3 Algae Tablet Myths Debunked!
Have you heard the buzz about algae tablets? More people are discovering the wellness benefits of algae and adding algae tablets to their daily routines. Algae tablets can be made with spirulina or chlorella—and in some cases, both. However, you may have read articles about algae or heard about algae tablets on your favorite podcasts, but you may still have questions.
Tumblr media
There are still a number of algae tablet “myths” out there. Having questions about spirulina and chlorella tablets is good. You can take these questions and research the answers so you can make informed decisions about what you put in your body. To help you uncover a few of these answers, here’s a look at a few common myths floating around out there—along with their realities. Myth: Algae Tablets Are Supplements Reality: Algae Tablets Are Whole-Food Tablets Algae tablets can sometimes be referred to as supplements; however, they are not. Supplements is a broad term that can cover many products. Generally speaking, supplements only do that—supplement a part of something larger. For instance, you may take a multivitamin. Multivitamins don’t offer whole nutrition. They only include a select number of vitamins and binding ingredients, and that's usually it. Algae tablets, like chlorella or spirulina tablets, can offer whole nutrition. Yes, spirulina and chlorella tablets are packed with vitamins and minerals, but you’ll also find a host of other nutrients, including protein, fiber, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and phytonutrients—including a high concentration of chlorophyll. In other words, algae is a whole food.
Tumblr media
Myth: Algae Can Contain Potential Toxins Reality: Cultivated Algae is Clean This is a myth that pops up from time to time. Algae can grow in many different environments. You can find algae like spirulina and chlorella growing in swamps, ponds, and lakes of all kinds. If these environments are polluted and the water contains potential toxins, these toxins can mix with the algae. That said, the algae used in algae tablets comes from clean and regulated water sources. Like many of the foods we eat, including organic vegetables, algae can be carefully cultivated. The water and algae can then be routinely tested. This is a highly involved and deeply scientific process to ensure the algae tablets you get are clean and pure. Myth: Algae Tablets Can Replace Your Veggies Reality: Yes, Algae Tablets Can Fill in for Veggies! This one isn’t so much a myth as it is a reality. However, people might hear that algae tablets can “fill in” for your veggies and think, “What? That can’t be right! Surely, this is a myth!” As odd as it might sound, it’s true. If your vegetable intake isn’t what it should be or you’re just not a fan of veggies, chlorella tablets can come to the rescue.
Tumblr media
It comes back to one very crucial detail: algae is a whole food. Because algae—and, by extension, algae tablets—is a whole food, it’s packed with nutritional value. Both spirulina and chlorella can rival, if not surpass, many common grocery store veggies in nutritional value. If you need more veggies in your diet, reach for the algae tablets! About ENERGYbits® Inc. What if you could optimize your nutrition in an effective and sustainable way? You can with ENERGYbits®. ENERGYbits® are “bits” of whole-food algae. Every bit—or algae tablet—is full of nutritional value. On top of that, algae is exceptionally sustainable. Few foods can match either the nutrition or the sustainability of algae! Catharine Arnston founded ENERGYbits® Inc. with the idea of creating an ultra-nourishing food people could rely on for improved health and wellness. She discovered spirulina and chlorella algae—two forms of algae that are alkaline, high in chlorophyll, and high in over 40 different nutrients each. With ENERGYbits® spirulina tablets and RECOVERYbits® chlorella tablets, along with other algae-based products, you incorporate the power of algae into your day. Alien Fantasy-File 1: The "Egg" from the Dark Clouds
The dark and cloudy atmosphere of the planet loomed over the fortress of the monarch. Their dark red mane flowing behind them as they took a sip from their Algae-infused beverage. From the balcony, they had a clear view of the Volcanic landscape of their world. a landscape that the Ignusians have adapted to and called home for millennia. The Monarch was proud to say that very few species were tough enough to survive this unforgiving planet they called home.
They placed their cup down and ran their finger through their red-crusted skin. the very same that rendered them immune against the harsh fires of this planet. The monarch looked up at the dark clouds. They always wondered if there was anything beyond the clouds of the planet. Growing up, they always heard tales of being beyond their comprehension living beyond the clouds created by the Volcanos. They wondered if perhaps they could met them one day.
perhaps..... "Lord Fr' Nia! We've gotten some new reports!" The Monarch turned to face the knight that had just burst through the balcony door. "We've gotten some new reports regarding the recent sightings. Our search party has requested your presence!" The knight kneeled down. The Monarch put down their cup and gazed at the knight.  "Tell them i'll be down there shortly"
The Knight got up and saluted their monarch. The Monarch gazed at the sky as their pondered over what they heard from the knight. A fourth of their cycle had passed since that abnormality. A meteor had pierced the clouds and landed on one of the nearby mountains. naturally, there was an immediate investigation.
The monarch made their way through the hallways as these thoughts continued to linger. From what they had gathered from the rumors. it wasn't a meteor that had landed on those mountains. They didn't know how to describe it, as the monarch unfortunately hadn't gotten close enough to see it. But the search party and the local citizens described it as "Vaguely egg shaped". It's as if the sky had laid an egg. except the "Egg" also had what were clearly supposed to be windows.  The monarch opened the door and all the Ignusians in the room turned their attention to their highness. "Lord Fr' Nia! I'm glad you could make it." One of the knights said. his mane longer than the others and his skin looking much more crusty than his fellow knights. The spike on his limbs were sharp with a few having been broken, indicating years of experience and combat. "For what have i been summoned here?" The Monarch inquired. Curious about what information they were able to extract this time. "We have news, my lord. There's been life sighted near the Anomality!" The chancellor spoke up. The Monarch turned their attention to the chancellor, who proceeded to carefully place a few stone tablets on the table. all of them with paintings depicting figures. "According to the villagers, There's been a few more of those creatures sighted near the Callista Springs. And this time we have a better description of them."
The Callista Springs. A source of water located near the mountains where the Anomality crashed. But it was located quite a walk away from the mountains. The creatures ventured all the way over there?
"According to the villagers. the creatures seemed to have the same body shape as us. but they are a bit smaller and they seemed to be wearing this...strange white armor. If looked puffy, with tubes attached all over. "Anything else?"
"One of the villagers reportedly tried to tail the creature. But unfortunately, they lost sight of it pretty quickly." One of the knights replied. The Monarch was disappointed, but they understood why most villagers didn't want to go near the device. The search Party managed to get pretty close to the anomality, even being able to touch it. Those who did described it as "unnaturally cold." even the coldest region of their home didn't seem to compare.
With the anomality resembling a giant egg, The first thought of the Knights was to try and hatch the egg. But Ignusians idea of hatching it involved striking it until it broke. which proved to be a massive mistake.  After the first few strikes, A few parts of the Anomality seemed to hatch open. And a tubular "limb" stuck out and began pointing at them. Curiosity turned into horror as the Anomality began firing beams at the ones that had attacked it. Most of the Knights were able to get out alive, but those who got struck by the beams had very heavy dents in their armor. not unlike being struck by the Bovine-like wildlife of this planet.
Since then. Contact with the Anomality has been limited. With those who decide to go inspect it restricting their search to outside the crash site, fearing they would invoke the anomality's wrath. However, since that crash landing. there's been reports of weird creatures occasionally wandering around near the crash site with a bunch of weird devices. With those creatures having appeared shortly after the crash, the Ignusians believed the creatures came from the Anomality. the question is, What kind of creatures were they? To hear that one of them made their way to the Callista Springs. so close to the village....
"Sir Kohzunah! You're late!" The leader of the knights said. The Monarch looked away from the drawings and saw another knight enter the room. The knight took of his helmet. revealing his shorter mane. His skin looked just as crusty, yet noticeable more smooth than his fellow knights.
"I almost caught one sir."
"Excuse me?"
"I saw one near the springs again. It ran away and i was this close to catching it. But right as i grabbed its leg, it pointed this weird weapon at me. next thing i know, i feel something sting my arm and my entire body is shaking. It got away before i could get my bearings." The Knight confessed while bowing to his fellow knights. "You. You almost caught one. Hah! A young one like you. okay." Another night chuckled. "I'm serious!"
"ENOUGH!!!" The monarch shouted. gathering everyone's attention. They approached the knight. "You managed to get close to one?" "Yes, My lord! They look... they look exactly like these drawings. but their suits had these weird buttons and their armor was... surprisingly soft."
"My lord, he's a young and inexperienced Warrior in training." i really doubt-" The Monarch glared at the knight. The glare quickly silenced any complaints the knight had.
"Anything else?"
"They seemed to be containing the water from the springs before they saw me."
The Monarch began speculating again. They were taking the water? Were they are of how precious of a resource it was considered here? Did they drink the water for it's healing properties? did they need it for the Anomality? "I want our knights to patrol the area once more. Call in the aerial troops. See if you can figure out if there's a specific time they come to the springs. try to stay out of their sight!" "My lord?" "I want as much intel about these beings as possible. Understood?" The knights saluted. "Meeting adjourned!" The Monarch announced. The Knights got to work while the Monarch returned to the balcony. They looked in the direction of the crash site. What were these creatures? were they sent here by the sky? could they talk? were they savages? they were closing in on their town, but they only seemed to attack when their knights got to close to the anomality. They continued to wonder if talking to this new species was possible. Maybe they could invite them to the castle. Chat over some Geothermal Cuisine and maybe even engage in a lava bath with each other. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALMOST GOT CAUGHT?!?!" "Jake, Please calm down."
"DON'T FUCKING TELL ME TO CALM DOWN, ED! YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PROTOCOL WHEN IT COMES TO MEETING NEW SPECIES!"
"Sir, i understand your frustration. but please calm down." One of the astronauts said. Eddy took off his helmet and took a deep breath. it felt good to be back in the insulated confines of the ship. Even the hottest days on earth couldn't have prepared him how hot this planet could be. He looked at the woman, her uniform had "Marley" written on it. "What were you doing there anyway?" Marley asked. "Remember the water spring we came across a month ago?" "Oh my god.." Jake groaned. "Hey! You said it yourself. our water supply was running low!" Ed retorted.
"I told you we would continue looking!"
"Continue looking where?!" I'm pretty sure we've looked through every corner of this mountain that isn't populated or surrounded by lava!"
"EVERYONE CALM DOWN!" Marley shouted. Silence kicked in for a minute. a silence that was then promptly broken by another member.
"Can we really not talk to them?" "Craig, we've been over this. we can't speak their language. and even if we did. Look at how much Lava the rest of the land is surrounded by. Not to mention the temperature. i swear, i almost had a heart attack when our drones reported back. If we go near that place, we're going to be cooked. and that's if those aliens don't attack us on sight like they did with our ship." Jake said.
"So what now then?" Marley asked. "Our S.O.S. signal has reached the nearest Rescue HQ and they said they should be here within a few more days. As long as we continue to ration our supplies more sparingly, we should be good." One of the members said. "Yeah, and with the Water eddy brought back, we should last a little longer." another member said. "Look. for now. just stay near the ship. keep exploration restricted to near the ship. And don't take after Ed's example." Jake side eyed his colleague.
"Oh, c'mon now! the keyword is "ALMOST". They didn't actually catch me. i tasered the guy right as he grabbed my leg." Ed retorted. "And you're sure he didn't follow you here?" Marley asked. "Positive! the thing was twitching on the floor like an anime character while i was running, we should be safe." "And you're sure you didn't kill it?" Craig asked. "Killed it? with a fucking taser? get real, man." "Hey, you never know! We're talking about an alien species." "An alien species that can swim in lava, craig! I'd be ridiculous if...." Jake sighed as he chugged down some of the water his partner had brought back. The Rescue force could not come soon enough.

Day 13: Ohio Grassman
(This one did take a bit of brainstorming. It was only once I read the thing about them making shelters did I decide on a wilderness survival angle. Trust me, this is way better than the original plan (weed joke)) I know, it is a little strange that an immortal creature subsiding purely on belief would consider himself a survival expert. But living out here has given me plenty of experience in wilderness training. Heck, it's why I moved outta hell in the first place. I used to read and watch as much survival stuff as I could. That nit and grit to survive and scrounge was so enthralling to me I decided to live that life! Didn’t expect to turn into an ape because of it but hey, the fur does wonders for collecting edible algae. Yes, exactly like a sloth. So then, here is what I recommend when it comes to surviving out here in the forest if you are a human. Step one, find water. If you plan well like me, you’ll hopefully have some purification tablets beforehand but if not find some dry firewood before going near any river in order to boil the water. I still have a soulfire so lighting a fire is easy for me, but for yourself I suggest digging for a piece of sharp flint in order to create enough sparks. As for food, always go for bugs. If you aren’t sure what plants are edible, bugs are usually your safest bet. High in protein, insects are nature’s perfect energy boost. As for shelter, I think you all know what I would recommend. I pick grass mainly because it's lightweight but tough. Why do you think people wove baskets outta the stuff? If you can make a tight enough weave, you can keep the elements out of your shelter. Not to mention how easy it is to find grass or other such elements in a forest. As for getting out, always walk along water. Be it a lake, river, stream, whatever. Those tend to lead towards civilization. Those are the main three things to focus on. Trust me, these tips have helped me save a lot of 411 cases. Normally demons tend to cause those, but I haven’t felt that way for a long time. Trust me, a lot more people would be lost in those woods if it weren’t for my help. Although I must admit, I have been a little angry in the past about human encroachment on my territory. But like the rest of nature, I’ve had to get used to humans boxing us in more and more. That’s just the life I’ve chosen to lead and I’m perfectly happy with it.

3 Swimming Pool Fittings You Didn’t Know You Needed - PoolWareHouse
Tumblr media
Maybe you are set to build your own swimming pool, incentivised by the convenience it would bring — especially if you love keeping fit or simply tapping into the mental health benefits of swimming.
What if your home already has an onsite swimming pool? If it was originally installed a while ago, you might want to do more than just pick up such swimming pool supplies as nets and brushes.
After all, by now, some components of the pool might have started disintegrating — in which case, you could consider pouring some money into a few upgrades or a remodelling project.
Whether you will be building a swimming pool afresh or improving an existing one, you should be careful to choose the right fittings. Of course, it isn’t always easy to discern the “right” fittings, but here are a few important ones that you might easily overlook.
Pool safety fencing
You might want (or already have) an outdoor swimming pool, but here’s a question worth answering first: do you have any kids or pets?
If there isn’t any fencing around the pool when there aren’t any adults keeping watch over it, your child or four-legged chum could wander into the area and accidentally slip into the pool, potentially drowning as a result.
We offer pool safety fencing that you will be able to set up with ease. This will enable you to keep your little ones (whether of the human or animal variety) safe if curiosity does get the better of them.
Immerstar pool alarm
Unfortunately, even pool safety fencing might not always be enough to prevent someone from falling into the pool. So, if it does happen, you would want to be alerted in some fashion — such as with the powerful 100db siren sound the Immerstar pool alarm is able to produce.
The alarm is programmed to do this upon its built-in sensor detecting a body falling into the pool. And in case you are wondering, no, you don’t have to fear that a mere bit of windy weather might set the alarm off. To secure this unit into place, fasten it to the pool edge.
Chlorine auto feeder
By regularly replenishing the amount of chlorine in your pool water, you can enable it to quickly kill troublesome germs and bacteria. However, given what a chore it could be for you to keep manually adding that chlorine, it would obviously be useful to at least somewhat automate the process.
Hearteningly, you can do exactly that with a chlorine auto feeder we offer. Once fully fitted to the relevant pipework, this wonderful little machine can be filled with chlorine tablets and subsequently feed them into the pool at a rate appropriate for your needs.
Nonetheless, you should take into account that although chlorine can prevent algae growth, you still need other swimming pool supplies if you are eager to ensure optimum hygiene.
Using our website, you can swiftly place orders for not only swimming pool fittings, but also the likes of pool cleaners and pool vacuum heads — and we deliver to addresses across the UK.

The Ultimate Pool Service Pricing Guide
Tumblr media
Introduction
Pool cleaning service is important for maintaining your pool's health and keeping it clean. A dirty pool can be dangerous to swim in and requires more work on your part. If you're looking for the best prices on swimming pool cleaning services, check out this guide!
Pool cleaning services come in three forms: chemical service, pool maintenance service and full pool service.
Pool cleaning services come in three forms: chemical service, pool maintenance service and full pool service.
Chemical Service - Chemical service is the most basic form of pool cleaning. This involves adding chemicals to your pool water on a regular basis so that bacteria does not grow inside it. The chemicals used for this process include chlorine or bromine (depending on what your local laws allow). You should have a professional check your water chemistry at least once per month and add extra chemicals as needed to maintain proper levels of pH balance and acidity. This type of service may also include the removal of leaves, twigs and other debris from around your property's perimeter.
Pool Maintenance Service - Pool maintenance services are similar to chemical services in that they focus on keeping an eye on the chemical levels in your swimming pool water every month or so; however, they go beyond just maintaining these levels by adding new types of algae-fighting products into their routine maintenance schedule as well—these products could be anything from chlorine tablets or shock treatments all the way up until salt systems (which require little maintenance once installed). Maintenance companies tend not only keep tabs on how often guests use their pools but also check things like heating systems regularly too!
Full Pool Service - Full-service contracts are usually required if you want someone else taking care everything about maintaining both chemical treatments along with regular cleaning chores too; however, keep in mind this will cost more than either option listed above since there's an upfront fee involved before any work begins."
A basic cleaning job can include a few simple tasks such as brushing the walls, skimming the surface, filtering, vacuuming and backwashing.
A basic cleaning job can include a few simple tasks such as brushing the walls, skimming the surface, filtering and backwashing (if necessary). The frequency of your pool cleaning services should be determined by how often you use your pool and where it's located. For example, if you live in an area that gets hot during the summer months and have a lot of trees around your house then you'll want to make sure to get your filter cleaned more often than someone who lives in a dry climate with no trees nearby.
If you'd like more information on how we determine pricing for our services give us a call at (800)-555-1234 or fill out this form here: http://goo.gl/forms/j5Dz9XB5n0
The frequency of your pool cleaning services should be determined by how often you use your pool and where it's located.
The frequency of your pool cleaning adelaide services should be determined by how often you use your pool and where it's located.
If you have a swimming pool in the city, especially if it's near busy streets or highways, then it will need to be cleaned more often than pools that are in more rural areas. This is because city air has higher levels of pollution (i.e., dirt, dust and exhaust fumes) than most other places in the country so these contaminants can get into your pool water much quicker and stick around longer than if you lived out in the boonies somewhere like Montana or Wyoming.
If you live near any forested areas with trees nearby then there's also going to be more debris floating around from leaves falling onto trees at some point during fall season which could land into your backyard pool when they hit their branches on top of them while flying through the air during wind gusts; these bits of leaf matter will float downward until they either drop into another part of nature or land somewhere else entirely like maybe on top of someone's car windshield? If this happens....then no one wants that happening!
A common pricing model for basic residential swimming pool maintenance is to provide a flat rate per month.
A common pricing model for basic residential swimming pool maintenance is to provide a flat rate per month. This pricing structure can be either monthly or annual, depending on how much time it takes to do the service and how often the pool needs cleaning. A flat rate per month can provide you with a great deal of flexibility in your budgeting and planning. With this kind of pricing structure, you are able to pay more or less depending on your budget and needs at any given time.
A common pricing structure for a weekly or bi-weekly swimming pool maintenance package is to charge one flat rate per month or quarterly.
A common pricing structure for a weekly or bi-weekly swimming pool maintenance package is to charge one flat rate per month, quarterly, or year. This means that the customer pays the same amount each month for their services regardless of how many visits they need. For example:
$60/month
$150/quarter
$600/year
If you live in an area with high demand for swimming pools, your prices may be slightly higher than the national average. Most companies will also provide an estimate of what your costs will be over time if you sign up for their services. However, there is no way of knowing exactly how much you will spend until after the job is completed!

A large pool requires more time to clean and vacuum than a smaller one does. This means that it will cost more!
More complex pools require more maintenance than simpler ones do. If your pool has multiple levels or different depths, cleaning and vacuuming it can get tricky fast!
Pools that require special chemicals or treatments may also cost more due to special equipment required to handle these materials safely while still doing an excellent job cleaning them thoroughly each week (or month).

Pool cleaning services come in three forms including chemical service, basic maintenance and full pool service.
Chemical Service: This type of service is perfect for those who are unsure of how often they should be cleaning their pool or if they even need to clean it at all. The chemicals that are used to keep the water clear and clean will also kill off any bacteria that might be present in the water. This form of service is usually offered by pool companies and does not require you to take any extra steps once a week or month when it comes down to your own home from one day out of the year (and this day usually falls on Sunday). Basic Maintenance: If you have children who frequently swim in your backyard oasis, then having regular maintenance done will help keep them safe from germs and other contaminants that could affect their health when swimming around unsupervised. This type of service usually costs anywhere between $50-$75 depending on how often you want someone else taking care of your pool while you're away at work during the weekdays or working outside with friends during weekends! Full Pool Service: Some people enjoy making sure their pools are always clean themselves because they don't trust others with their own property; however, most homeowners don't have time for such an undertaking unless they're retired and living alone without any family commitments!
Conclusion
If you have any questions about these prices or would like more information about adelaide pool cleaning services, please contact your local pool service company.

You're not supposed to do what I did, but fuck it the earth basically did the same thing once & yes, that did trigger the largest dieoff in geological history
But the precambrian explosion happens a bit later and that shit was Cool
1. Invite bacteria.
Just, put food in there. I added fish flakes, dried out algae tablets, and then like 4 days later I got real high and put caramel corn in there too "Cos fuck it" and I needed the biomass
2. Community builders.
I got lucky and saw a bacterial dome-shaped slime form up on some food. That's great, cos otherwise they'd have never been able to take advantage of the crushed up multivitamin I tossed in
3. Fuel for the machine. Many of the processes of microorganisms anaerobic organisms are based on fermentation cycles to loosen up nutrients and sugars. It already has popcorn, that's sugar. What happens when I just... Add vitamins right in? The tank gets taken over by blobs is what.
4. It is happening again.
The blobs were taking over, and I should have just waited patently for native algae. The bacterial soup kind of smells, and I didn't want to wait whatever it was going to take to grow the algae natively. So I took some excess algae from my OG tank and tossed it in. Added some grasses too, and some snails hitched a ride. I think most of them ODd on vitamin tablet, but the one that was just big enough to not die from it is still kicking and probably has superpowers
5. It's Pre-Cymru
You know what else my tank/apartment doesn't have? The sheer photonic energy output of the goddamned sun. I've rigged up the LED panel the tank came with to the wall and helt it at the spot I wanted with some foam and counterweight. This on top of the tank lid, holds the aluminum foil seal in place and allows for the green boys to love life, break down CO2, and release O2.
But wait, that decrease in acidity will debuff the anaerobic bacteria and buff the photosynthetic bacteria.
And since it's photosynthesis, the organism doesn't spend any energy to do it

triple helix pitching forward | chapter three: altered present moments
word count: 3.7k
content warnings: sexual allusion
Routines flex easily to accommodate an additional person. It’s the last day before the tunnel strands them — the last day before they’re stuck on Elysium-4 for the next forty days, the last day Selene can reconsider her plan to keep the prime suspect confined with her. Asphodel and Brutus are sitting at the table as Selene puts the dishes and cutlery away. Scrubbing brushes kick on inside the cubbyholes, removing melted cheese and other evidence of today’s breakfast.
“I don’t really have any suggestions.” Asphodel shrugs. “Maybe it was a bit too salty?”
“Hey, there we go, Brutus! Some feedback,” Selene says, sitting back down. She can’t tell if it’s a trick of the light — if the algae are simply fluorescing more today — but Asphodel looks a little less sickly, a little more radiant, like a flower that’s finally getting rain.
Brutus simply nods. “Thank you, Asphodel.” Selene isn’t sure why he’s continuing to ask for feedback like this. Whatever purpose it initially served, she suspects that he’s continuing it just to have someone compliment his cooking. She winces slightly.
It’s not long before they’re sitting in front of the window again. The sunset functions like a fireplace would centuries prior: it’s something to look at other than your interlocutors. Today its flame is low on the horizon, a low ember burning the tops of the arboreal fungi.
“How do you occupy your time, stuck on uninhabited planets like these?” Asphodel’s adjusting her seating position, brows furrowed slightly. She’s wearing more of Selene’s dress clothes; they fit her just as poorly as the previous ones. “It seems mind-numbing.”
“Sometimes there’s enough work to keep me busy,” Selene says. There is this time; she’s not relishing the thought of searching through all that mail. “Otherwise, we find ways.”
“I have accumulated a cache of papers and novels and other such materials,” Brutus says. “If I titrate my attention. A dozen books keep enough segments of my awareness occupied for a day or so.”
Asphodel’s face scrunches up further. “Okay, but what do you expect me to do here? Do you expect me to help you find THRONE?”
Selene opens her mouth, but Brutus jumps in first. “That will not be necessary. You are a guest here, after all. You are welcome to any of the materials in my library. I believe Selene has a reading tablet in her desk.”
In her room, rummaging through drawers for something she forgot she had, Selene says, “It could’ve been useful to have her help.”
“That is an unacceptably risky idea.”
“If she isn’t THRONE, we get another perspective,” she says, pulling a tablet out from underneath a pile of miscellaneous devices — a toxin analysis probe, a steno board, a two-way earpiece — the majority of which she intends to repair at some point. “If she is THRONE, she might say something useful.”
“In the unlikely event she is not THRONE, you are enlisting a civilian to do your job for you,” Brutus says. His avatar is standing in front of the door. He’s gone to the effort of lowering his eyebrows, crossing his arms over his chest. “If she is, she will almost immediately realize you suspect her, and she will cut your throat in your sleep.”
Standing with Brutus between her and the exit is intimidating despite the fact he’s a dozen centimeters shorter and his visible form is just triangles etched into the air. “I lock my door.” She realizes the obvious objection — ‘so did the scientists’ — after she says it.
“I am uncomfortable with you putting yourself in danger for such little gain.” His voice is lowered, tinged with emotion — he’s devoted a not insignificant amount of computing power to modulating it effectively. It hits Selene that he really means this.
She can’t look him in the eye. It’s a couple moments before she can bring herself to respond. “Okay. I won’t.”
Back out in the living room, Selene hands her the tablet. “It should still work. It can send mail, too, so you don’t have to use my terminal.” And she doesn’t have to keep turning the brightness back up every time they switch off.
Asphodel experimentally presses a couple keys. The display turns on, and she turns away as though blinded. It takes a couple seconds of squinting sideways at the screen for her to dim the lights to something she can bear to look at. She turns to Selene, still blinking. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.” She looks out the window before glancing up at Brutus, who’s taken his normal immobile station behind her seat. There’s no evidence of any previous conflict on his face. “She can still send mail without the tunnel, right?”
He nods. “There is a data relay in orbit around this planet. Your messages will be stored until the relay can connect to the recipient.” It’s been years and she’s still not used to the way the Coalition leaves infrastructure strewn around so casually. If she worked in resource allocation, she’s sure the thought of putting an orbital relay around some distant planet with a population of less than a dozen researchers would make her queasy.
Her train of thought is interrupted by Asphodel typing, keystrokes like the simultaneous footfalls of a quartet of dancers. She’s curled up in the chair, tablet perched on her lap, staring at the screen she’s tilted backward. She doesn’t say anything when Selene leaves.
Skimming through the newly-decrypted user registry, Selene notices humans are outnumbered three to one by combat drones. From the photographs she recognizes the one from the stairwell, already in disrepair.
“I believe they made profiles for the drones due to a quirk of the networking architecture,” Brutus says, preempting the question she had just opened her mouth to ask.
“Do you think they were intelligent?”
“I cannot be certain now that they have been disassembled,” he says, the word sounding like a euphemism even in his monotone, “but judging from their construction they cannot have been higher than Canid-class.”
The sapience of artificial intelligences is ranked on a scale from Thread-class, roughly equivalent to a flatworm, to Upright-class, roughly equivalent to a human. The handful of news feeds she still follows will, on uneventful days, frequently report on talks held to rename Upright-class to something that doesn’t assume bipedalism. These talks stretch back decades to a few years after first contact; they have yet to bear any fruit.
“And they still took pictures of them? That’s almost cute,” she says, paging through the users’ details, coming to a stop when she sees a familiar name: Minerva Verrine. “Huh. Guess she’s real.”
“This changes the calculus.”
The woman in the photograph is drawn, austere. She’s not smiling. Nobody in these pictures has been, but it seems most natural for her. This effect is amplified by her dark glasses, worn despite her clearly being indoors. The only resemblance between her and her younger sister is the auburn color of her hair.
“You’d think that if THRONE was lying about being her sister, it’d choose a form that looks more like her.” She leans back, looking up at the ceiling.
“Perhaps it had not settled on a cover story when it chose its human disguise,” he says. “It is also possible it anticipated that too much of a resemblance would be suspicious.”
Selene shoots him a look. He doesn’t react. “I don’t think it was on that level of metacognition, Brutus.”
“The dossier specified that it is extremely intelligent. It may very well be planning that far ahead.”
“I know it’s intelligent, I just don’t think that much subterfuge would’ve felt necessary to it.”
“That mindset is why you so often lose when we play chess.” Once again she opens her mouth to speak; once again she is preempted. “Directness is valuable, but it is entirely plausible THRONE thought its cover would be made more believable by imperfections. Given your assessment of Asphodel’s story and her resemblance to her supposed sister, it would have been correct to do so.”
She leans forward again. “I guess you have a point.”
Ignoring the drones, there are six users total: Halifax Stephenson, Daniel Young, Ivan Burroughs, Fletcher Hayward, Eugene Newman, and Minerva Verrine. She recognizes Young and Newman. Even if the body on the stairs wasn’t really Stephenson, it was a dead ringer for the photograph on file. The partially devoured body was wearing a gas mask, but looking at Burroughs’ picture she recognizes the corpse’s eyes. The other two — Hayward and Verrine — she’s never seen before.
There’s a knock at the door, and her train of thought derails. It’s Asphodel.
“Sorry, did I interrupt something?”
Selene waves her off. “It’s fine. What’d you need?”
As soon as she moves to let her in, Asphodel goes to Selene’s dresser and starts searching through it. “Clothes that fit.”
“I do not think you will find anything more suitable during your second search,” Brutus says.
“It’s worth a shot.” She pulls a shirt out of the drawer and holds it up to her torso. After a moment’s contemplation she folds it and puts it back. “Maybe not.” She sighs, hand on her chin, brow furrowed. “You don’t have guest clothes? No exes or flings that left stuff behind?”
“No, neither. Don’t really have any exes.”
Asphodel’s eyes flit between the person and the hologram in the room. “That tracks.”
“Huh?”
“Never mind.” A moment’s pause. “I hate to be a bother about this, but—”
Selene waves off the apologetic preface. “You can order some clothes. I’ll pay for it.”
“Thank you, I’m sorry for the trouble—”
“No need for the apologies. It’s the least we can do.”
“You should be able to make purchases from your tablet,” Brutus says. “If you order quickly, it should arrive before we are isolated.”
She does, and it’s less than four hours before the tablet lights up with a request to open the airlock, accompanied by a stylized depiction of a delivery drone with cameras its closed in an imitation of smiling eyes. “It says to open the airlock.”
Brutus nods in response — Selene knows he’ll have triple-checked the message’s signature for legitimacy — and the airlock opens. An automated courier drone floats in, only moderately less cute than its portrait, accompanied by a halo of cameras. The drone’s front unfolds, grotesque like a cat yawning, and out slides a series of packages barely recognizable as clothing, compressed and trussed up with twine. The bundles land ambivalently on the carpet. Asphodel looks at the drone with an expression Selene can’t read, hand outstretched like she’s either going to give the drone a pat on the head-analogue or grab it and smash it against the wall.
She does neither. The airlock closes behind it with a quiet hiss. She takes the clothes and goes to the guest room. It’s not long before Selene hears her voice again. “They don’t fit.”
She looks up at her guest, takes a moment to register what she’s seeing, and averts her gaze. Asphodel’s in her underwear, practical garments that still evoke the flesh. The curve of her hips is burned into her eyes like an unbidden daydream, like having stared into the sun. “Do you mind?” The levelness of her voice briefly surprises her. Training herself into professionalism has its uses.
“What are you—?” Asphodel sighs. “Fine, whatever.”
It’s not long before she’s back in Selene’s formalwear, holding a dress up to her torso. She wasn’t lying; it’d be a tight fit under the best of circumstances. It’s the sort of fit associated with fancy clothing for extremely formal functions of the sort Selene does her best not to attend. As casual wear, it’s not fit for purpose.
Asphodel says as much. “I’m sorry for the trouble, but do you think I could order a replacement?”
Brutus shakes his head, an uncommon gesture for him when he has to use up cycles rendering the motion of his hair. “We have less than two hours before we lose contact. That is not enough time for a second delivery.” Selene doesn’t let her relief show; a single delivery is fine, but two would eat into her scrip budget more than she would be comfortable with.
Dress still held up to her torso, Asphodel frowns, looking down at it, then up at Selene. “You have to have one of those medical robot arms, right? Can it do stitches?”
Selene looks at Brutus, who says, “Yes, I should be able to re-tailor your clothes for you.”
It’s slow work. The machine folds down from the wall, a blockage in the arterial space of the hallway. A scalpel performs adequately at a task it was never meant for, and a needle threads surgical-grade stitches through seams. He must be researching the principles of garment tailoring as he goes, extrapolating Asphodel’s measurements from the camera feeds. He’s stopped rendering his avatar or responding to questions. Whatever his method is, it’s demanding.
Selene exits her room after a brief report to her superiors and colleagues in the Blades — no survivors found, no sign of THRONE, will continue to search — to find Asphodel sitting on the floor, watching a triumph of medical science alter a dress. Selene sits down next to her.
They watch the cutting and stitching heads engage in their careful dance for a couple minutes before Asphodel breaks the silence. “Thanks again for the clothes.” A brief pause. ”The delivery was probably expensive.”
It was. “You don’t have to thank me.”
Silence overtakes them again. The carpet is soft, and the quiet rustle of fabric is soothing. Selene can tell she’d be in danger of dozing off if she was still capable of getting drowsy. Still, it’s nice.
“Why did that delivery robot look like that?” Once again Asphodel interrupts the quiet. “All the cameras were off-putting.”
“They need good peripheral vision so they don’t run into stuff.”
“That makes sense.” Then, “Wait, how do you know that?”
“Brutus used to pilot one.” It was years ago, back when they were first getting started together, back when they needed the scrip and would cut to the bone to save it. “They’re all piloted by AI. The delivery company avoids liability in a crash and the AI gets paid.”
“What would a robot need money for?”
“Computing time is expensive.”
Conversation is interrupted when the dress is finished and Asphodel has to put another garment on the table. After she sits back down, she asks, “Does Brutus earn his keep?”
“It’s not like that.”
“Computing time is expensive, right?”
“He’s not my employee. We’re partners.”
There’s a look on her face Selene doesn’t know what to do with — a half-suppressed grimace, maybe — but she doesn’t say anything else.
After an indeterminate while longer of watching a robot tailor at work, Selene stands. “I’ve got more work to do.” Maybe she’ll find Minerva’s original report on THRONE. Hopefully it’ll have that cave’s coordinates in it. “Let me know when you want dinner.”
“Yeah, sure.”
***
It’s three days after their isolation began, and Selene is once again at her desk. Reading through the decrypted mail is less enlightening than she had hoped. For every useful piece of information, there’s a couple dozen bits of office gossip, complaints about the food printer quality, denied requests for vacation time. She sighs, stretches, rubs her eyes. The information’s turning to mush in her head. She’s about to call it a night when she looks back at the screen, realizes what it’s about, pages back to read from the start.
It’s between Minerva and Stephenson. The start of the correspondence hasn’t been decrypted yet. The first link in the chain she has access to is Minerva suggesting numerous methods for keeping THRONE in line even if they let it out of the enclosure. It’s a thorough list; half of them are technologies Selene’s never heard of. It ends with her asserting it’s inhumane to keep something so large confined to such a small space and a signature, “MPV.”
The response fits on a single screen. “Absolutely not. You’re talking like one of those Telly cultists.” She can feel the bile rising in her throat. She imagines THRONE, three meters tall, stuck in that tiny enclosure. She thinks back to Stephenson lying dead on the stairs. It’s a satisfying image.
The bile stays with her. She’s still wide awake and resentful when it’s time to sleep and her consciousness is flipped off like a light.
***
It’s dinner, five nights after their isolation began. The steaks on their plates ooze red just like the real thing. Brutus is explaining the process by which he modulates the steak’s recipe file to make it rarer or more well done. Most of it goes over Selene’s head — this wasn’t her department even when she was more academically minded — but Asphodel seems to be enjoying the conversation, nodding along. Selene isn’t paying much attention to the words, just watching the conversation, the clipped head tilts Brutus makes, the way Asphodel’s mouth moves, other such things. It’s comfortable, like the sound of crickets or rain outside.
Asphodel gestures, knife in hand. “I’m surprised you thought to try that. I guess you have a lot of time to iterate, confined to the ship together so often.”
Selene’s about to ask how she got into culinary engineering when she fumbles. The knife slips from Asphodel’s grip, and she contorts herself to try and catch it. Her reflexes are impressive, but her accuracy is not; she catches it by the blade, which digs in. She drops it on reflex, and the knife clatters to the floor. She flinches at the noise but regards her bleeding hand with a blank expression Selene can only read as boredom, or perhaps confusion.
She’s off to the bathroom before she fully realizes it, grabs a roll of bandages and disinfectant after a moment’s hasty searching, returns to find Asphodel continuing to examine her hand with that same look on her face. She looks up when Selene takes a hold of her hand.
“What? It’s nothing, you don’t have to—”
She waves her off. It’s not that bad a cut, but still needs bandaging. Asphodel doesn’t pull back as Selene sprays the cut with stinging antiseptic and begins to wind the bandage around her palm. The blood stains the green-blue fabric crimson. When her work is done, Selene steps back; Asphodel flexes her hand.
“Thanks,” she says, then, “It’s sticky.”
“Yeah, it’s got some kind of salve on it. It promotes healing.” She stoops down to pick up the knife, wipes blood off the tile. “Make sure you don’t use that hand too much while it heals.” The knife goes into its slot easily; the cleaning system can handle blood just as well as food residue.
“Yeah, okay,” she replies, reaching over the table to take Selene’s knife. She’s not meeting her eyes. She resumes eating, knife and fork having swapped hands.
The rest of dinner is uneventful, and it’s now past the point in the ship’s circadian processes when the lights dim in artificial dusk. Selene sits at her terminal, paging through the user registry again. The glare of her screen the only light in the room. She cycles through names and photographs on repeat. Stephenson. Young. Burroughs. Hayward. Newman. Verrine.
“Young’s body was in the server room. Newman’s was in the security room. Stephenson was on the stairs to the kitchen. I’m pretty sure Burroughs was the one who got partially devoured.” She’s muttering under her breath, counting on her fingers as she goes, voice building up to normal speaking tone. “That leaves two bodies we can’t identify: whoever got their head slammed into the wall, and whoever was in the elevator. One could be Minerva and the other could be Hayward. Then we’d have six people here and six corpses, and everything would line up.” She turns to Brutus. “That’s the obvious thing to think, right?”
“I was under the impression you agreed that Stephenson’s body was THRONE in disguise.”
“Right, exactly, so we have one person unaccounted for. Maybe the real Stephenson’s body is in the enclosure. Maybe somebody got out.”
“You are forgetting something.” She can’t help but read his blank expression as disappointment. “It is possible there were two people in the elevator.”
A deep exhale. “That’s true.”
There’s quiet for a few seconds before he says, “I apologize.”
“No, you’re right.” She stands up and stretches; her back pops, and a brief ripple of numbness radiates out from her spinal implant. “It’s definitely possible.” She spends a few seconds mentally repairing the elevator, unfolding it like origami to see if two people could fit, before dismissing that line of inquiry. She takes her nightly slate of pills and climbs the ladder up to her bed.
Blankets weighing down on her, staring up at the ceiling, she asks, “Brutus?”
“Yes, Selene?”
“Thanks for all the work you do around here. I really appreciate it.”
It’s a moment before he responds. “You are welcome.” He sounds like he means it.
And then she’s asleep.
It’s not long before half-lucid awareness reemerges. The sky outside the front window is black, dotted with stars, the galaxy’s arm smeared over it with insulting beauty. The vehicle’s headlights and scattered lamps are the only exterior illumination; they cast harsh shadows on the dusty gray terrain. A crater-pockmarked childhood home, for some definition of home. The air is stale and stinks of violence, the gunpowder reek of a vacuum baptism. The seat’s fabric is coarse, decades worth of dust ground into it. Overdue for a cleaning.
There’s someone in the passenger seat. The rover never had a passenger seat. This is somewhere else. Imitation leather seats, imitation blue sky, imitation asphalt under the tires. The sun catches hair dyed gray; his roots are white. Two people sitting in the backseat of an imitation relic. The electric engine rumbles, baritone like his voice, artificial like his sentiments. Goosebumps, cologne that smells like a bad idea, stifled moans like an unfulfilled fantasy. His hand — bandaged around the palm — tangles in loose hair. His mouth tastes like shrapnel, ashes, someone else’s restaurant order. The carpeted floor is rough against exposed skin. Overdue for a cleaning.
The clock-forced awakening is a mercy. She blinks.
She’s talking before she’s fully pieced herself together. “Does the medisynth have anything that’ll keep me from dreaming?”
“I can add anti-oneirics to your medication regimen,” Brutus says. “Did you have a nightmare? I noticed your vitals were elevated for most of the night.”
“Something like that.”

Comforting their s/o in her pregnancy during a bad day (Osamu Miya | Tetsurou Kuroo)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3  | Part 4  | Part 5
Pairing: Osamu Miya x reader, Tetsurou Kuroo x reader Warning: just fluff
Tumblr media
All day long, you have no appetite for hearty food. Actually, you don’t know what you want. Anyway, not one of Osamus Onigiris. You can’t see them anymore. The whole house smells of slightly sour rice and sweet plums, seaweed leaves and sesame paste. You usually like the smell. After all, this means that Osamu is at home.
Sighing, you look at the clock when you turn off the TV and get up from the sofa. Tired you caress your stomach and walk with slow steps towards the kitchen, where you find Osamu, who places the last piece of Onigiri on the plate.
“Y/n! What are you doing here honey? I thought you had a headache. Sit down and drink a lot. I’ll be done with dinner in a minute.” He happily raises his head as he sees you leaning against the door frame. You look down at the Onigiris and see that he gave them cute faces with the algae leaves. Actually, you’d be smiling and happy now, but not today.
“Osamu... I don’t want your stupid Onigiris…” it escapes you suddenly. Hurt and a bit surprised he looks down on the plate. “Is everything all right y/n? Are you all right? I made especially your favorite onigiri.” He asks concerned, but today his caring nature annoys you.
“Osamu, I have a headache and I’m tired. I don’t want your hearty Onigiris or Onigiris in general. I can’t see any more rice and don’t treat me like I’m dying. I’m just pregnant, okay?” You’re hissing annoyed. “I’m going to sleep, eat alone.” You add displeased and turn around to lie down in the dark bedroom and sleep.
When you wake up again, you feel the cold spot next to you and look at the alarm clock. 3:42 am. Confused, you stand up in bed and realize that there is still light in the hallway under the door slit. With a groan, you stand up and quietly open the door. The light doesn’t come from the hallway. No, it’s from the kitchen.
Skeptical and on tiptoes, you try to walk quietly to the kitchen and stay in the door frame with a warm smile. “So now only the pistachios on it and then… Did I have to do anything else?” Osamu mumbles to himself as he unlocks his tablet again and watches a video of how to make chocolate pralines himself. “Okay, it’s all done.” He sighs and supports his hands on his sides.
“Osamu?” your tender voice makes him turn to you. “Hey my love, did you get some sleep? How are your headaches?” with a smile on his face he goes in your direction and stretches out his arms to take you in his arms and give you a kiss on your forehead.
“Osamu my honey bear, I’m so sorry I was so mean to you earlier. I’m really sorry… I was just in a bad mood. I love your Onigiri.” you’re mumbling at yourself while you look at him with a puppy look. “It’s all right y/n. I made you pralines. Pralines with peanut cream, pistachios and cherries. I only took products that you can eat when you’re pregnant.” he smiles and pushes you closer.
“You really are the best husband in the world. What have I done to deserve you.” Your words are hard to hear as they are swallowed by Osamus’s chest. “Oh, honey, you know I always love you, whether you are in a good or bad mood. And besides, thanks to you, I learned how to make pralines. Shall we try these?” Laughing, he lets go of you and fetches two pralines rolled in pistachios from the plate.
“One for Mom…” he says lovingly and feeds you with the chocolate. “And one for dad.” he adds and enjoys eating the second praline. Lovingly you look at each other as you start to laugh out loud.
Together you sit for several hours in the kitchen, eat the chocolates, and mess around before you go back to bed and sleep the following day until the afternoon.
Tumblr media
Sad you look at the clock. 09:26 pm. The ticking second hand is the only thing you hear. Because Kuroo is still at work. He promised you he’d be here early. To come home early. But apparently, he won’t be able to keep his promise this time either. When your phone on the living room table begins to vibrate, your fear is confirmed. 'I’m just in an important meeting. I’ll be there later. Sorry about that, kitten.’
You don’t know how many times you’ve heard those words, and you don’t really want to read them again. Because you don’t know if they’re true or not. With a painful face, you straighten up and look in your contacts for a person who was always there for you when Kuroo was just once again in his meetings.
“Hi Daichi, do you have a minute?” you ask, when you hear Sawamura’s voice on the other line. “Hey y/n. Of course… Kuroo is still working?” concerned his voice enters your ears. “Yeah…”, “Be right with you.” With these words he lies down and sets out on his way to you.
When you open the door, he immediately realizes that you have acute back pain. They’ve been bothering you since you were pregnant. “Hey, say, how long have you had this back pain…” asks Sawamura directly.
“I don’t know… since last night... Tetsurou actually wanted to massage my back, but then fell asleep on his sofa at work after working overtime again.” you sigh. “Sit down, I’ll rub your back and you’ll tell me what’s going on.” He smiles at you and helps you to walk into the living room.
You’re breathing out loud as you sit on the sofa with your back to Sawamura. “Thank you for being here…” you start the conversation with a sad voice. “Kuroo loves you, and I think he’s pretty upset that he’s not with you right now.” His friendly voice enters your ears as he begins to massage the painful spots on your back. You grimace your face briefly, but relax quickly.
“Kitten, sorry I’m so late again, but I’m-” a voice so familiar to you comes closer and closer to the living room. Kuroo does not manage to finish his sentence, because when he sees you sitting on the sofa with Sawamura, as he massages your back, he falls silent. “Sawamura…”  he greets him coolly.
“Hello Kuroo...I think I’ll go now what?” Embarrassed, Sawamura scratches the back of his head and stands up with a warm smile. “You just got here… Stay a little longer.” you’re still trying to stop him because you don’t want to send him right back home.
“It’s all right. There’s something I have to do anyway. Until next time. Goodbye y/n. Goodbye Kuroo.”  with a barely visible nod, he says goodbye to you and walks out the door.
“I didn’t know you were coming so early. You said you’d be late.” Again, you support your hands against your back, as it still hurts. But instead of greeting you or answering you, Kuroo turns around and disappears in the bathroom.
The faucet squeaks as it opens and the hot water flows into the bathtub. “Tetsurou? Is… Is everything all right?” you ask worried. But he’s not answering you. The bathtub is already half filled when he closes the tap and swivels back and forth with his hand, up to the wrist, in the warm water. “Get in the tub. You have back pain. You should take a warm bath. Do you need help taking your clothes off?” he asks in a cool voice.
You still look at him worried, but do not dare to ask again if everything is okay with him. “N… No. I don’t need any help… Thank you Tetsurou…” You answer quietly as you move to the bathtub. Without looking at you, he walks out of the bathroom and quietly closes the door.
You look at the door for a long time until you finally get into the bathtub and close your eyes because of the pleasant warmth. But you open them quickly when you hear the door open again.
In comes Kuroo, with a bowl of sliced fruit, a glass of water and a water bottle that he has clamped under his arm. He carefully places the bowl, the glass and the bottle next to the bathtub on a small cupboard and begins to undress. “You should drink something and eat lots of fruit, it’s healthy.” He mumbles to himself as he takes off his shirt.
Even if his words are loving, he still doesn’t look at you. “Tetsurou…” you ask now after all. But again he doesn’t answer, instead he gets into the bathtub behind you and pulls you close to him with a deep sigh. He holds you firmly in his arms as he begins to kiss your neck and lays his head on your shoulder.
“Tetsurou?” you ask again. “I’m so sorry y/n… I’m sorry I can’t be the man you want me to be. I should be the one who’s there for you. Especially now that you’re pregnant, I should be the one taking care of you. Not Sawamura. I didn’t realize how bad this must be for you… to be alone all the time. I’m really sorry I’m not a good husband to you.” His voice is shaky. However, you can’t tell if he’s sad or angry at himself. Probably both.
“Tetsurou, stop it… You’re a great husband. I can understand that you have a lot to do at work. That’s okay with me.” You try to comfort him and squeeze your head against his. “No y/n. It’s not okay. I need to be there for you. Work is not what makes me happy. That’s you… You and our child. And I want to be there for you. I promise I’ll do better.” With his words he pushes you even tighter and gives you a loving kiss on the cheek.
Giggling, you turn to him. “Oh, the old cat is very affectionate today what?” Now his mood improves and he grins at you mischievously. “Seems that way, I guess. What do you say when we just relax, eat the fruit and I’ll give you a nice back massage and we’ll sleep in tomorrow? Just like two cats would? Just lounging." With your eyebrow raised, you look at him from the side.
“And your work?”, “Since I’m my own boss, I just give myself a day off.” he grins and distributes several kisses on your neck. “Today and tomorrow is all about us. I love you, kitten.”

Sustainable Foods You Can Rely On for Optimized Nutrition
How easy would you say it is to add sustainable foods to your diet? If you said, “Very easy,” you’d be right! There are many foods that are remarkably sustainable. These are the kinds of foods that can be relatively easy to replenish. They don’t take a lot of resources (comparatively) to grow, harvest, and prepare for consumption. At the same time, sustainable foods can be highly nutritious and serve as a valuable part of your daily diet. From algae-based chlorella tablets to the leafiest of greens, here are a few sustainable foods you can easily add to your diet—if you haven’t already!
Tumblr media
Spirulina and Chlorella Let’s start with two sustainable foods you might not have considered as “sustainable.” These two foods are spirulina and chlorella. Both are forms of algae. Spirulina is a blue-green algae, and chlorella is a green algae. You can get both in the form of spirulina and chlorella supplements, though they aren’t supplements, but whole foods.
Tumblr media
They’re whole foods because they’re made of one ingredient and are so nutritious. You can find protein, fiber, phytonutrients, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in both. You can take spirulina tablets to feel more energized and alert. They can also help nourish the brain and heart. Chlorella tablets can support immune health and gut wellness—and so much more. You can eat either as you would any food. Both spirulina and chlorella are also easy to cultivate. You can find algae farms around the globe, including many in Southeast Asia, where algae has been cultivated for decades. They have it down to a literal science. It takes remarkably few resources to produce a significant amount of whole-food algae. Beans and Legumes This can include everything from black beans to chickpeas to lentils—with so many others in the mix. Beans and legumes are another source of protein and fiber, along with many other nutrients. However, for many people, it’s the protein that can make beans and legumes a valuable addition to their diets. Beans and legumes are relatively easy to grow and can feed a lot of people. As part of their growth process, many kinds of beans and legumes can leave the soil more nutrient-rich than before they were planted. This helps reduce the need for chemical fertilizers that may do more harm than good. Talk about sustainability! Dark Leafy Greens Dark leafy greens, besides being green, have a lot in common with algae tablets like chlorella and spirulina supplements. Leafy green veggies like broccoli, collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and watercress are packed with nutritional value. They are also great sources of fiber, which can be essential for heart and gut health.

Dark leafy greens can also grow fast. It can take little time and effort to replenish these kinds of leafy greens after a harvest. Some people even “regenerate” their leafy greens at home. If you have a grocer that stocks live leafy greens, you can harvest at your leisure and with care and attention, it can continue to grow.
Algae
Nobody wants to try Monty’s second batch of algae, especially considering Murphy is still in a coma from the first round. Their rations are just about gone, though, even with Skaikru’s extreme apportioning, and they’ll starve soon. Someone has to test it.
“Well it can’t be Monty,” Raven says, “and it can’t be me either. We’re too important up here to lose to bad algae.” Echo purses her lips. Raven’s full of herself, but she’s not wrong.
“I’m Monty’s hands,” Harper reminds them, wiggling her fingertips. His hands still haven’t quite healed from the radiation burns, so she’s been assisting him with everything.
“And I’ve gotta clean John up,” Emori says. She looks around at the group. “I don’t suppose anyone else wants that job.” It’s an unglamorous task, but it makes Emori nonexpendable. Echo would rather die a violent death than clean up John Murphy’s fluids.
That leaves Echo and Bellamy.
Back when Bellamy had convinced Echo to come to space, he had joked about having someone to throw overboard. Maybe it wasn’t a joke. Echo steels herself, readying herself for a coma or worse.
Instead, Bellamy steps forward and volunteers. “I’ll do it.”
“Are you sure?” Raven asks, touching his arm. “We need you too, Bellamy.”
She’s not subtle. It’s obvious who she, and everyone else, thinks should be doing this. Still, Bellamy nods.
“I’m sure the second batch’ll be better than the first,” he says, squaring his shoulders. “And besides, Murphy’s still alive.” His lips tug upward. “How bad can it be?”
“Famous last words,” Harper says, bringing over a metal spoon with a small serving of green sludge.
“A true hero,” Emori says, as Harper brings the spoon up to Bellamy’s lips.
Echo catches Bellamy’s eye. “Thank you,” she says, quietly.
Bellamy nods and opens his mouth for Harper. She smiles and makes some reference to an “airplane” as she feeds him with the spoon.
He takes it in, and visibly gags. The colour drains from his face as he struggles to choke it down.
“That good, huh,” Monty says.
Harper hands him a tumbler full of water, which he eagerly takes to chase it down, spilling a bit on his shirt in his haste. He slams the empty cup down and grips the table, white-knuckled.
“Nice work, champ,” Raven says, clapping his shoulder, before concern colours her expression. “You’re looking a little grey there. You gonna hurl?”
Bellamy grimaces. He keeps his mouth shut and seems to focus on breathing. In, out. In, out.
Emori stands by at the ready with a basin. “Well, he’s still breathing, so that’s a good start,” she says.
“Please don’t die,” Monty murmurs.
Bellamy manages a smile. “I’ll be fine, Monty,” he says.
“You’ll let us know if you get worse, right?” Harper asks.
“Right,” Bellamy utters.
After a few more breaths, he seems to get his nausea under control. He waves Emori off and gets to his feet. “Alright,” he says. “Let’s get back to work.”
“I’ll, uh, work on the flavour,” Monty says.
Bellamy huffs out a laugh. “That might be for the best.”
They split up. Echo follows Bellamy to storage room #3, where they’ve been searching for things they can use. She goes back to where she left off, while Bellamy goes to the other end of the room.
She rifles through the crates. Most of it is tech stuff or chemicals, which she doesn’t know anything about—Raven or Monty will have to look through it themselves—but she has found some useful items before, like cloths and towels.
Eventually, after an hour or so of sifting through boxes, she finds several containers labelled “soap”. She’s a little confused, because these containers are filled with liquid, so she calls Bellamy over. “Hey, Bellamy. Come look at this.”
She waits for him to come over, but it takes longer than it should. When he finally rounds the corner, he’s staggering. There’s a sheen of sweat on his face, his dark curls plastered to his forehead.
She frowns. “You don’t look well.”
“I’m fine,” he insists. “What did you find?”
Echo gestures to the “soap” containers.
“That’s great,” he says, though he sounds more exhausted than excited. “We can use this.”
“It’s a liquid,” she says, dumbly.
Bellamy nods. “Yeah. Makes it easier to clean stuff. Like dishes.”
“Oh,” Echo says. “Have you found anything?”
“I don’t think so.” He scrubs his face. “There’s still a lot to go through. I’ll keep looking.”
Echo wonders if she should let the others know that he looks ill—they had asked to be kept informed. She doesn’t want to betray him, though, so she decides against it.
They keep at it for another half-hour, working in silence, until Bellamy leaves for a bathroom break. Echo’s a little worried he might not make it back in one piece—he’s clammy and ghastly pale—so she silently follows him as he stumbles out of the storage room and down the hall.
When he makes it to the bathroom, Echo waits around the corner, hidden from view.
She doesn’t mean to listen, but it’s hard not to hear as he retches, violently emptying what little there is in his stomach. He heaves over and over, far past the point of empty.
She thinks maybe she should go tell the others—it’s clear, now, that he’s been poisoned—but she also doesn’t want to leave him unattended, so she waits for him to finish.
He’s shaky and colourless when he comes out, clinging to the wall for support. Echo wonders if she should offer to help him, but she also doesn’t want him to be upset that she was spying on him, so she decides against it.
He doesn’t head back to the storage room; instead, he goes down the hall toward where the rest of them are staying. Back toward his room—the one he shares with Raven, because there are only four beds between the seven of them, and naturally they chose to stay with each other rather than room with Echo.
Raven, engrossed in reading something on a tablet without looking where she’s going, nearly crashes into him in the hall. “Whoa, sor—“ she cuts herself off when she looks at his face. “Jesus, Bellamy. You look like crap.”
“Thanks,” he mutters.
“Seriously,” she says. “Are you okay?”
“…I’ve felt better,” he admits, quietly.
She pushes his sweaty bangs out of his eyes and presses her hand to his forehead. His eyes flutter shut.
“Yikes,” she says. “Let’s get you to bed, big guy.”
Bellamy nods, letting her sling his arm across her shoulders for support.
He walks with her for a few paces, and then, without warning, he pitches to the side, taking her down with him.
“Bellamy!” she shrieks.
Bellamy groans. “Sorry,” he manages.
“God, you’re heavy,” she huffs, barely managing to roll out from under him. She cups his cheeks with her hands. “Still with me?”
He nods slightly.
Raven struggles to help him to his feet. Echo takes that as her cue to come out of hiding to lend a hand.
Raven glares at her as she helps to pull Bellamy up. “Have you just been standing there the whole time?”
“Is there a problem?” Echo asks, coolly.
“You could’ve helped him walk,” Raven scoffs. "You could have helped him back here before he collapsed in the hallway."
“He told me he was fine,” Echo says.
In Azgeda, offering to help someone after they said they were fine would be taken as an insult. And besides, even if Bellamy wanted help in his vulnerable state, she doubts he would want it from someone who betrayed him and tried to kill his sister.
“Does he look fine to you?” Raven snaps.
“Raven,” Bellamy says, exhausted.
Raven stands down, but her glare doesn’t fade. "Get him to bed," she orders, reluctantly acknowledging that Echo is better able to support his weight. “Make sure he’s okay. I’ll tell Monty and Harper."
Echo helps him to his room. "She'll warm to you eventually," Bellamy says. "They all will."
"Why do you care?" Echo asks.
"We're stuck here for five years, and we need to work together to survive," he says, his words sluggish. "But also... I know you're a good person. And I think you deserve a second chance."
"I think I used that up when I stabbed your sister and sent her over a cliff," she says.
Bellamy's brow wrinkles, and he looks almost… confused. Did he forget about that? He wobbles, and Echo steadies him.
Eventually, she gets him into the makeshift bedroom, where she deposits him on the stiff mattress. He immediately curls up on his side, barely stifling a groan.
"Are you in pain?" she asks.
“I’m— fine," he grunts, a blatant lie.
"Do you need anything?" she offers, but he shakes his head.
As much as he tries to be friendly with Echo—which she still doesn't quite understand—he doesn't trust her enough to be vulnerable around her. Certainly not the way he was with Raven moments ago. She understands; it makes perfect sense. But it also means she doesn't know what she can do to help, so she just stands silently by his side, a statue, until he falls into a fitful slumber.
He mutters things in his fever dreams, some of which Echo can pick out. Octavia, of course, but also Mom. Gina. Clarke. And, over and over, I am not afraid.
He wakes in a panic, bolting upright as he takes in his surroundings. He takes a few heavy breaths, then leans over and retches. His stomach is empty, but he continues to dry heave, gasping for air in between.
Echo wishes she were a healer. She wishes she had herbs she could give him to settle his stomach. Instead, she stands to the side and wordlessly watches him suffer.
Eventually, he stops and slumps forward. Panting for breath, he looks up at her from beneath sweat-soaked bangs, a string of drool hanging from his lips.
“…Do you need something?” Echo asks.
“Have you— have you seen Octavia?” he asks.
“No,” Echo says. “She’s not here.”
Bellamy swings his shins over the side of the bed and tries to stand. His legs immediately buckle and he crumples to the floor. His arms shake as he pushes himself up to his knees.
“Where are you going?” Echo asks.
“I need to find my sister,” he says. He crawls forward and starts feeling around the floor, scrabbling at the surface as if looking for something. “O?”
“What are you doing?” Echo asks.
“I need to find her,” he says. He digs his fingertips into a shallow groove in the floor and tries to lift. “O, are you down here?”
Echo narrows her eyes. “You think she’s in the floor?”
“Under the floor,” Bellamy corrects, scowling as he tugs uselessly at the metal floor. “I can’t— get it open.”
“She’s not under the floor,” Echo says. “She’s on Earth. In the bunker.”
Bellamy’s face scrunches up as he tries to think. “The bunker…”
“The bunker that protected twelve hundred people from Praimfaya,” Echo says, trying to be patient. “They’ve been there for a few weeks, while we’ve been up here.”
“We?” Bellamy asks.
“You, me, Raven, Harper, Monty, Emori, and Murphy,” Echo says.
Bellamy mouths the names as he reviews them, then frowns. “…What about Clarke?”
Echo is not equipped to handle this. “I need to leave,” she says, and with that, she heads for the door.
"Echo, wait," he pleads, just as she reaches the doorway. She whirls around. He looks so pathetic there on the floor. She supposes she should help him.
She crosses the room and pulls him up, bearing most of his weight as she gets him back into bed.
She makes to leave again, but his hand ensnares her wrist before she can.
"Is there something you need?" she asks.
He releases his grip. "I... uh..."
"You what?" she prompts.
He looks away. "When I'm sick sometimes I have... dreams," he says. The nightmares, he means. "And I just... My sister, she would stay with me, and it always helped."
"Your sister isn't here," Echo says.
Bellamy's eyes sadden."Yeah. I know."
She frowns. "So then..."
Bellamy's gaze flits away again. "You don't have to, obviously, but... can you stay?"
"Yes," she says. "I'll stay."
He shuffles to one side of the bed. “Would you… lie down with me?”
Echo has never lain with anyone she hasn’t had sex with before. She’s never lain with someone outside of the context of espionage. But Bellamy is the only good thing in her entire life right now, the only reason she’s even alive in the first place, and she can’t possibly deny him.
“Like… this?” She lies down, stiff as a board.
Bellamy shifts and snuggles up next to her, wrapping his arms around her waist. He’s uncomfortably hot and completely drenched in sweat and his breath reeks from vomiting, but Echo stays where she is.
She stays, and as his breathing evens out, she thinks that maybe, just maybe, she doesn't mind this at all.

Day 37
100 Days of 100 Prompts
Clarke jerks up and looks around with wide eyes. Everything around her seems much larger than normal like it was made for someone twice her size and it’s that detail that sticks out to her first. Then she sees the actual objects and metal walls and knows she’s on the ark, or part of it. She doesn’t remember the rooms being so large though. As she stumbles out of bed she notices her feet and hands are smaller and her center of gravity is different. She stumbles on skinny legs and looks down at herself in horror. Her first thought, embarrassingly, is ‘My boobs are gone.’ Her next thought as she stares at her gangly limbs is, ‘What age am I?’ She rushes out of her room and over to her parents room. She slides the door open and runs up to her dad who looks younger than she ever remembers seeing him before. “Dad!” She shakes his shoulder and he grumbles, “Dad! Get up!” “What is it, pumpkin?” He mumbles as he sits up in bed. “How old am I right now? What year is it?” She’s actually in a full blown panic by the time he squints at her. Jake rubs his hand over his face and sighs before getting up and leading her into the living room. He sits on the couch and Clarke doesn’t exactly scramble up but it’s a close thing, she has to hop a bit for her butt to clear the cushion. “Now, what’s this all about? Did you have a bad dream?” “No. When I went to bed last night I was 24 years old and my daughter was sleeping next to me. When I woke up I looked like this and we are back on the Ark. I have no idea what’s going on but I need to get back to Madi. God!” She bursts out as another thought occurs to her, “Bellamy is going to panic when he finds out I’m gone. Dad, I have to get back to my family!” She’s breathing sharply and Jake is fully awake after her mini tirade. “Okay, calm down Clarke.” His mind races, “You said you were 24 when you went to bed last night. You have 24 years worth of memories or did you just dream of being older?” He’s trying to get her to see logically that this is just a product of a dream. “No, I have 24 years worth of memories. Ask me anything.” Clarke understands his process by now and knows he will need to work through his own steps to come to terms with this. The familiar cool logic of her dad does help to calm her though. “Okay, What do we do for your birthday next year?” “I don’t even know how old I am right now so I don’t know which birthday you’re asking about.” She rolls her eyes at him. He smiles and answers, “You’re six Clarke.” She nods and then thinks, “That was a really long time ago. I know Wells got sick for one of my early birthdays. You got me a sketchpad for my 8th birthday.” She tries to think back but huffs in exasperation, “It doesn’t matter, it’s not like you’ll know if I’m telling the truth or not.” She thinks about it for a minute and tries to think if there is anything she knows, that she shouldn’t at this age, that would prove her story. “Okay, look, I’m just gonna tell you what I remember happening.”
[She can tell him football scores from the games they watched when she was older. He can check on the tv/tablet She tells him about the oxygen problem and going to earth. That there are people there who survived and they can too but another apocalypse is coming. She tells him about Bellamy and his sister Octavia after SWEARING him to silence on the matter. Like, don’t you dare do anything to hurt them! She explains everything that happened on the ground and about the grounders. He takes it all in and looks stunned. He grabs a recorder and asks her to start over. She huffs out a sigh but does and he stops and asks her questions sometimes. She answers. She even speaks a couple phrases in Trig for him and explains the language. They take a break and Abby wakes up at some point and goes to work after being vaguely waved off by Jake. “So you believe me?” Clarke asks. Jake looks mildly disturbed, “There are too many details for this to be a random dream. I don’t know what I believe other than that I need to look into this. If any of this is true… “ He shakes his head and they start again. Maybe he asks if she knows where Bellamy lives, wants to verify Octavia. She tells him everything she knows about the Blakes but other than the fact that they’re from Factory station she has no idea where to find them. He looks it up and they head off. She again swears him to silence and makes him promise to not hurt them or scare them. Aurora answers the door and Bellamy is still there (maybe its the weekend and not a school day) Clarke grins and rushes up to hug Bellamy. Jake smiles nervously and asks if they can come in and talk to her about something. They step in and Aurora shuts the door behind her. There’s no couch or anything to sit on, it’s just one room. He apologizes and explains that his daughter had this crazy dream about Bellamy and Octavia and thinks they are going to go to Earth with her. Aurora is freaked out obviously. Jake can see it in her face and rushes to reassure her that they wont tell anyone, he justed wanted to verify his daughters story because it’s crazy but it could save lives. And maybe Bellamy or Octavia remembers too. Maybe O knocks on the floor and Bellamy jumps before giving his mom a nervous look. She nods and they open the hiding spot for O to crawl out.
She has a triumphant look on her face and rushes to hug Clarke. “I told him it was true, they didn’t believe me! Hi Clarke!” “Octavia! You remember it all too?” She’s stunned and excited. “Getting locked up in the skybox, Bel shooting that asshole to get on the drop ship and coming to earth with us, Lincoln.” The last bit is said so wistfully that Clarke hugs her. “What’s the last thing you remember? For me, it was six years after praimfaya and fucking McCreary dropped that hydrolythium bomb on Shallow Valley. We had just made it up to the Eligius ship and were figuring out what to do. I went to sleep with Madi in my arms and then woke up here.” “Same for me. I remember talking to Diyoza and getting left out of those discussions.” Her voice is slightly bitter which sounds odd on a five year old. Clarke’s face scrunches up, “O,” she hesitates. Octavia waves it off, “No, I get it. I was Blodreina. I don’t know if I can be redeemed from that.” Clarke’s features harden, “You did what you had to do to ensure the survival of your people.” She falters a moment and then adds, “in the bunker. Out of it… “ She gives a big sigh, “It’ll just take some time. You know all the things Bellamy and I have put each other through and we always forgive each other.” Octavia snorts, “That’s different. It’s you and Bellamy. The two of you would die for each other. In fact, you have.” She says pointedly, “You stayed behind during Praimfaya so that he could make it back to the ring and live. No matter how much shit you put each other through,” O shakes her head, “It was a shitty situation for everyone. You forgave him for putting the flame in your daughters head, Clarke. He’ll forgive you for leaving him in the fighting pits to save her.” She hesitates and then adds, “I am sorry by the way... for sending out that assassin.” Clarke bites her lip and then shakes her head, “You had to have known I would kill him. I don’t know why you tried honestly. But I get why you did it. We’ll be okay.”
Jake and Aurora are stunned. Bellamy is just looking back and forth between them as they talk. Bellamy would be 11 years old right now.
“Even if it was a really detailed dream, kids don’t talk like that. Hell, adults don’t talk like that. That’s not normal, right?” He asks as he looks to Aurora. She shakes her head vaguely with her mouth still hanging open.
“Um, sorry, dad. We’ll switch to trig for personal conversations so we don’t freak you out.” “I don’t think it would help much to hear my daughter speaking in another language she learned on the ground.” Clarke shrugged, “It might.”
So anyway, Bellamy starts asking questions now that he knows it’s real. He humored O before but he pays more attention now. Octavia has no problem answering any of them but Clarke reminds her he’s still just a kid and tells her to not freak him out too much. O snorts, “At least I don’t have to deal with you two making gooey eyes at each other at this age.” Clarke kicks her lightly
Later they go to bed and wake up when they are older. Do they time jump to like 10-11 years old and then 15-16 and so on or just all the way back to the future? If we do short jumps forward, we can see more gradually how things happen. Like maybe the first five years are spent trying to fix the oxygen. Then after that it’s about getting the exodus project up and running. Maybe Abby runs for chancellor and gets it instead of Jaha. Maybe with each jump the memories get fuzzier because the past is changing. So eventually they get the Ark fixed up to last a while longer and take the exodus down early. They will be dealing with a young Lexa as commander and Clarke or Jake in Clarke’s place will warn her about Costia’s capture by Queen Nia. So they have time to explain to Lexa, deal with the bunker situation, get night blood made, negotiate with the mountain men, and find another bunker to fix up like The Greenbrier in WV. Obviously the Blakes get on the Exodus. Maybe they hold a lottery for all stations to have a chance once they have the essential personnel selected. Clarke of course argues for certain people and warns against others. So they are on the ground and praimfaya is over and eden is crawling with scientists and farmers and builders. They use Monty’s algae idea to make the soil arable and start trying at the edges of eden and around the bunkers. Eligius comes down and gets accepted easily(ish) after someone snipes McCreary. Or Jake explains the situation to Diyoza and she does it herself. So they’ve got homes built and a farm and are spreading out and repopulating when Clarke and Octavia come to. They are shocked by the differences and their old memories start to fade and have that dream like quality to them. Octavia is married to Lincoln and they have a two year old daughter. Clarke is married to Bellamy and they have a kid or two as well. Everyone is happy. HEA
(Just to explain a bit of my thought process: They couldn’t just stay in their younger bodies with their older memories because then Clarke and Bellamy would never be equals at all. So they go back to being kids with no memories of what happened but Jake has his recording and Clarke was thorough. The two families remain close and of course Bellamy remembers what the girls talked about. Eventually when she is old enough, they do develop crushes on each other and try dating. The girls had everything explained to them when they were old enough but don’t really remember it, until later at least and by then it just seems like a bad dream.)

Tanked
The Guide to the Unique Hobby of Aquascaping
Tumblr media
Imagine yourself sitting at the doctor’s office in the waiting room. There are small plastic toys strewn around the room for kids to use as they wait impatiently. Flyers and pamphlets all around the walls with information about your health. And lastly, sitting at waist height is an aquarium with fish and corals covering the bottom of the tank. While many people think of aquariums as places to hold aquatic pets’ others find it to be a bit more than just that.
Aqua-scaping and aquarium building is an extremely fascinating art. When asked what art is many people will give you answers like “paintings,” “Sculptures,” and even films, but if you ask an aquascape enthusiast you’ll probably get the answer, “living.” In many ways an aquarium is a living piece of art created by someone with a keen eye for what looks natural and still beautiful in its own manmade way.
Many different bits and pieces of what makes art, are displayed in aquascapes and aquariums all around the planet. Textures, lines, colors, all these factors are key to creating a unique aquascape environment. The colors of aquatic plants have a large range and can make or break an aquascape. Certain plants like the Rotala H’ra which is a long-stemmed plant that slowly turns red as it grows towards the light add an element that can bring more life and color to an aquarium where many plants tend to be bright and green-leafed.
Spencer Johndro, an aquarium expert at Petco offered some interesting information regarding the small details behind aqua-scaping, “Creating a natural aquascape is not as easy as many beginners believe it to be.  There are a lot of pieces that can make or break the scape.” He continued to share with me that the flow of water is important to reach around the entirety of the tank so that there is not algae built up along the edges and bottom. “Algae can severely damage your plants as it acts as competition for nutrients in the water column as well as blocking the light for the plants.”
I remember my passion for aquascaping starting during my first winter break from Endicott College. Being home for so long with too much free time gave me time to explore the internet and then one day I found a small YouTube channel “Foo the Flowerhorn.” They created short videos with many different aquascapes which were very eye-catching. Remembering the first video I saw from their channel was a video of a Volcano themed aquascape that was overgrown by moss as water flowed down the edges of the lava rack positioned like Mt. Vesuvius. I just had to try it!
Tumblr media
In the process of creating an own aquascape you have to consider the size of my aquarium as well as the information Mr. Johndro offered me. For me, I had a small cube aquarium that is 10.5inx10inx10in and holds roughly three gallons of water inside. Not very much for space but still enough to get a unique scape created. I was also going to implement a small filter and a heater to keep the aquarium at an ideal temperature. “Filters are vital to creating a sustainable ecosystem and without one that there are many possibilities for bad health in your fish and plants,” Spencer said. I knew in my head I wanted a small piece of hardscape, which generally means a rock formation comprised of smaller rocks or even some bogwood to create hiding spots and cover for fish. “Adding hardscape is really important for creating breaks in the plant-life as all that green can washout the aquascape.” At Petco there were not many options for hardscape, but one piece of bogwood managed to stand out.
After grabbing the hardscape and the plants I wanted to use in order to create my aquascape I looked into finding water conditioner that would allow for the plants to take nutrients from the surface as well as in the substrate. The substrate is the bottom layer of gravel and sand that covers the floor and is one of the most important pieces of the aquascape. Without it, keeping the plants and the nutrients in the soil would be difficult and harmful to any fish living in the scape.
With all the materials I needed I was ready to get started. I first with the substrate, I put some old pebbles along the bottom of the tank and stuck root tabs which are nutrient rich tablets useful for plant growth “and long-term sustainability.”
Tumblr media
Then I covered it in sand in order to keep those nutrients within the substrate and not escaping into the water column. I grabbed my small log and slid it into a position I thought would work best for the scape. It was a tight squeeze but looked really good as it found its way to a natural position.
Tumblr media
Now it was time for the plants. I had to poke small holes into substrate in order to plant the flowers very similar to how people plant flowers in gardens. Once I placed my plants into position, I covered the holes back up making sure the plants would not come free from the sand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I began the long process of filling the aquarium up with water from the tap and as I did the sand began to move around on the bottom, but quickly settled into a resting position.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I filled the aquarium up with water the plants began to lift their leaves upward stretching upward towards my ceiling. I reached into my Petco bag and pulled out my two secret weapons, ‘API Quick Start’ and ‘AQUEON Aquarium Plant Food.’ The quick start formula allows for, well, a quick start to an aquarium allowing for the immediate introduction of fish and other aquatic critters. “I personally enjoy API’s products as they have always provided me with the best support in the stores aquariums as well as back home.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I remembered I still needed to put my filter and heater in the aquarium and realized the log would have to move to make things fit. I moved pieces around and finally came to a conclusion with my final product, a small and quite cramped looking scape, but nothing a fish or small invertebrate would not call home.

What to look for when buying Spirulina Fish Foods
Before purchasing any fish feed that contains spirulina, make sure you know that too much or not enough spirulina is not good for your colonists. It is possible to have a basic fish diet that contains spirulina algae as a key ingredient and can be an effective diet for most aquatic animals.
The truth is, carnivores can also benefit from consuming spirulina-based flakes before feeding, as the majority of wild carnivores get more nutrients from the intestinal tract of the fish they eat.
Keep in mind that too much spirulina in fish food can cause the fish’s immune system to malfunction and can lead to stress for the fish; on the other hand, an insufficient amount would not provide the benefits that spirulina could offer.
Your fish will need 10-20% Spirulina to get more benefits; however, you also should not provide them beyond 20% if you do not want them to get sick. It is good to note that some brands of premium fish food products that are highly recommended also do not contain spirulina at the maximum level, so you should be careful.
Before investing in a specific spirulina-based fish food product, it is convenient to first conduct research, compare the ingredients, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the product. Don’t just base your purchase on the fish food price tag, but focus more on quality and ingredients. Also check if the product is highly recommended by many fish hobbyists and consumers.

The 100 Fic: Malware (1/3)
Summary: Just a few months into Spacekru’s stay in space, the Ring begins to malfunction and life support systems start failing. Spacekru needs to learn to work together quickly if they want to live. If they don’t, the very place that had been their salvation just might kill them.
Relationships: Canon relationships hinted at; Spacekru focus

because why finish my wips when I can start a NEW fic because I’m terrible at that
(read on ao3)
Part I: Program Failure
Two months after they arrive in space, the lights flicker off without warning, and the Ring plunges into sudden darkness. Even the emergency light strips running along the hallway floors fail. Without the lights, and with only the darkness of space coming in through the windows, the Ring falls into a darkness so complete and impenetrable it seems to seep into the residents’ very skin.
Inside the room that hosts the algae farm, Monty, Harper, and Murphy halt. Harper, halfway through cleaning the filter inside the algae tank, freezes, afraid to damage it accidentally. Murphy waves a hand in front of his own face; it’s impossible to see, even just inches away from his eyes.
“Well, that’s not good,” he mutters and hears Monty’s answering snort from somewhere to his left.
“I hope they don’t stay off for long,” Harper says, her annoyance almost palpable. “I can’t move.”
“Neither can we,” Murphy says. “I can’t see a damn thing. I’d run into a wall if I tried.”
“You’re not stuck with your hand in the algae tank,” she snaps. She’s gotten used to digging around in it, but it’s far less enjoyable when she can’t see or move. The algae floats gently in the water, occasionally brushing up against her hand; without her sight, the sensation is startling every time. The hair on the back of her neck stands on end. She tries to carefully pull it free, but it bumps up against something and she falls still immediately, filled with panic. This is their only food source; she can’t risk it.
It’s as if Monty knows that Murphy is opening his mouth for a comeback – and in all likelihood, he does, considering Murphy and Harper’s daily arguments have become almost routine at this point – because he quickly interjects. “I’m sure Raven’s going to fix it now.”
“How the hell is she going to get there?” Murphy asks. No one answers him for a moment. The visual of Raven stumbling blindly down the hallway, running into walls and tripping over hidden obstacles, is all too easy to picture.
“Surely someone has a light of some sort,” Harper offers slowly, then shrugs, despite the fact that no one can see it. The other two hum in agreement. Neither of them sound very convinced.
But there’s nothing they can do to help – there’s nothing they can do at all but wait.
The silence that falls between the three is uncomfortable, made even worse by the utter darkness. Murphy fumbles with his jacket sleeve just for something to do, and the shuffling of the fabric is loud in the quiet room. The sudden blindness is irritating enough, but the ever-present tension between him and his current company grows worse without a job to focus on. He’s sure Harper and Monty’s silence is only because of his presence in the room; they’d probably have preferred to be trapped without him around. He can’t say he blames them; he still doesn’t really get along with either of them on the best days, and there’s no one he really wants to get trapped in the dark with other than Emori – who, incidentally, is the only one here he absolutely trusts not to jump him with his back turned.
“How much light does the algae need?” he asks, partially due to real worry, but mostly just to break the silence.
“More than this,” Monty answers. “But it can handle not having any for a little bit. I’ll start getting worried if they stay off for a couple hours.”
No one has to say they hope it doesn’t take that long, but Harper mutters, “They better not,” under her breath anyway.
Luckily, it doesn’t. After forty minutes of stilted conversation – topics ranging from how much they miss real food to what might be happening in the bunker – the lights flicker back on. The three of them blink into the sudden brightness, their eyes re-adjusting slowly.
Harper carefully pulls her hand free from the filter and out of the tank. The skin is pruny from the water. She shakes it dry.
“Well, that sucked,” Murphy voices, and the other two murmur their agreement. “Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.”
--
Bellamy is mending a pair of pants when the lights fail a second time. In the sudden darkness, he loses track of the needle and pricks his finger, then swears at the unexpected jolt of pain. Blindly, he drops the pants on the table in front of him and pulls his hand away, not wanting to get blood on the fabric, even if the wound is small and barely bleeding. It’s hard enough to wash clothing on the Ring; it’s nearly impossible to remove stains.
He’s sitting in what’s generally become known as the common area, where the seven of them sporadically gather during free time or for meals. Unfortunately, he’d been the only one present when the lights went out, and loneliness is quick to settle in beside the darkness.
For a few minutes, Bellamy waits in silence and weighs his options. Then, with a sigh, he pushes himself out of his seat and stumbles forward. He walks carefully towards where he believes the door to be, hands outstretched in front of him to avoid a concussion. The cold metal of the Ark walls brushes against his outstretched palms, and he feels along it until he finds the door.
He keeps his right hand on the wall as he makes his way through the hallway, trailing it along the walls so he has some sense of where he is. The darkness in the Ring is terrifying; Bellamy doesn’t think that he’s ever experienced a darkness so absolute before. There had always been some source of light aboard the Ark no matter the time, and even Earth at night had the moon and stars. This utter blackness is completely new and horrible; it makes him feel vulnerable and powerless.
After a few months aboard the Ring, he’s managed to form a complete mental map of the place. He’d never known Go-Sci Ring well when he lived on the Ark, since there had never been much reason for him to go there, so he’d made a habit of walking the halls and taking note of the place that would be their home for the next five years.
After all, supplies and resources are the difference between survival and death. It was crucial they take note of what they had available to them, and, if Bellamy was going to keep all of them alive until they could reach Earth again, it was important that he knew every inch of their new home. Survival is a team sport, of course – he knows it doesn’t lie entirely on his shoulders, but he can’t help feel responsible for the people he convinced to head back into space with him. It had been his idea to go get Raven that had landed them all here.
And he can’t let anything happen to anyone – not after – well. He shakes his head to clear his thoughts and knock the guilt away. It clings stubbornly anyways, as it always does.
Memorizing the Ring seems to be coming in handy now, at least. For the most part, he can remember which hallways to take even if he can’t see them – but it’s still slow going. At one point, he realizes he must have gone too far without turning and has to double back until he locates the hallway he needs with his hand.
Eventually, there is light up ahead, standing out like a beacon. As the shapes of the walls begin to take shape, Bellamy quickens his pace towards the light.
The system control room is lit by a multitude of computer screens. It’s a dim light, but it seems bright in the darkness. Raven stands in front of the screens, illuminated by the glow, eyes trained on the lines and lines of code scrolling by, her brow wrinkled with concentration, hands hovering hesitantly over the keys. She doesn’t look up as he enters the room.
“How’d you get here so fast?” he asks, because he’s amazed one of them made it here without hurting themselves, let alone two of them.
Raven waves a hand distractedly to her left where a tablet sits on the table beside her. “I always keep it with me. It took me too long to find this room last time. It’d be better if we had flashlights, but it works.” She worries at her lip with her teeth, eyes narrowing at something hidden within the code. All of it looks like nonsense to Bellamy.
He comes to stand beside her and studies her out of the corner of his eyes. It’s easy to read the exhaustion and stress lining her face, and he wishes he could help her carry the burden of repairing the Ring somehow. Monty can help her with the machinery, especially now that his hands are healed, but Raven’s the only one who can understand the various computer systems keeping everything running. Her time with ALIE had some benefits, at least.
“Any idea what’s wrong?”
Raven doesn’t reply, but he gets his answer in the way her face hardens.
Without warning, she slams a hand against the table beside her; the resulting bang echoes loudly through the room. Bellamy jumps, startled.
Raven breathes heavily. “I can’t read code the way I used to,” she admits quietly, like a dirty secret, voice straining between clenched teeth. “There’s whole sections I can’t even understand.”
It’s a lot like forgetting how to speak a foreign language you once knew, Raven thinks – like when her abuelita died and her mother stopped speaking Spanish completely and the words gradually faded from her mind, bit by bit, every year. She still has some of the vocab, and she can remember the basic structure, but she can’t speak it fluently like she could when she had the chip. Every day she seems to forget a little more.
“If I still had ALIE in my head,” she starts.
“You’d be dead,” Bellamy interrupts. It’s a simple answer, as if it isn’t the complicated thing she’s made it out to be – as if she doesn’t spend hours debating if the threat of death due to ALIE’s code was worth the knowledge it gave her.
Back on Earth, she hadn’t thought so. Anything was worth not dying, right? But here in space, when their very lives might depend on it, ALIE’s code seems so much more tempting; she almost feels regretful for destroying it.
“But I’d know what’s happening.” She wants to cry. Or scream. Her frustration grows inside her like a wild animal, vicious and untamed.
“That’s not worth your life, Raven.”
“If the Ark is malfunctioning, it might cost everyone their lives,” she snaps. She wants to be angry at something besides herself; Bellamy’s just an easy target.
He doesn’t take it to heart. Instead, he places a reassuring hand on her shoulder, and Raven can’t help but think Bellamy is a better friend than she is. She feels guilty for that too.
“You’ll figure it out.” His voice rings with certainty. She wishes she could believe him, but optimism grows harder and harder for her to grasp, disappearing beneath the pile of problems the Ark throws at them. She’d promised them safety on the Ring, but she’s terrified she won’t be able to deliver. After escaping Grounders and Mountain Men and Praimfiya, is her incompetence going to be what kills her friends?
After almost an hour, the lights flicker back on by themselves, just as they had the last time, and Raven isn’t any closer to understanding why.
--
The third time almost goes completely unnoticed. It’s what passes for nighttime aboard the Ring, and, in a rare occasion, all seven occupants are asleep at the same time. The malfunction might have been missed entirely if the heating hadn’t shut off as well.
It grows very cold over the next few hours.
Harper wakes with a start, the clicking sound of her chattering teeth hitting her ears before she’s fully aware of herself. Her body is shaking with the cold, and she grabs at their blankets, curling herself under them in search of warmth. It takes her a moment to register the weight on the other end of the bed shifting as Monty goes to stand, but as she does, she reaches blindly towards him.
“Why’s it so cold?” she asks groggily, teeth still clicking together.
“I think the heating shut off again,” he replies softly.
Sudden light fills the room. Harper squeezes her eyes shut against it and rubs a hand over her face. Even her skin feels icy. Slowly, she opens her eyes again, blinking as they adjust. Monty’s holding an emergency flashlight in his hand – one of the few they’d managed to find after the second malfunction – and he’s pulling on his jacket.
“I’m going to go help Raven. Go back to sleep.”
“I’ll try,” she says, knowing it will likely be useless until it warms up a bit more. Luckily, they’d all stockpiled extra blankets in their rooms after the first few nights onboard the Ring when all the programs had been finicky and the heating unit had struggled. She piles all of them on top of herself and hopes that Monty and Raven can figure things out quickly.
By morning – or at least, what feels like it might be morning, though it’s hard to tell without any light at all – Harper gives up trying to sleep. She’s done little more than shiver for the past several hours, and, even if she can’t help the others, getting up and moving might warm her body up more than lying here will.
They don’t have another light in their room, so she uses the walls to find her way in the dark, wandering aimlessly with nothing but a prayer to help her find where Raven and Monty are. She gets lucky – as she turns a corner, she sees two figures illuminated by their own flashlight. Emori and Murphy stare back at her in confusion. Murphy looks even grumpier than normal, his hair a wild mess and his face wrinkled with a deep frown. Emori beside him is bundled in several blankets, nearly hidden away entirely beneath the fabric, her eyes and nose the only part of her exposed. She’s still shivering.
“Do you know what the fuck is happening?” Murphy asks.
Harper shakes her head. She wishes she had thought to bring a blanket like Emori. Her teeth are still chattering. “Monty went to go help Raven. I’m trying to find them.”
Murphy glances at her empty hands and raises an eyebrow. “How were you going to find them without a light?”
Like usual, it’s taken Murphy very little time to make her want to hit him. She’s starting to think it’s his only real talent. “Monty took ours. But I didn’t want to just stay in the room.”
“We can all go find them,” Emori says, though it’s hard to understand her with how violently her teeth are chattering. Murphy wraps an arm around her and rubs at the giant mass of blankets where her shoulder might be. She leans into it. Harper can’t help but stare; it’s almost sweet – or it would be, she thinks, if it was anyone but Murphy.
They make an awkward traveling party. The only sound accompanying them are their footsteps and the chattering of teeth, all three too unsure of their company to speak much. Uncomfortable as it is, Harper’s grateful for it. She has a hard time stomaching Murphy on his best days, and he’s clearly pissed off. The cold is bad enough; it’s a relief to not be forced to suffer Murphy’s stupid comments along with it.
Eventually, they hear talking in the distance and follow the sound into the only other area of the Ring with any light. Inside they find the others. Raven, with a blanket slung over her shoulders like a cape, is typing furiously at the keyboards of one of the computers, looking frazzled and angry. Her hair is loose for once, and Harper finds it an odd sight; she can’t recall ever seeing it loose from its ponytail before.
Monty hovers at Raven’s shoulder, wrapped in his own blanket and clutching the ends close to keep any air from burrowing into the cracks. His head is bent low, watching the lines of code appear on the monitor as Raven types.
Bellamy stands beside them both, without a blanket of his own and clearly suffering for it, absentmindedly rubbing his hands up and down his arms to try and warm them. Echo is also there, standing apart from the others and away from the light, tucked into the shadows of the room. She’s clearly handling the cold the best of all of them; she wears the cloak she had first arrived in when she’d come to save them before Praimfiya and it seems to provide enough warmth for her, as she’s not shivering or moving to warm herself up. Harper wonders if it’s because she grew up in a land known for its ice and snow, or if she’s just good at hiding her discomfort.
“Hey,” Bellamy says as he turns to watch them enter. “What are you guys doing up?”
“It’s fucking freezing,” Murphy snaps. “How the hell are we supposed to sleep like this?”
“I’m working on it,” Raven snaps back, not even turning to look at him. “If you’re not going to be any help, leave the room.”
Murphy raises his hands in surrender, even if she can’t see them, and takes the hint. He takes a seat on one of the chairs and slouches low in it, keeping his mouth blissfully shut.
Harper goes immediately to Monty, and he automatically raises an arm with half of the blanket for her to duck under with him, nestling close to his side as much for heat as for comfort. He smiles at her; it looks strained. “Any progress?” Her heart sinks into her stomach as he shakes his head. Raven grunts out a sound that might also be a no, though it’s hard to tell. It could as easily be a reaction to what she’s reading.
“Raven has a bit of an idea what’s happening, though,” Bellamy says, in an obvious and unsuccessful ploy to get their spirits up. In the dim light, Harper can make out the dark circles carved under his eyes and the wrinkles in his brow she swears hadn’t been there before the Ring. He goes back to rubbing furiously at his arms.
“Care to share with us?” Murphy asks.
“Actually trying to concentrate,” Raven mutters.
“You want me to drag him out of the room?” Harper whispers to her, only partly joking. If he’s distracting Raven, she won’t hesitate to kick him out – or find some other way to shut him up. Knocking him out for a few hours just might help improve everyone’s mood.
Raven’s concentration on the code breaks just long enough for her to smile at Harper.
“Oh,” Bellamy says suddenly in surprise, drawing Harper’s attention. “Thanks.” She turns in time to see him accepting one of Emori’s blankets from her. Harper wonders just how many she has on her; there seem to still be at least two left.
“You looked cold,” Emori explains, shrugging, the movement nearly masked beneath her layers. Then, she moves back to Murphy’s side, pulling up a chair beside him.
Harper keeps watching her for a moment, thrown by the gesture. She doesn’t know Emori well, but it was hard to trust anyone who was close with a person like Murphy.
“Dammit!” Raven’s sudden shout makes all of them flinch. A wordless groan of frustration bursts from her mouth, and she scrubs aggressively at her face, dragging a hand back through her hair roughly. There’s a beat of silence. Then, she turns her chair around to face the room.
“It’s like a power surge,” she explains. “There’s some program running that’s taking up a lot of power – only I can’t figure out what it is or how to shut it off. And it’s not exactly a power surge because if the lights were just blowing out, they’d stay off until I fixed them. But they come back on shortly after whatever program it is stops running. It’s like –“ She breaks off with an agitated sigh, fumbling for words. “It’s like the Ark’s intentionally shutting the lights and the heat off to divert power to this other function.”
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Monty says slowly, face scrunched up in thought.
“You’re telling me,” Raven mutters.
“Mind sharing with the class?” Murphy asks, eyeing them and the computers behind them warily.
“Well,” Monty says slowly. “The Ark shouldn’t be able to process something like that.” He turns to Raven. “Right?”
“No. At least, I didn’t think it could – but I’m a mechanic, not a programmer. I never worked on the computer systems. But that level of programming – no, the Ark shouldn’t be able to do that.”
“I’m still lost,” Bellamy says after a moment. “What do you mean the Ark shouldn’t be able to do this?”
“It – “ Raven hesitates, trying to find the words. She glances at Monty and looks relieved when he takes over.
“If what Raven thinks is happening is true, that means that the Ark computer system is currently deciding which programs to shut off to divert power to another function. But no one would have ever programmed it to shut off the lights and heat, no matter what else the computer needed to do. So the fact that it’s doing that means the Ark itself is making a decision of which programs to turn off.”
“It can think?” a quiet, terrified voice asks. The rest of the room startles and turns at once towards Echo, as if they’d all forgotten she was there at all. What little they can see of her face in the shadows of the room looks pale, eyes blown wide with terror. She chances a glance towards the computer screens, shifting her stance slightly towards something more defensive.
“Well, that’s just it – it shouldn’t be able to. Some computers can, just not this one.” Echo doesn’t look very reassured. Neither do any of the others. They eye the screens with suspicion. “Someone must have programmed it this way before they left,” Monty concludes, looking at Raven.
She shrugs. “I guess. Maybe if they thought they were all going to be on Earth and needed it to still run some program, they’d tell it it’s okay to turn off life-support systems.”
“Life-support systems?” Emori asks, panicked.
Raven waves a hand at her that’s less comforting than it’s meant to be. “We’re fine. As long as none of us freeze, it’s not life-threatening yet.”
“What about oxygen though?” Murphy asks. “That’s life-threatening.”
“I don’t know,” Raven snaps. “It’s not like I can predict what’s going to break down next.”
“Oh, real fucking great.”
“You want to get up here and do better?” Raven nearly yells. “Be my fucking guest, Murphy.”
“Alright, alright, stop,” Bellamy steps between them. The blanket tumbles from his shoulders. “Right now it’s just the lights and heat, right?”
Raven nods stiffly. “Right now,” she agrees.
“So we’re in no danger of dying just yet,” Bellamy concludes.
“Extreme cold is dangerous,” Echo argues. “And none of you sky people are built for it.”
“And the algae needs light and heat to survive; without that we’re dead too,” Monty adds.
“Okay. But the last two times the lights came back on automatically. So we just wait it out.”
“We could build a fire,” Echo suggests, as Monty shakes his head at Bellamy’s suggestion.
“Too much heat fluctuation will still kill the algae,” he argues. “This can’t keep happening.”
A high-pitched, nearly hysterical laugh draws all eyes to Murphy. He’s hunched over with his head in his hands. “I’m going to starve to death anyways,” he snorts, unaware of the eyes on him. “Should’ve stayed in the fucking lighthouse.”
Emori crowds closer to him, whispering something in his ear. He shakes his head slightly, but it doesn’t seem to improve his mood.
Not that anyone feels in the highest of spirits. Monty’s prediction seems to clog the air, making it harder to breathe.
“No, we’re not,” Raven says finally, resolute. She turns back to the screens and resumes digging through the code. “I won’t let us.”
--
No one sleeps much that night. In the morning, they’re all still huddled in blankets in the Earth Monitoring Systems room, Echo alone in her corner, Murphy and Emori wrapped around each other near the door, Harper drifting off in her own blanket cocoon, Monty passed out in a chair, and Bellamy trying not to fall asleep on his feet as he stands dutifully at Raven’s side.
“I’M THE FUCKING BEST!”
Raven’s shout makes them all jump. Murphy knocks his head on the wall with a loud bang. Monty falls out of his chair. Echo sits up with a knife in her hands.
“You’re what?” Monty asks groggily as he pulls himself up.
Raven spins to look at them all. The pride on her face nearly masks the exhaustion. “I know what’s happening,” she tell them, voice giddy.
“Well don’t leave us hanging,” Murphy says, rubbing at his head.
“The Ring is shutting off the lights and heat to divert power to the satellite. It keeps trying to send a message to Earth.”
“Why?” Bellamy asks.
Raven shrugs. “Not sure. I don’t even know what the message is. I think maybe the Ark tried to get in contact with Earth before they left, and the computer systems just keep trying to send the message. I’m not sure why it’s turning off life-support systems to do it, but that’s what’s happening. And we can stop it.”
The room, as one, exhales a breath of pure relief.
“It’s a little complicated, though,” Raven adds. “There’s some kind of block keeping me from turning off the satellite or stopping the message from sending, and I don’t know enough programming language to get around it. But I have another solution. We can manually disconnect the Satellite. If the Ark can’t access it, it should hopefully stop trying to send the message until I can figure out how to stop it completely.”
“How do we do that?” Harper asks.
“Spacewalking.” She turns to look at Bellamy hopefully. “But I need someone to come with me.”
“Of course,” he tells her, as if surprised she even had to ask.
--
They all gather in front of the airlock to see Raven and Bellamy off.
Raven dresses herself with easy, practiced motions, then helps Bellamy pull his suit and SAFER pack on, quickly walking him through how to use it. She fits their helmets on, raps on Bellamy’s just to see him jump, then gives him a grin and motions for the airlock. He follows her into it and Monty closes the doors behind them.
“Alright,” Raven starts, her voice coming in through the radio as she secures Bellamy’s tether onto his suit. “Monty, we’ll be able to talk to you the whole time we’re out there. This should be a fairly easy fix.” She reaches for her own. “Bellamy, we’re going to –“
The doors to the airlock fly open without warning.
Within seconds, Bellamy and Raven are gone.
