somber

the declination starts with a younger female character realizing that there was only ever one person who qualified to be reborn, the person who was always going to be picked by the magic guy, and has everyone relize this as well

musical ends somewhat bittersweet with the tragic chosen one moving on and the rest of the cast singing something close to a reprise of the opening, ending with a message like "such is life, se la vie, thats how it goes"

and you walk away a changed person, but not fully sure of what the lesson or moral was or if there even was one

(this format kinda applies to Six The Musical as well, but Six is a bit too different to be included in the category)
