Isabella Hammad, from Enter Ghost
[Text ID: Haneen once compared Palestine to an exposed part of an electronic network, where someone has cut the rubber coating with a knife to show the wires and currents underneath. She probably didn't say that exactly, but that was the image she had brought into my mind. That this place revealed something about the whole world.]

I finally went to my local library after 8 yrs of shame and paid my fees (turns out actually I could have lent books the whole time cause my fees were under 20$) anyway it was because of u cause I wanted to read enter ghost, my mother found it in my bag and went "this sounds boring, good, but boring" and asked why I took it out. I said an author I liked reccomended it cause I didn't want to say one of my favourite fanfic authors reccomended it, but it's pretty much close to the same.
holy SHIT well i’m glad this could galvanize you to repair relations with your library!!! goodness and i hope you don’t find it boring, feel free to come back and let me know what you think!

After years away from her family's homeland, and reeling from a disastrous love affair, actress Sonia Nasir returns to Haifa to visit her older sister Haneen. While Haneen made a life here commuting to Tel Aviv to teach at the university, Sonia remained in London to focus on her acting career and now dissolute marriage. On her return, she finds her relationship to Palestine is fragile, both bone-deep and new.
When Sonia meets the charismatic and candid Mariam, a local director, she joins a production of Hamlet in the West Bank. Soon, Sonia is rehearsing Gertrude's lines in classical Arabic with a dedicated group of men who, in spite of competing egos and priorities, all want to bring Shakespeare to that side of the wall. As opening night draws closer and the warring intensifies, it becomes clear just how many obstacles stand before the troupe. Amidst it all, the life Sonia once knew starts to give way to the daunting, exhilarating possibility of finding a new self in her ancestral home.
Timely, thoughtful, and passionate, Isabella Hammad's highly anticipated second novel is an exquisite story of the connection to be found in family and shared resistance.

“The day-to-day struggle of an oppressed people had briefly ignited the interest of the world, until that interest was extinguished by the turnover of the next news cycle. I had little faith that people who were not here would remember those thousand-strong street prayers in a few months’ time.”
“Enter Ghost” — Isabella Hammad
5 ⭐️ read, highly recommended.

If you smack your boyfriend's ass...
Captain John Price will snap his head up, looking at you with a confused but intrigued expression, rubbing his behind in slight shock. "What's that for, luv?"
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick will throw back his head and laugh, rubbing his ass and smiling at you. "Been workin' out more - is it paying off?" He'll say, looking back at his own ass.
Simon "Ghost" Riley will let out a shocked grunt. "Oi, little wanker-" he'll quickly grab you by the waist before you can scramble away and give you a few sharp pats to your ass.
Johnny "Soap" Mactavish will chuckle mischievously, putting down whatever he'd be doing. "Right, askin' for it now, cheeky-" he'll say, chasing you into to the bedroom.
