3 Algae Tablet Myths Debunked!
Have you heard the buzz about algae tablets? More people are discovering the wellness benefits of algae and adding algae tablets to their daily routines. Algae tablets can be made with spirulina or chlorella—and in some cases, both. However, you may have read articles about algae or heard about algae tablets on your favorite podcasts, but you may still have questions.
Tumblr media
There are still a number of algae tablet “myths” out there. Having questions about spirulina and chlorella tablets is good. You can take these questions and research the answers so you can make informed decisions about what you put in your body. To help you uncover a few of these answers, here’s a look at a few common myths floating around out there—along with their realities. Myth: Algae Tablets Are Supplements Reality: Algae Tablets Are Whole-Food Tablets Algae tablets can sometimes be referred to as supplements; however, they are not. Supplements is a broad term that can cover many products. Generally speaking, supplements only do that—supplement a part of something larger. For instance, you may take a multivitamin. Multivitamins don’t offer whole nutrition. They only include a select number of vitamins and binding ingredients, and that's usually it. Algae tablets, like chlorella or spirulina tablets, can offer whole nutrition. Yes, spirulina and chlorella tablets are packed with vitamins and minerals, but you’ll also find a host of other nutrients, including protein, fiber, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and phytonutrients—including a high concentration of chlorophyll. In other words, algae is a whole food.
Tumblr media
Myth: Algae Can Contain Potential Toxins Reality: Cultivated Algae is Clean This is a myth that pops up from time to time. Algae can grow in many different environments. You can find algae like spirulina and chlorella growing in swamps, ponds, and lakes of all kinds. If these environments are polluted and the water contains potential toxins, these toxins can mix with the algae. That said, the algae used in algae tablets comes from clean and regulated water sources. Like many of the foods we eat, including organic vegetables, algae can be carefully cultivated. The water and algae can then be routinely tested. This is a highly involved and deeply scientific process to ensure the algae tablets you get are clean and pure. Myth: Algae Tablets Can Replace Your Veggies Reality: Yes, Algae Tablets Can Fill in for Veggies! This one isn’t so much a myth as it is a reality. However, people might hear that algae tablets can “fill in” for your veggies and think, “What? That can’t be right! Surely, this is a myth!” As odd as it might sound, it’s true. If your vegetable intake isn’t what it should be or you’re just not a fan of veggies, chlorella tablets can come to the rescue.
Tumblr media
It comes back to one very crucial detail: algae is a whole food. Because algae—and, by extension, algae tablets—is a whole food, it’s packed with nutritional value. Both spirulina and chlorella can rival, if not surpass, many common grocery store veggies in nutritional value. If you need more veggies in your diet, reach for the algae tablets! About ENERGYbits® Inc. What if you could optimize your nutrition in an effective and sustainable way? You can with ENERGYbits®. ENERGYbits® are “bits” of whole-food algae. Every bit—or algae tablet—is full of nutritional value. On top of that, algae is exceptionally sustainable. Few foods can match either the nutrition or the sustainability of algae! Catharine Arnston founded ENERGYbits® Inc. with the idea of creating an ultra-nourishing food people could rely on for improved health and wellness. She discovered spirulina and chlorella algae—two forms of algae that are alkaline, high in chlorophyll, and high in over 40 different nutrients each. With ENERGYbits® spirulina tablets and RECOVERYbits® chlorella tablets, along with other algae-based products, you incorporate the power of algae into your day. No Bake Energy Bites (Vegan)
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips
1/2 cup ground flaxseed meal
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Combine all ingredients together in a bowl (I recommend adding the chocolate chips last after the other ingredients are mostly blended together). To make the process easier, you can use a mixer. After blended, form the mix into balls. It could help to use an ice cream scooper or spoon.
Store in the freezer until set. You can keep the bites in the freezer or the refrigerator depending on what you prefer (I keep mine in the freezer).
Makes about 10 energy bites; the amount may vary depending on how large or small you make them.
Enjoy!!
(Recipe is from the Trader Joe’s Organic Flaxseed Meal Bag)

Sustainable Foods You Can Rely On for Optimized Nutrition
How easy would you say it is to add sustainable foods to your diet? If you said, “Very easy,” you’d be right! There are many foods that are remarkably sustainable. These are the kinds of foods that can be relatively easy to replenish. They don’t take a lot of resources (comparatively) to grow, harvest, and prepare for consumption. At the same time, sustainable foods can be highly nutritious and serve as a valuable part of your daily diet. From algae-based chlorella tablets to the leafiest of greens, here are a few sustainable foods you can easily add to your diet—if you haven’t already!
Tumblr media
Spirulina and Chlorella Let’s start with two sustainable foods you might not have considered as “sustainable.” These two foods are spirulina and chlorella. Both are forms of algae. Spirulina is a blue-green algae, and chlorella is a green algae. You can get both in the form of spirulina and chlorella supplements, though they aren’t supplements, but whole foods.
Tumblr media
They’re whole foods because they’re made of one ingredient and are so nutritious. You can find protein, fiber, phytonutrients, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in both. You can take spirulina tablets to feel more energized and alert. They can also help nourish the brain and heart. Chlorella tablets can support immune health and gut wellness—and so much more. You can eat either as you would any food. Both spirulina and chlorella are also easy to cultivate. You can find algae farms around the globe, including many in Southeast Asia, where algae has been cultivated for decades. They have it down to a literal science. It takes remarkably few resources to produce a significant amount of whole-food algae. Beans and Legumes This can include everything from black beans to chickpeas to lentils—with so many others in the mix. Beans and legumes are another source of protein and fiber, along with many other nutrients. However, for many people, it’s the protein that can make beans and legumes a valuable addition to their diets. Beans and legumes are relatively easy to grow and can feed a lot of people. As part of their growth process, many kinds of beans and legumes can leave the soil more nutrient-rich than before they were planted. This helps reduce the need for chemical fertilizers that may do more harm than good. Talk about sustainability! Dark Leafy Greens Dark leafy greens, besides being green, have a lot in common with algae tablets like chlorella and spirulina supplements. Leafy green veggies like broccoli, collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and watercress are packed with nutritional value. They are also great sources of fiber, which can be essential for heart and gut health.
Tumblr media
Dark leafy greens can also grow fast. It can take little time and effort to replenish these kinds of leafy greens after a harvest. Some people even “regenerate” their leafy greens at home. If you have a grocer that stocks live leafy greens, you can harvest at your leisure and with care and attention, it can continue to grow. About ENERGYbits® Inc.
