something people just don’t think about is how often chronically ill and disabled people just don’t have access to good food. not healthy food, good food; well made, tasty meals that don’t come from a jar or a freezer. how many of us are housebound or can’t drive? delivery services only offer within certain distances, if you live outside a city they aren’t an option. many people don’t have the energy or ability to cook for themselves if they have the skill to begin with. many certainly don’t have the ability to learn how. it’s something that goes completely unnoticed, just the opportunity to have a good meal and how much that wears you down

Did timmy.... Change? Like, mentally? When he became a fairy? He acts off about his time as a human, did he forget he ever was one? did he just shove everything in a trauma box and refuse to look at it? And what are the new rules he put in place and why? Just what are the consequences?

Timmy did go through a mental change! Fairies and Humans are fundamentally different at their core, so Timmy changed as he switched between the two.

Many of Timmy's personality traits are amplified once he became a Pixie, such as his selfishness, his stubbornness, and his inability to accept responsibility. Meanwhile other traits are suppressed, such as his empathy, rationality, and his pessimism.

Timmy can mitigate some range of control over it by practicing or avoiding those traits. Although it is rather hard to do, as Fairies can only experience a single emotion at a time.

No but like every time I think about Splinter and what he had to go through just to keep the boys alive, my heart hurts for him so badly. Is he perfect? No not at all, but none of them are and by god does he love his sons.

The fact that all of them are alive, and grew to thrive despite the circumstances surrounding them is a testament of how much Splinter loves his boys. He raised four babies following the most traumatic time of his life, all alone with nothing but the sewers to house them (to hide them.) I feel like he’s not given the credit he deserves for all he’s done.

And I get that it’s easy to hold up his flaws and faults when it comes to parenting, I myself like looking into them because flawed characters are super interesting and said flaws make them more realistic and engaging, but he tries, and again, so many others would have given up on the boys or failed along the way but Splinter didn’t.

He’s their father, for all his faults he did his damndest to make sure they survived.

Asher: Well, we’re running out of options, and you know they’d be happy to help. Atlas: That’s not the point.

Asher: [breathless] If this is about your pride or some shit… Atlas: It’s not. I’ve already agreed to move in with them to save money. I’m not asking them for a loan on top of it.

Asher: It’s an interest free loan. Vendor: Can I help you? Asher: Yes, can I get six of these frozen peaches, please?

Atlas: Interest free or not, it’s a loan that we don’t know how, or when, or even IF, we’d be able to repay. Asher: [sighs, defeated] Fuck. No, you’re right, we can’t do that.

Atlas: There’s no way our storage unit is going to hold all this furniture. I can probably sell the couch. And maybe the bed too since you already have one there. Asher: You don’t have to. My parents are clearing out a room upstairs for you.

Atlas: Why? Asher: Because I know it’s not going to be easy for you living with so many people. The house will never be empty, so I wanted to make sure you have your own space in case you need time alone.

Atlas: … Asher: What? Is that okay?

Atlas: I love you.

Asher: [laughs] We’re never gonna finish packing if we keep taking breaks. Atlas: You’re the one always telling me it’s important to take breaks. Asher: Hmm. Good point.

if sif's island is still physically there, there could be an argument that the inhabitants are also still there and perfectly fine, and the island is just separated from the outside world. the island's separation from the rest of the world happened while sif was on that boat after running away from home. so in this theoretical situation, from sif's parents' pov, they actually ran away and never came back.

do you think their parents ever wonder what happened to them or what he's doing now. if he's living his life away from them in the outside world, eating all the non-veggies to his content, or if something bad happened and that's why they never came back. do you think they tried to go after him, but forgot everything immediately after leaving the island, and are now just living their lives in vaugarde or somewhere else, not knowing that they got there because they went looking for their missing child or that they had a child in the first place. do you think they ever ran into each other at some point and had no idea of their relation to one another.

the quiet tragedy of verin being the one who never quite made it out.

for most of their lives, essek was the one who was entrenched in expectations, in the politics of their den. while verin was stationed far from the heart of the dynasty, ostensibly free from the eyes of his elders, essek was sitting beside their mother in court and speaking before the queen. and it made sense, because essek had always been better at all of it — the posturing, the sweet-talking, the ladder-climbing. his brother the black sleep was still his brother the prodigy; his brother the heretic was still his brother the shadowhand.

but then, essek meets new people and they get through to him and change him and make him softer, make him better (and why them? what is it about them, that they could do what verin never could?) and he runs. he gives up the title and the status and the power and leaves it all (leaves verin) behind.

suddenly, verin is the lone newsoul of den thelyss, the one with all eyes on him, with the expectations meant for two brothers falling squarely on his shoulders and only his in the absence of their other target. he is still the youngest of his den, the one they all watch and wait to be disappointed by, but there is no one to share that burden with anymore and all at once it becomes painfully clear that distance never really was freedom.

essek has a family, then — not a den but a family, with love and trust and care and warmth and all the things essek once called verin childish for craving — and a welcoming home to go to with someone who loves him waiting there and a garden in the front yard, and verin is left still fighting demons under the banner of a god (of a family, of a home) he only half-believes in.

and maybe they see each other more often then. maybe bazzoxan is remote enough that it’s safe for essek to visit in disguise. maybe essek’s friends come too and are kind enough to offer a taste of what essek has now and verin can almost believe it’s his too. maybe essek doesn’t even fight it anymore when verin insists on hugging him. but how much can that really fix? how much can it really change?

an unloved man leaves no one behind when he finally makes a better life for himself, but essek was never an unloved man. not really.
