I think there's a possibility that Whitebeard and Buckingham Stussy could have been in a relationship, or at least were close enough that he could tolerate her riding around on his shoulder. But the dealbreaker came from Whitebeard not giving her a biological child; either because he didn't have any desire to procreate, he might have been infertile, because he knew the world was already full of orphans who needed a home, or some combination of all of those.

It's why Marco was so certain that Weevil wasn't Whitebeard's biological son. At least, not in the traditional sense *cough clone cough*

Buckingham Stussy, from what I can gather, wanted a trophy son from Whitebeard that she could ride the coattails of into greatness. He knew she wanted children for her own roundabout gain, and not for the joy of having a family.

Fortunately, in a morbid way, the same sickness that eventually contributed to his death had rendered him unable to have biological children, made turning her down a little more easy. Not entirely quick and painless, no, but far more easy than it would have been.

When she saw Whitebeard claim a little stick-thin wraith of a boy as his own after Rocks was killed, she was well beyond fuming. What right did that little bilge rat have in taking on the Newgate name? None!

She had heard about some scientists doing wild cockamamy experiments in cloning technology, and she just so happened to have a strand of that long golden hair she had wanted to run her fingers through… she would have her trophy child yet!

And when she did, they would be coming for that violet eyed brat. Except the violet eyed brat was long gone by the time Weevil was “born”. Ah well. Good riddance. Now just have to clean up the rest of these fake sons and daughters of his and get that inheritance back into the hands it belongs in…

Ugh I was really hoping it wasn’t the weird Weevil mom that was Stussy’s original lol. She is not going to age well. But maybe she’ll be less irritating.

So, I'm not 100% sure how the seraphim are replicated, but it is through having scraped DNA samples from the war lords, as I recall. "augmented with King's Lunarian blood" (thanks Wiki). The seraphim representing warlords who already have a devil fruit also seem to have those abilities.

SO, hypothetically, if there is a seraphim of Law out there, then couldn't it grant Imu or whoever eternal youth? (I guess, at the expense of the death or destruction of the cyborg. I wonder if that is factored in). Law is a paramecia user—the only kind of devil fruit that I think that Vegapunk was able to clone.

However, if a clone has the ability to use the ope ope no mi, it seems it would be too powerful, so I don't know if we'll see a Law seraphim. Also, wouldn't the original warlords (as opposed to seraphim, so I don't mean the original 7 here) know the weakness of their own devil fruit in particular? I wonder if that also contributes to their genetic make-up.

As a flippant thought, all of the seraphim are pretty cute, but Law would look like this:

Even his 10 and 13 year old self are not that much different. So, y'know, upsetting the aesthetic there, Law! Not cute (although, I think he'd be cute), which might be why Edward Weevil won't be a seraphim (but I hope he is).

Buggy's also a paramecia user. I'm assuming that Blackbeard never made it to shichibukai status (shooting straight to emperor), despite Lafitte's tap-dancing entreaties that he be given the title Edit in: @ninhaoma-ya informs me he had a tiny stint as a shichibukai, which is what I thought, before I double guessed (gassed) myself.

In either case, I've got a feeling that there might be a batch of Blackbeard out there, and I think he'd consumed the yami yami no mi by the time Lafitte crashed the shichibukai meeting way back in the Mock Town chapters BUT it's a logia.

Also, Blackbeard had to deliver Ace to the marines somehow, right?

I'm sorry if someone's already posited this and I'm repeating the ideas. I feel as if I haven't seen it put forth. Also, I read in a post somewhere that Vegapunk said they were only able to clone 4 seraphim, but the wiki (not always the greatest source, I know), doesn't mention it, and makes a continual reference to the 7 bukai (cos shichi = 7). Or maybe I'm just reading shichibukai and substituting the 7. Anyway! Munderlings and wusings.

I’m not much into heavy theorising about One Piece, but this thought struck me and I feel the need to share it: what if Weevil is not WB biological son, but his clone? I mean: miss Bucky claims to be his mother and she was part of the MAD scientist, and genetically speaking it would be perfect because obviously Vegapunk can prove the connection, because they share the same DNA.

One Piece Theory Spoilers- Episode 1105 Spoilers

Minor spoilers ahead but spoilers all the same

I've had this theory for awhile and I think shared it on reddit once but now that the anime had caught up, I'm throwing it out there again.

Edward Weevil is likely a poorly made clone of Whitebeard. Might even be a little bit of Frankenstein's monster with bits of the original.

First of all look at his mom. Former Rocks Pirate which connects her to Whitebeard but she is also a self-proclaimed scientist who not only was a freeloader at MADS but was the basis for their first successful clone.

We've seen both Vegapunk and Judge using cloning technology based off their research from MADS, so why wouldn't Miss Buckin also be working on it.

Second just like look at his "scars"

He has one scar completely around his neck, like it was attached. Same for his left arm and around his left eye. We see a lot of scars in One Piece and those aren't battle scars, those are put together like a zombie/Frankenstein monster scars.

For example scars on the left, stitches on the right.

and Zoro and Luffy both have scars that received medical treatment and look more like stitches (Under Luffy's eye and Zoro's chest)

But Weevil's only scars are stitched and tend to wrap around his body.

Also just story wise, why have him? Originally he felt like just a character to shows the chaos post-Whitebeard's death. That he was similar to the Fake Straw Hats in claiming fame. But then he keeps coming back, he defends Sphinx and his mom has all these connections.
