one of my hot takes in relation to the Riddler topic I'm currently ranting about is that his narcissism is actually clearest when he has interactions with Zach. Zach is a dick, that is NOT something I'm about to argue with. His passive ableism is gross and he comes off like a major ass. But if we're being real, his behavior is very Average. He's just an Average asshole. He's not like, especially malicious towards Edward, he's just Generally a dick, but Edward sees EVERYTHING Zach does, and others do that impacts him negatively, as a DELIBERATE and TARGETED slight against him. Narcissistic tendencies don't always manifest as grandiose self-love, MOST cases, in fact, it presents itself as victimization.

On this day, 7 June 2020, Black Lives Matter protesters in Bristol, UK, pulled down a statue of enslaver Edward Colston and threw it into Bristol Harbour. Colston was a wealthy trader of enslaved people, whose company transported more than 100,000 people who were abducted from West Africa and enslaved in the 17th century. Those kidnapped were branded with the initials of Colston's company, RAC. Four people, Sage Willoughby, Rhian Graham, Milo Ponsford and Jake Skuse, were subsequently arrested and charged with criminal damage for their role in the removal of the statue. In the dock, Willoughby argued that having a statue honouring Colston would be like "having a Hitler statue in front of a Holocaust survivor". All four defendants were acquitted by the jury. Willoughby subsequently responded to those who argue that removing statues is trying to change history, stating: "We didn't change history, we rectified it". Carlisle's a pacifist whose entire philosophy revolves around not killing humans period.

The Volturi work on a philosophy of "thou shalt not intervene in human affairs needlessly and draw attention" and have let 3500 years of terrible warlords go by, of which Hitler is merely one in a very long line. There are many people they didn't kill with impunity, including Hitler.

And Edward Cullen was off his rapist and murderer eating bender by 1940, or I'm sure he'd have loved to eat Hitler.
