ERA: Medieval, the new Matt Leacock dice game evolved very loosely from Roll Through the Ages, and published by Plan B games. They really went nuts with the physical design of the game, and it looks really nice set up. Dice games are always a bit fraught I find, but I think this one has a chance to have some legs. I playtest games for Matt, and I tend to be involved very early in the process when things are moving pretty quickly. So it’s always fun to see how the published version is different from the last version I played. Roll Through the Ages was a decent game that suffered a bit from being with a not-great publisher and some issues surrounding the trading rules. It feels to me like ERA has adapted better to the constraints of the genre, with a lot more simultaneous play and a cleaner structure.
