Zara Tindall’s best friend to be appointed as lady in waiting to the Princess Royal

NHS midwife Dolly Maude, who delivered Tindall child on bathroom floor, previously wore joky ‘lady in waiting’ badge on day at the races

She once turned up to the races with her best friend Zara Tindall wearing a playful badge bearing the words ‘Lady in Waiting’.

A spokesman for the royal was later forced to clarify: “It was a joke. Zara doesn’t have any sort of lady in waiting.”

But now Dolly Maude, an NHS nurse who helped to deliver Mrs Tindall’s third child, Lucas, on the bathroom floor at her Gatcombe Park home in 2021, has been well and truly welcomed into the royal fold.

Despite the high jinks at Cheltenham last January, the 51-year-old mother of four has been appointed as a lady in waiting to Mrs Tindall’s mother, the Princess Royal.

The Telegraph understands that Buckingham Palace will announce the appointment in the Court Circular on Feb 1, when Mrs Maude will be revealed as one of four newly appointed ladies in waiting to the King’s sister, to replace others who have retired.

A lady in waiting is an attendant to a female member of the Royal family who acts as a companion on royal engagements as well as helping with their day-to-day duties.

Mrs Maude was maid of honour when the Princess Royal’s daughter married Mike Tindall, in 2011, and helped to deliver Lucas when his birth did not quite go to plan.

Mr Tindall described the birth on his The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast, saying: “Fortunately Zara’s friend Dolly is, she’s actually more important than I am at making sure she’s been at all three of my children’s births. She was there and recognised that we wouldn’t have got to the hospital in time, so it was run into the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, towels down, brace brace brace!”

One of Mrs Maude’s friends said: “She’s such a great girl. For the Princess Royal, it’s a perfect fit because of their shared love of dogs and horses.

“She’s not only extremely close to Zara, she also gets on brilliantly with the Princess. She’s fiercely loyal and discreet. It’s a great match.”

Mrs Maude and her husband Chris have four children. Billy, 26, attended Swansea University; Nell, 24, studied at the Central School of Ballet; Ted, 17, is, like his mother, a keen skier. He was a page boy at the Tindall wedding and Mrs Tindall is his godmother. Their youngest daughter, Mary, 15, is studying for her GCSEs.

Mrs Maude is occasionally spotted looking after Mrs Tindall’s children Mia, who turns 10 this month, five-year-old Lena and Lucas, at equestrian events.

Three years ago it was revealed that the Princess Royal, who carries out the second highest number of royal engagements a year after the monarch, had 11 ladies in waiting, two of whom had worked for Her Royal Highness for more than 50 years, three for more than 40 years, and five for more than 30 years.

Traditionally, ladies in waiting would be the wives or daughters of peers but they can also be a cousin or close friend.

When Queen Elizabeth II died, it was announced that Queen Camilla would not have ladies in waiting but instead be attended by Queen’s “companions”, and that their role would be much more informal.

Yes it's from that podcast and Mads seems to get a bit drunk at the end there. It's so funny coz everytime he is on the pod he flirts quite a lot with Anders, getting him all nervous and flustered. In this podcast it's not too bad until the end where they talk about Anders' upcoming documentary about Mads, and it evolves to a talk about how Anders had seen him naked, and how it's bigger in real life.

Other highlights from the podcast include:

Skjelly getting a ruptured disc sitting on the toilet the morning just before worlds. Apparently reaching for the toilet paper and bending his spine in that direction caused the injury.

Equestrian Asgreen. Apparently he was a dressage rider before, but then he outgrew his pony. Didn't know that.

Mads joking that Pogi kept his helmet on for the Monaco charity race podium, coz he has an ugly haircut.

Talk about how Mads baited Mathieu to working with him at Gent Wevelgem even though the Roodhooft in the car wanted him to sit up and wait for Jasper.

can i ask you what do you think about using references? i always do my own sketch from a ref first, then put the ref underneath the sketch and modify it in places where it differs the most. if i only compare my sketch to the ref by putting them next to each other, i can't find all the worst mistakes... but it feels like cheating. is it cheating? sorry jskdkdjd

there's no such thing as cheating in art. i frequently use references like you describe as a way to learn to draw a new thing. for practice i use a lot of equestrian videos, i pause the video at a random spot and trace. then next time i pause i don't trace. then i try to draw from memory. sometimes (for personal art i don't post online) when I just want to paint something mindlessly because i can't listen to podcasts any other way, i trace to get a pose down asap and then colour. it's fun. i don't think anyone's obliged to do more if having fun is their goal

tracing over references should be treated as a study of the subject - you gotta learn what exactly you are drawing, why the clothing folds like that, how that joint flexes, what the shadows are doing. like actually think hard about it instead of just copying an outline. do it to gain insight. when i was seriously studying horses earlier this year i would pause my video and then trace over the animal but without the skin on top, drawing major muscle groups from a different reference (veterinary anatomy posters are your friend) onto the more dynamic pose from the video. this way i could figure out the anatomy from different perspectives (some of these studies are on my ko-fi with the traced ones clearly labelled). so yeah i think it's a fine way to learn and it's really rewarding when you can take the training wheels off and draw your subject without any help but a reference image in another tab (not on your canvas) you flick over to occasionally. if you can't see the mistakes in your sketch this way, it's not a bad thing it just means you need to study more with analytical purpose, gain insight, and you'll get it eventually there's no rush

The Santoro Family

Taylor Santoro was raised Catholic, but she wasn't particularly religious until her sophomore year at UBrite. Previously a star soccer player, she had to give up competitive sports after being diagnosed with a genetic heart condition. Her uncertainty and loneliness made her a prime target for FACTS, a conservative Catholic mission group.

It was through FACTS that Taylor met her future husband, Justin. She left school to marry him during her junior year, and began creating social media content as a way to make extra money for her student loan payments. Over the years, she's become surprisingly successful as a lifestyle vlogger and influencer.

Justin's descent into the throes of conservative Catholicism never sat quite right with Taylor, and with the support of friends, she worked up the courage to separate from him. But he isn't making the divorce proceedings easy.

Taylor lives in San Sequoia with her and Justin's five children: Gia, Max, Ambrose, Zelie, and Leo. A sixth baby is on the way.

The Newton Family

Claire Newton is an influencer whose podcast, Just Catholic Girl Things, is beginning to take off. But her main source of income is her father Richard, a major real estate developer in her hometown of Chestnut Ridge.

Claire first met Justin when he invited her to appear on his own podcast, Quotidianum. When he revealed that he wasn't allowed visitation with his kids due to lack of available beds, Claire invited him to use her house. She considers their relationship a purely platonic one...even if they share the same bed on occasion.

Claire often competes at the local equestrian center with her horse, Shiloh. Her sister Elise, a horse trainer and riding instructor, lives on a nearby ranch with their dad.

The Moreno Family

Kelly Moreno is a former FACTS missionary, and the person who first introduced Taylor to the organization. During her second year as a missionary, Kelly realized that she had serious doubts about her work and considered quitting. However, Justin intimidated her into finishing out her commitment. Kelly is still a practicing Catholic, but far more moderate than she was during her missionary days. She works as a third-grade teacher at St. Petronella's School.

Kelly's husband, Alan, considered going to law school, but ultimately chose a career in educational administration. He was the principal of St. Petronella's until he was fired by Fr. Crane.

Kelly and Alan live in Willow Creek with their four children: Jonah, Isaiah, Brielle, and Gemma.

The Ershad-Newbury Family

Ayla Newbury first met Taylor when their younger daughters became fast friends at the local rec center. Since then, she's grown close to both her and Kelly.

After working as a commercial artist for many years, Ayla went back to college to finish a degree in art education. She was the long-term substitute for Kelly's class during her maternity leave. Although she loved the job, she was unable to secure a permanent position when Fr. Crane prohibited the hire of non-Catholics.

Ayla attended a nondenominational church on holidays and special occasions as a child, but considers herself nonreligious. She is married to Zahid, an IT project manager, and they live in Copperdale with their daughters Poppy and Emily.

The Dalton Family

Will Dalton is a family law attorney and longtime friend of Alan's. The Morenos recommended him to Taylor, and he has been representing her throughout her divorce proceedings.

Will's wife, Katie, holds both a regular law degree and a licentiate in canon law (the law of the Catholic Church). She was briefly involved in FACTS during law school, but found the organization off-putting. She now works as a corporate attorney for Obscure Logistics, Justin's former employer.

Will and Katie live in San Myshuno with their sons Liam and Jackson.

Sorry folks, but it seems Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are coming back with more viewing content.

Just when we thought they’d bow out of the spotlight they say they hate so much, it was revealed that they will be launching not one, but two new shows for Netflix. The streaming giant has welcomed them back with open arms after they signed a $100 million deal with the company in 2020 to produce content for them, but failed to generate popular content. Apparently, we’re all about to be exposed to Megan Markle once again, according to Deadline.

Markle and Harry will infiltrate your televisions with a new cooking, gardening and lifestyle show in which Markle will star.

There’s no official word yet, but it seems this first show will be an extension of her American Riviera Orchard business, which will dabble in the same sort of content. I’m not sure anyone will really be gripped by watching Markle tackle domestic duties, but she seems to think there’s something special in all of this.

The second show, as you may have guessed, is all about Harry. His passion for the world of professional polo will be explored and fans will get a chance to see what it’s like behind the scenes and in the competitions for the equestrian sport.  Somehow, the belief is that millions of people will want to watch this with bated breath.

I’m not as certain that a success story will come of this.

Markle’s podcast was canceled after just one run because nobody cared what she had to say, and now, we’re trying this all again. (RELATED: Meghan Markle Sinks To Incredible New Lows In Bizarre Coffee Ad)

The pair were already labeled as “grifters” for their initial podcast failure, and this all sounds eerily similar.
