Stiletto is always around with Discus and is barely a threat... and I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t remember Bombshell, one of the only members of the Death-Throws who actually has a 2 digit appearance count (Oddball is the other, though it isn’t nearly as many as Bombshell has.)

Who murdered Lawrence Rhyne?

Humor me with a thing, please?

In my current WIP, Farewell Vesperos, Lawrence Rhyne is a notorious figure in the capital city of Theris. Among a dozen other cruel-hearted acts, Rhyne deceived his way into the heart of the youngest son of the noble Vesperos family, Conrad, and married him in secret against the wishes of the rest of his family. It's believed he is responsible for the curse that soon befell the beloved family, for within six months of the marriage date, all the remaining members died, and Conrad's remains found beneath the trees beyond his ancestral home.

There was no proof, of course. But everyone suspects - even Owen Rosedown, the protagonist, has his suspicions from what little he knows of the case. So when the note arrives from Rhyne, wanting to confess everything, Owen didn't hesitate to visit Rhyne on the top floor of the Glint Hall Hotel. But though he did not delay, he is too late. Rhyne is dead when he gets there. And while Owen isn't sure how, he is sure it's murder.

So here's where you come in, without giving you any other clues, who do you think the killer is?

I’m sorry to everyone who’s in college - or high school - and taking finals right now, but I hope this helps. A lot of really cute Kate x R in this one!

Kate and (Y/n) enter the kitchen the next morning, Kate stumbling over herself sleepily.

“Morning,” Clint greets the two young women.

“Morning,” both (Y/n) and Kate reply in unison.

“Some coffee,” Clint says, gesturing to the coffee pot.

“Oh, thank god,” Kate replies, shuffling over to the pot, filling two mugs with coffee. Kate adds the correct amount of milk, cream, and sugar to (Y/n)’s mug, and then walks over to the countertop where (Y/n) is sitting.

Kate hands (Y/n) the mug, waiting excitedly to see if she’d gotten the coffee correct.

(Y/n) grins after her first sip and Kate bounces on the balls of her feet before sitting down on her own barstool, happy with her achievement.

“Okay,” Clint begins after taking a long sip from his own mug, “this morning, I’m gonna have a talk with our friend, Kazi. What I want you two to do is to track down all the trick arrows from our friends, the LARPers.”

Kate begins to laugh, but the expression on Clint’s face makes her falter. “Wait, what?”

“My tracer arrow stopped moving, and it’s over by an NYPD facility down by the bridge,” Clint replies. And now the LARPers, they’re mostly first responders, one’s a cop. See if they can get access to that NYPD facility.”

“LARPer friends,” Kate echoes.

“Yeah, they’re . . . They’re colorful,” Clint replies. “You’re gonna love ‘em.”

“You know, I’d like to think of them more as our arrows,” Kate says, and (Y/n) smiles slightly.

“Okay,” Clint says. “Go get our arrows.”

Kate shifts lightly, looking happy at the words and (Y/n) chuckles into her mug.

. . .

There’s a lot of indistinct chatter as (Y/n) and Kate walk their dogs down the sidewalk.

“Hey, I, uh . . . I don’t mean to interrupt,” Kate walks up the steps towards the LARPers, but she jumps back when, from a command, they lunge forward yelling enthusiastically. “Wow. You guys are . . .”

“Retreat!” a woman yells.

“Dedicated,” (Y/n) finishes, nudging Kate affectionately.

“Who are you?” another woman asks.

“Uh, Hawkeye sent us here on official Avengers business,” Kate replies. “I’m his partner - slash - best - friend, Kate.” Then, Kate catches sight of a younger LARPer checking out (Y/n), and she reaches over, pulling (Y/n) closer with an arm.

(Y/n) lets out a yelp of surprise, stumbling into Kate’s side. Then she straightens, blushing furiously.

“Anyway,” (Y/n) says hastily. “He said you could help us out.”

Kate nods, “One of you is a cop?”

“That’s me,” a woman replies, relaxing slightly, “Officer Wendy Conrad. Better as Els-Bath of Deepdale.”

Kate dips her head. “Officer. Basically, all we need is some casual, run-of-the-mill evidence tampering. Hawkeye’s trick arrows are in an NYPD facility near the Manhattan Bridge.”

“I can probably help you out,” Officer Conrad replies. If you make it worth my while.”

“Worth our while,” the man beside Conrad replies.

Kate glances over at the man before she exchanges a glance with (Y/n).

“Yeah, yeah, sure, totally,” Kate replies, rambling cutely - in (Y/n)’s expert opinion. “Whatever you want. All right.”

The other LARPers give Kate and (Y/n) fistbumps.

“All in?” Kate asks. “Okay. This is gonna be great. You guys are awesome, outfits, the . . . It’s just really awesome.

. . .

Clint steps back into Kate’s aunt’s apartment, pausing when he sees all the figures in the small living room / kitchen.

“There’s our guy,” a man - Grills - says, pulling a tray of cookies out of the oven.

“Hey,” Clint replies.

“Snickerdoodle? They’re still warm,” Grills offers.

“Okay,” Clint refuses the cookie.

“Hey, come on in,” Grills replies.

“Hey, Clint,” Kate says, standing and modeling a LARPer costume. “How’d your day go?”

“Hi,” the woman beside Kate says, while Clint is looking around for his niece. He doesn’t need to look around for long, because (Y/n) emerges from her and Kate’s bedroom, holding her phone out, saying goodbye to her mother.

“My, uh . . . My day’s been fine. How are you?” Clint asks, watching as (Y/n), who looked a lot calmer around Kate now, presses a kiss to the young archer’s cheek. Kate, in reply, grins happily, her pale cheeks darkening with a blush.

“Great, yeah. Better than yours, I’d say,” Kate replies, her blush still prominent.

“So did you, uh, get my gear?” Clint asks.

“Yeah, yeah,” Kate replies, turning around slightly at the motions of the woman behind her. “They’re on the way. They should be here any minute.” Kate grins.

“Yeah, relax,” (Y/n) replies, getting measured herself now.

“What?” Clint asks.

“Check that out,” Kate chuckles excitedly. “Not gonna lie, I look pretty good as a Viking,” Kate replies, and (Y/n) hums in agreement.

“You know,” the woman behind Kate says. “I made this myself.”

“No way!” Kate says excitedly, studying herself in the mirror.

“By hand,” the woman adds.

“Could I hire you to make my next one?” Kate asks.

“Oh, yeah, I would love to,” the woman replies.

“Hey,” Grills says, “wait a second. What if that’s our deal?” he asks.

“What deal?” Clint asks, his voice a growl as usual.

“We get you the arrows and info, and you get us materials for a new costume,” Grills says, smiling slightly at his own idea.

“Okay, how about enough materials to make your costumes, plus three more?” Kate asks. At the questioning looks from the LARPers, she elaborates, “I know a certain someone who needs a little help with his.”

“I’m in,” the female LARPer replies.

“Great!” (Y/n) grins. “Because I’ve been having some thoughts.” Her grin turns into a mischievous smile.

“Hey, Orval, you hear that?” Grills asks. “We gettin’ new costumes.”

“Uh, Kate, I asked you to simply retrieve my arrows, not stage a play,” Clint rumbles, standing up from his position on the couch he’d been sitting in.”

“Uh, we’re a guild,” the female LARPer replies and (Y/n)’s lips twist into an amused grin.

Clint’s phone buzzes, and he pulls it out, looking down at the screen. “Okay, I gotta go,” Clint says suddenly, looking up from his phone and sliding it into his pocket.

“We’ve got to go,” Kate replies, both she and (Y/n) turning to the Avenger. “We’re in this together, right?”

“You’re going to have to change,” Clint tells the younger women.

(Y/n) just grins, slapping her watch, her suit spreading over her body.

“Hawkeye,” Bombshell, another one of the LARPers, walks into the apartment. “Arrow Retrieval Mission complete,” she says, holding out the bag of arrows, thinking that the famous archer would just take the arrows from the bag.

“Oh, yes,” Clint replies, reaching out to take the whole bag. “Thank you so much. Appreciate it.”

“This is my bag,” Bombshell says, pulling the bag back towards her chest.

“O-okay,” Clint replies, confused.

“You didn’t bring your own bag?” Bombshell asks, tilting her head slightly.

“No, I mean, I -” Clint begins.

“My wife gave me this bag. It’s embroidered. It says ‘Bombshell’,” Bombshell replies.

“I . . . I can see that, that it’s very important to you,” Clint begins, but Kate interrupts him.

“He’ll get it back to you. Yeah, I’ll make sure of it,” Kate says.

(Y/n), Kate, and Clint are watching an apartment from a building on the opposite side of the street.

“You wanna tell me what we’re doing here?” Kate asks Clint.

“Something very important to me is pinging inside that apartment,” Clint replies. “It was stolen from a black market auction. I need it back.” (Y/n) pulls down her partial face mask and exchanges a look with Kate. “No lights, no movement.” Kate sighs. “This is our chance,” Clint pulls his binoculars away from his face.

“This would’ve been easier if we were on a higher rooftop,” Kate mutters.

“That’s what you think,” Clint replies.

“Yeah, exactly, that's why I said it,” Kate answers, and (Y/n) lets out a snort of laughter.

“Kate, you always want to prioritize a quicker entrance rather than an exit,” (Y/n) explains to the young archer.

Clint nods, “So when things go sideways, and they usually do, you have an exit strategy. That’s why I chose this spot. It’s got good sightlines for all my exits. Entry should be easy enough. Think it should take me about three and a half minutes to get in. So, if you see anything out here, just give me a signal, Kate. All right?” Clint asks, but when he goes to look at the young archer beside him, she’s gone.

(Y/n) looks around, and spots Kate.

“I’ve got her, Uncle Clint,” (Y/n) replies, and before the archer can reply, she slips off into the shadows.

They’ll be fine together, Clint thinks. As long as they don’t get distracted by each other and start making out. The archer wasn’t blind. He knew the two young women had chemistry and liked each other.

His full name is Daniel Cooper Stuart-Darling of Darling Coast, but he prefers to go by Danny.

He was born and raised in Darling Coast by his parents—Wendy Darling and Edward Stuart.

He is 19 years old by the time the events of the Pocket Watch/Rise of Red take place.

He has two older siblings—Jane (34) and William (26).

Danny also has 7 first cousins (Jeremiah, Wilma, Diana, Moria, Jamie, Wallace, and Dalton) and 5 second cousins (Millie, Conrad, Chains, Shelly, and Warpaint).

He is quite close to Tinkerbell's youngest son, Tinzen, and Hard-to-Hit's son, Hototo.

Danny is still close to Peter Pan but has lost his hero worship for him.

Danny is also a little shit who loves teasing his cousins, siblings, and friends about their crushes/partners (including Tiger Peony's relationship with Bobby Hood).

He has a vial of fairy dust on a necklace that was gifted to him by Peter when he was younger.

Danny likes climbing trees, fishing, sword-fighting, shooting things (usually with his slingshot), parkour, cartography, and various sports.

He also loves his dog, Nana ||, very much.

He still has his Peter Pan doll hidden somewhere in his room—not that he'll admit it.

Danny is a fun loving, playful, optimistic, somewhat snarky young man who loves messing with people. Though he rarely takes it too far.

Danny considers Red, Maddox, Chloe, and Hadie his bestfriends, even if Hadie drives him nuts sometimes.

He rough houses with Hadie the most out of his friends because of how different they are from one another.

His favorite colors are green and red.

He writes letters to people often, even if most people consider it old fashioned.

Danny can almost always be found wearing his letterman jacket or his jersey.

He can also be found wearing a beanie a good 40% of the time.

He spent a good portion of his childhood vacations in Neverland.

Danny once got in an argument with Peter over him thinking pirates were cool, which resulted in him getting banished for a week. This is part of the reason why he lost his hero worship for him.

Danny, like his brother before him, went to school in Auradon Prep.

His best subjects are P.E, Art, and History of Woodsmen and Pirates.

His worst subjects are cooking, Smiling, and Chemistry.

Danny does not have good impulse control.

He also does not take Hadie's claims of being evil seriously.

He is quite handy with a sword and a slingshot.

Out of the girls, Danny is the closest to Red because of their similar tastes in humor.

Out of the boys, he gets along best with Maddox because he finds him easier to get along with.

Danny is good at flying with pixie dust.

The last six books used the same narrator but this is the first book with a new narrator. Madison's voice sounds too young. Owen's voice sounds too young.

Carmen's voice sounds like the token Hispanic character. I still love her. And I'm glad she didn't give Conrad the time of day, even though the rest of LCPD seems to think she needs to get laid. Carmen is so out of Conrad's league.

Jay was kind of a boring villain. He did have some good lines during Maria's death scene but that was about it.

Madison saying Nate should carry a gun. Yes he saved Madison life. But I can't help thinking that Madison went about this all the wrong way. Giving Nate the ultimatum that she'd break up with him if he didn't carry a gun. Even though she eventually went back to him, it still didn't feel right. But that's me being under Nate Monroe's boot, I guess.

I wish we got hear from Jake more. Usually we get to see him more than just the parts where someone calls an ambulance.
