Ok, high-speed events here... Jamie pops in to let Simon know her mother is still alive, which leads to Simon learning that it is Eric who actually has Alex's soul... and then we get this flashback where we learn that the Williams family was pretty fucked up, and it was Eric who killed their parents...

Just... be sure to ignore the fact that we met Simon's mother in the Vision and Wander book, or the fact that we were told Eric inherited the family business at 22 when his parents died when we see them dying when they are like 14 or whatever her... just... ignore all that I guess.

two headcanons about simon williams aka wonder man i don't think ive ever shared in an official manner but fuck you im doing it now. except under a cut because i talk about childhood illnesses and cancer down here. im very normal about this fictional comic man.

i think that a) simon was a premature birth and for a good few weeks his status was very uncertain and they didn't know if he would make it, and b) around age one he developed a brain tumour and again his condition and life was very uncertain. this not only meant that his mother especially but also his elder brother eric had a strong sense of needing to or wanting to protect simon, but also meant that eric's resentment towards him for taking up so much attention so early on was coloured by his guilt for feeling so bad towards a child with a severe illness.

i think this also plays into how physically weak and small simon was before he was affected by zemo's rays, where he never really gained a "proper" weight as a child due to being premature and having a brain tumour. why a tumour specifically? i have no idea it just came to me in a vision and now i am married to this because I think its interesting as something simon wouldn't really remember but would know in abstract terms and something that eric remembers extremely viscerally as a child not knowing if his younger brother was gonna make it and feeling both extremely protective and extremely resentful towards him, a paradox that continues to this day.
