#for all that i have some beefs with george lucas i DO think that the uhhhhhh decline of star wars in the disney era#(this is not universal and mostly in reference to the latest trilogy and some of the shows)#is due to a loss of message#the reason rogue one and andor are the BEST examples of new star wars is that they are#like the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy#EXPLICITLY antifascist#the original trilogy was made in a time when the echoes of WW2 were much louder and more recent#and the prequels when a lot of the same problems were beginning to stir in american politics#and it makes me fuckin insane because TFA was a GOOD movie!! people criticized it for being too much like#a new hope but like that was FINE for fuck's sake there's nothing wrong with recycling a narrative#as long as you make it new and interesting#but to then come back post 2016 with TLJ??? the milquetoast of it all#you had the absolute perfect setup with the first order as a new uprising of fascism in the wake of the fall of the empire#the alt-right parallels were very clear. the focus on disaffected young men taking up the banner of an evil fallen empire#in the form of kylo was all right there. the narrative of losing loved ones to hate and conspiracy. AND THEN RIAN FUCKING JOHNSON#*takes a few deep breaths*#i don't hate rian johnson i think he's a very competent filmmaker. but he should never have done star wars bc i simply do not think#he UNDERSTANDS star wars#i think he wanted to come in and have some fun with a lot of the hallmarks of star wars. he wanted to deconstruct#(he wanted what kotor2 has and failed miserably tbqh)#and in so doing completely lost the thread of what these movies are about#and then TRoS was just a fucking mess of trying to tie things up#like im certainly not saying i think jj would have made a wonderful perfect trilogy if he'd been given the whole thing but i DO#think it would have been more coherent than what we got#like they could have given it to anybody just give it to someone who fuckin gets it#anyway i love u space grandpa even though i hate you space grandpa and im glad you were always an anti-fascist

TW: This post contains explicit discussions of white supremacy and the alt-right, including mentions of racism and antisemitism.
One of my most impactful recent library reads was Sisters In Hate by Seyward Darby, and I want to take a moment to encourage other white Americans to check it out as we prepare for next years' presidential election and all the shit it's going to kick up.
Sisters In Hate is a book about the role of women in American white supremacist movements and specifically in the alt-right. Darby does a really excellent job of showing just how critical white women are to these hate movements. The book also gives us a detailed look at what radicalization looks like and how that process can be different for different genders.
The book is divided into three sections, each of which follows a real woman through her radicalization into the alt-right. I especially want to draw Tumblr's attention to the story of Ayla, a self-proclaimed "polyamorous, raw foodist-vegan, feminist, pagan" whose radicalization started in college with natural living and homebirth and ended with her running a popular tradwife blog and speaking at the Unite the Right rally.
I think a lot of leftists and liberals feel that we're too smart, or too educated, or too savvy to fall for white supremacist recruitment schemes. We are not. Intelligent, college-educated, left-leaning people are radicalized every day. Some of them are less overtly hateful, like your college friend who starts voting Republican in their 30s. Some of them are like Ayla, and their radicalization takes them all the way to the other end of the political spectrum until they're openly and genuinely calling for a white ethnostate with the same passion they once used to advocate for feminism, racial equity, and queer rights. And we need to remember that any one of us intelligent, college-educated, left-leaning white folks could be in her position, which is why it's so important to learn about radicalization tactics so we can recognize and resist them.
I'm not gonna lie -- this book is hard to read. The text contains racial slurs, white supremacist rhetoric, antisemitism, and anti-Black racism. All of this is condemned by the author, but Darby doesn't shy away from showing just how vile this movement is. I had to take a lot of breaks from this book and read it over several weeks, but I'm very glad I did because I feel like I needed this information.
White supremacist recruitment efforts are going to pick up in the next year, especially if Tr*mp is the Republican nominee for president. Stay informed and stay ready.

Kirkcaldy reportback!
On Saturday the 18th of May 2024 a group of antifascist members of the community disrupted an event organised by Women Won't Wheesht in Kirkcaldy.
These people were workers, locals and members of the public. They were transgender, cisgender, gay and straight. They were unaffiliated with any organisation, group or political party. Their actions were their own and were organised on their own initiative. They acted to protect their community from an intolerant group who aim to plant a seed of cruelty, a seed of hate that would grow and overshadow everything around it, which would poison the earth and kill off wildflower and bramble and thistle alike.
"A community is made up of many different types of people," one member of the group said, "and what makes a community strong is celebrating the diversity of its members and standing in solidarity with those who need it most. Trans people are one of the most marginalised groups of people in society, and yet groups like Women Won't Wheesht seek to sow division in our local communities by painting trans people as a danger. Trans people are part of the fabric of our communities and groups like Women Won't Wheesht have no place in inclusive and safe communities. We all need to stand up against hate speech and protect our neighbours and friends."
Women Won't Wheesht is a hate group which peddles anti-transgender bigotry. Their events, veiled under vague 'concerns about women' have historically been attended by anti-abortion anti-feminist groups such as the Scottish Family Party, homophobes such as the Destiny Church, and members of the fascist Scottish Defence League. Their members also attended rallies organised by the neo-nazi Kelly Jay Keen.
Women Won't Wheesht's rhetoric calls for the elimination of drag queens, transgender and nonbinary people from public life. It is the same rhetoric which was used to murder members of the gay community during the AIDS epidemic. It advocates both social murder (murder by inaction from the state) and violence against transgender people. To achieve this, they bully and harass transgender people in society and online. They publicly share people's addresses and names. They accuse all transgender people of being sexual predators, thereby toxifying and dehumanising them so they are seen as less-than-human. They lobby politicians to spread their hate and appear legitimate.
The anti-transgender reactionary movement in the UK has been called explicitly genocidal by the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention.
We, as proud members of our community, denounce all genocides and any who participate in them. We stand for a world where everyone has the right to speak their mind, where everyone has the right to be who they are. We stand for a world where gay, straight, brown, white, man, woman, and everything in between can live and love together. We cannot stand by and allow Women Won't Wheesht platform to spread hate and cruelty. We are fighting for a kinder, more caring world.
If the members of Women Won't Wheesht reach out to their local queer community, if they choose to talk, and listen, and learn, if they come with humility and gentleness, they will be greeted and welcomed with kindness and respect. We understand that many of those who come to join these movements have done so under a deception. They have been told that their alienation is not due to the United Kingdom's misogynist society and the social murder and violence of neoliberal capitalism, but due to transgender people existing. Many of us have been caught and deceived by such lies too. We have learned, and we have grown.
But if Women Won't Wheesht continue their campaign of violence, they will meet resistance. Their platform will be taken away, because it is by the grace of the people of Scotland that they have it in the first place, and the people of Scotland will not allow genocide of any kind.
At the action on Saturday, members of the public were overwhelmingly in support of transgender liberation.
One organiser said "People of all ages stopped to speak to the outreach team and expressed disgust at the transphobia from the Women Won't Wheesht incomers." Over one hundred trans flags were distributed to supportive people of Kirkaldy.
SOLIDARITY. LOVE AND KINDNESS.
ANTI-FASCISTS OF SCOTLAND.

welp, after years of comics where nothing actually happened, tatsuya finally had someone kill a jewish person on-screen
I'm not posting the strip, obviously, but I've gotten a lot of asks about it, so fine.
Let's recap, for context: The last three months or so of Sinfest have portrayed the Greeks (oh, yeah, Sinfest takes place in ancient Greece now for some reason) as heroically arresting all gays, liberals, BLM protestors, antifascists, and especially trans people and burning all their books and flags (yes, Tats is literally portraying book burning as good here). All of these evil gays are, naturally, controlled by Jewish caricatures who are doing all sorts of evil because "It's in their holy books". These caricatures, abandoning their LGBT/left/etc puppets then poison the water supply out of pure cartoonish evil. This leads to the death of a baby.
One of the caricatures, caught in the act, is going to be hanged but the Anti-Defamation League (portrayed as literally Nosferatu) intervenes. In today's strip, the mother of the baby cuts through the crowd to pull the lever, and the Jewish caricature falls although there's like a 50-50 chance he ends up escaping because Tats always has to lose in his own violent fantasies in order to stay aggrieved.
This is, obviously, Nazi shit. Literal Nazi shit, in fact, glorifying the extrajudicial murder of anyone and everyone Tats hates, full on Day of the Rope shit, an explicit call for a holocaust to kill literally all Jewish people.
I don't know if it's really an escalation, to be honest. Sinfest has been full-on Nazi for months. "Hackshaw1041" on the Sinfest reddit even made this handy chart.
In my mind, Tats has been calling for the murder of Jewish people so explicitly and for so long that actually depicting it on-panel isn't a meaningful change. Apparently a lot of people feel differently, though, surprised and appalled that he went there. The Sinfest subreddit (which is hate-reading rubberneckers, btw, not fans) is having a debate about whether they should continue posting Sinfest strips even to mock and document it, and I've got a bunch of asks. But, like, Ishida has been here for months and he hasn't been hiding it. There's no cutesy wink and nod stuff here.
Tatsuya Ishida is a racist, an antisemite, a homophobe, a transphobe, and basically every kind of bigot imaginable. He's not even comparable to the other big "Bigot Webcomics". Leasebound is a boring slice-of-life comic that dips into transphobic caricatures to be edgy and trial to go viral. Stonetoss is smart enough to avoid being so blatant. Tats is just F.A.T.A.L. now. Which is a comparison I've made before, and it's still true with only a slight update:
Sinfest is a tattoo on Tatsuya Ishida's ass that's a picture of Adolf Hitler's ass.
#Sinfest#antisemitism#tw: antisemitism#Tats is like how HP Lovecraft made all the other guys at the Klan rally uncomfortable#Like get another interest howard

I've watched my current top 3 films of the year all this week; I Saw The TV Glow, Identiteaze and Monkey Man. I'm really fascinated by much all 3 pull on trans narrative in unique yet overlapping ways. One I can definitely speak more to in terms of bts as its my trans sisters film and I had direct influence, but I'm just so happy to see so much excellent trans art all releasing at the same time. Im gonna do a video on Glow, I wont discuss Identiteaze too much publicly unless Im chatting with Jessie about it so both of those I'll expand elsewhere.
Dev Patel is so phenomenal in this film, his directing was exceptional and I am obsessed with the editing and cinematography. On all technical and thematic levels this film is incredibly specific and cohesive. I love how somultaneously antifascist and procommunity this film is. I love that systemic transphobia and police violence are explored explicitly and imo well. This movie handles women better than 99.99% of the entire action genre(and many other genres too). It also says fascists make violence against them necessary, but even as its necessary that violence is never pleasant and costs lives. I cannot lavish it with praise enough.
Anyway if you watch only 3 films from this year; make it these ones.

here, there, be monsters!
here, there, be monsters! is a rules-lite response to monster-hunting media from the monsters' point of view. It's both a love letter and a middle finger to stuff like Hellboy (and the BPRD), the SCP Foundation, the Men in Black, the World of Darkness games and the Urban Fantasy genre in general. It is an explicitly queer, antifascist and anti-capitalist game about the monstrous and the weird, in any flavor you want, not as something to be feared, but to be cherished and protected.
Play as a diverse crew of monstrous, anomalous or just generally odd beings, fighting against those who would use, abuse or even annihilate you. Create and populate your own supernatural underworld, abnormal gang and extra-dimensional haven. Hunt monster hunters! Punch nazi occultists! Eat the rich! Protect each other! Fight back! Here, there, be monsters!

I love early Doctor Fate comics. Like, obviously early JSA (All-Star) comics were hardcore 1940's propaganda which very explicitly stresses itself as antifascist but also the methodology raises multiple concerns--but what really grabs my attention is that Doctor Fate has literally always had an insane cosmic power level that is being used against 1940's-level stakes.

Hello! I read through the Wicked Ones rpg and really enjoyed it. Do you have any recommendations for games where you play as the bad guys? Preferably larger books.
THEME: Bad Guys
Hello friend! From monsters to villains to just plain ol’ bad dudes, let’s see what we got. I tried to stay away from one-page RPGs, but I can’t guarantee how long some of these books will be.
SLA Industries, 2nd Edition, by Nightfall Games.
In the World of Progress, the corporation SLA Industries rules all. Employing Operatives to enforce, extend and maintain their power base, SLA controls a multitude of worlds - industrial, franchise and resource - with planet Mort at its core. As Operatives execute the company’s will, new threats emerge through the cracks of the city walls, turning Downtown into a battleground.
You, the SLA Operative, are fighting for fame and fortune against a backdrop of a crumbling reality. Operatives feed the always-on televisions with a gaudy media of wall-to-wall death and dismemberment. Operative life is all about climbing the corporate ladder and earning sponsorship deals and notoriety along the way.
In SLA Industries, you’re not exactly villains, but you’re not good people either. You work for an evil corporation, in a world of evil corporations, and you’re extending their reach for a chance to climb the corporate ladder. SLA Industries is reminiscent of trad games in terms of its complexity; character creation consists of spending points to improve abilities, and you can improve some of your character abilities by introducing flaws in other areas. Because of the roots in its game design, I’d expect a longer book to read through here.
If you want to learn more about this game, you can check out the game review for it on Cannibal Halfling Games!
Seven Deadly Sirens, by Litza Bronwyn.
In this game, you play one of seven types of mermaids and roll with seven deadly sins to power your basic and special moves in order to summon ships, lure men to you, devour their hearts, and collect their treasures. Fun, flirty, indulgent, and a little chaotic, this game is perfect for a night of raucous debauchery or an afternoon of silly adventuring.
This game is definitely on the shorter side, but I really really like the idea of using seven deadly sins as your source of power. This game is Powered by the Apocalypse, so expect something interesting to happen even with every dice roll. Unlike common PbtA games, you pick from a communal list of moves to define your character, rather than picking a playbook. The core loop of this game will involve luring men off of boats, killing them and raiding the boats for treasure.
Here, there be Monsters! By Wendi Yu.

Here, there, be monsters!
This is 164 pages of monstrous fun, in which your characters are likely treated like bad guys by the society around them, even if they’re not really villainous themselves. It gives you a chance to revel in your monstrosity, with 100 pre-made character backgrounds for you to peruse. One content warning: there is quite a bit of art revolving about bodies, in various forms (this is a monster game, after all). This isn’t meant to detract from the work - in fact, it perfectly communicates the tone of the game - but it is something you should be aware of before you buy.
Blood and Sacrilege, by Tom Clark.
In a Dark Fantasy setting based on the Early Middle Ages of England (The Dark Ages), you play as a brood of vampires bent on toppling the humans’ reign over Brackenstow. Here you'll find a country ruled by mortals, with vampires lurking in the shadows of society. It wasn’t always this way though; vampires founded Brackenstow and after a hard fought war, lost it to the mortals they once enslaved.
Nearly a century after the vampires were defeated, legal rights to the kingdom are still squabbled over by the country's self-proclaimed leaders while bishops and ministers fight for their own influential positions. The vampire threat looms on the horizon… But the power vacuum left by a leaderless kingdom has taken it's toll on the stability of the land, leading to civil unrest and the more immediate danger of war.
Now, with humans on the brink of societal collapse, the vampires peer out from the dark, and the broods that have laid in wait for so many decades start to execute their long-laid plans.
This looks like a game still in the works, but it sure looks promising. As long-defeated creatures of the night, you see a chance to take back a kingdom you once owned. Forged in the Dark games are all about projects that the group has to work consistently at in order to succeed, so expect plenty to read, especially if it’s inside such an established setting.
Villainous Fucks, by Keganexe (@keganexe)
Villainous Fucks is a tabletop roleplaying game designed for 2-6 players, about doing petty crimes as The League of Villainous Fucks, and ruining the day of Superheroes and Cops alike (and truly what's the difference). Villainous Fucks runs on Spencer Campbells incredible LUMEN System, and is inspired by the best Villains across media. LUMEN is designed for quick, tactical combat, and Villainous Fucks dials it up to 11 for the best in zany comic book style action.
If you are interested in ruining the day of do-gooders in over-the-top comic book action, and if you like your combat to be satisfying and punchy, you want Villainous Fucks. Instead of skills, LUMEN uses approaches: how your character does something is more important than what exactly they do. Is your villain Brutal, Cunning or Quick? My favourite little tidbit from Villainous Fucks is the characters’ stance on Cops. Villains believe that All Cops are Bastards, and All Superheroes are Cops. If you like revelling in doing crimes, then this is absolutely worth checking out.
Games I’ve Recommended Before
Monsterhearts 2, by Avery Alder. (Teenagers with great monstrous potential)
Spire: The City Must Fall, by Rowan Rook & Decard. (You’re sympathetic terrorists, but you’re still terrorists.)
This former request that asked about playing mind flayers and similar monsters.

Sect History and Strategy
The National-Anarchists have their origin in the National Front, a far right British party with an impressive 1977 dark horse electoral success based on their xenophobic anti-immigrant platform. After the election, the group fractured into many internal factions before splintering into different sects. Troy Southgate, the main English-language National-Anarchist ideologue, is a veteran of this internecine maze. He joined the National Front in 1984, and subsequently joined a splinter group that eventually split again before becoming the National Revolutionary Faction (NRF), a small cadre organization openly calling for armed guerilla warfare.[10]
In the late 1990s however, the NRF started to morph into the National-Anarchist movement; the two were referred to interchangeably for a number of years, until the NRF disbanded in 2003.[11] Southgate’s ideology does not seem to have changed substantially with the shift, and he continues to circulate his NRF-era essays.
The NRF’s only known public action as “National-Anarchists” was to hold an Anarchist Heretics Fair in October 2000, in which a number of fringe-of the-fringe groups participated. However, when they attempted a second fair, a variety of anarchists and anti-fascists blocked it from being held. After the same thing happened in 2001, Southgate and the NRF abandoned this strategy and retreated to purely internet-based propaganda.[12]
The fair reflected Southgate’s adaptation of the Trotskyist practice of entrism — the strategy of entering other political groups in order to either take them over or break off with a part of their membership.[13] Southgate argues, “The NRF uses cadre activists to infiltrate political groups, institutions and services… It is part of our strategy to do this work and, if we are to have any success in the future, it is work that must be done on an increasing basis.”[14] He claims that the NRF infiltrated the 1999 Stop the City demonstration and the 2000 May Day protest, as well as activities of the Hunt Saboteurs Association and the Animal Liberation Front.[15]
Beyond its tactical uses, entrism is a philosophy for the National-Anarchists as they recruit members from the Left and in particular anarchist groups. Instead of simply calling themselves “racist communitarians,” they purposely adopt the label “anarchist” and specifically appropriate anarchist imagery. Examples include the use of a purple star (anarchists typically use either a black star, or a half black star, with the other half designating their specific tendency, i.e., red for unionists, green for environmentalists, etc.), or a red and black star superimposed with a Celtic cross (the latter being a typical symbol of White Nationalists). The allied New Right factions in Australia and the UK also use the “chaos symbol” —an eight pointed star —which they adapt from left-wing counter-cultural anarchists.
The fascist use of the “black bloc” political formation at demonstrations is also an appropriation of anarchist and far left forms. In recent years, German fascists calling themselves Autonomous Nationalists have marched in large black blocs, waving black flags (a symbol of traditional anarchism), and even appropriated the symbolism of the German antifascist groupings.[16]
As far back as 1984, Pierre André Taguieff, an expert on the European New Right, condemned the “tactic of ideological scrambling systematically deployed by GRECE,” a rightwing think tank that embraced some leftist critiques of advanced capitalism while promoting core fascist ideas.[17] Here we see that ideological scrambling deployed on a grassroots level.
It needs to be stressed that, despite the name, National-Anarchists have not emerged from inside the anarchist movement, and, intellectually, their origins are not based in its ideas. Anarchists typically see themselves as part of a cosmopolitan and explicitly antinationalist left-wing movement which seeks to dismantle both capitalism and the centralized state. They seek instead to replace them with decentralized, non-hierarchical, and self-regulating communities. Although similar to Marxists, anarchists are just as adamant in their opposition to racism, sexism, and homophobia as they are to capitalism. In the United States, anarchists were key players in the formation of labor unions, were the only political faction to support gay rights before World War I, were leaders in the free speech movement, and were active in helping to legalize birth control. The White Nationalists’ embrace of the anarchist label and symbolism is more than little ironic, since anarchists have a long history of physically disrupting White Nationalist events, for instance by groups like Anti-Racist Action. Anarchist military units were even formed to fight Franco in Spain and Mussolini in Italy.
